you to assemble and maintain your unit properly. Always observe

Safe Operation Practices for Riding Vehicles
As Recommended by American National Standards Institute
WARNING: This cutting machine is capable of amputating hands and feet and throwing objects. Failure to observe the
following safety instructions could result in serious injury or death to the operator or bystanders.
GENERAL OPERATION:
1. Read, understand and follow all instructions in the Instruction
Book, on the machine, the engine and with any attachments
before starting.
2. Only allow responsible adults familiar with the instructions to
operate the machine.
3. Clear the area of objects such as rocks, toys, wire, etc.
which could be picked up and thrown by the blade.
4. Be sure the area is clear of other people before mowing.
Stop the machine if anyone enters the area.
5. Never carry passengers.
6. Disengage power to the mower or any attachments before
backing up. Do not mow in reverse unless absolutely neces-
sary. Always look down and behind before and while back-
ing.
7. Be aware of the direction the mower discharges. Do not point
discharge from the mower at anyone or at places where
people may be. Do not operate the mower without either the
entire grass bagger or the mower guard in place.
8. Slow down before turning.
9. Never leave a machine unattended with the engine running.
Always disengage the blade(s), set the parking brake, stop
the engine and remove the key before dismounting.
10. Disengage power to attachment(s) when transporting or not
in use. Disengage the blade(s) when not mowing.
11. Stop the engine before removing the grass bagger or unclog-
ging the chute.
12. Mow only in daylight or good artificial light.
13. Do not operate the machine while under the influence of al-
cohol or drugs or when very tired.
14. Watch for traffic when operating near or crossing roadways.
15. Use extra caution when loading or unloading the machine
when using a trailer or truck for transporting.
16. Disengage all attachment clutches and shift into Neutral be-
fore attempting to start the engine.
17. Always wear safety glasses or an eye shield when you oper-
ate the unit to protect your eyes from foreign objects that can
be thrown from the unit. Always wear eye protection when
you make an adjustment or repair to the machine.
18. Use care when pulling loads or using heavy equipment.
a. Use only approved drawbar hitch points.
b. Limit loads to those you can safely control.
c. Do not turn sharply. Use care when backing.
d. Use counterweights or wheel weights when suggested in
the Instruction Book.
19. Do not operate this machine if you are taking drugs or other
medication which can cause drowsiness or affect your ability
to operate this machine.
20. Do not use this machine if you are mentally or physically
unable to operate this machine safely.
21. Data indicates that operators, age 60 years and above, are
involved in a large percentage of riding mower related inju-
ries. These operators should evaluate their ability to operate
a riding mower safely enough to protect themselves and oth-
ers from serious injury.
SLOPE OPERATION:
Slopes and rough terrain are major factors related to loss of
control and tip over accidents which can result in severe
injury or death. ALL slopes require extra caution. If you can-
not back up the slope or if you feel uneasy on the slope, do
not mow it. See the “Slope Guide” in the back of this book to
check for safe operation.
DO
1. Mow up and down slopes, not across.
2. Remove obstacles such as rocks, limbs, etc...
3. Watch for holes, ruts or bumps. Uneven terrain could over-
turn the machine. “Tall grass can hide obstacles.”
4. Use slow speed. Choose a low enough gear so that you will
not have to stop or shift while on the slope.
5. Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for wheel
weights or counterweights to improve stability.
6. Use extra care with grass baggers or other attachments,
they can change the stability of the machine.
7. Keep all movement on the slopes slow and gradual. Do not
make sudden changes in speed or direction.
8. Avoid starting or stopping on a slope. If tires lose traction,
disengage the blades and proceed slowly straight down the
slope.
DO NOT
1. Do not turn on slopes unless absolutely necessary, then
only turn slowly and gradually downhill, if possible.
2. Do not mow near drop–offs, ditches or embankments. A
wheel over the edge or an edge caving in could cause a sud-
den overturn and an injury or death.
3. Do not mow on wet grass. Reduced traction could cause
sliding.
4. Do not try to stabilize the machine by putting your foot on
the ground.
5. Do not use a grass bagger or other rear mounted accesso-
ries on steep slopes (greater than 10 degrees).
CHILDREN:
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the
presence of children. Children are often attracted to the ma-
chine and the mowing activity. NEVER assume that children
will remain where you last saw them.
1. Keep children out of the mowing area and in the watchful
care of an adult other than the operator.

2. Be alert and turn the engine off if children enter the area.
3. Before and when backing, look behind and down for small
children.
4. Never carry children or any passengers. They may fall off
and be seriously injured or interfere with the safe operation
of the machine.
5. Never allow children to operate the machine. Instruct chil-
dren in the dangers of the machine.
6. Use extra care when approaching blind corners, shrubs,
trees or other objects that may obscure vision.
SERVICE:
1. Use extra care when handling gasoline and other fuels.
Fuels are flammable and the vapors are explosive.
a. Use only an approved container.
b. Never remove the gas cap or add fuel with the engine
running. Allow the engine to cool for several minutes before
refueling. Do not smoke.
c. Never refuel the machine indoors.
d. Never store the machine with fuel in the tank or fuel con-
tainer inside where there is an open flame, such as a water
heater.
2. Never start or run the engine inside a closed area.
3. Keep all nuts and bolts, especially the blade attachment nuts
tight. Frequently check the blade(s) for wear or damage such
as cracks and nicks. A blade that is bent or damaged must
be immediately replaced with an original equipment blade
from an authorized service dealer. For safety, replace the
blade every two years. Keep the equipment in good condi-
tion.
4. Never tamper with the safety devices. Check their proper
operation regularly.
5. To reduce fire hazards keep the machine free of grass,
leaves or other debris build–up. Clean up oil or fuel spills.
Allow the machine to cool before storing.
6. Stop and inspect the equipment if you strike an object. Re-
pair, if necessary, before restarting.
7. Never make adjustments or repairs with the engine running.
The carburetor can be adjusted with the engine running. Do
not change the engine governor settings or overspeed the
engine.
8. Grass bagger components are subject to wear, damage and
deterioration, which could expose moving parts or allow ob-
jects to be thrown. For storage, always make sure the grass
bag is empty. Frequently check components and replace with
manufacturer’s recommended parts when necessary.
9. Mower blade(s) are sharp and can cut. Wrap the blade(s) or
wear gloves and use extra caution when servicing them or
the blade housing area.
10. Check the brake operation frequently. Adjust and service as
required.
11. Wait for all movement to stop before servicing any part of the
unit.
Look for this symbol to indicate important safety
precautions. This symbol indicates: “Attention!
Become Alert! Your Safety Is At Risk.”

tions. All fasteners are in the parts bag. Do not discard any parts or
material until the unit is assembled. Layout and identify all parts and
contents.

HOW TO MOUNT THE FRAME ASSEMBLY
IMPORTANT: Note the bolt shown in Figure 1 that was
installed at the factory. Use this bolt to attach the frame
bracket.
1. Mount the frame bracket onto the factory installed bolt
shown in Figure 1.
2. Hold the support bracket on the inside of the frame. Align
the holes in the support bracket with the holes in the frame
and the frame bracket. Fasten with the fasteners shown full
size below. Tighten the fasteners only with your fingers.

3. Carefully follow the procedure below to tighten the fasteners.
This procedure is necessary to lock the frame bracket and
the support bracket in place. See the procedure steps in
Figure 1.
First: Tighten bolt (A), located next to the tire, with a wrench.
Next: Tighten the two bolts (A), located at the back of the frame.
Last: Tighten the top two fasteners.

4. Mount the channel in the frame bracket (Figure 2).
IMPORTANT: If you remove the grass bagger to mount a
different pull–behind attachment, do not remove the
frame bracket. Use the hitch pin hole in the frame
bracket to mount a different attachment.
5. Install the channel pin into the right side of the channel
(Figure 3). Rotate the channel pin counterclockwise to lock
the channel in place.
6. Mount the outer tube to the channel. Make sure the two
holes, on the side of the outer tube, are on the right side
(Figure 3). Use the fasteners shown full size below. Make
sure the fasteners are tight.

7. Mount the center tube to the channel (Figure 4). Make sure
the fasteners are tight.
8. Attach the caps to the ends of the tubes (Figure 4).

HOW TO MOUNT THE COVER
1. Assemble the hinge to the cover (Figure 5). The fasteners
are shown full size below. Push the hinge toward the top of
the cover. Make sure the screws are at the bottom of the
holes in the hinge. Tighten the fasteners.

2. Attach the handle to the cover with the fasteners as shown.
Tighten the fasteners.
3. Attach the window to the cover with the fasteners
(Figure 6). Make sure the flange and the two tabs are
locked inside the cover.

4. Set the cover in the operating position on top of the outer
tube. Fasten the hinge to the channel with the fasteners
shown below.

HOW TO MOUNT THE EXTENSION TUBE
1. Attach latch pin (A) to the extension tube with the fasteners
shown full size below (see Figure 8).

2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Disconnect the wire from the spark plug (see Figure 7).

4. Move the lift lever to the lowest cut position.
5. Raise the deflector (see Figure 8). If a mulch cover is
installed, remove the mulch cover. Use the mulch cover
hardware to attach the extension tube. If a mulch cover is
not installed, use the fasteners in the parts bag.
6. Rotate the blade away from the discharge opening.
WARNING: The blade has sharp edges. Always be
careful of the position of the blade.
7. Slide the tabs of the extension tube bracket under the de-
flector (Figure 8).
8. Slide the extension tube bracket toward the front
(Figure 9). Make sure the tabs on the extension tube
bracket lock behind the nuts (Figure 10).
9. Move the lift lever to the highest cut position.
10. Attach the bottom of the extension tube to the mower hous-
ing with the fasteners shown full size below.

a. First, install bolt (D) to the front of the extension tube.
Fasten with wingnut (E) on the outside (Figure 10).
Make sure the wingnut is tight.
b. Next, reach through the extension tube. Install bolt (D)
to the rear of the extension tube. Fasten with wingnut
(E). Push the back of the extension tube until bolt (D) is
at the top of the slot. Tighten wingnut (E).
11. Connect the wire to the spark plug.

1. Assemble the handle and the to the connector tube with
the fasteners (see Figure 11). Hold screws (C) and (D) with a
short screwdriver and tighten locknuts (E).
2. Attach the rubber latch to the handle with nut (B) (see
Figure 11).
3. Align the two holes in the connector tube with the hole on
the elbow. Slide the connector tube into the elbow until the
second line on the decal is even with the edge of the elbow.
4. Fasten the elbow to the connector tube with screw (A).
Push screw (A) through the hole on the elbow. Tighten
screw (A) until the head of the screw touches the elbow.
5. Move the lift lever to the lowest position.
6. Hold the handle on the connector tube and push the elbow
into the hole in the cover (Figure 12).
7. Align the rubber latch with the latch pin (Figure 13).
8. Slide the connector tube over the extension tube.
9. Lock the rubber latch to the latch pin.

HOW TO ASSEMBLE THE CONTAINERS
NOTE: The containers can only be assembled one way.
Carefully read and follow the instructions below.
1. Separate the six container sections into two groups. Each
group will have a top section, a middle section, and a bottom
section (Figure 14).
2. Look for a number on the side of each top section. The num-
bers for the two top sections are 1 and 3. Set the two top sec-
tions on the ground with the flanges on top.
3. Look for the numbers on the side of each middle section. One
middle section has the numbers 1 – 2. The other middle sec-
tion has the numbers 3 and 4.
4. Set middle section 1 – 2 inside of top section 1.
5. Set middle section 3 – 4 inside of top section 3.
6. Look for a number on the side of each bottom section. The
numbers for the two bottom sections are 2 and 4.
7. Set bottom section 2 inside of middle section 1 – 2.
8. Set bottom section 4 inside of middle section 3 – 4.
9. Stand with one foot inside the three sections (Figure 15). Lift
the top section until all three sections connect together. Make
sure all four corners of each section are locked together.
10. Fasten the top section and the middle section of each con-
tainer together with four fasteners A shown below. From the in-
side of each container, push the fasteners through the holes
(Figure 16).

1. Tilt the seat forward. Raise the cover (Figure 17).
2. If desired, put the optional plastic bag linings in the
containers.
3. Slide the containers onto the frame tubes. Make sure the
CAUTION, on the side of the containers, is to the rear.
4. Lower the cover. To lock the cover in place, pull back on the
handle, push the cover down and release the handle.
IMPORTANT: For the grass bagger to work correctly, the
cover must be locked in the down position. Figure 17

HOW TO INSTALL THE FRONT WEIGHT
1. To find the mounting location for the weight brackets, look
under the frame at the square holes (Figure 18). Lock the
tabs on the weight brackets in the square holes. Fasten-
ers are not required.
2. Set the front weight on the weight brackets.
3. Fill the front weight with sand. Install the plug.
CAUTION: Removal of the front weight will also require the
removal of the weight brackets.
WARNING: Use the front weight when you operate
on a slope or where the lawn is rough or is not
even.
WARNING: Do not ride up or down slopes that are
too steep to back straight up. Never ride the unit
across a slope. See the “Slope Guide” in the back
of this book for information on how to check

CONTAINER LININGS
Plastic bag linings are optional accessories that can be used for
easy removal of the grass. Use one of the following sizes.

HIGH–LIFT BLADE
There are several different types of grass. Some types of grass
make filling the bag more difficult. A high–lift blade is included
with the grass bagger. If the bag does not fill properly, replace the
standard blade with the high–lift blade. To replace the blade(s),
follow the instructions in the mower instruction book.

WARNING: Do not ride up or down slopes that are too
steep to back straight up. Never ride the unit across
a slope. See the “Slope Guide” in the back of this
book for information on how to check slopes.
OPERATION
To operate with the grass bagger, follow the steps below.
IMPORTANT: Do not cut wet grass. Wet grass will not
discharge correctly into the grass bagger.
1. Start the engine.
2. Move the throttle control to FAST position.
3. Move the shift lever to FIRST (1) position. To fill the containers,
always operate at the slowest speed.
4. If the height of the grass is more than 31/2 inches (9cm), cut the
grass with the mower housing in the highest position. Then,
lower the mower housing and cut the grass again. You can also
cut at 1/2 to 2/3 of the full cutting width of the mower housing.
CHECK AND CLEAN CONNECTOR TUBE
The connector tube is made of clear plastic. If the connector tube
becomes filled with grass, clean the connector tube as follows.
1. Move the attachment clutch to the DISENGAGE position.
2. Move the shift lever to the neutral (N) position.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Disconnect the rubber latch from the extension tube
(Figure 19).
6. Remove the connector tube.
7. Clean the connector tube and the extension tube with soap
and water.
HOW TO EMPTY THE CONTAINERS
Look at the window in the cover (Figure 20). When the containers
are full, grass can be seen through the window. Empty the
containers as follows.
1. Move the attachment clutch to the DISENGAGE position.
2. Move the shift lever to the neutral (N) position.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Stop the engine.
5. Tilt the seat forward.
6. Pull the handle back and raise the cover.
7. Remove the containers.

HOW TO CLEAN THE GRASS BAGGER
WARNING: Before you clean the grass bagger, stop
the engine and disconnect the wire to the spark plug.
For good performance, frequently clean the grass bagger as
follows.
1. Disconnect the rubber latch from the extension tube
(Figure 21).
2. Remove the connector tube from the extension tube.
3. Remove the elbow and connector tube from the cover.

REGLAS DE SEGURIDAD
Prácticas de operación segura para vehículos autoportados
Basadas en las recomendaciones del Instituto de Estándares Nacionales de Estados Unidos de América
PRECAUCION: Esta máquina cortadora es capaz de amputar manos y pies y de lanzar objetos con mucha fuerza. No
respetar las instrucciones de seguridad a continuación podría resultar en lesiones graves o la muerte del operador o
de espectadores.
OPERACIÓN GENERAL:
1. Antes de comenzar el trabajo, lea, entienda y siga todas las
instrucciones que aparecen en el Manual de Instrucciones,
en la máquina, en el motor y en cualquiera de los aditamen-
tos.
2. Sólo permita que adultos responsables, familiarizados con
las instrucciones, utilicen la máquina.
3. Despeje el área de objetos tales como piedras, juguetes,
cables, etc., que podrían ser lanzados con fuerza por la cu-
chilla.
4. Antes de comenzar a cortar el césped, asegúrese de que no
haya ninguna persona en el área. Si alguien entra en el
área, pare de inmediato la máquina.
5. Nunca lleve pasajeros.
6. Antes de retroceder, desconecte la alimentación al cortacés-
ped o a cualquier aditamento que tenga instalado. No corte
el césped en reversa a menos que esto sea absolutamente
necesario. Siempre mire hacia abajo y hacia atrás antes de
retroceder y mientras retrocede.
7. Esté atento a la dirección de descarga de la hierba cortada.
No dirija la descarga hacia personas o hacia lugares donde
pudiera haber gente. No opere la unidad sin tener instalado
el recolector de hierba o el dispositivo de seguridad.
8. Aminore la velocidad antes de dar la vuelta.
9. Nunca deje una máquina desatendida mientras el motor está
en marcha. Siempre desembrague la cuchilla(s), enganche
el freno de mano, pare el motor y retire la llave antes de ba-
jarse.
10. Desconecte la alimentación a los aditamentos cuando no los
esté utilizando o cuando transporte la unidad. Desembrague
la cuchilla(s) cuando no esté cortando el césped.
11. Pare el motor antes de desmontar el recolector de hierba o
para desobtruir el conducto de descarga.
12. Corte el césped a la luz del día o con buena luz artificial.
13. No opere la máquina si está bajo los efectos del alcohol o de
drogas, o si está muy cansado.
14. Esté atento al tráfico cuando opere la máquina cerca de ca-
minos o si debe cruzarlos.
15. Si usa un remolque o camioneta para transportar la unidad,
tenga mucho cuidado al cargar o descargar la unidad del
vehículo.
16. Desenganche todos los embragues de los aditamentos y
coloque la palanca de cambios en la posición neutro antes
de arrancar el motor.
17. Siempre use gafas de protección u algún tipo de protector
para los ojos cuando utilice la unidad, de esta manera prote-
gerá sus ojos de objetos que pudieran ser lanzados por la
máquina. Este tipo de protección ocular también debe usar-
lo cuando necesite hacer ajustes o reparaciones a la máqui-
na.
18. Tenga mucho cuidado cuando deba remolcar cargas o cuan-
do utilice equipos pesados.
a. Utilice únicamente barras de enganche con puntos de
remolque aprobados.
b. Limite las cargas a aquellas que usted pueda controlar
con seguridad.
c. No gire el volante bruscamente. Tenga cuidado al retro-
ceder.
d. Utilice contrapesos o pesos en las ruedas cuando esto
sea recomendado en el Manual de Instrucciones.
19. No opere esta máquina si está tomando drogas u otras me-
dicinas que pudieran causar somnolencia o que pudieran
afectar su habilidad para operar esta máquina.
20. No opere esta máquina si su estado emocional o físico no le
permite operarla con seguridad.
21. Los datos recopilados indican que los operadores de 60
años o más, sufren un mayor número de accidentes y lesio-
nes relacionados con el manejo de máquinas cortacésped.
Estos operadores deben evaluar sus habilidades para mane-
jar de manera segura un tractor cortacésped y evitar así le-
siones graves que pudieran sufrir ellos u otras personas que
se encuentren presentes.
OPERACIÓN EN CUESTAS:
Las cuestas y los terrenos accidentados son factores princi-
pales que se relacionan a accidentes causados por pérdidas
de control o por vuelcos de la unidad y que pueden resultar
en lesiones graves o muerte. TODAS las cuestas requieren
que se tomen precauciones adicionales. Si no puede subir
la cuesta usando el cambio de marcha atrás, o si se siente
incómodo en la cuesta, no la corte. Consulte la “Guía de
evaluación de cuestas”. Para obtener mayor información al
respecto, consulte esta guía que aparece al final de este ma-
nual.
RECOMENDACIONES
1. En las cuestas, corte el césped verticalmente (hacia arriba y
hacia abajo), y no en línea perpendicular (de lado a lado).
2. Quite todo obstáculo tal como piedras, ramas, etc.
3. Tenga cuidado con los hoyos, baches o resaltos. El terreno
disparejo puede hacer que la máquina se vuelque. “La hier-
ba muy alta puede esconder obstáculos”.
4. Maneje la unidad a baja velocidad. Seleccione una veloci-
dad suficientemente baja para que no tenga que parar o
cambiar de velocidad mientras está en la cuesta.
5. Respete y siga las recomendaciones del fabricante acerca
de pesos para las ruedas o contrapesos para mejorar la es-
tabilidad.
6. Tenga mucho cuidado cuando utilice el recolector de hierba
u otros aditamentos, estos afectan la estabilidad de la má-
quina.

7. Procure que todos los movimientos en las cuestas sean len-
tos y graduales. No haga cambios bruscos de velocidad o
de dirección.
8. Evite tener que arrancar el motor o pararlo en una cuesta.
Si los neumáticos pierden tracción, desembrague la cuchi-
lla(s) y continúe despacio directamente hacia el pie de la
cuesta.
PRECAUCIONES
1. No gire en las cuestas a menos que sea absolutamente ne-
cesario, si debe hacerlo, gire lenta y gradualmente cuesta
abajo, si es posible.
2. No corte el césped cerca de precipicios, zanjas o terraple-
nes. Una rueda sobre un borde o el desprendimiento de un
borde podría causar un vuelco inesperado provocando lesio-
nes o la muerte.
3. No corte el césped si está mojado. La reducida tracción
puede hacer que la máquina resbale.
4. No trate de estabilizar la máquina bajando su pie al suelo.
5. No utilice el recolector de hierba ni otro accesorio de remol-
que en cuestas empinadas (de más de 10 grados).
NIÑOS:
Pueden ocurrir accidentes trágicos si el operador no está
alerta a la presencia de niños. A muchos niños les atraen
las cortadoras autoportadas. NUNCA suponga que los ni-
ños permanecerán en el último lugar donde los vió.
1. Mantenga a los niños fuera del área de trabajo y bajo el cui-
dado de un adulto que no sea el operador.
2. Manténgase alerta y pare el motor si entran niños al área.
3. Antes y mientras retrocede, mire hacia atrás y hacia abajo
por si hay niños.
4. Nunca permita que niños u otras personas vayan como “pa-
sajeros” en el cortacésped. Ellos pueden caerse , lesionarse
gravemente o pueden interferir con la operación segura de la
máquina.
5. Nunca permita que niños operen la máquina. Enséñeles a
los niños los peligros de la máquina.
6. Tenga mucho cuidado cuando se aproxime a esquinas cie-
gas, arbustos, árboles u otros objetos que le impidan una
buena visibilidad.
SERVICIO:
1. Tenga mucho cuando manipule gasolina y otros combusti-
bles. Los combustibles son inflamables y los vapores son
explosivos.
a. Utilice únicamente un recipiente aprobado.
b. Nunca quite la tapa del tanque de gasolina ni añada com-
bustible cuando el motor esté en marcha. Deje que el motor
se enfríe durante varios minutos antes de llenar el tanque.
No fume cuando llene el tanque.
c. Nunca agregue combustible cuando la unidad se encuen-
tra en un recinto cerrado.
d. Nunca guarde el cortacésped con combustible en el tan-
que, o el recipiente de combustible en un recinto donde haya
alguna llama expuesta, tal como el piloto de un calentador
de agua.
2. Nunca arranque el motor ni lo deje en marcha dentro de un
recinto cerrado.
3. Mantenga todas las tuercas y pernos apretados, especial-
mente las tuercas de montaje de la cuchilla(s). Revise con
frecuencia la cuchilla(s) para ver si está gastada o si tiene
algún daño tal como grietas o abolladuras. Una cuchilla tor-
cida o dañada debe ser reemplazada inmediatamente por
una cuchilla de repuesto original la cual puede obtener en un
centro de servicio autorizado. Para mayor seguridad, reem-
place la cuchilla cada dos años. Mantenga el equipo en
buenas condiciones.
4. Nunca trate de modificar los dispositivos de seguridad. Re-
víselos con frecuencia para cerciorarse de que trabajan
bien.
5. Para reducir los riesgos de incendio, mantenga la máquina
libre de acumulaciones de hierba, hojas u otros desechos.
Limpie derrames de aceite o de combustible. Deje que la
máquina se enfríe antes de guardarla.
6. Pare e inspeccione el equipo si choca contra algún objeto.
Si es necesario, repare el equipo antes de hacerlo arrancar
de nuevo.
7. Nunca realice ajustes o reparaciones con el motor en mar-
cha. El carburador puede ser ajustado mientras el motor
está en marcha. No cambie los ajustes del regulador del
motor ni sobrepase la velocidad de régimen del motor.
8. Los componentes del recolector de hierba están sujetos a
desgaste, daño y deterioro, factores que pueden exponer las
partes móviles o permitir que objetos sean lanzados por la
máquina. Al guardar la unidad, asegúrese siempre de que el
recolector de hierba esté vacío. Revise los componentes
periódicamente, y cuando sea necesario, reemplácelos con
piezas de repuesto recomendadas por el fabricante.
9. La cuchilla(s) de la cortadora es afilada y puede cortarle.
Envuelva la cuchilla(s) o utilice guantes y tome precauciones
cuando tenga que revisarla o revisar el área del alojamiento
de la cuchilla.
10. Examine los frenos frecuentemente. Ajústelos y revíselos
según sea necesario.
11. Antes de comenzar a revisar cualquier parte de la unidad,
espere a que todo movimiento se detenga.
Fíjese en este símbolo, éste le indica precauciones de seguri-

IMPORTANTE: Fíjese en el perno que aparece en la Figura 22 que fue
instalado en la fábrica. Utilice este perno para montar el soporte del
bastidor.
1. Monte el soporte del bastidor en el perno instalado en la fábrica que
aparece en la Figura 22.
2. Sostenga el soporte de apoyo en un costado del bastidor. Alinee los
agujeros del soporte de apoyo con los agujeros del bastidor y del soĆ
porte del bastidor. Fije con los sujetadores que aparecen en su tamaño
real a continuación. Apriete los sujetadores solamente con sus dedos.

3. Siga cuidadosamente el procedimiento descrito a continuación para apreĆ
tar los sujetadores. Este procedimiento es necesario para asegurar el

4. Monte el canal intermedio sobre el soporte del bastidor (Figura 23).
IMPORTANTE: Si quita el recolector de hierba para montar otro
aditamento de remolque, no quite el soporte del bastidor. Utilice el
agujero del pasador de enganche en el soporte del bastidor para montar
un aditamento diferente.
5. Instale el pasador del canal intermedio (en U) en el lado derecho del
canal intermedio (Figura 24). Gire el pasador de canal intermedio
hacia la izquierda para fijarlo en su lugar.
6. Monte el tubo exterior al canal intermedio. Asegúrese que los dos
agujeros, en la parte lateral del tubo exterior, estén en el lado derecho
(Figura 24). Utilice los sujetadores mostrados a continuación, en su taĆ
maño real.

sión. Si no tiene instalada la cubierta de trituración, utilice
los sujetadores que vienen en la bolsa de partes.
6. Gire la cuchilla para que quede alejada de la abertura de
descarga.
ADVERTENCIA: La cuchilla tiene bordes afilados.
Esté siempre atento a la posición de la cuchilla.
7. Deslice las lengüetas del soporte del tubo de extensión
por debajo del deflector (Figura 29).
8. Deslice el soporte del tubo de extensión hacia la parte
delantera (Figura 30). Asegúrese de que las lengüetas del
tubo de extensión queden trabadas detrás de las tuercas
(Figura 31).
9. Mueva la palanca de elevación a la posición de corte más
alta.
10. Conecte la parte inferior del tubo de extensión al cárter del
cortacésped, usando los sujetadores que se muestran a
continuación en su tamaño real.

a. Primero, instale el perno (D) en la parte del frente del
tubo de extensión. Sujételo con la tuerca de mariposa
(E) por la parte de afuera (Figura 31). Compruebe que
la tuerca de mariposa esté apretada.
b. Luego, metiendo la mano en el tubo de extensión, ins-
tale el perno (D) en la parte trasera del tubo de exten-
sión. Sujételo con la tuerca de mariposa (E). Presione
la parte de atrás del tubo de extensión hasta que el
perno (D) quede en la parte de arriba de la ranura.
Apriete la tuerca de mariposa (E).
11. Conecte el cable de la bujía.

CÓMO MONTAR EL TUBO CONECTOR
Monte el tubo conector con los sujetadores mostrados a
continuación en su tamaño real.

1. Monte la manija y el seguro de goma al tubo conector con
los sujetadores (vea la Figura 32). Sostenga los tornillos (C)
y (D) con un destornillador corto y apriete las contratuercas
(E).
2. Monte el seguro de goma a la manija con la tuerca (B)
(vea la Figura 11).
3. Alinee los dos agujeros en el tubo conector con el agujero
en el codo. Deslice el tubo conector dentro del codo hasta
que la segunda línea en la calcomanía quede alineada con
el borde del codo.
4. Sujete el codo al tubo conector con el tornillo (A). Empuje
el tornillo (A) a través del agujero en el codo. Apriete el
tornillo (A) hasta que la cabeza del tornillo toque el codo.
5. Mueva la palanca de elevación a la posición más baja.
6. Sostenga la manija en el tubo conector y empuje el codo
para que entre en el agujero de la cubierta (Figura 12).
7. Alinee el seguro de goma con el pasador de cierre
(Figura 34).
8. Deslice el tubo conector por encima del tubo de exten-
sión.
9. Trabe el seguro de goma con el pasador de cierre.

CÓMO ENSAMBLAR LOS RECIPIENTES
NOTA: Los recipientes del recogedor pueden ser ensambla-
dos de una sola manera. Lea y siga cuidadosamente las ins-
trucciones a continuación.
1. Separe las seis secciones de los recipientes en dos grupos.
Cada grupo tendrá una sección superior, una sección me-
dia, y una sección inferior (Figura 35).
2. Busque un número en el lado de cada sección superior.
Los números para las dos secciones superiores son 1 y 3.
Coloque las dos secciones superiores en el suelo con los
rebordes hacia arriba.
3. Busque los números en el lado de cada sección media.
Una sección media tiene los números 1 – 2. La otra sec-
ción media tiene los números 3 y 4.
4. Coloque la sección media 1–2 dentro de la sección super-
ior 1.
5. Coloque la sección media 3 – 4 dentro de la sección media
3.
6. Busque un número en el lado de cada sección inferior. Los
números para las dos secciones inferiores son 2 y 4.
7. Coloque la sección inferior 2 dentro de la sección media 1
– 2.
8. Coloque la sección inferior 4 dentro de la sección media 3
– 4.
9. Párese con un pie dentro de las tres secciones (Figura 36).
Levante la sección superior hasta que las tres secciones se
conecten. Asegúrese de que las cuatro esquinas de cada
sección se traben entre sí.
10. Fije la sección superior y la sección media de cada reci-
piente con cuatro sujetadores A mostrados a continuación.
Desde la parte de adentro de cada recipiente, empuje los
sujetadores a través de los agujeros (Figura 37).

CÓMO CONECTAR LOS RECIPIENTES
1. Incline el asiento hacia adelante. Levante la cubierta
(Figura 38).
2. Si desea puede colocar los forros de plástico opcionales en
los recipientes.
3. Deslice los recipientes sobre los tubos del bastidor. Ase-
gúrese de que la etiqueta de PRECAUCIÓN, en el costado
de los recipientes, quede hacia atrás.
4. Baje la cubierta. Para asegurar la cubierta en su lugar, tire
hacia atrás la manija, empuje la cubierta hacia abajo y suel-
te la manija.
IMPORTANTE: Para que el recolector de hierba funcione
correctamente, la cubierta debe estar asegurada en la

CÓMO INSTALAR EL PESO DELANTERO
1. Para ubicar la parte donde se montan los soportes de pe-
so, mire debajo del bastidor a los agujeros cuadrados
(Figura 39). Monte las lengüetas de los soportes de peso
en los agujeros cuadrados. Para esto no se requiere nin-
gún sujetador.
2. Coloque el peso delantero en los soportes de peso.
3. Llene el peso delantero con arena. Colóquele el tapón.
PRECAUCIÓN: Si quita el peso delantero, será necesario
que quite también los soportes de peso.
ADVERTENCIA: Utilice el peso delantero cuando
opere la cortadora en una cuesta o cuando el terre-
no se encuentre accidentado o disparejo.
ADVERTENCIA: No maneje la cortadora hacia arri-
ba o hacia abajo en cuestas que sean tan inclinadas
que se le haga imposible retroceder. Nunca maneje
el cortacésped a lo largo de una cuesta. Consulte la
“Guía de cuestas” al final de este manual, para ob-
tener información sobre cómo evaluar la inclina-

FORROS PARA LOS RECIPIENTES
Los forros de plástico son accesorios opcionales que se pueden
usar para facilitar el vaciado de los recipientes de recolección de
hierba. Puede utilizar uno de los siguientes tamaños.

CUCHILLA PARA DESCARGA ELEVADA
Hay diferentes tipos de hierba. Con algunos tipos de hierba es
más difícil llenar los recipientes de recolección. Se incluye con el
recolector de hierba, una cuchilla para descarga elevada. Si el
recolector no se llena debidamente, reemplace la cuchilla
estándar con esta cuchilla. Para reemplazar las cuchillas, siga
las instrucciones en el manual de instrucciones del cortacésped.

CÓMO USAR EL RECOLECTOR DE HIERBA
ADVERTENCIA: No suba ni baje cuestas tan incli-
nadas en las cuales no pueda retroceder. Nunca
maneje la unidad a lo largo de una cuesta. Para
obtener información acerca de como evaluar la in-
clinación de una cuesta, consulte la “Guía de cues-
tas” al final de este manual.
OPERACIÓN
Para operar el recolector de hierba, siga los pasos a
continuación.
IMPORTANTE: No corte el césped cuando esté mojado. La
hierba mojada no se descargará correctamente dentro de
recolector de hierba.
1. Arranque el motor.
2. Mueva la palanca de control de aceleración a la posición
RÁPIDO.
3. Mueva la palanca de cambios a la PRIMERA posición (1).
4. Si la altura de la hierba es más de 31/2 pulgadas (9cm), corte
el césped con el cárter en la posición más alta. Luego, baje
el cárter y haga una segunda pasada con el cortacésped.
También puede cortar 1/2 a 2/3 del ancho de corte completo
del cárter de la cortadora de césped.
REVISIÓN Y LIMPIEZA DEL TUBO CONECTOR
El tubo conector está hecho de plástico transparente. Si el tubo
conector se llena de hierba, límpielo de la siguiente manera
1. Mueva el embrague de aditamentos a la posición DESEN-
BRAGUE.
2. Mueva la palanca de cambios a la posición en neutro (N).
3. Enganche el freno de mano.
4. Pare el motor.
5. Desconecte el seguro de goma del tubo de extensión
(Figura 40).
6. Retire el tubo conector.
7. Limpie el tubo conector y el tubo de extensión con agua y
jabón.
CÓMO VACIAR LOS RECIPIENTES
Observe la ventanilla en la cubierta (Figura 41). Cuando los
recipientes están llenos, la hierba se puede ver a través de la
ventanilla. Vacíe los recipientes de la siguiente manera.
1. Mueva el embrague de aditamentos a la posición DESEN-
BRAGUE.
2. Mueva la palanca de cambios a la posición en neutro (N).
3. Enganche el freno de mano.
4. Pare el motor.
5. Incline el asiento hacia adelante.
6. Jale la manija hacia atrás y levante la cubierta.
7. Retire los recipientes.

CÓMO LIMPIAR EL RECOLECTOR DE HIERBA
ADVERTENCIA: Antes de limpiar el recolector de
hierba, apague el motor y desconecte el cable de la
bujía.
Para un buen rendimiento, limpie frecuentemente la bolsa
recogedora de césped de la siguiente manera.
1. Desconecte el seguro de goma del tubo de extensión
(Figura 42).
2. Retire el tubo conector del tubo de extensión.
3. Retire el codo y el tubo conector de la cubierta.
4. Limpie el tubo conector, el tubo de extensión y el codo
con agua y jabón.
5. Levante la cubierta.
6. Limpie la ventanilla con agua y jabón.

GUIA DE INCLINACION
una inclinación de más de 15 grados. Si se utiliza la cortadora de césped autoportada con un aditamento de arrastre o de montaje trasero,
no opere la unidad en una cuesta con inclinacion de más de 10 grados.
Una inclinación de 15 grados es una cuesta que aumenta aproximadamente 2,5 metros en altura por cada 10 metros de distancia.
Una inclinación de 10 grados es una cuesta que aumenta aproximadamente 1,7 metros en altura por cada 10 metros de distancia.
Siempre tenga mucho culdado, y evite cambios de dirección repentinos. Siga las otras instrucciones en este manual para operar

con seguridad cuando se corte en las cuestas. Maneje una cortadora de césped cuesta arriba o cuesta abajo, nunca en sentido

cortar el césped. Sin embargo, si no se siente seguro, o si Ud. no está absolutamente seguro, utilice esta guia y no corte una cuesta con

En una cortadora de césped autoportada, para determinar si es seguro cortar una cuesta: (1) desenganche la cuchilla (o las cuchillas),
cuesta arriba o cuesta abajo. Tenga cuidado cuando opere la cortadora en o cerca de las cuestas y obstáculos.
