HOW TO USE POWERDENT ULTRA

1. Attach the brush head to the handle by positioning the

brush head at a 90-degree angle to the left of the han-

dle (See Figure A). Turn the brush head counter clock-

wise one-quarter turn, so the bristles are facing the

same direction as the ON/OFF button, and the brush

head will snap into place. The Smart Sensor logo will be

facing forward as will the bristles. (See Figure B)

2. Before brushing, wet the brush head to moisten, then

apply toothpaste.

3. TO USE WITH SMART SENSOR TECHNOLOGY

Push the ON/OFF button briefly, and the

corresponding LED light will glow green, indicating

that the power is ON. Apply brush head against your

teeth to activate the toothbrush (See Figure C).

Unit will not operate (no function) until pressure

is applied to the brush head. If you do not apply

pressure to the brush head for 15 seconds the unit

will turn off, along with the green LED light.

TO USE WITHOUT SMART SENSOR TECHNOLOGY

Press and hold the ON/OFF button for about

2 seconds, after which time the unit will automatically

begin working. This option, to override the Smart

Sensor feature, is available for those who have learned

how to brush with a light touch or would prefer not to

use this feature.

4. Guide the brush head to your teeth, placing it at a 45

degree angle towards the gum line. Gently guide the

brush head from tooth to tooth, spending a few

seconds on the surface of each tooth.

Dentists recommend that you brush your

teeth gently to avoid tooth and gum abra-

sion. Exclusive HoMedics’ Smart Sensor™

technology activates the brushing action

when just the lightest amount of pressure is

applied, to help protect teeth and gums and

reinforce proper brushing habits.

CHARGING

INSTRUCTIONS

Follow this procedure before you use the

PowerDent Ultra for the first time.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, this

appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is

wider than the other). This plug will fit in a

polarized outlet only one way. If the plug

does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the

plug. If it still does not fit, contact a

qualified electrician to install the proper

outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.

1. Plug the charger base into a 120-volt

outlet. Place the handle into the base and

allow it to charge for at least 16 hours

before using it for the first time.

2. The charger indicator light on the handle

will glow red when the tooth brush is

correctly placed in the charger base. This

is an indication that the handle is

charging. The indicator will turn off when

the toothbrush is removed from the base.

3. The optimum voltage for charging is 120V.

4. To maintain the unit’s full performance, it

should always be replaced back on the

charging base after use.

Note: Charge for at least 16 hours before

using the unit for the first time.

4. When the unit is not in use for an extended period,

unplug the cord and store.

5. Clean the charger base periodically with a soft cloth or

paper towel. The charger base must be dry before plug-

ging it into an electrical outlet.

MEDICAL SAFEGUARDS

Please note the following instructions for your continued

safety.

1. Similar to starting any new oral hygiene regime, contact

your dentist before using PowerDent Ultra if you have had

oral or periodontal surgery.

2. Contact your dentist if excessive bleeding occurs or if

bleeding continues after 2 weeks.

3. This product is designed for cleaning teeth and gums only.

Do not use for any other purpose.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

REMOVING AND DISPOSING OF NI-CAD BATTERIES

This unit is equipped with long-lasting, rechargeable nickel-

cadmium batteries. To help protect our environment, they

should be removed at the end of the unit’s life for safe dispos-

al. Batteries CANNOT

be replaced.

To remove the batteries before discarding product:

1. Place the handle in the charging base and turn counter

clockwise to remove the cap.

2. Slide the battery out of the handle and remove.

3. Dispose of the cell-pack in compliance with national or

local regulations for environmental protection and

recycling of raw materials. Do not dispose of the cell-pack

by burning or incineration.

5. Brush the gum lines as well as the teeth, starting

with the outside teeth and gums, followed by the

insides and finish with the chewing surfaces.

Ensure that you spend equal time in all 4 quadrants

of your mouth.

6. Do not press too hard or scrub with this unit.

Remember the unit is activated with the lightest

pressure to help protect teeth and gums.

7. The auto timer feature will automatically turn the

unit off after the 2-minute dentist recommended

brushing time. Note: To turn the unit off before the

2 minutes have elapsed, simply press the ON/OFF

button. Ensure the unit is off when traveling with

the PowerDent Ultra.

8. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water.

9. Remove brush head and rinse under running

water.

10. Brush heads should be replaced every 2-3 months

to ensure optimal performance.

model are available at your local retailer or check

www.homedics.com for a list of retailers that offer

these replacement heads.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

1. After use, turn the toothbrush off and rinse the

brush head for several seconds under running

water.

2. Take the brush head off the handle and rinse both

parts under running water and wipe them dry.

Note: Be sure to point the handle downward

(upside down) when rinsing. Do not allow water to

drain down into handle.

3. Place the handle back on the charging base.

Note: For optimal charging base stability, run the

power cord through the right or left slot on the

back of the charging base.

HoMedics, Inc., guarantees this product free from defects in material

and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of original

purchase, except as noted below.

This HoMedics product warranty does not cover damage caused by

misuse or abuse; accident; the attachment of any unauthorized

accessory; alteration to the product; or any other conditions whatsoever

that are beyond the control of HoMedics. This warranty is effective only

if the product is purchased and operated in the USA. A product that

requires modification or adaptation to enable it to operate in any

country other than the country for which it was designed, manufactured,

approved and/or authorized, or repair of products damaged by these

modifications is not covered under warranty. HoMedics shall not be

responsible for any type of incidental, consequential or special

damages. All implied warranties, including but not limited to those

implied warranties of fitness and merchantability, are limited in the total

duration of one year from the original purchase date.

To obtain warranty service on your HoMedics product, either hand

deliver or mail the unit and your dated sales receipt (as proof of

purchase), postpaid, along with check or money order in the amount of

$5.00 payable to HoMedics, Inc. to cover handling.

Upon receipt, HoMedics will repair or replace, as appropriate, your

product and return it to you, postpaid. If it is appropriate to replace your

product, HoMedics will replace the product with the same product or a

comparable product at HoMedics’ option. Warranty is solely through

HoMedics Service Center. Service of this product by anyone other than

HoMedics Service Center voids warranty.

Los dentistas recomiendan el cepillar los dientes

con delicadeza para evitar la abrasión de dientes

y encías. La tecnología exclusiva Smart Sensor™

de HoMedics activa la acción cepilladora cuando

se aplica un mínimo de presión, para ayudar a

proteger dientes y encías, y para favorecer la

costumbre de un cepillado apropiado.

INSTRUCCIONES DE CARGA

Siga este procedimiento antes de usar por

primera vez su PowerDent Ultra.

Para reducir el riesgo de choque eléctrico, este

artefacto tiene un enchufe polarizado (una paleta

es más ancha que la otra). Este enchufe puede

enchufarse en un tomacorriente polarizado sólo

de una forma. Si éste no entra totalmente en el

tomacorriente, invierta la posición del enchufe. Si

aún no entra, póngase en contacto con un elec-

tricista calificado para que instale un tomacorri-

ente adecuado. No cambie el enchufe en modo

alguno.

1. Enchufe la base-cargador en un tomacorriente

de 120 voltios. Coloque el mango en la base

y déjelo cargarse por no menos de 16 horas

antes de usarlo por primera vez.

2. La luz indicadora del cargador brilla con color

rojo cuando el cepillo está colocado correcta-

mente en la base-cargador. Eso indica que el

mango está cargándose. El indicador se apa-

gará cuando el cepillo se retire de la base.

3. El voltaje más indicado para la carga es

120 voltios.

4. Para mantener el mejor funcionamiento de la

unidad, ésta siempre debe volver a colocarse

en la base-cargador después de usarla.

Atención: Cargue la unidad por no menos de

16 horas antes de usarla por primera vez.

CÓMO USAR EL POWERDENT ULTRA

1. Sujete la cabeza del cepillo al mango colocando la cabeza a

un ángulo de 900 hacia la izquierda del mango (Ver Fig. A).

Gire la cabeza del cepillo un cuarto de giro en sentido anti-

horario, en modo que las cerdas queden en la misma direc-

ción del botón ON/OFF, y la cabeza de cepillo quedará fijada

en su lugar. El logotipo Smart Sensor quedará posicionado

hacia adelante, lo mismo que las cerdas. (Vea la Figura 1).

2. Antes de cepillarse, moje la cabeza del cepillo para humede-

cerlo, luego aplique la pasta dental.

3. PARA USAR CON TECNOLOGÍA SMART SENSOR Oprima

brevemente el botón ON/OFF, y la correspondiente luz LED

se encenderá en verde, indicando que la unidad está

ENCENDIDA. Toque sus dientes con la cabeza del cepillo

para activar el cepillo (Ver Figura C). La unidad no se activa

(no funciona) hasta que se aplique alguna presión a la

cabeza del cepillo. Si usted no aplica presión a la cabeza

del cepillo por 15 segundos, la unidad se apaga, junto con la

luz LED verde.

PARA USAR CON TECNOLOGÍA SMART SENSOR

Oprima y mantenga el botón ON/OFF por cerca de 2 segun-

dos; después de ese tiempo la unidad empezará automáti-

camente a trabajar. Esta opción, para eliminar la función del

Smart Sensor, está disponible para aquellos que han apren-

dido a cepillarse con un toque liviano o prefieren evitar el

uso de esa función.

4. Oriente la cabeza del cepillo a sus dientes, colocándola a un

ángulo de 45 grados hacía la línea de la encía. Dirija suave-

mente la cabeza del cepillo de un diente a otro, dejándola

unos segundos sobre la superficie de cada diente.

5. Además de cepillar los dientes cepille también la línea

de la encía, comenzando desde la parte exterior de los

dientes y la encía, siguiendo por la parte interior y final-

izando con las superficies de masticación. Asegúrese

de emplear la misma cantidad de tiempo en los 4 cuad-

rantes de su boca.

6. No presione demasiado fuerte ni frote con esta unidad.

Recuerde que la unidad se activa con una presión míni-

ma, para proteger dientes y encías.

7. La característica del cronómetro automático apagará

automáticamente la unidad luego de los 2 minutos de

cepillado recomendados por el dentista. Atención: Para

apagar la unidad antes de que transcurran los 2 minutos

simplemente oprima el botón "ON/OFF" (encedido/

apagado). Cuando lleva su PowerDent Ultra en sus via-

jes, asegúrese de que la unidad esté apagada.

8. Enjuáguese bien la boca con agua.

9. Retire la cabeza del cepillo y enjuáguela en agua corri-

ente.

10.Las cabezas del cepillo deben reemplazarse cada 2-3

meses para asegurar un rendimiento óptimo.

Las cabezas de cepillo de reemplazo de HoMedics (RH-P)

para este modelo están disponibles en su distribuidor local

o consulte www.homedics.com para obtener una lista de

los distribuidores que ofrecen estas cabezas de reemplazo.

LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO

1. Después del uso, apague el cepillo y enjuague la

cabeza de cepillo por varios segundos en agua corri-

ente.

2. Retire del mango la cabeza del cepillo y enjuague

ambas partes por separado en agua corriente y séque-

las con una toalla. Atención: Asegúrese de dirigir el

mango hacia abajo (parte superior hacia abajo) cuando

lo enjuague. No deje que le entre agua al mango.

3. Vuelva a colocar el mango en la base-cargador.

Atención: Para la máxima estabilidad de la base-car-

gador, pase el cable a través de la ranura derecha o

izquierda en la parte de atrás de la base-cargador.

4. Si la unidad no se usa por un largo período de tiempo, des-

enchufe el cable y guárdela.

5. Limpie la base periódicamente con un paño suave o una toalla

de papel. La base debe estar seca antes de enchufarla en un

tomacorriente eléctrico.

PRECAUCIONES MÉDICAS

Tenga en cuenta las siguientes instrucciones para su seguridad.

1. Al igual que con cualquier régimen nuevo de higiene bucal,

contacte a su dentista antes de usar el PowerDent Ultra si ha

tenido una intervención quirúrgica bucal o periodontal.

2. Contacte a su dentista si aparece un sangrado excesivo o si el

mismo continúa después de 2 semanas.

3. Este producto está concebido para limpiar dientes y encías

solamente. No utilice el producto con ningún otro fin.

INSTRUCCIONES ESPECIALES

CÓMO QUITAR Y ELIMINAR LAS BATERÍAS DE NI-CAD

Esta unidad está equipada con baterías recargables de níquel-

cadmio. Para ayudar a proteger nuestro medio ambiente, éstas

deben ser quitadas al final de la vida útil de la unidad, para ser

desechadas de un modo seguro. Las baterías NO SE PUEDEN

reemplazar.

Para quitar las baterías antes de desechar el producto:

1. Coloque el mango en la base-cargador y gírelo en sentido anti-

horario para quitar la tapa.

2. Deslice la batería fuera del mango y retírela.

3. Deseche el paquete de la célula de acuerdo con las regula-

ciones locales o nacionales de protección al medio ambiente y
