Do not put any other liquids or foods in the Water Reservoir. 9. .Turn off and unplug the coffee brewer when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before attaching or removing parts and before cleaning the appliance. 10. The resulting extended cord must be arranged so that it will not drape over a countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over accidentally. 4. .This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. L  ift and open the top of the K-Cup® Holder. 5. Place K-Cup® inside of K-Cup® Holder and close K-Cup® Holder Lid. 2. DO NOT remove or puncture the foil lid of the K-Cup® Pack. Ensure you are using the K-Cup® Pack Holder. 6. Push K-Cup® Holder back into place. The locking tab will snap to lock it in place. 3. Press tab and pull K-Cup® Holder forward. CAUTION: • There are two sharp needles that puncture the K-Cup® Pack, one above the K-Cup® Pack Holder and the other in the bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder. To avoid risk of injury, do not put your fingers in the K-Cup® Pack Housing Assembly. • Do not remove K-Cup® holder during the brew cycle. • Do not open reservoir lid during the brew cycle. 7 7. Lift lid to the Water Reservoir and fill with filtered or bottled water up to the desired fill level without exceeding the MAX fill line. 8. Close the Water Reservoir Lid. NOTES: A. Always brew with Reservoir Lid closed. B. Unit will brew out all water added to reservoir. Ensure the cup or mug can contain all the liquid added to reservoir. C. Any liquid overflow from your cup will be collected by the drip tray to keep brew space neat and clean. 9. P  lace a coffee cup or travel mug (up to 10oz) in the dispense area on the drip tray. Press the BREW button. 10. When the water reaches the perfect brewing temperature, the brewing will begin. 11. Enjoy! NOTES: A. Drip Tray can be removed to accommodate larger mugs. B. It is normal to hear gurgling noises from the Water Reservoir, it is part of how this unit operates. C. Pump will remain on for up to 90 seconds to complete brewing and drying the K-Cup® Pack. 8 HOW TO B R E W W I TH R EU S AB L E FILT ER 1. P  lace Brewer upright on a flat surface, remove protective sheet and plug into outlet. 2. Fill the Reusable Filter with your choice of ground coffee to the max fill line. 3. Press tab and pull K-Cup® holder forward. NOTE: Make sure the edge of the filter is free and clear of any particles to avoid leaking. 4. L  ift and open the top of the K-Cup® Holder. 5. Place Reusable Filter inside of K-Cup® Holder and close K-Cup® Holder Lid. 6. Push K-Cup® Holder back into place. The locking tab will snap to lock it in place. CAUTION: • T here are two sharp needles that puncture the K-Cup® Pack, one above the K-Cup® Pack Holder and the other in the bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder. To avoid risk of injury, do not put your fingers in the K-Cup® Pack Housing Assembly. • Do not remove K-Cup® holder during the brew cycle. • Do not open reservoir lid during the brew cycle. • Do not brew without K-cup® holder in place. • Do not brew a second time through the same K-cup®. 9 7. Lift lid to the Water Reservoir and fill with filtered or bottled water up to the desired fill level without exceeding the MAX fill line. 8. Close the Water Reservoir Lid. NOTES: A. Always brew with Reservoir Lid closed. B. Unit will brew out all water added to Reservoir. Ensure the cup or mug can contain all the liquid added to Reservoir. C. Any spills outside the fill area will flow to the Drip Tray. 9. P  lace a coffee cup or travel mug (up to 10oz) in the dispense area on the drip tray. Press the BREW button. 10. When the water reaches the perfect brewing temperature, the brewing will begin. 11. Enjoy! NOTES: A. Drip Tray can be removed to accommodate larger mugs. B. Pump will remain on for up to 90 seconds to complete brewing and drying the K-Cup® Pack. 10 HE LPFUL HI N TS Initial Cleansing Brew – Before you use your Brewer for the first time, perform an initial cleansing brew by running clean water through the brew cycle without using a K-Cup® pack or coffee grounds in the reusable filter.  ne Cup at a Time – Your new Brewer makes one fresh beverage at a time. O You’ll need to add fresh water each time you brew. The Right Water Makes a Difference – For the best tasting gourmet coffee, tea or hot cocoa, we recommend using bottled or filtered water. We do not recommend using distilled or reverse osmosis water. Water quality varies from place to place. If you notice an undesirable taste in your cup of coffee such as chlorine or other mineral taste, we recommend you consider using bottled water or water from a filtration system. Customize Your Flavor & Brew – With 2 ways to brew you can choose your favorite ground coffee or over 200 varieties of K-Cup® Packs, your Brewer gives you endless options to customize the flavor and strength that’s perfect for you. For a strong, intense cup, select an Extra Bold K-Cup® Pack (with up to 30% more ground coffee than regular varieties). Fill the Water Reservoir with filtered or bottled water up to the FILL LEVEL indicator and brew normally. Brewing Into a Tall Mug – To brew into a tall mug, simply remove the Drip Tray Assembly and place the tall mug on the Drip Tray Base. The Drip Tray – Any liquid overflow (from your cup) will be caught in the Drip Tray. Be sure to empty the Drip Tray. The Drip Tray has a snug fit to ensure it stays put in transit. Clean Your Brewer Regularly – To keep your Brewer looking and performing its best, be sure to clean the external and internal components on a regular basis. See page 11 for more information. De-Scaling – Mineral content in water varies from place to place. Depending on the mineral content of the water in your area, calcium deposits or scale may build up in your Brewer. Scale is non-toxic, but left unattended, it can hinder Brewer performance. De-scaling your Brewer helps maintain the heating element and other internal parts of the Brewer that come in contact with water. See page 13 for more information. Storing – When storing your Brewer, carefully empty the Drip Tray and make sure the Water Reservoir is empty. Store your Brewer upright in a safe, dry, frost-free environment. 11 CL EANING A N D MA I N TA IN IN G YO U R S IN G L E S ERV E 1.0 Cleaning External Parts CAUTION: Make sure the Brewer is unplugged before cleaning. Regular cleaning of the Brewer’s external components is recommended. 1. The Housing and other external components may be cleaned with a soapy, damp, non-abrasive cloth. CAUTION: Never immerse the Brewer in water or other liquids. 2. The Drip Tray can accumulate liquids. The Drip Tray and Drip Tray Plate should be periodically inspected and cleaned with a damp soapy nonabrasive lint free cloth. The Drip Tray and Drip Tray Plate should not be put into the dishwasher. To remove the Drip Tray Assembly, simply slide it toward you, keeping it level at all times to avoid spilling. Cleaning the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly 1. C  leaning the Parts – The K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly can be placed onto the top shelf of a dishwasher. NOTE: Use low temperature cycles in the dishwasher. To remove from the Brewer, pull forward the front face of the Brewer. Grasp the top of the K-Cup® Pack Holder with one hand while pushing up on the bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder from underneath with the other until it releases. After cleaning, align the K-Cup® Pack Holder with the opening using the two front ribs as a guide, and snap into place from the top. 2. C  leaning the Funnel – The Funnel can be removed from the K-Cup® Pack Holder by pulling on it until it snaps off (fig. 1). The Funnel is dishwasher safe. To replace it, just snap it back onto the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly. 3. Cleaning the Exit Needle – The Exit Needle is located on the inside bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder Assembly. 12 FIGURE 1 ! Should a clog arise due to coffee grinds, it can be cleaned using a clean household tool. Remove K-Cup® Pack Holder assembly and detach Funnel. Insert the household tool into the Needle to loosen the clog and push it out. The K-Cup® Pack Holder is dishwasher safe. CAUTION: There are sharp needles that puncture the K-Cup® Pack above the K-Cup® Pack Holder and in the bottom of the K-Cup® Pack Holder. To avoid risk of injury, do not put your fingers in the K-Cup® Pack Assembly Housing. NOTE: Over time, discoloration, spotting or staining may appear in the Water Reservoir. This is normal and will vary depending on the mineral content of the bottled or filtered water used in the Brewer and will not affect the operation of the Brewer. Cleaning the Water Reservoir To access the Water Reservoir, simply open the Water Reservoir Lid. Inspect the Water Reservoir area and clean with a damp lint free cloth as necessary. Close the Water Reservoir Lid when finished. Emptying the Water Reservoir 1. Ensure that the Water Reservoir Lid is closed. 2. Place a cup on the Drip Plate then press and hold the BREW Button until all the water has been dispensed. Note, there will be a delay of 4-5 seconds until water starts to dispense. Storage Empty the Water Reservoir before storing and take care to ensure that you store your Brewer in a safe and frost free environment. It is suggested to store your Brewer in the upright position. If you store the Brewer in a cold environment, you run the risk of condensation freezing inside the Brewer and causing damage. When you prepare to use it after storage, we recommend wiping the Water Reservoir with a damp lint-free cloth and running three cleansing brews without a K-Cup® Pack. If your Brewer has been in an environment below freezing, please be sure to let it warm to room temperature for 2 hours before using. 13 De-Scaling Your Brewer Mineral content in bottled or filtered water varies. Depending on the mineral content of the water, calcium deposits or scale may build up in your Brewer. Scale is non-toxic but left unattended, it can hinder Brewer performance. Descaling your Brewer helps maintain the heating element, and other internal parts of the Brewer that come in contact with water. The Brewer should be de-scaled every 3-6 months to ensure optimal performance or when there are white deposits in the Water Reservoir. It is possible for calcium deposits to build up faster, making it necessary to de-scale more often. Step 1: Make sure you have at least 8 ounces of undiluted white vinegar on hand. You will also need a 10 oz ceramic mug (do not use a paper cup) and access to a sink. Step 2: Fill Water Reservoir with 8 ounces of undiluted white vinegar up to the FILL LEVEL mark, place a ceramic mug on the Drip Tray Plate. Step 3: Close the lid, and perform a brew into the ceramic mug without adding a K-Cup® Pack. Step 4: Pour the contents of the ceramic mug into the Water Reservoir, careful the liquid will be hot, close the lid. Start a brew but power off the Brewer just after it starts to dispense and then allow it to sit for at least 30 minutes. Step 5: After the prescribed period of time, perform a brew without adding a K-Cup® Pack. Empty the contents of the ceramic mug into the sink, be careful as contents may be hot. Step 6: Fill the Water Reservoir with 8 ounces of bottled water, close the water fill lid, place a cup on the Drip Tray Plate and perform a brew. Step 7: Repeat Step 6 three times using bottled water (with no K-Cup® Pack in place) to cleanse the Brewer plumbing and get rid of any residual taste from the vinegar. The Brewer is now ready for normal use again. 14 T ROUBL ESH OOTI N G YO U R S IN G L E S ERVE 1 . 0 Beyond these recommended cleaning and maintenance procedures this Brewer is not user serviceable, for service please refer to the Warranty section in this guide. PRO BL E M SO LU T I O N BREWER DOES NOT HAVE POWER Make sure the Power Button is pressed and is illuminated. Plug Brewer into an independent outlet. Check to be sure that it is plugged in securely. Plug into a different outlet. BREW NOW BUTTON IS PULSING It will pulse for about 3-4 minutes while it is heating and then brewing. BREWER WILL NOT BREW WHEN USED FOR THE FIRST TIME If Brewer is cold/frozen, wait for at least two hours for it to reach room temperature before powering on. BREWER WILL NOT BREW It will take time for the water to heat up, brew time may take a few minutes. While the water is being heated the Brew LED will pulse. BREWING A PARTIAL CUP The Exit Needle may be clogged (refer to page 12). Clean K-Cup® Pack Holder if necessary and rinse under faucet (refer to page 12). De-scale the Brewer (refer to page 13). If you have repeated the de-scale procedure on your Brewer two times and the Brewer is still not brewing, contact Customer Service. UNIT IS MAKING NOISES Unit does make rumbling noises while the water is heated, this is normal operation. Allow unit to finish brewing, do not open reservoir lid during brew cycle. 15 RE PAIRS If your coffeemaker requires service, do not return it to the store where you purchased it. All repairs and replacements must be made by Sunbeam or an authorized Sunbeam Service Center. JCS, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period. Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty. Do NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this product. Doing so will void this warranty. L  a bomba permanecerá encendida hasta por 90 segundos para completar el colado y el secado del K-Cup® Pack. 26 CONSEJOS Ú TI LE S Limpieza y Colado Inicial – Antes de usar su cafetera por primera vez, ponga a funcionar la cafetera para una limpieza inicial con un ciclo de colado con solo agua limpia sin usar ningún K-Cup® Pack, ni café molido en el filtro reusable. Una taza a la vez – Su nueva cafetera prepara un café fresco cada vez. Necesitará agregar agua fresca cada vez que prepare una taza de café. El Agua Correcta hace la Diferencia – Para un mejor sabor del café gourmet, té o chocolate caliente, recomendamos que use agua filtrada o embotellada. No recomendamos agua destilada o de ósmosis invertida. La calidad del agua varía de un lugar a otro. Si nota un sabor no deseado en su taza de café como cloro u otro sabor mineral, le recomendamos que considere usar agua embotellada o proveniente de otro sistema de filtración. Personalice su Colado y su Sabor– Con dos alternativas de colado usted puede seleccionar la molienda de café de su agrado o sobre una selección de más de 200 variedades de K-Cup® Packs, su cafetera le ofrece infinidad de opciones para personalizar el sabor y la concentración perfecta para usted. Para una taza de café fuerte, intenso, seleccione el Extra Bold K-Cup® Pack (hasta 30% más café molido que las variedades normales). Llene el tanque de agua con agua filtrada o embotellada hasta el indicador de NIVEL DE LLENADO y prepare normalmente. Preparación de una Taza más Grande – Para preparar una taza más grande, simplemente retire la bandeja de goteo y coloque una taza más grande en la base de la bandeja de goteo. La Bandeja de Goteo – Cualquier líquido derramado (de su taza o del compartimiento de agua fría) caerá en la bandeja de goteo. Cerciórese de vaciar la bandeja de goteo. La bandeja de goteo se ajusta perfectamente en su lugar para garantizar que permanezca firme al transportar la cafetera. Limpie su Cafetera con Frecuencia – Para mantener su cafetera luciendo y operando de la mejor forma posible, cerciórese de limpiar los componentes externos e internos con frecuencia. Para mayor información, consulte la página 29. Remoción de Depósitos de Calcio– El contenido mineral en el agua varía de un lugar a otro. Dependiendo del contenido mineral del agua en su área, se pueden acumular depósitos de calcio en su cafetera. Estos depósitos no son tóxicos, pero si se ignora, puede entorpecer el desempeño de la cafetera. Remover estos 27 depósitos de su cafetera ayuda a mantener el elemento calefactor y otras partes internas de la cafetera que entran en contacto con el agua. Para mayor información consulte la página 30. Almacenamiento – Cuando guarde su Cafetera, vacíe cuidadosamente la Bandeja de Goteo y asegúrese de que el Tanque para Agua esté vacío. Guarde la cafetera en posición vertical en un ambiente seguro, seco y libre de congelamiento. L I MPIEZA Y MA N TE N I M IEN TO DE SU CAF E TE RA I N D I V ID UAL Limpieza de las partes externas IMPORTANTE: Verifique que la cafetera esté desconectada antes de hacer la limpieza normal. Se recomienda la limpieza frecuente de los componentes externos de la cafetera. 1. La carcasa y otros componentes externos se pueden limpiar con un paño jabonoso y húmedo, no abrasivo. PRECAUCIÓN: Nunca sumerja la cafetera en agua o en otros líquidos. 2. La bandeja de goteo puede acumular líquidos. La bandeja de goteo y la base de la bandeja de goteo se deben inspeccionar y limpiar periódicamente con un paño jabonoso y húmedo, no abrasivo que no produzca pelusa. La bandeja de goteo o la base no se deben lavar en la lavadora de platos. Para retirar el ensamble de la bandeja de goteo, simplemente deslícelo en dirección suya, manteniéndolo nivelado en todo momento para evitar derrames. Limpieza del Ensamblaje del Receptáculo de K-Cup® Pack 1. L  impieza de las Partes – El ensamblaje del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack se puede colocar en la rejilla superior del lavaplatos. NOTA: Use un ciclo de temperatura baja en el lavaplatos. Para retirarlo de la cafetera, hale hacia arriba la parte superior de la cafetera, agarre el tope del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack con una mano mientras empuja hacia arriba con la otra mano la base del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack hasta que se libere. Después de limpiar, alinee el receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack con la abertura utilizando las dos estrías delanteras como guía y coloque en su lugar desde la parte superior. 28 2. L  impieza del Embudo – El embudo se puede retirar del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack halando hasta que se libere (figura 1). El embudo se puede lavar en el lavaplatos. Para volver a colocar, simplemente encaje de nuevo en el ensamblaje del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack. 3. Limpieza de la Aguja de Salida – La aguja de salida se encuentra en la parte inferior interna del ensamblaje del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack. Si ocurriese un bloqueo debido a la molienda del café, éste puede limpiarse usando un utensilio de cocina limpio. Retire el ensamblaje del receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack y desencaje el embudo. Introduzca el utensilio de cocina en la aguja para aflojar la obstrucción y empujarla. El receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack se puede lavar en el lavaplatos. FIGURA 1 ! Para evitar riesgo de alguna lesión, no ponga los dedos en el ensamblaje del K-Cup® Pack. NOTA: Con el tiempo, pueden aparecer decoloraciones o manchas en el tanque de agua. Esto es normal y variará dependiendo del contenido mineral del agua embotellada o filtrada que se use en la preparación, pero no afectará el funcionamiento de la cafetera. Limpieza del Tanque de Agua Para accesar al tanque de agua, simplemente abra la tapa del tanque. Inspeccione el área del tanque de agua y limpie con un paño húmedo sin pelusas, según sea necesario. Cuando termine, cierre la tapa del tanque de agua. Cómo Vaciar el Tanque de Agua 1. V  erifique que la tapa del tanque de agua esté cerrada. 2. Coloque una taza en la base de goteo, luego oprima y mantenga oprimido el botón de BREW (colar) hasta que se vierta toda el agua. Tome en cuenta que habrá un retraso de 4-5 segundos hasta que el agua empiece a verterse. 29 Almacenamiento Vacíe el tanque de agua antes de guardar y cerciórese de guardar su cafetera en un ambiente seguro y que no quede expuesta a congelamiento. Se sugiere guardar la cafetera en posición vertical. Si guarda la cafetera en un ambiente frio, se corre el riesgo de congelamiento por condensación de la parte interna lo que podría causar daños. Cuando se prepare para usarla después de estar guardada, recomendamos limpiar el tanque de agua con un paño húmedo, libre de pelusas y operar tres ciclos sin un K-Cup® Pack. Si la cafetera ha estado en un ambiente por debajo del nivel de congelamiento, cerciórese de dejarla a temperatura ambiente por 2 horas antes de usar. Cómo Descalcificar su Cafetera El contenido mineral del agua embotellada o filtrada varía. Dependiendo del contenido mineral del agua, se pueden formar depósitos de calcio en la cafetera. Estos depósitos no son tóxicos pero si se ignora pueden obstruir el desempeño de la cafetera. Quitar estos depósitos de su cafetera ayuda a mantener el elemento calefactor y otras partes internas de la cafetera que entran en contacto con el agua. Se deben limpiar estos depósitos cada 3-6 meses para garantizar un desempeño óptimo o cuando se formen depósitos blancos en el tanque de agua. Es posible que los depósitos de calcio se desarrollen más rápido, lo que exige limpiarlos más frecuentemente. Paso 1: Verifique que tiene a mano al menos 8 onzas de vinagre blanco no diluido. También necesitará una taza de cerámica de 10 onzas (no use una taza desechable) y acceso a un fregadero. Paso 2: Llene el tanque de agua con 8 onzas de vinagre blanco no diluido hasta la marca del NIVEL DE LLENADO, coloque la taza de cerámica sobre la base de la bandeja de goteo. Paso 3: Cierre la tapa e inicie el ciclo de colado en una taza de cerámica sin usar un K-Cup® Pack. Paso 4: Vierta el contenido de la taza de cerámica en el tanque de agua, con cuidado ya que el líquido estará caliente, cierre la tapa. Inicie el ciclo de colado pero apague la cafetera inmediatamente después de que empiece a verter el agua y luego deje reposar por 30 minutos. 30 Paso 5: Después del tiempo indicado, realice un ciclo de colado sin un K-Cup® Pack. Vacíe el contenido de la taza de cerámica en el fregadero, tenga cuidado ya que el contenido puede estar caliente. Paso 6: Llene el tanque de agua con 8 onzas de agua embotellada, cierre la tapa del tanque de agua, coloque una taza en la base de la bandeja de goteo y realice un ciclo de colado. Paso 7: Repita el Paso 6 tres veces con agua embotellada (sin un K-Cup® Pack) para limpiar la tubería de la cafetera y eliminar cualquier sabor residual de vinagre. La cafetera está ahora lista para su uso normal nuevamente. . 31 SOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS PARA SU CAFETERA INDIVIDUAL Más allá de estos procedimientos de limpieza y mantenimiento recomendados, esta cafetera no está diseñada para que el usuario la repare. Para servicio, consulte la sección de garantía de esta guía. PROBLEMA SOLUCIÓN LA CAFETERA NO TIENE ENERGÍA Verifique que el botón de encendido esté oprimido e iluminado. Conecte la cafetera en un tomacorriente independiente. Verifique que esté conectada de forma segura. Conecte en un tomacorriente diferente. ELBOTÓN DE COLAR (BREW) ESTÁ TITILANDO Va a titilar de 3 a 4 minutos mientrás se calienta y cuela después LA CAFETERA NO FUNCIONA CUANDO SE USA POR PRIMERA VEZ Si la cafetera está fría/congelada, espere por lo menos dos horas para que alcance la temperatura ambiente antes de encenderla. LA CAFETERA NO PREPARA EL CAFÉ Tomará tiempo para que el agua se caliente, el tiempo de colado puede tomar unos minutos. Mientras el agua calienta, el botón de colar (BREW) estará titilando. La aguja de salida puede estar obstruida (consulte la página 30). LA CAFETERA PREPARA EL CAFÉ PARCIALMENTE S i es necesario, limpie y enjuague en el grifo el receptáculo del K-Cup® Pack (consulte la página 30). Retire el sarro de la cafetera (consulte la página 31). Si ha repetido el procedimiento de limpieza del sarro en su cafetera dos veces y esta sigue sin funcionar, contacte a Servicio al cliente. LA UNIDAD HACE RUIDO 32 Mientras el agua se calienta es normal que haga ruido. Permita que la unidad termine de colar, no abra la tapa del tanque durante el ciclo de colado.
