This appliance complies with statutory safety regulations. Improper use may
result in personal injury and property damage.
IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed, including the following:
1. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE.
2. Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
3. To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs
or the appliance in water or other liquids.
4. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used
by or near children.
5. Unplug the appliance from the outlet when not in use and
before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking
off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug
or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in
any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized

12. If any liquid gets into the housing, unplug the appliance

13. Risk of burns! During use, some parts become very hot!
14. Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended
use.
15. Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing
cycles.
16. The container is designed for use with this appliance. It must
never be used on a range top.
17. Do not set a hot container on a wet or cold surface.
18. Do not use a cracked container or a container having a
loose or weakened handle.
19. To disconnect the appliance, switch the On/Off switch to
position O, then pull the plug from the wall outlet.
20. Do not use an external timer switch or a separate remote
control system to operate the appliance.
21. Do not clean container with cleansers, steel wool pads, or
other abrasive material.
22. Do not use the appliance in direct sunlight or near appliances
generating heat!
23. Defective components must always be replaced with original
replacement parts. Compliance with safety requirements can
only be guaranteed if original replacement parts are used.
24. Repairs to the appliance during the warranty period may
only be carried out by a customer service department autho-
rized by the manufacturer. Otherwise no warranty claims
can be considered for subsequent damage.

Important cord information
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the
other). To reduce the risk of electric shock, there is only one way
this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet. If the plug does
not completely fit into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not
fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the
plug in any way.
A short power supply cord (or detachable power supply cord)
should be used to reduce the risk resulting from becoming
entangled in, or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer detachable power supply cords or extensions cords may
be used if they are used carefully.
If a longer detachable power supply cord or extension cord is
used:
1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord
should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appli-
ance;
2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the
countertop or table where it can be pulled on by children or
tripped over unintentionally; and
3) If the appliance has a grounded plug, the cord set or extension
cord should also be a grounded 3-wire cord.

coffee.
This appliance is intended solely for use in private households.
It is not suitable for commercial use!
This appliance is only intended for private use in enclosed, dry
spaces. It must not be used outdoors.
Use the appliance only with the original accessories.
Risk from improper use!
Risks may arise if the appliance is used for unintended purposes
and/or other types of use.
► Use the appliance exclusively for its intended purposes.
► Observe the procedures described in these operating instructions.
Claims of any kind for damage resulting from improper use,
incompetent repairs, unauthorized modifications, or the use of
non-approved spare parts will not be accepted. The operator
alone bears liability.

Unpacking
Packaging materials are not children’s toys. Therefore, children
must not be allowed to play with them.
There is a risk of suffocation!
1) Remove all parts of the appliance and these operating
instructions from the box.
2) Remove all packaging material and any protective wrapping
or stickers.
3) Clean all components as described in the section "Cleaning
and maintenance". Ensure that all parts are completely dry.
Check the package for completeness and signs of visible damage.
If the delivery is incomplete or damage has occurred as a result
of defective packaging or during transport, contact the customer
service hotline (see "3 year limited warranty" section).

Setup and connection
Never place the appliance near water in a sink or other container.
Only use the appliance on a dry surface. Proximity to water
constitutes a risk even when the appliance is turned off.
Never place the appliance near sources of heat.
Only use the appliance on level, heat-resistant surfaces to avoid
damage to the appliance and the surface.
1) Place the appliance on a level, heat-resistant surface.
2) For the first time using the coffee maker, follow the directions
in the section “Before first use”.
3) If you have not done so, place the filter basket q and the
coffee pot 6 in the appliance.
4) Insert the power plug into the power socket.
The appliance is now ready for operation.

Before first use
The steam outlet openings 2 on the lid emit hot steam! There is a
risk of scalding!
Never open the lid during the brewing process! Hot steam may
escape or hot water may splash. There is a risk of scalding!
The hot plate 7 underneath the coffee pot 6 heats up to a high
temperature during brewing and while keeping your coffee hot.
There is a risk of burns!
Never add more than 10 cups of water to the water tank 0
(MAX marker).
There is a small hole 3 on the back of the appliance. This is a
water overflow that prevents you from adding too much water
to the appliance. If too much water is added beyond the MAX
marking, the water runs through this water overflow 3 onto the
countertop.
If the appliance is moved when the water tank 0 is full (10 cups
of water), water may come out of the water overflow 3.
Never fill less than 2 cups of water into the water tank 0. The fill
level indicator 4 on the water tank 0 is a useful guide.
1) Place the appliance on a level, heat-resistant surface.
2) Thoroughly rinse the coffee pot 6 with water and insert it
into the appliance.
3) Open the lid by lifting it up using the handle 1.
4) Remove the filter basket q from the filter basket holder 9.
5) Rinse the filter basket q with clear water and insert it back
into the appliance.
6) Pour 10 cups of water into the water tank 0 and close the lid.
7) Connect the power plug to a power socket.

8) Switch the On/Off switch 5 to position I. The On/Off switch
5 lights up. The brewing process begins.
9) Wait until your coffee is done brewing, then switch the On/
Off switch 5 to position O to turn the appliance off.
10) Empty the coffee pot 6 and rinse it with clear water one
more time.
11) Wait until the appliance has cooled down, then rinse the filter
basket q with clear water again.
12) Place the filter basket q and the coffee pot 6 back in the
appliance.
The appliance is now ready for operation.
Brewing coffee
Adding ground coffee to the appliance
If you grind your own coffee, we recommend selecting a medium
grind. The finer the grind, the more intense and bitter; the coarser
the grind, the more watery and acidic the coffee will taste.
1) Open the lid.
2) Take out a paper filter (size 1 x 4) and fold its sides over.
Insert the paper filter into the filter basket q.
3) Use the measuring scoop w to add the ground coffee.
For each cup of filter coffee you wish to make, add approximately
one level measuring scoop w of ground coffee. If you prefer
weaker coffee, reduce the amount of ground coffee per cup.

Filling the appliance with water
Health risk!
Always use drinking water to prepare your coffee!
1) Fill the water tank 0 with water. Use an appropriate amount
of water for the amount of filter coffee you wish to prepare.
Use the fill level indicator 4 on the water tank 0 as a guide.
Close the lid of the appliance.
2) Place the coffee pot 6 back inside the appliance.
Never add more than 10 cups of water to the water tank 0
(MAX marker).
There is a small hole 3 on the back of the appliance.

water to the appliance. If too much water is added beyond the
MAX marking, the water runs through this water overflow 3 onto
the countertop.

A small amount of the water is lost during the brewing process:
some of it evaporates, some of it remains in the coffee grounds.

Starting the brewing process

1) Switch the On/Off switch 5 to position I. The On/Off switch
5 lights up. The brewing process begins.
You can remove the coffee pot 6 from the appliance temporarily
during brewing to pour a cup of coffee. Brewing stops automat-
ically so that no more coffee drips from the appliance. However,
you should place the coffee pot 6 back on the hot plate 7 with-
in 10 seconds. Otherwise, coffee may drip from the appliance.
You can stop the brewing process at any time by switching the
On/Off switch 5 to position O.
2) The hot plate 7 underneath the coffee pot 6 keeps your
coffee hot until you turn the appliance off by switching the
On/Off switch 5 to position O.
Cleaning and maintenance
Cleaning
Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids.
Risk of electrocution!

Always disconnect the power plug from the power socket before
cleaning the appliance. Risk of electrocution!
Always allow the appliance to cool down before you clean it.
Risk of burns!
Never use abrasive, aggressive or chemical cleaning agents to
clean the appliance. They will damage the surfaces of the
appliance.
1) Disconnect the power plug from the power socket and allow
the appliance to cool down.
2) Open the lid and remove the filter basket q. Dispose of the
paper filter if necessary.
3) Wash the filter basket q, the coffee pot 6 and the measuring
scoop w in mild dishwater. Afterwards, thoroughly rinse the
parts with clear water.
The filter basket q and the measuring scoop w can be
cleaned in the dishwasher. But be careful not to wedge
the parts.
4) Wipe the filter basket holder 9 with a damp cloth.
5) Wipe the appliance with a damp cloth. If necessary, add a
mild detergent to the cloth. Ensure that no residual detergent
remains on the appliance and dry the appliance fully before
using it again.

Descaling the appliance
Descale your coffee maker regularly.
Depending on the hardness of your water, you may have to
descale the appliance more or less frequently. If the water is very
hard, you will need to descale the appliance after approximately
30 uses; with soft water, after approximately 60 uses. Contact
your local water supplier to ask about the hardness of your
water.
Always use a descaling agent that is suitable for coffee makers
and follow the instructions.
How to descale:
1) Pour the descaling agent into the water tank 0.
2) Add the amount of water specified in the operating instruc-
tions of the descaling agent, but do not exceed the ten cup
mark on the fill level indicator 4!
3) Place the coffee pot 6 back on the hot plate 7.
4) Switch the On/Off switch 5 to position I. The On/Off switch
5 lights up.
5) Wait until enough water for approximately 2 cups has run
through the appliance, then stop the brewing process by
switching the On/Off switch 5 to position O.
6) Allow the descaling agent to take effect for approximately
15 minutes.
7) Repeat steps 4 to 6 twice.
8) Now, start the brewing process again and wait until the
water has run through the appliance completely.
9) Run three brewing cycles with a full tank 0 of clear water.
This will remove the residual descaling agent so that you can
use the coffee maker again.

Storage
1) If you are not using the appliance for extended periods of
time, make sure to remove all residual coffee grounds.
2) Clean the appliance as described in the section on "Cleaning
and maintenance".
3) Insert the cord into the power cord storage compartment 8.
4) Store the appliance in a clean, dust-free place.
Troubleshooting
This section contains important instructions for troubleshooting
the appliance. The following table helps identify and solve minor
problems.

materials that can be disposed of at your local recy-
cling center.

What does this warranty cover?
The warranty covers:
▯ Damage, breakage or inoperability due to defect.
▯ Damage not caused by normal wear and tear or failure to follow
the safety and maintenance instructions provided in the user
manual.
What is not covered by the warranty?
The warranty does not cover damage caused by:
▯ Normal wear and tear of the product, including fragile parts
(such as switches, glass, etc.);
▯ Improper use or transport;
▯ Disregarding safety and maintenance instructions;
▯ Accidents or acts of nature (e.g. lightning, fire, water, etc.);
▯ Tampering with the product (such as removing cover, unscrewing
screws etc.)
Consequential and incidental damages are also not covered under
this warranty. However, some states do not allow the exclusion or
limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation

Desempaque

Instalación y conexión
Nunca coloque el dispositivo cerca del agua en un fregadero u
otro contenedor. Solamente use el dispositivo sobre una superficie
seca. La proximidad al agua constituye un riesgo, aun cuando el
dispositivo esté apagado.
Nunca coloque el dispositivo cerca de fuentes de calor.
Use el dispositivo únicamente sobre superficies resistentes al calor
para evitar daño a este y a la superficie.

1) Coloque el dispositivo sobre una superficie nivelada y resistente
al calor.
2) Para la primera vez que use la máquina para café, siga las
instrucciones de la sección “Antes del primer uso”.
3) Si no lo ha hecho, coloque la canastilla para filtro q y la
olla para café 6 en el dispositivo.
4) Inserte la clavija de alimentación en la toma de corriente.
El dispositivo está listo para usarse.
Antes del primer uso
¡Las aberturas de salida de vapor 2 en la tapa expulsan vapor
caliente! ¡Existe el riesgo de escaldaduras!
¡Nunca abra la tapa durante el proceso de preparación! Puede salir
vapor o salpicar agua caliente. ¡Existe el riesgo de escaldaduras!
La placa caliente 7 debajo de la olla para café 6 se calienta
a una alta temperatura durante la preparación y mientras se
mantiene el café caliente. ¡Existe el riesgo de quemaduras!
Nunca agregue más de 10 tazas de agua en el depósito de
agua0 (no pase de la marca "MAX").
Hay un agujero pequeño 3 en la parte posterior del dispositivo.
Este es un derrame de agua que impide que agregue demasiada
agua al dispositivo. Si agrega demasiada agua después de la
marca MAX, el agua corre a través de este derrame de agua 3
hacia la cubierta.
Si el dispositivo se mueve cuando del depósito de agua 0 está
lleno (10 tazas de agua), puede salir agua por el derrame de
agua 3.
Nunca vierta menos de 2 tazas de agua en el depósito de
agua0. El indicador de nivel de llenado4 en el depósito de
agua0 es una guía útil.

1) Coloque el dispositivo sobre una superficie nivelada y resistente
al calor.
2) Enjuague completamente la olla para café 6 con agua e
insértela en el dispositivo.
3) Abra la tapa levantándola con el asa pequeña 1.
4) Retire la canastilla para el filtro q del soporte de la canastilla
para el filtro 9.
5) Enjuague la canastilla para el filtro q con agua limpia y
vuelva a insertarla en el dispositivo.
6) Vierta 10 tazas de agua en el depósito de agua 0 y cierre
la tapa del dispositivo.
7) Conecte la clavija en una toma de corriente.
8) Cambie el interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 a la posi-
ción I. El interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 se enciende.
Comienza el proceso de preparación.
9) Espere hasta que el café termine de prepararse y luego
cambie el interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 a la posi-
ción O para apagar el dispositivo.
10) Vacíe la olla para café 6 y enjuáguela con agua limpia una
vez más.
11) Espere hasta que el dispositivo se haya enfriado y luego
enjuague la canastilla para el filtro q con agua limpia
una vez más.
12) Coloque la canastilla para filtro q y la olla para café 6
nuevamente en el dispositivo.
El dispositivo está listo para usarse.

Preparación de café
Agregar café molido al dispositivo
Si usted muele su propio café, le recomendamos seleccionar un
molido medio. Cuanto más fino sea el molido, más intenso y más
amargo; cuanto más grueso sea el molido, más acuoso y más
acídico sabrá el café.
1) Abra la tapa.
2) Tome un filtro de papel (tamaño1x4) y dóblelo a la mitad.
Inserte el filtro de papel en la canastilla para el filtro q.
3) Use la cuchara medidora w para agregar el café molido.
Por cada taza de café filtrado que desee preparar, agregue
aproximadamente una cuchara medidora w a ras de café
molido. Si prefiere un café más suave, reduzca la cantidad de
café molido por taza.
Llenado del dispositivo con agua
¡Riesgo para la salud!
¡Utilice siempre agua potable para preparar su café!
1) Llene el depósito de agua 0 con agua. Use una cantidad
de agua adecuada para la cantidad de café filtrado que
desea preparar. Use el indicador de nivel de llenado 4 del
depósito de agua 0 como guía.
Cierre la tapa del dispositivo.
2) Coloque la olla para café 6 nuevamente en el dispositivo.

Nunca agregue más de 10 tazas de agua en el depósito de
agua0 (no pase de la marca "MAX").

Puede retirar la olla para café 6 del dispositivo temporalmente
durante la preparación para servirse una taza de café. La prepara-
ción se detiene automáticamente para que no gotee más café
del dispositivo. Sin embargo, debe colocar la olla para café 6
nuevamente en la placa caliente 7 en menos de 10 segundos.
De lo contrario, el café podría gotear del dispositivo.
Puede detener el proceso de preparación en cualquier momento
cambiando el interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 a la
posición O.
2) La placa caliente 7 debajo de la olla para café 6 mantie-
ne caliente el café hasta que usted cambie el interruptor de
encendido/apagado 5 del dispositivo a la posición O.
Limpieza y mantenimiento
Limpieza
Nunca sumerja el dispositivo en agua u otros líquidos.
¡Riesgo de electrocución!
Siempre desconecte la clavija de la toma de corriente antes de
limpiar el dispositivo. ¡Riesgo de electrocución!
Siempre permita que el dispositivo se enfríe antes de limpiarlo.
¡Riesgo de quemaduras!
Nunca use productos de limpieza abrasivos, agresivos o quími-
cos para limpiar el dispositivo. Estos dañarán las superficies del
dispositivo.

1) Desconecte la clavija de la toma de corriente y permita que
el dispositivo se enfríe.
2) Abra la tapa y retire la canastilla para el filtro q.
Deseche el filtro de papel si es necesario.
3) Lave la canastilla para el filtro q, la olla para café 6 y la
cuchara medidora w en agua para lavar trastes suave. Des-
pués, enjuague a conciencia las partes con agua limpia.
La canastilla para el filtro q y la cuchara medidora w
pueden lavarse en la máquina lavaplatos. Tenga cuida-
do de no dañar las partes.
4) Limpie el soporte de la canastilla para el filtro 9 con una
tela humedecida.
5) Limpie el dispositivo con una tela humedecida. Si es necesa-
rio, agregue un detergente suave a la tela. Asegúrese de que
no haya residuos de detergente en el dispositivo y séquelo
completamente antes de volver a usarlo.
Eliminación de sarro del dispositivo
Elimine regularmente el sarro de su máquina para café.
Los intervalos de eliminación de sarro del dispositivo dependen
de la dureza del agua que usa. Si el agua es muy dura, tendrá
que eliminar el sarro del dispositivo cada 30 usos aproximada-
mente; si usa agua blanda, cada 60 usos aproximadamente.
Consulte con su proveedor de agua local para averiguar la
dureza del agua.
Siempre use productos para la remoción de sarro adecuados
para máquinas para café y siga las instrucciones.
Cómo eliminar el sarro:
1) Vierta el producto quitasarro en el depósito de agua0.

2) Agregue la cantidad de agua que se indica en las instruccio-
nes de uso del producto quitasarro, pero no pase la marca
de diez tazas que está en el indicador de nivel de llena-
do4 del dispositivo.
3) Coloque nuevamente olla para café 6 en la placa caliente
7.
4) Cambie el interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 a la posi-
ción I. El interruptor de encendido/apagado 5 se enciende.
5) Espere hasta que hayan pasado aproximadamente 2 tazas
de agua por el dispositivo, y luego detenga el proceso de
preparación al cambiar el interruptor de encendido/apaga-
do 5 a la posición O.
6) Permita que el producto quitasarro haga efecto durante
15 minutos.
7) Repita los pasos 4 a 6 dos veces.
8) Ahora repita el proceso de preparación y espere a que toda
el agua pase por el dispositivo.
9) Repita tres veces el ciclo de preparación con el depósito de
agua 0 lleno de agua natural. De esta manera se elimina-
rán los residuos del producto quitasarro y podrá volver a
usar su máquina para café.
Almacenamiento
1) Si no va a usar el dispositivo durante periodos prolongados,
asegúrese de retirar todos los residuos de café molido.
2) Limpie el dispositivo como se describe en la sección
"Limpieza y mantenimiento".
3) Inserte el cable en el compartimento de almacenamiento del
cable de alimentación8.
4) Guarde el dispositivo en un lugar limpio, libre de polvo y seco.

Solución de problemas
Esta sección contiene instrucciones importantes para solucionar
problemas del dispositivo. La tabla siguiente ayuda a identificar
y resolver problemas menores.
