Beim Kinderarzt
Autor: Annemarie Wolke
Illustration: Sandy Thißen
Spieldauer: ca. 10 Minuten
Spielmaterial:
4 Patiententafeln, 1 Spielfigur Kinderärztin, 1 Schachtelteil „Schrank“, 1 Schachtelteil
„Arztkoffer“, 6 Pappteile „medizinische Instrumente“, 2 Pflastersticker, 2 Cremesticker,
20 Bärchen-Chips, 1 Spielanleitung
Liebe Eltern,

Was könnte den Kindern fehlen oder was tut ihnen weh?
Wann hast du schon mal Medizin gebraucht? usw.

Spielidee:

stecken. Du kannst dabei Piep-Geräusche machen, wie
du es von deinem Thermometer kennst. Ist die Messung
abgeschlossen, kannst du das Thermometer umdrehen und
siehst die Körpertemperatur des Patienten.
Medizinfläschchen: Nimm dir dazu auch noch den
Löffel. Wenn du das Pappteil mit dem Fläschchen
umdrehst, ist der Deckel offen. Jetzt kannst du so tun,

Anschauen und Abtasten heraus, was ihren Patienten fehlt.
ab. Sie hört ihr Herz laut schlagen. BUMM-BUMM klopft es in Emmas
Brust.

denkt an seinen Hund Bello. Schon ist es vorbei. Das war gar nicht so
schlimm.

My Very First Games
At the Doctor‘s
An instructive matching game for between 1 and 4 diligent nurse assistants ages 2 and older.
Author: Annemarie Wolke
Illustrated by: Sandy Thißen
Playing time: approx. 10 minutes
Game contents
4 patient boards, 1 doctor figure, 1 medicine cabinet, 1 doctor’s case, 6 (cardboard)
medical instruments, 2 bandages, 2 drops of ointment, 20 gummy bear counters, 1 set
of instructions
Dear parents,
We are pleased that you have chosen this game from the My Very First Games series.
You have made a good choice and are opening up many possibilities that will enable
your child to develop via the medium of play.
This set of instructions will provide you with various ideas and suggestions on how
you and your child can familiarize yourselves with the game components and use
them to prepare for the next visit to the doctor's.
Playing together and talking about the situation takes away the fear of the unknown.
By helping the doctor to treat the little patients in the course of the game, your child
will be prepared step by step for what to expect when you next take him / her to the
doctor’s office. The visit will then be associated with positive experiences and, at
the same time, your child will get to understand this everyday situation through the
medium of play.
We hope you all have fun administering treatment, listening, playing and helping
patients to get well again.

Free play
In free play, your child can familiarize him or herself with the game materials. Study the
illustrations together and talk about what can be seen on the cardboard components and
patient boards. Show your child the patient boards (the front and back are different).
What might be the matter with the patient and what are his / her symptoms? Look at the
instruments together and discuss which of them your child already knows and how they are
used. Play at hiding the instruments in the cabinet and the doctor’s case.
Your child will have a lot of fun attaching and removing the bandages and the drops of
ointment. In this way, everyone familiarizes themselves with handling the game elements.
With older children who already know the game material
quite well, you can also ask questions about other details
or about their own experiences.
Examples are: Where can a cream or ointment help? Have
there been times when you needed medical treatment? etc.

Game concept:
Many young patients are sitting in the waiting room at the practice of Dr. Liebherz.
Linus needs a precautionary vaccine, and Emma has a cough. Anton has chickenpox and is
itching all over, while Greta has fallen off her scooter. What is the doctor going to do to help
these children? Which instruments will she use? And is the treatment going to hurt? It’s good
that mom and dad are there and that the doctor is so nice. Together with the little patients,
the children will learn what happens during a visit to the doctors. The game allows them to
help the doctor administer the treatment.
The child who remembers where the medical supplies are kept, will earn the most gummy
bears. And win the game.
Before you get started
Place the 4 patient boards in a pile, with the waiting room side up.
They can be in any order.
Distribute the instruments between the doctor’s case and the
cabinet, 2 items under the box representing a doctor’s case
(e.g. tube of cream, box of bandages) and 3 under the box
representing a cabinet (e.g. thermometer, syringe, medicine
bottle). The children are allowed to watch and commit to memory
remember where each item has been placed.
The bandages and drops of ointment, the spoon (with the empty
side up) and the doctor figure are placed next to the cabinet and
the doctor’s case.
Put the gummy bear counters off to one side or in the lid of the
box the game came in.
14 My Very First Games
ENGLISH
Now let’s get started
Take the top board from the waiting room pile and place it with the patient side up in the
center of the table. Discuss the picture with your child. What might be wrong with this
patient? How might the patient be feeling?
The child whose turn it is can practice on the figure
shown, listening with the stethoscope and discussing the
patient with the doctor.
What is the appropriate treatment for the patient and what does the doctor need to
administer it?
The topmost image on the clipboard indicates this.
Ask the player: What do we need now? Is it in the case or the cabinet?
Help the player with naming the item if he or she has difficulty doing so. The player picks up
either the case or the cabinet depending on which of the two he or she thinks the item is
hidden underneath.
Medicine bottle
15My Very First Games
ENGLISH
See if the child has picked up the right box.
Yes, it’s the item that was being looked for.
Tell the player:
Well done! Take the instrument and treat the patient.
The doctor helps you and says what action has to be performed with which instrument
(see the next page).
Afterwards, put the instrument back in the case or the cabinet. You can decide where it
goes. (i.e. the instruments can swap locations).
The brave patient and the child who administered
the treatment each receive one gummy bear counter:
Take any gummy bear counter from the supply
and put it on the matching symbol on the patient
clipboard (on the instrument that has just been used)
and take any gummy bear counter as a reward for
yourself.
Now it is the turn of the next player to find the next
instrument depicted on the patient clipboard.
No, the player has not found the item that was being looked for.
Tell the player:
Ah, what a shame. Unfortunately, you didn’t find the right instrument.
It is the next player’s turn turn of the next player to search for the same instrument again.
If a patient has been fully treated, i.e. a gummy bear
counter has been placed on all instrument symbols,
this patient may be put to one side.
It’s now time to say: Next patient!
Fetch the next patient out of the waiting room by
taking another board from the pile. The next player
begins his / her turn by treating this patient and looking
for the instrument shown at the top of the clipboard.
End of the game
The game ends when all patients have been treated, i.e. all instruments on all clipboards are
covered with gummy bear counters. The player with the most gummy bear counters wins. If
two or more players have an equal number of counters, the game is tied.
16 My Very First Games
ENGLISH
The individual instruments explained:
The doctor explains here how to use the instruments correctly.
Clinical thermometer: Pretend to put the
thermometer into the patient’s ear. You can
make beeping sounds as you may have heard them
from your own thermometer. After a short wait for the
measurement to be taken, you can turn the thermometer
over and read off the body temperature of the patient.
Medicine bottle: Pick up the spoon as well. When
you turn the cardboard image of the bottle over, you
see that the cap is now off. You can pretend to put
medicine on the spoon. Turn the spoon over and you
will see that the medicine is now in the spoon. Next,
put the medicine with the spoon to the mouth of the
patient. Turn the spoon over and you will see that it is
empty again. Close the medicine bottle by turning it
over.
Ointment: Open the tube by turning it over.
Now you can apply the drop to the patient’s
skin. Then close the tube again by turning it
over.
Syringe: The nurse is pointing to where the syringe
must go. Take the syringe with the needle and place it
on this spot and press from above. The syringe is now empty. You
can turn it over again.
Bandages: Take a bandage from the supply and treat
the injured area of the patient's skin by sticking the
bandage on the wound.
Note:
The bandages and drops
of ointment adhere to smooth
surfaces and can be removed
without leaving any residue.
If they do not stick so well,
they can be moistend under
cold water.

ENGLISH
The story behind the game
Use the game material to enact a day at the doctor’s practice, providing an accompanying
narrative. Tell your child / children the following story.
At the highlighted points, ask your child to help the pediatrician by searching for the
instruments mentioned. The child may either follow the rules of the game as described
above or use the instruments to treat the patients in free play. Help your child to follow the
instructions, and allow enough time between each. The illustrations next to the text also
indicate which situation is being described. Lay out the patient boards in the following order:
Emma (cough), Linus (vaccination), Greta (accident), Anton (chickenpox).
Several young patients have arrived with their parents at
Dr. Liebherz’s office today. After signing in at reception,
they have to wait until their name is called. But that’s
OK, because there are some games for them to play
with in the waiting room, so it’s not going to be boring.
The doctor knows everything about the bodies of children, whether they are
healthy or sick. During the treatment, she finds out what’s wrong with her
patients by asking, listening, and looking. For a detailed examination, she uses
various instruments to help her see and hear better. With the stethoscope,
she can hear if the lungs are congested and if the heart is beating normally.
The first patient called into the treatment room is Emma. Her mom tells
the doctor that Emma has been coughing for a few days, so Dr. Liebherz
listens to her chest with the stethoscope. She can hear Emma’s heart
beating loudly. There is a BOOM BOOM sound coming from Emma’s chest.
Emma’s forehead is very hot and she says that she feels a bit tired, too.
Maybe she has a fever? That would also explain the tiredness. To find out,
the pediatrician now needs the clinical thermometer.
Oh yes, Emma’s body temperature is really quite high. Emma is now given
an injection with the syringe, after which her temperature drops and she
quickly feels better.
For the cough, the pediatrician Emma gives some cough syrup. It’s a special one just for
children.
Hmm, it doesn’t taste at all bad. A bit like orange or strawberry.
The cough will
now almost certainly disappear. Get well soon, Emma!
18 My Very First Games
ENGLISH
Next, it’s Linus’s turn, and he goes to the treatment room accompanied
by his dad. Actually, he doesn’t look ill. And to keep it that way, he is
being vaccinated today. A vaccine is a medicine to protect against diseases.
The doctor first listens to Linus’s chest with the stethoscope to make sure
he is in good enough health to be vaccinated today. That’s because if you
are ill on the day, the vaccination has to be postponed. The doctor now
prepares the syringe with the vaccine. No need to worry – you’ll just feel
a little poke.
Linus closes his eyes and thinks of his dog Bello. Phew, it’s already over.
That was not so bad. Almost like a mosquito bite. Linus was very brave!
To finish off, Linus gets bandage on his upper arm.
Where is the box with the bandages?
Job is done, and he can now go home.
Greta has come to the practice as an emergency patient after falling off
her scooter. Her arm hurts and her knee is bleeding. She has been crying a
bit, so the doctor looks for some liquid pain reliever.
Where can it be?
Greta grimaces because it doesn’t taste at all nice. But because it is making
her feel better, she swallows it bravely.
After that, Greta needs ointment to treat the bruise on her arm.
Where
can you find the
tube with the ointment?
After the ointment has been applied to Greta’s arm, the doctor cleans up
the wound on Greta’s knee and sticks a large bandage on it.
Will you
help her?
The doctor has finished now, so Greta can go home with her mom and rest. She should
certainly feel some improvement soon and be well enough to ride her scooter again.
The last patient for today is Anton. His whole body is covered with spots
which are itching very badly. The doctor takes a close look at them. Then
she checks to see if Anton also has a fever. For this, she uses the clinical
thermometer.
Anton’s temperature is indeed quite high – a sure sign that he has chicken-
pox! To alleviate the itching, Anton is given some ointment. The doctor
takes a big drop from the tube and smears Anton’s back with it. Ooh, that
feels better!
Anton takes the ointment home with him, so that mom and dad can apply it
again in the evening. Hopefully, the chickenpox will then gradually clear up.
This was a busy day at Dr. Liebherz’s office. She rewards herself with a
gummy bear
from the supply which she keeps for her young patients
after they have been treated.

Chers parents,

Dommage !
carte-patient face patient visible. L'enfant suivant

Comment utiliser chaque instrument ?

l'ordre suivant: Emma (toux), Léo (vaccination), Manon (accident), Antonin (varicelle).

Auteur: Annemarie Wolke
Illustraties: Sandy Thißen
Speelduur: ca. 10 minuten
Spelinhoud
4 patiëntenplaatjes, 1 speelfiguur ‘kinderarts’, 1 doosdeel ‘kast’, 1 doosdeel ‘dokterstas’,
6 kartonnen afbeeldingen ‘medische instrumenten’, 2 pleistersstickers, 2 zalfjesstickers,
20 beertjesfiches, 1 spelhandleiding
Lieve ouders
ervaringen.
Bijvoorbeeld: Waarbij kan een crème/zalf helpen? Wanneer

onthouden waar welke afbeelding ligt.

thermometer kent. Wanneer de meting voltooid is, kun

Teun (waterpokken).
Dat noemt men beluisteren.
Als eerste wordt Emma afgeroepen. Zij mag nu naar de behandelkamer
gaan.
Inderdaad, Emma’s lichaamstemperatuur is echt hoog!
mag krijgen.
Liam was erg dapper!
Help jij even?
ermee in.

Queridos padres y queridas madres
Han to-

A Antonio

paciente.
No, no ha encontrado el objeto buscado.
Entonces díganle al niño / a:
Lástima. No has encontrado el instrumento correcto.

Luego puedes volver a cerrar

temperatura y pueda volver a sentirse bien rápidamente.
Mmm, no sabe nada mal.

Buon divertimento, mentre ascoltate, giocate, curate e guarite!

Importante:

dottore e scoprono tante cose dello studio medico. Inoltre possono aiutare la pediatra a
curare i malati.
I bambini devono
46 I miei primi giochi

Puoi decidere tu dove
sistemarlo.
orsetto in premio.

Spiegazioni sui singoli strumenti
(basta girarlo).
Nota:
gli sticker cerotto
e crema aderiscono alle
superfici lisce e possono essere
rimossi senza lasciare residui.

(tosse), Linus (vaccinazione), Greta (incidente), Anton (varicella).
A Emma ora
Buona guarigione, Emma!
50 I miei primi giochi
ITALIANO
