To disassemble the original components and then assemble the kit components, it is necessary to lift the motorcycle using a suitable hydraulic crane and engage the first gear. Smontaggio pinza freno anteriore Front brake calliper disassembly Operando dal lato sinistro del motoveicolo, svitare le n.2 viti (A1) e rimuovere la pinza freno anteriore (A). Working on motorcycle's LH side, loosen no.2 screws (A1) and remove front brake calliper (A). Importante Non azionare la leva del freno quando la pinza è smontata. Ciò potrebbe causare l'espulsione dei pistoncini di spinta delle pastiglie freno. ISTR 637 / 00 Caution Do not activate the brake lever when calliper is disassembled. Allentare le n.4 viti (B1) di bloccaggio perno sui gambali della forcella. Con un martello di plastica ribattere il perno ruota (C2) sul lato sinistro e poi sfilarlo completamente dal lato opposto. Sfilare la ruota (C) e recuperare il distanziale (C3). Svitare le n.5 viti (C4) rimuovendo la ruota fonica anteriore (C5) e il disco freno anteriore (C6) dalla ruota anteriore (C). Loosen and remove nut (C1). Collect nut (C1). Loosen no.4 screws (B1) retaining shaft to fork legs. Using a plastic mallet, tap on wheel shaft (C2) on LH side and then slide it out from the opposite side. Slide wheel (C) out and collect spacer (C3). Loosen no.5 screws (C4) and remove front phonic wheel (C5) and front brake disc (C6) from front wheel (C). 4 ISTR 637 / 00 E1 E5 E6 D1 D D2 D3 E8 E7 E2 Smontaggio paracatena Chain guard disassembly Svitare la vite (D1) e la vite (D2) con boccola (D3). Loosen screw (D1) and screw (D2) with bushing (D3). Remove chain guard (D) from rear swinging arm. Loosen screw (E1) and remove washer (E5) and plate (E6). To make it clearer the disassembly of number plate holder unit wiring, only the rear swinging arm unit is shown. Scollegare la presa del cablaggio luce targa (E3) dalla spina (F1) del cablaggio principale. Svitare le viti (G4), (G3), (G1) e rimuovere la fascetta (G2) fissata al pattino catena inferiore. Liberare il cablaggio luce targa dai n.3 passatubi (H). Svitare le n.2 viti (E4) e rimuovere il gruppo portatarga (E) dal motoveicolo, prestando attenzione a non rovinarlo. Disconnect the socket of number plate light wiring (E3) from plug (F1) of the main wiring. Loosen screws (G4), (G3), (G1) and remove clamp (G2) fastened to lower chain sliding shoe. Free number plate light wiring from no. 3 hose grommets (H). Loosen no. 2 screws (E4) and remove number plate holder unit (E) from the motorcycle, paying attention not to damage it. Smontaggio ruota posteriore Rear wheel disassembly Svitare e rimuovere il dado di fissaggio (I1) dal perno ruota posteriore (I2). Recuperare il dado (I1). Rimuovere il perno (I2) sorreggendo la ruota posteriore (I). Scalzare la catena (L) dalla corona (M1). Rimuovere la ruota posteriore (I) e il gruppo pinze freno posteriore (N), sfilandolo dal blocchetto di supporto (O1) presente sul forcellone (O). Rimuovere e recuperare il distanziale (M2). Loosen and remove retaining nut (I1) from rear wheel shaft (I2). Collect nut (I1). Remove shaft (I2) while holding rear wheel (I) up. Slide chain (L) out of rear sprocket (M1). Remove rear wheel (I) and rear brake calliper assembly (N) by sliding it out of support block (O1) located on swinging arm (O). Remove and collect spacer (M2). Loosen no.6 screws (I5) and remove rear phonic wheel (I6) and rear brake disc (I7) from rear wheel (I). Montare la camera d’aria (7) e il pneumatico (P) sul cerchio a raggi posteriore (5). Apply nipple protective tape (6) all along the central area of rear wheel spoke rim (5). Assemble tube (7) and tyre (P) on rear wheel spoke rim (5). Note Il pneumatico posteriore di primo equipaggiamento fornito da Ducati ha i seguenti parametri: • Codice Ducati: 49141021A • Marca: PIRELLI • Modello: MT 60 RS • Caratteristiche tecniche: 180/55 ZR 17 M/C (73H) E’ possibile montare un pneumatico di diversa marca, ma che abbia le stesse caratteristiche sopraelencate. ISTR 637 / 00 Notes The original equipment rear tyre supplied by Ducati features the following parameters: • Ducati part no.: 49141021A • Make: PIRELLI • Model: MT 60 RS • Technical specifications: 180/55 ZR 17 M/C (73H) It is possible to assemble a tyre of a different make but it must feature the same above-mentioned characteristics. 11 Q 3 2 1 Montaggio pneumatico ruota anteriore Front wheel tyre assembly Applicare il nastro paranippli (2) lungo tutta la parte centrale del cerchio a raggi anteriore (1). Montare la camera d’aria (3) e il pneumatico (Q) sul cerchio a raggi posteriore (1). Apply nipple protective tape (2) all along the central area of front wheel spoke rim (1). Assemble tube (3) and tyre (Q) on rear wheel spoke rim (1). ISTR 637 / 00 25 Nm ± 10% I6 8 8 25 Nm ± 10% 8 25 Nm ± 10% 9 I7 M3 M4 M M2 5 9 M4 Premontaggio ruota posteriore Rear wheel pre-assembly Operando sul lato sinistro: Montare il distanziale interno (M3) sulla flangia portacorona (M), orientandolo come mostrato in figura. Montare il distanziale esterno (M2) sulla flangia portacorona (M), orientandolo come mostrato in figura. Inserire i n.5 antivibrantii parastrappi (9) nelle corrispettive sedi, presenti sul mozzo della ruota posteriore (5). Applicare GRASSO GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 su n.5 perni (M4) della flangia portacorona (M). Montare la flangia portacorona (M) nel mozzo della ruota posteriore (5) inserendo i perni (M4) nei corrispondenti antivibranti parastrappi (9). Operando sul lato destro: Posizionare il disco freno posteriore (I7) in corrispondenza delle forature presenti sul mozzo della ruota anteriore (5) e impuntare n.3 viti (8). Serrare le n.3 viti (8) alla coppia indicata. Posizionare la ruota fonica (I6) in corrispondenza delle forature presenti sul disco freno posteriore (I7) e impuntare n.3 viti (8). Serrare le n.3 viti (8) alla coppia indicata. Working on LH side: Fit internal spacer (M3) on rear sprocket flange (M), aiming it as shown in the figure. Fit external spacer (M2) on rear sprocket flange (M), aiming it as shown in the figure. Fit no.5 silentblocks (9) in the relevant seats on rear wheel (5) hub. Smear no.5 pins (M4) of rear sprocket flange (M) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE. Fit rear sprocket flange (M) onto the hub of rear wheel (5) by inserting pins (M4) inside the special silentblocks (9). Working on RH side: Position rear brake disc (I7) on the holes of front wheel (5) hub and start no.3 screws (8). Tighten no. 3 screws (8) to the specified torque. Position phonic wheel (I6) on the holes of rear brake disc (I7) and start no.3 screws (8). Tighten no. 3 screws (8) to the specified torque. Montaggio ruota posteriore Rear wheel assembly Posizionare la pinza posteriore (N) sul disco freno (I7) della ruota posteriore (5). Posizionare la ruota posteriore (5) all’interno del forcellone (O) inserendo il blocchetto di supporto (O1) del forcellone (O) nell’asola (N1) della pinza freno posteriore (N). Montare la catena (L) sulla corona (M1). Assicurarsi che il distanziale esterno (M2) sia in posizione sulla flangia portacorona (M). Introdurre il perno ruota posteriore (I2) dal lato sinistro del forcellone, inserendolo rispettivamente nel foro del cursore tendicatena sinistro, nel mozzo ruota, nel foro della piastra pinza posteriore e nel foro del cursore tendicatena destro. Portare il perno fino a battuta sul braccio sinistro del forcellone. Applicare GRASSO GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 su filetto e piano di giunzione di un dado originale (I1). Impuntare il dado (I1) sul perno ruota posteriore (I2) dal lato destro del forcellone. Serrare il dado (I1) alla coppia di serraggio indicata. Position rear calliper (N) on brake disc (I7) of rear wheel (5). Position rear wheel (5) inside swinging arm (O) by fitting support block (O1) of swinging arm (O) in slot (N1) of rear brake calliper (N). Assemble chain (L) on rear sprocket (M1). Make sure that the external spacer (M2) is in the correct position on the rear sprocket flange (M). Fit rear wheel shaft (I2) from swinging arm left side, installing it inside left chain tensioner slider hole, wheel hub, rear calliper plate hole, and right chain tensioner slider. Drive shaft fully home on swinging arm left arm. Smear thread and mating surface of an original nut (I1) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE. Working on swinging arm right side, start nut (I1) into its thread on rear wheel shaft (I2). Tighten nut (I1) to the specified tightening torque. Effettuare il tensionamento della catena (L), seguendo quanto riportato alla sezione "regolazione tensione catena", del manuale officina. Adjust phonic wheel sensor (I6) following the instructions in "Adjusting the phonic wheel sensor AIR-GAP" of the workshop manual. Tension chain (L) following the instructions in the "chain tension adjustment" section of the workshop manual. Effettuare la regolazione del sensore ruota fonica (I6), seguendo quanto riportato alla sezione "regolazione AIR-GAP sensore ruota fonica", del manuale officina. ISTR 637 / 00 15 R 22Nm ± 10% E4 E4 E5 E 22 Nm ± 10% F1 H 2 Nm ± 10% G2 G3 H 2 Nm ± 10% R E3 G4 G1 H 2 Nm ± 10% 16 ISTR 637 / 00 Montaggio gruppo portatarga Fitting the number plate holder unit Applicare LOCTITE 243 su tutta la lunghezza del filetto di n.2 viti (E4). Posizionare il gruppo portatarga (E) sul forcellone (O) e impuntare le n.2 viti (E4) sul piastrino (E5). Serrare le n.2 viti alla coppia indicata. Montare i n.3 passatubi originali (H) sul cablaggio luce targa. Posizionare il cablaggio luce targa lungo la parte inferiore del forcellone, come indicato in figura e fissare i n.3 morsetti originali (H) impuntando le viti (G1), (G3) e (G4). Serrare le viti (G1), (G3) e (G4) alla coppia indicata. Utilizzando un fascetta a strappo grande, fascettare il cablaggio al pattino catena inferiore. Collegare la presa del cablaggio luce targa (E3) alla spina (F1) del cablaggio principale. Apply LOCTITE 243 all along the thread of no.2 screws (E4). Position number plate holder assembly (E) on swinging arm (O) and start no.2 screws (E4) on plate (E5). Tighten the no.2 screws to the specified torque. Assemble no.3 original hose grommets (H) on number plate light wiring. Position number plate light wiring along the lower area of swinging arm, as shown in the figure, and fasten no.3 original clamps (H) by starting screws (G1), (G3) and (G4). Tighten screws (G1), (G3) and (G4) to the specified torque. Use a big self-locking tie to tie the wiring to the lower chain sliding shoe. Connect the socket of number plate light wiring (E3) to plug (F1) of the main wiring. ISTR 637 / 00 17 E1 22 Nm ± 10% E5 E6 5 Nm ± 10% D1 D D2 D3 E E8 E7 5 Nm ± 10% E2 22 Nm ± 10% Montaggio paracatena Chain guard assembly Applicare LOCTITE 243 su tutta la lunghezza del filetto delle viti (E1) e (E2). Inserire la rondella (E5) e il piastrino (E6) sulla vite (E1). Impuntare la vite (E1) sul gruppo portatarga (E). Inserire la rondella (E7) e il piastrino (E8) sulla vite (E2). Impuntare la vite (E2) sul gruppo portatarga (E). Serrare le viti (E1) e (E2) alla coppia indicata. Inserire la boccola (D3) nella sede del paracarena (D). Posizionare il paracarena (D) sul forcellone (R) e impuntare le viti (D1) e (D3). Serrale le viti (D1) e (D3) alla coppia indicata. Apply LOCTITE 243 all along the thread of screws (E1) and (E2). Fit washer (E5) and plate (E6) in screw (E1). Start screw (E1) on number plate holder assembly (E). Fit washer (E7) and plate (E8) in screw (E2). Start screw (E2) on number plate holder assembly (E). Tighten screws (E1) and (E2) to the specified torque. Fit bushing (D3) in the seat of chain guard (D). Position chain guard (D) on swinging arm (R) and start screws (D1) and (D3). Tighten screws (D1) and (D3) to the specified torque. 18 ISTR 637 / 00 C2 1 B C1 63 Nm ± 10% 1 C6 C5 4 C3 30 Nm ± 10% Premontaggio ruota anteriore Front wheel pre-assembly Posizionare il disco freno anteriore e la ruota fonica in corrispondenza delle forature presenti sul mozzo ruota anteriore (1) e impuntare le n.5 viti (4). Serrare le n.5 viti (4) alla coppia indicata. Position front brake disc and phonic wheel on the holes of front wheel hub (1) and start no.5 screws (4). Tighten the no.5 screws (4) to the specified torque. Montaggio ruota anteriore Applicare GRASSO GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 sul perno ruota (C2) (il grasso deve essere distribuito uniformemente su tutto il perno). Inserire la ruota anteriore (1) fra gli steli della forcella (B), installando fra mozzo ruota e piede di forcella sinistro il distanziale (C3). Attenzione Orientare la ruota anteriore (1) tenendo presente che la freccia, marcata sul lato sinistro della ruota, indica il senso di rotazione di marcia. Introdurre il perno ruota (C2) fino a battuta dal lato destro del motoveicolo, inserendolo rispettivamente nel piede di forcella destro, nel mozzo ruota, nel distanziale (C3) e nel piede di forcella sinistro. Applicare GRASSO GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 su filetto e piano di giunzione del dado originale (C1). Impuntare il dado originale (C1) sul perno ruota (C2). Serrare il dado (C1) alla coppia indicata. Effettuare la regolazione del sensore ruota fonica (I6), seguendo quanto riportato alla sezione "regolazione AIR-GAP sensore ruota fonica", del manuale officina. ISTR 637 / 00 Front wheel assembly Smear wheel shaft (C2) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE (grease shall be evenly distributed all over the shaft). Insert front wheel (1) between fork legs (B), installing spacer (C3) between wheel hub and left fork bottom end. Warning Aim front wheel (1), taking into account that arrow stamped on wheel left side shows travel direction of rotation. Fit wheel shaft (C2) fully home on motorcycle right side, installing it through right fork bottom end, wheel hub, spacer (C3) and left fork bottom end. Smear thread and mating surface of original nut (C1) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE. Start original nut (C1) into wheel shaft (C2). Tighten nut (C1) to the specified torque. Adjust phonic wheel sensor (I6) following the instructions in "Adjusting the phonic wheel sensor AIR-GAP" of the workshop manual. 19 B1 10 Nm ± 10% X A A1 45 Nm ± 10% A2 Montaggio pinza freno anteriore Front brake calliper assembly Applicare GRASSO GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 su filetto e sottotesta delle n.2 viti originali (A1). Posizionare la pinza freno anteriore sinistra (A) e fissarla impuntando le n.2 viti originali (A1). Pre-serrare le n.2 viti (A1) alla coppia di 2Nm. Agire ripetutamente sulla leva freno (A2) "tirandola" e "rilasciandola, come indicato nel riquadro (X). Mantenendo la leva freno (A2) “tirata” serrare le n.2 viti originali (A1) alla coppia indicata. Smear the thread and underhead of no.2 original screws (A1) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE. Position the left front brake calliper (A) and fix it by starting no.2 original screws (A1). Pre-tighten no.2 screws (A1) to a torque of 2Nm. Work brake lever (A2) many times, pulling and releasing it, as explained in box (X). With the brake lever (A2) pulled, tighten no.2 original screws (A1) to the specified torque. Importante Caution Abbassare la gruetta idraulica posizionando il motoveicolo su cavalletto di servizio. Lower the hydraulic crane positioning the motorcycle on the service stand. Tenendo premuto la leva freno anteriore eseguire 3-4 escursioni della forcella anteriore e serrare le n.4 viti (B1) alla coppia indicata. Drive shaft fully home on swinging arm left arm. Smear thread and mating surface of an original nut (I1) with GADUS S2 V220 AD 2 GREASE. Working on swinging arm right side, start nut (I1) into its thread on rear wheel shaft (I2). Tighten nut (I1) to the specified tightening torque.
