DESCRIPTION: Henry #203
®
Roofing Adhesive is a premium,
brush or squeegee grade, waterproof adhesive made from
asphalt, solvents and organic fibers. As a replacement for hot
asphalt in built-up roofing (BUR) applications, #203 is
designed for bonding layers of asphalt coated base
sheets. Can also be used to bond selvedge laps on
composition and 90 lb. asphalt roll roofing. Henry
#203 Roofing Adhesive gives the following
benefits:
• SAFE – Eliminates burn and fire hazards of
hot asphalt.
• STRONG – Greater cohesive strength for a
reliable roof.
• FLEXIBLE – Greater cold weather flexibility
than hot asphalt.
• EFFICIENT – Cold-Ap requires less labor
than hot asphalt.
• APPROVED – U.L. Class A in a variety of roof
systems.
USES: Recommended for use in BUR applications
with:
• 25# lb. or heavier asphalt-coated fiberglass base sheets
• Conventional mineral surfaced cap sheet
• Polyester fabric
• Bonding gravel or granule surfacing
SURFACE PREPARATION: When applying over an existing roof
membrane, the roof surface must be clean, dry, smooth and even.
Blisters, buckles and raised edges should be cut and flattened.
Check flashings, edgings, drains, valleys and vents, and repair
as needed.
NOTE: A roof membrane in poor condition, moisture in the existing
roof or local building codes may require tear off of an old roof.
APPLICATION: Henry #203
®
is suitable for application with a
notched squeegee or 4-knot roofing brush. Stir adhesive to
uniform consistency before using. Do not thin. Apply adhesive
evenly and uniformly with full coverage between each layer. After
adhesive is applied, a few minutes of “open time” will accelerate
curing time. Roofing may usually be placed up to 1/2 hour after
adhesive has been applied. While adhesive is tacky, press roofing
into adhesive by brooming. Roll with a weighted roller several
hours later. Adhesion is improved by brushing underside of sheets
at laps and walls with a thin film of adhesive. Remove excess
adhesive from exposed surfaces. On laps, apply only a sufficient
quantity of adhesive such that a small bead of product appears
after pressing - in the lap. On slopes over 1” in 12”, blind nail 2nd
and 3rd layer 1” down from upper edge every 12”. Henry #505

vertical flashing or heavy duty sealing application is required.
BUILT-UP ROOFING: BUR is a demanding and exacting job for
the roofing professional – it is not recommended for the D-I-Yer. As
it is impossible to cover all the details of built-up roofing here,
follow the directions of the roofing material manufacturer and
follow NRCA guidelines for details and terminations.
TOP COATING: Allow 30 days of warm, dry weather before
surfacing BUR with emulsion and a reflective coating.
COVERAGE: Apply in uniform single coat of 1.5-2.0 gal/sq. as an
interply adhesive. Coverage varies with smoothness and porosity
of surface coated. Coverage of 3.5 gal/sq. when used to bond
granules or 6.0 gal/sq. for bonding gravel to roof membrane.
PRECAUTIONS: DO NOT USE with #15 or #30 saturated felts.
Not all APP torch down membranes are alike and as such
application of Henry #203
®
Roofing Adhesive with APP
membranes may not yield satisfactory results. Please contact the
Henry Technical Service Department and the APP membrane
manufacturer before proceeding. DO NOT USE with solvent
sensitive insulation, rubber or PVC sheet roofing. Weather should
be at least 65°F (18°C), dry and clear, with no threat of rain for 48
hours. CLOSE AIR IN TAKES ON ROOF UNTIL SOLVENTS
DISSIPATE! DO NOT HEAT CONTAINER. Do not store at
temperatures greater than 110°F (43°C). When transporting this
product, be sure the pail is secured and the lid is tight. Do not
allow pail to tumble as this may loosen the lid and allow leakage
to occur. For spray applications, use Henry #403 Cold-Ap
®
Cement or #902 PBA
®
Permanent Bond Adhesive.
Do not use this product as a coating, or to attempt to seal gravel,
rubber, or PVC sheet roofing, or shingles of any kind.
CLEAN UP: Remove dried adhesive from tools, etc., with
kerosene, paint thinner or mineral spirits or with an approved
low-VOC solvent. Clean hands with a waterless hand cleaner.
WARNING! COMBUSTIBLE!
Contains petroleum distillate. Keep away from heat and flame.
Do not heat container or store at temperatures greater than
110°F (43°C). CLOSE AIR INTAKES until solvents dissipate.
Contains volatile solvents that might contaminate potable
water. Close container after each use. Dispose of container
and unused contents in accordance with Local, State and
Federal regulations.
DANGER! HARMFUL OR FATAL IF SWALLOWED!
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting. CALL PHYSICIAN
IMMEDIATELY! Use protective measures to avoid contact with
eyes and skin. In case of eye contact, open eyelids wide and
flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes.
GET MEDICAL ATTENTION!
USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION!
Avoid breathing of vapor. If you experience eye watering,
headaches or dizziness, leave area or increase fresh air or wear
respirator (NIOSH/MSHA TC 23C or equal). Repeated and
prolonged occupational over exposure to solvent vapor may
cause permanent brain and nervous system damage, and may
cause liver or kidney damage.

EMPLOYERS should obtain a copy of the Material Safety Data
Sheet (MSDS) from your supplier or directly from Henry at the
toll free number or website below.
NOTE: This adhesive, like all asphalt-based products, forms a
small amount of water soluble material as it weathers. Normally
this is not noticeable because the rain washes it away. However,
roofs having a pitch less than 1/2" per foot, or ones having poor
drainage, will accentuate the problem by concentrating the water
soluble material in low spots. If there is no rainfall, hose these
roofs off to remove the water solubles. Frequent inspection of
these roofs is recommended because abnormally rapid
deterioration of any roofing material may occur where water
stands for long periods.

this product is free of defects, since many factors which affect the
results obtained from this product - such as weather,
workmanship, equipment utilized and prior condition of the
substrate - are all beyond our control. We will replace at no charge
any product proved to be defective within 12 months of purchase,
provided it has been applied in accordance with our written
directions for uses we recommended as suitable for this product.

Roofing Adhesive es un adhesivo
de primera, a prueba de agua, degrado cepillo o escobilla de goma
(squeegee), hechos con asfalto, solventes y fibras orgánicas. En
calidad de reemplazo del asfalto caliente en las aplicaciones de
techados compuestos (built-up roofing, BUR), el #203 está
diseñado para pegar capasde hojas de base cubiertas de asfalto.
Puede ser utilizado también para pegar regazos del orillo en la

USOS: Recomendado para usarse en aplicaciones BUR con:

• Hojas de recubrimiento convencionales de superficie mineral
• Tela de poliéster
• Superficies de grava o gránulos de unión
PREPARACIÓN DE LA SUPERFICIE: Cuando lo aplique sobrela
membrana de un techo existente, la superficie del techo tiene que
estar limpia, seca, lisa y pareja. Las ampollas, pandeos y bordes
elevados deben recortarse y aplanarse. Revise los tapajuntas de
metal, bordes, drenajes, valles y ventilas, y repárelos según se
necesite.
NOTA: Una membrana de techo en malas condiciones, humedad en
el techo existente o los códigos de construcción local pueden
requerir que se quite el techo viejo.
APLICACIÓN: El Henry #203
®
es apropiado para ser aplicadocon
una escobilla de goma con muescas o con un cepillo de 4 nudos
para techos. Bata el adhesivo a una consistencia uniforme antes de
usarlo. No lo adelgace. Aplique el adhesivo en forma pareja y
uniforme con una cobertura completa entrecada capa. Después de
aplicarlo, unos cuantos minutos «al airelibre» acelerarán el tiempo
de fraguado. El techado se puede colocar hasta una media hora
después de que se haya aplicado el adhesivo. Mientras el adhesivo
esté pegajoso, oprima el techado barriéndolo en el adhesivo. Pase
un aplanadora de rueda pesada varias horas después. La adhesión
se mejora cepillando por debajo de las hojas en lasnapas y paredes
con una película delgada de adhesivo. Quite elexceso de adhesivo
de las superficies expuestas. En regazos, aplique sólo una cantidad
suficiente de adhesivo tantoque una pequeña cuenta del producto
aparezca después deapretar - en el regazo. En los declives de más
de 1 pulgada por cada 12 pulgadas, clave las capas 2 y 3,
ocultando los clavos, a 1” abajo del borde superior y a cada 12”.

TECHADOS COMPUESTOS: Este tipo de techado (el BUR) esuna
labor exigente y precisa para el profesional en techados – no se
recomienda para quienes gustan de hacer las cosas porsí mismos.
Dado que es imposible cubrir todos los detallessobre los techados
compuestos BUR en esta etiqueta, apéguese a las instrucciones del
fabricante de los materiales de techado y siga los lineamientos
NRCA para los detalles y acabados.
REVESTIMIENTO DE ARRIBA: Deje que pase 30 días de clima
cálido y seco antes de revestir el techado BUR con emulsión yun

COBERTURA: Apliqúese en la sola uniforme de 1.5-2.0 gal/sq.
como interply un adhesivo. La cobertura varía con suavidad y
porosidad de la superficie cubierta. Cobertura de 3.5 gal/sq.

PRECAUCIONES: NO LO USE con felpas saturadas #15 o #30. No
todas las membranas APP aplicadas con antorchas son parecidas y
debido a esto la aplicación del Henry #203
®
Roofing Adhesive con
membranas APP puede que no den reultados satisfactorios. Por favor
contacte el Departamento Tecnico de Servicio de Henry y el manu-
facturador de la membrana APP antes de proceder. NO LO USE con
aislamiento sensible a los solventes, ni con techados de hojas decau-
cho o de cloruro de polivinilo (PVC). El clima debe ser por lomenos de
18°C (65°F), seco y claro, sin amenaza de lluvia durante48 horas.
¡CIERRE LAS TOMAS DE AIRE DEL TECHO HASTAQUE SE DISIPEN
LOS SOLVENTES! No caliente el envase ni loguarde a temperaturas
de más de 43°C (110°F). Cuando transporte este producto,
cerciórese de que el envase esté seguroy la tapa apretada.
No deje que el envase dé vuelcos ya que estopodría aflojar la tapa
y permitir que ocurra una fuga. Para las aplicaciones con rociador,
use el cemento Henry #403 Cold-Ap
®
o #902 PBA
®
Permanent
Bond Adhesive. No use este producto como un
revestimiento, o trate de sellar grava, caucho, o laminas de techos
PVC, o ripias de cualquier clase.
LIMPIEZA: Quite el adhesivo secado de las herramientas, etc.,
usando queroseno, diluyente depintura (tíner) o alcoholes minerales
o con un solvente apropiado de bajos compuestos orgánicos
volátiles (VOC por sus siglas en inglés de Volatile Organic
Compounds). Límpiese las manos con un limpiador demanos que
no sea a base de agua.
¡ADVERTENCIA! ¡COMBUSTIBLE!
Contiene destilado de petróleo. Manténgalo alejado de
fuentesde calor y de las llamas. No caliente el envase ni lo
guarde a temperaturas de más de 43°C (110°F). CIERRE LAS
TOMASDE AIRE hasta que se hayan disipado los solventes.
Contiene solventes volátiles que podrían contaminar el agua
potable. Cierre el envase después de cada uso. Deseche el
recipiente yel contenido que no fue usado, de acuerdo con los
reglamentos locales, estatales y federales.

Si este producto se traga, no induzca el vómito. ¡LLAME

Evite respirar los vapores. Si los ojos le lloran, le da dolor
decabeza o se siente mareado, salga del área o aumente la
cantidad de aire fresco o use un respirador (NIOSH/MSHA
TC23C o semejante). La exposición excesiva repetida y
prologadaen el trabajo a vapores de solventes puede ocasionar
daños permanentes al cerebro y al sistema nervioso, así como
daños al hígado y a los riñones.
