Dear parents,
Thank you for purchasing the CYBEX Aton Q. We are proud
to bring this German engineered product to United States. We
hope the Aton Q will make your child’s travel both safer and more
pleasant, as well as make installation and use for you as simple as
possible. The award winning Aton Q brings two important safety
innovations to the infant car seat category.
Front Impact Protection
The adjustable Load Leg helps minimize crash forces on a baby in
a frontal crash. It allows the infant seat's safety systems to absorb
and transfer crash forces to the vehicle oor and prevent forward
rotation.
Telescoping Linear Side-Impact Protection™
A unique three stage protection system offers maximum protection
for your child.
1. A telescoping arm begins absorbing impact forces upon contact
and reduces the forces beign transferred to the seat.
2. The outer shell and EPS foam liner absorb any transferred
energy, further dissipating the crash forces.
3. Finally, the headrest protects the most important part of the
child’s body, the head, with an additional layer of energy absorbing
EPS foam.
Please read and follow these instructions carefully to install the
Aton Q correctly, even if the installation and use of this infant car
seat might seem simple and intuitive.
Statistics show that over 72% of car seats are being used
incorrectly!
Before the rst use of the Aton Q infant car seat, please make sure
you have followed all the steps in the Safety Checklist and CYBEX
Safe Practices found on page 46.
Following the American Academy of Pediatrics' recommendations
for safe transportation of infants, we recommend keeping your child
rear facing in a properly installed rear facing infant seat until they
are at least two (2) years of age or outgrow the maximum weight or
height for the seat. Visit www.aap.org for more information on the
Academy's recommendation.
No car seat can guarantee protection from injury in every situation,
but proper use helps reduce the risk of death or serious injury. If

• NEVER INSTALL or use this child
restraint until you have read and
understand the instructions in this
manual AND in your vehicle Owner’s
Manual
. If there is a conict between
the two, the vehicle Owner’s Manual
must be followed. FAILURE TO
FOLLOW these instructions can result
in DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY of your
child in a sharp turn, sudden stop, or
crash.
• DO NOT ALLOW others to install
or use this child restraint unless they
understand how to correctly install and
use it.
• ONLY PLACE this child restraint
REAR FACING in a vehicle seating
location allowed by the vehicle
manufacturer. Refer to your vehicle's
Owner’s Manual
for information
about vehicle seat belt systems, air
bags, and child restraint installations, to
determine allowable seating positions.
• Not every location within a vehicle
may be safe for the installation of this
child restraint. In fact, some vehicles
have no seating position that is safe for
the installation of an Infant Car Seat.
IMPROPER PLACEMENT of this child
restraint within a vehicle will increase
the risk of death or serious injury.
• Based on crash statistics, the National
Highway Trafc Safety Administration
(NHTSA) recommends that parents
select the REAR SEAT as the safest
location for a properly installed child
restraint.

• The primary protection for occupants
of a vehicle in a collision is the structure
of the vehicle itself; a child restraint will
not protect a child when the vehicle
is seriously impacted. CORRECTLY
USED, this child restraint will
substantially improve the chances for
survival in most crashes.
WHEN USED INSIDE A VEHICLE
• ONLY USE with children who weigh
between 4 and 35 lb (1,8 and 15,9 kg)
AND whose height is 30 inches (76 cm)
or less.
• DO NOT USE this child restraint if the
top of your child's head is LESS THAN
1 inch (2,5 cm) from the top of the
restraint.
• NEVER place this child restraint on a
front seat with an active airbag. DEATH
or SERIOUS INJURY may occur. The
REAR seat is the safest place for
children 12 and under.
• ONLY USE this child restraint REAR
FACING.
• NEVER INSTALL this child restraint in
vehicle seats that face the rear or side
of the vehicle.
• ALWAYS CHECK the Harness buckle
to make sure it is securely latched.
• ALWAYS KEEP your child properly
secured in the Harness. A snug strap
should not allow any slack. It lies in a
relatively straight line without sagging.
It does not press on the child’s esh or
push the child’s body into an unnatural
position.
• NEVER LEAVE your child
UNATTENDED or alone in the vehicle,

even for one minute.
• ALWAYS have the handle LOCKED
in the upright DRIVE/CARRY position
while using this child restraint in a
vehicle.
• WHENEVER POSSIBLE, INSTALL
the Aton Q Base with Load Leg in a
seating position that will allow the Load
Leg to be extended into a LOCKED
position with rm contact with the
vehicle oor.
• NEVER INSTALL the Aton Q Base
with Load Leg in a seating position
where the Load Leg, even in its shortest
position, causes the Base to be pushed
up above the vehicle seat. If necessary,
the Base may be installed with the Load
Leg folded up underneath.
• ALWAYS USE a Linear Side-impact
Protection (L.S.P.) device on the side of
the child restraint immediately adjacent
to a vehicle door or panel.
• NEVER EXTEND a Linear Side-
impact Protection (L.S.P.) device
toward a passenger or another child
restraint.
• NEVER USE this child restraint in a
vehicle seating position where it cannot
be secured tightly. A loosely installed
child restraint will NOT PROTECT your
child in a crash.
• NEVER LEAVE a vehicle seat back
with a folding mechanism unlocked. In
the event of a sudden stop, an unlocked
vehicle seat back could prevent this
child restraint from protecting your child
as well as it should.
• NEVER USE this child restraint with
any motorized, or door mounted vehicle
seat belts. Your child would not be

properly restrained in the event of a
crash.
• NEVER USE this child restraint on
boats, low speed vehicles (LSV),
all-terrain vehicles (ATV), golf carts, or
any other non-certied application.
• BEFORE each use, ALWAYS CHECK
that the child restraint is tightly secured
in the vehicle seat and does not move
more than 1 inch (2,5 cm) in any
direction when checked at the belt path.
• ALWAYS CHECK buckles and other
parts for hot surfaces. A hot surface
could burn your child! Cover an
unoccupied child restraint with a blanket
when leaving it in a vehicle exposed to
sunlight.
• ALWAYS CHECK to make sure the
Infant Carrier is securely attached to the
Base with Load Leg, each time you use
this restraint. After attaching the Infant
Carrier to the base, LIFT UP on the
Infant Carrier handle to make sure that
it is securely attached to the base.
• ONLY USE with Aton Base 2 with
Load Leg
• NEVER LEAVE an empty child
restraint unsecured in your vehicle.
This restraint MUST ALWAYS BE
SECURED, even when not occupied.
An unsecured child restraint could
injure vehicle occupants in a sudden
stop or crash.
• If the LATCH connectors are NOT
BEING USED make sure they are
securely stored.
• DO NOT USE this child restraint
if it has been in a crash. There may
be hidden damage and it must be
replaced. Your insurance company may

provide some assistance in replacing
the child restraint.
• NEVER USE this child restraint when
it is older than six (6) years. The date
of manufacture can be found on a
label afxed to the bottom of the Infant
Carrier, as well as the Base.
• NEVER USE this child restraint if any
of the Harness or LATCH straps are
cut, frayed, or damaged in any way.
• NEVER USE accessories or
parts with this child restraint other
than those approved by CYBEX.
Use of accessories or parts from
other manufacturers could alter the
performance of the child restraint.
• DO NOT USE this child restraint with
inatable seat belts.
USING THE INFANT CARRIER
OUTSIDE A VEHICLE
• NEVER leave child unattended.
• SUFFOCATION HAZARD: Infant
carrier can roll over on soft surfaces
and suffocate child. NEVER place
Infant Carrier on beds, sofas, or other
soft surfaces.
• FALL HAZARD: Child’s activity can
move carrier. NEVER place carrier
on counter tops, tables, or any other
elevated surfaces.
• ALWAYS USE the complete and
buckled ve-point Harness around your
child.
• ALWAYS KEEP your child properly
secured in the Harness, even when
using the carrier outside of the vehicle.
• DO NOT USE the infant carrier if it is

damaged or broken.
• NEVER PLACE Infant Carrier on top
of a shopping cart.
• MAKE SURE the handle is LOCKED
in the Carry Position before lifting Infant
Carrier by the handle. An unlocked

• ONLY USE Infant Carrier with strollers
that are approved by the manufacturer.

the best way to reach you in the event of

restraint with a premature, low birth
weight, or medically fragile infant, until
you have consulted with your doctor.
Some infants may have difculty
breathing or have other medical problems
when placed in a seated position.
• DO NOT ALLOW children to play with
this child restraint.
• DO NOT ATTEMPT to make repairs to
or otherwise modify or tamper with this
child restraint.
• DO NOT USE a used child restraint
whose history you do not know.
• DO NOT ALLOW children to play with
vehicle seat belts. They may create an
ENTANGLEMENT HAZARD for any
child that can reach the seat belt and
may wrap it around his or her neck.
• DO NOT LEAVE loose objects (e.g.
groceries, books, bags) in a vehicle. In
the event of a sudden stop, loose objects
will keep moving, potentially causing
serious injuries.
• NEVER TEND to your child’s needs
while driving. ALWAYS safely stop your
vehicle in order to tend to your child.
• NEVER TAKE your child out of the
infant car seat while the vehicle is
moving. Unrestrained occupants are at
a greatly increased risk of DEATH or
SERIOUS INJURY in a car crash.
• ALWAYS LOCK an unoccupied vehicle,
even in the garage. Children can get into
vehicle and accidentally lock themselves
in, resulting in DEATH or SERIOUS
INJURY by hyperthermia.

TRIPLE SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION™
Aton Q offers three layers of Side Impact protection:
1 The L.S.P. arm telescopes out
from the side of the Aton Q and
in a side impact, will be the rst
contact point with any intruding
side structure of the vehicle. Upon
contact, the L.S.P. arm begins
absorbing impact forces and
reduces the force being transferred
to the seat itself.
2 The outer shell and EPS foam
liner absorb any transferred energy,
further dissipating the crash forces.
3 Finally, the headrest protects the most important part of the child’s
body, the head, with an additional layer of energy absorbing EPS
foam.
LOAD LEG
The adjustable Load Leg helps
minimize crash forces on a baby in
a frontal crash. It allows the seat's
safety systems to absorb and transfer
crash forces more effectively by
directing some of them to the vehicle
oor and preventing forward rotation.
PERFECT POSITIONER™
The innovative Perfect Positioner can be
adjusted through eight positions to best t your
baby. It not only adjusts the Harness Height
without any need for rethreading, but also
automatically adjusts the depth of the seat. In
addition it provides the proper recline angle,
especially for the newborn in the lowest postion.

INSTALLATION
The Aton Q Belt Tensioner
uses CYBEX's SEAT

quick and secure installation
every time, whether you
choose to use LATCH or
vehicle belts.
STEEL CHASSIS
The Steel Chassis is a continuous metal frame integrated into
the Base from front to back. It
provides strength, a secure
connection between the Infant
Carrier and Base. It also
absorbs crash forces from the
Load Leg.

Use the CYBEX Aton Q until your child reaches the maximum weight or height limits. Because not all
children have the same shapes and sizes, DO NOT USE the Aton Q when the top of the child's head
is less than 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the top of the Infant Carrier. This allows for proper protection during
a crash.
After your child outgrows the Aton Q, keep your child rear-facing in a convertible seat as long as the
seat allows, according to the manufacturer's specications, before turning them around to ride
Forward Facing.

HARNESS BUCKLE
To release Buckle Tongues, rmly press the red button on the
Harness Buckle and pull the tongues out.
To fasten, insert each Tongue into Buckle, listening for an
audible CLICK. Pull on each to verify a secure connection.
Check that the Buckle functions properly and is kept free of dirt and debris.
For cleaning, see page 44.
CHEST CLIP
To separate Chest Clip, squeeze top and bottom tabs and pull
apart. To fasten, slide the two parts together until an audible CLICK
is heard.
Always position the center of the Chest Clip even with the child's armpits.

USING THE INFANT CARRIER
HANDLE POSITIONS
The Handle has four LOCKED positions:
1. DRIVE and CARRY position
2. 1ST LOADING position
3. 2ND LOADING position
4. RESTING position
To move handle to a new position, squeeze BOTH Handle
Adjustment Buttons

BOTH Adjustment Buttons must be depressed at the same time in
order for the handle to move.
INTEGRATED CANOPY
Simply pull forward to extend the Aton Q Canopy. The Canopy has
four positions as shown.
To retract the Canopy, gently push it back into its original position.

ALWAYS have the handle locked in the DRIVE/CARRY
position while using this child restraint in a vehicle.
ALWAYS verify that the handle is LOCKED in the drive/
carry position before lifting Infant Carrier by the handle.
An unlocked handle could move unexpectedly, causing
child to fall out.
ALWAYS keep your child properly secured in the
Harness even when using the carrier outside of the
vehicle.
NEVER hang toys or other objects from handle when
using child restraint in a vehicle as they could seriously
injure a child in a sudden stop or crash.
USING THE INFANT CARRIER
EN
ADJUSTING THE SEAT
The Aton Perfect Positioner™ consists of a headrest, no
rethread harness and padded insert. The Perfect Positioner
may be adjusted up and down through eight positions to
perfectly t your baby.
The Aton Q is shipped in the lowest position with the Padded
Insert already folded.
1. Unbuckle the Harness and Chest Clip
2. Place the child in the Infant Carrier, making sure
the buttocks are sitting in the very bottom of the
seat, with their crotch at the crotch strap.
3. Adjust for your baby by pulling up on the gray plastic Positioner
Ring while sliding the Perfect Positioner up until the Harness
Slots are even with or slightly below your child's shoulders.
Periodically check for proper strap height as your child grows.
If your child's shoulders fall below the Harness Slots, even in the
lowest position, the lower portion of the Padded Insert should be
folded under at the seam in order to boost your child up for proper
Harness t.
Unfold the Insert when no longer needed to reach the Harness Slots.
If needed, fold the Padded Insert
under at the seam to boost your
child up for proper Harness t.

For proper use of the Infant Carrier, the Harness
shoulder straps MUST be AT or BELOW your child's
shoulders.
USING THE INFANT CARRIER
SECURING THE CHILD
1. Loosen Harness by rmly pressing down the
Harness Adjustment Button

forward on both straps at shoulder level.

2. Press red button on Harness Buckle to release Tongues.
3. Separate Chest Clip and spread straps apart. Place child
in Infant Carrier in seated position making sure their
bottom is in the seat, and their back is fully supported.
4. Pull Harness straps over each arm onto shoulders
and around the hips. Make sure Buckle Pad and
Harness Buckle are between the legs.
Newborns tend to draw arms and legs close to their bodies. Gently extend
each limb to allow for proper Harness positioning. Be mindful of especially
sensitive areas (e.g. bellybuttons, circumcisions).
5. Buckle by inserting one Tongue at a time into the
Harness Buckle listening for an audible CLICK with each
one. Make sure Harness Straps are not twisted.
6. Connect the Chest Clip listening for an audible CLICK.

MAKE SURE Harness straps are AT or BELOW child's
shoulders. If not, refer to page 19.
ALWAYS check Harness Buckle to make sure it is
securely latched. Failure to fasten and tighten the
Harness system correctly with each use can result in
DEATH or serious injury.

7. Pull up on Harness Straps to snug around the child's
hips while holding the Harness Buckle in place.
8. Slowly pull the adjuster strap to tighten the Shoulder Straps.
A snug strap should not allow any slack. It lies in a relatively
straight line without sagging. It does not press on the child’s
esh or push the child’s body into an unnatural position.
9. Position the center of the Chest Clip even with the
child's armpits. Make sure the Shoulder Pads do not
interfere with the placement of the Chest Clip.
If the Shoulder Pads don't allow a proper t,they can be removed to
provide more space for the Chest Clip. Unsnap to remove.
10. Harness Pinch Test. To test for a properly tightened
Harness, pinch the shoulder strap. A snug Harness
should not allow you to pinch any slack when pinched
between your thumb and forenger. If needed, pull
adjuster strap further for a tight and proper t.
To keep child warm, place a blanket over child and Infant Carrier, AFTER
you have properly secured and tightened Harness around your child.

Administration (NHTSA) recommends that parents select the
REAR SEAT as the safest location for a properly installed
child restraint rather than a front seating position.
ONLY PLACE this child restraint REAR FACING in a vehicle seating

The design and operation of vehicle seat belt systems vary from vehicle to vehicle and from seating location to
seating location in the same vehicle. Refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual
for proper use, placement, and
adjustment of the vehicle’s lap and shoulder belts.
NEVER INSTALL THIS CHILD RESTRAINT WITH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING VEHICLE BELTS:
• A lap belt with a motorized shoulder belt
• Vehicle belts that are attached to the door in any way, or that move along a track automatically to restrain the
passenger when the door is closed
• Lap belts with an Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR).
These lap belts stay loose and can move until locking in a crash or sudden stop.
• Combination Lap/Shoulder Belt with Two ELR Retractors.
Lap-shoulder belts that have a separate non-locking retractor each for the lap section and the shoulder section.
• Lap belts forward of the seat crease, or bight.
• Inatable Seat Belts
The Aton Q is allowed to touch the vehicle seat(s) in front of it, as long the recline angle of the Aton Q is not affected.
The best position for the child restraint is one that is recommended by your vehicle Owner’s Manual, AND allows a proper and
secure installation of the restraint every time. If possible, have an adult ride in the rear with the child in order to monitor the child.

VEHICLE SEAT LOCATION REQUIREMENTS
WHAT IS LATCH?
LATCH is an acronym for Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren
and refers to a pair of xed Lower Anchors (or bars) and a Top
Tether anchor that are built into your vehicle.
The lower LATCH anchors are located in the crease, or bight,
between the vehicle seat back and seat cushion, and if not visible,
will typically be indicated by
symbols. Top tether anchors are
located in various places behind the seat. Top tethers are not
required on infant car seats like the Aton Q.
Is it safer?
LATCH typically offers an easier and more consistent installation.
However, this child restraint can be safely installed using either
LATCH or vehicle belts. Either method is safe for your child when
installed correctly.
LATCH is standard in vehicles manufactured after September 1,
2002. Refer to your vehicle Owner’s Manual
for lower LATCH
anchor positions in your vehicle.
OUTER SEATING POSITIONS
Use the lower LATCH anchors OR a vehicle seat belt to install the
child restraint in outboard seating positions (those on either side of
the center position)
NEVER use LATCH together with the vehicle belts to
install this child restraint. Using both is not approved
and may cause improper performance of the child
restraint.

CENTER SEATING POSITIONS
If your vehicle does not have Lower Anchors in the center seating
position, check your Vehicle Owner’s Manual to see if you are
allowed to use the two inner Lower Anchors from the outboard
seating positions to install a Child Restraint.
CYBEX allows this child restraint to be installed using the two inner
Lower Anchors from the outboard seating positions if the distance
between the inner Lower Anchors is between 11 and 20 inches
(28-51 cm) AND if your vehicle manufacturer allows it. (If distance
is not correct and/or not allowed by vehicle manufacturer, use the
vehicle belt for installation in the center position.)
When using the inner Lower Anchors make sure there are no
obstructions from a buckle stalk for the installation or that the
LATCH straps or mini connectors do not block vehicle belt buckles.
Make sure there is enough height to use the Load Leg in the Center
Seating Position. Many vehicles have a hump in the oor that could
cause the Load Leg, even its shortest position, to push the Base
above the vehicle seat. See page 27.
USING LATCH GUIDES
1. Locate the lower LATCH anchors or the
symbols indicating their location.
2. If the lower LATCH anchors are hidden behind the
crease between the seat back and seat cushion,
install the supplied LATCH Guides to the lower LATCH
anchors for easier installation of the Aton Q Base.
3. To install, connect the two LATCH Guides to the two
lower LATCH anchors by sliding the LATCH Guides into
the crease and under the lower LATCH anchors.

USING LATCH
TO REMOVE FROM STORAGE
To install the Base using LATCH, the Connectors must be
removed from their storage compartments.
1. To access the LATCH Connector Storage compartments, squeeze
the Level Adjustment Handle to fully extend the Leveling Foot.
2. Remove each connector by pushing the
red button while pulling out.
3. Lengthen the strap between the connectors using the LATCH
Strap Adjuster located next to the connector on the right-hand
side. Push down on the Adjuster button while lengthening strap.
TO STORE
When using a vehicle belt to secure the Base, the LATCH
Connectors MUST be stored in the Base. Loose Connectors
could seriously injure vehicle occupants in the event of a crash.
1. Fully extend the Leveling Foot and slide each connector
back into its Storage slot until an audible CLICK is heard.
2. Close and Lock the Belt Tensioning Plate.
3. Remove any slack from the LATCH strap by pulling
on the LATCH Strap Tensioning Loop.
Do not remove more slack from the LATCH Strap than necessary to
allow it to lie at on the bottom of the Base between the Belt Guides.
4. Retract the Leveling Foot by squeezing the Level
Adjustment Handle and pushing in the Leveling Foot.

The Load Leg is an effective safety feature of the Aton Q and
using it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. However, if necessary
(e.g. in a center position with a hump in the oor), the Base may
be installed with the Load Leg folded up underneath the Base. If
ALL installation requirements for the Load Leg cannot be met,
you MUST choose another seating position, or install the Infant
Carrier without the Base.
TO EXTEND
1. Install the Base making sure Recline Angle is
correct for your child. See page 28.
2. Squeeze the Adjustment Handle on the Load Leg and
extend the Foot until it rests on the vehicle oor.
3. Secure the Foot into place using the rst hole that will lock it rmly
against the vehicle oor without lifting the Base up off of the seat.
It may be necessary to lift up slightly on the Base to allow the Foot to
lock into the hole.

USING THE LOAD LEG
It is very important for your child's safety that this child
restraint be installed at the correct recline angle. Before
attaching the Infant Carrier to the Base, always check the Level
Indicator for the correct recline angle range based on your
child's weight.
Vehicle must be on a level surface for the Level Indicator to function
correctly.
ADJUST RECLINE ANGLE
1. Squeeze the Level Adjustment Handle to extend or retract
the Leveling Foot until the Base is within the recommended
range for your child. There are four recline positions.
2. Release handle to lock Foot in place.
3. Install Base. Be sure to check for correct
recline angle after installation.
If the Recline Angle is not correct after installation, uninstall the base,
adjust Leveling Foot and reinstall.

DO NOT use this or any other child restraint with a
premature, low birth weight, or medically fragile infant,
until after you have consulted with your doctor. Some
infants may have difculty breathing or have other
medical problems when placed in a seated position.
If the child restraint is too upright, the child's head
may fall forward and cause breathing problems. If the
child restraint is TOO RECLINED crash protection will
be reduced.
Failure to properly recline the child restraint on the
vehicle seat increases the risk of Death or serious
injury.
ADJUSTING THE RECLINE ANGLE USING THE BASE

1. Remove LATCH anchors from storage. See page 26.
2. Unfold the Load Leg from underneath the Base.
3. Position Base on a rear vehicle seat. If a hump is present
on the oor of the vehicle, See page 27 for important
information on using the Load Leg in this seating position.
4. Adjust the Leveling Foot to achieve the correct angle for your
child's weight as shown on the Level Indicator. See page 28.
5. Fully open Belt Tensioning Plate by turning the orange Locking
Lever to the
OPEN position and lifting up on the Plate.
Once open, the Belt Tensioning Plate will remain open on its own. The
Locking Lever should be in the OPEN position with the Plate open.
6. Attach both LATCH Connectors to the Lower LATCH Anchors.
Each should make an audible CLICK when attached. Make
sure they are attached by pulling rmly on the connectors.
7. Push Base against vehicle seat back. Tension the LATCH
strap by pulling on the LATCH Strap Tensioning Loop to take
the slack out of the LATCH Strap, just enough to make it taut.
Tuck the loose end of the strap under the base so it WILL
NOT INTERFERE with the closing of the Belt Tensioning
Plate or the connection of the Infant Carrier to the Base.
At this point, the LATCH strap should only be taut as the Belt
Tensioning Plate will tighten the system fully.

through the Belt Guides on both sides of the Base. BUCKLE
THE BELT. Make sure the belts lay at and are not twisted.
The vehicle belt should ALWAYS be routed UNDER the tab on the Belt
Guide. NEVER place a vehicle belt over the tab on the Belt Guide, even in
a vehicle with longer buckle stalks.
7. On the buckle side, rst lift up on the shoulder belt
to remove slack in the lap belt

to over tighten them. The Belt Tensioning Plate will tighten the system

1. Position Infant Carrier on a rear vehicle seat, with the
foot end rmly against the back of the vehicle seat.
2. Route vehicle lap belt under both Belt
Guides. BUCKLE THE BELT.
3. Push Infant Carrier rmly into vehicle seat, pressing
down near the crotch strap between the child’s
legs, while removing slack from the lap belt.
4. If necessary, tuck the loose end of the lap belt out of the way.
5. Check the recline angle. Adjust the seat angle until the red Level
Line on the Infant Carrier is level with the ground. A tightly rolled
towel or pool noodle may be placed under the Infant Carrier
near the vehicle seat back to adjust the angle. See page 42.
The Aton Q is allowed to touch the vehicle seat(s) in front of it, as long

The FAA recommends that children up to 40 pounds
(18 kg) use a certied, harnessed child seat while travelling
on an airplane. The Aton Q is certied for airplane use.
INSTALLING THE CARRIER ON AIRPLANE
Install your Infant Carrier in a window seat to avoid blocking the
aisle.
1. Position Infant Carrier rear facing in aircraft seat with the
foot end rmly against the back of the vehicle seat.
2. Route lap belt under both Belt Guides. BUCKLE THE BELT.
3. Push Infant Carrier rmly into aircraft seat
while removing slack from the lap belt.
4. Check the recline angle. Adjust the seat angle until the red
Level Line on the Infant Carrier is level with the oor of the
aircraft. A tightly rolled airline blanket may be placed under
the Infant Carrier to adjust the angle. See page 42.
5. Grab the Infant Carrier at the Belt Guides and pull
from side to side and front to back to make sure it
is installed correctly. The Infant Carrier should not
move more than 1 inch (2.5 cm) in any direction.

USING THE INFANT CARRIER ON AIRPLANE
It's very important for your child's safety that this child
restraint be installed at the correct angle.
ADJUST RECLINE
Adjust the seat angle until the RED Level Line on the Infant
Carrier is level with the ground.
If you are having trouble achieving the proper recline angle:
1. Uninstall Infant Carrier.
2. Place a tightly rolled towel or pool noodle under
the Infant Carrier, where indicated. If on an aircraft,
a tightly rolled airline blanket may be placed
under the Infant Carrier to adjust the angle.
3. Continue installation.

DO NOT use this or any other child restraint with a
premature, low birth weight, or medically fragile infant,
until after you have consulted with your doctor. Some
infants may have difculty breathing or have other
medical problems when placed in a seated position.
If the child restraint is too upright, the child's head
may fall forward and cause breathing problems. If the
child restraint is TOO RECLINED crash protection will
be reduced.
Failure to properly recline the child restraint on the
vehicle seat increases the risk of Death or serious
injury.
ADJUSTING THE RECLINE ANGLE WITHOUT THE BASE
EN
ALWAYS USE the L.S.P. device when the Infant Carrier
is installed in an outer seating position, either WITH OR
WITHOUT the Base.
TO EXTEND
The L.S.P. telescopes out to two positions, fully extended and
intermediate.
Pull out the L.S.P. device on the side of the Aton Q adjacent to
the vehicle door or panel listening for an audible CLICK. If the
L.S.P. device is touching the door or panel, retract the L.S.P. to
the intermediate positon by pressing the button and pushing in the
L.S.P..
TO RETRACT
Depress the button while pushing the L.S.P. back into the carrier..

ALWAYS Use an L.S.P. device on the side of the child
restraint immediately adjacent to a vehicle door or
panel.
NEVER Extend an L.S.P. device toward a passenger or
another child restraint.
NEVER lift or Carry the child restraint using the L.S.P.

USING THE LINEAR SIDE-IMPACT PROTECTION (L.S.P.)
REMOVING THE SEAT COVER
The seat cover is designed to be very taut and to t exactly
inside the Infant Carrier. Please pay close attention before and
during the removal of the cover, to help remember how to put
it back on.
First, unbuckle the Harness and Chest Clip
HEADREST COVER
1. Remove Shoulder and Buckle Pads
2. Open Velcro at both sides of headrest cover
3. Carefully remove the cover from the headrest
SEAT COVER
4. Open buttons at both sides of seat cover
5. Detach snaps on both sides of seat cover (near handle)
6. Pull Canopy out of the shell canal
7. Fully extend canopy
8. Detach canopy snaps from back of shell
9. Detach three snaps from seat cover on back of shell
10. Remove seat cover from the Top
11. Carefully remove seat cover around the belt Guides
12. Pull the buckle through the seat cover
13. Remove seat cover

INSTALLING THE SEAT COVER
Reverse the removal instructions to reinstall the Seat Cover. Start
at the top of the seat and work your way down to the Belt Guides
and foot area.
Pay close attention to reinserting the edge of the Seat Cover into
the tight spaces around the Belt Guides, as well as the foot end of
the seat.

The integrated Harness System cannot be removed
from the seat. NEVER remove or attempt to remove
parts of the Harness System.
DO NOT damage, remove or dispose of any EPS foam.
NEVER use Infant Carrier without a properly installed
Seat Cover.

SPOT CLEANING
Spot clean Seat Covers, Shoulder Pads, Buckle Pad, and the
Infant Insert as needed with a clean cloth using mild detergent and
water.
WASHING INSTRUCTIONS
Seat Cover, Shoulder Pads, Buckle Pad, and the Infant Insert may
be washed as follows:

HARNESS STRAPS
Sponge clean using warm water and mild soap. Air dry. Do not iron.
HARNESS BUCKLE

Test by fastening and unfastening until an audible CLICK is heard
after inserting each buckle Tongue into the Buckle. If CLICKS are
not heard, repeat the cleaning procedure.
LATCH CONNECTORS
Sponge clean or thoroughly rinse LATCH Connectors with
warm water. Allow to dry thoroughly. Test by connecting and
disconnecting until an audible CLICK is heard after connecting
each connector to a lower LATCH anchor. If clicks are not heard,
repeat the cleaning procedure.
PLASTIC PARTS
Wipe clean with mild detergent and warm water.

NEVER remove Harness or Harness components from
Infant Carrier.
NEVER use bleach, household cleaners or solvents.
DO NOT lubricate.
CARE AND CLEANING
Did you read and understand this Owner’s Manual and all labels
found on this child restraint?
Is the child restraint rear facing in an approved vehicle seat
location?
If using the Base, is it securely installed with the Load Leg
locked rmly against the vehicle oor whenever possible?
Is the seat recline angle correct according to the Level Indicator
or red Level Line?
Is the Perfect Positioner adjusted to the correct position for the
size of the baby with the Harness Slots at or below your child's
shoulders.
Is the Harness secured properly with the Chest Clip positioned
at the armpits?
Is the Harness snug and not twisted?
Is the Infant Carrier securely attached to the Base? Is the green
Safety Button visible?
If the child restraint is next to a vehicle door or panel, is the
adjacent L.S.P. device extended?
Does your child weigh between 4 and 35 lb (1,8—15,9 kg)?
Is your child less than 30 inches (76 cm) in height?
Is the top of your child's head more than 1 inch (2,5 cm) from the
top of the Infant Carrier?
Is today’s date before the “Do Not Use After” date on the child
restraint?
Did you check for hot surfaces in sunny weather?
If you answered YES to all of these questions, you are good to
go, and please DRIVE SAFELY!
SAFE CAR PRACTICES
• NEVER drive under the inuence of alcohol or drugs.
• NEVER drive distracted (e.g. using cell phones, texting, tending
to children).
• Everyone rides buckled up or the vehicle does not go! MAKE
NO EXCEPTIONS for adults or children!
• Unrestrained adults are projectiles in the event of a crash and
can injure others in the vehicle.
• If someone unbuckles, the vehicle STOPS! Being rm and
consistent will result in fewer disciplinary problems as children
grow older.
• NEVER leave loose objects (e.g. groceries, books, bags) in a
vehicle. In the event of a sudden stop, loose objects will keep
moving, potentially causing serious injuries.
• NEVER leave a child alone in a vehicle, even for one minute.
• ALWAYS keep car doors LOCKED when vehicle is parked and
unattended to prevent children from climbing inside.

RECYCLING
Once your seat has reached its expiration date, we recommend
recycling the seat. Contact your local community recycling center
for the best way to dispose of your seat. We do not recommend
giving or selling the seat to anyone, or simply putting it in the
garbage.

crash. There may be hidden damage and it must be

• NO PERMITA que otros instalen o utilicen
este sistema de sujeción infantil a menos
que comprendan cómo instalarlo y utilizarlo
correctamente.
• SOLAMENTE COLOQUE este sistema
de sujeción infantil ORIENTADO HACIA
ATRÁS en la ubicación de asientos
admisible para el fabricante del vehículo.
Consulte su Manual del Propietario del
vehículo
para obtener información acerca
de los sistemas de cinturones de seguridad,
bolsas de aire e instalación de sistemas
de sujeción infantil para determinar las
ubicaciones de asientos admisibles.
• No todos los sitios dentro de un vehículo
son seguros para instalar este sistema
de sujeción infantil. De hecho, algunos
vehículos no cuentan con una ubicación
de asiento que sea segura para instalar un
Asiento Infantil de Auto. La COLOCACIÓN
INCORRECTA de este sistema de sujeción
infantil dentro de un vehículo puede
incrementar el riesgo de muerte o de
lesiones graves.
• Con Base en las estadísticas de choques,
la Administración Nacional de Seguridad
del Tránsito en las Carreteras de Estados
Unidos recomienda que los padres elijan el

ASIENTO TRASERO como la ubicación
más segura para un sistema de sujeción
infantil.
• La protección principal para los
ocupantes de un vehículo en un choque
es la estructura del vehículo mismo; un
sistema de sujeción infantil no protegerá
al niño si el vehículo recibe un impacto
fuerte. Este sistema de sujeción, siempre y
cuando se UTILICE CORRECTAMENTE,
incrementará considerablemente las
oportunidades de supervivencia en la
mayoría de los choques.
CUANDO SE UTILIZA DENTRO
DEL VEHÍCULO
• UTILICE SOLAMENTE con niños que
pesan de 4 a 35 libras (1,8 y 15,9 kg) que
miden 30 pulgadas (76 cm) o menos.
• NO UTILICE este sistema de sujeción
infantil si la parte superior de la cabeza del
niño está a menos de 1 pulgada (2.5 cm) de
la parte superior del sistema de sujeción.
• JAMÁS COLOQUE este sistema de
sujeción infantil en un asiento del frente
que tenga bolsa de aire activa. MUERTE
o LESIONES GRAVES podrían ocurrir.
El ASIENTO TRASERO es el lugar más
seguro para los niños menores de 12 años.
• SOLAMENTE UTILICE este sistema de
sujeción infantil orientado hacia atrás.
• JAMÁS INSTALE este sistema de
sujeción infantil en asientos que estén
orientados hacia la parte trasera o lateral del
vehículo.
• VERIFIQUE SIEMPRE la hebilla del arnés
para asegurarse que esté bien abrochada.
• MANTENGA SIEMPRE al niño
correctamente sujetado en el arnés. Una

• CUANDO ES POSIBLE, INSTALE la
Base del Aton Q con Pata de Carga en
una posición de asiento que permita que el
Extremo de la Pata de Carga esté extendido
en posición bloqueada haciendo contacto
rme con el piso del vehculo.
• JAMÁS INSTALE la Base del Aton Q en
una posición de asiento en la que la Pata de
Carga, este en su posición más corta, haga
que la Base quede por encima del asiento
del vehículo. Si es necesario, la Base puede
ser instalada con la pata de carga plegada
por debajo de la Base.
• SIEMPRE UTILICE un dispositivo de
Protección Linear contra Impactos Laterales
(L.S.P.) del lado del sistema de sujeción
infantil inmediatamente contiguo a la puerta
o panel del vehículo.
• JAMÁS LEVANTE el dispositivo de
Protección Linear contra Impactos Laterales
(L.S.P.) en dirección de un pasajero o de
otro sistema de sujeción infantil.
• JAMÁS UTILICE este sistema de sujeción
infantil en una ubicación de asiento donde
no pueda sujetarse rmemente. Un sistema
de sujeción infantil que quede suelto no
protegerá al niño en un choque.
• NO DEJE los asientos con mecanismos
plegables sin trabar. En caso de un frenado
súbito, un respaldo de asiento no bloqueado
suelto podría evitar que este sistema de

sujeción infantil proteja al niño tan bien como
debería.
• JAMÁS UTILICE este sistema de
sujeción infantil con cinturones de seguridad
automáticos o instalados en las puertas
ya que el niño no quedaría correctamente
sujetado en caso de un choque.
• NUNCA UTILICE este sistema de
sujeción infantil en botes, vehículos de baja
velocidad (LSVs), vehículos todo terreno
(ATVs), carritos de golf u otras aplicaciones
no certicadas.
• ANTES de cada uso, VERIFIQUE
SIEMPRE que el sistema de sujeción
infantil est rmemente sujetado al asiento
del vehículo y que no se mueva más de 1
pulgada (2,5 cm) en cualquier sentido al
vericarlo en la trayectoria del cinturn.
• REVISE SIEMPRE las hebillas y otras
partes para detectar supercies calientes.
Una supercie caliente podra quemar al
niño. Cubra con una manta el sistema de
sujeción infantil desocupado cuando deje el
vehículo expuesto a la luz del sol.
• VERIFIQUE SIEMPRE para asegurarse
que el Porta Beb est rmemente jado a
la Base con Pata de Carga cada vez que
utilice este sistema de sujeción. Después de
colocar el Porta Bebé en la base, levántelo
por el asa para asegurarse que esté
rmemente sujetado a la base.
• JAMÁS DEJE sin jar un Sistema de
Sujeción Infantil vacío en su vehículo. El
sistema de sujeción debe estar siempre
jado inclusive si no est ocupado. Un
sistema de sujeción infantil suelto podría
lesionar a los ocupantes del vehículo en
caso de choque o frenado súbito.
• Si los conectores del sistema LATCH NO
ESTÁN SIENDO UTILIZADOS, asegúrese
que estén bien guardados.

choque. El asiento puede tener daños
ocultos por lo que debe ser reemplazado.
Su compañía de seguros le puede prestar
ayuda para reemplazar este sistema de
sujeción infantil.
• SUSPENDA LA UTILIZACIÓN de este
sistema de sujeción infantil cuando tenga
más de seis (6) años de antigüedad. La
fecha de fabricación se encuentra en la
etiqueta pegada en la parte inferior del Porta
Bebé y la Base.
• JAMÁS UTILICE este sistema de sujeción
infantil si alguna de las correas del arnés o
del sistema LATCH está de alguna manera
cortada, rasgada o dañada.
• NO UTILICE accesorios o piezas con
este sistema de sujeción infantil distintos a
los autorizados por CYBEX. La utilización
de accesorios o piezas de otros fabricantes
podra modicar el funcionamiento del
sistema de sujeción infantil.
• USAR SOLAMENTE con la Base 2 del
Aton con Pata de Carga
• NO USE este sistema de sujeción infantil

• RIESGO DE CAÍDA: JAMÁS COLOQUE
el porta bebé sobre topes, mesas, u otras
supercies elevadas. Los movimientos del
niño podrían hacer que el porta bebé se
deslice y tanto el niño come el porta bebé
podrían caer.
• NO UTILICE este sistema de sujeción
infantil si tiene algún daño o fractura.
• JAMÁS COLOQUE el Porta Bebé encima
de un carrito de supermercado.
• ASEGÚRESE que el asa esté
BLOQUEADA en la posición de Acarreo
antes de levantar el Porta Bebé por el asa. Un
asa que no está bloqueada podría moverse
inesperadamente ocasionando que el bebé
caiga.
• UTILICE el Porta Bebé solamente en
cochecitos que estén autorizados por el
fabricante. Consulte el Manual del Propietario
del cochecito para obtener detalles sobre
cómo colocar el Porta Bebé en el cochecito.

mdico. Algunos bebs podran tener dicultad
para respirar o presentar algunos otros
problemas médicos si se les coloca en postura

este sistema de sujeción infantil.
• NO INTENTE hacer reparaciones o de
alguna otra forma modicar o manipular
indebidamente este sistema de sujeción
infantil.
• JAMÁS UTILICE un sistema de sujeción
infantil cuyos antecedentes de utilización
desconozca.
• NO PERMITA que los niños jueguen con
los cinturones de seguridad del vehículo.
Éstos podrían constituir un RIESGO DE
ESTRANGULACIÓN para cualquier niño que
alcance el cinturón de seguridad y se lo enrede
alrededor del cuello.
• NO DEJE objetos sueltos (por ejemplo,
libros, bolsas, etc.) en un vehículo. En caso de
un frenado súbito, los objetos sueltos seguirán
desplazándose con el potencial de ocasionar
lesiones graves.
• JAMÁS ATIENDA al niño mientras maneja.
SIEMPRE detenga el vehículo de manera
segura para atender al niño.
• JAMÁS SAQUE al niño del asiento de
elevación para atenderlo mientras el vehículo
esté en marcha. Los ocupantes que no están
sujetados representan un mayor riesgo de
muerte o de lesiones graves en choques
automovilísticos.
• SIEMPRE MANTENGA las puertas
cerradas con seguro cuando el vehículo está
desocupado aun cuando esté en el garaje. Los
niños pueden introducirse al vehículo y quedar
encerrados accidentalmente. Esta situación
podría causarles la MUERTE o LESIONES
GRAVES por hipotermia.

VISTA GENERAL DE LA BASE DEL ATON Q
TRIPLE SIDE IMPACT PROTECTION™
1. El brazo de Protección Lateral
contra Impactos Laterales (L.S.P.,
por sus siglas en inglés) se
despliega desde el costado del Aton
Q y, en caso de impacto lateral,
será el primer punto de contacto
con cualquier estructura lateral del
vehículo que invada. Al momento
del contacto, el brazo L.S.P.
comienza a absorber las fuerzas del
impacto y reduce la fuerza que se
transere al asiento mismo.
2. El armazón exterior y el forro de Espuma de Poliestireno
Expandido (ESP, por sus siglas en inglés) absorbe cualquier
energía transferida, disminuyendo todavía más las fuerzas de
choque.
3. El Apoyacabeza protege la parte
más importante del cuerpo del niño,
la cabeza, con una capa adicional de
Espuma de Poliestireno Expandido
que absorbe la energía.
PATA DE CARGA
La Pata de Carga ajustable ayuda a
minimizar las fuerzas de choque a
que está sujeto el bebé en un impacto
frontal. Permite que los sistemas
de seguridad del sistema sujeción
infantil absorban y transeran las
fuerzas de choque con mayor ecacia
al dirigir parte de ellas hacia el piso

PERFECT POSITIONER™
El innovador Posicionador Perfecto (Perfect
Positioner) se puede ajustar a través de ocho
posiciones para adaptarse mejor a su bebé.
No sólo ajusta la Altura del Arnés sin ninguna

LA ORIENTACIÓN HACIA ATRÁS ES LA MÁS SEGURA
En seguimiento a las recomendaciones de la Academia Americana de Pediatría para
el transporte seguro de bebés, le recomendamos que mantenga al niño en un asiento
infantil adecuadamente instalado mirando hacia atrás hasta que tenga por lo menos
dos (2) años de edad o que exceda el peso o la altura máxima indicada para el asiento.

Utilice el asiento CYBEX Aton Q hasta que el niño alcance los límites máximos de peso o altura.
Debido a que no todos los niños tienen las mismas formas y tamaños, no utilice el asiento Aton Q
cuando la parte superior de la cabeza del niño esté a menos de 1 pulgada (2.5 cm) de la parte
superior del Porta Bebé. Esto permitirá una protección adecuada durante un choque.
Cuando el Asiento Aton Q le quede pequeño al niño, manténgalo sentado mirando hacia atrás en un
asiento conertible el asiento lo permita siguiendo las especicaciones del fabricante antes de
voltearlo para que quede orientado hacia el frente.

HEBILLA DEL ARNÉS
Para liberar las lengetas de la hebilla, presione rmemente el
botón ROJO de la Hebilla del Arnés y jale las lengüetas.
Para abrochar, inserte cada una de las lengüetas en la hebilla
hasta escuchar un sonoro. Tire de las lengetas para vericar que
estén bien abrocha CLIC das.

CLIP DEL PECHO
Para separar el Clip del Pecho, oprima las lengüetas superiores
e inferiores para separarlas. Para abrochar, deslice ambas partes

Siempre coloque el centro del Clip de Pecho a nivel de las
axilas del niño.

SIEMPRE MANTENGA el asa bloqueada en la posición
MANEJAR/ ACARREO cuando utilice este sistema de
sujeción infantil en un vehículo.
ASEGÚRESE que el asa esté BLOQUEADA en la
posición de Manejar/ Acarreo antes de levantar el Porta
Bebé por el asa. Un asa no bloqueada podría moverse
inesperadamente ocasionando que el niño caiga.
MANTENGA SIEMPRE al niño correctamente colocado
en el arnés, aun cuando utilice el Porta Bebé fuera del
vehículo.
JAMÁS CUELGUE juguetes u otros objetos en el
asa cuando esté utilizando el sistema de sujeción
infantil en un vehículo ya que éstos podrían lesionar
gravemente al niño en caso de frenado súbito o choque.
USO DEL PORTA BEBÉ
PARA AJUSTAR EL ASIENTO
El posicionador Aton Perfect Positioner™ está conformado por un
Apoyacabeza, un arnés ajustable que no necesita recolocar las
correas y un inserto acojinado. El Posicionador Perfecto puede
ajustarse hacia arriba y hacia abajo en ocho posiciones para
acomodar perfectamente al bebé.
El Aton Q se entrega en la posición más baja con el Inserto
Acojinado ya doblado.
1.Desabroche el Arnés y el Clip del Pecho.
2.Coloque al niño en el Porta Bebé, asegurándose que las nalgas
queden bien asentadas en la base del asiento con la entrepierna a
nivel de la correa de entrepierna.
3.Ajuste al bebé tirando del Anillo Posicionador de plástico gris,
deslizando simultáneamente el Posicionador Perfecto hacia arriba
hasta que las Ranuras del Arnés estén a nivel de los hombros del
niño o un poco más abajo.
Si los hombros del niño quedan más abajo del nivel de las Ranuras
del Arnés, inclusive en la posición más baja, doble la porción inferior
del Inserto Acojinado por debajo en la orilla para levantar al niño y
colocarlo en la posición adecuada del Arnés.
Desdoble el Inserto cuando ya no se necesite para alcanzar las
Ranuras del Arnés.

Para el uso correcto del Porta Bebé, las correas del
arnés de hombros tienen que a la MISMA ALTURA o

1. Aoje el arns oprimiendo rmemente el Botn Ajustador

mientras tira de ambas correas hacia adelante. al nivel de las
axilas.

2. Oprima el botón rojo de la Hebilla del Arnés para liberar las
lengüetas.
3. Separe el Clip del Pecho y separe las correas. Coloque al
niño en el porta bebé en posición de sentado, asegurándose
que su trasero esté colocado en el asiento y su espalda esté
totalmente apoyada.
4. Pase las correas del arnés por cada brazo hacia los hombros
y alrededor de las caderas. Asegúrese que la Almohadilla de la
Hebilla y la Hebilla del Arnés queden entre las piernas.
Los recién nacidos tienden a colocar sus brazos y piernas cerca del cuerpo.
Suavemente, extienda cada una de las extremidades para permitir la
colocación correcta del arnés. Sea especialmente cuidadoso con las áreas
sensibles (por ejemplo: ombligos, circuncisiones).
5. Abroche insertando una lengüeta a la vez en la Hebilla del
Arnés hasta que escuche un CLIC sonoro en cada lengüeta.
Asegúrese que las Correas del Arnés no estén torcidas.
6. Conecte el Clip del Pecho hasta que escuche un CLIC sonoro.
7. Tire hacia arriba de las Correas del Arnés para ceñirlas
alrededor de las caderas del niño mientras sostiene en su lugar
la Hebilla del Arnés.

Revise SIEMPRE la Hebilla del Arnés para asegurarse

8. Lentamente tire de la correa ajustadora para apretar las
Correas de Hombros. Una correa bien ajustada no debe
quedar oja y debe estar colocada en una lnea relativamente
recta sin estar suelta. No debe estrujar la piel del niño ni
colocar su cuerpo en posición forzada.
9. Siempre coloque el centro del Clip de Pecho a nivel de las
axilas del niño. Asegúrese que las Almohadillas de Hombros
no intereran con la ubicacin del Clip del Pecho.
Si las Almohadillas de los Hombros no permiten un ajuste correcto, se
pueden retirar para tener más espacio para el Clip del Pecho.
Desabróchelas para retirarlas.
10. Prueba del pellizco para comprobar la tirantez del arnés. Para
comprobar que el arnés esté correctamente ajustado, pellizque
la correa de hombro. Si el arnés está ceñido usted no podrá
pellizcar alguna parte oja cuando trate de apretar la correa
entre el pulgar y el índice.
Para proteger al niño del frío, coloque una manta que lo cubra a él y al
porta bebé, DESPUÉS de haber colocado y ajustado correctamente el
arnés alrededor del niño.

El diseño y funcionamiento de los sistemas de cinturones de seguridad varían de un vehículo a otro y de una
ubicación de asientos a otra en el mismo vehículo. Consulte el Manual del Propietario del vehículo
para
conocer el uso, ubicación y ajuste correctos de los cinturones de regazo y de hombro del vehículo.
JAMÁS INSTALE ESTE SISTEMA DE SUJECIÓN INFANTIL CON NINGUNO DE LOS SIGUIENTES CINTURONES
DE SEGURIDAD:
• Un cinturón de regazo con cinturón de hombro automático.
• Cinturones de seguridad que estén unidos de alguna manera a la puerta del vehículo o que avancen
automáticamente por un riel para sujetar al pasajero al cerrar la puerta.
• Cinturones de regazo con Retractor de Cierre de Emergencia (ELR, por sus siglas en inglés).
Este tipo de cinturones de regazo se mantienen sueltos y permanecen móviles hasta que se traban en un choque o
frenado súbito.
• Una combinación de Cinturón de Regazo/Hombro con Dos Retractores.
Cinturones de regazo-hombro que tienen, cada uno, un retractor sin bloqueo separado para la sección del regazo y
la sección del hombro.
• Cinturones de regazo delante del pliegue del asiento (o recodo)
• Cinturones Inables.
El Aton 2 puede tocar el respaldo del (los) asiento(s) en frente, siempre y cuando el ángulo de reclinación del Aton 2 no se vea
afectado.
La mejor posición para el sistema de sujeción infantil es la recomendada en el Manual de Propietario de su vehículo y que permita
una instalación correcta y segura del sistema de sujeción cada vez.Si es posible, haga que un adulto viaje en la parte trasera con el niño
con el n de igilarlo.
REQUISITOS DE UBICACIÓN EN EL ASIENTO DEL VEHÍCULO
JAMÁS UTILICE juntos el sistema latch y los
cinturones del vehículo para instalar este sistema
de sujeción infantil. El uso de ambos sistemas no
está autorizado y podría causar un funcionamiento

USANDO EL SISTEMA LATCH
¿QUE ES EL SISTEMA LATCH?
LATCH es un acrónimo de Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children que quiere decir
anclajes inferiores y correas de anclaje para nios’ y se reere a un par de anclajes (o
barras) inferiores jos y una correa de anclaje que estn integrados a su vehculo.
Los anclajes inferiores del sistema LATCH están localizados en el pliegue (recodo)
entre el respaldo y el cojín del asiento del vehículo y pueden estar visibles o no a
primera vista. Si los anclajes inferiores del sistema LATCH no están visibles, su
ubicación estará indicada a través de
símbolos. Las correas de anclaje superiores
están localizadas en diversos lugares detrás del asiento. Las correas superiores de
anclaje no son necesarias en asientos infantiles como el Aton Q.
¿Es más seguro?
De manera característica, el sistema LATCH ofrece una instalación más sencilla
y homogénea. Sin embargo, este sistema de sujeción infantil puede instalarse de
manera segura utilizando ya sea el sistema LATCH o los cinturones del vehículo.
Cualquiera de estos métodos es seguro para el niño siempre y cuando esté
correctamente instalado.
El sistema LATCH viene instalado de fábrica en los modelos posteriores al 1° de
septiembre de 2002. Consulte el Manual del Propietario de su vehículo

POSICIONES EXTERIORES DEL ASIENTO
UTILICE los anclajes inferiores del sistema LATCH correspondientes O un cinturón
de seguridad para instalar este sistema de sujeción infantil en la posición del asiento
exteriores (los que están a cada lado de la posición central).

POSICIONES DEL ASIENTO CENTRAL
Si su vehículo no tiene Anclajes Inferiores en la posición de asiento
central, revise el Manual del propietario del vehículo para ver si
está permitido el uso de los dos Anclajes Inferiores del interior de
los asientos laterales al instalar el asiento para niños.
CYBEX permite este asiento de seguridad para ser instalado
usando los dos Anclajes Inferiores del interior de los asientos
del costado - si la distancia entre los Anclajes Inferiores del
interiores es de entre 11 y 20 pulgadas (28-51 cm) y si el fabricante
del vehículo lo permite (Si la distancia no es correcta y / o no
autorizada por el fabricante del vehículo, use el cinturón del
vehículo para su instalación en la posición central.)
Al utilizar los Anclajes Inferiores del interior asegúrese de que
no haya obstáculos de instalación de la hebilla o de las correas
LATCH o mini conectores que no bloqueen las hebillas del cinturón
del vehículo.
Asegrese que exista la suciente altura para usar la Pata de
Carga en el Asiento Central ya que muchos vehículos tienen una
joroba en el piso, la cual podría hacer que la Base quede por
encima del asiento del vehículo. Consulte la página 24.
LAS GUÍAS LATCH
1. Localice los anclajes inferiores del Sistema LATCH o los
símbolos que indican su ubicación.
2. Si los anclajes inferiores del Sistema LATCH están ocultos
detrás del pliegue formado por el respaldo y el cojín del
asiento, instale las Guías del Sistema LATCH que vienen con
el producto en los anclajes inferiores para una instalación más
sencilla de la Base Aton Q.
3. Para instalar, una las dos Guías del Sistema LATCH a los dos
anclajes inferiores del sistema deslizándolas en el pliegue y
debajo del anclaje inferior del Sistema LATCH.

USANDO EL SISTEMA LATCH
PARA SACAR DE ALMACENAMIENTO
Para instalar la base usando LATCH, los conectores deben ser removidos
de sus compartimientos de almacenamiento.
1. Para tener acceso a los conectores del sistema LATCH, oprima la Manija
de Ajuste de Nivel y extienda totalmente la Pata Niveladora
2. Retire cada uno de los conectores oprimiendo el botón ROJO mientras tira
hacia afuera.
3. Alargue la correa entre los conectores utilizando el Ajustador de Correa
del Sistema LATCH localizado junto al conector del lado derecho. Oprima
hacia abajo el botón Ajustador y saque la correa.
PARA ALMACENAR
Al utilizar el cinturón de seguridad del vehículo para sujetar la Base, ES
NECESARIO que los Conectores LATCH queden almacenados en la Base.
Los Conectores sueltos podrían lesionar gravemente a los ocupantes del
vehículo en caso de choque.
1. Extienda totalmente la Pata Niveladora para tener acceso al espacio de
almacenamiento de los conectores del sistema LATCH. Deslice cada
conector en la ranura de almacenamiento hasta escuchar un CLIC sonoro.
2. Cierre y Bloquee la Placa Tensora de Cinturones
3. Elimine cualquier holgura de la correa del Sistema LATCH tirando de
la Presilla Tensora de la Correa del Sistema LATCH localizada junto al
conector.
4. Repliegue la Pata Niveladora oprimiendo la Manija de Ajuste de Nivel a la
vez que presiona la Pata Niveladora.
No elimine más holgura de la necesaria en la Correa del Sistema LATCH para
permitir que ésta permanezca plana en la Base entre las Guías del Cinturón.

PARA DESMONTAR Y ALMACENAR LOS CONECTORES DEL SISTEMA LATCH

La pata de carga es una medida de seguridad ecaz del Aton Q y se
RECOMIENDA SU USO. Sin embargo, si es necesario (por ejemplo, en una
posición central con una joroba en el suelo), la base puede ser instalada
con la pata de carga plegada por debajo de la base. Si resulta imposible
cumplir con los requisitos de instalación de la Pata de Carga, usted
TENDRÁ que elegir otro asiento, o instalar el Porta Bebé sin la Base.
PARA EXTENDER
1. Asegúrese que la Base esté instalada de acuerdo con el Rango del ángulo
de reclinación que es el indicado para su niño.
2. Oprima la Manija de Ajuste de la Pata de Carga y extiéndala la Pata hasta

Cuando es posible, INSTALE la Base del Aton Q en una posición
de asiento que permita que el Extremo de la Pata de Carga esté

la que la Pata de Carga este en su posición más corta, haga que la

posición donde el extremo queda BLOQUEADO rmemente

USANDO LA PATA DE CARGA
Es muy importante para la seguridad del niño que el Sistema de
Sujeción Infantil quede instalado en el ángulo correcto. Antes de
colocar el Porta Beb a la Base , veriue siempre el Indicador
de Nivel para asegurar que está en el ángulo de reclinación
correcto según el peso del niño.
El vehculo debe estar sobre una supercie plana para ue el Indicador
de Nivel funcione correctamente.
AJUSTE DEL ÁNGULO
1. Apriete la Manija de Ajuste de Nivel para extender o replegar
la Pata Niveladora hasta que la Base quede en el rango
recomendado para su niño. Hay cuatro posiciones de reclinación.
2. Libere la manija para bloquear el Extremo de la pata en su lugar.
3. Instale la Base. Despus de instalar, verique que el ngulo de
Reclinación sea el correcto.
Si el ángulo de reclinación no es el correcto después de la instalación,
desinstale la Base, ajuste la Pata Niveladora y vuelva a instalar.

NO utilice éste o ningún otro Sistema de Sujeción
Infantil con un bebé prematuro sino hasta que haya
consultado a su médico. Los bebés prematuros podrían
tener dicultad para respirar o presentar algunos otros
problemas médicos si se les coloca en postura de
sentados.
Si el Sistema de Sujeción Infantil está demasiado vertical,
la cabeza del niño puede inclinarse hacia adelante y
ocasionarle problemas respiratorios. Si está DEMASIADO
RECLINADO la protección en caso de choque se verá
reducida.
Si el Sistema de Sujeción Infantil no está correctamente
reclinado en el asiento del vehículo, el riesgo de muerte o
lesiones graves se incrementa.

6. Una ambos Conectores del Sistema LATCH a los Anclajes
Inferiores del sistema LATCH. Cada uno debe producir un
CLIC sonoro al abrocharse. Asegúrese que hayan quedado
unidos tirando rmemente de los conectores.
7. Empuje la Base contra el respaldo del asiento del vehículo.
Tense la correa del sistema LATCH tirando de la presilla. Meta
el extremo suelto de la correa del Sistema LATCH debajo de
la base para que NO INTERFIERA con el cierre de la Placa
Tensora de Cinturones o la conexión entre el Porta Bebé y la
Base.
En este punto, la correa del sistema LATCH debería estar tirante. La
Placa Tensora de Cinturones tensará completamente el sistema.

8. Presione la Placa Tensora de Cinturones hacia abajo con

Si la Placa Tensora de Cinturones no se blouea, intente aoar
ligeramente la correa del sistema LATCH.
9. Tome la Base en las Guías de Cinturón y tire de ella de
lado a lado y del frente hacia atrás para asegurarse que
haya quedado instalada correctamente. La Base no debería
moverse más de 1 pulgada (2.5 cm) en cualquier dirección.
Si la Base se mueve demasiado, tensione la Correa del sistema
LATCH un poco ms y vuelva a vericar. espus de esto, si la Base
se sigue moviendo demasiado, es posible que tenga que probar en un
asiento distinto del vehículo o con un método de instalación diferente,
o ambos.
10. Oprima la Manija de Ajuste de la Pata de Carga y extiéndala

vehículo. Bloquee la Pata en su lugar usando el primer agujero
que le permita bloquearla rmemente en contacto con el piso
del vehículo.
Podría ser necesario levantar ligeramente la Base para permitir que la
Pata quede bloqueada en su lugar. Consulte la página 28.
11. Verique que el ngulo de Reclinacin est en el rango
indicado correcto para el peso del niño. De no ser así, retire
la Base, ajuste el ángulo de reclinación y vuelva a instalar.

OPEN
y levantando la Placa hacia arriba.
Una vez abierta, la Placa Tensora de Cinturones permanecerá abierta por su
cuenta. La Palanca de Bloqueo deberá estar en posición OPEN con la
Placa abierta.
5. Extraiga el cinturón de seguridad del asiento del vehículo para
formar un solo tramo de unas 24 pulgadas (60 cm). Sostenga la
lengüeta de la hebilla con una mano y oprima los cinturones de
regazo y hombro juntos con la otra.
6. Encamine los cinturones del asiento del vehículo por debajo de la
Placa Tensora de Cinturones y a través de las Guías de Cinturones
por ambos lados de la Base. ABROCHE EL CINTURÓN. Asegúrese
que los cinturones estén planos y no torcidos.
SIEMPRE encamine el cinturón de seguridad del vehículo POR DEBAJO de
la lengüeta de la Guía del Cinturón. JAMÁS coloque un cinturón de
seguridad por encima de la lengüeta de la Guía del Cinturón. Ni siquiera en
vehículos que tengan la base de la hebilla más larga.
7. Del lado de la hebilla, primero tire del cinturón de hombro
para eliminar cualquier holgura en el cinturón de regazo.

Base no debería moverse más de 1 pulgada (2.5 cm) en cualquier dirección.
Si la Base se mueve demasiado, abra la Placa Tensora de Cinturones y elimine una
mayor cantidad de holgura del cinturn del vehculo, cierre la Placa y vuelva a vericar.
Después de esto, si la Base se sigue moviendo demasiado, es posible que tenga que
probar en un asiento distinto del vehículo o con un método de instalación diferente, o
ambos.
10. Oprima la Manija de Ajuste de la Pata de Carga y extiéndala hasta que el
Extremo haga contacto rme con el piso del vehculo. Bloquee la Pata en
su lugar usando el primer agujero que le permita bloquearla rmemente en
contacto con el piso del vehículo.
Podría ser necesario levantar la Base para permitir que la Pata quede bloqueada en su
lugar. Consulte la página 28.
11. Verique que el ngulo de Reclinacin est en el rango indicado correcto para
el peso del niño. De no ser así, retire la Base, ajuste el ángulo de reclinación y
vuelva a instalar. Consulte la página 29.
Asegúrese que la hebilla y el mecanismo del cinturón de seguridad del vehículo no
intereran con la correcta instalacin del Base, o con la conexin entre el Porta Beb y
la Base.
12. Coloque el cinturón de seguridad del vehículo en el modo de BLOQUEADO;
consulte el Manual del Propietario
para obtener mayor información.
En la mayoría de los vehículos, se puede cambiar el retractor del cinturón de hombro al modo
de bloqueo extrayendo totalmente el cinturón de hombro y dejando que se rebobine dentro del
retractor. Tire del cinturón para asegurarse que efectivamente se esté bloqueando.

haya quedado instalada correctamente. La Base no debería
moverse más de 1 pulgada (2.5 cm) en cualquier dirección.
Si la Base se mueve demasiado, abra la Placa Tensora de Cinturones
y elimine una mayor cantidad de holgura del cinturón del vehículo,
cierre la Placa y vuelva a vericar. espus de esto, si la Base se
sigue moviendo demasiado, es posible que tenga que probar en un
asiento distinto del vehículo o con un método de instalación diferente,
o ambos.
10. Oprima la Manija de Ajuste de la Pata de Carga y extiéndala
hasta que el Extremo haga contacto rme con el piso del
vehículo. Bloquee la Pata en su lugar usando el primer agujero
que le permita bloquearla rmemente en contacto con el piso
del vehículo.
Podría ser necesario levantar la Base para permitir que la Pata quede
bloqueada en su lugar. Consulte la página 28.
11. Verique que el ngulo de Reclinacin est en el rango
indicado correcto para el peso del niño. De no ser así, retire
la Base, ajuste el ángulo de reclinación y vuelva a instalar.

Asegúrese que la hebilla y el mecanismo del cinturón de seguridad
del vehculo no intereran con la correcta instalacin del Base, o con
la conexión entre el Porta Bebé y la Base.

2. Levante el Porta Bebé por el Asa y deslice la Varilla de Sujeción

en una aeronave. El Aton Q est certicado para uso en aviones.
INSTALAR EL PORTA BEBÉ EN UNA AERONAVE
Instale su Porta Bebé en un asiento de ventanilla para evitar bloquear
el acceso al pasillo.
1. Coloque el Porta Bebé orientado hacia atrás en un asiento de la
aeronave con la punta del extremo colocada rmemente contra
el respaldo.
2. Encamine el cinturón de regazo debajo de ambas Guías de

Si est teniendo dicultades en lograr el ngulo de reclinacin
correcto:
1. Desinstale el Porta Bebé.
2. Coloque una toalla bien enrollada o un pedazo de otador de
piscina de polietileno debajo del Porta Bebé, en los lugares
señalados. Si se encuentra en una aeronave puede utilizar una
manta de la aerolínea bien enrollada.
3. Continúe con la instalación.

NO UTILICE éste o ningún otro Sistema de Sujeción
Infantil con un bebé prematuro, de bajo peso o
condición delicada sino hasta que haya consultado
a su médico. Los bebés prematuros podrían tener
dicultad para respirar o presentar algunos otros
problemas médicos si se les coloca en postura de
sentados.
Si el Sistema de Sujeción Infantil está DEMASIADO
VERTICAL, la cabeza del niño puede inclinarse hacia
adelante y ocasionarle problemas respiratorios. Si está
DEMASIADO RECLINADO la protección en caso de
choque se verá reducida.
Si el Sistema de Sujeción Infantil no está correctamente
reclinado en el asiento del vehículo, el riesgo de muerte
o lesiones graves se incrementa.

El L.S.P. telescopio se extendie a dos posiciones – totalmente
extendido e intermedio.
PARA EXTENDER
Extienda el dispositivo L.S.P. en el lado del Aton Q junto a la puerta
del vehículo o en el panel hasta escuchar un CLIC perceptible. Si
el dispositivo de L.S.P. está en contacto con la puerta o el panel,
retraer el L.S.P. a la posición intermedia presionando el botón y
empujando en el L.S.P.
PARA RETRAER
Presionar el botón mientras empuja el L.S.P. nuevamente dentro
del Porta Bebé
SIEMPRE UTILICE un dispositivo L.S.P. del lado del
sistema de sujeción infantil inmediatamente contiguo a
la puerta o panel del vehículo.
JAMÁS extienda el dispositivo L.S.P. en dirección de un
pasajero o de otro sistema de sujeción infantil.
JAMÁS extienda el sistema de sujeción infantil con los
dispositivos L.S.P. puestas.
USO DE PROTECCIÓN LINEAR CONTRA IMPACTOS LATERALES (L.S.P.)
RETIRAR LA FUNDA DEL ASIENTO
La Funda está diseñada para ser muy estrecha y adaptarse
exactamente dentro del Porta Bebé. Por favor, preste atención
antes y durante que retire la Funda para recordar como ponerla
de nuevo.
Primera, desabrochar el Arnés del Clip de Pecho

Dele la vuelta a las instrucciones anteriores para instalar de nuevo
la Funda del Asiento. Empiece en la parte superior del Asiento y
siga hacia abajo hasta los Guías del Cinturón y el área de los piés.
Preste mucha atención al volver a instalar el borde de la funda
de asiento en los espacios reducidos alrededor de las Guías del
Cinturón, así como la parte de los pies del asiento

CONECTORES DEL SISTEMA LATCH
Limpie con esponja o lave a fondo con agua tibia los Conectores
LATCH. Pruebe conectando y desconectándolos hasta escuchar
un CLIC sonoro después de conectar cada conector al anclaje
inferior del Sistema LATCH. En caso de no escuchar los clics,
repita el procedimiento de limpieza.
PIEZAS DE PLÁSTICO
Pásele un paño con agua tibia y detergente suave.

PRÁCTICAS SEGURAS DE CONDUCCIÓN
• JAMÁS conduzca bajo los efectos del alcohol o droga.
• JAMÁS conduzca distraído (utilizando el teléfono celular,
enviando textos, atendiendo a los niños).
• Todos viajan con el cinturón de seguridad abrochado o el
vehículo ¡No arranca! ¡NO HAGA EXCEPCIONES! Ni para
adultos ni para niños.
• Si alguien se desabrocha, ¡el vehículo se DETIENE! Ser rme
y constante resultará en menos problemas de disciplina a
medida que los niños vayan creciendo.
• JAMÁS deje objetos sueltos (comestibles, libros, bolsas, etc.)
en un vehículo. En caso de un frenado súbito, los objetos
sueltos seguirán desplazándose con el potencial de ocasionar
lesiones graves.
• JAMÁS deje objetos sueltos deje solo a un niño en un
vehículo.
• SIEMPRE mantenga las puertas del vehículo con seguro
cuando el vehículo está estacionado y desatendida para evitar
que los niños se suban en el interior.

dirección pre-impresa dentro de los treinta (30) días posteriores a

LIMITACIONES DE LA GARANTÍA
Esta garantía no cubre los efectos del uso y desgaste normal o
