IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

When using your telephone equipment, basic

safety precautions should always be followed

to reduce risk of fire, electric shock and injury

to persons including the following:

1. Read and understand all instructions.

2. Follow all warnings and instructions

marked on the product.

3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet

before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners

or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for

cleaning.

4. Do not use this product near water, for

example, near a bath tub, wash bowl,

kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet

basement or near a swimming pool.

5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart,

stand, or table. The product may fall causing

serious damage to the product.

6. Slots and opening in the cabinet and back or

bottom are provided for ventilation, to protect

from overheating. These openings must not

be blocked by placing the product on the bed,

sofa, rug, or other similar surface. This

product should not be placed in a built-in

installation unless proper ventilation is

provided.

7. Never push objects of any kind into this

product through cabinet slots as they may

touch dangerous voltage points or short out

parts that could result in a risk of fire or

electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind

on the product.

8. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not

disassemble this product, but take it to a

qualified serviceman when some service or

repair is required. Opening or removing covers

may expose you to dangerous voltages or

other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause

electric shock when the appliance is

subsequently used.

9. Unplug this product from the wall outlet and

refer servicing to qualified service personnel

under any of the following conditions:

A. When the power cord or plug is damaged or

frayed.

B.If liquid has been spilled into the product.

C.If the product has been exposed to rain or

water.

D.If the product does not operate normally by

following the operating instructions. Adjust

only those controls that are covered by the

operating instructions because improper

adjustment of other controls may result in

damage and will often require extensive work

by a qualified technician to restore the

product to normal operation.

E. If the product has been dropped or the

cabinet has been damaged.

F. If the product exhibits a distinct change in

performance.

10.Avoid using a telephone (other than a

cordless type) during an electrical storm.

There may be a remote risk of electric shock

from lightning.

11. Do not use the telephone to report a gas

leak in the vicinity of a leak.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Never install telephone wiring during a

lightning storm.

2. Never install telephone jacks in wet

locations unless the jack is specifically

designed for wet locations.

3. Never touch uninsulated telephone wires

or terminals unless the telephone line

has been disconnected at the network

interface.

4. Use caution when installing or modifying

Important Notice

Your CONAIRPHONE

telephone will operate

on all systems, true tone or rotary.

1. If your home is wired for rotary service,

move switch to pulse position (P).

2. If your home is wired for tone service, move

switch to tone position (T).

3. If you are unsure of the type of service you

have, ask your local telephone company.

NOTE: There is a provision for holding the

handset off hook when the telephone is wall

mounted. Position the handset on the notch

above the dial tone reset key. This is a

convenient feature when you need to call

another person to the phone or if you are

interrupted during the conversation

(see Diagram A).

Telephone Number Index

A telephone number index is provided for your

use in writing down frequently called

numbers. Your phone is equipped with ten

memories for storing important numbers. To

store phone numbers follow the KEY

FEATURES instructions below.

OPERATION

Receiving a Phone Call

• Handset

1. When your phone rings, pick up the

handset and use it like any basic telephone.

2. Hang up the handset to release the telephone

line when conversation is completed.

• Speakerphone

1. When your phone rings, press the SPEAKER

key (indicator light will come on).

2. Speak in the direction of the microphone.

3. Using the volume control, adjust the

volume to the desired sound level.

4. Press the SPEAKER key to end your

conversation and release the telephone line

(indicator light will turn off).

Dialing a Call

NOTE: Before dialing, make sure the Tone/

Pulse switch is correctly positioned for your

type of service.

• Handset

Pick up the phone and wait for a dial tone,

then press the keys for the number you want.

Your telephone (pulse setting) uses electronic

pulses to simulate dialing action. Because of

this you might hear pulsing for a second or

two after the last button has been pressed.

• Speakerphone

1. Press the SPEAKER key and wait for dial

tone.

2. Press the keys for the telephone number you

wish to dial.

INSTALLATION

Coil Cord Connection

Insert coil cord into modular jack located on

side housing. Connect the other end into the

modular jack located on handset.

Line Cord Connection

With modular jack telephone system connect

the straight telephone line cord to the modular

jack located at the back of the base. Insert the

other end of cord into a modular wall jack.

Make sure all plugs snap firmly in place (see

Diagram B).

With a four prong style jack, simply use a plug

in modular adapter (see Diagram C).

Wall Mounting

Your CONAIRPHONE

telephone is also

designed to mount on a wall surface over a

modular wall jack. Connect the telephone line

cord to the modular jack located on the top of

the base. Wrap the excess cord under the

telephone’s base. Insert the other modular

plug into the wall jack, making sure it snaps

firmly in place. Position the wall mount slots

on the bottom of the base over the two studs

of the wall plate. Pull down to lock in place

(see Diagram D).

3. When the party you are calling answers,

you will hear them through the speaker.

Adjust the volume to the desired level.

4. When you have completed your call, press

the SPEAKER key to release the telephone

line.

NOTE:You may pick up the handset at any time

during your conversation. Lifting the handset

will automatically disconnect the

speakerphone. To resume speakerphone

operation, press SPEAKER key and return the

handset to the cradle.

KEY FEATURES

Last Number Redial

Your CONAIRPHONE

telephone remembers

the last number dialed. If the number you dial

is busy or not being answered, hang up. If you

want to redial the last number automatically,

press the REDIAL button. NOTE: You can

redial the same telephone number as many

times as required. However, once you dial

another number, the previous number is

erased.

Ringer On/Off

When you don’t want to be disturbed, slide the

switch to the “Off” position. Now you can still

make outgoing calls without being disturbed

by incoming calls.

Receiver Volume Control

Using the volume control, enables you to

adjust the receiver volume on your telephone

from normal to high for a more comfortable

listening level.

Memory Feature

Your CONAIRPHONE

telephone is equipped

with 10 memories for programming your most

frequently dialed telephone numbers. You can

store up to 16 digits in each of the numeric

keys (0 through 9), by following these steps:

1.Lift the handset. Listen for dial tone.

2.Press and release the Store Key.

3.Dial the number to be stored. (The

telephone will not dial out.)

4.Press and release Store Key again.

5.Press the number Key (0-9) on the

telephone key pad where you want the

number stored. Replace handset in cradle.

To Retrieve Memory Numbers

1.Lift the handset. Listen for dial tone.

2.Press and release Memory Key.

3.Press the Number Key (0-9) where desired

number is stored.

HEARING AID COMPATIBILITY

Your CONAIRPHONE

telephone is compatible

with inductively coupled hearing aids.

FCC WANTS YOU TO KNOW

This equipment complies with part 68 of the

FCC rules and ACTA technical requirements.

On the bottom of the base of this equipment is

a label that contains, among other

information, the Registration Number and

Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this

equipment. You must, upon request, provide

this information to your telephone company.

The USOC number of the registration jack for

the equipment is RJ11C.

The FCC compliant telephone cord and

modular plug is provided with this equipment.

This equipment is designed to be connected

to the telephone network or premises wiring

using a compatible modular jack which is

TIA/EIA-IS-968 compliant.

The REN is useful to determine the quantity of

devices you may connect to your telephone

line and still have all of those devices ring

when your telephone number is called. In

most, but not all areas, the sum of the RENs

of all devices connected to one line should not

exceed five (5.0). To be certain of the number

of devices you may connect to your line, as

determined by the REN, you should contact

your local telephone company to determine

the maximum REN for your calling area.

If your telephone equipment causes harm to

ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY

This Conairphone

telephone is warranted to

the original purchaser to be free from defects

in materials and workmanship under normal

installation, use, and service for a period of

one (1) year from the date of purchase as

shown on the purchaser’s receipt.

The obligation of Conairphone

Retail Sales

under this warranty shall be limited to repair

or replacement (at our option) during the

warranty period of any part which proves

defective in material or workmanship under

normal installation, use, and service.

Products returned to us or to an Authorized

Service Center must be accompanied by a

copy of the purchase receipt. In the absence

of such purchase receipt, the warranty period

shall be one (1) year from the date of

manufacture. To obtain service under this

warranty, return the defective product to the

service center together with your sales slip

and $5.00 for postage and handling.

(California residents need only provide proof

of purchase).

This warranty shall be invalid if the product is

damaged as a result of defacement, misuse,

abuse, neglect, accident, destruction or

alteration of the serial number, improper

electrical voltages or currents, repair alteration

or maintenance by any person or party other

than our own service facility or an authorized

Service Center, or any use violative of

instructions furnished by us.

INSTALACIÓN

Conexión del cable en espiral

Coloque el cable en espiral en el enchufe

Conecte el otro extremo al enchufe modular

Con un sistema telefónico de enchufe

modular, conecte el cable telefónico recto al

enchufe modular ubicado en la parte inferior

a un enchufe modular de la pared.

Su teléfono CONAIRPHONE™ también está

OPERACIÓN

Recibiendo una llamada

• Auricular

1. Al sonar su teléfono, levante el auricular y

úselo como cualquier otro teléfono normal.

2. Al terminar su llamada, cuelgue el auricular

para desconectarse de la línea telefónica.

• Altavoz

1. Al sonar su teléfono, oprima la tecla

SPEAKER (Altavoz) (se encenderá la luz

indicadora).

2. Hable hacia el micrófono.

3. Usando el control del volumen, ajuste el

volumen al nivel de sonido deseado.

4. Oprima la tecla SPEAKER (Altavoz) para

terminar su conversación y desconectarse

de la línea (se apagará la luz indicadora).

Marcando un número

NOTA: Antes de marcar, asegúrese que el

interruptor de Tone/Pulse (Tono/Pulso) esté

colocado correctamente de acuerdo al tipo de

servicio que tiene usted.

• Auricular

Levante el auricular y espere hasta escuchar

un tono para marcar, luego use las teclas

para marcar el número que desee. Su

teléfono (en la modalidad de pulso) usa

pulsos electrónicos para simular la acción de

marcar. Debido a esto, podrá escuchar un

pulsado durante uno o dos segundos

después de oprimir la última tecla.

Aviso importante

Su teléfono CONAIRPHONE™ funcionará con

todos los sistemas, ya sea con los de tono

así como con los de disco (rotativo o pulsos).

1. Si el cableado telefónico de su casa es

para un servicio de disco, mueva el

interruptor a la posición de pulso (P).

• Altavoz

1. Oprima la tecla SPEAKER (Altavoz) y

CARACTERÍSTICAS PRINCIPALES

Remarcado del último número marcado

Su teléfono CONAIRPHONE™ recuerda el

último número que usted marcó. Si el último

número que usted marcó está ocupada o

nadie contesta, cuelgue el teléfono. Si desea

marcar automáticamente el último número

marcado, oprima la tecla REDIAL

(Remarcado automático). NOTA: Usted puede

volver a marcar el mismo número telefónico

tantas veces como desea. Sin embargo, si

marca otro número, será borrado el número

anterior.

Timbre apagado/encendido

Cuando no quiere ser interrumpido, deslice el

interruptor a la posición de “OFF” (Apagado).

Puede seguir haciendo llamadas sin que lo

interrumpan las llamadas entrantes.

Control del volumen del receptor

El control del volumen del receptor se

encuentra en la parte inferior de la base del

teléfono. Este control le permite ajustar el

sonido del receptor de normal a alto para un

nivel de sonido más agradable.

Característica de la memoria

Su teléfono CONAIRPHONE™ viene con 10

memorias para programar los números

marcados con mayor frecuencia. Usted puede

guardar hasta 16 dígitos en cada una de las

teclas numéricas (0 al 9), al seguir los

siguientes pasos:

Para programar las memorias

1. Levante el auricular. Escuche el tono de

marcar.

2. Oprima y suelte la tecla STORE (Guardar).

3. Marque el número telefónico que desea

guardar en la memoria. (El teléfono no

marcará el número).

4. Oprima y suelte la tecla STORE (Guardar)

nuevamente.

5. Oprima la tecla numérica (0 - 9) en donde

desea guardar dicho número. Coloque el

auricular nuevamente en el soporte.

Para hacer una llamada usando los

números guardados en la memoria

1. Levante el auricular y escuche el tono para

marcar.

2. Oprima y suelte la tecla MEMOR (Memoria).

3. Oprima la tecla numérica (0-9) de la

memoria en donde está guardado en

número telefónico que desea marcar.

Revise las columnas de POSIBLE CAUSA y

ACCIÓN CORRECTIVA para localizar y

remediar el problema. Si la solución a su

COMPATIBILIDAD CON APARATOS PARA LA

equipo, encontrará una etiqueta que contiene

entre otra información, el Número de Registro

de la FCC y el Número de Equivalencia del

El interruptor del timbre está

en la posición incorrecta.

Coloque el interruptor del timbre a la posición de

Encendido (On).

Hay demasiados teléfonos

instalados en la misma línea.

Póngase en contacto con su compañía local de

teléfonos para determinar el máximo número de

extensiones telefónicas para su área telefónica.

El volumen de sonido

está demasiado bajo.

Otra extensión telefónica está

descolgada.

Cuelgue dicha extensión.

Si ha seguido las instrucciones incluidas en

este manual, y tiene problemas para operar

su teléfono CONAIRPHONE

, localice el

PROBLEMA en la columna de la izquierda.

El Código Universal de Orden de Servicio

(USOC) del enchufe registrado para el equipo

es RJ11C.

El cable telefónico y el enchufe modular que

cumplen con la FCC vienen incluidos con

este equipo. El equipo fue diseñado a ser

conectado al cableado de la red telefónica o

cableado de la casa u oficina usando un

enchufe modular compatible lo cual cumple

con TIA/EIA-IS-968.

El número REN es usado para determinar el

número de aparatos que pueden conectarse

a su línea telefónica para que todos esos

aparatos suenen cuando entra una llamada a

su número. En la mayoría, pero no en todas

las áreas, la suma de todos los números

REN de todos los aparatos conectados a una

línea no deberá de ser superior a cinco (5.0).

Para estar seguro del número de aparatos

que usted puede conectar a su línea, según

lo determina el número REN, debe de ponerse

en contacto con su compañía local de teléfonos

para determinar el máximo número de REN

para su área telefónica en particular.

Si su equipo causa daños a la red telefónica,

la compañía de teléfonos podrá descontinuar

su servicio temporalmente. Si es posible, le

notificarán por anticipado. Sin embargo, si no

es posible notificarle por anticipado, será

notificado tan pronto como sea posible. Se le

informará sobre sus derechos para presentar

una queja ante la FCC.

Su compañía de teléfonos podrá efectuar

cambios en sus instalaciones, equipo,

operaciones o procedimientos que pudieran

afectar el buen funcionamiento de su equipo.

Si lo hacen, usted será notificado por

anticipado para darle la oportunidad de

mantener el servicio telefónico sin

interrupciones. Si tiene problemas con este

aparato telefónico, desconecte este aparato

de la red hasta que el problema sea

corregido o hasta que usted esté seguro de

B. Evite usar el equipo bruscamente, en

temperaturas extremosas.

C.Para limpiar el teléfono, use un detergente

suave y un trapo ligeramente húmedo,

nunca use solventes fuertes o abrasivos.

D. El conectar este teléfono a un teléfono que

opera con monedas o a una línea

compartida está prohibido por la ley.

E. Si se determina que su teléfono está

funcionando incorrectamente, la FCC

requiere que lo desconecte del enchufe

modular hasta que el problema haya sido

corregido.

SERVICIO

por la FCC, sólo puede ser reparado por

garantizado al comprador original de estar

libre de defectos de fabricación y en los

de un (1) año a partir de la fecha de

fabricación. Para obtener servicio bajo esta

garantía, devuelva la unidad defectuosa al

centro de servicio más cercano junto con su

recibo de compra y US$5.00 para gastos de

manejo y envío. (Los residentes de California

sólo necesitan proporcionar una prueba de

compra.)

Esta garantía será inválida si la unidad es

dañada como resultado de deterioro,

maltrato, abuso, negligencia, accidente,

destrucción o alteración del número de serie,

el uso incorrecto de voltajes o corrientes

eléctricas, reparaciones, alteraciones o

mantenimiento incorrecto por cualquier

persona o parte diferente a nuestro centro de

servicio o Centro de Servicio Autorizado, o

debido a cualquier uso en violación a las
