HOW TO USE POWERDENT ORAL
IRRIGATOR
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider
than the other). As a safety feature, this plug will fit in a
polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit in
the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a
qualified electrician. Do not change the plug in anyway.
1. Plug the cord into any standard electrical outlet. If a
wall switch controls the outlet, be sure it is turned on.
2. Remove the reservoir. When removing reservoir use
one hand to firmly hold the base

of the unit in
place, and with the other hand, lift the reservoir straight
up. Fill with lukewarm water. Reinstall the reservoir onto
the unit.
Note: Prior to initial use, rinse the unit by letting a
full reservoir of water pass through it. If the unit is
used with a mouthwash solution, it should be rinsed
with clean water after each use to remove any traces
of mouthwash. If the unit has not been used for an
extended period of time, to maintain hygiene it is
recommended that you follow the directions for ini-
tial use, letting a full reservoir of water pass through.
3. Select an irrigator tip

handle

out of the base and attach the irrigator tip to
the handle so that the colored tip is facing the same
direction as the water stop switch (Figure 1).
4. Adjust the pressure control on the base unit to minimum
pressure (turn clockwise) for first-time use. Gradually
increase the pressure over time until you find the setting
most comfortable to you.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
1. After use, empty any liquid remaining in the unit.
Note: If the unit is used with a mouthwash solution, a
full reservoir of water should be run through after each
use to rinse it and remove any traces of mouthwash.
2. Rinse the irrigator tip and the handle separately for
several seconds under running water. Note: Be sure to
point the handle downward (upside down) when
rinsing. Do not allow water to drain into the irrigator
handle.
3. After cleaning, place the irrigator tip back in the
covered storage and the handle on the base.
4. Unplug the unit.
5. Clean the base periodically with a soft cloth or paper
towel. The base must be dry before plugging it into an
electrical outlet.
MEDICAL SAFEGUARDS
Please note the following safeguards for your
continued safety.
1. Similar to starting any new oral hygiene product,
contact your dentist before using PowerDent Oral
Irrigator if you had oral or periodontal surgery.
2. Contact your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs or if
bleeding continues after 2 weeks.
Caution:
Opening the
handle will

first few days of

gums may bleed
slightly. Any
bleeding should
stop within a
few days. If your
gums continue
to bleed for a
period of 2
weeks or more,
discontinue use
and consult
your dentist.
5. Before turning the unit on, check that the water stop
switch

on the handle is in the off position (away
from the tip). After turning the unit on by pressing
the on/off button
➉
on the base unit, lean over the
sink and position the tip in your mouth. Move the water
stop switch to on (towards the tip) to begin the cleaning
and massage process.
Note: Keep your mouth slightly open and hold your
elbow at mouth level so that the water can run back
into the sink.
6. Direct the flow along the gumline (Figure 2) and also
between your teeth. Do not point the irrigator tip directly
at your gums. For best results, begin with your back
teeth and work forward. Consult your dental professional
for further recommendations on use.
7. To adjust the flow of the water from a stream to the
hydromassage spray (or spray to stream), rotate the
colored irrigator tip (Figure 3). Use the stream for more
pinpoint cleaning and the hydromassage spray for a more
general cleaning and massage.
Note: To avoid splashing, adjust the flow from stream
to spray while the unit is out of your mouth, over the
sink and pointed down into the sink.
8. When finished, move the water stop switch to the off
position and turn off the unit. Remove the irrigator tip by
pressing the release button

and replace in the
covered storage. Empty any liquid remaining in the unit.
Unplug the unit.
Note: NEVER leave the unit "On" when not in use.
Water pressure will continue to build and may
cause damage to the unit. You must turn the
water stop switch

to the Off position when not in use.
Note: We recom-
mend soaking the
irrigator tip in a
denture cleaner

available) every 2
to 4 weeks to

hygienically

ONE YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
(Valid in USA only)
HoMedics, Inc., guarantees this product free from defects in
material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date
of purchase, except as noted below.
This HoMedics product warranty does not cover damage caused
by misuse or abuse; accident; the attachment of any unauthorized
accessory; alteration to the product; or any other conditions
whatsoever that are beyond the control of HoMedics. This
warranty is effective only if the product is purchased and operated
in the USA. A product that requires modification or adaptation to
enable it to operate in any country other than the country for
which it was designed, manufactured, approved and/or
authorized, or repair of products damaged by these modifications
is not covered under warranty. HoMedics shall not be responsible
for any type of incidental, consequential or special damages. All
implied warranties, including but not limited to those implied
warranties of fitness and merchantability, are limited in the total
duration of one year from the original purchase date.
To obtain warranty service on your HoMedics product, either hand
deliver or mail the unit and your dated sales receipt (as proof of
purchase), postpaid, along with check or money order in the
amount of $5.00 payable to HoMedics, Inc. to cover handling.
Upon receipt, HoMedics will repair or replace, as appropriate, your
product and return it to you, postpaid. Warranty is solely through
HoMedics Service Center. Service of this product by anyone other
than HoMedics Service Center voids warranty.
This warranty provides you with specific legal rights. You may
have additional rights which may vary from state to state. Because
of individual state regulations, some of the above limitations and
exclusions may not apply to you.

CÓMO USAR EL IRRIGADOR BUCAL
POWERDENT
Este artefacto tiene un enchufe polarizado (un espigo es más ancho
que el otro). Como una característica de seguridad, este enchufe
encaja en un tomacorriente polarizado de una sola forma. Si el
enchufe no entra en el tomacorriente, invierta la posición del
enchufe. Si aún así no encaja, póngase en contacto con un elec-
tricista calificado. No cambie el enchufe en modo alguno.
1. Enchufe el cordón en cualquier tomacorriente eléctrico normal. Si
el tomacorriente está controlado por un interruptor de pared,
asegúrese de que éste esté encendido.
2. Quite el tanque. Cuando quita el tanque, use una mano para
sujetar firmemente en su lugar la base

de la unidad, y con la
otra mano, levante el tanque derecho hacia arriba. Llene con
agua tibia. Vuelva a colocar el tanque en la unidad.
Atención: Antes de usar la primera vez, enjuague la unidad
dejando pasar por la misma una cantidad de agua igual a un
tanque lleno. Si se usa la unidad con una solución de enjuague
bucal, después de cada uso debe enjuagarse la unidad con
agua limpia para eliminar cualquier traza del enjuague bucal. Si
no se ha usado la unidad por un largo período de tiempo, como
precaución higiénica se recomienda seguir las instrucciones
para el uso por primera vez, dejando pasar por la unidad la can-
tidad de agua igual a un tanque lleno.
3. Seleccione una boquilla irrigadora

para su uso personal (las
boquillas están codificadas por color para permitir varios usuar-
ios). Retire el mango del irrigador

de la base y sujete la
boquilla irrigadora al mango de tal manera que el extremo de
color se encuentre en la misma dirección del interruptor de para-
da del agua (Figura 1).
4. Cuando la use por primera vez, ajuste el control de presión en la
base de la unidad a la presión mínima (gire en sentido horario).
Con tiempo, aumente en forma gradual la presión hasta encon-
trar el ajuste más confortable para usted.

5. Antes de encender la unidad, asegúrese de que el interruptor de
parada del agua

/apagado (lejos de la boquilla). Después de encender la unidad
accionando el botón

on/off (encendido-apagado) en la base
de la unidad, inclínese sobre el lavamanos y ponga la boquilla en
la boca. Ponga el interruptor de parada del agua en la posición
“on” (encendido – hacia la boquilla) para comenzar el proceso de
limpieza y masaje.
Atención: Mantenga la boca ligeramente abierta y tenga el
codo al nivel de la boca de manera que el agua pueda caer al
lavamanos.
6. Dirija el flujo hacia la línea de la encía (Figura 2) y también entre los
dientes. No apunte la boquilla irrigadora directamente a la encía.
Para lograr los mejores resultados, empiece con los dientes de
atrás y siga con los de adelante. Para más recomendaciones sobre
el uso, consulte con su profesional de dentistería.
7. Para ajustar el flujo de agua desde el chorro al rociado del hidro-
masaje (o desde el rociado al chorro), gire la boquilla irrigadora
coloreada (Figura 3). Use el chorro para una limpieza más precisa
y el rociado del hidromasaje para una limpieza más general y el
masaje.
Atención: Para evitar salpicaduras, ajuste el flujo del chorro
al rociado mientras la unidad de encuentra fuera de su boca,
sobre el lavamanos y apunte hacia abajo en el lavamanos.
8. Al terminar, coloque el interruptor de parada de agua en la posición
“off” (apagado) y apague la unidad. Retire la boquilla irrigadora
oprimiendo el botón de liberación

y vuelva a colocarla en el
almacén cubierto. Escurra todo el líquido que quede en la unidad.
Desenchufe la unidad.
Atención: No deje NUNCA la unidad encendida (“On”) cuan
do haya terminado. La presión del agua seguirá aumentan
do y esto puede dañar la unidad. Usted tiene que girar el
interruptor de parada del agua

y el botón On/Off

la posición Off, cuando haya terminado.
LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
1. Después del uso, escurra todo el líquido que quede en la
unidad. Atención: Si se usa la unidad con una solución de
enjuague bucal, después de cada uso es necesario dejar pasar
por la unidad la cantidad de agua igual al tanque lleno para
enjuagarla y quitar cualquier traza de enjuague bucal.
2. Enjuague la boquilla irrigadora y el mango separadamente y por
varios segundos en agua corriente. Atención: Asegúrese de diri-
gir el mango hacia abajo (parte superior hacia abajo) cuando lo
enjuague. No deje que le entre agua al mango del irrigador.
3. Después de la limpieza, vuelva a colocar la boquilla irrigadora
en el almacén cerrado y el mango en su base.
4. Desenchufe la unidad.
5. Limpie la base periódicamente con un paño suave o una toalla
de papel. La base debe estar seca antes de enchufarla en un
tomacorriente eléctrico.
PRECAUCIONES MÉDICAS
Tenga en cuenta las siguientes precauciones para su seguridad.
1. Al igual que con cualquier producto nuevo de higiene bucal,
contacte a su dentista antes de usar el Irrigador Bucal
PowerDent si ha tenido una intervención quirúrgica bucal o peri-
odontal.
2. Contacte a su dentista si aparece un sangrado excesivo o si el
mismo continúa después de 2 semanas.
