1 Introduction
Thank you for your purchase. The information contained in
this manual will help you receive maximum performance and
satisfaction from your STIHL Smart Garden Hub and, if
followed, reduce the risk of injury during installation and use.
SAVE THIS MANUAL!
Allow only persons who fully understand the information in
this manual to use the STIHL Smart Garden Hub.
For further information, or if you do not understand any of
the instructions in this manual, please refer to the STIHL
GCI App or contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer.

3 Main Parts
3.1 Smart Garden Hub
1LED Bar
Indicates the status of the Smart Garden Hub.
2Cover
Covers the valve terminals and electronics.
3 Power Supply Cord
Supplies the Smart Garden Hub with electricity when
plugged into an electrical outlet.
4Plug
Connects the power supply cord to an electrical outlet.
5 Terminals
Contacts for connecting control lines and ground wires of
irrigation valves, soil moisture sensors, flow meters and
landscape lighting control.
6 Sealing Plugs
Designed to prevent water from entering the unit when
the Smart Garden Hub is mounted to a wall.

5 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
5.1 Intended Use
WARNING
￭ The STIHL GCI 100 Smart Garden Hub is designed to
control the following outdoor components:
– irrigation valves with an output voltage of 24 V (AC) and
current of maximum 250 mA
– soil moisture sensors with a maximum input voltage of
5V(DC)
– flow meters with a maximum input voltage of 5 V (DC)
– landscape lighting systems with an output voltage of
24 V (AC) and current of maximum 250 mA
￭ The Smart Garden Hub controls the components using
up-to-date weather data and information and signals
provided by the connected components.
￭ Improper or unauthorized use of the Smart Garden Hub
could result in personal injury or property damage. Use
the STIHL Smart Garden Hub only as described in this
manual.
5.2 Smart Garden Hub
WARNING
￭ To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and other
personal injury or property damage:
– Read and follow all cautionary markings on the
Smart Garden Hub and all instructions in this manual
before installing or using the Smart Garden Hub.
– Never use a damaged or improperly functioning
Smart Garden Hub.
– If installed outdoors, connect the Smart Garden
Hub's power supply cord only to a covered Class A
Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor (GFCI) receptacle
that has an enclosure that is weatherproof with an
attachment plug cap inserted or removed. Do not
use with receptacles that are weatherproof only
when the receptacle is covered (attachment plug cap
not inserted and receptacle cover closed).
– If installed indoors, connect the Smart Garden Hub
to a properly installed electrical outlet that matches
the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the
Smart Garden Hub.
– Use the Smart Garden Hub only within an ambient
temperature range of

– Do not operate the Smart Garden Hub on a
combustible surface (e.g., paper, cardboard,
textiles) or in a combustible environment.
Read and follow all safety precautions in the
instruction manual. Improper installation or
operation can lead to serious or fatal personal
injury or property damage.
To reduce the risk of injury or property damage,
immediately disconnect the Smart Garden Hub
from the power supply before inspecting the
Smart Garden Hub or carrying out any cleaning,
maintenance or repair work.

5 IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
￭ The Smart Garden Hub can produce sparks which may
ignite combustible gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other
combustible materials. To reduce the risk of fire and
explosion:
– Do not operate in a location where combustible
gases, liquids, vapors, dusts or other combustible
materials are present.
￭ To reduce the risk of electric shock and other personal
injury or property damage when mounting the Smart
Garden Hub:
– Ensure that no electrical cables, pipes or other
service lines run behind the wall where the Smart
Garden Hub is to be mounted.
– Mount the Smart Garden Hub only as described in
this manual.
– Do not permit minors to use the Smart Garden Hub.
￭ To reduce the risk of eye injury:
– Always wear close-fitting protective eyewear when
mounting the Smart Garden Hub.
￭ Using a damaged power supply cord or plug may result in
fire, electric shock and other personal injury or property
damage. To reduce these risks:
– Never yank or jerk the power supply cord to
disconnect. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the power
supply cord.
– Do not use the power supply cord for any other
purpose, e.g., for carrying or hanging up the Smart
Garden Hub.
– Make sure the power supply cord is positioned and
secured or marked so that they will not be stepped
on, tripped over, come in contact with sharp objects,
moving parts, or otherwise be subjected to damage
or stress.
￭ In case of fire, or if the Smart Garden Hub emits smoke,
an unusual smell, feels hot or appears abnormal in any
other way:
– Immediately disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from
the electrical outlet and prepare to contact the
authorities in the event of fire or explosion.
– Have the Smart Garden Hub inspected and repaired
by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer before use.
WARNING
￭ To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and other
personal injury or property damage:
– If installed outdoors, connect the Smart Garden
Hub's power supply cord only to a covered Class A
Ground Fault Circuit Interruptor (GFCI) receptacle
that has an enclosure that is weatherproof with an
attachment plug cap inserted or removed. Do not
use with receptacles that are weatherproof only
when the receptacle is covered (attachment plug cap
not inserted and receptacle cover closed).
– If installed indoors, connect the Smart Garden Hub
to a properly installed electrical outlet that matches
the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the
Smart Garden Hub.
– Always mount the Smart Garden Hub in accordance
with building code requirements, but at least 18 in.
(45 cm) off the ground.
￭ To reduce the risk of electric shock:
– Do not plug the Smart Garden Hub into a power
strip.
– Check the Smart Garden Hub’s power
supply cord and your plug regularly for
damage. If it becomes damaged,
immediately disconnect the Smart
Garden Hub from the power supply.
Never use a damaged power supply cord
or plug.
– Always disconnect the Smart Garden
Hub from the electrical outlet at the end
of the watering season and before
carrying out any inspection, cleaning or
maintenance on the unit.

6 Maintenance, Repair and Storage

￭ Using a damaged power supply cord or plug may result in

damage. To reduce the risk of electrocution:

Garden Hub. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or
other personal injury and property damage:
– Users may carry out only the cleaning and
maintenance operations described in this manual.
Users must not attempt any other cleaning,
maintenance or repair.
– Strictly follow the cleaning and maintenance
instructions in the appropriate sections of this
instruction manual.
– STIHL recommends that all repair work be
performed by authorized STIHL servicing dealers.
– Maintain and replace warning and instruction labels
as necessary.
￭ Use of parts that are not authorized or approved by STIHL
may cause serious or fatal injury or property damage.
– STIHL recommends that only authorized STIHL
replacement parts be used for repair or
maintenance.
￭ To reduce the risk of electric shock:
– Regularly check the Smart Garden Hub and ensure
that the insulation of the power supply cord and plug
are in good condition and show no signs of aging
(brittleness), wear or damage.
– Replace the Smart Garden Hub if its power supply
cord or plug is damaged.
– Replace all worn or pierced grommets.
– Check the power supply cord and plug
regularly for damage. If they become
damaged, immediately disconnect from
the electrical outlet. Never use a
damaged power supply cord or plug.
– Do not abrade, crush, jerk, or otherwise
abuse or misuse the power supply cord
or plug. Protect them from heat, oil and
sharp edges.
– If the power supply cord or plug becomes
damaged, replace the Smart Garden
Hub.
– Always disconnect the Smart Garden
Hub from the electrical outlet at the end
of the watering season and before
carrying out any inspection, cleaning or
maintenance on the unit.
– Never yank or jerk the power supply cord
to disconnect. To unplug, grasp the plug,
not the power supply cord.
– Make sure the power supply cord is

7 Before Starting Installation
7.1 Preparing the Smart Garden Hub for Installation
To prepare the Smart Garden Hub for installation:
► Select a location and mount the Smart Garden Hub to the
wall, @ 9.2.
► Connect irrigation valves to the Smart Garden Hub,
@ 9.3.
► Connect any soil moisture sensors or flow meters, @ 9.4.
► Have any landscape lighting systems connected to the
Smart Garden Hub by a qualified electrician, @ 9.5.
► If installed outdoors, connect the Smart Garden Hub's
power supply cord only to a covered Class A Ground Fault
Circuit Interruptor (GFCI) receptacle that has an
enclosure that is weatherproof with an attachment plug
cap inserted or removed and matches the voltage and
electrical frequency stated on the Smart Garden Hub's
rating plate.
► If installed indoors, connect the Smart Garden Hub to a
properly installed electrical outlet that matches the voltage
and electrical frequency stated on the Smart Garden Hub.
► Download and open the STIHL GCI App. The STIHL GCI
App is available on the App Store
®1
and on Google
Play™.

► Follow the step-by-step instructions for creating your
STIHL GCI App user account.
► Verify your e-mail address and re-open the STIHL GCI
App.
► Follow the step-by-step instructions in the App for
completing the installation process. Initial access data can
be found on the inside of the cover.
► Complete and check the initial installation, @ 9.6.
NOTICE
If the Wi-Fi connection is lost, the Smart Garden Hub will try
to re-establish a connection every 15 minutes. If it is unable
to connect to the Internet within 12 hours, the Smart Garden
Hub will restart and try to connect to the Internet once again.
If the Smart Garden Hub is still unable to connect to the
Internet, a notification will be sent to the registered email
address associated with the unit.
NOTICE
If the internet connection is lost, the Smart Garden Hub will
continue to operate on its existing settings, but it won't
receive weather updates or setting changes. In addition, the
internal clock will not be updated, which may affect the
watering schedule.
8.1 LED Bar on the Smart Garden Hub
An LED bar(1) shows the status of the Smart Garden Hub.
The LED bar can glow or flash green, yellow or red.
If the LED bar is off: The Smart Garden Hub is not connected
to a electrical outlet.
If the LED bar flashes yellow: The Smart Garden Hub is
booting.

9 Installing the Smart Garden Hub
If the LED bar flashes green: The Smart Garden Hub is
trying to establish a wireless network and internet
connection.
If the LED bar flashes green from outside to inside: The
Smart Garden Hub has set up its wireless hotspot to be
configured.
If the LED bar glows green: The Smart Garden Hub is
switched on, connected to the internet and functioning
properly.
If the LED bar glows red: The Smart Garden Hub is not
connected to the internet.
If the LED bar slowly flashes red: Check your e-mail account
for troubleshooting notifications and follow the instructions.
If the LED bar does not start to glow green within 20 minutes
again, disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical
outlet and contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
For troubleshooting information, @ 11.
9.1 Removing and Mounting the Cover
9.1.1 Removing the Cover
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock, make sure the Smart
Garden Hub is not plugged into the electrical socket when
removing the cover. Take care not to damage the
electronics.
To remove the cover:
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical
outlet.
► Remove the four screws (1) and remove the cover (3).
► Avoid touching the electronics (2).
9.1.2 Mounting the Cover
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock, make sure the Smart
Garden Hub is not plugged into the electrical socket when
removing the cover.
To mount the cover:
► Make sure that the rubber seal (1) is not damaged and is
firmly seated in the housing.

► Attach the cover (2) and tighten down all four screws (3)
until the cover is firmly attached.
9.2 Mounting the Smart Garden Hub on a Wall
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock and other personal injury
or property damage when mounting the Smart Garden Hub,
ensure that no electrical cables, pipes or other service lines
run behind the wall where the Smart Garden Hub is to be
mounted, @ 5.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of injury during installation and operation,
read and follow the safety precautions and instructions in
this manual, @ 5. To reduce the risk of eye injury, always
wear close-fitting protective eyewear when mounting the
Smart Garden Hub.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, install the Smart
Garden Hub at least one (1) foot off the ground and ensure
that there is no risk that it may be immersed in water or other
liquids. Always install the Smart Garden Hub on a stable
surface.
WARNING
Do not mount the Smart Garden Hub on a combustible
surface or in a location where combustible gases, liquids,
vapors, dusts or other materials and substances are
present, @ 5.
When mounting, ensure that no electrical cables, pipes or
other service lines run in the wall behind the Smart Garden
Hub.
To mount the Smart Garden Hub to a wall:
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical
outlet.
► Select a mounting location near the sprinkler valve lines,
within 6 ft. (1.8 m) of an electrical outlet that also receives
a strong signal from your WiFi network.
► Remove the cover, @ 9.1.1.
► Always install the Smart Garden Hub at least one foot off
the ground and never in any location where it could be
immersed in water or other liquids.
► Use appropriate screw-in wall anchors or other similar
mounting devices if an appropriate wall stud is not
available.
► Align the Smart Garden Hub as shown above. Mount to a
wall with the following dimensions:
– a = minimum 1 ft. (30 cm)
– b = minimum 7.6 in. (20 cm)
– c = 6.3 in. (16 cm)

► Push the sealing plugs (1) into the holes.
► Mount the cover, @ 9.1.2.
9.3 Connecting Irrigation Valves
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock, make sure the Smart
Garden Hub is not plugged into the electrical socket when
removing the cover.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock, fire and explosion, make sure you only
connect irrigation valves with an output voltage of 24 V (AC)
and current of maximum 250 mA to the Smart Garden Hub.
To connect irrigation valves:
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical
outlet.
► Remove the cover, @ 9.1.1.
► Combine all irrigation valve ground wires of V1 to V16 to
one ground wire (3, COM) outside the Smart Garden Hub,
e.g. using the luster terminal in your valve box.
► Separately wrap the individual wires of the valves (1) and
the combined ground wire (3) in water-tight and dust-tight
cable sheathing. The cable sheeting (2) must be round
and have a diameter of 0.2 in. to 0.4 in.(5 mm to 10 mm).

9 Installing the Smart Garden Hub
► Carefully push the irrigation valves' combined control
wires (2) and ground wire (3) through different grommets
(7) without touching the electronics (5), electric
connection cover (4) or cable (6). Always guide through
the grommet closest to the control line and ground wire.
► Carefully tear off the remnants (arrow) of the punctured
grommets (7) by hand.
► Pull the wires back a few inches so that the grommet is
turned outwards in order to ensure water tightness.
► Use a suitable tool (e.g. a wire stripper) to strip a = 0.2 in.
(5 mm) from the end and twist the wire strands of each

► Connect the control wire (11) to the selected
terminal (10).
► Press firmly to ensure that the connection is secure and
will not come loose in the event of any subsequent
movement.
► Tighten the screw.
► Repeat the process for each irrigation valve.
NOTICE
The connection V16 is always active at the same time, if one
of the connections V1 to V15 is active.
► Loosen the screws (12) of both "COM" marked
terminals (13 and 14).
► Connect the ground wires to the respective "COM"
marked terminal.
► Press firmly to ensure that the connections are secure and
will not come loose in the event of any subsequent
movement.
► Tighten the screws.
► Mount the cover, @ 9.1.1.
9.4 Connecting Sensors or Flow Meters
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock, make sure the Smart
Garden Hub is not plugged into the electrical socket when
removing the cover.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of short circuit, which could lead to
electric shock and fire, make sure you only connect sensors
with a maximum input voltage of 5 V (DC) to the Smart
Garden Hub.

9 Installing the Smart Garden Hub
To connect sensors or flow meters:
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical
outlet.
► Combine all sensor ground lines to one ground line (4,
GND) outside the Smart Garden Hub, e.g. using a luster
terminal.
► Combine all sensor supply lines to one supply line (3,
VCC) outside the Smart Garden Hub, e.g. using a luster
terminal.
► Separately wrap the individual sensor control lines (1), the
combined ground line (4) and the combined supply line (3)
in water-tight and dust-tight cable sheathing. The cable
sheeting (2) must be round and have a diameter of 0.2 in.
to 0.4 in.(5 mm to 10 mm).
► Remove the cover, @ 9.1.1.
► Carefully push the sensor‘s combined control lines (2),
ground wire (4) and supply wire (3) through different
grommets (8) without touching the electronics (6), electric
connection cover (5) or cable (7). Always guide through
the grommet closest to the control line, ground wire and
supply line.
► Carefully tear off the remnants (arrow) of the punctured
grommets (8) by hand.
► Pull the wires back a few inches so that the grommet is
turned outwards in order to ensure water tightness.

► Use a suitable tool (e.g. a wire stripper) to strip a = 0.2 in.
(5 mm) from the end and twist the wire strands of each
line.
► STIHL recommends to crimp the wire strands with
appropriate wire-end ferrules (9) with insulating collar
meeting the requirements of your valves' wire diameter.
► Select a terminal port from S1 to S3 you want the sensor
to be connected to.
► Loosen the screw (10).
► Connect the control line (12) to the selected terminal (11).
► Press firmly to ensure that the connection is secure and
will not come loose in the event of any subsequent
movement.
► Tighten the screw.
► Repeat the process for every sensor.
► Loosen the screw (13) of the "GND" marked terminal (14).

► Connect the supply line (19) to the "5V" marked terminal.
► Press firmly to ensure that the connections are secure and
will not come loose in the event of any subsequent
movement.

► Mount the cover, @ 9.1.2.
9.5 Connecting Landscape Lighting Systems
WARNING
To reduce the risk of serious or fatal injury or property
damage, have landscape lighting systems connected only
by a qualified electrician.
To connect landscape lighting systems, an external relay is
required. The STIHL GCI Smart Garden Hub supports relays
with a coil rating of 24 V (AC) and a maximum current of
250 mA. The relay used must have a potential-separating,
double insulation between the coil and contact side.
► Have any landscape lighting systems connected to the
Smart Garden Hub by a qualified electrician.
The relay's contact rating should be determined based on
your landscape lighting system voltage and maximum
electrical current.
9.6 Completing and Testing the Initial Installation
WARNING
To reduce the risk of electric shock, make sure the Smart
Garden Hub is not plugged into the electrical socket when
removing the cover. Make sure that the rubber seal is not
damaged and is firmly seated in the housing.
To complete the initial installation if installing the Smart
Garden Hub indoors:
► Secure all lines so that they will not be stepped on, tripped
over, come in contact with sharp objects or otherwise be
subjected to damage or stress.

► Insert the plug (1) into a properly installed electrical
outlet (2) that matches the voltage and electrical
frequency stated on the Smart Garden Hub.
The Smart Garden Hub will turn on and glow yellow for
approximately 30 seconds. Next, the LED bar (3) first
flashes and then glows green as the Smart Garden Hub
will be ready for use.
If the Smart Garden Hub has not been prepared for
operation yet, @ 7.1, the LED bar will start flashing green
first and then flash green from outside to inside. The Smart
Garden Hub is to be configured now.
To complete the initial installation if installing the Smart
Garden Hub outdoors:
► Secure all lines so that they will not be stepped on, tripped
over, come in contact with sharp objects or otherwise be
subjected to damage or stress.
► Insert the plug (1) only into to a properly grounded,
covered Class A GFCI receptacle (2) that has an
enclosure that is weatherproof with the attachment plug
cap inserted or removed and that matches the voltage and
electrical frequency stated on the Smart Garden Hub.
The Smart Garden Hub will turn on and the LED bar (3)
first flashes and then glows green as the Smart Garden
Hub will be ready for use.
If the Smart Garden Hub has not been prepared for
operation yet, @ 7.1, the LED bar will start flashing green
first and then flash green from outside to inside. The Smart
Garden Hub is to be configured now.
To test the initial installation:
► Open the STIHL GCI App.
► Enter your e-mail address and password to sign in.
► In the main menu, select the sub-menu "Status."
► Make sure the indicators "Internet connection" and "App/
cloud" are green. If one indicator is not green, disconnect
the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet and wait
for a few seconds before you reconnect it. Wait a few more
minutes for the boot process to complete.
► Return to the main menu and select "Create new zone."
► Select "Zone 1," and activate the zone with the slider
"Enable zone."
► Program the irrigation time using the slider "Activate
Manually."
This should operate the sprinklers in Zone 1. The initial
response time might take up to one minute. If the
sprinklers in the selected zone are working, Zone 1
successfully passed the test.
► Repeat the process for every other irrigation zone. The
Smart Garden Hub is ready for use.
► If one or more zones are not responding correctly, check
your system wiring and see the troubleshooting guide,
@ 11.

Active Output Ports or Zones
Maximum 3 output ports or zones can be activated at the
same time. If both landscape lighting ports are activated, no
other valve can be activated at the same time.
Examples:
– Master port V16 is activated, two other irrigation zones
between V1 and V15 are activated, landscape lighting L1
or L2 cannot be activated.
– Master port V16 is activated, one other irrigation zone
between V1 and V15 is activated, landscape lighting L1 or
L2 can either be activated.
– No irrigation zone between V1 and V15 is activated,
landscape lighting L1 and L2 can both be activated.
10.1 Inspecting and Maintaining the Smart Garden
Hub
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury always unplug the
Smart Garden Hub before cleaning or inspecting.
To properly care for your Smart Garden Hub:
► Keep the Smart Garden Hub housing and electrical
contacts free from foreign matter.
► Clean the Smart Garden Hub as necessary with a dry
cloth or soft, dry brush.
► Replace worn-out grommets.
► Replace the Smart Garden Hub if the power supply cord
or plug is damaged.
► Have worn, missing or damaged safety labels replaced by
an authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
If you make a warranty claim for a component that has not
been serviced or maintained properly, coverage may be
denied.

11 Troubleshooting Guide
Always disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or
maintenance.
Condition Possible Cause Remedy
The LED bar slowly
flashes red.
The Smart Garden Hub
has a malfunction.
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet and
then reconnect.
► If the LED bar continues to slowly flash red, check your e-mail
account for troubleshooting notifications and follow the
instructions.
► If the LED bar does not start to glow green within 20 minutes
again, disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet
and contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
The LED bar glows red. The Smart Garden Hub is
not correctly connected to
the wireless network or the
wireless network signal is
no longer present.
► Check your wireless network signal and internet connection.
► If you recently changed your WiFi password, update the hub with
the new password in the STIHL GCI App.
If the LED bar is off. The Smart Garden Hub is
not connected to an
electrical outlet.
► If installing the Smart Garden Hub indoors, connect the Smart
Garden Hub to a properly installed electrical outlet that matches
the voltage and electrical frequency stated on the Smart Garden
Hub.
► If installing the Smart Garden Hub outdoors, connect the Smart
Garden Hub to into to a properly grounded, covered Class A GFCI
receptacle that has an enclosure that is weatherproof with the
attachment plug cap inserted or removed and that matches the
voltage and electrical frequency stated on the Smart Garden Hub

If the LED bar is off. The overload cutout has
interrupted the electrical
circuit.
► Reset your overload cutout.
An irrigation valve does
not function properly.
The ground lines or control
lines are not connected
properly.
► Check if the lines are properly connected.
► Disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet.
► Connect the irrigation valve to another irrigation zone (cross
exchange) and manually activate this zone in the STIHL GCI App.
If the irrigation valve still does not function properly, the irrigation
valve may have a malfunction instead of the Smart Garden Hub.
Replace the irrigation valve.
► If any irrigation valve does not function for any irrigation zone,
disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet and
contact your authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
A soil moisture sensor
does not function properly.
The ground lines, control
lines or other lines are not
connected properly.
► Check if the lines are properly connected.
► Ensure that the moisture sensor is properly installed and
configured.
► Spray the sensor with water and test whether the humidity values
in the STIHL GCI App change. The sensor may have a malfunction
instead of the Smart Garden Hub.
► If any sensor does not function for any irrigation zone, disconnect
the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet and contact your
authorized STIHL servicing dealer.
Always disconnect the Smart Garden Hub from the electrical outlet before carrying out any inspection, cleaning or
maintenance.

5.1 Uso previsto
ADVERTENCIA
￭ El Centro de jardín inteligente STIHL GCI 100 ha sido
diseñado para controlar los componentes exteriores
siguientes:
– válvulas de riego con un voltaje de salida de 24 V (CA)
y un consumo máximo de corriente de 250 mA.
– sensores de humedad del suelo con un voltaje máximo
de entrada de 5 V (CC)
– medidores de caudal con un voltaje máximo de entrada
de 5 V (CC)
– sistemas de iluminación de paisajes con un voltaje de
salida de 24 V (CA) y un consumo máximo de corriente
de 250 mA.
￭ El Centro de jardín inteligente controla los componentes
empleando información meteorológica actualizada e
información y señales proporcionadas por los
componentes conectados.
￭ El uso indebido o no autorizado del Centro de jardín
inteligente podría causarle lesiones personales o daños a

5.2 Centro de jardín inteligente
ADVERTENCIA
￭ Para reducir el riesgo de incendios, descargas eléctricas
u otras lesiones personales o daños a la propiedad:
– Lea y respete todas las marcas de precaución del
Centro de jardín inteligente, y todas las
instrucciones de este manual antes de usar el
Centro de jardín inteligente.
– Nunca use un Centro de jardín inteligente dañado o
que no funcione correctamente.
– Si se instala el Centro de jardín inteligente a la
intemperie, conecte el cable de suministro eléctrico
únicamente a un tomacorriente con interruptor de
pérdidas a tierra (GFCI) Categoría A que tenga una
caja que sea impermeable con el enchufe conectado
o desconectado. No use tomacorrientes que solo
sean herméticos cuando tienen la tapa colocada
(cordón de alimentación no enchufado y tapa de

– No haga funcionar el Centro de jardín inteligente
sobre superficies que puedan incendiarse (por
ejemplo, papel, cartón o telas) o en un entorno
combustible.

– No trabaje en un lugar que tenga presentes gases,
líquidos, vapores, polvos u otros materiales
combustibles.
￭ Para reducir el riesgo de descargas eléctricas u otras
lesiones personales o daños a la propiedad al instalar el
Centro de jardín inteligente:
– Asegúrese de que no pasen cables eléctricos,
tuberías u otros conductos de servicio por detrás de
la pared donde se instalará el Centro de jardín
inteligente.
– Monte el Centro de jardín inteligente solo como se
describe en este manual de instrucciones.
– No permita que los niños usen el Centro de jardín
inteligente.
￭ Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones oculares:

6 Mantenimiento, reparación y almacenamiento
6.1 Advertencias e instrucciones
ADVERTENCIA
￭ El Centro de jardín inteligente no contiene piezas que el
usuario esté autorizado a reparar. Para reducir el riesgo
de incendios, descargas eléctricas u otras lesiones
personales y daños a la propiedad:
– Los usuarios deben efectuar únicamente los
trabajos de mantenimiento y limpieza descritos en
este manual. Los usuarios no deben realizar ningún
otro trabajo de limpieza, mantenimiento o
reparación.
– Siga precisamente las instrucciones de limpieza y
mantenimiento dadas en las secciones
correspondientes de este manual de instrucciones.
– STIHL recomienda que un concesionario de servicio
STIHL autorizado efectúe todos los trabajos de
reparación.
– Dele mantenimiento o reemplace las etiquetas de
advertencia y de instrucciones según sea necesario.
￭ El uso de componentes no autorizados o no aprobados
por STIHL puede causar lesiones graves o mortales y

7.1 Preparación del Centro de jardín inteligente
parala instalación
Preparación del Centro de jardín inteligente para la
instalación:
► Seleccione una ubicación y monte el Centro de jardín
inteligente en la pared, @ 9.2.
► Conecte las válvulas de riego al Centro de jardín
inteligente, @ 9.3.
► Conecte los sensores de humedad de suelo o medidores
de caudal, @ 9.4.
► Solicite a un electricista calificado que conecte los
sistemas de iluminación de paisajes al Centro de jardín
inteligente, @ 9.5.
► Si el Centro de jardín inteligente se instalará puertas
afuera, conecte el cordón de alimentación únicamente a
un receptáculo Tipo A con interruptor de pérdidas a tierra
(GFCI) y con tapa que tenga una caja impermeable que
tenga un enchufe con tapón insertado o retirado y cuyo
voltaje y frecuencia coincidan con los valores indicados
en la chapa de información del Centro de jardín
inteligente.
6 Mantenimiento, reparación y
almacenamiento
– Siempre desconecte el Centro de jardín
inteligente del tomacorriente al final de la
temporada de riego y antes de realizar
alguna tarea de inspección, limpieza o
mantenimiento de la máquina.

8 Diagnóstico de LED
► Si se instalará puertas adentro, conéctelo a un
tomacorriente correctamente instalado, que tenga el
mismo voltaje y frecuencia indicados en el Centro de
jardín inteligente.
► Descargue y abra la aplicación GCI de STIHL. La
aplicación GCI de STIHL se encuentra disponible en la
App Store
®1
y en Google Play™.

► Siga las instrucciones paso por paso para crear su cuenta
de usuario de la aplicación GCI de STIHL.
► Verifique su dirección de email y vuelva a abrir la
aplicación GCI de STIHL.
► Siga las instrucciones dadas en la aplicación para
finalizar el proceso de instalación. Los datos para el
acceso inicial se hallan en el lado interior de la cubierta.
► Finalización y prueba de la instalación inicial, @ 9.6
INDICACIÓN
Si se pierde la conexión de Wi-Fi, el Centro de jardín
inteligente intentará restablecer la conexión cada 15
minutos. Si no logra conectarse con la Internet en un plazo
de 12 horas, el Centro de jardín inteligente se reinicia y
repite el intento de conectarse con la Internet. Si el Centro
de jardín inteligente no logra conectarse con la Internet aún,
se envía una notificación de ello a la dirección de email
asociada con la unidad.
INDICACIÓN
Si se pierde la conexión con Internet, el Centro de jardín
inteligente continuará funcionando con los ajustes
existentes, pero no recibirá actualizaciones del estado del
tiempo ni cambios en los ajustes. Además, el reloj interno no
se actualizará, lo cual podría afectar el horario de riegos.
8.1 Barra de LED en Centro de jardín inteligente
Una barra de LED (1) muestra el estado del Centro de jardín
inteligente. La barra de LED puede encenderse o destellar
en verde, amarillo o rojo.
Si la barra de LED está apagada: El Centro de jardín
inteligente no está conectado a un tomacorriente de pared.
Si la barra de LED destella en amarillo: El Centro de jardín
inteligente se está iniciando.
Si la barra de LED destella en verde: El Centro de jardín
inteligente está tratando de conectarse con una red
inalámbrica y con la Internet.
Si la barra de LED destella en verde desde sus extremos
hacia su centro: El Centro de jardín inteligente ha preparado
su zona Wi-Fi para configurarla.
Si la barra de LED se ilumina en verde: El Centro de jardín
inteligente está encendido, se ha conectado con la Internet
y funciona correctamente.
Si la barra de LED se ilumina en rojo: El Centro de jardín
inteligente no está conectado a la Internet.
Si la barra de LED destella lentamente en rojo: Verifique su
cuenta de email para recibir notificaciones de localización
de averías y siga las instrucciones. Si la barra de LED no se

9.1 Retiro y montaje de la cubierta
9.1.1 Retiro de la cubierta
ADVERTENCIA

que el Centro de jardín inteligente no esté enchufado en el
tomacorriente antes de quitar la cubierta. Procure no dañar
los sistemas electrónicos.
Para quitar la cubierta:
► Desconecte el centro de jardín inteligente del
tomacorriente de pared.
► Saque los cuatro tornillos (1) y quite la cubierta (3).
► Evite tocar los componentes electrónicos (2).
9.1.2 Monte la cubierta del filtro
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga eléctrica, verifique
que el Centro de jardín inteligente no esté enchufado en el
tomacorriente antes de quitar la cubierta.
Para montar la cubierta:
► Compruebe que el burlete de caucho (1) no presente
daños y que esté debidamente asentado en la caja.
► Fije la cubierta (2) y apriete los cuatro tornillos (3) hasta
que la cubierta quede montada firmemente.
9.2 Montaje del Centro de jardín inteligente en una
pared
ADVERTENCIA

Centro de jardín inteligente, compruebe que no haya cables
eléctricos, tuberías u otros tipos de servicios colocados

Para montar el Centro de jardín inteligente en una pared:
► Desconecte el centro de jardín inteligente del
tomacorriente de pared.
► Seleccione un punto de montaje cercano a las tuberías de
las válvulas de los aspersores, a menos de 1,8 m (6 pies)
de un tomacorriente, y donde se reciba una señal fuerte
de la red Wi-Fi.
► Quite la cubierta, @ 9.1.1.
► Siempre instale el Centro de jardín inteligente por lo
menos 30 cm (1 pie) sobre el suelo y nunca en un punto
en el cual pudiera quedar sumergido en agua u otros
líquidos.
► Utilice anclajes de pared roscados adecuados u otros
elementos de montaje similares si no hay montantes
disponibles.
► Alinee el Centro de jardín inteligente de la manera
ilustrada arriba. Realice la instalación en una pared que
tenga las siguientes dimensiones:
– a = 30 cm (1 pie) como mínimo
– b = 20 cm (7,6 pulg) como mínimo

9.3 Conexión de válvulas de riego
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga eléctrica, verifique
que el Centro de jardín inteligente no esté enchufado en el
tomacorriente antes de quitar la cubierta.
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de un cortocircuito que pudiera causar
una sacudida eléctrica, un incendio o una explosión,
cerciórese de solo conectar válvulas de riego con una
tensión de salida de 24 V (CA) y una corriente máxima de
250 mA al Centro de jardín inteligente.
Para conectar válvulas de riego:
► Desconecte el centro de jardín inteligente del
tomacorriente de pared.
► Quite la cubierta, @ 9.1.1.
► Combine todos los cables de tierra de las válvulas V1 a
V16 en un solo cable de tierra (3, COM) fuera del Centro
de jardín inteligente, por ejemplo, utilizando el terminal de
tornillo de la caja de válvulas.
► Envuelva por separado los cables individuales de las
válvulas (1) y el cable combinado de tierra (3) en un forro
a prueba de agua y de polvo. El forro del cable (2) deberá
ser redondo y tener un diámetro de 5 mm a 10 mm
(0,2 pulg a 0,4 pulg).

► Inserte cuidadosamente los cables combinados de
control (2) de las válvulas y de tierra (3) a través de
pasamuros (7) diferentes sin tocar los componentes
electrónicos (5), la cubierta de conexión (4) o el cable (6).
Siempre deberá pasarlos a través del pasamuros que
esté más cerca del cable de control y del cable de tierra.
► Desprenda cuidadosamente el remanente (flecha) de los
pasamuros perforados (7) con la mano.
► Tire de los cables para hacerlos retroceder unos
centímetros, a fin de que el pasamuros quede volteado
hacia fuera para asegurar que el agua no ingrese.
► Utilice una herramienta adecuada (ejemplo, una pinza
para pelar cables) para pelar 5 mm (0,2 pulg) del aislante
en el extremo y retorcer las hebras de las puntas de cada
cable.
► STIHL recomienda engarzar las hebras del cable con
manguitos (8) con un collarín aislado que se ajuste al
diámetro de los cables de las válvulas de su sistema.
► Seleccione un puerto de terminal de V-1 a V-16 al cual
desee conectar la válvula.

Para conectar sensores o medidores de caudal:
► Desconecte el centro de jardín inteligente del
tomacorriente de pared.
► Combine todos los cables de puesta a tierra en un solo
cable de tierra (4, TIERRA) fuera del Centro de jardín
inteligente, por ejemplo, un terminal de tornillos.
► Combine todos los cables de alimentación en un solo
cable de alimentación (3, VCC) fuera del Centro de jardín
inteligente, por ejemplo, un terminal de tornillos.
► Envuelva por separado los cables de control (1)
individuales de sensores, el cable combinado de tierra (4)
y el cable combinado de suministro (3) en un forro a
prueba de agua y de polvo. El forro del cable (2) deberá
ser redondo y tener un diámetro de 5 mm a 10 mm
(0,2 pulg a 0,4 pulg).
► Quite la cubierta, @ 9.1.1.
► Inserte cuidadosamente los cables combinados de
control (2) del sensor, de tierra (4) y de alimentación (3) a
través de pasamuros (8) diferentes sin tocar los
componentes electrónicos (6), la cubierta de conexión (5)
o el cable (7). Siempre deberá pasarlos a través del
pasamuros que esté más cerca del cable de control, del
cable de tierra y del cable de alimentación.
► Desprenda cuidadosamente el remanente (flecha) de los
pasamuros perforados (8) con la mano.
► Tire de los cables para hacerlos retroceder unos
centímetros, a fin de que el pasamuros quede volteado
hacia fuera para asegurar que el agua no ingrese.

para pelar cables) para pelar 5 mm (0,2 pulg) del aislante
en el extremo y retorcer las hebras de las puntas de cada
cable.

manguitos (9) con un collarín aislado que se ajuste al
diámetro de los cables de las válvulas de su sistema.
► Seleccione un puerto de terminal de S1 a S3 al cual desee

9.5 Conexión de sistemas de iluminación de
paisaje
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de lesiones graves o mortales y de
daños a la propiedad, solicite únicamente a un electricista
calificado que conecte el sistema de iluminación de paisaje.
Para conectar los sistemas de iluminación de paisaje se
necesita un relé externo. El Centro de jardín inteligente es
compatible con relés cuyas bobinas tienen una capacidad
nominal de 24 V (CA) y una corriente máxima de 250 mA. El
relé puede usarse deberá estar provisto de un aislante doble
que separe el potencial entre la bobina y los contactos.
► Solicite a un electricista calificado que conecte los
sistemas de iluminación de paisajes al Centro de jardín
inteligente.
La capacidad de los contactos del relé deberá determinarse
según la tensión que utiliza el sistema de iluminación y la
corriente máxima del mismo.
9.6 Finalización y prueba de la instalación inicial
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de una descarga eléctrica, verifique
que el Centro de jardín inteligente no esté enchufado en el
tomacorriente antes de quitar la cubierta. Compruebe que el
burlete de caucho no presente daños y que esté
debidamente asentado en la caja.
Para finalizar la instalación del Centro de jardín inteligente
puertas adentro:
► Ubique todos los cables de modo que no sean pisados,

amarillo por aproximadamente 30 s. A continuación, la
barra de LED (3) destella primero y luego se ilumina en
verde cuando el Centro de jardín inteligente está listo para
usarse.
Si no se ha preparado el Centro de jardín inteligente para el
funcionamiento, @ 7.1, la barra de LED empieza a
destellar en verde primero y luego en verde desde sus
extremos hacia el centro. El Centro de jardín inteligente
deberá configurarse ahora.
Para finalizar la instalación del Centro de jardín inteligente
a la intemperie:
► Ubique todos los cables de modo que no sean pisados,

funcionamiento, @ 7.1, la barra de LED empieza a
destellar en verde primero y luego en verde desde sus
extremos hacia el centro. El Centro de jardín inteligente
deberá configurarse ahora.
Para probar la instalación inicial:
► Abra la aplicación GCI de STIHL.
► Ingrese su dirección de email y su contraseña para abrir
una sesión.
► En el menú principal, seleccione el menú «Estado».
► Compruebe que los indicadores de «Conexión a Internet»
y de «Aplic/nube» se iluminen en verde. Si uno de los
indicadores no se ilumina verde, desconecte el Centro de
jardín inteligente del tomacorriente y espere unos cuantos
segundos antes de volverlo a conectar. Espere unos
cuantos minutos para que finalice el proceso de arranque.
► Regrese al menú principal y seleccione “Crear zona
nueva”.
► Seleccione la “Zona 1” y active la zona con el control
deslizante “Habilitar zona”.
► Programe el tiempo de riego usando el control “Activar
manualmente”.
Esto deberá accionar los aspersores de la Zona 1. El
tiempo de respuesta inicial puede tardar hasta un minuto.
Si los aspersores de la zona seleccionada están
funcionando, la Zona 1 ha pasado la prueba con éxito.
► Repita el proceso con las demás zonas de riego. El
Centro de jardín inteligente está listo para usarse.
► Si una o más de las zonas no responde correctamente,
compruebe el cableado del sistema y consulte la guía de
localización de averías, @ 11.

Puertos de salidas activas o zonas
Se pueden activar hasta 3 puertos de salida o zonas al
mismo tiempo. Si se activan los dos puertos de iluminación
de paisaje, no es posible activar otra válvula al mismo
tiempo.
Ejemplos:
– El Puerto Maestro V16 está activado, dos zonas de riego
adicionales entre V1 y V15 están activadas, la iluminación
de paisaje L1 o L2 no puede activarse.
– El Puerto Maestro V16 está activado, una zona de riego
adicional entre V1 y V15 está activada, se puede activar
la iluminación de paisaje L1 o la L2.
– Ninguna zona de riego entre V1 y V15 está activada, se
pueden activar las dos iluminaciones de paisaje L1 y L2.
10.1 Inspección y mantenimiento del Centro de
jardín inteligente
ADVERTENCIA
Para reducir el riesgo de sufrir lesiones personales, siempre
desenchufe el Centro de jardín inteligente antes efectuar
tareas de limpieza o de inspección.
Para darle cuidado adecuado al Centro de jardín inteligente:
► Mantenga la carcasa y los contactos eléctricos del Centro
de jardín inteligente libres de materias extrañas.
► Efectúe la limpieza necesaria del Centro de jardín
inteligente con un paño seco o con un cepillo suave y
seco.
► Remplace los pasamuros desgastados.
► Reemplace el Centro de jardín inteligente si el cordón
eléctrico o su enchufe se desgasta o daña.
► Si las etiquetas de seguridad están dañadas o faltan,
solicite etiquetas de repuesto a un concesionario de
servicio STIHL autorizado.
Si usted está reclamando cobertura de garantía para algún
componente que no ha sido reparado o mantenido
debidamente, es posible que se deniegue la garantía.

tomacorriente de pared y comuníquese con el concesionario de
STIHL.
