When steaming, always keep the unit in motion and about one inch from the surface of the item being steamed to avoid potential damage. Do not continuously hold steamer over an area or touch steamer jets directly to fabric as this can cause damage, including shrinkage, melting, or color shift to certain types of material. 27. In the case of heavier, durable fabrics such as wool coats or bedding, slower passes with the steamer may be necessary to achieve desired results. As always, start by testing on an inconspicuous area of the item to be steamed to ensure fabric can tolerate the effects of steam and adjust your technique as needed to obtain the results desired. Instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect. 17. Burns could occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use care when removing water tank or when you turn a steam appliance upside down – there may be hot water in reservoir. 18. To reduce likelihood of circuit overload, do not operate another high-wattage appliance on the same circuit at the same time. 19. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15 ampererated cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. 20. Always remove the water tank from the appliance before filling it with distilled water. 21. When changing attachments, please be sure the unit is off and no steam is being released, in order to avoid contact with hot water. STEAMER ASSEMBLY Attaching the Telescopic Pole and Rotating Hanger 1. Remove the thumb screw from the bottom of the telescopic pole. 2. Insert the telescopic pole into the opening on the back of the steamer. Press down firmly to ensure the pole has reached the bottom. Replace the screw securing the pole to the base of the garment steamer. 3. Fully extend the telescopic pole, making sure to lock the pole upright by engaging the two clips. 4. Place hanger assembly atop the pole, and hang the steam nozzle from the cradle. 5. Hang your garment in preparation for steaming away wrinkles. The hanger rotates 360 degrees. Turn the hanger as you wish during steaming. 6. When you are ready to steam, fill the water tank from the top opening with distilled water. Note: Do not open the bottom cap as this is used for cleaning or removing excess water only. 7. Plug the steamer unit into a standard 120V AC power outlet. 8. The bristle brush and soft cushion brush attachments easily snap over the soleplate for use. We recommend using the soft cushion brush attachment when steaming delicate fabrics. Do not use outdoors or operate where aerosol (spray) products are being used or where oxygen is being administered. 9. Do not use an extension cord to operate appliance. 10. Surfaces of this appliance may be hot when in use. Do not let heated surfaces touch eyes or skin. 11. Do not place the steam nozzle directly on any surface or on the appliance power cord while it is hot or plugged in. Use the stand provided. TURNING STEAMER ON 1. Remove water tank from base, fill with distilled water, and PRESS tank down into the main unit. 2. Press the foot activated power switch once to turn the unit ON. (Fig. 1) 3. While water is heating, the green light will blink. (Fig. 1) 4. Once the green light is steady, the unit is ready to use. 5. Press the trigger switch on the steam head to release A steam (A). 6. For continuous high-velocity steam, use the trigger lock (A). (Fig. 2) 7. The rotary switch on the steam head allows user to select the steam mode desired. NOTE: The first setting emits steam through the soleplate, while the second setting emits steam from the top as well as the sides. You can adjust the amount of steam coming out on the sides by turning the dial more toward the multidirectional steam setting or more toward the unidirectional setting. 8. When water level is low, an audio warning will sound. Refill the water tank at this time to continue using the steamer. 9. Press the foot activated power switch again to turn the unit OFF. This fabric steamer is equipped with a built-in creaser. Once the steamer has been set up and turned ON according to the instructions, follow these steps for sharp creases in your garment: 1. Move selector switch to the 3-directional steam setting on nozzle. 2. Hold sleeve or pants leg by the cuff and slide nozzle over the fabric. Position fabric fully inside the creaser opening on the nozzle head. USING THE BUILT-IN CREASER USING PANTS CLIP SYSTEM This fabric steamer is equipped with a pants clip system for holding pants taut for faster and more effective steaming. (Fig. 3) You may use the two top pants clips which are attached to the hanger to secure the top of your garment. (Fig. 3) The bottom clips can be adjusted by pulling them up to reach the bottom of the pants you are steaming. Please note: Some pants may be too long to use the bottom clips. If that is the case, simply use the top clips and let your pants hang freely. 3. Utilice este aparato únicamente con el propósito para el cual fue diseñado y solamente según las instrucciones. NOTE: Be sure to always empty or fill the tank over a sink, being careful not to spill water from small opening on the top of the (Fig. 4) tank. FILLING THE WATER TANK (PRIOR TO PLUGGING IN THE APPLIANCE) Remove the water tank using handle on top of tank. Fill reservoir using opening on top of tank with distilled TOP water until it is filled to the desired level. Do not overfill. Position the water tank on the base and make certain it is seated properly in the unit. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 3 . Turn the nozzle 90 degrees so the fabric is taut and ensure that the crease is positioned properly. Caution, steam will exit from both sides of the nozzle. 4. While maintaining the tension on the fabric, run the nozzle up and down the garment, allowing the steam and tension to create the desired crease. Soft Cushion Brush Attachment To decalcify, add a solution of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 distilled water in the water tank. Place the water tank in the unit. Plug the unit into electrical outlet. Turn to the ON position and run until half the amount has steamed (1 liter). Turn the unit to the OFF position, unplug from electrical outlet, and allow to sit for 30 minutes. DECALCIFICATION If the appliance begins to produce steam more slowly than usual or stops producing steam and then starts again, you may need to decalcify your steamer. Decalcification refers to removing the calcium deposits that form over time on the metal parts of the steamer. For best performance from the steamer, decalcify the unit once a month. The frequency depends upon how often you use the steamer. With practice, you will gain speed and efficiency. You will soon learn which fabrics require multiple steam applications. NOTE: Test fabric for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot. Drape linens, towels, handkerchiefs, and napkins over a rod or place on a towel rack. Heavier fabrics may require repeated steaming. Begin at the bottom of the fabric to allow the steam to rise inside and outside, removing wrinkles. Slowly move the nozzle from the bottom to the top of the fabric. Some fabrics are best steamed on the underside of the material. This will allow the fibers of the fabric to relax, eliminating wrinkles. Try the multidirectional steam setting for use inside garments, to freshen and help eliminate odors. Use the soleplate to help remove wrinkles in thicker, heavier and less delicate fabrics. Use the soleplate on an ironing board or a similar surface. when in use. Avoid prolonged contact. Keep steam head moving while steaming your garment. CAUTION: Soleplate will be hot TO STEAM DRAPES Wash and dry drapes as directed, according to fabric type. Rehang drapes and steam when they are in place. Always steam with hose in upright position, so any condensation is free to flow back into the steamer reservoir on the base. If you steam in a low position, condensation will collect inside the hose. To avoid this, lift the steam handle upward until the hose is extended to its full height. Do not directly touch velvet, silk or other delicate fabrics with the steam head. Use extra caution when steaming delicate fabrics. TROUBLESHOOTING THE STEAMER • PROBLEM – Steamer fails to heat CAUSE – Steamer not plugged in SOLUTION – Plug into electrical outlet • PROBLEM – No steam CAUSE – Water level is low (beep will sound) SOLUTION – Turn ON/OFF switch off and refill water tank • PROBLEM – Water drips from nozzle CAUSE – Condensation in hose SOLUTION – Hold the hose vertically and allow water to drain back into unit • PROBLEM – Poor steam performance CAUSE – Sediment in tank SOLUTION – Decalcify reservoir and water tank. See decalcification instructions • PROBLEM – Dye on steam nozzle CAUSE – Fabric not colorfast / Touching steam nozzle to fabric SOLUTION – Move steam nozzle 1/2 inch away from fabric during use. Clean steam nozzle with household cleaner and rinse with water • PROBLEM – Discoloring of fabric CAUSE – Dye on surface of fabric needs special treatment and cleaning / Fabric not suitable for steaming SOLUTION – Some custom specialty fabrics have dyes that are NOT COLORFAST and are not suitable for steaming. Test fabric for colorfastness in an inconspicuous spot before steaming NOTE: Amounts of chemicals in water will vary in different areas. To ensure continued operation of the steamer, use only distilled water. Never store without cleaning and removing excess water from the reservoir and water tank. With each repeated cycle, use a fresh solution of vinegar and distilled water. Run one cycle of fresh, distilled water without vinegar through the unit at the completion of decalcification before using the unit again to steam garments. Las telas densas pueden necesitar más de una pasada. Repita cuantas veces sea necesario.
