Safe Operation Practices

DANGER! This machine was built to be operated according to the safe operation practices in this manual. As with any type of power equipment,

carelessness or error on the part of the operator can result in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating fingers, hands, toes and feet.

Training

1. Read, understand and follow all instructions

on the machine and in the manual(s) before

attempting to assemble and operate.

Keep this manual in a safe place for future

and regular reference and for ordering

replacement parts.

2. Be familiar with all controls and their proper

operation. Know how to stop the machine

and disengage them quickly.

3. Never allow children under 14 years of

age to operate this machine. Children 14

and over should read and understand the

instructions and safe operation practices

in this manual and on the machine and be

trained and supervised by an adult.

4. Never allow adults to operate this machine

without proper instruction.

5. Keep the area of operation clear of all

persons, particularly small children and

pets. Stop machine if anyone enters the

area.

Preparation

1. Thoroughly inspect the area where the

equipment is to be used. Remove all stones,

sticks, wire and other foreign objects which

could be tripped over and cause personal

injury.

2. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles

during operation and while performing an

adjustment or repair to protect your eyes.

Thrown objects which ricochet can cause

serious injury to the eyes.

3. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and

close fitting slacks and shirt. Loose fitting

clothes or jewelry can be caught in moving

parts. Never operate this machine in bare

feet or sandals.

4. Disengage clutch levers and shift (if

provided) into neutral (“N”) before starting

the engine.

5. Never leave this machine unattended with

the engine running.

6. Never attempt to make any adjustments

while engine is running, except where

specifically recommended in the operator’s

manual.

Operation

1. Do not put hands or feet near spring tines.

Spring tines may be sharp and can cause

injury to hands and feet.

2. Do not operate machine while under the

influence of alcohol or drugs.

3. Never operate this machine without good

visibility or light. Always be sure of your

footing and keep a firm hold on the handles.

4. Keep bystanders away from the machine

while it is in operation. Stop the machine if

anyone enters the area.

5. Be careful when dethatching in hard

ground. The spring tines may catch in the

ground and propel the dethatcher forward.

If this occurs, let go of the drive control and

do not restrain the machine.

6. Exercise extreme caution when operating

on or crossing gravel surfaces. Stay alert

for hidden hazards or traffic. Do not carry

passengers.

7. Never operate the machine at high

transport speeds on hard or slippery

surfaces.

8. Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling.

9. Look down and behind and use care when

in reverse or pulling machine towards you.

10. Start the engine according to the

instructions found in the FLEX™ Power Base

manual and keep feet well away from the

spring tines at all times.

11. After striking a foreign object, stop the

engine, disconnect the spark plug wire and

ground against the engine. Thoroughly

inspect the machine for any damage. Repair

the damage before starting and operating.

12. Stop the engine in accordance with the

FLEX™ Power Base manual before you

leave the operating position (behind the

handles). Wait until the spring tines come

to a complete stop before unclogging the

spring tines, making any adjustments or

inspections.

13. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly

ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains

carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly

gas.

14. Muffler and engine become hot and can

cause a burn. Do not touch.

15. Use caution when dethatching near fences,

buildings and underground utilities.

Spring tines can cause property damage or

personal injury.

16. Do not overload machine capacity by

attempting to dethatch at too fast of a rate.

17. If the machine should start making an

unusual noise or vibration, stop the engine,

disconnect the spark plug wire and ground

it against the engine. Inspect thoroughly for

damage. Repair any damage before starting

and operating.

18. Keep all shields, guards and safety devices

in place and operating properly.

19. Never pick up or carry machine while the

engine is running.

20. Use only attachments and accessories

approved by the manufacturer. Failure to do

so can result in personal injury.

21. Do not exceed recommended weight

capacity of dethatcher tray.

22. If situations occur which are not covered in

this manual, use care and good judgement.

Maintenance & Storage

1. Keep machine, attachments and accessories

in safe working order.

2. Allow machine to cool at least five minutes

before storing. Never tamper with safety

devices. Check their proper operation

regularly.

3. Check bolts and screws for proper tightness

at frequent intervals to keep the machine

in safe working condition. Also, visually

inspect machine for any damage.

4. Before cleaning, repairing or inspecting,

stop the engine and make certain the spring

tines and all moving parts have stopped.

Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground

it against the engine to prevent unintended

starting.

5. Do not change the engine governor settings

or over-speed the engine. The governor

controls the maximum safe operating speed

of engine.

6. Maintain or replace safety and instruction

labels, as necessary.

7. Follow this manual for safe loading,

unloading, transporting and storage of this

machine.

8. Always refer to the operator’s manual for

important details if the machine is to be

stored for an extended period.

9. According to the Consumer Products

Safety Commission (CPSC) and the U.S.

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),

this product has an Average Useful Life of

seven (7) years, or 130 hours of operation.

At the end of the Average Useful Life have

the machine inspected annually by an

authorized service dealer to ensure that all

mechanical and safety systems are working

properly and not worn excessively. Failure

to do so can result in accidents, injuries or

death.

USE THIS SLOPE GAUGE TO DETERMINE

IF A SLOPE IS TOO STEEP FOR SAFE OPERATION!

To check the slope, proceed as follows:

1. Remove this page and fold along the dashed line.

2. Locate a vertical object on or behind the slope (e.g. a pole, building, fence, tree, etc.)

3. Align either side of the slope gauge with the object (See Figure 1 and Figure 2 ).

4. Adjust gauge up or down until the left corner touches the slope (See Figure 1 and Figure 2).

5. If there is a gap below the gauge, the slope is too steep for safe operation (See Figure 2).

WARNING! Slopes are a major factor related to tip-over and roll-over accidents which can result in severe injury or death.

Do not operate machine on slopes in excess of 10 degrees. All slopes require extra caution. If you cannot back up the slope or if you feel uneasy on it, do not dethatch it. Always

dethatch across the face of slopes, never up and down slopes.

Engine

Refer to the FLEX™ Power Base Operator’s Manual

for details regarding all engine-related controls and

features.

Drive Control Lever

This lever propels the entire machine forward.

Adjustable Front Wheels

The front wheels are height adjustable for clearing

thatch from lawns of varying grass heights and

thickness.

Tray

The tray acts as a frame securing the tine assembly to

the attachment chassis, and provides a platform to

securely carry weight. No more than 90 lb. of weight

should be added to the tray.

Spring Tines

Remove dead grass clippings, stems, roots, leaves

and other plant debris, promoting a healthier lawn.

Tine Retention Wire

Keeps the tines held securely and safely in place.

Operation

Read the entire Operator’s Manual

before you attempt to operate your

new dethatcher.

Starting and Stopping the Engine

Start and stop the engine on the FLEX™ Power Base

in accordance with the Operator’s Manual included

with that machine.

WARNING! If leaving this equipment

unattended turn the engine OFF and

remove the ignition key.

Connecting to the FLEX™ Power Base

NOTE: All references to the left or right side are from the

operator’s position. Any exceptions will be noted.

1. Roll the FLEX™ Power Base over to the

dethatcher attachment with the kickstand UP.

See Figure 4-2.

2. Roll the FLEX™ Power Base forward and tip it

up, engaging the top part of the dethatcher

attachment with the handle mount provided on

the FLEX™ Power Base (1 of Figure 4-3).

3. Tip the FLEX™ Power Base backwards to

engage the two bottom connection points (2

and 3 of Figure 4-3).

Assembly & Set-Up

Unpack Dethatcher

WARNING! This attachment weighs

53 lb. and requires two people to lift it.

1. Open carton completely by cutting each

corner from top to bottom.

2. Remove the FLEX™ Dethatcher Attachment,

literature, and any cardboard inserts

included with the dethatcher.

Set-Up

This unit is fully assembled and requires no setup.

For instructions on connecting this attachment

to the FLEX™ Power Base see Connecting to the

FLEX™ Power Base in the Controls & Operation

section.

7Section 4 — controlS & operation

NOTE: The operator will be able to hear the

lower mounts engage and lock (latching

sound) when coupled properly. To test if

coupled properly, lift up on the handles. If

the unit comes apart, the connection was not

made. Ensure that the kickstand is still in the

UP position, and swiftly tip the FLEX™ Power

Base backward with the top mount engaged.

1. The kickstand acts only as a locking device

for the attachment to the FLEX™ Power Base.

The only time the operator would need

to deploy the kickstand once connected

to an attachment would be in the case of

uncoupling the FLEX™ Power Base from the

attachment.

Dethatching

WARNING! Spring tines may be sharp.

Keep hands and feet away from spring

tines.

The following information will be helpful when

operating your dethatcher.

1. Grass should be mowed before dethatching.

The dethatcher will work best in grass no

taller than 3”.

2. Grass should be dethatched when it is dry. It

is best not to dethatch grass during a season’s

peak growth.

NOTE: The FLEX™ dethatcher attachment does not

utilize the attachment control lever. Do not operate

the attachment control lever.

Engaging the Drive

1. Start the engine as instructed in the FLEX™

Power Base Operator’s Manual.

2. To travel FORWARD, slowly squeeze the drive

control lever against the handle grip and the

unit will move forward. Release it and drive

motion will stop.

3. Operate the dethatcher at a consistent speed

(approximately 3 mph is recommended).

WARNING! If you strike a foreign

object, stop the engine and remove the

ignition key. Thoroughly inspect the

machine for any damage. Repair any

damage before restarting and operating

equipment.

WARNING! Avoid sudden starts,

excessive speed and sudden stops.

Adjusting Dethatcher Height

The front wheels can be adjusted to change the

depth of dethatching. The proper dethatcher height

setting will allow the dethatcher to flex backward

and spring forward while driving. See Figure 4-4.

To raise or lower the dethatcher tines follow these

guidelines:

NOTE: It is recommended that adjustments be

made starting from the top of the dethatcher’s

height settings working down, and that

adjustments be made one setting at a time

and promptly tested for performance results.

1. Remove the axle bolts (a) and wing nuts (b)

securing both the right and left wheels. See

Figure 4-5.

2. To raise the dethatcher, align the center holes

of both wheels with a hole lower on the axle.

See Figure 4-5.

3. To lower the dethatcher, align the center holes

of both wheels with a hole higher on the axle.

See Figure 4-5.

4. Secure the wheels in place with the axle bolts

and wing nuts removed in step 1. Ensure

that the height setting used on each side

is level, coinciding with the opposite side.

See Figure 4-5.

Operating on Slopes

Refer to the SLOPE GAUGE on page 5 of the Safe

Operation Practices section to determine how to

properly operate the dethatcher on slopes.

WARNING! Do not dethatch on

inclines with a slope in excess of 10° (a

rise of approximately 2 feet every 10

feet). The unit could overturn and

cause serious injury.

• Dethatch across the face of slopes; never up

and down.

• Exercise extreme caution when changing

direction on slopes.

• Watch for holes, ruts, rocks, hidden objects, or

bumps. Tall grass can hide obstacles.

• Always be sure of your footing. A slip and fall

can cause serious personal injury. Be sure you

can control the machine.

• Do not dethatch near drop-offs, ditches or

embankments, you could lose your balance

or footing.

• Do not dethatch on wet grass. Unstable

footing could cause slipping.

General Recommendations

Regular maintenance will improve the performance

and extend the life of the dethatcher. Some

adjustments will need to be made periodically

to properly maintain your dethatcher. Follow the

requirements in the Maintenance Schedule.

When performing any maintenance or adjustments

on this equipment, always take proper safety

precautions. Wear safety glasses and protective

gloves.

This dethatcher’s warranty does not cover items

that have been subjected to operator abuse or

negligence. To receive full value from the warranty,

the operator must maintain the dethatcher as

instructed in this manual, including proper storage

as detailed in the Long Term Storage section on

page 8.

NOTE: Once per year you should clean or replace the

spark plug, and clean or replace the air filter on the

FLEX™ Power Base. A new spark plug and clean air

filter ensure proper fuel-air mixture and help your

engine run better and last longer.

Dethatcher Maintenance

WARNING! Spring tines may be sharp.

Keep hands and feet away from spring

tines.

Spring Tine Adjustment

Check the spring tine fasteners (hex screw, shoulder

spacer and nut, as well as retention wire) before

each use. Using the dethatcher may, over time,

result in the need to replace the spring tines on the

dethatcher. To remove spring tines:

1. Remove the hex screw (a), shoulder spacer (b)

and nut (c) securing the spring tine from the

top of the tray. See 1 in Figure 5-1.

2. Rotate the spring tine forward. See 2 in

Figure 5-1.

Short Term Storage

WARNING! Spring tines may be sharp.

Keep hands and feet away from spring

tines.

It is important to clean the tine assembly after each

use before storing. Debris can quickly accumulate

around the spring tines and retention wire, and

under the tine shield. Keep area around and behind

muffler free from any combustible debris.

• Use a damp cloth to wipe exterior surfaces clean.

• DO NOT insert any objects through cooling

slots on the FLEX™ Power Base.

• Use a soft bristle brush to loosen caked on

dirt, oil, etc.

CAUTION: Improper treatment of dethatcher could

damage it and shorten its life.

Long Term Storage

If you plan to store the dethatcher for an extended

period of time lightly coat spring tines with oil. See

Figure 5-4.

3. Pinch the end of the retention wire and slide

off the spring tine to remove it. See 3 in Figure

5-2.

4. Carefully ease the spring tine backward (See

3 in Figure 5-2), and slide the spring tine

downward out of the dethatcher tray. See 4 in

Figure 5-2.

Dethatcher Tray

Due to the difference in weight between the FLEX™

Power Base and the dethatcher add and secure

weight to the dethatcher tray in order to better

balance the unit from front to back.

• Cinder blocks are recommended. See Figure

5-3.

• Maximum recommended weight is 90 lb.

5. Any expendable, consumable, or routine maintenance item which

needs replacement or service as part of normal maintenance, unless

such items have defects that cause failure or premature wear within

the first thirty (30) days. Where applicable, normal wear items include

but are not limited to, blades, tires, belts, filters, fuses, hoses, where

applicable, and other consumable items.

6. Any Attachment that has been altered or modified in a manner not

consistent with the original design of the product or in a manner not

otherwise approved by Troy-Bilt LLC.

7. Paint repairs or replacements for defective paint (including materials

and application) are covered for a period of three (3) months.

8. Wheel rims are covered for a period of three (3) months for

manufacturing defects.

9. The FLEX Power Base is covered by a separate limited warranty which

is contained in the operator’s manual for the FLEX Power Base.

This warranty does not cover and Troy-Bilt LLC disclaims any

responsibility for:

1. Loss of time or loss of use of the Attachment.

2. Transportation costs and other expenses incurred in connection with

the transport of the Attachment to and from the authorized Troy-Bilt

service provider.

3. Any loss or damage to other equipment or personal items.

4. Damage caused by performance or use of the Attachment in

connection with any product other than the FLEX Power Base.

Limitations:

1. THERE ARE NO IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED

TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A

PARTICULAR PURPOSE. NO WARRANTY APPLIES AFTER THE APPLICABLE

WARRANTY PERIOD AS SET FORTH ABOVE AS TO THE PARTS AS

IDENTIFIED. NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY OR GUARANTY, WHETHER

The limited warranty set forth herein is given by Troy-Bilt LLC to the Initial

Purchaser (as defined herein) with respect to a new Troy-Bilt-branded FLEX

attachment product consisting of either a (i) wide area mower, (ii) snow-

thrower, (iii) pressure washer, (iv) leaf blower, (v) dethatcher, (vi), aerator, or

(vii) water pump (referred to hereafter as the “Attachment”) to be used with

the FLEX Power Base. This limited warranty does not cover Emission Control

Systems and is not a Federal Emission Control Warranty Statement as defined

by U.S. federal law. Please refer to the Federal Emission Control Warranty

Statement in the operator’s manual for the FLEX Power Base product (“Power

Base”) for warranties covering Emission Control Systems.

Scope of the Limited Warranty

Troy-Bilt LLC offers the following limited warranty to the Initial Purchaser for

residential or otherwise non-commercial use of the Attachment on the FLEX

Power Base: except for the Exclusions (defined herein), during the Warranty

Period (defined herein), the Attachment will be free from manufacturing

defects (including workmanship and materials). The “Initial Purchaser” is the

first person to purchase a new Attachment from an authorized Troy-Bilt dealer,

distributor and/or retailer of such attachment products. This limited warranty

is non-transferrable. Except as otherwise set forth herein, the limited warranty

period for this new Attachment purchased by the Initial Purchaser is two (2)

years from the date of purchase as shown on the original sales receipt for the

Attachment (“Warranty Period”).

Defects in Workmanship or Materials

Except for the Exclusions, the Attachment is warranted to be free from

manufacturing defects in either workmanship or materials for the Warranty

Period. During the Warranty Period, Troy-Bilt LLC will, at its option, either

repair or replace any original part that is covered by this limited warranty and

is determined to be defective in workmanship or material.

To qualify for this limited warranty the Attachment:

1. Must have been purchased from an authorized Troy-Bilt retailer.

2. Must have been purchased within the United States by the Initial

Purchaser.

3. Must have been used for residential or otherwise non-commercial

purposes.

4. Must have been used in a manner consistent with the normal and

proper intended use for the Attachment. This Attachment is not

intended for rental or commercial use.

Who can perform repairs under this warranty?

In order to qualify for the limited warranty as set forth herein, the repairs made

under this warranty must be performed by an authorized Troy-Bilt service

provider.

What this limited warranty does not cover.

This limited warranty does not cover the following (the “Exclusions”):

1. Attachment purchased outside of the United States.

2. Damage due to lack of maintenance and/or improper maintenance as

described in the operator’s manual.

3. Normal wear and tear resulting from use of the Attachment.

4. Use of the Attachment that is not consistent with the intended use

thereof as described in the operating instructions, including, but not

limited to, abuse, misuse and/or neglect of the Attachment or any use

inconsistent with and/or non-compliant with instructions contained in

the Operator’s Manual.

Capacitación

Preparativos

Funcionamiento

1. No ponga las manos ni los pies cerca de los

dientes flexibles. Los dientes flexibles puede estar

2. No opere la máquina estando bajo los efectos del

alcohol o las drogas.

3. Nunca opere esta máquina si no cuenta con

buena visibilidad o luz. Siempre esté seguro de

dónde apoya los pies y mantenga con firmeza las

4. Mantenga a los transeúntes alejados de

la máquina mientras la misma está en

funcionamiento. Detenga la máquina si alguien

se acerca.

5. Tenga cuidado al escarificar en suelos duros. Los

dientes flexibles pueden clavarse en la tierra y

propulsar el escarificador hacia delante. Si esto

sucede, suelte el control de la transmisión y no

contenga la máquina.

6. Tenga mucho cuidado si cruza o usa la máquina

7. Nunca use la máquina a altas velocidades de

transporte sobre superficies duras o resbalosas.

Mantenimiento y almacenamiento

1. Mantenga la máquina y accesorios en condiciones

de uso seguro.

2. Deje que la máquina se enfríe por lo menos

cinco minutos antes de guardarla. Nunca

altere los dispositivos de seguridad. Controle

periódicamente que funcionen correctamente.

3. Controle a intervalos frecuentes que los pernos y

tornillos estén bien apretados para mantener la

máquina en condiciones de uso seguro. Además,

haga inspecciones visuales de la máquina para

verificar si sufrió algún daño.

4. Antes de limpiar, reparar o inspeccionar la

máquina, detenga el motor y compruebe que

los dientes flexibles y todas las piezas móviles se

hayan detenido. Desconecte el cable de la bujía

y póngalo haciendo masa contra el motor para

evitar que se encienda accidentalmente.

5. No cambie la configuración del regulador del

motor ni acelere demasiado el motor. El regulador

del motor controla la velocidad máxima de

funcionamiento seguro del motor.

6. Mantenga o reemplace las etiquetas de seguridad

e instrucciones según sea necesario.

7. Siga las instrucciones de este manual para cargar,

descargar, transportar y almacenar de manera

segura esta máquina.

8. Siempre consulte el manual del operador para ver

detalles importantes si la máquina se almacenará

durante un período prolongado de tiempo.

9. Según la Comisión de Seguridad de Productos

para el Consumidor de los Estados Unidos (CPSC)

y la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de los

Estados Unidos (EPA), este producto tiene una

Conexión a la base de potencia FLEX™

Desembale el escarificador

3. Vuelque la base de potencia FLEX™ hacia atrás para

enganchar los dos puntos de conexión inferiores (2 y

3 de Figura 4-2).

NOTA: El operador podrá oír cuando se enganchan

y traban (sonido de enganche) los montajes inferiores

si se acopla correctamente. Para probar si se acopló

correctamente, tire de las manijas hacia arriba. Si

la unidad se separa, significa que no se estableció

la conexión. Verifique que la pata de cabra siga

estando hacia ARRIBA e incline rápidamente la

base de potencia FLEX™ hacia atrás con el montaje

superior enganchado.

1. La pata de cabra actúa únicamente como traba para

el accesorio a la base de potencia FLEX™. El único

momento en que el operador necesitaría hacer

uso de la pata de cabra una vez conectado a un

accesorio, sería para desacoplar la base de potencia

FLEX™ del accesorio.

Escarificador

ADVERTENCIA!

Los dientes flexibles

manos y los pies alejados de los dientes

flexibles.

La siguiente información le resultará útil para operar el

escarificador.

1. El pasto debe ser cortado antes de escarificar. El

escarificador funciona mejor si el pasto no tiene más

de 3”.

2. Se debe escarificar el pasto cuando está seco.

No es conveniente escarificar el pasto durante el

crecimiento pico de la temporada.

NOTA: El escarificador accesorio FLEX™ no utiliza la palanca

de control del accesorio. No opere la palanca de control del

accesorio.

Activación de la transmisión

1. Encienda el motor como se indica en el manual del

operador de la base de potencia FLEX™.

2. Para desplazarse HACIA ADELANTE, oprima

lentamente la palanca de control de la transmisión

contra la empuñadura de la manija y la unidad se

desplazará hacia adelante. Suéltela y se detendrá el

movimiento de la transmisión.

3. Haga funcionar el escarificador a una velocidad

constante (se recomienda aproximadamente 3 millas

por hora).

ADVERTENCIA! Si golpea un objeto

extraño, detenga el motor y saque la llave

de encendido. Inspeccione minuciosamente

la máquina para ver si está dañada. Repare

todos los daños antes de volver a encender

y hacer funcionar el equipo.

ADVERTENCIA! Evite arrancar

súbitamente, desarrollar excesiva velocidad

y detenerse de repente.

Ajuste de la altura del escarificador

Las ruedas delanteras se pueden ajustar para cambiar

la altura de escarificación. El ajuste de la altura de

escarificación adecuada permitirá que el escarificador

se combe hacia atrás y flexione hacia adelante mientras

conduce. Vea la Figura 4-4.

Para levantar o bajar los dientes del escarificador siga estas

instrucciones:

NOTA: Se recomienda realizar los ajustes de arriba

hacia abajo comenzando por los ajustes de altura,

efectuando un ajuste por vez y comprobando

rápidamente los resultados de desempeño.

1. Saque los bulones del eje (a) y las tuercas de

mariposa (b) que sujetan las ruedas derecha e

izquierda. Vea Figura 4-5.

2. Para levantar el escarificador, alinee los orificios

centrales de ambas ruedas con un agujero inferior

del eje. Vea Figura 4-5.

3. Para bajar el escarificador, alinee los orificios

centrales de ambas ruedas con un agujero superior

del eje. Vea Figura 4-5.

4. Sujete las ruedas en su lugar con los bulones del

eje y las tuercas de mariposa que se sacaron en el

paso 1. Compruebe que el ajuste de altura a cada

lado está parejo y coincide con el lado opuesto.

Funcionamiento en pendientes

cómo hacer funcionar el escarificador de manera segura en

pendientes.

• Escarifique la pendiente en sentido transversal,

nunca hacia arriba y abajo.

• Tenga sumo cuidado al cambiar de dirección en una

pendiente.

• Esté atento a los agujeros, surcos, rocas, objetos

ocultos o bultos. El césped alto puede ocultar

obstáculos.

• Asegúrese siempre de estar bien parado. Si resbala

Recomendaciones generales

El mantenimiento periódico mejora el rendimiento y

extiende la vida útil del escarificador. Hay que realizar

algunos ajustes periódicamente para mantener

adecuadamente el escarificador. Siga los requisitos

del Programa de Mantenimiento.

Al realizar cualquier mantenimiento o ajustes en este

equipo, siempre tome las precauciones de seguridad

adecuadas. Use anteojos de seguridad y guantes de

protección.

La garantía de este escarificador no cubre elementos

que han estado sujetos a uso indebido o negligencia

por parte del operador. Para obtener el valor máximo

de la garantía, el operador debe mantener el

escarificador como se indica en este manual, incluido

el almacenamiento adecuado como se detalla en la

sección Almacenamiento a largo plazo en la página 8.

NOTA: Una vez al año debe limpiar o reemplazar la

bujía, y limpiar o reemplazar el filtro de aire de la base

de potencia FLEX™. Una bujía nueva y un filtro de

aire limpio garantizan la mezcla de combustible-aire

correcta y ayudan a que el motor funcione mejor y

dure más.

Mantenimiento del escarificador

manos y los pies alejados de los

dientes flexibles.

Ajuste de los dientes flexibles

Controle las sujeciones de los dientes flexibles

(tornillo hexagonal, separador con reborde y tuerca,

así como el alambre de retención) antes de cada

uso. El uso del escarificador puede, con el tiempo,

hacer necesario reponer los dientes flexibles del

escarificador. Para retirar los dientes flexibles:

1. Extraiga el tornillo hexagonal (a), el separador

con reborde (b) y la tuerca (c) que sujetan

el diente flexible de la parte superior de la

bandeja. Vea 1 en la Figura 5-1.

2. Rote el diente flexible hacia adelante. Vea 2 en

la Figura 5-1.

Almacenamiento a corto plazo

ADVERTENCIA! Los dientes flexibles

pueden ser afilados. Mantenga las

manos y los pies alejados de los

dientes flexibles.

Es importante limpiar el conjunto de dientes después

de cada uso y antes de guardarlo. Los residuos se

pueden acumular rápidamente alrededor de los

dientes flexibles y el alambre de retención, y bajo el

protector de dientes. Mantenga el área que rodea

al silenciador y que está detrás del mismo libre de

cualquier residuo combustible.

• Utilice un paño húmedo para repasar las

superficies exteriores.

• NO inserte ningún objeto a través de las ranuras

de refrigeración de la base de potencia FLEX™.

• Utilice un cepillo de cerdas suaves para aflojar

suciedad endurecida, aceite, etc.

PRECAUCIÓN: El trato indebido del escarificador

puede dañarlo y reducir su vida útil.

Almacenamiento a largo plazo

Si tiene pensado guardar el escarificador por un

período de tiempo prolongado cubra los dientes

flexibles con una capa fina de aceite. Vea la Figura 5-4.

3. Pellizque el extremo del alambre de retención

y deslice el diente flexible para retirarlo. Vea 3

en la Figura 5-2.

4. Con cuidado afloje el diente flexible hacia

atrás (Vea 3 en la Figura 5-2), y deslice el

diente hacia abajo y fuera de la bandeja del

escarificador. Vea 4 en la Figura 5-2.

Debido a la diferencia de peso entre la base de

potencia FLEX™ y el escarificador, debe agregar peso

a la bandeja del escarificador y sujetarlo con el fin de

equilibrar mejor la unidad de adelante hacia atrás.

• Se recomiendan bloques de cemento. Vea la

Figura 5-3.

• El peso máximo recomendado es de 90 libras.

5. Los artículos desechables, consumibles o de mantenimiento de rutina que

requieren reparaciones o mantenimiento como parte del mantenimiento

normal, a menos que tales artículos presenten defectos que ocasionen

fallas o un desgaste prematuro dentro de los primeros treinta (30) días. De

corresponder, los artículos de desgaste normal incluyen, a título de ejemplo,

las cuchillas, los neumáticos, las correas, los filtros, los fusibles, las mangueras,

si corresponde, y otros artículos consumibles

6. Cualquier Accesorio que haya sido alterado o modificado de una manera que

no sea coherente con el diseño original del producto o de una manera no

aprobada de alguna otra manera por Troy-Bilt LLC.

7. Las reparaciones en concepto de pintura o los reemplazos por defectos en la

pintura (que incluyen los materiales y la aplicación) están cubiertos por un

período de tres (3) meses.

8. Las llantas de ruedas están cubiertas por un período de tres (3) meses por

defectos de fabricación.

9. La base de potencia FLEX está cubierta por una garantía limitada separada

que se incluye en el manual del operador de la base de potencia FLEX.

La presente garantía no cubre y Troy-Bilt LLC rechaza todo tipo de

responsabilidad respecto de:

1. Pérdida de tiempo o pérdida de uso del Accesorio.

2. Costos de transporte y otros gastos incurridos en relación con el transporte

del Accesorio desde y hacia el proveedor de reparaciones y mantenimiento

Troy-Bilt autorizado.

3. Cualquier pérdida o daño a otros equipos o elementos personales.

4. Daños ocasionados por el rendimiento o el uso del Accesorio con cualquier

producto que no sea la Base de potencia Flex.

NINGUNA OTRA GARANTÍA EXPRESA, YA SEA ORAL O ESCRITA, EXCEPTO

LA MENCIONADA ANTERIORMENTE, EXTENDIDA POR PERSONAS FÍSICAS O

JURÍDICAS, INCLUIDOS LOS DISTRIBUIDORES O MINORISTAS RESPECTO DE

CUALQUIER PRODUCTO, VINCULARÁ A TROY-BILT LLC. DURANTE EL PERÍODO

DE GARANTÍA, EL ÚNICO RECURSO SERÁ LA REPARACIÓN O EL REEMPLAZO

DE LA PIEZA DEFECTUOSA, SEGÚN LO ESTABLECIDO PRECEDENTEMENTE.

(ALGUNOS ESTADOS NO PERMITEN LA LIMITACIÓN DE LA DURACIÓN DE LAS

escarificador, (vi) aireador, o (vii) bomba de agua (identificado en adelante como el

"Accesorio") que se usará con la base de potencia FLEX La presente garantía limitada

no cubre los Sistemas de control de emisiones y no constituye una Declaración de

garantía del control de las emisiones federal según lo definido por las leyes federales

Alcance de la Garantía limitada

Troy-Bilt LLC ofrece la siguiente garantía limitada al Comprador Inicial para uso

residencial u otro tipo de uso no comercial del Accesorio de la base de potencia

FLEX: excepto por las Exclusiones (como se definen en el presente documento),

durante el Período de la Garantía (como se define en el presente documento), el

Accesorio estará libre de defectos de fabricación (que incluyen la mano de obra y

los materiales). El “Comprador inicial” es la primera persona en adquirir un nuevo

Accesorio a un representante, distribuidor y/o minorista Troy-Bilt autorizado del

mencionado accesorio. La garantía limitada es intransferible. Excepto que se

disponga lo contrario en el presente documento, el período de la garantía limitada

para este nuevo Accesorio adquirido por el Comprador inicial es de dos (2) años a

partir de la fecha de la compra, como se indica en el comprobante de ventas original

correspondiente al Accesorio (“Período de la Garantía”).

Defectos en la mano de obra o en los materiales

Excepto por las Exclusiones, se garantiza que el Accesorio estará libre de defectos de

fabricación en la mano de obra o los materiales durante el Período de la Garantía.

Durante el Período de la Garantía, Troy-Bilt LLC reparará o reemplazará, a su juicio,

cualquier pieza original que esté cubierta por la presente garantía limitada y que se

determine que presenta algún defecto en la mano de obra o los materiales.

Para tener derecho a esta garantía limitada, el Accesorio:

1. Debe haberse adquirido a un minorista Troy-Bilt autorizado.

2. Debe haberse adquirido por el Comprador Inicial dentro del territorio de los

Estados Unidos.

3. Debe haberse usado únicamente para fines residenciales u otro tipo de uso

no comercial.

4. Debe haberse usado de una manera coherente con el uso normal y adecuado

para el que fue diseñado el Accesorio. El Accesorio no está diseñado para

arrendamiento ni para uso comercial.

¿Quién puede realizar reparaciones en virtud de la presente garantía?

A fin de reunir los requisitos para la garantía limitada según lo establecido en el

presente documento, las reparaciones realizadas en virtud de esta garantía debe
