• The operation of any power tool can result in foreign objects being thrown into your eyes,
which can result in severe eye damage. Before beginning power-tool operation, always wear
safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and a full-face shield, when needed. We
recommend using a wide vision safety mask over eyeglasses or standard safety glasses
with shields. Always use eye protection marked to comply with ANSI Z87.1.
• Some dust created by power sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling, and other construction
activities contains chemicals known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects,

WARNING
• When using electric trimmers, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce
the risk of re, electric shock, and personal injury, including the following:

never operate the tool in the vicinity of any wires or cables which may carry electric current.

durations of use, noise from this product may contribute to hearing loss.
• Avoid dangerous environments - Don’t use appliances in damp or wet location.
• Don’t use in rain.
• Keep children away - All visitors should be kept at least 100 ft. away from work area.
• Dress properly - Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts.
Use of rubber gloves and substantial footwear is recommended when working outdoors.

SAFETY INFORMATION
• Maintain appliance with care - Keep cutting edge sharp and clean for best performance
and to reduce the risk of injury. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories.
Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease.
• Check damaged parts - Before further use of the appliance trimmer, a guard or other part
that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and
perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts, mounting, and any other condition that may affect its operation. A guard
or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized
service center unless indicated elsewhere in this manual.
• Do not charge the battery pack in rain, or in wet locations.
• Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the “off” position before
connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the appliance. Carrying the
appliance with your nger on the switch or energizing appliance that have the switch on
invites accidents.
• Disconnect the battery pack from the appliance before making any adjustments,
changing accessories, or storing appliance. Such preventive safety measures reduce
the risk of starting the appliance accidentally.
• Use the battery operated blower only with specically designated battery pack. Use of
any other batteries may create a risk of re.

• Do not expose a battery pack or appliance to re or excessive temperature. Exposure
to re or temperature above 130°C may cause explosion.
• Follow all charging instructions and do not charge the battery pack or appliance
outside of the temperature range specied in the instructions. Charging improperly or
at temperatures outside of the specied range may damage the battery and increase the
risk of re.
• Have servicing performed by a qualied repair person using only identical
replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the product is maintained.
• Do not modify or attempt to repair the appliance or the battery pack except as
indicated in the instructions for use and care.
• Do not dispose of the battery in a re. The cells may explode. Check with local codes
for possible special disposal instructions.
• Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause
damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.
• Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting
materials such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and
cause burns.
• Do not operate the trimmer while under the inuence of alcohol or drugs.
• Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all objects such as rocks, broken
glass, nails, wire, or string that can be thrown or become entangled in the cutting
attachment. Make sure that other persons and pets are at least 100 ft. (30.5m) away.
• Always hold the trimmer rmly, with both hands on the handles, while operating.
Wrap your ngers and thumbs around the handles.

SAFETY INFORMATION
• To reduce the risk of injury from loss of control, never work on a ladder or on any
other insecure support. Never hold the cutting attachment above waist height.
• Do not operate the trimmer in gaseous or explosive atmospheres. Motors in these
appliances normally spark, and the sparks might ignite fumes.
• Wear heavy long pants, long sleeves, boots, and gloves. Avoid loose garments or
jewelry that could get caught in moving parts of the machine or its motor.
• Damage to trimmer - If you strike a foreign object with the trimmer or it becomes
entangled, stop the tool immediately, check for damage and have any damage
repaired before further operation is attempted. Do not operate with a broken guard or
spool.
• If the equipment should start to vibrate abnormally, stop the motor and check
immediately for the cause. Vibration is generally a warning of trouble.
• A loose head may vibrate, crack, break or come off the trimmer, which may result
in serious or fatal injury. Make sure that the cutting attachment is properly xed in
position. If the head loosens after xing it in position, replace it immediately.
• Never use a trimmer with a loose cutting attachment.
• Replace a cracked, damaged or worn-out cutting head immediately, even if damage
is limited to supercial cracks. Such attachments may shatter at high speed and cause
serious or fatal injury.
• Check the cutting attachment at regular short intervals during operation, or
immediately if there is a noticeable change in cutting behavior.
• When replacing the cutting line, use triangle-shaped twisted nylon cutting line with a
size that does not exceed 0.08 in. (2.0 mm); using heavier lines than recommended by
the manufacturer increases the load on the motor and reduces its operating speed.
This results in overheating and damage to the trimmer.
• To reduce the risk of serious injury, never use wire or metal-reinforced line or other
material in place of the nylon cutting lines. Pieces of wire could break off and be thrown
at high speed toward the operator or bystanders.
• When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other accessory or
attachment which is not recommended for use with this tool may increase the risk of injury.
• Do not wash with a hose; avoid getting water in motor and electrical connections.
• Save these instructions. Refer to them frequently and use them to instruct others
who may use this tool. If you lend this tool to someone else, also lend these instructions to
them to prevent misuse of the product and possible injury.

PREPARATION
Know Your String Trimmer
This product requires assembly. Carefully lift the tool from the carton and place it on a level
work surface. Before attempting to use the string trimmer, familiarize yourself with all of its
operating features and safety requirements.
WARNING
• Do not allow familiarity with the tool to cause carelessness. Remember that one careless
moment is enough to cause severe injury. Before attempting to use any tool, be sure to
become familiar with all of the operating features and safety instructions.
• Do not attempt to modify this tool or create accessories not recommended for use with this
tool. Any such alteration or modication is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition
leading to possible serious personal injury.

ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
This product requires assembly. To reduce the risk of injury to persons, never operate without
guards in place. The guard must always be on the tool to protect the user.
1. Unfolding the Shaft
WARNING
• In order to avoid pinching your hands or ngers,
do not hold the shaft at the joints. Do not attempt
to start the trimmer until the shaft has been
locked.

• Always remove the battery pack from the
product when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, cleaning, or when the product is
not in use.t
a. Remove the battery pack from the trimmer.
b. Put your trimmer on the ground and carefully
unfold the shaft. Make sure that the cable is
inside the shaft so that it will not be pinched
when closing the hinge (D).
c. Use the hex wrench (N) to lock the shaft with
the two bolts(O) supplied.
2. Mounting the Guard
WARNING
• Always wear gloves when mounting or replacing
the guard. Be careful of the blade on the guard
and protect your hands from being injured by the
blade.
• Always remove the battery pack from the
product when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, cleaning, or when the product is
not in use.
a. Remove the battery pack (not included) from
the trimmer.
b. Lift the trimmer head (F) and face it upward;
align the groove on the bottom of the guard (K) with the raised portion on the base of the
trimmer head, and then slide guard onto the base as shown.
c. Make sure that the two mounting holes in the guard are aligned with the two assembly

holes in the base of the shaft. Lock the guard
in place by tightening the two screws (M) with a
Phillips screwdriver (not included).
3. Mounting the Front-Assist Handle
WARNING
• Always remove the battery pack from the
product when you are assembling parts, making
adjustments, cleaning, or when the product is
not in use.
a. Remove the battery pack (not included) from
the trimmer.
b. Remove the screw knob (J) and the adjusting
lever (I) from the front-assist handle (H).
c. To attach the front-assist handle on the shaft,
insert the adjusting lever into the front-assist
handle, and then tighten the screw knob.
Make sure that the front-assist handle faces
upwards so that it points toward the top of the
handle.
d. Lower the adjusting lever to secure the front-
assist handle onto the shaft so that it cannot
move on the shaft during operating.
To Adjust the Front-Assist Handle Position
The handle should be adjusted so that your front
arm will be straight when using the trimmer.
To adjust the front-assist handle (H) position,
lift the adjusting lever so that the front-assistant
handle can be moved to the desired position of the
shaft. Lower the adjusting lever so that the handle
cannot move on the shaft during operating.

4. To Attach/Remove Battery Pack
To Attach Battery Pack
a. Make sure that the switch is in the OFF
position.
b. Align the raised portion on the battery pack
(not included) with the grooves on the bottom
of the tool, then slide the battery pack onto the
tool as shown.
c. Ensure that the battery-release buttons on the
battery pack snap into place and the battery
pack is secured to the tool before beginning
operation.
NOTICE: When placing the battery pack on the
tool, be sure that the raised rib on the battery pack
aligns with the groove on the tool and the latches snap into place properly. Improper assembly
of the battery pack can cause damage to internal components.
To Remove Battery Pack
a. Make sure that the switch is in the OFF position.
b. Press the battery-release buttons to release the battery pack.
c. Pull rearward on the battery pack to remove it from the tool.
WARNING
• Battery tools are always in operating condition. Therefore, the trigger switch should always be
in the OFF position when the tool is not in use or when carrying the tool at your side.

5. Holding the String Trimmer
WARNING
• Dress properly to reduce the risk of injury when
operating this tool.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Wear eye
and ear/hearing protection. Wear heavy, long
pants, boots and gloves. Do not wear short pants
or sandals or go barefoot.
Before operating the unit, stand in the operating
position and check that:
• The operator is wearing eye protection and
proper clothing.
• One arm is slightly bent, and the hand on that arm is holding the rear handle.
• The other arm is straight, with that hand holding the front-assist handle.
• The trimmer head is parallel to the ground and easily contacts the material to be cut without
the operator having to bend over.
6. To Start/Stop the String Trimmer
Before starting the string trimmer:
• Make sure that you have a secure and balanced
footing.
• Stand upright and hold the string trimmer in a
relaxed position.
• Make sure that the cutting line is not touching
the ground or any other objects.
• Hold the string trimmer with both hands: one
hand on the rear handle (C) and one hand on
the front-assist handle (H).
a. To turn the string trimmer ON, press down
the lock-off button (A) and then depress the
variable-speed trigger switch (B).
b. The variable-speed trigger switch delivers higher speed with increased trigger pressure
and lower speed with decreased trigger pressure.
c. To turn it off, release the variable-speed trigger switch and allow the trimmer to come to a
complete stop.
WARNING
• Always remove the battery pack from the string trimmer during work breaks and after
nishing work.

7. Using the String Trimmer
Check for damaged/worn parts before each use
WARNING
• To prevent serious personal injury, remove the
battery pack from the tool before servicing,
cleaning, changing attachments or removing
material from the unit.
Check the bump head, guard (K) and front-assist
handle (H) and replace any parts that are cracked,
warped, bent, or damaged in any away.
The line-cutting blade (L) on the edge of the guard
can dull over time. It is recommended that you
periodically sharpen it with a le or replace it with
a new blade.
WARNING
• Always wear gloves when mounting or replacing
the guard or when sharpening or replacing the
blade. Note the location of the blade on the
guard and protect your hand from injury.
Tips for best trimming results
WARNING
• To avoid serious personal injury, wear goggles
or safety glasses at all times when operating this unit. Wear a face mask or dust mask in
dusty locations. Wear proper clothing and footwear during operation to reduce the risk of
injury that may be caused by ying debris.
• Clear the area to be cut before each use. Remove all objects, such as rocks, broken glass,
nails, wire, or string that can be thrown or become entangled in the cutting attachment. Clear
the area of children, bystanders, and pets. At a minimum, keep all children, bystanders and
pets at least 100 ft. (30.5 m) away; there still may be risk to bystanders from thrown objects.
• Bystanders should be encouraged to wear eye protection. If you are approached, stop the
motor and cutting attachment immediately. The correct angle for the cutting attachment is
parallel to the ground.
• This string trimmer allows you to rest the bump knob (G) on the ground for more comfortable
operation.
• Do not force the trimmer. Allow the very tip of the line to do the cutting (especially along
walls). Cutting with more than the tip will reduce cutting efciency and may overload the
motor.
• The cutting height is determined by the distance of the cutting line from the lawn surface.
• Grass over 8 in. (200 mm) should be cut by working from top to the bottom in small
increments to avoid premature line wear or motor drag.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
• Slowly move the trimmer into and out of the area being cut, maintaining the cutting head
position at the desired cutting height. This movement can be either a forward-backward
motion or a side-to-side motion. Cutting shorter lengths produces best results.
• Trim only when grass and weeds are dry.
• Wire and picket fences can cause extra string wear or breakage. Stone and brick walls,
curbs, and wood may wear strings rapidly.
• Avoid trees and shrubs. Tree bark, wood moldings, siding, and fence posts can easily be
damaged by the strings.
Adjusting Cutting Line Length (Fig 7b)
The trimmer head allows the operator to release more cutting line without stopping the motor.
As line becomes frayed or worn, additional line can be released by lightly tapping the bump
knob (G) on the ground while operating the trimmer.
For best results, tap the bump knob on bare ground or hard soil. If line release is attempted in
tall grass, the motor may overheat.
Always keep the trimming line fully extended. Line release becomes more difcult as the
cutting line becomes shorter.
WARNING
• Do not remove or alter the line cutting blade assembly. Excessive line length will cause the
motor to overheat and may result in serious personal injury.
Clean the trimmer after each use
WARNING
• To prevent serious personal injury, remove the battery pack from the tool before servicing,
cleaning, changing attachments or removing material from the unit.
a. Clear any grass that may have wrapped itself around the motor shaft or trimmer head.
b. Use only a clean, dry and soft cloth to clean the tool. Never let any liquid get inside the
tool; never immerse any part of the tool into a liquid.
c. Keep the air vents in the rear housing free from debris at all times.
NOTICE: Obstructing the vents will prevent the air from owing into the motor housing and
may result in overheating or damage to the motor.
WARNING
• Never use water for cleaning your trimmer. Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.
Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents. Use
clean clothes to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

8. Line Replacement
NOTICE: Always use triangle-shaped twisted
nylon cutting line with a size that does not exceed
0.08 in. (2.0 mm). Using line other than that
specied may cause the string trimmer to overheat
or become damaged.
WARNING
• Never use metal-reinforced line, wire, or rope,
etc. These can break off and become dangerous
projectiles.
Wind the spool with new line
WARNING
• To prevent serious personal injury, remove the
battery pack from the tool before servicing,
cleaning, changing attachments or removing
material from the unit.
a. Press the two release tabs on the spool base
and remove the spool retainer by pulling it
straight out (Fig. 8a).
b. Remove the spool. Use a clean cloth to clean
the inner surface of the spool retainer and
spool base.
NOTICE: Always clean the spool retainer and
spool base before reassembling the trimmer head.
c. Check the spool retainer, spool and spool base
worn wear parts.
d. Take approximately 15 ft. (4.5 m) of 0.08 in.
(2.0 mm) diameter cutting line. Fold the line in
half and then adjust it so that one end is 4.5 in.
(11 cm) longer than the other (Fig. 8b).
e. Hook the folded end of the cutting line onto
either of the slots in the spool.
f. Wind the line, in two even and tight layers,
onto the spool. Wind the line in the direction
indicated on the spool.
NOTICE: Failure to wind the line in the direction
indicated will cause the trimmer head to operate
incorrectly.
g. Place the ends of the line in two opposite notches in the spool, with approximately 5 in.
(12.5 cm) protruding (Fig. 8c).

h. Align the notches of the spool from which the
lines protrude with the eyelets in the spool
retainer and position the spool in the retainer
(Fig.8d).
i. Holding the spool and spool retainer, grasp
one end of the line and pull it to release the
line from the notch in the eyelet (Fig. 8e).
Repeat with the other end.
j. With the spool base facing downward, align
the slots in the spool retainer with the tabs on
the spool base and press the retainer evenly
down until it snaps into place (Fig. 8f).
NOTICE: Make sure that the tabs on the spool
base snap into place or the spool will come out
during operation.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
All maintenance should only be carried out by a qualied service technician.
Before cleaning or performing any maintenance, remove battery from the tool. For safe and
proper operation, always keep the tool and its ventilation slots clean.
Cleaning
Always use only a soft, dry cloth to clean your string trimmer; never use detergent or alcohol.
Clear any grass that may have wrapped itself around the motor shaft or trimmer head. Keep
the air vents free of obstructions.
Storage
Clean the tool thoroughly before storing it.
Store the unit in a dry, well-ventilated area, locked-up or up high, out of the reach of children.
Keep away from corrosive agents, such as garden chemicals and de-icing salts.
TROUBLESHOOTING
WARNING:
• Turn the switch to the “OFF” position and remove battery from the tool before performing
troubleshooting procedures.

use. This warranty is limited to 90 days for commercial and rental use.

ADVERTENCIA
• La operación de cualquier herramienta eléctrica puede arrojar objetos extraños a sus ojos
y, de esta manera, causar graves daños oculares. Use siempre lentes o gafas de seguridad
con protecciones laterales y, cuando sea necesario, una mascarilla que cubra todo el rostro
antes de comenzar a operar una herramienta eléctrica. Recomendamos usar una máscara

• Cuando utilice orilladoras eléctricas, siga siempre las medidas de seguridad básicas para

sin el paquete de baterías, fuera del alcance de los niños.
• Mantenga el electrodoméstico en buenas condiciones: mantenga los bordes de corte
losos y limpios para lograr un mejor rendimiento y reducir el riesgo de lesiones. Siga las
instrucciones para lubricar y reemplazar accesorios. Mantenga las manijas secas, limpias y
sin aceite ni grasa.
• Verique que no haya piezas dañadas: antes de seguir utilizando la orilladora, debe
vericar detenidamente que los protectores, o cualquier otra pieza dañada, funcionen
correctamente y realicen la función deseada. Verique la alineación y la unión de las piezas
móviles, si están rotas, su montaje y cualquier otro tipo de condición que pueda afectar
el funcionamiento. Si un protector o cualquier otra pieza está dañada, debe repararse o
reemplazarse correctamente en un centro de servicio autorizado, a menos que se indique
otro lugar en este manual.
• No coloque el paquete de baterías bajo la lluvia ni en ubicaciones húmedas.
• Evite un arranque accidental. Asegúrese de que el interruptor esté en la posición
“off” (apagado) antes de conectar la fuente o la batería, levantar o transportar el
electrodoméstico.Transportar el electrodoméstico con el dedo en el interruptor o enchufar

• No use la orilladora bajo los efectos del alcohol o de drogas.
• Despeje el área que cortará antes de cada uso. Retire todos los objetos, como rocas,
vidrios rotos, clavos, alambres o cuerdas, que puedan ser lanzados por la máquina o
que puedan enredarse en el accesorio de corte. Asegúrese de que las demás personas
y mascotas se encuentren a una distancia de al menos 30,48 m.
• Siempre sostenga la orilladora rmemente con ambas manos en las manijas durante
el uso. Rodee las manijas con los dedos y los pulgares.
• Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones por pérdida de control, no trabaje en escaleras ni
en otros soportes inseguros. No sostenga el accesorio de corte por encima de la altura
de la cintura.
• No utilice la orilladora en atmósferas gaseosas ni en las que exista riesgo de
explosión. Los motores en estos electrodomésticos normalmente producen chispas y las
chispas pueden encender gases.
• Use pantalones largos y gruesos, mangas largas, botas y guantes. Evite usar ropa
holgada o joyas ya que estas podrían atraparse en las piezas en movimiento de la máquina
o en su motor.
• Daños en la orilladora: si la orilladora choca con un objeto extraño o si se enreda,
detenga la herramienta inmediatamente, verique que no haya daños y repare los
daños que haya antes de intentar volver a utilizarla. No utilice la herramienta si el
protector o el carrete está dañado.
• Si el equipo comienza a vibrar de manera anormal, detenga el motor y busque la
causa de inmediato. Por lo general, la vibración advierte un problema.
• Un cabezal suelto puede vibrar, agrietarse, romperse o salirse de la orilladora, lo cual
puede producir lesiones graves o fatales. Asegúrese de que el accesorio de corte
esté jo en su posición de forma correcta. Si el cabezal se aoja después de jarlo en su
posición, reemplácelo inmediatamente.
• No use una orilladora con un accesorio de corte suelto.
• Reemplace los cabezales de corte agrietados, dañados o desgastados
inmediatamente, incluso si el daño se limita a grietas superciales. Estos accesorios
pueden quebrarse a una velocidad alta y provocar lesiones graves o fatales.
• Verique el accesorio de corte en intervalos breves y regulares durante el uso o
inmediatamente si hay un cambio notable en el comportamiento de corte.
• Al reemplazar el hilo de corte, use un hilo de corte de nailon torcido triangular de un
tamaño que no supere las 0,08 pulgadas (2 mm). El uso de hilos más pesados que
los recomendados por el fabricante aumenta la carga sobre el motor y reduce su
velocidad de funcionamiento. Esto produce sobrecalentamiento y daño de la orilladora.
• Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones graves, no use alambres ni hilos reforzados de
metal u otros materiales en lugar de hilos de corte de nailon. Los trozos de alambre
pueden romperse a una velocidad alta en dirección del operador o de los transeúntes.
• Al realizar mantenimiento, utilice solo piezas de repuesto idénticas. El uso de
cualquier otro accesorio que no esté recomendado para esta herramienta puede aumentar
el riesgo de lesiones.
• No lave con manguera y evite que el agua entre en contacto con el motor y las
conexiones eléctricas.
• Guarde estas instrucciones. Consúltelas periódicamente y utilícelas para instruir a otras
personas que puedan utilizar esta herramienta. Si presta la herramienta a alguien más,
préstele también estas instrucciones para prevenir el mal uso del producto y posibles lesiones.

PREPARACIÓN
Conozca su orilladora
Este producto debe ensamblarse antes del uso. Extraiga la herramienta de la caja
cuidadosamente y colóquela sobre una supercie de trabajo uniforme. Antes de intentar
usar la orilladora, familiarícese con todas sus características de operación y requisitos de
seguridad.
ADVERTENCIA
• Sea cuidadoso, incluso si está familiarizado con la herramienta. Recuerde que un
momento de descuido es suciente para causar lesiones graves. Antes de intentar utilizar
cualquier herramienta, asegúrese de familiarizarse con todas las funciones de operación e
instrucciones de seguridad.
• No intente modicar esta herramienta ni crear accesorios que no sean los recomendados
para esta. Cualquier alteración o modicación es considerada un mal uso y podría causar
una condición peligrosa que podría producir lesiones personales graves.

Este producto requiere de ensamblado. Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones a personas, no use
la herramienta si los protectores no están en su lugar. El protector siempre debe estar en la
herramienta para proteger al usuario.
1. Despliegue de la varilla
ADVERTENCIA
• Para evitar pellizcarse las manos o los dedos,
no sostenga la varilla en las juntas. No intente
arrancar la orilladora hasta que la varilla se haya
jado.
ADVERTENCIA
• Siempre retire el paquete de baterías del
producto cuando no esté en uso o cuando esté
ensamblando las piezas, realizando ajustes o
limpiándolo.
a. Retire el paquete de baterías de la orilladora.
b. Coloque la orilladora en el piso y despliegue
cuidadosamente la varilla. Asegúrese de que
el cable esté en el interior de la varilla para
que no pueda quedar atrapado cuando cierre
la bisagra (D).
c. Use la llave hexagonal (N) para jar la varilla
con los dos pernos (O) proporcionados.

2. Montaje del protector
ADVERTENCIA
• Siempre use guantes cuando monte o
reemplace el protector. Tenga cuidado con la
hoja del protector y evite que sus manos se
lesionen con la hoja.
• Siempre retire el paquete de baterías del
producto cuando no esté en uso o cuando esté
ensamblando las piezas, realizando ajustes o
limpiándolo.
a. Retire el paquete de baterías (no incluido) de
la orilladora.
b. Levante el cabezal de la orilladora (F) y
ubíquelo de modo que mire hacia arriba,
alinee la ranura de la parte inferior del
protector (K) con la parte elevada de la base
del cabezal de la orilladora y luego deslice el
protector en la base como se muestra.
c. Asegúrese de que los dos oricios de montaje
del protector estén alineados con los dos
oricios de ensamble de la base del eje.
Asegure el protector en su lugar apretando los
dos tornillos (M) con un destornillador Phillips
(no incluido).

3. Montaje de la manija delantera
ADVERTENCIA

a. Retire el paquete de baterías (no incluido) de
la orilladora.
B. Retire la perilla del tornillo (J) y la palanca de
ajuste (I) de la manija delantera (H).
c. Para jar la manija delantera al eje, inserte
la palanca de ajuste a la manija delantera y
luego apriete la perilla del tornillo. Asegúrese
de que la manija delantera mire hacia arriba,
de modo que apunte hacia la parte superior
de la manija.
d. Baje la palanca de ajuste para asegurar la
manija delantera sobre el eje, de modo que
no pueda moverse sobre el eje durante el
funcionamiento.
Cómo ajustar la posición de la manija delantera
La manija debe ajustarse de modo que su brazo
frontal quede recto cuando use la orilladora.
Para ajustar la posición de la manija delantera
(H), levante la palanca de ajuste de modo que
la manija delantera pueda moverse a la posición

4. Cómo jar y retirar el paquete de baterías
Para jar el paquete de baterías
a. Asegúrese de que el interruptor esté en la
posición OFF.
b. Alinee la parte elevada del paquete de
baterías (no incluido) con las ranuras de la
parte inferior de la herramienta y luego deslice
el paquete de baterías sobre la herramienta,
como lo muestra la imagen.
c. Asegúrese de que los botones de liberación
de la batería del paquete de baterías encajen
en su lugar y que el paquete de baterías
quede jo a la herramienta antes de comenzar
la operación.
AVISO: al colocar el paquete de baterías en la herramienta, asegúrese de que la varilla
elevada del paquete de baterías se alinee con la ranura de la herramienta y que los pestillos
encajen en su lugar adecuadamente. El ensamblaje inadecuado del paquete de baterías
puede provocar daños a los componentes internos.
Para liberar el paquete de baterías
a. Asegúrese de que el interruptor esté en la posición OFF.
b. Presione los botones de liberación de la batería para liberar el paquete de baterías.
c. Jale el paquete de baterías hacia atrás para retirar la batería de la herramienta.
ADVERTENCIA
• Las herramientas con batería siempre están en condiciones de operación. Por lo tanto, el
interruptor de gatillo debe estar siempre en la posición OFF cuando la herramienta no esté

5. Cómo sostener la orilladora
ADVERTENCIA
• Use ropa adecuada para reducir el riesgo de
lesiones cuando use esta herramienta.
No use ropa holgada ni joyas. Use protección
para los ojos y las orejas. Use pantalones largos
y pesados, botas y guantes. No use pantalones
cortos ni sandalias, ni tenga los pies descalzos.
Antes de usar la unidad, colóquese en la posición
de operación y verique lo siguiente:
• El operador usa lentes de protección y ropa
adecuada.
• Tiene un brazo levemente doblado y la mano de ese brazo sostiene la manija posterior.
• Tiene el otro brazo recto y la mano de ese brazo sostiene la manija delantera.
• El cabezal de la orilladora se encuentra paralelo al suelo y entra en contacto fácilmente con
el material que debe cortar sin que el operador deba inclinarse.
6. Encendido y apagado de la orilladora
Antes de encender la orilladora, tenga en cuenta
lo siguiente:
• Asegúrese de estar en una posición segura y
equilibrada.
• Párese en posición recta y sostenga la
orilladora en una posición relajada.
• Asegúrese de que el hilo de corte no toque el
suelo ni otros objetos.
• Sostenga la orilladora con ambas manos: una
mano en la manija posterior (C) y la otra en la
manija delantera (H).
a. Para encender la orilladora, presione el botón
de bloqueo-apagado (A) y, luego, presione el
interruptor de gatillo de velocidad variable (B).
b. El interruptor de gatillo de velocidad variable proporciona mayor velocidad con mayor
presión en el gatillo y menor velocidad con menor presión en el gatillo.
c. Para apagar la orilladora, suelte el interruptor de gatillo de velocidad variable y permita
que la herramienta se detenga por completo.
ADVERTENCIA
• Siempre retire el paquete de baterías de la orilladora en los descansos y tras nalizar los
trabajos.

7. Uso de la orilladora
Cómo vericar si hay piezas dañadas o
desgastadas antes de cada uso
ADVERTENCIA
• Para evitar lesiones personales graves, retire el
paquete de baterías de la herramienta antes de
realizarle mantenimiento, limpiarla, cambiarle
accesorios o retirarle materiales de la unidad.
Verique el cabezal de alimentación por golpeteo,
el protector (K) y la manija delantera (H), y
reemplace las piezas agrietadas, deformadas,
curvadas o dañadas de cualquier modo.
La hoja para corte de hilo (L) en el borde del
protector puede desalarse con el paso del tiempo.
Se recomienda que la ale periódicamente con una
lima o que la reemplace por una hoja nueva.
ADVERTENCIA
• Siempre use guantes cuando monte o
reemplace el protector o cuando ale o
reemplace la hoja. Localice la ubicación de la
hoja en el protector y proteja sus manos para
evitar lesiones.
Consejos para lograr mejores resultados con
la orilladora
ADVERTENCIA
• Para evitar lesiones personales graves, use gafas o lentes de seguridad en todo momento
al usar esta unidad. Utilice una mascarilla o una mascarilla antipolvo en lugares donde haya
demasiado polvo. Use ropa y calzado adecuados durante el uso para reducir el riesgo de
lesiones que pueden originarse a causa de desechos eyectados.
• Despeje el área que cortará antes de cada uso. Retire todos los objetos, como rocas,
vidrios rotos, clavos, alambres o cuerdas, que puedan ser lanzados por la máquina o
que puedan enredarse en el accesorio de corte. Despeje el área de niños, transeúntes y
mascotas. Como mínimo, mantenga a todos los niños, transeúntes y mascotas al menos
a 30,48 m de distancia. Aun así existe el riesgo de que los objetos que lanza la podadora
impacten en los transeúntes.
• Se recomienda que los transeúntes usen lentes de protección. Si alguien se aproxima a
usted, detenga el motor y el accesorio de corte inmediatamente. El ángulo correcto del
accesorio de corte es paralelo al suelo.
• Esta orilladora le permite apoyar la perilla para golpeteo (G) sobre el suelo para un
funcionamiento más cómodo.
• No fuerce la orilladora. Permita que la punta del hilo realice el corte (especialmente a lo
largo de las paredes). Si corta con más que la punta, se reducirá la eciencia de corte y se
provocará una sobrecarga del motor.

Ajuste del largo del hilo de corte (Fig. 7b)
El cabezal de la orilladora le permite al operador liberar más hilo de corte sin detener el
motor. A medida que el hilo se rasga o desgasta, puede liberarse hilo adicional si se golpea

8. Reemplazo de hilo
AVISO: Siempre use hilo de corte de nailon
torcido triangular de un tamaño que no supere las
0,08 pulgadas (2 mm). El uso de hilos diferentes
de los especicados puede ocasionar que la
orilladora se sobrecaliente o se dañe.

• No use hilo reforzado con metal, alambre ni
cuerda, etc. Estos materiales pueden romperse

a. Presione las dos lengüetas de liberación en
la base del carrete y retire el retenedor del

b. Retire el carrete. Use un paño limpio para

carrete y la base del carrete.

lithium-ion battery pack will provide optimal performance in
temperatures between 32°F (0°C) and 104°F (40°C).

for approximately 5 seconds.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Low Capacity Warning
If one LED of the power indicator (C) begins to ash, the battery
pack is charged to less than 20% of its capacity and should be
recharged.
Unlike other types of battery packs, lithium-ion battery packs deliver
fade-free power for their entire run time. The tool will not experience
a slow, gradual loss of power as it is used. The power delivered to
the tool will drop quickly when the battery pack is at the end of its
run time and needs to be charged. It is not necessary to completely
discharge the battery pack before recharging. Remove the battery
pack from the tool and recharge it when it is convenient or when it
is not in use.
Battery Protection
The battery circuitry protects the battery pack from extreme
temperature, over-discharge, and over-charge. To protect the battery
pack from damage and prolong its life, the battery pack circuitry will
turn off the battery pack if it becomes overloaded or if the temperature
becomes too high during use. This may happen in extremely high
torque, binding, and stalling situations. This system will begin normal
operation when it returns to 32°F (0°C) - 122°F (50°C).
The power indicator (C) will display four ashing LED lights if the
circuitry detects a momentary overload. Reset the battery pack by
pressing the power-indicator button (A). Press the power indicator
button again to display the remaining charge.
NOTICE: A signicantly reduced run time after fully charging the
battery pack indicates that the batteries are near the end of their
usable life and must be replaced.

2. Cold Weather Operation
This lithium-ion battery pack will provide optimal performance in
temperatures between 32°F (0°C) and 104°F (40°C). When the
battery pack is very cold, it may “pulse” for the rst minute of use to
warm itself. Put the battery pack on a tool and use the tool in a light
application. After about a minute, the battery pack will have warmed
itself and will operate normally.
3. To Charge the Battery Pack
NOTICE: This lithium-ion battery pack is shipped partially charged.
Before using it the rst time, fully charge the battery pack.
A fully discharged battery pack will charge in about 70 minutes with
charger KRC 2490-03 in a surrounding temperature between
41°F (5°C) and 104°F (40°C).

All maintenance should only be carried out by a qualied
service technician.
Dispose of used battery packs promptly. Keep battery packs
away from children. Do not disassemble battery packs and do not
dispose of them in re.
Cleaning
Before cleaning or performing any maintenance, remove the
battery pack from the tool. For safe and proper operation, always
keep the tool and its ventilation slots clean.
Always use only a soft, dry cloth to clean your battery pack; never
use detergent or alcohol.
3-YEAR HASSLE-FREE WARRANTY
For 3 years from date of purchase the battery is warranted for
the original purchaser to be free from defects in material and
workmanship. This guarantee does not cover damage due to
abuse, normal wear, improper maintenance, neglect, unauthorized

Advertencia de poca capacidad
Si una bombilla LED del indicador de alimentación (C) comienza a
destellar, el paquete de baterías está cargado con menos del 20%
de su capacidad y se debe volver a cargar.
A diferencia de otros paquetes de baterías, los paquetes de
baterías de litio-ión entregan una fuerza que no decae durante todo
su funcionamiento. La herramienta no sufrirá una pérdida gradual
y lenta de potencia mientras se usa. La potencia que se entrega a
la herramienta bajará rápidamente cuando el paquete de baterías
se encuentre al nal de su tiempo de funcionamiento y se deba
cargar. No es necesario descargar completamente el paquete de
baterías antes de volver a cargarlo. Retire el paquete de baterías
de la herramienta y recárguelo cuando sea conveniente o cuando
no esté en uso.
Protección de la batería
El circuito de la batería protege al paquete de baterías de la
temperatura extrema, sobre descarga y sobre carga. Para
proteger el paquete de baterías de daños y prolongar su vida, el
circuito del paquete de baterías apagará el paquete de baterías
si se sobrecarga o si la temperatura sube demasiado mientras
está en uso. Esto puede suceder en situaciones de torsión
extremadamente alta, trabas y atascamiento. Este sistema
comenzará con su funcionamiento normal cuando la batería
regrese entre 0 °C (32 °F) y 50 °C (122 °F).
El indicador de alimentación (C) mostrará cuatro luces de

2. Uso en clima frío
El paquete de baterías de litio ión proporcionará un rendimiento
óptimo en un ambiente con temperaturas entre 0 °C (32 °F) y 40 °C
(104 °F). Cuando el paquete de baterías está muy frío, puede que
“pulse” durante el primer minuto de uso para entibiarse. Coloque
el paquete de baterías en una herramienta y use la herramienta
en una aplicación ligera. Después de un minuto, el paquete de
baterías se habrá entibiado y funcionará con normalidad.
3. Para cargar el paquete de baterías
AVISO: Este paquete de baterías de litio ión se envía con una

El paquete de baterías completamente descargado se cargará
en 70 minutos con el cargador KRC 2490-03 en un ambiente con

Know Your Battery Charger
Before attempting to use the battery charger, familiarize yourself
with all of its operating features and safety requirements.

sure to become familiar with all of the operating features and
safety instructions.
• Do not attempt to modify this charger or create accessories not
recommended for use with this charger. Any such alteration or
modication is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition
leading to possible serious personal injury.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. To Charge a Battery Pack
NOTICE: Battery packs are shipped in a low charge condition to
prevent possible problems. Before using it the rst time, fully charge
the battery pack. Refer to the operating manual for your battery
pack to determine charging times.
a. Charge the battery pack with the correct charger.
b. Connect the charger to a power supply. The red and green
LED charge indicators (B and C) will illuminate approximately
1 second then turn off.
c. Attach the battery pack
to the charger by aligning
the raised ribs of the
battery pack with the slot
in the charger. Slide the
battery pack onto the
charger (Fig. 1).
d. The charger will
communicate with the
battery pack’s circuitry to
evaluate the condition of
the battery pack. Please
refer to the Charger
Display section.
e. The green LED will ash continuously during normal charging.
f. After charging is complete, the green LED on the charger will be
on and the power indicator LEDs on the battery pack will turn off.
The power indicator LEDs will illuminate when the power indicator
button is pressed while the battery pack is off the charger.

Información acerca del cargador de batería
Antes de intentar usar el cargador de la batería, familiarícese con
todas sus características de operación y requisitos de seguridad.
ADVERTENCIA
• No permita que la familiaridad con el cargador de batería
disminuya su nivel de responsabilidad frente al producto.
Recuerde que un momento de descuido es suciente para
causar lesiones graves. Antes de intentar utilizar cualquier
herramienta, asegúrese de familiarizarse con todas las
funciones de operación e instrucciones de seguridad.
• No intente modicar esta herramienta ni crear accesorios que
no sean los recomendados para esta. Cualquier alteración o
modicación se la considera como un mal uso del producto y
podría causar una condición peligrosa que podría conllevar
lesiones personales graves.

1. Cómo cargar un paquete de baterías
AVISO: Los paquetes de baterías se envían con una carga baja
para evitar posibles problemas. Antes de usarlo por primera vez,
debe cargar el paquete de baterías por completo. Consulte el
manual de funcionamiento del paquete de baterías para determinar
los tiempos de carga.
a. Cargue el paquete de baterías con el cargador correcto.
b. Conecte el cargador a un suministro de electricidad. Los
indicadores de carga de bombilla LED rojo y verde (B y C) se
iluminan por aproximadamente un segundo y luego se apagan.
c. Conecte el paquete de
baterías al cargador
al alinear las varillas
elevadas del paquete de
baterías con la ranura en
el cargador. Deslice el
paquete de baterías sobre
el cargador (Fig. 1).
d. El cargador se comunicará
con el circuito del paquete
de baterías para evaluar
la condición de este
último. Vea la sección
Exhibidor de cargador.
e. La bombilla LED verde destellará de forma continua durante el
proceso de carga normal.
f. Cuando termine de cargar, la bombilla LED verde en el cargador
se encenderá y las bombillas LED indicadoras de alimentación
en el paquete de baterías se apagarán. Las bombillas LED
indicadoras de alimentación se iluminarán cuando presione el
botón indicador de alimentación mientras el paquete de baterías
no esté en el cargador.

AVISO:
• El paquete de baterías se cargará por completo, pero no se
sobrecargará si se deja en el cargador.
• El cargador se debe entibiar con varios ciclos continuos de
carga. Esto es parte del funcionamiento normal del cargador.
Siempre cargue el paquete de baterías en un área bien
ventilada.
Baterías de litio ión
No es necesario descargar el paquete de baterías de litio ión
antes de volver a cargarlo. Retire el paquete de baterías de la
herramienta y cárguelo nuevamente según sea necesario.

3. Oricios para instalación en pared
El cargador cuenta con
oricios para colgar que
facilitan el almacenaje.
Coloque tornillos en la pared
a una distancia de 5,71 cm
entre ellos. Use tornillos
lo sucientemente fuertes
para que sostengan el peso
combinado del cargador y el
paquete de baterías.
CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO
Todos los mantenimientos se deben realizar únicamente por
una organización de servicio calicada.
Limpieza
Antes de limpiar o realizar cualquier mantenimiento,
desconecte el cargador de batería de la fuente de alimentación.
Para un uso seguro y adecuado, siempre mantenga limpios el
cargador y sus ranuras de ventilación.
Siempre use un paño suave y seco para limpiar el cargador de
batería; nunca use detergente ni alcohol.

3 AÑOS DE GARANTÍA SIN PROBLEMAS
El cargador está garantizado contra defectos de fabricación en
materiales y mano de obra por 3 años desde la fecha de compra
para el comprador original. Esta garantía no cubre daños por el
abuso, desgaste normal, mantenimiento inadecuado, negligencia,
reparación/alteración no autorizada o piezas fungibles y accesorios
que se esperan que sean inutilizables después de un período de
uso razonable.
Si cree que este producto cumple con la garantía mencionada
arriba, devuelva el producto al lugar donde lo compró con un
comprobante de compra válido y el producto defectuoso se
reparará o reemplazará sin cargo. Esta garantía le otorga derechos
