How to prepare the oven for steam
cooking
For steam cooking it is essential
to fill the water tank.
To fill it, pull out the water loading draw
(
follow the instructions on page 20)
and pour
water into the tank with a graduated jug (Fig.
21) until the
“tank full” light comes on.
Remember that the water tank can be refilled
with little more than 800 cc of water.
Close the drawer. At this point the oven is
ready for steam cooking.
If you pour too much water into
the tank, a safety outlet will pour
it back into the bottom of the
oven.
Dry this excess water with a sponge
or cloth (Fig. 22).

Advice and suggestions for steam
cooking
Be sure not to cover the pots with lids, this
would make it impossible for the steam
to come into contact with the food.
You can cook your dishes directly on the
grill (Fig. 24). In this case remember to
pour a little water into the drip-tray and
to slide it into position beneath the grill.
The drip-tray will collect the fats melted
during cooking, and the water prevents
the fats from burning and producing
unpleasant odours or smoke.
If you wish to open the door to check the
cooking process, remember to
disconnect the STEAM function . After
you have checked the food, close the door
and select the steam cooking function
once more.
For steam cooking, proceed as
follows:
1. Before every steam cooking, fill the tank
as shown on page 17. The amount of
800 cc (0,8 lt) of water is enough for
about 40/45 of cooking time.
2. Then prepare the food in pots suitable
to be used in the oven, position them on
the shelf (Fig. 23) at the height suggested
in the cooking tables. The 2° level from
the bottom usually gives the best results.
3. Select the “steam” function
4. Select a temperature between 130°C
and 230°C. Remember that above
230°C steam cooking does not give
very good results.
5. Empty the water tank after every steam
cooking following the emptying procedure
described on page 39.
Wait at least 30 minute after
every steam cooking in order to
avoid hot water exit from water
outlet valve.
Fig. 23
)
How to use steam cooking
The possible formation of conden-
sate on the oven door glass, walls
and bottom does not affect oven
operation. .
Residual condensation after cooking
could damage the oven and
surrounding kitchen units
in time. We recommend that you
follow the temperatures
recommended in the cooking chart.
Take care when opening the
oven door as the steam will
immediately pour out.
Fig. 24
Steam starts to develop when
the oven reaches the set tempe-
rature.
20 electrolux
The accessories for steam cooking (available
for purchase in a separate kit) offer the
opportunity to expand the field of steam
cooking, allowing you, for example, to
experiment with specific ways of cooking
vegetables, fish, etc.
The accessories include:
- a dietary baking-pan consisting of two
half-shells made out of special glass with
a recess for the passage of a steam injector
(Fig.25);
- a small grill to place inside the dietary
baking pan to keep the food raised;
- 2 injectors for steam cooking;
- a special steam cooking probe with two
different injectors to be used as shown in
figures 25 and 26, by inserting them in the
probe.
Fig. 25
Accessories for steam cooking
Steam cooking in the dietary baking dish is
particularly suited for vegetables: it heightens
the flavours without watering them down
and maintains the nutrient properties of the
foods intact.
Direct vapour cooking (Fig. 26) which uses
the perforated injector is ideal for chickens
and turkeys. The flesh is cooked on the inside
thanks to the vapour while on the outside it
browns through traditional cooking, and ends
up being delicate, soft and very tasty. The
holes in the injector must not be blocked; this
is why the injector must always be placed
inside the empty part of the chicken and
turkey, as shown in Fig. 26.
Fig. 26
Fit the end of the probe with the metal
element into the steam outlet. Insert
the two injectors into the other end
of the probe.

Safety Thermostat
To prevent dangerous overheating (through
incorrect use of the appliance or defective
components), the oven is fitted with a safety
thermostat, which interrupts the power
supply. The oven switches back on again
automatically, when the temperature drops.
Should the safety thermostat trigger due to
incorrect use of the appliance, it is enough to
remedy the error after the oven has cooled
down; if on the other hand, the thermostat
triggers because of a defective component,
please contact Customer Service.
Cooling fan
The cooling fan is designed to cool the
the oven and the control panel. The fan
switches on automatically after a few
minutes of cooking. Warm air is blown out
through the aperture near the oven door
handle. When the oven is switched off, the
fan may run on after the oven is switched off
to keep the controls cool. This is quite
normal.
The action of the cooling fan will
depend on how long the oven has
been used and at what temperature.
It may not switch in at all at lower
temperature settings nor run on where
the oven has only been used for a
short time.
Do not place cookware directly
on the oven base.
Shelf supports
Shelves level 2 and level 4 are fitted with
telescopic shelf supports to allow en easier
operation when inserting or removing the
shelves.
1. Pull the right and left hand telescopic shelf
supports completely out, as shown in
the picture.
2. Place the shelf or the grill pan on the
telescopic shelf supports, then gently
push them all inside the oven (see the
picture).
Do not attempt to close the oven
door if the telescopic shelf
supports are not completely
inside the oven. This could
damage the door enamel and
glass.

Practical Tips
Fan Cooking
Here heat transfer is effected by hot air, which
is set in motion by the fan wheel in the back
wall of the oven (forced convection).
This distributes the heat quickly and evenly
through the oven. As a result several dishes
can be cooked at the same time on different
levels (Fig. 27). The constant air movement
means no smell or taste is transferred be-
tween the different dishes.
With fan cooking up to 2 trays of biscuits
can be inserted at the same time. When bak-
ing or roasting on only one level it is recom-
mended that you use the lower levels, so
that you can see better. Fan cooking is par-
ticularly suitable for sterilising and drying
mushrooms or fruit.
Always keep the oven door
closed while cooking.
This oven is equipped with an exclusive
cooking system that creates a natural air
stream and keeps the cooking vapours
circulating.
Food is therefore cooked in a constantly
moist atmosphere, which cooks the food so
that it is tender inside and crispy outside.
The cooking times and the energy
consumption are reduced to a minimum.
Steam is created during cooking, which can
escape when the door is opened.
This is normal.
When opening the oven door during
or at the end of cooking, be careful
of the stream of hot air, which comes
out of the oven.
When food is heated, steam is
created, like in a kettle. When the
steam comes into contact with the
glass in the oven door, it condenses
and creates water droplets.
To reduce condensation, always
preheat the empty oven for 10
minutes.
We recommend you wipe the water droplets
away after every cooking process.
Conventional Cooking
Heat from above and below. Using the
middle shelf levels is recommended. Should
the dish require more heat from above or
from below, then use the upper or the lower
shelf levels.
Fig. 27
Fan Cooking
Top Heating element only
This function is suitable for finishing cooked
dishes, e.g. lasagne, shepherds pie,
cauliflower cheese etc.
Bottom Heating element only
This function is particularly useful when
blind-baking pastry. It may also be used to
finish off quiches or flans to ensure the base
pastry is cooked through.

Hints and Tips
On baking:
Cakes and pastries usually require a
medium temperature (150°C-200°C) and
therefore it is necessary to preheat the oven
for about 10 minutes.
Do not open the oven door before 3/4 of the
baking time has elapsed.
Shortcrust pastry is baked in a springform
tin or on a tray for up to 2/3 of the baking
time and then garnished before being fully
baked. This further baking time depends on
the type and amount of topping or filling.
Sponge mixtures must separate with
difficulty from the spoon. The baking time
would be unnecessarily extended by too
much liquid.
If two baking trays with pastries or biscuits
are inserted into the oven at the same time,
a shelf level must be left free between the
trays.
If two baking trays with pastries or biscuits
are inserted into the oven at the same time,
the trays must be swapped and turned
around after about 2/3 of the baking time.
On Roasting:
Do not roast joints smaller than 1 kg. Smaller
pieces could dry out when roasting. Dark
meat, which is to be well done on the out-
side but remain medium or rare inside, must
be roasted at a higher temperature (200°C-
250°C).
White meat, poultry and fish, on the other
hand, require a lower temperature (150°C-
175°C). The ingredients for a sauce or gravy
should only be added to the roasting pan
right at the beginning if the cooking time is
short. Otherwise add them in the last half
hour.
You can use a spoon to test whether the meat
is cooked: if it cannot be depressed, it is
cooked through. Roast beef and fillet, which
is to remain pink inside, must be roasted at
a higher temperature in a shorter time.
If cooking meat directly on the oven shelf,
Grilling
All types of meat are suitable for grilling,
the only exceptions being game and mince.
Meat and fish are brushed with oil before
being grilled.
The flatter the meat, the nearer the grill
element it should be grilled and vice versa.
The grill can be inserted with the curve
positioned upwards or downwards. To
achieve good browning, insert the grill shelf
into the 4th side rails, i.e. close up under the
grill element.
A little water in the roasting tray makes
cleaning easier. Insert the roasting tray into
the first side rails from the bottom. The oven
door must remain closed during every
baking, roasting or grilling process.
While the oven is operating, the oven light
remains switched on.
Thermal Grilling
When using the thermal grill, set a
maximum temperature of 200 °C.
As a result, grill and fan start to work
together (convection mode). This mode of
operation means that the heat can penetrate
the food evenly, without exposing the surface
to the direct radiation of the grill for too long
a time.
This function is particularly suitable
for:
preparing large pieces of meat, poultry and
whole fish such as trout, mackerel or grey
mullet.
Pizza Function
The bottom element provides direct heat to
the base of pizzas, quiches or pies, while the
fan ensures air is circulated to cook the piz-
za toppings or pie fillings.
To obtain the best results use the lower shelf
levels.
24 electrolux
insert the roasting pan in the shelf level be-
low to catch the juices.
Leave the joint to stand for at least 15 min-
utes, so that the meat juices do not run out.
To reduce the build up of smoke in the oven,
it is recommended to pour a little water in
the roasting pan. To prevent condensation
forming, add water several times. The plates
can be kept warm in the oven at minimum
temperature until serving.
Caution!
Do not line the oven with alu-
minium foil and do not place a
roasting pan or baking tray on
the floor, as otherwise the oven
enamel will be damaged by the
heat build-up.
Cooking times
Cooking times can vary according to the dif-
ferent composition, ingredients and amounts
of liquid in the individual dishes.
Note the settings of your first cooking or
roasting experiments to gain experience for
later preparation of the same dishes.
Based upon your own experiences you will
be able to alter the values given in the tables.

Cooking with the “Steam” function
NOTE: according to the cooking time reported in the tables it would be
necessary, to refill the tank more than one time. The run out of the water
will be informed bt the light on of the “empty tank” signal lamp”.
electrolux 29
Before cleaning switch the
oven off and let it cool down.
The appliance must not be
cleaned with a superheated
steam cleaner or a steam jet
cleaner.
Important:
Before carrying out any
cleaning operation, the appliance must be
disconnected from the power supply.
To ensure a long life for your appliance, it is
necessary to perform the following cleaning
operations regularly:
- Only perform when the oven has cooled
down.
- Clean the enamelled parts with soapy
water.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Dry the stainless steel parts and glass
with a soft cloth.
- If there are stubborn stains, use
commercially available for stainless
steel or warm vinegar.
The oven’s enamel is extremely durable and
highly impermeable. The action of hot fruit
acids (from lemons, plums or similar) can
however leave permanent, dull, rough marks
on the surface of the enamel. However such
marks in the brightly polished surface of the
enamel does not affect the operation of the
oven. Clean the oven thoroughly after every
use. This is the easiest way to clean dirt off.
It prevents dirt being burnt on.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Cleaning materials
Before using any cleaning materials on your
oven, check that they are suitable and that
their use is recommended by the
manufacturer.
Cleaners that contain bleach should NOT be
used as they may dull the surface finishes.
Harsh abrasives should also be avoided.
External cleaning
Regularly wipe over the control panel, oven
door and door seal using a soft cloth well
wrung out in warm water to which a little
liquid detergent has been added.
To prevent damaging or weakening the door
glass panels avoid the use of the following:
Household detergent and bleaches
Impregnated pads unsuitable for non-
stick saucepans
Steel wool pads
Chemical oven pads or aerosols
Rust removers
Bath/Sink stain removers
Clean the outer and inner door glass using
warm soapy water. Should the inner door
glass become heavily soiled it is
recommended that a cleaning product such
as Hob Brite is used. Do not use paint
scrapers to remove soilage.
Oven Cavity
The enamelled base of the oven cavity is
best cleaned whilst the oven is still warm.
Wipe the oven over with a soft cloth soaked
in warm soapy water after each use. From
time to time it will be necessary to do a
more thorough cleaning, using a proprietary
oven cleaner.
30 electrolux
Pyrolytic cleaning
The oven cavity is coated with a special
enamel resistant to high temperatures.
During the pyrolytic cleaning operation, the
temperature inside the oven can reach about
500 °C thus burning food residuals.
For your security, during the pyrolytic cleaning
operation, the oven door automatically locks
when the temperature inside the oven
approaches about 300 °C.
Upon completion of the cleaning
operation, the oven door will be locked
until the oven cavity has cooled down.
The cooling fan operates during cooking until
the oven has cooled down. After cooking, it
is advisable to remove all the food residues
with a wet sponge.
However, from time to time, it will be
necessary to do a more complete and
thorough cleaning, using the pyrolytic cleaning
function. You can select two different levels of
pyrolytic cleaning depending on how dirty
the oven is.
If the oven cavity is not very dirty, we
recommend that you select the pyrolytic 1
function (P I) in the programmer display.
It is advisable to wipe the oven over with a
soft sponge soaked in warm water after each
pyrolytic cleaning cycle is carried out.
If the oven cavity is very dirty, we advise you
to select the pyrolytic 2 function (P 2) in the
programmer display.
During the pyrolytic cleaning function, it is not
possible to use the oven for 2 hours when
selecting the Pyr 1 function and up to 2 1/2
hours when the Pyr 2 function is active.
After a significant number of
cooking, the cleaning reminder
suggests to activate a pyrolytic
cleaning cycle.
An acoustic signal will be
emitted, the „Pyro“ message will
appear in the display for about
15 seconds, followed by another
acoustic signal.
Select the type of pyrolytic cycle
depending on how dirty the oven
is.
The reminder message will be
displayed each time the oven is
switched off until a complete
pyrolytic cleaning cycle is
performed.
Before running pyrolytic cleaning
cycle, be sure water tank is
completely empty (follow
emptying procedure on page 39)
electrolux 31
How to use the pyrolytic
cleaning function
Before activating the pyrolytic
cleaning function, remove any
excessive spillage and make sure
that the oven is empty. Do not leave
anything inside it (e.g. pans, grids,
baking tray, dripping pan, etc.) as
this could heavily damage them.
Ensure that the oven door is closed
before activating the pyrolytic
cleaning function.
If the oven has been installed under a
built-in hob, do not switch the hob
cooking zones on while pyroliytic
cleaning is running.
During the pyrolytic cleaning cycle the
oven door becomes hot. Children
should be kept away until it has
cooled.
Choose this function to clean the oven by
pyrolysis.
The following pyro levels are available:
Pyrolytic 1 (P I) time : 2 h = 30 min heat-up
+1 h at 480°C + 30 min cooling down.
Pyrolytic 2 (P 2) time : 2 h 30 min. = 30 min

special heat-reflecting surface of the internal
panes of glass.
After cleaning, reassemble the panes in the
door and then the oven door, following the
procedure described above in reverse. Make
sure you reposition the panes correctly.
To perform this operation correctly,
proceed as follows:
a) the clear innermost pane must be reas-
sembled so that the screen-printed sym-
bol in one corner is placed in the upper
left-hand corner as shown in Fig. 42a.
The middle pane must be put back into
the right seat as shown in Fig. 42b.

b) the decorated middle pane with a frame
on the 4 sides must be reassembled so
that the screen-printing is facing out-
wards. The side of the pane of glass is
correct if you do not feel any roughness
near the screen printing when you pass
your fingers over the surface.
The middle pane of glass must be put
back into the right seats as shown in Fig.
43.
c) the uppermost pane must be reas-
sembled as shown in Fig. 44.
After the panes of glass have been
reassembled in the oven door, perform the
procedure described in point 8. in reverse to
ensure they are locked.

Appliances in stainless steel or alu-
minium
We recommend you only clean the oven door
with a wet sponge and then dry it afterwards
with a soft cloth. Never use scourers, acids
or harsh abrasives, as these can damage
the surface. Clean the panel with the same
care.
DO NOT clean the oven door
while the glass panels are warm.
If this precaution is not
observed the glass panels may
shatter. If the door glass panels
become chipped or have deep
scratches, the glasses will be
weakened and must be replaced
to prevent the possibility of the
panel shattering. Contact your
local Customer Care
Department who will be pleased
to advise further.

- After having emptied the water from the
tank, prepare a solution with 800 cc. of
water and 50 - 60 grams (two heaped
teaspoons) of citric acid or the coffee
machine descaling solutions that can be
purchased in supermarkets or household
appliance shops.
Citric acid is a nutritionally approved
substance; and comes in small white
granules similar to sugar. It is usually
used in the food industry and may be
purchased from shops selling wine,
in well-stocked grocery shops and
also in some chemists.
- Pour this solution into the loading
drawer.
- Allow the citric acid solution to rest in
the tank for about 60 minutes, in a cold
oven.
- Turn the oven on and select the steam
function with a temperature between
130°C and 230°C. After 20-25 minutes,
switch it off.
Tank cleaning
Do not pour water into the drawer
during the cleaning cycle
As with all apparatus that use water (for
example, irons), it is entirely normal that lime
deposits should form in your oven. After
having used it for steam cooking a number
of times, the lime deposits inside the tank
and may cause a reduction of the steam
itself. After about 6 months of operation it is
likely that a certain quantity of lime will have
deposited. It is therefore advisable to proceed
with a thorough cleaning of the parts of the
oven that generate the steam.
In which case, proceed as follows:
Empty the tank as described on page 39.
)
- Allow the oven to cool for 5-10 minutes.
- Turn the oven on and select the steam
function with a temperature between
130°C and 230°C. After 10 minutes,
switch it off.
Allow the oven to cool down, then
proceed with the removal of the tank
contents following the procedure
described earlier.
- Once the operation is completed, rinse
the tank a few times, pouring the water
from the load drawer and allowing it to
flow out of the outlet probe, until the
water coming out no longer shows any
lime residue. Remove any lime residue
from the inside of the oven with a cloth.
During this operation, the oven and the
surrounding area will be filled with the typical
lemon scent.
Cleaning the discharge probe
At the end of each cleaning operation, clean
the probe thoroughly. It can be washed by
hand in luke warm water with usual “dish
washing” detergents. Do not use acids,
sprays, or similar substances on the parts
of the steam probe so as not to damage it.
Advice on the various different types
of water
If one uses natural mineral waters, or at least
waters with a low lime content, the cleaning
cycles can be drastically reduced. If your
domestic water supply is equipped with a
purifier or water sweetener, then tap water
may be used without any problems.
The use of harder waters (meaning
waters with a high lime content) leads
to the cleaning operations having to
be performed more often.
