replace carafe within 30 seconds of removing during brewing process.

NOTES ON ThE COrD

The provided short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord) should be

used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer

cord. Do not use an extension cord with this product. Always plug directly into a wall

outlet/receptacle.

NOTES ON ThE PLUG

This product has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk

of electric shock, this plug will t in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does

not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not t, contact a qualied

electrician. Never use with an extension cord unless plug can be fully inserted.

Do not alter the plug.

PLASTICIZEr WArNING

CAUTION: To prevent Plasticizers from migrating to the nish of the counter top or

table top or other furniture, place NON-PLASTIC coasters or place mats between the

appliance and the nish of the counter top or table top. Failure to do so may cause the

If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, your appliance may not

operate properly. It should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other

CArAFE SAFETY PrECAUTIONS

1. Do not use a cracked carafe or any carafe with a loose or weakened handle.

2. This carafe is designed to be used only on the warming plate of your Coffee Maker.

Do not use in a conventional oven.

3. To avoid breakage, handle carafe with care. Avoid impact. Glass will break as

a result of impact. Use care when ﬁlling with water to avoid hitting faucet.

4. Do not place hot carafe on cool or wet surface. Allow carafe to cool before washing

or adding liquids.

5. Do not set empty carafe on a hot heating surface. Do not clean with steel wool

pads, abrasive cleanser, or any other materials that may scratch.

6. Do not bump or scratch the carafe. Remove carafe from the warming plate

to avoid burning or scorching. Never operate the Coffee Maker with a carafe

that has boiled dry.

7. Discard carafe if it is cracked, scratched, or heated while empty for an extended

period of time.

COFFEE YIELD

12 Cup Coffee Maker: 12 (5 oz.) cups

NOTE: A 5-oz.cup is the American industry standard and is used by most Coffee Maker

manufacturers. To fill your favorite over-sized mug, fill Coffee Maker reservoir with enough

water for 3 to 4 cups (15 to 20 ounces).

1. After approximately 2 cups of coffee have been brewed, the carafe may be slowly

removed and the coffee will stop dripping.

2. The ﬂow valve is located on the bottom of the ﬁlter holder and is activated when

the carafe is removed. (See Figure 1.) This design makes it possible for you to

remove the carafe and pour a cup of coffee before the entire carafe is brewed.

IMPORTANT: When replacing the ﬁlter holder, the ﬂow valve must be properly

inserted into the front hole of the machine, so that it can be seen as it sits on

the top of the carafe lid. (See Figure 1.)

3. When using this feature, make sure that the carafe is replaced under the ﬁlter holder

within 30 seconds to prevent overﬂow.

Gourmet strength coffee

The gourmet setting adjusts the brewing cycle of a full pot of coffee to extract a higher

percent of solubles. This results in a more avorful pot of coffee.

Bold strength coffee

The Bold setting adjusts the brewing cycle of a full pot of coffee, allowing more time

for the coffee to “steep” to extract further oils and avor from the coffee bean.

This results in a bolder tasting pot of coffee

1-4 cup brew cycle

Automatically adjusts the brewing process for maximum avor when brewing small

quantities. Ideal for brewing 1 to 4 cups of coffee.

* If 12 cups of water are poured into the water tank then 12 cups of coffee will brew.

Auto shut off

2 hours after the brewing cycle has stopped the unit will automatically turn the heating

element off.

BrEWING A SECOND CArAFE OF COFFEE

1. To brew another carafe of coffee, press the START button to turn the Coffee Maker

OFF. Remove plug from wall outlet. It is recommended that the Coffee Maker be

OFF and allowed to cool for 15 minutes between cycles.

CAUTION: Failure to allow Coffee Maker to cool sufﬁciently could cause hot steam

and spray when the water is added to the water reservoir. The hot steam can cause

severe burns.

2. Lift the Coffee Maker lid. Unfold the handle, lift and remove the permanent coffee

ﬁlter; discard used coffee grounds, rinse.

3. Lift the removable ﬁlter holder up and out of the Coffee Maker.

4. Rinse the glass carafe and removable ﬁlter holder in cool, clean water.

IMPORTANT: Before brewing a second carafe, always check to make sure

water level is past the MIN line; add the desired amount of cold tap water into

the water reservoir.

5. Place empty carafe on the warming plate.

6. Place the permanent ﬁlter in the removable ﬁlter holder. Measure 2 level

tablespoons of drip or regular grind coffee for each cup of coffee desired.

7. Place the ﬁlter holder down into the housing. Close the lid.

8. Plug Coffee Maker into a 120V AC electrical wall outlet.

9. Press the START button. Brewing will begin.

hINTS FOr GrEAT TASTING COFFEE

• A clean Coffee Maker is essential for making great tasting coffee. Regular cleaning,

as described in the Care & Cleaning Instructions and Descaling sections of this

Instruction Manual is highly recommended.

• Always use fresh, cold water in your Coffee Maker.

• Finer grinds, such as drip coffee, promote fuller extraction and provide rich,

full-bodied coffee. Regular grind will require slightly more coffee per cup to provide

the strength of a ﬁner grind.

• Store coffee in a cool, dry place. Once coffee has been opened, keep it tightly

sealed in the refrigerator to maintain freshness.

• For optimum coffee ﬂavor, buy whole beans and grind them ﬁnely just before

brewing.

• Do not re-use coffee grounds since this will greatly impair coffee ﬂavor.

• Reheating coffee is not recommended. Coffee is at its peak ﬂavor immediately

after brewing.

• Small oil droplets on the surface of brewed, black coffee is due to the extraction

of oil from the coffee grounds. Oiliness may occur more frequently if heavily roasted

coffees are used. Overextraction may also cause oiliness, indicating a need to clean

your Coffee Maker.

USEr MAINTENANCE INSTrUCTIONS

This appliance requires little maintenance. It contains no user-serviceable parts.

Any servicing requiring disassembly other than cleaning must be performed by

a qualied appliance repair technician.

CArE & CLEANING INSTrUCTIONS

1. Always make sure Coffee Maker is unplugged and the warming plate is cool before

attempting to clean.

2. After every use, remove the permanent coffee ﬁlter, discard used coffee grounds,

rinse thoroughly.

3. Wash the removable ﬁlter holder and glass carafe in hot, sudsy water. If necessary,

scrub the inside of the carafe lid with a soaped kitchen brush.

WARNING: To avoid breakage, handle carafe with care. Avoid impact. Glass will

break as a result of impact. Use care when ﬁlling with water to avoid hitting faucet.

4. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth to remove superﬁcial stains. For stubborn

stains, use a nylon or plastic pad with a non-abrasive cleanser. Do not use metal

scouring pads or abrasive cleansers.

5. Dry and replace disassembled parts. Make sure the removable ﬁlter holder drops

down and is properly seated into the housing.

6. Close the lid.

AUTO CLEAN

We recommend cleaning your coffeemaker once a month.

IMPORTANT: Remove the water lter holder before activating the AUTO CLEAN.

1. Combine 6 cups of white vinegar and 4 cups of cold water in carafe.

2. Pour into water reservoir.

3. Place an 8 to 12 cup cupcake style paper ﬁlter in the removable ﬁlter basket. Insert

ﬁlter basket into ﬁlter basket holder and close lid.

4. Make sure the lid of the carafe is in place and place the empty carafe on the keep

10. NO coloque la jarra en un horno de microondas.

CANASTA DEL FILTrO DE CAFÉ PErMANENTE

La canasta del ﬁltro de café permanente reemplaza a los ﬁltros de papel desechables.

Simplemente coloque la canasta del ﬁltro de café permanente en el soporte de la

canasta del ﬁltro extraíble. Levante el mango y utilícelo para retirar la canasta con los

CONSEJOS PArA LOGrAr UN CAFÉ SUMAMENTE DELICIOSO

• Para lograr un café sumamente delicioso es crucial que la cafetera esté limpia.

Se recomienda fervientemente realizar una limpieza periódica, según describen

las Instrucciones de cuidado y limpieza y la sección de Desincrustación de este

Manual de instrucciones.

• Siempre use agua fresca y fría en su cafetera.

• La molienda más ﬁna, como el café de ﬁltro y el café de goteo automático,

contribuye a una extracción más completa y brinda un café más rico y concentrado.

La molienda común requerirá un poco más de café por taza para obtener

la intensidad de una molienda más ﬁna.

• Guarde el café en un lugar fresco y seco. Una vez abierto, mantenga el envase

de café cerrado herméticamente en el refrigerador para conservar la frescura.

• Para que el café tenga un sabor óptimo, compre granos enteros y tritúrelos

en pedacitos justo antes de comenzar la elaboración.

• No vuelva a usar los granos de café molidos, ya que aplacará signiﬁcativamente

el sabor del café.

• No se recomienda recalentar el café. El sabor del café alcanza su punto ideal

inmediatamente luego de la elaboración.

• Las gotitas de aceite que aparecen en la superﬁcie del café negro elaborado

se deben a la extracción de aceite de los granos de café molidos. La oleosidad

puede ocurrir más frecuentemente si se usan granos de café muy tostados.

La extracción en exceso también puede generar oleosidad, lo que indica que

debe limpiar la cafetera.

INSTrUCCIONES DE MANTENIMIENTO PArA EL USUArIO

Este aparato requiere de poco mantenimiento. No contiene piezas que el usuario pueda

reparar. Cualquier servicio en el que la unidad deba desarmarse, con la excepción de la

limpieza, debe realizarlo un técnico de reparación de aparatos eléctricos calicado.

INSTrUCCIONES DE CUIDADO Y LIMPIEZA

1. Procure siempre que la cafetera esté desenchufada y que la placa de calentamiento

se haya enfriado antes de intentar limpiarlas.

2. Después de cada uso, quite el ﬁltro permanente para café, deseche los granos

de café molido usados y enjuague minuciosamente.

3. Lave el soporte de ﬁltro desmontable y la garrafa de vidrio con agua caliente

y jabón. Si es necesario, restriegue la parte interior de la tapa de la garrafa con

un cepillo de cocina con jabón.

ADVERTENCIA: Para evitar roturas, manipule la garrafa con cuidado. Evite los

impactos. Si sufre un impacto, el vidrio se romperá. Tenga cuidado de no golpear

el grifo cuando llene la garrafa con agua.

4. Limpie el exterior con un paño húmedo para eliminar las manchas superﬁciales.

Para las manchas difíciles, use una almohadilla de nilón o plástico con un limpiador

no abrasivo. No use esponjas metálicas abrasivas ni limpiadores abrasivos.

5. Seque las piezas desarmadas y vuelva a colocarlas. Procure que el soporte de ﬁltro

desmontable se desplace hacia abajo y esté correctamente colocado en la carcasa.

6. Cierre la tapa.

DESCALCIFICACIóN

Se recomienda hacer una limpieza especial a su cafetera al menos una vez al mes,

de acuerdo con la frecuencia de uso y la calidad de agua que se usa en la unidad.

Si el agua de su zona es especialmente dura, debe realizar el siguiente procedimiento

de limpieza cada 2 semanas, ya que los minerales presentes en el agua pueden aplacar

el sabor del café y, probablemente, extender el tiempo de elaboración.

1. Llene la garrafa con 1 medida de vinagre blanco por 3 medidas de agua fría.

Vierta la solución de agua y vinagre en el depósito de agua

2. Prepare la solución de vinagre hasta que la garrafa esté medio llena.

NOTA: Durante la limpieza, saldrá más vapor que durante el ciclo de elaboración

de café normal.

3. Mantenga presionado el botón START para apagar la cafetera. Cuando el líquido

deje de gotear del soporte de ﬁltro a la garrafa, quite la garrafa y deje que el líquido

se enfríe durante 15 minutos. Una vez que la tapa se enfríe, levántela y vierta

el líquido nuevamente en el depósito de agua.

4. Cierre la tapa. Vuelva a colocar la garrafa en la placa de calentamiento.

5. PREPARE LA SOLUCIÓN DE VINAGRE nuevamente, y permita que la solución

de limpieza en su totalidad caiga dentro la garrafa. Al ﬁnalizar el goteo,

deseche el contenido de la garrafa.

6. Deje que la cafetera se enfríe durante 15 minutos y prepare una garrafa llena de

agua fría para enjuagar la cafetera. Introduzca el ﬁltro permanente para café limpio

en el soporte de ﬁltro desmontable antes de comenzar la elaboración.

7. Al ﬁnalizar el ciclo de elaboración, mantenga presionado el botón START para

apagar la cafetera. Deseche el agua de la garrafa. Lave la garrafa, el ﬁltro

permanente para café y el soporte de ﬁltro desmontable con agua caliente y jabón.

Seque las piezas completamente.

8. Cuando la cafetera se haya enfriado, limpie el exterior con un paño seco.

INSTrUCCIONES DE ALMACENAMIENTO

1. Desenchufe la unidad y deje que se enfríe.

2. Guarde la cafetera en su caja o en un lugar fresco y seco.

3. Nunca almacene la unidad si está caliente o enchufada.
