Followingthecleaninginstructionsaftereachusewillpreventany

remainingmedicationinthebottlefromdryingandcausingthedeviceto

nebulizeineffectively.

Itisrecommendedthatthereusablenebulizerandthemouthpiecebe

thoroughlyrinsedwithhottapwateraftereachuseandcleanedwitha

milddetergentafter

thelasttreatmentoftheday.ThesamepiecesMUST

alsobedisinfecteddailybysoakinginavinegar/watersolutionora

commerciallyavailabledisinfectant.Ifyourphysicianorrespiratory

therapistspecifiesadifferentcleaningprocedure,followtheir

instructions.

Cleaning the Outer Case

 WARNING

Unplugunitbeforecleaning.

DONOTsubmergeinwatertoclean.Cleanoutercasewith

dampcloth.

case creates a serious electrical shock hazard. All

disassembly and maintenance of this unit MUST be done

2. Disassemblenebulizerchamberbyturningcounterclockwiseand

separating.

3. Filltwoplasticcontainersorbowls:

A. Washing: Hotwater/detergentsolution.

B. Soaking:Hot

water/vinegarsolution (onepartvinegartothree

partswater).

4. Thoroughlycleanthenebulizerandmouthpieceinhot

water/detergentsolution.

5. Removefromthewater/detergentsolutionandrinsewithclearhottap

water .

6. Soakinhotwater/vinegarsolutionfor30minutes.

7. Rinsewithhottapwateragainandairdrythoroughly.

autoclaveatamaximumof121°Cfortenminutes.

1. BesurethenebulizeristurnedOFFandcordisremovedfromoutlet

beforestoring.

2. Storetherepackageddeviceinasafe,dryarea.DONOTplaceother

objectsontopoftherepackageddevice.

Nebulizer Change

Thenebulizerisdesignedforsinglepatientuse.

ThenebulizerMUSTbereplacedafteralongperiodofinactivityorwhen

itisobstructedbydrymedication,dust,etc.Thereusablenebulizershould

lastfromsixmonthstooneyearwithgeneraluse.Thedisposable

nebulizershouldlast30days.For

thenebulizerthatisdisposable,itis

recommendedthatanextranebulizerbekeptatalltimes.

Filter Change

1. ThefilterMUSTbereplacedafterapproximately30hoursofuseor

whenitturnsgrey.

2. Openthefilterholdertoreplacethefilterwithanewone.

CAUTION

DONOTusecottonoranyothermaterial.

DONOTwashorcleanthefilter.

UseonlyInvacarefilters.

DONOToperateunitwithoutanairfilter.

PROBLEM SOLUTION

Device does not

switch ON.

1. Make sure the plug is firmly fitted to the wall socket.

2. Try plugging into another wall socket that is known to

work.

3. Contact your Invacare representative.

Device does not nebu-

lize, or it nebulizes

weakly.

1. Make sure that the ends of the air tubing are fitted tightly

onto the main unit and onto the nebulizer.

2. Check whether the nebulizer is empty of medication or has

too much medication (MAX six ml).

3. Check whether the nebulizer nozzle is obstructed;.

4. Check whether the funnel is inserted.

If these possible solutions DO NOT work, contact your med-

ical dealer.

LIMITED WARRANTY

LIMITED WARRANTY

PLEASE NOTE: THE WARRANTY BELOW HAS BEEN

DRAFTED TO COMPLY WITH FEDERAL LAW APPLICABLE

TO PRODUCTS MANUFACTURED AFTER JULY 4, 1975.

This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser who

purchases this product when new and unused from Invacare

Corporation or a dealer. This warranty is not extended to any

other person or entity and is not transferable or assignable to

any subsequent purchaser or owner. Coverage under this

warranty will end upon any such subsequent sale or other

transfer of title to any other person. This warranty gives you

specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights

which vary from state to state.

Invacare warrants this product when purchased new and unused

to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a

period of five years from date of purchase from Invacare or a

dealer, with a copy of the seller’s invoice required for coverage

under this warranty. If within such warranty period any such

product shall be proven to Invacare's satisfaction to be defective,

such product shall be repaired or replaced, at Invacare's option,

with refurbished or new parts. This warranty does not include

any labor or shipping charges incurred in replacement part

installation or repair of any such product. Product repairs shall

not extend this warranty - coverage for repaired product shall

end when this limited warranty terminates. This warranty only

applies to the labor for repairs performed by the Invacare

Service Department. It does not apply to the labor performed

by the purchaser or user. This warranty does not include normal

wear and tear or shipping charges incurred in replacement part

installation or repair of any such product. Product repairs shall

not extend this warranty - coverage for repaired product shall

end when this limited warranty terminates. Invacare’s sole

obligation and your exclusive remedy under this warranty shall

be limited to such repair and/or replacement. Routine

maintenance items, such as filters, are excluded from this

warranty.

For warranty service, please contact the Invacare service

department during normal business hours at the toll-free

telephone number identified on the back cover of this manual.

Upon receiving notice of an alleged defect in a product, Invacare

will issue a serialized return authorization. It shall be the

responsibility of the purchaser to pack the product(s) or part(s)

adquiere este producto nuevo y sin uso en Invacare Corporation

o en un representante. La presente garantía no se emite a

esta garantía terminará en el momento en que se venda en

forma posterior o se ceda la titularidad a otra persona. La

presente garantía le otorga derechos legales específicos y

Invacare garantiza que este producto -si se adquiere nuevo y sin

haberse utilizado- está libre de defectos en los materiales y en la

mano de obra. Si, dentro de dicho período de garantía, el

producto demostrara ser defectuoso a satisfacción de Invacare,

ese producto se reparará o reemplazará, a opción de Invacare,

con piezas reacondicionadas o nuevas. Si, dentro de dicho

período de garantía, el producto demostrara ser defectuoso a

satisfacción de Invacare, ese producto se reparará o

reemplazará, a opción de Invacare, con piezas reacondicionadas

Invacare emitirá una autorización de devolución con número de

serie. El comprador será responsable de empacar el o los

productos o la o las partes de manera adecuada a fin de evitar

que se dañen durante su traslado y de devolver el o los

productos y la o las partes a la planta de Invacare o al centro de

reparaciones, según lo haya especificado Invacare por

Part No 1130203 9 Stratos™Compact SECTION 1—IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS WARNING Keep the nebulizer tubing, cord, and unit away from heated or hot surfaces, including space heaters, electric blankets, stoves and similar electrical appliances. NEVER drop or insert objects into any opening or hose. NEVER use while sleeping or drowsy. NEVER block the air openings of the product or place it on a soft surface, such as a bed or couch, where the air openings may be blocked. Keep the air openings free from lint, hair and the like. Blocked openings may cause the unit to shut down. Contact dealer immediately. The Stratos compressor nebulizer system uses the surrounding air to effectively administer the prescribed medication through the nebulizer. The user and administrator should be aware of surroundings so as not to have contaminated air filtered through the compressor nebulizer system. (Examples can be air contaminated with paint or cleaning fumes, weed killer, car exhaust, etc.) DO NOT use the Stratos compressor nebulizer system in these environments. Otherwise, serious bodily injury may occur. This unit is oil‐less. DO NOT lubricate. This equipment is not suitable for use in the presence of a flammable anesthetic mixture with air or with nitrous oxide. Low voltage can also be suspected when: • The motor does not get up to full power or speed. • Home fuses or circuit breakers activate when starting compressor. • Lights dim or remain dim when compressor is started. • Other motor operated appliances fail to operate properly or too many motor operated appliances are on same circuit. Extension Cords Make certain extension cord is in good condition. Make certain extension cord wire is NOT LESS than 18 gauge for 25 feet. Stratos™Compact 14 Part No 1130203 SECTION 4—HANDLING SECTION 4—HANDLING Shipping Instructions The shipping container has been designed to assure protection of this device. If this device is to be reshipped by common carrier, it should be packed in the same carton. Unpacking 1. Check for any obvious damage to the carton or its contents. If damage is evident, DO NOT use. Notify Carrier/Invacare or your local Invacare Dealer. 2. Remove all the loose packing from the carton. 3. Carefully remove all the components from the carton. NOTE: Retain carton and packing materials for use in shipping or storing the unit until use is required. Inspection 1. Examine exterior for nicks, dents, scratches or other damage. Inspect all components. Part No 1130203 15 Stratos™Compact SECTION 5—OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS SECTION 5—OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING DO NOT operate unit without filter. Avoid operating this product in a dusty environment. Otherwise, premature compressor wear could occur. Before using this device, check the bottom label to ensure proper voltage and frequency. NOTE: Clean and disinfect the nebulizer and mouthpiece before using the device for the first time. Refer to Cleaning and Disinfecting on page 20. Setup NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 5.1 on page 17. 1. Place the unit on a table or other flat, stable surface. Be sure you can easily reach the controls when you are seated. CAUTION Make sure the power switch is in the off “O” position. 2. Gently twist the nebulizer to separate it into two sections. Stratos™Compact 16 Part No 1130203 SECTION 5—OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 3. Be sure the pick‐up funnel is in place in the bottom section of the nebulizer. CAUTION DO NOT add over six ml of medication to the medication cup.The maximum capacity of the nebulizer medication cup is six ml. 4. Add the prescribed amount of medication to the cup of the nebulizer using an eyedropper, pre‐measured dose or ampoule (FIGURE 5.1). 5. Gently twist the top and bottom sections together to assemble the nebulizer. Be sure the two sections fit securely. Eyedropper Nebulizer Cup FIGURE 5.1 Adding Medication 6. Attach one end of the air tubing to the air tubing connector located on the front of the compressor. 7. Attach the other end of the air tubing to the base of the nebulizer. Part No 1130203 17 Stratos™Compact SECTION 5—OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING In the case of high humidity, condensation may form inside the internal tubing. Run the unit for two minutes before connecting the nebulizer to the tubing. 8. Attach the mouthpiece to the top section of the nebulizer. NOTE: Before starting a cold unit, let the unit reach room temperature in a heated area. 9. With the power switch off, plug the power cord into an appropriate electrical outlet. CAUTION This device is for intermittent use: 30 min. ON/30 min. OFF. Failure to operate within these limits could damage the device beyond repair. Treatment Instructions NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 5.2 on page 19. 1. Turn unit on, by pressing the ON/OFF switch to the “‐” position. 2. Place mouthpiece between your teeth, close your mouth and tilt the nebulizer toward your mouth (FIGURE 5.2). Stratos™Compact 18 Part No 1130203 SECTION 5—OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FIGURE 5.2 Using the Nebulizer 3. As aerosol begins to flow, inhale deeply, slowly, and hold breath for ten seconds. Then exhale slowly through the mouthpiece. NOTE: If you need to rest during a treatment, place the nebulizer on the nebulizer parking post located on the compressor. NOTE: Tighten caps on medication jars. 4. When treatment is complete, turn the unit off by setting the switch to the “O” position and unplug the unit from the electrical outlet. 5. Before storing supplies between treatments, clean and dry the nebulizer and accessories. Refer to Cleaning and Disinfecting on page 20. Part No 1130203 19 Stratos™Compact SECTION 6—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING SECTION 6—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Following the cleaning instructions after each use will prevent any remaining medication in the bottle from drying and causing the device to nebulize ineffectively. It is recommended that the reusable nebulizer and the mouthpiece be thoroughly rinsed with hot tap water after each use and cleaned with a mild detergent after the last treatment of the day. The same pieces MUST also be disinfected daily by soaking in a vinegar/water solution or a commercially available disinfectant. If your physician or respiratory therapist specifies a different cleaning procedure, follow their instructions. Cleaning the Outer Case WARNING Unplug unit before cleaning. DO NOT submerge in water to clean. Clean outer case with damp cloth. DANGER DO NOT remove outer case of this unit. Removing the case creates a serious electrical shock hazard. All disassembly and maintenance of this unit MUST be done by a qualified technician. Stratos™Compact 20 Part No 1130203 SECTION 6—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING Cleaning the Nebulizer WARNING To prevent possible risk of infection due to contamination, follow these instructions: • Clean the nebulizer before initial operations. • Clean the nebulizer after each aerosol treatment. • ALWAYS use fresh cleaning solution. • DO NOT towel dry the nebulizer components after cleaning. NOTE: Your physician and/or an Invacare dealer may specify certain cleaning procedures. If so, follow their recommendations. If not, clean according to the following instructions: 1. Remove the nebulizer and mouthpiece from the tubing. 2. Disassemble nebulizer chamber by turning counterclockwise and separating. 3. Fill two plastic containers or bowls: A. Washing: Hot water/detergent solution. B. Soaking: Hot water/vinegar solution (one part vinegar to three parts water). 4. Thoroughly clean the nebulizer and mouthpiece in hot water/detergent solution. 5. Remove from the water/detergent solution and rinse with clear hot tap water. 6. Soak in hot water/vinegar solution for 30 minutes. 7. Rinse with hot tap water again and air dry thoroughly. Part No 1130203 21 Stratos™Compact SECTION 6—CLEANING AND DISINFECTING NOTE: If using medical disinfectant cleaners, follow manufacturer’s instructions carefully. 8. Keep the outer surface of the tubing dust‐free by wiping regularly. NOTE: The nebulizer air tubing does not have to be washed internally because only filtered air passes through the tubing. Cleaning the Compressor CAUTION Unplug unit before cleaning. DO NOT submerge in water to clean. DO NOT clean using abrasive cleaners. 1. 2. Clean the casing of the main unit daily by using a soft cloth moistened with water or a mild detergent. Wipe the casing and immediately dry using a soft clean cloth. Cleaning the Mouthpiece 1. 2. 3. Boil the mouthpiece in water for a maximum of five minutes or autoclave at a maximum of 121° C for ten minutes. Allow the mouthpiece to air dry. Once dry, the mouthpiece may be stored inside the nebulizer top. Stratos™Compact 22 Part No 1130203 SECTION 7—MAINTENANCE SECTION 7—MAINTENANCE DANGER DO NOT remove outer case of this unit. Removing the case creates a serious electrical shock hazard. All disassembly and maintenance of this unit MUST be done by a qualified technician. Routine Care To keep your device in the best condition and protect the unit from damage, follow these directions: • DO NOT subject the device or the parts to any strong shocks such as dropping the device on the floor. • DO NOT store the device in extreme hot or cold temperatures, high humidity or under direct sunlight. • DO NOT wrap cord around device when storing. • Store nebulizer in a safe, dry location where it will not be crushed, banged, or subjected to damage. • Store cord in a safe location where it will not be cut or damaged. Storage 1. 2. Be sure the nebulizer is turned OFF and cord is removed from outlet before storing. Store the repackaged device in a safe, dry area. DO NOT place other objects on top of the repackaged device. Part No 1130203 23 Stratos™Compact SECTION 7—MAINTENANCE Nebulizer Change The nebulizer is designed for single patient use. The nebulizer MUST be replaced after a long period of inactivity or when it is obstructed by dry medication, dust, etc. The reusable nebulizer should last from six months to one year with general use. The disposable nebulizer should last 30 days. For the nebulizer that is disposable, it is recommended that an extra nebulizer be kept at all times. Filter Change 1. 2. The filter MUST be replaced after approximately 30 hours of use or when it turns grey. Open the filter holder to replace the filter with a new one. CAUTION DO NOT use cotton or any other material. DO NOT wash or clean the filter. Use only Invacare filters. DO NOT operate unit without an air filter. This warranty is extended only to the original purchaser who purchases this product when new and unused from Invacare Corporation or a dealer. This warranty is not extended to any other person or entity and is not transferable or assignable to any subsequent purchaser or owner. Coverage under this warranty will end upon any such subsequent sale or other transfer of title to any other person. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights which vary from state to state. Invacare warrants this product when purchased new and unused to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of five years from date of purchase from Invacare or a dealer, with a copy of the seller’s invoice required for coverage under this warranty. If within such warranty period any such product shall be proven to Invacare's satisfaction to be defective, such product shall be repaired or replaced, at Invacare's option, with refurbished or new parts. This warranty does not include any labor or shipping charges incurred in replacement part installation or repair of any such product. Part No 1130203 37 Stratos™Compact SECTION 1—MEDIDAS DE SEGURIDAD IMPORTANTES ADVERTENCIA Mantener la unidad, el tubo y el cable del nebulizador alejados de superficies calientes o calentadas, incluyendo calentadores de ambientes, mantas eléctricas, estufas y aparatos eléctricos similares. NO ingrese objetos en la manguera y aberturas. NO utilice el producto mientras duerme o cuando se encuentra somnoliento. NO bloquee las aberturas de aire ni coloque el producto sobre una superficie blanda (como una cama o sillón) para evitar bloqueos. El nebulizador por compresor Stratos utiliza el aire circundante para administrar la medicación prescripta a través del equipo con eficacia. Tanto el usuario como la persona que administre el tratamiento deben prestar especial atención al entorno para evitar que ingrese aire contaminado en el sistema nebulizador por compresor. Las siguientes situaciones también pueden ser ocasionadas por la baja tensión eléctrica: • El motor no alcanza la velocidad o potencia máximas. • Los fusibles o disyuntores se activan al encender el compresor. • Las luces pierden intensidad al encender el compresor. • Otros equipos a motor no funcionan correctamente, o hay demasiados equipos a motor conectados en el mismo circuito. Cables prolongadores Verifique el estado del cable prolongador. Asegúrese de que el cable prolongador cuente con los siguientes calibres MÍNIMOS: 18 para un cable de 25 pies (7, 62 m). En caso de reenviar el producto con una empresa de transporte público, utilice la misma caja. Desembalaje 1. Verifique la existencia de daños en la caja o su contenido. De detectar daños, NO utilice el producto; comuníquese con la empresa de transporte, Invacare o su distribuidor local. 2. Retire el material de embalaje. 3. Retire cuidadosamente todas las piezas. A fin de evitar el desgaste prematuro del compresor, evite el uso del producto en ambientes con alto contenido de polvo. Antes de utilizar este dispositivo, revise la etiqueta que se encuentra en la parte inferior para asegurarse de que los valores de voltaje y frecuencia son correctos. NOTA: Limpie y desinfecte el nebulizador y la boquilla antes de utilizar la unidad por primera vez. Limpieza y desinfección en la página 50. Montaje NOTA: Para obtener información acerca de este procedimiento, consulte la FIGURA 5.1 page 47. 1. Coloque la unidad sobre una mesa u otra superficie plana y estable. Cerciórese de que puede alcanzar los controles fácilmente estando sentado. Gírelo suavemente para separar las dos secciones. 3. Controle que el embudo esté correctamente ubicado en el sector inferior del nebulizador. PRECAUCIÓN NO exceda la capacidad máxima de seis ml de medicamento en la taza. 4. Utilice un gotero, ampolla o dosificador para introducir la cantidad indicada de medicamento. 5. Gire suavemente las secciones superior e inferior para unir el nebulizador. Controle que queden firmes. ADVERTENCIA En caso de niveles de humedad elevados, podría producirse condensación en el interior de la manguera. Haga funcionar la unidad durante dos minutos antes de conectarla al nebulizador. 8. Una la boquilla con la parte superior del nebulizador. NOTA: Antes de encender la unidad en frío, debe alcanzar temperatura ambiente en un lugar calefaccionado. 9. Con el interruptor apagado, conecte el cable a un tomacorrientes. Part No 1130203 47 Stratos™Compact SECTION 5—INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN PRECAUCIÓN Este dispositivo es para uso intermitente: 30 min. encendido / 30 min. apagado. De no funcionar dentro de estos límites, podrían producirse daños irreparables en la unidad. Tratamiento NOTA: Para obtener información acerca de este procedimiento, consulte la FIGURE 5.2. 1. Encienda la unidad colocando el botón ON/OFF en la posición “‐”. 2. Coloque la boquilla entre sus dientes, cierre la boca e incline el nebulizador hacia usted (FIGURE 5.2). FIGURE 5.2 Uso del nebulizador 3. A medida que fluya el aerosol, inhale suave y profundamente y contenga la respiración durante 10 segundos. A continuación, exhale lentamente por la boquilla. NOTA: Si necesita descansar durante el tratamiento, coloque el nebulizador en el lugar para el nebulizador localizado sobre el compresor. Part No 1130203 49 Stratos™Compact SECTION 6—LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN SECTION 6—LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN Siga las instrucciones de limpieza luego de cada uso para evitar que, al secarse, los restos de medicamentos afecten la eficacia de la nebulización. Se recomienda que cada vez que use el nebulizador y la boquilla reutilizables, los lave bien con agua caliente y una vez finalizado el último tratamiento del día, con un detergente suave. Asimismo, desinfecte diariamente estas piezas con una solución de agua y vinagre o un desinfectante de venta comercial. Si su médico o terapeuta respiratorio indican un procedimiento de limpieza diferente, siga sus instrucciones. Limpieza del gabinete exterior ADVERTENCIA Desenchufe la unidad antes de proceder a su limpieza. NO sumerja la unidad en agua. Limpie el gabinete exterior con un paño húmedo. PELIGRO NO retire la caja exterior de esta unidad. Si lo hace, existe un peligro grave de descarga eléctrica. Todo el desmontaje y el mantenimiento de esta unidad DEBE ser realizado por un técnico calificado. Stratos™Compact 50 Part No 1130203 SECTION 6—LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN Limpieza del nebulizador ADVERTENCIA A fin de evitar riesgos de infección por contaminación, tenga en cuenta las siguientes instrucciones: • Limpie el nebulizador antes de utilizarlo por primera vez. • Limpie el nebulizador luego de cada tratamiento. • Utilice SIEMPRE una solución de limpieza preparada recientemente. • NO utilice un paño para secar los componentes del nebulizador. NOTA: Si su médico y / o el distribuidor de los productos Invacare le indican un procedimiento de limpieza específico, siga sus recomendaciones. De lo contrario, siga las instrucciones que se mencionan a continuación: 1. Retire el nebulizador y la boquilla de la manguera. 2. Abra la cámara del nebulizador realizando un giro en sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj. 3. Prepare dos tazones o recipientes plásticos para realizar las siguientes operaciones: A. Lavado: utilice una solución de agua caliente y detergente. B. Enjuague: utilice una solución de agua caliente y vinagre (una parte de vinagre por cada tres partes de agua). 4. Lave minuciosamente el nebulizador y la boquilla en la solución de agua y detergente. 5. Retire las piezas de la solución y enjuáguelas con agua potable caliente. Part No 1130203 51 Stratos™Compact SECTION 6—LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN 6. Sumerja las piezas en la solución de agua caliente y vinagre durante 30 minutos. 7. Enjuáguelas nuevamente con agua potable caliente y déjelas secar. NOTA: Si utiliza un desinfectante medicinal, siga detenidamente las instrucciones del fabricante. 8. Utilice un paño seco para limpiar regularmente la superficie exterior de la manguera y mantenerla libre de polvo. NOTA: El interior de la manguera no requiere ningún tipo de limpieza, dado que sólo la atraviesa aire filtrado. Cambio de nebulizador El nebulizador debe ser utilizado por un único paciente. El nebulizador DEBE reemplazarse luego de largos períodos de inactividad o en caso de obstruirse con medicación seca, polvo u otros elementos. Si se lo somete a un uso normal, el nebulizador reutilizable tiene una vida útil de seis meses a un año. El nebulizador descartable tiene una vida útil de 30 días. por lo que se recomienda contar siempre con uno adicional. Limpieza del compresor PRECAUCIÓN Desenchufe la unidad antes de proceder a su limpieza. NO sumerja la unidad en agua. NO utilice limpiadores abrasivos. Stratos™Compact 52 Part No 1130203 SECTION 6—LIMPIEZA Y DESINFECCIÓN 1. Limpie el gabinete de la unidad principal todos los días con un paño suave humedecido con agua o un detergente suave. 2. Limpie el gabinete y séquelo de inmediato con un paño suave. Limpieza de la boquilla 1. Hierva la boquilla en agua durante un máximo de cinco minutos o esterilice con un autoclave a un máximo de 121° C durante diez minutos. 2. Deje secar la boquilla. 3. Lʹutilisateur et lʹadministrateur doivent prendre connaissance du milieu environnant afin de sʹassurer quʹil nʹy a pas dʹair contaminé filtré à travers le système de nébuliseur à compresseur. (Par exemple, de lʹair contaminé par des vapeurs de peinture ou de produit nettoyant, de lʹherbicide, des gaz dʹéchappement de voiture, etc.) NE PAS utiliser le système de nébuliseur à compresseur Stratos dans de tels environnements, sans quoi des blessures corporelles graves peuvent se produire. On peut aussi suspecter une basse tension lorsque: • Le moteur n’atteint pas la pleine puissance ou vitesse. • Les fusibles ou les disjoncteurs de la maison se déclenchent lorsque le compresseur est mis en marche. • L’intensité des lumières faiblit ou demeure faible lorsque le compresseur est mis en marche. • D’autres appareils électriques fonctionnent mal ou il y a trop d’appareils électriques branchés sur le même circuit. Rallonges Vérifier que la rallonge est en bon état. Vérifier que le fil de la rallonge possède un calibre d’AU MOINS 18 pour une longueur de 25 pieds. Si cet appareil doit être réexpédié par un transporteur courant, il doit être emballé dans le même carton. Déballage 1. Rechercher tout dommage visible du carton ou de son contenu. En cas de dommage visible, NE PAS utiliser. Informer le transporteur, Invacare ou le revendeur Invacare local. 2. Retirer du carton tous les matériaux d’emballage. 3. Retirer minutieusement tous les composants du carton. REMARQUE: Conserver le carton et les matériaux d’emballage pour expédier l’unité ou la stocker jusqu’au moment de son utilisation. Inspection 1. Éviter d’utiliser cet appareil dans un environnement poussiéreux, sans quoi une usure prématurée du compresseur pourrait être observée. Avant d’utiliser cet appareil, vérifiez l’étiquette en dessous pour vous assurer que tension et fréquence soient correctes. REMARQUE: Nettoyer et désinfecter le nébuliseur et l’embout buccal avant d’utiliser le dispositif pour la première fois. Se référer à Nettoyage et désinfection de la page 82. Fonctionnement REMARQUE: Pour cette procédure, se référer à la FIGURE 5.1 page 79. 1. Placer l’appareil sur une table ou toute autre surface plane et stable. S’assurer que les commandes seront facilement accessibles en position assise. Tourner doucement le nébuliseur pour le séparer en deux parties. 3. S’assurer que l’entonnoir d’aspiration est en place dans la partie inférieure du nébuliseur. ATTENTION NE PAS ajouter plus de six mL de médicament dans le gobelet pour médicament. La capacité maximale du gobelet du nébuliseur est de six mL de médicament. 4. 5. Ajouter la quantité prescrite de médicament dans le gobelet du nébuliseur à l’aide d’un compte‐goutte, d’une dose prémesurée ou d’une ampoule. Tourner doucement les parties inférieure et supérieure ensembles pour recomposer le nébuliseur. S’assurer que les deux parties sont bien ajustées. Stratos™ Compact 78 Part No 1130203 SECTION 5—INSTRUCTIONS POUR LE FONCTIONNEMENT Compte-goutte Gobelet du nébuliseur FIGURE 5.1 Ajout du médicament 6. Fixer une extrémité de la tubulure pneumatique au connecteur de la tubulure pneumatique situé à l’avant du compresseur. 7. Fixer l’autre extrémité de la tubulure pneumatique à la base du nébuliseur. MISE EN GARDE En cas de forte humidité, de la condensation peut se former à l’intérieur de la tubulure. Faire tourner l’unité pendant deux minutes avant de connecter le nébuliseur à la tubulure. 8. Fixer l’embout buccal sur la partie supérieure du nébuliseur. REMARQUE: Avant de mettre en marche une unité froide, laisser l’unité atteindre la température ambiante dans une zone chauffée. 9. Avec le moteur arrêté, brancher le cordon d’alimentation dans une prise électrique appropriée. Part No 1130203 79 Stratos™ Compact SECTION 5—INSTRUCTIONS POUR LE FONCTIONNEMENT ATTENTION Le dispositif est destiné à un usage intermittent: 30 min MARCHE/30 min ARRÊT. Le non respect de ces limites de fonctionnement pourrait endommager le dispositif sans possibilité de réparation. Instructions pour le traitement REMARQUE: Pour cette procédure, se référer à la FIGURE 5.2. 1. Allumer l’unité en appuyant sur le commutateur MARCHE / ARRÊT pour le mettre en position « ‐ ». 2. Placer l’embout buccal entre les dents, fermer la bouche et incliner le nébuliseur vers la bouche (FIGURE 5.2). FIGURE 5.2 Utilisation du nébuliseur 3. Lorsque l’aérosol commence à s’écouler, inspirer profondément, lentement, et retenir sa respiration pendant dix secondes. Puis expirer lentement à travers l’embout buccal. REMARQUE: Si vous devez vous reposer pendant le traitement, placez le nébuliseur sur sa station dʹaccueil située sur le compresseur. REMARQUE: Serrer les bouchons sur les réservoirs de médicament. Lorsque le traitement est terminé, éteindre l’unité en mettant le commutateur en position « O » et débrancher l’unité de la prise électrique. 5. Avant de ranger les fournitures entre les traitements, nettoyer et sécher le nébuliseur et ses accessoires. Se référer à Nettoyage et désinfection de la page 82. Part No 1130203 81 Stratos™ Compact SECTION 6—NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION SECTION 6—NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION Suivre les instructions de nettoyage après chaque utilisation pour empêcher que du médicament restant ne sèche et ne rende l’action du nébuliseur inefficace. Il est recommandé de rincer abondamment le nébuliseur réutilisable et l’embout buccal à l’eau chaude du robinet après chaque utilisation et de les nettoyer à l’aide d’un détergent doux après le dernier traitement de la journée. Les mêmes pièces DOIVENT également être désinfectées chaque jour par trempage dans de l’eau vinaigrée ou un désinfectant acheté dans le commerce. Si votre médecin ou un thérapeute respiratoire vous indique une procédure de nettoyage différente, il convient de suivre leurs instructions. Nettoyage du boîtier extérieur MISE EN GARDE Débrancher l’unité avant le nettoyage. NE PAS plonger dans l’eau pour le nettoyage. Nettoyer le boîtier externe avec un chiffon humide. Stratos™ Compact 82 Part No 1130203 SECTION 6—NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION DANGER N’enlevez PAS le boîtier extérieur de cet ensemble. Enlever ce boîtier présente un risque sérieux d’électrocution. Tout démontage et entretien de cet ensemble DOIT ETRE accompli par un technicien qualifié. Nettoyage du nébuliseur MISE EN GARDE Pour prévenir tout risque possible d’infection par contamination, suivre ces instructions: • Nettoyer le nébuliseur avant les premières mises en marche. • Nettoyer le nébuliseur après chaque traitement aérosol. • TOUJOURS utiliser une solution de nettoyage fraîche. • NE PAS essuyer les composants du nébuliseur avec un chiffon après le nettoyage. REMARQUE: Votre médecin et (ou) un revendeur Invacare peuvent indiquer certaines procédures de nettoyage. Si c’est le cas, suivre leurs recommandations. Démonter la chambre du nébuliseur en tournant dans le sens contraire des aiguilles d’une montre et en la séparant. 3. Remplir deux récipients ou bols en plastique : A. Lavage : solution d’eau chaude et de détergent. B. Trempage : solution d’eau chaude et de vinaigre (un volume de vinaigre pour trois volumes d’eau). 4. Bien nettoyer le nébuliseur et l’embout buccal dans la solution d’eau chaude et de détergent. 5. Sortir de la solution d’eau et de détergent et rincer à l’eau chaude claire du robinet. 6. Laisser tremper dans une solution d’eau chaude et de vinaigre pendant 30 minutes. 7. Rincer de nouveau à l’eau chaude du robinet et sécher complètement à l’air. REMARQUE: En cas d’utilisation de nettoyants désinfectant médicaux, suivre scrupuleusement les instructions du fabricant. 8. Éliminer la poussière de la surface externe de la tubulure en l’essuyant régulièrement. REMARQUE: Il n’est pas nécessaire de laver l’intérieur de la tubulure pneumatique car seul de l’air filtré passe dans la tubulure. Changement de nébuliseur Le nébuliseur est conçu pour être utilisé par un seul patient. Stratos™ Compact 84 Part No 1130203 SECTION 6—NETTOYAGE ET DÉSINFECTION Le nébuliseur DOIT être remplacé après une longue période d’inutilisation ou lorsqu’il est obstrué par du médicament séché, de la poussière, etc. Le nébuliseur réutilisable doit durer de six mois à un an en usage général. Le nébuliseur jetable doit durer 30 jours. Concernant le nébuliseur jetable, il est recommandé de toujours disposer d’un nébuliseur de rechange. Nettoyage du compresseur ATTENTION Débrancher l’unité avant le nettoyage. NE PAS plonger dans l’eau pour le nettoyage. NE PAS utiliser de produits abrasifs pour le nettoyage. 1. Nettoyer chaque jour le boîtier de l’unité principale à l’aide d’un chiffon doux humidifié avec de l’eau ou un détergent doux. 2. Essuyer le boîtier et sécher immédiatement à l’aide d’un chiffon doux et propre. Nettoyage de l’embout buccal 1. Faire bouillir l’embout buccal dans l’eau pendant cinq minutes maximum ou passer à l’autoclave à 121 °C maximum pendant dix minutes. 2. Laisser sécher l’embout buccal à l’air. 3. Une fois sec, l’embout buccal peut être rangé à l’intérieur du couvercle du nébuliseur. Part No 1130203 85 Stratos™ Compact SECTION 7—ENTRETIEN SECTION 7—ENTRETIEN DANGER N’enlevez PAS le boîtier extérieur de cet ensemble. Enlever ce boîtier présente un risque sérieux d’électrocution. Tout démontage et entretien de cet ensemble DOIT ETRE accompli par un technicien qualifié. Entretien habituel Afin de garder le dispositif en parfait état et de protéger l’unité contre tout dommage, suivre ces directives : • NE PAS soumettre le dispositif ou les pièces détachées à des chocs violents tels que la chute du dispositif sur le sol. • NE PAS stocker le dispositif dans un endroit où il règne une température extrême, un haut taux d’humidité, ou à la lumière directe du soleil. • NE PAS enrouler le cordon autour du dispositif lors du rangement. • Ranger le nébuliseur dans un endroit sûr et sec où il ne sera pas écrasé, plié et loin de toutes sources pouvant lʹendommager. • Ranger le cordon dans un endroit sûr où il ne sera pas coupé ou endommagé. Stockage 1. Sʹassurer que le nébuliseur est hors tension et que le cordon est débranché de la prise murale avant de le ranger. 2. Ranger le dispositif remballé dans un endroit sûr et sec. NE PAS déposer d’autres objets sur le dispositif remballé.
