Resetting the unit
Before operating the unit for the first
time, after replacing the car battery, or
after connecting an optional unit, you
must reset the unit.
Press the reset button with a pointed
object, such as a ballpoint pen.
Main unit
Notes
•Pressing the reset button will erase the clock
data and some memorised functions.
•When you connect the power supply cord to
the unit or reset the unit, wait for about 10
seconds before you insert a disc.

Thank you for purchasing this Sony
Compact Disc Player. This unit lets you
enjoy a variety of features using either a
rotary remote or a wireless remote.
In addition to the CD playback and
radio operations, you can expand your
system by connecting an optional CD/
MD unit*.
If you operate this unit or connect an
optional CD unit with the CD TEXT
function, the CD TEXT information will
appear in the display when you play
back a CD TEXT disc.
* You can connect to a CD changer and an
MD changer.
About this manual
Conventions
•Instructions in this manual describe the
controls on the rotary remote, the
wireless remote, and the front panel,
depending on the function. If the
controls on these devices have the
same or similar names, the operation
described can be performed on either
device.

Note
You can specify the
ACC position settings
only in the initial
setting procedure. To
change these settings
afterwards, press the
reset button and repeat
the procedure.
1 Press the reset button behind the front panel
(see page 2).
The Contrast indication appears.
Press ? or / to adjust the contrast. The contrast is
adjustable to 15 levels.
2 Press ENTER.
The ACC Position indication appears.
Press ? or / to select “yes” or “no.” Select “yes” if
your car’s ignition switch has an ACC position; select
“no” if your car’s ignition switch has no ACC position.
3 Press ENTER.
The Digital out indication appears.
Press ? or / to select “on” or “off” depending on
your car audio system. Select “on” when an optional
equipments with digital input (XDP-210EQ, XDP-
U50D) is connected to the unit.

You can reset all of
these initial settings

Initial settings
Do the following initial settings before you
operate the unit for the first time, after replacing
the car battery, or after resetting the unit.
Be sure to make these settings, otherwise the front
panel is disabled and you will be unable to insert
a CD.

4 Press ENTER.
The Initial setting menu appears.
To change any of the initial settings at this time, press
the cursor buttons to select the item you want to
change and press ENTER.
5 To complete the initial settings, press MENU.
The unit turns off momentarily. Two seconds after
completing the initial settings, the unit turns on again,
the title display appears, and the unit becomes
operative.

The Time Set indication appears.
1 Press > or . to set the hour.
2 Press / to move to minutes and press > or . to
set the minutes.
Pressing . lowers the number and > raises the
number.
Setting the clock
Set the clock with the wireless remote.
Turn the unit on before setting the clock.
The clock uses a 24-hour digital indication.

The current time can be set to appear in the upper-left
corner of the display (except when a menu is displayed).

When CD or MD is selected, press to
display the disc name list. While the
list appears in the display, press again
to display the track name list of the
current disc (see page 29).
When FM, MW, or LW is selected,
press to display the preset station list
(see page 42).
To change the current selection, use the
cursor buttons to select another disc,
track, or station, then press ENTER.
6 DSPL/PTY (display mode change/
Programme type selection) button
When playing a CD or MD, press to
display the disc name or track name.
When the current disc or track has no
name, “NO Disc Name (NO Track
Name)” appears in the display.
When FM or DAB is selected, press to
activate the PTY search function (see
page 47).
Press and hold for two seconds to
switch to the function menu which
appears, depending on the current
source or setting mode (see
“9 Function buttons”).
To return to the previous function
menu, press and hold the button again.
7 SEEK/AMS (seek/Automatic Music
Sensor/manual search) control
Push the control up or down to locate a
track or receive a station.
Push the control up or down and hold
until the desired station or track is
located.
Push the control up or down to tune in
a service when DAB is selected.
8 Number buttons
Press to search for the preset stations,
or to switch to the desired disc in the
CD/MD unit which corresponds to the
number button.
9 Function buttons
Press to switch the mode setting
manually. The function menu which
appears depends on the selected
source.

Note
To play back an 8 cm CD, use the optional
Sony compact disc single adapter (CSA-8).
* Do not put any foreign objects between
the front panel and the unit. The front
panel cannot close and possible damage
may occur to the unit.

Using the rotary remote
You can use the rotary remote for all operations
except menu operations.
Basic operations
By pressing buttons
Each time you press SOURCE, the source changes as
follows:
Tuner n CD n MD*
* When an MD unit is connected.
Pressing MODE changes the operation as follows:
• Tuner: FM n MW n LW n DAB*
• CD unit: CD1 n CD2 n …
• MD unit: MD1 n MD2 n …
* When an optional DAB tuner unit is connected.
By rotating the control
Rotate the control momentarily and release it to:
•Locate the beginning of tracks when CD or MD is
selected.
•Automatically tune in a station when FM, MW, or LW is
selected. When a station is detected, the unit stops
searching.
•Automatically tune in a service when DAB is selected.
When a service is detected, the unit stops searching.
Keep the control rotated to:
•Locate a specific point on a track when CD or MD is
selected. Playback at normal speed resumes when you
release the control.
•Manually tune in a station when FM, MW, or LW is
selected. Release the control when the desired station is
located.

If the SEEK/AMS mode is set to “Item sel,” you can select the desired station or disc
with SEEK/AMS when the list appears in the display (see page 63).

By pushing in and rotating the control
Push in and rotate the control to:
•Receive the stations memorized on the number buttons
when FM, MW, or LW is selected.
•Change the disc when CD or MD is selected.
Push in and release the control to:
Display the list of discs (when CD or MD is selected) or
preset stations (when FM, MW, or LW is selected).
The previous display will reappear after a moment.
Other operations
OFF button Press this button to turn off the unit.
To turn on the unit again, press SOURCE.
ATT button Press this button to attenuate the sound.
To cancel the attenuation (ATT), press the button again.
Changing the operative direction
If you need to mount the rotary remote on the left side of the steering column, you
can reverse the operative direction. See “Setting the set up menu” on page 62.

Using the wireless remote
Use the wireless remote to make the various menu settings. For your safety, unit
operations with the wireless remote should be done by a passenger. If you (the
driver) want to use the wireless remote, park your car in a safe location first before
performing any operations.
When the ACC position is set to “no,” the unit cannot be operated with the
wireless remote unless SOURCE on the rotary remote or front panel is pressed, or a
CD is inserted to activate the unit first.

Menu display/Lists
The following menu and lists appear in the display
when you press MENU or LIST.
Menu display (appears when you press MENU )
1 Press MENU to make various settings and adjustments.
2 Press the cursor buttons to select the item and its
setting, then press ENTER.
3 Press MENU to cancel the menu mode and return to
normal display.
Lists (appears when you press LIST)
Press LIST to display the disc name list or track name list
when CD or MD is selected.
The preset station list will appear when FM, MW, LW, or
DAB is selected.
To select the disc or station on the list
When the disc name list or preset station list appears in the
display, press the cursor buttons to select the disc or radio
station you want to listen to, then press ENTER.
To return to the previous display without changing the
setting, press LIST again.
Tip
If the SEEK/AMS mode is set to “Item sel,” you can select the
desired station or disc with SEEK/AMS when the list appears in
the display (see page 63).

Listening to a CD/MD
If an optional CD or MD unit is connected to this unit, you can locate and listen to
discs in the optional CD or MD unit in the same way as you can with those in this
unit.

To select the disc to be played
Push in and rotate DISC/PRESET.
The unit changes to the next or previous disc. If you
keep the control rotated, the discs will continue to
change.
Push in and release the control to display the disc
name list.
For details on naming a disc, see “Labelling a CD” on
page 25.
Tips
•You can also use the number buttons on the front panel that
correspond to the desired disc number.
•If the SEEK/AMS mode is set to “Item sel,” you can select
the desired disc with SEEK/AMS when the list appears in
the display (see page 63).
To locate a track
Rotate, then release SEEK/AMS.
The unit locates the beginning of the current track or
the next or previous track.
To locate a specific point on a track
Rotate and hold SEEK/AMS.
The unit plays the track at high speed. When you
reach the point you want, release the control.

The repeat play function allows you to play back a
track, a disc, or all the discs in this unit or any
connected CD/MD unit repeatedly.

Creating a programme
(CD/MD programme memory)
You can play tracks from this unit or any
optional CD/MD unit in any order you
want by creating and storing programmes
in the unit’s memory. Two programmes
with up to 12 tracks each can be stored.

You can view text information contained on a
CD TEXT disc during playback.
Selecting the disc name display
When playing CD TEXT discs that have been labelled
using the Disc Memo function (see page 25), you can
specify that disc names be displayed whenever you press
DSPL/PTY or LIST.

Scrolling names automatically

What is a variable coefficient (VC) digital filter?
CD players use digital filters to eliminate the noise
generated during sampling. You can change the tone of
your music by changing the cutoff characteristics of the
digital filter. This unit has four types of filters with
different coefficient characteristics: “Plain,” “Analog A,”
“Analog B,” and “Standard.”
Customizing the CD sound
(Digital filter function)
This unit has a variable coefficient (VC) digital
filter. By selecting the type of filter you want, you
can adjust the sound characteristics which best
compliment your speaker, source, unit, etc.

Overview of the RDS function
The radio data system (RDS) is a broadcasting service that allows FM stations to send
additional digital information along with the regular radio programme signal.
This unit offers you the following convenient RDS features:
• Displaying the station name
• Re-tuning the same programme automatically
(Alternative Frequencies (AF))
• Listening to traffic, news, or information programmes
• Recording traffic announcements (Traffic Information Replay (TIR))
• Locating an RDS station by programme type
(Programme Type selection (PTY) function)

• Depending on the country or region, not all of the RDS functions are available.
• RDS may not work properly if the signal strength is weak or if the station you are tuned to is

The Alternative Frequencies (AF) function
automatically selects and re-tunes the station with
the strongest signal in a network. By using the
function, you can listen to the same programme
continuously during a long-distance drive without
having to re-tune the station manually.
While listening to an FM broadcast, press AF to
select “on.”
Tip
If the Select mode in the Func. menu is set to “Source,” the
function menu automatically appears on the right side of the
display, depending on the source you select. (see page 66)
To cancel the AF function
Select “off” above.
Notes
• When there is no alternative station in the area and you do not
need to search for an alternative station, turn the AF function
off.
• “NO AF” appears when the unit cannot find an alternative
station in the network.
• If the station name is reversed, after tuning to a station with the
AF function on, this means that no alternative station is
available. If this happens, push SEEK/AMS up or down while
the station name is reversed. The unit starts searching for
another frequency with the same PI (Programme Identification)
data. “PI seek” appears in the display and no sound is heard at
this time. If the unit cannot find another frequency, “NO PI”
appears and the unit returns to the originally selected
frequency.

Selecting stations with the strongest
signals (BTM)
BTM (Best Tuning Memory) is a function that selects the
radio stations with the strongest signals and automatically
sets them to preset station numbers.
If you activate the BTM function while listening to an FM
broadcast with the AF function turned on (see page 35)
and the TA function turned off (see page 43), the unit
presets only the FM RDS stations.
If the TA function is on, the stations that broadcast traffic
announcements only are preset.
When both the AF and TA functions are set to off, or while
you’re listening to the MW or LW broadcast, the unit
presets the stations with the strongest signals in your area.
If you activate the BTM function while listening to a preset
station, the unit replaces only those stations on preset
numbers higher than the current one.
If you activate the function while listening to a station
which is not preset, all the contents of the preset stations
will be replaced.

Presetting the RDS stations with AF and
TA data
When you preset RDS stations, the unit stores each
station’s data as well as its frequency, so you don’t have to
turn on the AF or TA function every time you tune in these
preset stations. You can select a different setting (AF, TA,
or both) for each preset station, or the same setting for all
preset stations.
Making the same setting for all preset stations
1 While listening to an FM broadcast, press
MENU.
2 Select “R.Mode” and press / to move to the
sub menu, then select “Preset” by pressing >

Listening to traffic announcements
Traffic Announcement (TA) and Traffic Programme (TP)
are broadcast data that allow you to automatically tune
in an FM station that is broadcasting traffic
announcements even though you are listening to other
programme sources.
If the traffic announcement starts while you are listening
to another programme source, the unit automatically
switches to the announcement; it then goes back to the
original source when the announcement is over.
While listening to an FM broadcast, press TA to
select “on.”
The unit starts searching for traffic information stations.
“TP” appears in the display when the unit finds a station
broadcasting traffic announcements. When the traffic
announcement starts, “TA” appears in reverse contrast.
The reverse contrast is cancelled when the traffic
announcement is over.
To cancel the current traffic announcement
Select “off” above.

While listening to FM, press MENU and set the TA mode
in the RDS menu to “on” or “off.”

Receiving emergency announcements
If an emergency announcement is broadcast while you are
listening to the radio, the unit will automatically switch to
the announcement. If you are listening to a source other
than the radio, the unit will play the emergency
announcements if you have set AF or TA to on. With this
setting, the unit will automatically switch to these
announcements no matter what you are listening to at the
time.

Recording traffic announcements
(Traffic information replay (TIR))
You can listen to the latest traffic announcements
by recording them. The unit automatically records
and stores up to eight traffic announcements. The
TIR function turns the unit on automatically and
records traffic announcements for up to one hour
before and after a preset time.
To set the TIR preset time

Using the digital audio
broadcasting system (DAB)
Overview of DAB
DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is a new multimedia broadcasting system that
transmits audio programmes with a quality comparable to that of CDs. This is made
possible by the use of a microcomputer in the DAB tuner which uses the radio signals
sent from multiple aerials and multi-path signals (reflected radio waves) to boost the
strength of the main signal. This makes DAB almost immune to radio interference
even in a moving object such as a car.
Each DAB station bundles radio programmes (services) into an ensemble which it
then broadcasts. Each service contains one or more components. All ensembles,
services, and components are identified by name, so you can access any of them
without having to know their frequencies.
Furthermore, additional information (called programme associated data) can be
broadcast along with the services in the form of texts.
Notes
• The DAB system is actually in a testing phase. This means some services have not been
sufficiently defined or are presently being tested. At present, such services are not supported
by the optional DAB tuner unit XT-100DAB.
• DAB programmes are broadcast in Band-III (174 to 240 MHz) and L-Band (1,452 to 1,492 MHz),
with each band divided into channels (41 in Band-III and 23 in L-Band). One ensemble is
broadcast per channel by each DAB station.

Presetting DAB services
automatically
(BTM)
The BTM (Best Tuning Memory) function picks out DAB ensembles and
automatically assigns the services within the ensembles to preset service numbers.
The unit can preset up to 40 services.
If services have been previously set, the BTM function operates under the following
conditions:
• If you activate the BTM function while listening to a
preset service, the unit will store detected services
(by overwriting) only to preset numbers higher
than that of the current present service.
• If you activate the function while listening to a
service that is not preset, the unit will replace the
contents of all preset numbers.
• In both cases above, if the unit detects a service that
is identical to one already preset, the previously
stored service remains unchanged and the newly
detected service is not preset.

TIR indicator
The unit can automatically record traffic
announcements even while the front
panel has been removed. The TIR
indicator on the front of the unit flashes
for about ten seconds when you remove
the front panel while the TIR function is
turned on. The TIR indicator also
flashes when you turn the ignition
switch to OFF while the ACC Position is
set to “yes,” the TIR function is on, and
the front panel has been removed.
Detaching the front panel
You can detach the front panel of this
unit to protect the unit from being
stolen.

2 Press RELEASE to open the front panel,
then slide the front panel to the left
side, and pull out from the right side of
the front panel.

•Do not put anything on the inner surface of

•Be sure not to drop the panel when

About the LCD display on the
display section
When the temperature is extremely high
or low, the display may become dim and
hard to see. This is due to the
characteristics of the LCD and is not a
malfunction. The display will return to
normal when the temperature becomes
normal.
Wireless remote
Installing batteries in the wireless
remote
Insert two size-AA (R6) batteries with
the correct polarity.
Battery life
When the batteries become weak, you
will not be able to operate the unit with
the wireless remote. Battery life is about
six months (or shorter, depending on the
way the remote is used). If the remote
becomes inoperative, replace the
batteries, then verify that it can operate
the system.

Do not expose the discs to direct
sunlight or heat sources such as hot air-
ducts, or leave them in a car parked in
direct sunlight where there can be a
considerable rise in the temperature
inside the car.
Before playing, clean the discs with an
optional cleaning cloth. Wipe each disc

Do not use solvents such as benzine,
thinner, commercially available cleaners
or antistatic spray intended for analog
discs.
Note on moisture condensation
On a rainy day or in a very damp area,
moisture may condense on the lenses
inside the CD player. Should this occur,
the unit will not operate properly. In this
case, remove the disc and wait for about
an hour until the moisture evaporates.
When you play 8 cm CDs
Use the optional Sony compact disc
single adapter (CSA-8) to protect the CD
player from being damaged.

Fuse replacement
When replacing the fuse, be sure to use
one that matches the amperage
described on the fuse. If the fuse blows,
check the power connection and replace
the fuse. If the fuse blows again after
replacement, there may be an internal
malfunction. In such a case, consult your
nearest Sony dealer.

Never use a fuse with an amperage
rating exceeding the one supplied with
the unit as this could damage the unit.
Cleaning the connectors
The unit may not function properly if
the connectors between the unit and the
front panel are not clean. To prevent
this, open the front panel by pressing
RELEASE, then detach it and clean the
connectors with a cotton swab dipped in
alcohol. Do not apply too much force.

Pulse ? o / para ajustar el contraste. Existen 15
niveles de ajuste.

Pulse ? o / para seleccionar “yes” o “no”.
Seleccione “yes” si el interruptor de encendido del
vehículo dispone de posición ACC, y “no” en caso
contrario.
3 Pulse ENTER.
Aparece la indicación Digital out.
Pulse ? o / para seleccionar “on” u “off”, según el
sistema de audio del automóvil. Seleccione “on” si hay
un equipo opcional con entrada digital (XDP-210EQ,
XDP-U50D) conectado a la unidad.

Realice los siguientes ajustes iniciales antes de
utilizar la unidad por primera vez, después de
sustituir la batería del automóvil o después de
restaurar la unidad.
Asegúrese de realizar estos ajustes, ya que en caso
contrario el panel frontal no se activará y no podrá
insertar discos compactos.

La alimentación de esta unidad se desconectará
momentáneamente. Dos segundos después de haber
finalizado los ajustes iniciales, la alimentación volverá
a conectarse, aparecerá la visualización del título, y la
unidad podrá utilizarse.

6 Botón DSPL/PTY (cambio de modo

Al reproducir un CD o MD, púlselo para
ver el título del disco o tema.
Si el disco o tema actual no tiene título,
aparece en el visor la indicación “NO
Disc Name (NO Track Name)”.
Con FM o DAB seleccionado, púlselo
para activar la función de búsqueda PTY
(consulte la página 47).
Púlselo y manténgalo pulsado durante
dos segundos para cambiar al menú de
función que aparece, en función de la
fuente o modo de ajuste actual (consulte
“9 Botones de función”).
Para volver al menú de función anterior,

Cada vez que pulse SOURCE, la fuente cambia de la

Al pulsar MODE, el funcionamiento cambia de la
siguiente forma:

Mediante el giro del control
Si el modo SEEK/AMS está ajustado en “Item sel”, es posible seleccionar la emisora o
disco seleccionado con SEEK/AMS cuando la lista aparece en el visor (consulte la
página 63).
Gire el control momentáneamente y suéltelo para:
•Localizar el principio de los temas estando seleccionado
CD o MD.
•Sintonizar una emisora automáticamente estando
seleccionado FM, MW o LW. Al detectar una emisora, la
unidad deja de buscar.
•Sintonizar un servicio automáticamente con DAB
seleccionado. Cuando se detecta un servicio, la unidad
deja de buscar.
Mantenga girado el control para:
•Localizar un punto específico de un tema estando
seleccionado CD o MD. Se reanuda la reproducción a la
velocidad normal al soltar el control.
•Sintonizar una emisora de forma manual estando
seleccionado FM, MW o LW. Suelte el control al localizar
la emisora apropiada.

Mediante la presión y giro del control
Presione y gire el control para:
• Recibir las emisoras memorizadas en los botones
numéricos estando seleccionado FM, MW o LW.
• Cambiar el disco estando seleccionado CD o MD.
Presione y suelte el control para:
Mostrar la lista de discos (con CD o MD seleccionado) o
emisoras memorizadas (si está seleccionado FM, MW o
LW). Pasado un momento, el visor recuperará su estado
anterior.
Otras operaciones
Pulse este botón para apagar la unidad.
Para volver a encender la unidad, pulse SOURCE.
Pulse este botón para atenuar el sonido.
Para cancelar la atenuación (ATT), vuelva a pulsar el
botón.
Cambio de la dirección de funcionamiento
Si necesita montar el mando a distancia giratorio en el lado izquierdo de la columna
de dirección, puede invertir la dirección de funcionamiento. Consulte “Ajuste del

Uso del mando a distancia
inalámbrico
Utilice este mando para realizar los distintos ajustes de menú. Para su seguridad, un
pasajero debe realizar las operaciones con el mando a distancia inalámbrico. Si usted
(el conductor) desea utilizar este mando, estacione el vehículo en un lugar seguro
antes de efectuar alguna operación.
Si la posición ACC está ajustada en “no”, no será posible emplear la unidad con el
mando a distancia inalámbrico, a menos que pulse SOURCE en el mando giratorio
o en el panel frontal, o que inserte un CD para activar la unidad primero.

Para volver a la indicación anterior sin cambiar el ajuste,

Un disco CD TEXT es un CD de música que también

Descripción general de la función RDS
El sistema de datos de radio (RDS) es un servicio que permite a las emisoras de FM
enviar información digital adicional junto con la señal de programa normal.
Esta unidad le ofrece las siguientes funciones de RDS:
• Visualización del nombre de la emisora
• Resintonización automática del mismo programa (frecuencias alternativas (AF))
• Recepción de programas de tráfico, noticias o informativos
• Grabación de anuncios de tráfico (reproducción de información de tráfico (TIR))
• Localización de emisoras RDS por tipo de programa (función de selección de tipo
de programa (PTY))
Notas
• Según el país o región, es posible que no todas las funciones RDS estén disponibles.
• Es posible que RDS no funcione correctamente si la señal es débil o si la emisora sintonizada

emisora de señal más intensa dentro de una red.
Con esta función, puede escuchar el mismo
programa continuamente durante un viaje largo
sin necesidad de volver a sintonizar la emisora de
forma manual.
Mientras escucha una emisora de FM, pulse AF
para seleccionar “on”.
Consejo
Si el modo Select en el menú Func. está ajustado en “Source”, el
menú de función aparece automáticamente en la parte derecha del
visor, según la fuente que seleccione (consulte la página 66).
Para cancelar la función AF
Seleccione “off” en el paso anterior.
Notas
• Si no existe ninguna emisora alternativa en la zona y no tiene
necesidad de buscar una emisora alternativa, desactive la
función AF.
• “NO AF” aparece si la unidad no encuentra ninguna emisora
alternativa en la red.
• Si el nombre de emisora aparece con contraste inverso después
de sintonizar una emisora con la función AF activada, ello
indica que no hay ninguna emisora alternativa disponible. En

intensa (BTM)
BTM (memorización de la mejor sintonía) es una función
que selecciona las emisoras de radio de señal más intensa y
las ajusta en los números de memorización de emisora.
Si activa la función BTM mientras escucha una emisora de
FM con la función AF activada (consulte la página 35) y la
función TA desactivada (consulte la página 43), la unidad
sólo memoriza las emisoras RDS de FM.
Si la función TA se encuentra activada, sólo se memorizan
aquellas emisoras que emiten anuncios de tráfico.
Cuando las funciones AF y TA están desactivadas o
mientras escucha una emisión MW o LW, la unidad
memoriza las emisoras de señal más intensa de la zona.
Si activa la función BTM mientras escucha una emisora
memorizada, la unidad sólo sustituirá aquellas emisoras
con números memorizados superiores al actual.
Si activa dicha función mientras escucha una emisora no
memorizada, se sustituirá todo el contenido de las
emisoras memorizadas.

Recepción de anuncios de tráfico
Los anuncios de tráfico (TA) y programas de tráfico (TP)
son datos de emisión que permiten sintonizar
automáticamente una emisora de FM que emita anuncios
de tráfico, aunque esté escuchando otras fuentes de
programa.
Si el anuncio de tráfico comienza mientras está
escuchando otra fuente de programa, la unidad cambia
automáticamente al anuncio y vuelve a la fuente inicial
cuando el anuncio finaliza.
Mientras escucha una emisora de FM, pulse TA
para seleccionar “on”.
La unidad comienza a buscar emisoras de información de
tráfico. “TP” aparece en el visor cuando la unidad
encuentra una emisora que emite anuncios de tráfico.
Cuando empieza el anuncio, aparece “TA” con contraste
inverso. El contraste inverso se cancela cuando finaliza el
anuncio de tráfico.

o TA. Con este ajuste, la unidad cambiará a dichos

Grabación de anuncios de tráfico

Puede escuchar los anuncios de tráfico más recientes
grabándolos. La unidad graba y almacena
automáticamente hasta ocho anuncios de tráfico. La
función TIR enciende la unidad de forma automática
y graba los anuncios de tráfico durante un máximo de
una hora antes y después de la hora memorizada.

Uso del sistema digital de emisión
de audio (DAB)
Descripción general de la función DAB
DAB (emisión de audio digital) es un nuevo sistema de emisión multimedia que
transmite programas de audio con una calidad comparable a la de los CDs. Ello es
posible gracias al uso de un microordenador en el sintonizador DAB que utiliza las
señales de radio enviadas desde múltiples antenas y señales multiruta (ondas de
radio reflejadas) para amplificar la intensidad de la señal principal. Así, DAB
prácticamente no sufre los efectos de las interferencias de radio, incluso en un
automóvil en movimiento.
Cada emisora DAB junta los programas de radio (servicios) para formar un conjunto
que luego se emite. Cada servicio contiene uno o más componentes. Todos los
conjuntos, servicios y componentes se identifican con un nombre, de forma que es
posible acceder a cualquiera de ellos sin necesidad de conocer las frecuencias.
También puede emitirse información adicional con formato de texto (denominada
datos asociados de programa) junto con los servicios.

• El sistema DAB aún se encuentra en fase de pruebas, lo cual implica que algunos servicios no
se han definido lo suficiente o se están probando actualmente. En estos momentos, el
sintonizador XT-100DAB opcional no soporta estos servicios.
• Los programas DAB se emiten en la banda III (174 a 240 MHz) y en la banda L (1.452 a 1.492
MHz), con cada banda dividida en canales (41 en la banda III y 23 en banda L). Cada emisora
DAB emite un conjunto por canal.

Si los servicios se han memorizado anteriormente, la función BTM funciona bajo las
siguientes condiciones:
• Si activa la función BTM mientras escucha un
servicio memorizado, la unidad sólo almacenará los
servicios detectados (mediante la sobrescritura) a
los números de memorización superiores al
número del servicio actual.
• Si activa la función mientras escucha un servicio no
memorizado, la unidad sustituirá el contenido de
todos los números de memorización.
• En los dos casos anteriores, si la unidad detecta un
servicio idéntico a uno ya memorizado, el servicio
almacenado anteriormente no se modifica y el
recién detectado no se memoriza.

Actualización automática de las lista de conjuntos
Al utilizar la función BTM por primera vez, todos los

automática. Al volver a emplear dicha función, el
contenido de estas listas se actualiza de acuerdo con las
condiciones descritas en la página 50.
Un conjunto se añade a la lista correspondiente si se recibe
durante la sintonización automática o manual pero no está
incluido en la lista.
Un conjunto también se elimina de la lista correspondiente
cuando:

Es posible ajustar los graves, los agudos, el

digitales mediante DIGITAL OUT si se
conecta un equipo opcional con entrada
digital. Seleccione “off” para cancelar la
emisión de las señales digitales.
Seleccione uno de los cuatro tipos de filtro
para ajustar el sonido de forma que se
adapte a la imagen de sonido, fuente de
música, etc., que desee.
Seleccione “on” para enviar la señal sin
procesarla por el circuito de control de
tonos para obtener un sonido puro de alta
calidad. En este caso, el ajuste de graves y
agudos no se activa.
Seleccione “off” para emitir la señal
mediante el circuito de control de tono. Es
posible controlar los niveles de graves y
agudos, pero la pureza del sonido original
se degradará.

Extracción del panel

Es posible extraer el panel frontal de esta
unidad para evitar su robo.

Indicador TIR
La unidad puede grabar anuncios de
tráfico de forma automática incluso si se
ha extraído el panel frontal. El indicador
TIR de la parte frontal de la unidad
parpadea durante unos diez segundos al
retirar el panel frontal cuando la función
TIR se encuentra activada. El indicador
TIR también parpadea al girar el
interruptor de encendido hasta OFF
cuando la posición ACC está ajustada en
“yes”, la función TIR está activada y el
panel frontal se ha extraído.

•Si dispone de una antena motorizada, ésta
se extenderá de forma automática a la hora
programada.
•Si no utiliza el automóvil con frecuencia,
asegúrese de desactivar la función TIR para
evitar el desgaste de la batería.

Precauciones
•Si aparca el automóvil bajo la luz solar
directa y se produce un considerable
aumento de temperatura en el interior
del mismo, deje que se enfríe la unidad
antes de utilizarla.
•Si la unidad no recibe alimentación,
compruebe primero las conexiones. Si
todo está en orden, examine el fusible.
•Si los altavoces no emiten sonido con
un sistema de dos altavoces, ajuste el
control de equilibrio entre éstos en la
posición central.
•Si el vehículo dispone de una antena
motorizada, ésta se extenderá
automáticamente mientras la unidad se
encuentra en funcionamiento.

Notas sobre el manejo de discos
compactos
Los discos sucios o defectuosos pueden
producir pérdidas de sonido durante la
reproducción. Para obtener un sonido
óptimo, maneje los discos de la siguiente
forma.
Coja el disco por los bordes. Para
mantenerlo limpio, no toque su
superficie.
No pegue papel ni cinta adhesiva sobre
la superficie de la etiqueta.

Es posible extraer el mando giratorio
como medida de seguridad contra robo.
Gire el mando en el sentido de las agujas
del reloj mientras pulsa RELEASE.

cuatro enganches del soporte y deslice
dicho mando hasta que encaje en su

Acerca del visor LCD de la sección
de visualización
Si la temperatura es extremadamente
alta o baja, el visor puede atenuarse y
resultar difícil de ver. Esto se debe a las
características de la pantalla LCD y no es
ningún fallo de funcionamiento. El visor
volverá a su estado normal cuando la
temperatura sea normal.
Mando a distancia
inalámbrico
Instalación de las pilas en el
mando a distancia inalámbrico
Inserte dos pilas tamaño AA (R6) con la
polaridad correcta.
Duración de las pilas
Si las pilas disponen de poca energía, no
será posible emplear la unidad con el
mando a distancia inalámbrico. Las pilas
suelen durar unos seis meses (o menos,
en función de la forma de uso del
mando). Si dicho mando no funciona,
sustituya las pilas y compruebe que
puede controlar el sistema con él.
OPEN
No exponga los discos a la luz solar
directa ni a fuentes de calor, tales como
conductos de aire caliente, ni los deje en
un automóvil aparcado bajo la luz solar
directa donde pueda producirse un
considerable aumento de temperatura
en el interior del mismo.
Antes de la reproducción, limpie los
discos con un paño de limpieza opcional
desde el centro hacia los bordes.
No utilice disolventes como bencina,
diluyente, ni limpiadores disponibles en
el mercado o rociadores antiestáticos
destinados a discos analógicos.
Nota sobre la condensación de
humedad
En días lluviosos o en zonas muy
húmedas, puede condensarse humedad
en las lentes del interior del reproductor
de CD. Si esto ocurre, la unidad no
funcionará correctamente. En este caso,
extraiga el disco y espere durante una
hora aproximadamente hasta que la
humedad se evapore.
Si reproduce discos compactos de
8 cm
Utilice el adaptador opcional de Sony
para discos compactos “single” (CSA-8)
con el fin de evitar que el reproductor de
CD se dañe.

Notas sobre el uso de las pilas
Para evitar daños por fuga de pilas y
corrosión:
— Compruebe que la polaridad de las
pilas coincide con las marcas + y –
del compartimiento de las mismas.
— No utilice pilas usadas junto con
nuevas, ni de tipo diferente.
— Extraiga las pilas cuando no vaya a
utilizar el sistema durante mucho
tiempo.
— No cargue las pilas.
Si se produce fuga de las pilas, sustituya
las dos después de limpiar el
compartimiento de las mismas.
Notas sobre el mando a distancia
inalámbrico
•Para evitar deformaciones debido al
calor, no deje el mando en un lugar
expuesto a la luz solar directa.
•La luz solar directa puede afectar a la
capacidad del sistema para recibir
señales infrarrojas del mando. Si esto
ocurre, acerque dicho mando al sensor
de control remoto del sistema.
•Cuando aparque el automóvil, guarde
el mando en algún sitio, como en la
guantera, alejado de la luz solar directa
para evitar deformaciones debido al
calor.
Sustitución del fusible
Cuando sustituya el fusible, asegúrese
de utilizar uno cuyo amperaje coincida
con el indicado en el fusible. Si éste se
funde, compruebe la conexión de
alimentación y sustitúyalo. Si vuelve a
fundirse después de sustituirlo, es
posible que exista algún fallo de
funcionamiento interno. En tal caso,
póngase en contacto con el proveedor
Sony más próximo.
Aviso
No utilice nunca fusibles cuyo amperaje
nominal sea superior al del suministrado
con la unidad, ya que ésta podría
dañarse.
Limpieza de los conectores
La unidad puede no funcionar
correctamente si los conectores de la
misma y del panel frontal están sucios.
Para evitarlo, abra el panel frontal
pulsando RELEASE, extráigalo y limpie
los conectores con un bastoncillo de
algodón humedecido en alcohol. No
aplique demasiada fuerza. En caso
contrario, los conectores podrían
dañarse.
