Indication for use
The non-contact forehead thermometer, Model FT90, is an infrared thermometer intended
for the periodic measurement of human body temperature for persons of all ages. Additio-
nally it can measure the room and object temperature in seconds.

3. Information about this thermometer
The temperature measurement varies depending on the part of the body where the mea-
surement is taken. In a healthy person, the variance can be between 0.4 °F and 1.8 °F (0.2 °C
and 1 °C) in di erent parts of the body.
The result of FT90 is shown as oral temperature.
Beurer tip
•
Temperatures measured with di erent thermometers should never be compared
with one another.
•
Tell your doctor what type of thermometer you used to take your temperature
and on what part of the body. Also bear this in mind if you are diagnosing your-
self.
Holding the thermometer for too long in the hand before taking a measurement can
cause the device to warm up. This means the measurement could be incorrect.
Infl uences on body temperature

A person’s individual metabolism
•
Age
Body temperature is higher in babies and toddlers than in adults. Greater temperature
fl uctuations occur faster and more often in children. Normal body temperature decreases
with age.

Clothing
•
Outside temperature
•
Time of day
Body temperature is lower in the morning and increases throughout the day towards eve-
ning.
•
Activities
Physical and, to a lesser extent, mental activities increase body temperature.

Beurer tip
Taking the body temperature provides a current measurement of a person’s tem-
perature. If you are uncertain about interpreting the results or if the values are
abnormal (e.g. fever), please consult your doctor. This also applies in the case of
slight temperature changes if there are other symptoms of illness such as agita-
tion, severe sweating, fl ushed skin, fast pulse rate, tendency to collapse, etc.

5. Initial use
If provided, pull out the battery insulating strip at the battery compartment or remove the
protective fi lm from the battery and insert the battery with the correct polarity.

6. Switching on and setting the thermometer
The measuring sensor should be cleaned before and after each use, to eliminate
dirt and fi ngerprints and ensure accuracy of your readings.
Briefl y press the On/O button
.
After a brief self-test and two short beeps the thermometer is ready for forehead measure-
ment.
The device always starts up in forehead temperature mode .
6.1 Setting the basic functions
This menu allows you to set the following functions individually, one after another.
Time format
•
With the thermometer switched on, press and hold
the LIGHT/SET button for 5 seconds.
The time format option fl ashes on the display (fi g. 1).
•
Use the MODE/MEM button to set your preferred
time format and confi rm with the LIGHT/SET button.

degrees Fahrenheit (°F) or degrees Celsius (°C).

To display the temperature in Celsius, select °C
using the MODE/MEM button and confi rm with the
LIGHT/SET button.

using the MODE/MEM button and confi rm with the
LIGHT/SET button.

Acoustic signal
The acoustic signal symbol fl ashes in the display (fi g. 6).
You can activate/deactivate the acoustic signals (device
activation, measurement in progress, measurement
completion).
•
To activate the acoustic signals, select using the
MODE/MEM button and confi rm with the LIGHT/
SET button.
•
To deactivate the acoustic signals, select
using the MODE/MEM button and confi rm with the
LIGHT/SET button.

Illuminated display

You can activate or deactivate the automatic illuminated
display (appears following forehead temperature mea-
surement).
•
To activate the automatic illuminated display, select
using the MODE/MEM button and confi rm with
the LIGHT/SET button.

To deactivate the automatic illuminated display,
select using the MODE/MEM button and con-
fi rm with the LIGHT/SET button.

The display lights up for 5 seconds.
The automatic and manual illuminated display cannot be used while measure-
ment is in progress.

Beurer tip
Remember that
•
physical activity, increased perspiration on the forehead, taking vasoconstrictive
medication and skin irritations can distort the result.
•
the forehead must be free from perspiration and cosmetics.
•
before taking a reading, please remain indoors at room temperature for 5 min-
utes avoiding exercise or taking a bath for 30 min prior reading.
•
in case of doubt, please measure several times and take the highest measure-
ment value.

Hold the thermometer 0.78“ – 1.18“ from the indicated point on the
middle of the forehead (Fig.8) and press the Start-measurement
button. The end of measurement is signaled by a long beep. The
measuring time is usually less than 1 second. Release the Start-mea-
surement button. You can now read the measurement value.
Note: Only one single measurement is taken at a single spot in the mid-
dle of the forehead.
In addition to the temperature, the fever or no fever symbols also
appears in the display:
The no fever symbol
indicates that the body temperature is within normal range; the
fever symbol indicates a measurement of over 100.4°F, i.e. temperature alarm.
The device is ready to take another measurement when two short beeps sound and the
forehead symbol stops fl ashing.
The measurement is automatically saved with the date/time and the “fever”
/
“no fever” classifi cation.
Note:
•
It is not necessary to fi nd an artery as the FT90 (oral measurement equal) reads oral
temperature based on the skin and ambient temperature of one point in the middle of
the forehead.
•
There is no need to scan across the skin.
•
Holding the thermometer in one place too long may cause a higher ambient tempera-
ture reading which could make the body temperature reading lower than usual.

7.1 Displaying saved measurements
The device only stores measurements in forehead temperature mode . The device auto-
matically stores the values from the last 60 measurements.
When 60 storage places are exceeded the oldest value is deleted.
The memory can be called up as follows:
•
With the thermometer switched on, press and hold the MODE/MEM button for 5 seconds.
The most recent measurement is displayed.
•
With each subsequent pressing of the MODE/MEM button, fi rst the storage space num-
ber is displayed followed by the measurement upon release.
•
In the upper line, the time and date are displayed alternately.
8. Measuring object temperature / room temperature
Object temperature mode
If you want to measure an object temperature with this thermometer, switch
to object temperature mode.
•
With the thermometer switched on, briefl y press the MODE/MEM button.
The device switches to the object temperature mode .
•
Hold the thermometer 0.78”-1.18” from the measuring point. Briefl y press
the Start-measurement button and read the temperature in the display
(fi g. 9).
Measurements taken in object temperature mode are not stored.

Room temperature mode
If you want to use the thermometer to measure the room temperature you
need to switch to room temperature mode.
•
With the thermometer switched on, briefl y press the MODE/MEM but-
ton twice.
The device switches to the room temperature mode
.
•
The room temperature is immediately displayed (fi g. 10).
Measurements taken in room temperature mode are not stored.

Use a pointed object to press down on the battery

battery compartment downwards.

Take the used batteries out of the battery compartment.

Insert new batteries.
Make sure that the batteries are inserted the right way round.
•
Close the battery compartment.
Used batteries should not be disposed of in normal household waste. You are legally
required to dispose of the batteries. Dispose of them via your electronics retailer or your
local recycling point.

Note: The codes below are printed on batteries containing harmful substances:
Pb = battery contains lead, Cd = battery contains cadmium, Hg = battery
contains mercury. The batteries in this device do not contain any pollutants.
11. Cleaning the device
NOTICE:
•
Do not subject the device to mechanical impacts.
•
When not in use, store the thermometer in the provided storage case.
•
Do not expose the device to liquids. The device is not waterproof. Avoid all
direct contact with water or other liquids.
•
Do not expose the device to direct sunlight.
•
Clean the measuring sensor before each use.
•
Do not touch the measuring sensor with fi ngers.
•
The measuring sensor is the most sensitive part of the thermometer. Take great
care of the measuring sensor when cleaning the device.
•
Do not use any harsh cleaning products.
•
Always observe all safety notes for user and device.

Clean the measuring sensor after each use. Use a clean cloth or cotton bud that can be
moistened with disinfectant or 70 % alcohol.
To clean the entire device, please use a soft cloth slightly moistened with a mild soapy solu-
tion. Under no circumstances may liquid enter the device.

12. Storing the device
The device must not be stored or used at an excessively high or low temperature or humid-
ity (see technical specifi cations), in sunlight, in association with an electrical current or in
dusty locations. Otherwise inaccuracies can occur.
If prolonged storage is planned, you should remove the batteries.
When not in use, store the thermometer in the provided storage case.
13. Disposing of the device
Observe the loval regulations for material disposal. Dispose the device in accordance
with local regulations.

If the device is used other than in accordance with the specifi cations, perfect functioning
cannot be guaranteed!

15. Warranty
Limited Lifetime Warranty For Original Purchaser
Your Beurer Thermometer, Model FT90, excluding the battery, is warranted to be free from
defects in materials and workmanship for the life of the product under normal conditions
of intended use and service. This warranty extends only to the original retail purchaser and
does not extend to retailers or subsequent owners.
We will, at our option, repair or replace the Beurer Thermometer, Model FT90, without
additional charge, for any part or parts covered by these written warranties. No refunds
will be given. Repair or replacement is our only responsibility and your only remedy under
this written warranty. If replacement parts for defective materials are not available, Beurer
reserves the right to make product substitutions in lieu of repair or replacement.
For warranty service contact our customer service department at 1-800-536-0366 or at
info@beurer.com to provide a description of the problem. If the problem is deemed to be
within the scope of the limited lifetime warranty, you will be asked to mail the product at
your costs in its original package with proof of purchase, your name, address and phone
number. If the problem is not deemed to be within the scope of the limited lifetime warranty,
we will provide a quotation for repair respectively replacement and return shipping fee.
This warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse or abuse; accident; the attach-
ment of unauthorized accessory; alteration to the product; improper installation; misappli-
cation; lack of reasonable care with respect to the product; unauthorized repairs or modi-
fi cations; improper use of electrical/power supply; old worn battery; normal wear; loss of

3. Información acerca de este termómetro
La medición de temperatura varía dependiendo de la parte del cuerpo donde se realice.
En una persona saludable, la variación puede ser entre 0.4 y 1.8 °F (0.2 y 1 °C) en diferentes
partes del cuerpo.

rarse entre sí.

en los adultos. En los niños ocurren mayores fl uctuaciones de temperatura con más rapi-
dez y frecuencia. La temperatura corporal normal desciende con la edad.

Sugerencia de Beurer
La toma de la temperatura corporal proporciona una medición actual de la tempe-
ratura de una persona. Si no está seguro acerca de la interpretación de los resul-
tados o de si los valores son anormales (p. ej. fi ebre), consulte a su médico. Esto
también es aplicable en caso de cambios pequeños de temperatura si hay otros

6. Encendido y confi guración del termómetro
El sensor de medición debe limpiarse antes y después de cada uso para eliminar
la suciedad y huellas digitales y para asegurar la precisión de las lecturas.

Después de una autocomprobación y dos pitidos breves, el termómetro está listo para
medición en la frente.
El dispositivo siempre se enciende en modo de temperatura de la frente .

Sugerencia de Beurer

medicamentos vasoconstrictores y la irritación de la piel pueden alterar el resul-
tado.
•
la frente debe estar libre de sudoración y cosméticos.
•
antes de hacer una lectura, permanezca dentro de un edifi cio a tempera-
tura ambiente durante 5 minutos sin hacer ejercicio ni tomar un baño durante
30 minutos antes de la lectura.
•
en caso de duda, mida varias veces y tome el valor de medición más alto.
Mantenga el termómetro a una distancia entre 0.78” y 1.18” del punto
indicado en el centro de la frente (Fig. 8) y oprima el botón
Start-measurement (Iniciar medición). Un “bip” largo indica el fi nal de
la medición. El tiempo de medición suele ser inferior a un segundo.
Libere el botón Start-measurement. Ahora puede leer el valor de la
medición.
Nota: Se toma una sola medición en un solo punto en el centro de la
frente.
Además de la temperatura, los símbolos de
o sin fi ebre también aparecen en la pan-
talla:
El símbolo de sin fi ebre
indica que la temperatura corporal está dentro del rango nor-
mal; el símbolo de fi ebre
indica una medición de más de 100.4 °F, es decir, alarma de
temperatura.

El dispositivo está listo para realizar otra medición cuando suenan 1 pitidos breves y el sím-
bolo de la frente deja de destellar.
La medición se guarda automáticamente con la fecha/hora y la clasifi cación “fi ebre”
/“sin fi ebre” .
Nota:
•
No es necesario encontrar a una arteria ya que el FT 90 (igual a medición oral) sola-
mente lee la temperatura oral basada en la temperatura de piel y ambiente de un punto
en el medio de la frente.
•
No ha necesidad de hacer un barrido a través de la piel.
•
Si se sostiene el termómetro en un lugar demasiado tiempo, se puede provocar una
lectura de temperatura ambiente más alta que podría hacer que la lectura de la tem-
peratura corporal sea inferior a la usual.
7.1 Presentación de mediciones guardadas
El dispositivo solamente almacena mediciones en modo de temperatura de la frente .
El dispositivo almacena automáticamente los valores de las últimas 60 mediciones.
Cuando se superan 60 lugares de almacenamiento, el valor más antiguo se elimina.
La memoria puede extraerse como sigue:
•
Con el termómetro encendido, presione y mantenga así el botón MODE/MEM durante
5 segundos.
Se muestra la medición más reciente.
•
Cada vez que se presiona subsecuentemente el botón MODE/MEM, primero se muestra
el número del espacio de almacenamiento seguido de la medición al soltarlo.
•
En la línea superior se muestran la hora y la fecha en forma alternante.

8. Medición de la temperatura de objetos / temperatura ambiente
Modo de temperatura de objetos
Si desea medir la temperatura de un objeto con este termómetro, cam-
bie a modo de temperatura de objetos.
•
Con el termómetro encendido, presione brevemente el botón MODE/
MEM.
El dispositivo cambia al modo de temperatura de objetos
.
•
Sostenga el termómetro entre 0.78” y 1.18” (2 y 3 cm) del punto de
medición. Presione brevemente el botón Start-medición y lea la
temperatura en la pantalla (Fig. 9).
Las mediciones realizadas en el modo de temperatura de objetos no se
guardan.

Si desea usar el termómetro para medir la temperatura ambiente, nece-
sita cambiar a modo de temperatura ambiente.
•
Con el termómetro encendido, presione brevemente el botón MODE/
MEM dos veces.
El dispositivo cambia al modo de temperatura ambiente
.
•
La temperatura ambiente se muestra inmediatamente (Fig. 10).
Las mediciones realizadas en el modo de temperatura ambiente no se
guardan.

10. Baterías
ADVERTENCIA:
•
La ingestión de baterías olíquido de baterías puede ser sumamente peligrosa.
Mantenga la batería y el dispositivo fuera del alcance de los niños. En caso de
que un niño, u otra persona, llegara a ingerir una batería o líquido de batería,
llame de inmediato al 911.
•
En caso de que el líquido de la batería se derrame yhaga contacto con los ojos
opiel, enjuague de inmediato con agua limpia en abundancia. Llame de inme-
diato al911.
•
Las baterías no deben cargarse ni reactivarse por ningún otro medio.
•
Las baterías no deben abrirse, arrojarse al fuego ni conectarse en corto circuito.
PRECAUCIÓN:
•
Si una batería presenta fugas, no toque el líquido de la batería. Evite el contacto
con la piel (use guantes protectores) ylimpie el compartimiento de la batería con
una tela seca.
AVISO:
•
Use siempre el tamaño y tipo de baterías indicadas.
•
Nunca use baterías recargables. Esto puede dañar la unidad.
•
Cambie las baterías que tienen poca carga antes de que se descarguen comple-
tamente. Cambie las baterías cuando aparezca “ ” en la pantalla.

Las baterías con fuga pueden dañar el dispositivo. Si no va a usar el termómetro
durante un periodo largo, retire las baterías de su compartimiento antes de guar-
dar el dispositivo.
•
Las baterías pueden contener toxinas nocivas para el medio ambiente. Deseche
siempre las baterías de acuerdo con las normas locales correspondientes. No
deseche las baterías junto con la basura doméstica normal.
Este dispositivo funciona con dos baterías AAA (LR03).
•
Abra el compartimiento de la batería.
Use un objeto puntiagudo para presionar el seguro
del compartimiento de la batería y al mismo tiempo
deslice el compartimiento hacia abajo.
•
Retire las baterías usadas del compartimiento.
•
Inserte nuevas baterías.
Asegúrese de que las baterías queden insertadas en forma correcta.
•
Cierre el compartimiento de la batería.
Las baterías usadas no deben desecharse con la basura doméstica normal. Se requiere
que deseche las baterías de acuerdo con la ley. Deseche las baterías a través de una tienda
de electrónicos o centro de reciclaje local.
Nota: Los siguientes códigos están impresos en las baterías que contienen
sustancias nocivas: Pb = la batería contiene plomo, Cd = la batería contiene
cadmio, Hg = la batería contiene mercurio. Las baterías en este dispositivo no
contienen ningún contaminante.
11. Limpieza del dispositivo

Limpie el sensor de medición después de cada uso. Use una tela limpia o un hisopo de
algodón que pueda humedecerse con desinfectante o alcohol al 70 %.
Para limpiar el dispositivo completo, use una tela suave humedecida en una solución jabo-
nosa suave. Bajo ninguna circunstancia debe ingresar líquido en el dispositivo.
No use el dispositivo nuevamente hasta que esté completamente seco.
12. Almacenamiento del dispositivo
El dispositivo no debe almacenarse ni usarse a una temperatura o humedad excesivamente
alta o baja (vea las especifi caciones técnicas), en la luz del sol o en asociación con una
corriente eléctrica o lugares polvorientos. De otra forma, pueden ocurrir imprecisiones.
Si planea almacenarlo durante un tiempo largo, retire las baterías.
Cuando no lo use, guarde el termómetro en el estuche que se le proporciona.
13. Desecho del dispositivo
Aplique las normas locales para desecho de materiales. Deseche el dispositivo de
acuerdo con las normas locales.

Su termómetro Beurer, modelo FT90, excluyendo las baterías, está garantizado de estar

condiciones normales del uso y servicio propuestos. Esta garantía se aplica solamente al
comprador original y no se extiende a vendedores minoristas o futuros propietarios.
A nuestra discreción, repararemos o reemplazaremos el termómetro Beurer, modelo FT90,
sin cargo adicional, por cualquier parte o partes cubiertas por esta garantía escrita. No se
harán reembolsos. La reparación o reemplazo es nuestra única responsabilidad y el único
recurso de usted bajo esta garantía escrita. Si no hay partes de reemplazo para los mate-
riales defectuosos, Beurer se reserva el derecho de sustituciones del producto en lugar de
reparación o reemplazo.
