INSTALACIÓN DEL SEÑUELO DE MOSQUITO NOSQUITO® Figura 4 Un señuelo de octanol NOsquito de Stinger (NS16) está incluido en esta unidad. Las investigaciones han demostrado que el octanol es eficaz en atraer muchas especies de mosquitos y moscas. Este señuelo tiene propiedades de liberación lenta y aumenta la eficacia de atraer los mosquitos a la unidad. Para obtener mejores resultados, cambie el señuelo cada 30 días. 1. Abra el señuelo pelando la cubierta de aluminio. 2. Este modelo tiene un sujetador especialmente diseñado en la bandeja de bichos. Simplemente deslice el señuelo en este sujetador en la parte trasera de la bandeja con el lado expuesto de octanol orientado a la bandeja (Figura 4). Deslice la bandeja de bichos con el señuelo de vuelta a la unidad. 3. Para retirar – jale la bandeja de bichos hacia afuera, sujete el señuelo de la lengüeta extendida y deslice hacia afuera. CAMBIO DE BOMBILLAS (Figure 5) Use sólo bombillas de reemplazo Stinger. Las bombillas deben ser reemplazadas anualmente para mantener la óptima eficacia UV. Aunque la luz de la bombilla pueda ser visible para usted, su capacidad de atraer insectos disminuye con el paso del tiempo. Si la bombilla no enciende o si el color de la luz cambia a amarillo o anaranjado es momento de cambiar la bombilla. Vea las ESPECIFICACIONES DEL PRODUCTO para el tipo de bombilla de reemplazo de su dispositivo. 1. Asegúrese que la unidad esté APAGADA y el Adaptador de CA desconectado. 2. Retire la bandeja de bichos y coloque la unidad de lado. NO APOYE LA UNIDAD EN LA SUPERFICIE SIN DEJAR DE SOSTENERLA. No se detendrá por si sola. 3. Alcance y jale hacia afuera para sacar la bombilla vieja. Deseche la bombilla adecuadamente. 4. Inserte la bombilla nueva asegurándose que esté colocada correctamente en el portalámparas.(Figura 5) 5. Regrese la unidad a la posición vertical y vuelva a colocar la bandeja de bichos. Figura 5 Nota: Si la unidad no se enciende después de cambiar la bombilla, desconecte la unidad, retire la bombilla y vuélvala a colocar en el portabombillas. LIMPIEZA Como la unidad mata insectos, la mayoría de sus restos serán vaporizados o caerán a través de la unidad. Algunos restos se quedarán en las rejillas o se acumularán en la base de la unidad. Esto puede reducir la eficacia del dispositivo. Revise su unidad frecuentemente y límpiela con regularidad. HOW THE STINGER INSECT ZAPPER LANTERN WORKS The Stinger Insect Zapper Lantern is designed to attract and kill a wide range of flying insects. The ultraviolet (UV) light given off by this unit is within the luminescent range proven effective to lure these insects. Insects are attracted to the light and killed as they contact the electrically charged grid area. Insects fall into the bug tray. The outer protective cage helps prevent pets, birds, butterflies, and children’s fingers from contacting the charged grids. This unit is for indoor/outdoor residential use only. CHOOSING A LOCATION (Figure 1) When selecting a location, please remember that insects will be lured to the unit. In Bug Zapping mode, the Stinger Insect Zapper Lantern will effectively cover up to 625 sq ft., approximately the size of a 25x25 deck or patio space. For best results, hang or position the insect zapper between the source of insects (yard, woods) and the area to be protected, but no more than 10-14 ft. from human activity. Figure 1 OPERATION Although the unit may come partially charged from the factory, we recommend that you fully charge the battery before first use using the included AC adaptor. Only use the AC adaptor that is provided with this unit. Using an adaptor with different voltage, or one that is not intended for the unit, may cause damage to unit, damage to personal property or personal injury. Before first use, remove and discard the cardboard inserts from both the bug tray and grill. 1. To charge the unit, plug the AC adaptor into the charging port located on the side of the unit. ALWAYS ensure that the unit is in the OFF position (0) when charging. NOTE: This unit comes with a safety feature whereby if the bug tray is open, the unit will not operate. Please ensure that the bug tray is fully closed before use. 2. Locate the Power switch on the back of the unit. 3. This Insect Zapper Lantern has 2 operating modes – Lantern-only or UV Bug Zapping. a. By pushing the switch to the side with 1 line (I), the unit will operate in Bug Zapping mode, using only the insect zapping UV bulb. The LED lights will not operate in this mode. b. By pushing the switch to the side with 2 lines (II), the unit will operate as a Lantern, using LED lighting only. The insect zapping UV bulb will not operate in this mode. 4. Turn the unit OFF by positioning the switch in the center, indicated with a circle (O). 5. Using the available lure will add to the effectiveness of the unit by adding scent proven to attract more insects to the unit. 6. NO. 87173-CHN-1 Figure 3 INSTALLING THE NOSQUITO® MOSQUITO LURE A NOsquito Octenol Lure by Stinger (NS16) is included with this unit. Research has shown that octenol is effective in attracting many species of mosquitoes and biting flies. This lure has slow release properties and increases the effectiveness of attracting insects to the unit. For best results, replace the lure every 30 days. 1. Open the lure by peeling off the foil lid. 2. This model has a specially designed holder built into the bug tray. Simply slide the lure into this holder on the back of the bug tray with the exposed octenol side facing into the tray. (Figure 4) Slide bug tray with lure back into the device. 3. To remove - pull out the bug tray, grasp the lure by the extended tension tab and slide out. Figure 4 CHANGING BULBS (Figure 5) Only use Stinger replacement bulbs. Bulbs should be replaced annually to maintain optimal UV effectiveness. Even though the bulb’s light may be visible to you, its ability to attract insects diminishes over time. If the bulb fails to light or the color of the light changes to yellow or orange it is time to replace the bulb. See PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS for bulb replacement type for your device. 1. Ensure unit is OFF and AC Adaptor is disengaged. 2. Remove bug tray and turn unit upside down. DO NOT REST THE UNIT ON SURFACE WITHOUT CONTINUING TO SUPPORT IT. It will not stand on its own. 3. Reach in and pull old bulb straight out to remove. Dispose of bulb properly. 4. Insert new bulb making sure it is properly seated in the socket. (Figure 5) 5. Return unit to upright position and replace bug tray. Figure 5 Note: If unit fails to light after replacing bulb, disengage unit, remove the bulb and reseat it in the socket. CLEANING As the unit kills insects, most of the insect remains will fall down through the unit into the bug tray. Some debris may be left on the killing grid or may accumulate in the base of the unit. This may reduce the effectiveness of the device. Check your device frequently and clean the unit regularly. The time in between each cleaning will vary depending on your insect population and usage. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Before cleaning the unit, ALWAYS ensure the Power switch is in the OFF position and the AC Adaptor is disengaged. Remove bulb from unit to avoid damage (see instructions above). Using compressed air, remove any insect remains from the killing grid and bottom of enclosure. Never use water to clean the unit. Water may damage the electrical components. Be very careful not to move or adjust the metal killing grid in any way. Once the unit is clean, replace the bulb and bug tray. La luz ultravioleta (UV) emitida por esta unidad está dentro del rango de luminiscencia que ha probado ser eficaz para atraer a estos insectos. Este unidad es sólo para uso residencial en interiores/exteriores. ESCOGER UNA UBICACIÓN TROUBLESHOOTING Unit will not light, grid has voltage • Check bulb to make sure it is seated properly. Series BKC90 (Figure 1) Al seleccionar una ubicación, debe recordar que los insectos serán atraídos a la unidad. En modo de Exterminio de Insectos, la Linterna Exterminadora de Insectos de Stinger cubrirá eficazmente un área de hasta 58 m2, aproximadamente una terraza o patio de 7.6 m x 7.6 m. Para mejores resultados, cuelgue o coloque el exterminador de insectos entre de la fuente de insectos (jardín, árboles) y el área a proteger, pero a no más de 3-4 m. de la actividad humana. Figura 1 OPERACIÓN A pesar de que la unidad pueda estar parcialmente cargada de fábrica, recomendamos que cargue completamente la batería utilizando el adaptador de CA incluido antes de usar la unidad por primera vez. Sólo use con el adaptador de CA proporcionado con esta unidad. Antes del primer uso, retire y deseche los insertos de cartón de la bandeja de bichos y la rejilla. 1. La bombilla UV exterminadora de Insectos no operará en este modo. 4. Para APAGAR la unidad coloque el interruptor en la posición central, indicada con un círculo (O). 5.
