INSTALLATION
The Powerware 9125 UPS is designed for flexible configurations and can
be installed in a rack or as a standalone cabinet.
If you are installing the UPS in a rack, continue to the following section
“Rack-Mount Setup;” otherwise, continue to “Cabinet Setup” on
page 2.
Rack-Mount Setup
The UPS can be installed in 19- or 23-inchracks and needs only 2U of
valuable rack space.
NOTE Mountingrailsarerequiredforeachcabinet.Ifrailsarenotalreadyinstalledin
yourrack, contactyourlocaldistributorto ordera railkit.
Use the following procedure to install the UPS in a rack:
1. Place the UPS on a flat, stable surface with the front of the UPS
facing toward you.
2. Attach the mounting handles to the bracket with the screws
provided in the accessory kit (see Figure 1).
3. Align the mounting brackets with the screw holes on the side of
the UPS and secure with the supplied screws (see Figure 1).
4. If installing optional Extended Battery Modules (EBMs), repeat
Steps 1 through3 for each cabinet.

5. Slide the UPS and any optional EBMs into the rack. Continue to
“Installing the UPS” on page 4 to complete the installation.

Cabinet Setup
You can position the UPS cabinets horizontally or vertically. When
positioning the cabinets horizontally, the EBMs must be placed below
theUPS(seeFigure3).

When a single UPS cabinet is positioned vertically, the UPS stands must
be attached to the bottom of the cabinet tower:
1. Place the UPS horizontally, so that the left end of the unit is
accessible.
2. Slide and position the UPS stands over the end of the unit so
that the weight of the UPS is evenly distributed (see Figure 5).
Secure the stands with the screws provided in the accessory kit.

3. Carefully position the unit upright on the UPS stands (see
Figure 6).

Installing the UPS
The following steps explain how to install the UPS. Figure 8 shows a
typical installation only. See “UPS Rear Panels” onpage 8 for the rear
panel of each model.
CAUTION
Asmallamount ofarcingmayoccur whenconnecting anExtendedBatteryModule to
theUPS.Thisisnormalandwillnotharmpersonnel.InserttheEBMcableintotheUPS
batteryconnector quickly and firmly.
NOTE Donot make unauthorized changes tothe UPS;otherwise,damage mayoccur
to your equipment andvoid yourwarranty.
1. If installing an optional EBM, continue to Step 2; otherwise,
skip to Step 8.
Steps 2–4 are not required for rack-mount installations.
2. Remove the adjacent corner screws from the rear panels as
shown in Figure 7 to install the EBM brackets.
3. Align each EBM bracket with the screw holes and secure with
the screws removed in Step 2.

4. If installing additional EBMs, repeat Steps 2 and 3 for each
cabinet.

5. Plug the EBM cable into the battery connector on the UPS rear
panel (see Figure 8).
6. If additional EBMs are to be installed, plug the EBM cable of the
second cabinet into the battery connector on the first EBM.
Repeat for each additional EBM. Up to four EBMs may be
connected to the UPS.

7. Verify that the AS/400 and other equipment to be protected by
the UPS is powered off.
8. Connect one of the supplied communication cables to the UPS
communication port according to your computer system:
For the AS/400. Use the supplied AS/400 communication cable.
The “AS/400” end of the cable connects to the port marked
“J14” or “UPS”on the AS/400 rear panel.
For the RS/6000. If you are installing power management
software, use the supplied RS/6000 communication cable.
For PCs and workstations. Use the communication cable
supplied with the power management software CD.
9. Plug your equipment into the appropriate UPS output
receptacles using the equipment power cords supplied with the
UPS.
NOTE Ifyou areusing the Load Segment feature,seethe
Powerware9125 User’s
Guide
for more informationon controlling and assigning the load segments.
DO NOT protect laser printers with the UPS because of the
exceptionally high power requirements of the heating elements.
10. Turn on the equipment that is connected to the UPS.
11. Plug the power cord from the UPS into a power outlet.
For 230V models (including P11 and P16). Use the AS/400 or RS/6000
power cord to connect the UPS to the power outlet.
All front panel indicators flash briefly and the UPS conducts a
self-test.
When the self-test is complete, the
indicator flashes,
indicating the UPS is in Standby mode with the equipment
offline.

12. Start the UPS by pressing the On button. The indicator
stops flashing and the bar graph indicators display the
percentage of load being applied to the UPS.
The UPS is now in Normal mode and supplying power to your
equipment.
NOTE The batteries charge to80% capacityin approximately2 hours. However, it is
recommended thatthe batteriescharge for24 hoursafter installationor long-term
storage.
13. Forthe AS/400. Set the QUPSDLYTIM system value for the UPS
Monitoring feature.
UPS Monitoring
UPS monitoring is a standard feature of the AS/400 operating system.
QUPSDLYTIM is a timer in the AS/400 that tells the system how long to
run on UPS power before shutting down. Each AS/400 system is initially
assigned a default value for QUPSDLYTIM. A complete description of
QUPSDLYTIM is provided on the AS/400 Information Center Internet
Site at

CAUTION
*NOMAX tellsthe AS/400 touse customized shutdownsoftware,and if noneis

INSTALLATION
L’onduleur UPS Powerware 9125 s’adapte à diverses configurations et
peut être installé en baie ou en tant qu’unité autonome.
Si vous installez l’onduleur UPS dans une baie, poursuivez avec la
rubrique ci-dessous “Configuration en baie;” sinon, passez à la rubrique
“Configuration autonome” à la page 12.
Configuration en baie
L’onduleur UPS peut être installé dans une baie de 19 ou 23 pouces et
n’occupe que 2 pouces d’espace utile dans la baie.
REMARQUE Desrailsde montagesont nécessairespour chaque unité.Sivotre baie
n’est pasdéjàéquipéede rails, contactezvotredistributeur localpour luicommander
un ensemble de rails.
Procédez comme suit pour installer l’onduleur UPS dans une baie:
1. Posez l’onduleur sur une surface plane et stable, en plaçant
l’avant de l’onduleur face à vous.
2. Fixez les poignées de montage aux supports de fixation à l’aide
des vis fournies avec les accessoires (voir Figure 11).
3. Alignez les supports de fixation avec les trous pour vis sur la
face latérale de l’onduleur et fixez les supports à l’aide des vis
fournies (voir Figure 11).
4. Si vous installez des modules de batterie étendus (EBM)
optionnels, répétez les étapes 1 à 3 pour chaque unité.

Configuration autonome

verticalement. En cas de disposition horizontale, les modules EBM

Si une seule unité UPS est placée verticalement, les supports pour
onduleur UPS doivent être fixés sous l’unité:
1. Placez l’onduleur UPS horizontalement de telle manière que
l’extrémité gauche de l’unité soit accessible.
2. Insérez les supports aux extrémités de l’unité et positionnez-les
de sorte que le poids de l’onduleur soit réparti équitablement
(voir Figure 15). Fixez les supports à l’aide des vis fournies avec
les accessoires.

3. Redressez prudemment l’unité et faites-la reposer sur ses
supports (voir Figure 16).

Installation de l’onduleur UPS
Les instructions qui suivent décrivent la manière d’installer l’onduleur
UPS. La Figure 18 n’est qu’un exemple type d’installation. Voir la
rubrique “Panneaux arrières de l’onduleur UPS” à la page 18 pour une
description du panneau arrière de chaque modèle.
ATTENTION!
Laconnexiond’unModuledebatterieétenduàl’onduleurUPSpeutproduirequelques
étincelles.Ceci est normal etne présente aucun danger pourlepersonnel.Insérez
fermement,d’un gestesec,le câbleEBM dansleconnecteur pour batterie de
l’onduleurUPS.
REMARQUE Evitez d’apporter unequelconquemodification nonautoriséeà
l’onduleurUPS;vousrisqueriez d’endommagerl’équipementet d’annuler la garantie.
1. Si vous installez des modules EBM optionnels, passez à
l’étape 2; sinon, passez à l’étape Step 8.
Les étapes 2–4 sont superflues dans le cas d’un montage en
baie.
2. Enlevez les vis adjacentes situées dans les coins des panneaux
arrières comme illustré à la Figure 17 afin d’installer les pattes
de fixation EBM.

3. Alignez chaque patte de fixation EBM avec les trous pour vis et
fixez-la à l’aide des vis enlevées lors de l’étape 2.
4. Si vous installez des modules EBM optionnels, répétez les
étapes 2 et 3 pour chaque unité.

5. Branchez le câble EBMsur le connecteur pour batterie du
panneau arrière de l’onduleur UPS (voir Figure 18).
6. Si d’autres modules EBM doivent être installés, branchez le
câble EBM de la deuxième unité sur le connecteur pour batterie
dupremiermoduleEBM.Faitesdemêmepourchaquemodule
EBM supplémentaire. On peut connecter jusqu’à quatre
modules EBM à l’onduleur UPS.

7. Assurez-vous que l’AS/400 et les autres appareils que doit
protéger l’onduleur UPS sont hors tension.
8. Connectez l’un des câbles de communication fournis au port de
communication de l’onduleur UPS en fonction de votre système
informatique:
Pour l’AS/400. Utilisez le câble de communication AS/400 qui
est fourni. L’extrémité “AS/400” du câble doit être connectée
au port intitulé “J14” ou “UPS” sur le panneau arrière de
l’AS/400.
Pour le RS/6000. Si vous installez un logiciel de gestion
d’alimentation, utilisez le câble de communication RS/6000
qui est fourni.
Pour PC et postes de travail. Utilisez le câble de communication
fourni avec le CD du logiciel de gestion d’alimentation.
9. Raccordez vos appareils aux prises de sortie correspondantes de
l’onduleur UPS à l’aide des cordons d’alimentation pour
appareils fournis avec l’onduleur UPS.
REMARQUE Si vous utilisez les segmentsde chargement,veuillez vous référer au
Powerware9125 User’sGuide
pour plusd’informationssurlecontrôleet l’attribution
dessegmentsdechargement.
NE PAS protéger les imprimantes laser avec l’onduleur UPS, car
les besoins en énergie des éléments chauffants sont
exceptionnellement élevés.
10. Allumez les appareils connectés à l’onduleur UPS.
11. Branchez le cordon d’alimentation de l’UPS sur une prise
secteur.
Pour les modèles 230V (dont P11 et P16). Utilisez le cordon
d’alimentation AS/400 ou RS/6000 pour connecter l’onduleur
UPS à la prise secteur.
Tous les indicateurs du panneau avant clignotent brièvement et
l’onduleur UPS exécute un auto-test.
Une fois l’auto-test terminé, l’indicateur
clignote, indiquant
que l’onduleur UPS est en mode Standby (Attente),
l’équipement étant hors ligne.

12. Mettez l’onduleur UPS en marche en appuyant sur le
Bouton
On (marche). L’indicateur arrête de clignoter et
les indicateurs à barres montrent le pourcentage de charge
appliquée à l’onduleur UPS.
L’onduleur UPS se trouve alors enmode Normal et alimente vos
appareils.
REMARQUE Lesbatteriesse chargent à80% de leur capacité en 2heuresenviron.
Toutefois,ilestrecommandédelaisser chargerlesbatteriespendant 24heuresaprès
l’installation ou après lesavoirrangéespendant une longue période.
13. Pour l’AS/400. Réglez la valeur système QUPSDLYTIM pour la
fonction de surveillance de l’onduleur UPS.
Surveillance de l’onduleur UPS
La fonction de surveillance de l’onduleur UPS est présente en standard
dans le système d’exploitation de l’AS/400. QUPSDLYTIM est un
temporisateur intégré à l’AS/400 qui indique au système pendant
combien de temps il doit fonctionner sur l’alimentation de l’UPS avant
de se mettre à l’arrêt. Dans chaque système AS/400, une valeur par
défaut est assignée initialement à QUPSDLYTIM. Vous trouverez une

ATTENTION!
*NOMAX indique à l’AS/400 d’utiliser un logiciel de mise à l’arrêt adapté;siaucun
logiciel de ce type n’est disponible,illanceralamise àl’arrêtimmédiatementsi
l’alimentationélectrique est défaillante. Avant dedonner àQUPSDLYTIM lavaleur
“*NOMAX”,assurez-vousde bien comprendre lesimplicationsde la fonction

INSTALLATION
Die USV Powerware 9125 ist für flexible Konfigurationen ausgelegt und
kann in einem Gestell oder als eigenständiger Schrank installiert
werden.
Installieren Sie die USV in einem Gestell, fahren Sie mit dem folgenden
Abschnitt, “Montage im Gestell”, fort, andernfalls fahren Sie bei
“Montage im Schrank” auf Seite 22 fort.
Montage im Gestell
Die USV kann in 19- oder 23-Zoll-Gestellen eingebaut werden und
benötigt nur 2 Einheiten des wertvollen Gestellplatzes.
HINWEIS FürjedenSchranksindBefestigungsschienen erforderlich.Falls noch keine
SchieneninIhrGestelleingebautsind, wendenSie sichan IhrenörtlichenHändler,um
einenSchienensatzzu bestellen.
Gehen Sie zum Installieren der USV in einem Gestell nach folgendem
Verfahren vor:
1. Die USV auf einer flachen, stabilen Fläche so abstellen, daß die
Vorderseite der USV Ihnen gegenüberliegt.
2. Die Montagegriffe mit den im Zubehörsatz gelieferten
Schrauben an der Halterung anbringen (siehe Abbildung 21).
3. Die Halterungen nachden Schraubenlöchern auf der Seite der
USV ausrichten und mit den mitgelieferten Schrauben sichern
(siehe Abbildung 21).
4. Beim Einbau von Erweiterte Batteriemodule (EBM) für jeden
Schrank die Schritte 1 bis 3 wiederholen.

Wenn ein einzelner USV-Schrank vertikal positioniert wird, müssen die
USV-Ständer unten am Schrankturm angebracht werden:
1. Die USV horizontal plazieren, so daß das linke Ende des
Schranks zugänglich ist.
2. Die USV-Ständer über das Ende des Schranks schieben und so
positionieren, daß das Gewicht der USV gleichmäßig verteilt ist
(siehe Abbildung 25). Die Ständer mit den im Zubehörsatz
gelieferten Schrauben sichern.

3. Den Schrank auf den USV-Ständern vorsichtig aufrichten(siehe
Abbildung 26).

Installieren der USV
In den folgenden Schritten wird die Installation der USV beschrieben.
Abbildung 28 zeigt lediglich eine typische Installation. Die Rückwand
jedes Modells ist unter “USV-Rückwände” auf Seite 28 dargestellt.

1. Wird ein optionales EBM installiert, bei Schritt 2 fortfahren,
andernfalls bei Schritt 8 fortfahren.
Die Schritte 2–4 sind nicht erforderlich, wenn die Installation in
einem Gestell erfolgt.
2. Die Schrauben der aneinanderliegenden Ecken aus der
Rückwand herausdrehen, wie in Abbildung 27 dargestellt ist,
um die EBM-Halterungen einzubauen.
3. Jede EBM-Halterung nach den Schraubenlöchern ausrichten
und mit den in Schritt 2 herausgedrehten Schrauben sichern.

4. Beim Einbau von zusätzlichen EBM für jeden Schrank die
Schritte 2 und 3 wiederholen.

5. Das EBM-Kabel in den Batterieanschluß in der Rückwand der

6. Sollen zusätzliche EBM installiert werden, das EBM-Kabel des
zweiten Schranks in den Batterieanschluß des ersten EBM
einstecken. Für jedes weitere EBM wiederholen. An die USV
können bis zu vier EBM angeschlossen werden.

7. Überprüfen, daß AS/400 und andere Geräte, die durch die USV
zu schützen sind, ausgeschaltet sind.
8. Eines der mitgelieferten Datenübertragungskabel gemäß Ihrem
Computersystem an den Datenübertragungsanschluß der USV
anschließen:
Für AS/400. Das mitgelieferte AS/400 Datenübertragungskabel
verwenden. Das “AS/400”-seitige Kabelende wird in der
Rückwand des AS/400 an den Anschluß mit der
Kennzeichnung “J14” oder “USV” angeschlossen.
Für RS/6000. Wenn Sie eine Leistungsmanagement-Software
installieren, das mitgelieferte AS/6000
Datenübertragungskabel verwenden.
Für PCs und Workstations. Das mit der CD für die
Leistungsmanagement-Software ausgelieferte
Datenübertragungskabel verwenden.
9. Mit den Gerätestromkabeln, die mit der USV mitgeliefert
wurden, Ihre Geräte an die entsprechenden Ausgangsbuchsen
der USV anschließen.

Laserdrucker wegen des außerordentlich hohen
Leistungsbedarfs der Heizelemente NICHT mit der USV
schützen.
10. Die andie USV angeschlossenen Geräte einschalten.
11. Das Netzkabel von der USV in eine Netzsteckdose stecken.
Für 230 V Modelle (einschließlich P11 und P16) das AS/400- oder
RS-6000-Netzkabel verwenden zum Anschluß der USV.
Alle Anzeigeleuchten auf der Frontplatte blinken kurz, und die
USV führt eine Eigenprüfung durch.
Nach Abschluß der Eigenprüfung blinkt die Anzeige
,was
bedeutet, daß die USV bei offline geschalteten Geräten im
Bereitschaftsmodus ist.

12. Die USV durch Drücken der On button starten. Die Anzeige
hört auf zu blinken, und die Balkengraphik-Anzeigen geben
den Prozentsatz der Last an, der die USV ausgesetzt ist.
Die USV ist nun im Normalbetrieb und liefert Strom an Ihre
Geräte.
HINWEIS DieBatterienwerdeninca.2Stundenauf80% ihrerKapazität geladen.Es
wird jedoch empfohlen,nachdem Einbauen oder nach langer Lagerung die Batterien
24 Stunden zuladen.
13. FürAS/400. Den Systemwert QUPSDLYTIM für die
USV-Überwachungsfunktion einstellen.
USV-Überwachung
Die USV-Überwachung ist ein Standard-Leistungsmerkmal des
Betriebssystems AS/400. QUPSDLYTIM ist ein Zeitgeber im AS/400, der
dem System mitteilt, wie lange es mit USV-Strom betrieben werden soll,
bevor es sich abschaltet. Jedem AS/400-System ist ursprünglich ein
Standardwert für QUPSDLYTIM zugewiesen. Eine vollständige

INSTALLAZIONE
La Powerware 9125 UPS è progettata per configurazioni flessibili e può
essere installata in rastrelliera o come armadio autonomo.
Se si sta installando la UPS in rastrelliera, continuare con la sezione
seguente “Allestimento montaggio su rastrelliera;” altrimenti continuare
con “Allestimento armadio” a pagina 32.
Allestimento montaggio su rastrelliera
La UPS può essere installata in rastrelliere da 19-23 pollici e necessita
solo di 2U di spazio utile di rastrelliera.
NOTA Per ogniarmadiooccorrono rastrelliere dimontaggio. Se non sono state
montatecorsie sulla rastrelliera,contattare ildistributore locale perordinare unkit
corsie.
Per installare la UPS su rastrelliera, procedere come segue:
1. Collocare la UPS su superficie piana e stabile con il lato
anteriore della UPS davanti all’operatore.
2. Fissare le maniglie di montaggio alla staffa con le viti fornite
con il kit accessori (vedere Figura 31).
3. Allineare le staffe di montaggio ai fori delle viti della UPS ed
applicare le viti fornite (vedere Figura 31).
4. Se si stanno installando Modulo esteso batterias (EBM)

Se un singolo armadio UPS è posizionato in verticale, i supporti UPS
dovranno essere fissati sul fondo della torretta dell’armadio:
1. Collocare la UPS in orizzontale, in modo che l’estremità sinistra
dell’unità sia accessibile.
2. Far scorrere e posizionare i supporti UPS al di sopra
dell’estremità dell’unità, in modo che il peso della UPS sia
distribuito uniformemente (vedere Figura 35). Fissare i
supporti con le viti fornite con il kit accessori.

7. Verificare che l’AS/400 e l’altra attrezzatura protetta dalla UPS
siano scollegate.
8. Collegare uno dei cavi di comunicazione forniti alla porta di
comunicazione UPS in conformità al computer disponibile:
Perl’AS/400. Usare il cavo di comunicazione AS/400 fornito.
L’estremità “AS/400” del cavo si collega alla porta marcata
“J14” o “UPS” sul pannello posteriore dell’AS/400.
Perl’RS/6000. Se si sta installando un software di gestione
alimentazione, utilizzare il cavo di comunicazione RS/6000
fornito.
Per PC e workstation. Usare il cavo di comunicazione fornito
con il CD software gestione alimentazione.
9. Collegare l’attrezzatura alle prese d’uscita UPS utilizzando i cavi
d’alimentazione attrezzatura forniti con la UPS.

NON proteggere le stampanti laser con la UPS a causa dei
requisiti di potenza eccezionalmente alti degli elementi
riscaldanti.
10. Accendere l’attrezzatura collegata alla UPS.
11. Collegare il cavo d’alimentazione UPS in una presa
d’alimentazione.
Per modelli 230 V (compresi P11 e P16). Usare il cavo alimentazione
AS/400 o RS/6000 per collegare la UPS alla presa
d’alimentazione.
Tutte le spie del pannello anteriore lampeggiano per qualche
secondo e la UPS esegue un self-test.
Una volta eseguito il self-test, la spia
ilampeggia per
segnalare che la UPS è in modalità di Standby con l’attrezzatura
noninlinea.

12. Avviare la UPS premendo il Acceso pulsante. La spia
smette di lampeggiare e le spie diagramma a barre visualizzano
la percentuale di carico applicato alla UPS.
La UPS si trova ora in modalità Normale e fornisce
alimentazione all’attrezzatura.
NOTA Le batterie caricano ad unacapacitàdel 80%in circa 2ore. Si raccomanda
tuttaviachecarichinoper 24ore dopol’installazione o magazzinaggioalungotermine.
13. Per l’AS/400. Impostare il valore del sistema QUPSDLYTIM per la
funzione di monitoraggio UPS.
Monitoraggio UPS
Il monitoraggio UPS è una funzione standard del sistema operativo
AS/400.QUPSDLYTIM è untimerincorporato nell’AS/400che informa il
sistema sulla durata di funzionamento in alimentazione UPS prima
dell’arresto. A ciascun sistema AS/400 viene inizialmente assegnato un
valore di default per QUPSDLYTIM. Descrizione completa del

INSTALACIÓN
El SIE Powerware 9125 está diseñado para configuraciones flexibles y se
puede instalar en un bastidor o en un gabinete independiente.
Si está instalando el SIE en un bastidor, continúe con la siguiente
sección “Configuración de montaje de bastidor;” de lo contrario,
continúe con“Configuración del gabinete” en la página 42.
Configuración de montaje de bastidor
El SIE se puede instalar en bastidores de 19 ó 23 pulg. (48.26 cm. ó
58.42 cm.) y solamente necesitan 2 U de espacio disponible en el
bastidor.
NOTA Se requieren rielesde montaje paracada gabinete.Silosrielesno están
instaladosen su bastidor,comuníquese con su distribuidor localpara pedir unkit de
rieles.
Utilice el siguiente procedimiento para instalar el SIE en el bastidor.
1. Coloque el SIE en una superficie plana y estable con la parte
frontal del SIE hacia usted.
2. Sujete los soportes de montaje al soporte con los tornillos
incluidos en el kit de accesorios (consulte la Figura 41).
3. Alinee los soportes de montaje con los agujeros de tornillo en el
lado del SIE y asegure con los tornillos incluidos (consulte la
Figura 41).
4. Si instala Módulo de batería extendidas (EBM) opcionales,
repita los Pasos del 1 al 3 para cada gabinete

Cuando se coloca en forma vertical un gabinete de SIE individual, las
plataformas del SIE deben estar sujetadas a la torre del gabinete:
1. Coloque el SIE en forma horizontal, para que el extremo
izquierdo de la unidad esté accesible.
2. Deslice y coloque las plataformas del SIE sobre el extremo de la
unidad de manera que el peso del SIE se distribuya
uniformemente (consulte la Figura 45). Asegure las plataformas
con los tornillos que se incluyen en el kit de accesorios.

3. Coloque cuidadosamente la unidad hacia arriba en las
plataformas del SIE (consulte la Figura 46).

Instalación del SIE
Los siguientes pasos describen cómo instalar el SIE, la Figura 48
muestra únicamente una instalación normal. Consulte “Paneles

modelo.

1. Si se instala un EBMopcional, siga conel paso 2; de lo
contrario, diríjase al paso 8.
Los pasos del 2 al 4 no se necesitan para instalaciones en
montajedebastidor.
2. Retire los tornillos de la esquina adyacente de los paneles
posteriores que se muestran en la Figura 47 para instalar los
soportes de EBM.

3. Alinee cada una de las abrazaderas de EBM con los orificios de
tornillo y asegúrelos con los tornillos que quitó en el paso 2.
4. Si está instalando EBM adicionales, repita los pasos 2 y 3 para
cada gabinete.

5. Conecte el cable del EBM en el conector de la batería en el
panel posterior del SIE (consulte la Figura 48).
6. Si va a instalar EBM opcionales, conecte el cable del EBMdel
segundo gabinete en el conector de la batería del primer EBM.
Repita el procedimiento para cada EBM adicional. Puede
conectar hasta cuatro EBM al SIE.

7. Verifique que se encuentren apagados el AS/400 y cualquier
otro equipo que se desee proteger con el SIE.
8. Conecte uno de los cables de comunicación que le fueron
suministrados al puerto de comunicaciones del SIE, según el
sistema de su computadora:
Para el AS/400. Utilice el cable de comunicación para AS/400
que se le suministró. El extremo del “AS/400” del cable se
conecta al puerto marcado como “J14” o “UPS (SIE)” en el
panel posterior del AS/400.
Para RS/6000. Si está instalando el software de administración
de energía, utilice el cable de comunicación RS/6000 que se
proporciona.
Para las PC y estaciones de trabajo. Utilice el cable de
comunicación que se le suministró con el CD del software de
administración de energía.
9. Conecte el equipo a los receptáculos de salida adecuados en el
SIE o los receptáculos de PDU por medio de los cables de
potencia que se suministraron con el SIE.
NOTA Si está utilizando la característica deCargar segmento,consulte la
Powerware9125 User’sGuide
para obtenermásinformaciónsobre cómocontrolary
asignar lossegmentosde carga.
NO proteja impresoras láser con el SIE, pues tienen requisitos
de potencia excepcionalmente altos para los elementos de
calentamiento.
10. Encienda el equipo que se encuentra conectado al SIE.
11. Conecte el cable de potencia del SIE en un tomacorriente de
alimentación.
Para modelos de 230V (incluyendo el P11 y el P16). Utilize el cable de
potencia de AS/400 o de RS/600 para conectar el SIE al
tomacorriente.
Todos los indicadores del panel frontal destellan brevemente y
el SIE realiza una prueba automática.
Cuando se completa la prueba automática, el indicador
destella, indicando que el SIE está en el modo de espera conel
equipo fuera de línea.

12. Inicie el SIE al presionar el Botón (Encendido). El indicador
para destellar y los indicadores de gráfico de barras
muestran el porcentaje de carga que se aplica al SIE.
El SIE ahora está en modo Normal y proporciona alimentación
al equipo.
NOTA Lasbateríassecargana una capacidad de 80%en aproximadamente2 horas.
Sin embargo,serecomienda quelasbateríassecarguenpor 24 horasdespuésde la
instalacióno almacenamiento prolongado.
13. Para el AS/400. Establezca el valor de sistema QUPSDLYTIM para
la función de control del SIE.
Control del SIE
El Control del SIE es una función estándar para el sistema operativo del
AS/400. QUPSDLYTIM es un cronometrador en el AS/400 que le indica
al sistema por cuánto tiempo se debe ejecutar la energía del SIE antes de
que se apague. A cada sistema AS/400 se le asigna inicialmente un valor
predeterminado para QUPSDLYTIM. Encontrará una descripción
