This act requires the governor of California to publish a list of substances known to the state to cause cancet;

birth defects or other reproductive harm and requires businesses to warn customeps of potential exposure

to such substances.

G_ksappliances can cause minor exposure to four of these substances, namely benzene, carbon monoxide,

formaldehyde and soot, caused p_imarily by the incomplete combustion of natural gas or LP flmls.

This dryer must be properly installed and located in accordance with the Installation Instructions

before it is used.

temperatures below fleezing or exposed to the

• Connect to a properly rated, protected and

sized power supply circuit to avoid electrical

overload.

• Remove all sharp packing items and dispose of

all shipping materials properly.

moving. Before loading, unloading or adding

clothes, wait until the drum has completely

Signal Option

When the signal is on it will sound just

before the end of the cycle to remind

you to remove the clothes.

If the dried load cannot be removed

prompdy during the cycle, the Cycle

Selector will advance to the EXTENDED

COOLDOWN setting. Unheated tumbling

confintles during EXTENDED COOLDOWN

and WRINKLE CARE (on some models)

for 40 minutes to help reduce wrinkling.

When the CYCLESIGNAL is on, it will

sound briefly every five minutes as a

reminder to remove the load.

NOTE:

Replacing the Dryer Light Bulb

door opening.

Before replacing the light bulb, be sure m

unplug the diTer power cord or disconnect

the dryer at the household disuJbufion

panel by removing file fllse or switching

off the circuit breakeL

Toreplacethe dryerlight.

[7] Using a small fiat blade screwdriver,

pry the bottom of the light cover out

and off the light housing.

[2-] Unscrew the bulb when cool and

replace it with an appliance bulb of

the same or lower wattage.

[j] Snap the light cover back on the light

housing.

Drying Rack (on some models)

A handy drying rack may be used for drying

articles such as smff_d toys, pillows or

washable sweaters.

F_] Remove the lint screen.

lint screen opening.

As a general rule, if clothes are sorted properly for the washer, they are sorted properly for the dryeL

foam-filleditems.

CareandCleaningof theDryer

TheExterior:Wipe or dust any spills or washing

compounds with a damp cloth. Dryer control panel

and finishes may be damaged by some laundry

pretreatment soil and stain remover products.

Apply these products away from the d_yeL The

fabric may then be washed and d_ied nommlly.

Damage to your d_yer caused by these products is

not covered by your warmnb,:

The LintScreen: Clean file lint screen before each

use. Lint buildup in the screen restricts air flow,

which causes longer diTing times. The screen is

locamd at the bottom of the door opening. Remove

by pulling straight up. Remove the lint and replace

the screen.

A waxy buildup may form on file lint screen flom

using dITer-added fabdc softener sheets. To remove

this buildup, wash the lint screen in warm, soapy

water. DtT thoroughly and replace. Do not operam

the d_Ter without the lint screen in place.

TheExhaust Duct:Inspect and clean the exhaust

ducting at least once a year to prevent cloggdng. A

partially clogged exhaust can lengthen the drying

time.

Follow these steps:

plug from the wall socket.

[j] acuum the duct with the hose attachment and

reconnect the duct.

TheExhaustHood:Check flom the outside that the

flaps of the hood move freely when operating. Make

sure that there is no wildlife (birds, insects, etc.)

nesting inside the duct or hood.

This dryer must be electrically grotmded in accordance

with local codes and ordinances, or in the absence of local

codes, in accordance with the NATIONAL ELECTRICAL

CODE, ANSI/NFPA NO. 70.

Electrical Requirements

• This dryer must be connected to a 208V or 240V

indMdual branch circuit, promcmd by 30-amp circuit

• Power supply: 3-wire 240wolt, single-phase, 60-Hz,

Alternating Current.

• Use copper conductors only.

EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECKLIST

HOOD OR WALL CAP

• Terminate in a manner to prevent back drafts or ent W

of birds or other wildlifb.

• Termination should present minimal resistance to the

exhaust airflow and should require little or no

maintenance to prevent clogging.

• Never install a screen in or over the exhaust duct.

• Wall caps must be installed at least 12" above ground

level or any other obstruction with the opening pointed

down.

SEPARATION OF TURNS

• For best performance, separate all turns by at least 4 ft.

of straight duct, including distance between last mrn

and dampened wall cap.

SEALING OF JOINTS

• All joints should be tight to avoid leaks. The male end

of each section of duct must point away fl'om the dryer.

• Do not assemble tile ductwork with fasteners that

extend into the duct. They will serve as a collection

point for lint.

• Duct joints should be made air- and moisture-tight by

wrapping the overlapped joints with duct tape or

aluminum tape.

• Horizontal r/lilS should slope down towards the

outdoors 1/4" pet" foot.

INSULATION

• Ductwork that runs fllrough an unheated area or is

1. Remove the shipping cap fiom gas pipe at the rear of

the dryeL

Conversion to LP Gas: DO NOT connect file d_Ter to

I,P gas service wifllout converting file gas valve. An LP

conversion kit (Pub. No. 14-A038) MUST be inst_dled

by a qualified gas mclmician.

Connect a 1/2" (1.27 cm) I.D. semi-rigid or approved

pipe from gas supply line m the 3/8" (0.96 cm) pipe

locamd on the back of the dxTeL Use a 1/2" m 3/8"

(1.27 cmm 0.96 cm) reducer for a connection.

Apply an approved thread sealer that is resistant

to the corrosive action of liquefied gases on all

pipe connections.

b. Open the stmtoffvalve in the gas supply line.

c. Test all connections by brushing on a soapy water

solution.

Prepare el drea y el exmtccidn de aire para

Asegtirese de que el extractor exmrno exismnm

est6 limpio y de que cumpla con las espedficaciones

Coloque los cuauo posms esquineros del cart6n

de empaque sobre el piso, paralelos y a una

dismncia de 2 a 3" enue sf. Coloque la secadora

cuidadosamenm sobre su lado izquierdo sobre

los posms esquineros. Retire la almohadilla de

espuma del enlpaque.

• Instale la salkla de modo de e:vitar conwacorfientes

• La boca de salida debe presentar una resistencia mflfima

al flujo de salida v debe requerir poco mantenimiento

para evitar las obstrucciones.

• Nunca instale un filtro dentro o sobre el conducto

de salida.

• Las cubiertas de pared deben instalarse por lo

menos a 12" sobre el nivel del suelo o cualquier otra

SEPARACION DE CURVAS

• Para un mejor desempefio, separe todas las curvas con

4 pies de conducto recto como mfnimo, incluyendo la

distancia entre la filtima curva y la cubierta de pared con

regulador de tiro. Para curvas ubicadas a una distancia

menor de 4 pies, vet" la Tabla de equivalencia de

componentes de conductos.

SELLADO DE JUNTAS

• Todas lasjuntas deben estar bien selladas para evitar

pOrdidas. E1extremo macho de cada secci6n de conducto

debe apuntar en direcci6n opuesta de la secadora.

• No arme la red de conductos con sujeciones que se

extiendan dentro del conducto. Funcionai'fin como un

punto de acumulaci6n de pelusas.

• Lasjuntas de los conductos deben set" herm0ticas al aire

y a la humedad mediante la superposici6n de juntas con

cinta aislante o cinta de aluminio.

• Los tramos horizontales deben tener una inclinaci6n

hacia el exterior de 1/4" por pie.

AISLACION

o ubicados cerca de un acondicionador de aire deben aislarse

• Si no puede utilizarse un conducto de metal rfgido,

• Nunca instale conductos de metal flexible en paredes,

cielorrasos, pisos u otros espacios ocultos.

• La longitud total del conducto de metal flexible no

deberfi superar los 8 pies (2.4 m).

enfiiticamente la instalaci6n de codos en la secadora y

2158A".

Nunca insmle conductos de metal flexible en paredes,

cielorrasos, pisos u otros espacios ocultos.

La longimd total del conducto de metal flexible no

deberA superar los 8 pies (2.4 m).

No coloque el conducto sobre objetos afilados.

Para un mejor desempefio de secado:

1. Deslice un extremo del conducto sobre la tuberia

Si se desea una insmlaci6n de lavadol_ y secadora apiladas,

DEBE usar el Equipo para apilar X4_E25X10020.Este

equipo est_idisponible a tIaV4Sde su distlibuidor GE.

INSTALACION EN CASAS RODANTES

1. La secadora DEBE conmr con un sistema de exuaccidn

que d_ al exmrior (flmra de la casa rodanm, no deb_jo

de _sm) y que use ducms de metal que I1Osean

combustibles. I,os ducms de met_fl deben tenet tm

di_i_meuo de 4" (10.16 cm), sin obsuucciones. Se

prefiere el uso de ducms de metal rfgido.

2. Si el sistema de exuaccidn da al piso, _ste NO DEBE

desembocar deb_jo de la casa rodante. I;_

desembocadura DEBE st{jemrse firmemente a la

estructu_v_ de la casa rodante.

3. Cuando se insmle una secadora a gas en una casa

rodanm, deben mmaIse medidas con respecm a la

mmando en cuenm la longimd del cable de corrienm que

adquifir el cable de corrienm adecuado.

Debe instala_se un alivio de mnsi6n aprobado pot UL en

el cable de corfienm. Si el alivio de mnsi6n no se instala,

el c_d)le puede zalhrse de la secadoIv_ y podrfa romperse

con cualquier movimienm del cable, lo que resulmrfa

en un shock el_.cuico.

NOTA: Las secador_ts que operan con una mma de

corrienm de 208 volfios mndr_in fiempos de secado m_is

largos que aqu_.llas que operan con una mma de corfienm

de 240 volfios.

REQUlSITOS PARA LA DESCARGA

A TIERRA

Para tma secadora el6ctrica de conexi6n permanente:

• La secadom DEBE esmr conecmda a un sismma de

cableado pem_anenm met_ilico descargado a fierra, o

bien debe correrse un conductor de descarga a fierra

del equipo con los conducmres del circuim y conecm_se

a la mmfinal de descmga a fier_v_del equipo del aparam.

Para una secadora a gas descargada a tierra con conexi6n

de cable:

• Esm secadom est_iequipada con un enchufe de ues

clavijas (descargado a fier_v0 para su protecci6n conm_

choques y debe conecm_se directamente a un

recept_iculo de ues clavijas descargado a fierra de manera

adecuada. No corte ni retire la clavija de descarga a fier_v_

de esm enchufe. No modifique el enchufe de esm

aparato. Si no se _jusm a lamma de corfienm, haga que

un elecuicism cerfificado insmle una mma adecuada.

cobre aprobado pox UL de 30A, 240V, 3 #10 AWG a

tray, s del alivio de tensidn.

4. St_jete el conductor neutral del cable de corriente

(alambre central) a la texminal de color plateado en

el bloque terminal. Ajuste el tornillo firmemente.

5. St{jete los (los conductores exteriores del cable de

corriente alas terminales exteriores de lat6n en el

bloque tei_ninal. Ajuste ;unbos tornillos fii_nemente.

ADVERTENCIA: No loble le

manexv_pronunciada las conexiones del cableado/conducmI.

6. Vuelxa a sujemr la abrazadera de mont_je del alMo

de tensidn a la parte posterior de la secadora con los

tornillos inchfidos. Ajuste los tornillos firmemente.

7. Ajuste los tornillos sujemndo el limimdor del cable

fii_nemente contra el cable de corriente.

8. Ajuste la tuerca del alivio de tensi6n fi_memente, de

modo que el alivio de tensi6n no se mueva.

9. Reinsmle la cubierm del acceso del bloque terminal.

SISTEMA DE 4 CABLES PARA

SECADORAS ELI CTRICAS

En vigor a partir del 1de enero de 1996:E1 Gddigo

Nacional sobre Elecuicidad (National Elecuical Code)

requiere que las nuevas construcciones (no exismnms)

utilicen una conexi6n de 4 cables a una secadox_ el_cuica.

1. Retire los tornillos fijando la cubiex*a del acceso del Noque

CONEXION DE GAS

PARA LA SECADORA A GAS

1. Retire la tapa del empaque de la mberfa de gas en la

pmte posterior de la secadom.

Conversi6n a gas LP: NO conecte la secadoia M se_Mcio

de gas I,P sin converfir la vAlvulade gas. Un equipo de

com'eisi6n LP (No. 14-A038) DEBE insmla_se per un

t&cnico de gas cerfificado.

Conecte un robe de 1/2" (1.27 cm) D.I. semi-rfgido

o aprobado de la mberfa de abasmcimienm de gas

al robe de 3/8" (0.96 cm) localizado en la parte

posmrior de la secadora. Ufilice un reducmr de

1/2" a 3/8" (1.27 cm a 0.96 cm) para una conexidn.

Aplique un sellador de roscas aprobado y resistente

a la accidn corrosiva de los gases licuados en todas

los conexiones de la mberfa.

b. Abm la v_ilvulade cierre en la mberfa de

abasmcimienm de gas.

c. Pruebe mdas los conexiones flot:hMolas con una

solucidn de aguajabonosa.

PRUEBE LA EXISTENCIA DE

FUGAS DE GAS CON UNA FLAMA

ABIERTA.

2. Conecte el ducto de extraccidn al sistema de extmccidn

extefioL Use cinm aislante pare sellar losjuntos.

Con la secadora en su posici6n final, _jusm una

o m_'tsde los paros hasm que la secadom se encuentre

fimlemenm en los cuatro patas. Coloque una

nNeladora en la parm superior de la secadora.

LA SECADORA DEBE ESTAR NIVELADA Y

DESCANSAR POR COMPLETO EN LAS

CUATRO PATAS.

4. Conecm el cable de corriente M tomacorriente

descargado a fierra. NOT.&."Verifique para aseguraIse

de que la elecuicidad est_iapagada en el cormcircuims/

caja de fusibles antes de conecmr el cable de corriente

al mmacorrienm.

5. Encienda la electricidad en el cormcircuitos/

c_ja de fusibles.

PRECAUCION: A,.e

secadora, asegfirese de que el drea de la secadora

est_ libre de materiales combustibles, gasolina y onas

vapores flamables. Verifique tambi_n que ning6n

objem (roles come c@_s, ropa, etc.) obsu-uya el flt{jo

6. Opere la secadora dumnte un ciclo para verificar su

flmcionamiento.

NOTA: En secadoras a gas, anms de que se ilumine la

hornilla, es necesario eliminar el aire de la mberfa de gas.

Sila hornilla no se enciende en 45 segundos la primera vez

que se enciende la secadora, el inmrrupmr de seguridad

apagaM la hornilla. Siesto sucede, APAGUE el

mmpofizador y espere 5 minums anms de inmnmr

ellCelldei de Iltlevo.

7. Si su secadora no flmciona, vefifique la seccidn Consejos

para la soluci6n de problemas en esm manual antes de

llamar a mantenimiento.

8. Coloque esms instrucciones en un lugar cercano

a la secadom para referencias flmmts.

C01VIO INVERTIR EL LADO AL QUE

ABRA LA PUERTA DE LA SECADORA

1.Abra la puerto de la secadom. Retire los 4 tapones o

tornillos de los bisagras del lade izquierdo de la abermra

de la puerto. Coloque cerca para instalaciones timings.

3. Gire la puerto 180 ° y reinsmle las bisagras de la puerto

al panel frontal de la secadora con los 4 tornillos.

abermra de la puerto.
