IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed, including the following: • Read all instructions. • Do not touch hot surfaces. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. This product is for household use only. POLARIZED PLUG (USA/Mexico) This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way. GROUNDED PLUG (Canada) As a safety feature, this product is equipped with a grounded plug, which will only fit into a threeprong outlet. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. ELECTRICAL CORD a) A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used, 1) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, 2) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord, and 3) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. Note: If the power cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel; in Latin America, by an authorized service center. HOW TO USE This product is for household use only. GETTING STARTED 1 Remove all labels, tags and stickers attached to the body or cord. 2 Please go to www.prodprotect.com/applica to register your warranty. 3 Remove and save literature. 4. Open the unit by lifting the handle. Important: Condition the nonstick cooking surfaces with a light coating of cooking oil before first use. Do not use nonstick cooking spray. Brush the oil onto the cooking surfaces or wipe on with a paper towel. Be sure to coat the cooking surfaces. Wipe off excess oil with paper towels. The first waffle will absorb any excess oil and may have a greasy, blotchy appearance. Discard it. Subsequent waffles will be much better. 5. After conditioning, allow to cool. Clean the cooking surfaces as instructed in Care and Cleaning. BAKING WAFFLES 1. Before pre-heating for first use, condition both the upper and lower cooking surfaces (See IMPORTANT under GETTING STARTED). 2. Close the lid and plug the cord into a standard electrical outlet. The power indicator light will come on and remain on as long as the unit is plugged in. The ready light will come on to indicate the unit is heating. Adjust the temperature/shade control knob per your liking. When the ready light goes out (after about 5 minutes), the unit is ready. 3. Open the unit and pour about ²/³ cup (160 ml) of batter onto the lower cooking surface. Don’t pour too much as excess batter will seep out over the edges. Spread the batter toward the edges using a rubber spatula for even waffles. 4. Close the lid, but don’t force it shut. The hinge is designed to be loose to allow the waffle to rise evenly and for steam to escape. Keep hands away from the unit as steam may escape when baking. The ready light will come on. Cooking time is 4-5 minutes depending on the type of batter/ingredients. You may notice moisture on the sides or near the handle. This is normal. Avoid opening the unit during baking as this may cause the waffle to stick or bake poorly. 5. The ready light will go out when the waffle is done. You may cook it longer for a crispier waffle. Open the top and carefully remove the waffle using a fork. Be careful not to scratch the non-stick finish. Should sticking occur, lightly re-oil the cooking surfaces. Keep the lid closed between cooking batches of waffles to preserve heat. 6. When all waffles are baked, turn the temperature control knob to OFF, unplug the cord, open the unit, and allow it to cool before cleaning. HELPFUL HINTS 1. Waffle batter can be added any time the ready light is out. It is not necessary to pour the batter immediately after the light goes out. 2. Baked waffles freeze well. Cool the waffles, place paper towels between them, wrap waffles in plastic wrap or freezer bags, and freeze. 3. Packaged pancake mix or baking mix work well with this product. Retire y conserve toda literatura. 4. Abra la unidad alzando el mango. Importante: Antes de usar la waflera por primera vez, cure las superficies antiadherentes con una fina capa de aceite de cocina. No use aceites rociadores. Pase el aceite con una brocha o con una toalla de papel. El primer wafle tiende a absorber el aceite y resulta grasoso. Despójelo. Las tandas a seguir resultarán mejores. 5. Después de curar la waflera con aceite, permita que se enfríe. Limpie los superficies de cocinar según se indica en la sección Cuidado y Limpieza. PREPARACIÓN DE LOS WAFLES 1. Antes de calentar la waflera por primera vez, cure ambas superficies para cocinar (Consulte la nota IMPORTANTE de la sección Antes del uso). 2. Cierre la tapa y enchufe la unidad a una toma de corriente standard.La luz indicadora de funcionamiento se iluminará y se mantendrá iluminada mientras la unidad esté enchufada. Aparecerá la luz indicadora para indicar que la waflera se está calentando. Ajuste el control de temperatura / grado de tostado de acuerdo a su gusto. Cuando se apaga la luz (después de 5 minutos), la unidad está lista. 3. Abra la waflera y vierta ²/³ de taza (160 ml) de la mezcla sobre la superficie inferior. No vierta más mezcla de la cuenta para que no rebalse sobre los costados. Distribuya la mezcla por parejo con una espátula de goma. 4. Cierre la tapa, pero no a la fuerza. El cierre se ha diseñado para quedar holgado, permitiendo así que crezcan los wafles por parejo y que escape el vapor. Mantenga las manos alejadas de la unidad mientras cocina ya que puede emitir vapor. La luz indicadora se iluminará. El tiempo de cocción es de 4-5 minutos conforme al tipo de mezcla y los ingredientes que se usen. Si nota humedad en los costados o cerca del mango, no tenga cuidado que eso es normal. Evite abrir la unidad mientras se preparan los wafles para que no se peguen ni resulten mal cocidos. 5. La luz indicadora se apagará una vez listo el wafle. Se puede cocinar más tiempo si desea un wafle más tostado. Abra la tapa y retire el wafle con un tenedor. Tenga cuidado de no rayar la superficie antiadherente. Si los alimentos se llegasen a pegar, aceite las superficies de cocinar nuevamente. Mantenga la waflera cerrada entre tandas para que retenga el calor. 6. Una vez preparados todos los wafles, Gire el control de temperatura a la posición de apagado (OFF). desconecte el cable y abra la unidad para que se enfríe antes de limpiarla. CONSEJOS PRACTICOS 1. La mezcla de los wafles puede verterse siempre y cuando la luz indicadora esté apagada. No es necesario agregar la mezcla inmediatamente después de haberse apagado la luz. 2. Los wafles ya preparados se congelan bien. Permita que se enfríen, coloque papel toalla entre uno y otro y guárdelos en bolsas plásticas diseñadas para el congelador. 3. Seque bien con un paño suave. Nunca rocíe ni aplique los limpiadores directamente a la waflera; aplíquelos a un paño y frótela. ALMACENAMIENTO Enrolle el cable y coloque la unidad verticalmente en un estante, sobre el mostrador, o dentro de un gabinete. ¿NECESITA AYUDA?
