1. General Information

1.1. Read and retain the operating manual

This operating manual contains important information

regarding the safe use of the multi-band radio as well as

details on day-to-day use and disposal. Carefully

familiarize yourself with the operating manual, paying

special attention to the safety instructions before using the multi-band

radio, and use it only for the application areas and purposes described. If

you give the multi-band radio away or sell it, please ensure that you also

pass on the operating manual. It is part of the product.

1.2. Explanation of symbols used

The following symbols and signal words are used in this operating manual,

on the multi-band radio, or on the packaging.

This symbol / signal word indicates a hazard with a high level of risk that

if not prevented could result in death or serious injury.

2. Safety

2.1. Intended use

This device is an electric entertainment appliance, designed to receive and

play radio stations. The device can also be used as a clock and an alarm

clock. It may only be used for private purposes and is not for industrial or

commercial use. The device should also not be used in tropical climates.

The manufacturer shall not be liable for any damages or faults arising as a

result of unauthorized modification of the device. Only use the accessories

specified by the manufacturer. Please observe the national regulations

and/or laws of the country in which the device is used.

Please be aware that national laws in different countries vary regarding

which frequency ranges you may legally receive. Information received

outside of the allowed frequency ranges may not be utilized and its

content or any facts received may not be passed on to third parties.

2.2. Safety Instructions

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always

be followed, including the following:

2. To protect against risk of electrical shock do not put in water or other

Listening at high volume can be dangerous

Take care when using earphones. Listening at a high volume

for prolonged periods can damage the user’s hearing.

1. Only use the earphones supplied with the device (C) of the following

type: SWE 200 A3. Using other earphones can lead to harmful sound

pressure levels.

2. Do not use the SWE 200 A3 earphones supplied (C) with other

playback devices.

Do not use the earphones (C) at a high volume. This would risk damaging

your hearing and may disturb those around you. Although the device is set

up so that you can still be aware of ambient noises, set the volume at least

low enough so that you can continue to be aware of sounds in your

surroundings.

In dangerous situations, e.g., road use, working with machines or other

situations requiring your full attention, the noise may negatively affect your

concentration or decrease your awareness of what is happening around

you. In scenarios such as these, do not use the device.

Operating environment

The device is not designed for operation in rooms with a high temperature,

humidity (for example, the bathroom), or excessive dust. Operating

temperature and operating humidity: 41 °F – 95 °F (5°C to 35°C), 85

percent maximum relative humidity.

Please make sure that:

 there is always adequate ventilation (do not place the device on a shelf,

a carpet, a bed or anywhere where the ventilation slots will be covered;

leave a distance of at least 4 in/10 cm free on each side)

 contact with splashing and dripping water and aggressive liquids is

avoided, and that the device is not operated in the vicinity of water. It is

especially important that the device never be immersed, nor should any

objects filled with liquid (for example, vases or drinks) be placed on or

near the device.

 there are no naked flames (for example, burning candles) placed on or

near the device

 no foreign bodies penetrate into the device

 the device is not exposed to excessive temperature fluctuations, as

otherwise condensation can occur and lead to electrical short circuits. If,

however, the device is exposed to large temperature fluctuations, wait

for approximately two hours until the device has reached ambient

temperature before starting it up.

 if you are using an optional mains adapter, the instructions of the mains

adapter are observed.

 Do not allow children under eight years of age to operate this multi-

band radio.

 The multi-band radio can be used by people with reduced physical

sensory or mental abilities or who lack experience and/or knowledge,

providing they are supervised or have been instructed in the safe use of

the device and understand the resulting dangers.

 Greatest attention is required if the multi-band radio is used by or near

children or persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or

disabilities.

 Keep the packaging film away from children. There is a risk of

suffocation.

 Under no circumstances may the multi-band radio be immersed in water

or held under running water.

 In case of battery leakage, remove the batteries to avoid damaging the

multi-band radio. You can remove leaked battery fluid with a dry,

absorbent cloth. Wear suitable gloves to do so! Contact with the skin

must be avoided. In the case of contact with eyes, rinse eyes

immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

 Always take care to install your batteries correctly observing the “+”

and “-” marks on the battery and the device.

 Always replace the whole set of batteries at one time, taking care not to

mix old and new ones, or batteries of different types.

 Remove discharged batteries from equipment promptly to avoid

possible damage from leakage.

 Never dispose of batteries in fire, except under conditions of controlled

incineration. (Failure to observe this precaution may result in an

explosion.)

 Never attempt to recharge primary batteries as this may cause leakage,

fire, or explosion.

 Never short circuit batteries as this may lead to high temperatures,

leakage, or explosion.

 Never heat batteries in order to revive them.

 Never attempt to disassemble or open batteries as this can lead to

electrolyte burns.

 Keep batteries out of the reach of children, especially those batteries

fitting within the limits of the truncated cylinder as defined in Figure 1.

Immediately seek medical attention if a cell or battery has been

swallowed. Also, contact your local poison control center.

Repairs/maintenance/cleaning

Repair work is required if the device has been damaged, for example, if

the mains adapter or the device housing are damaged, liquids or objects

have got inside the device or if the device has been exposed to rain or

moisture. Repair work is also required if the device does not work properly

or has been dropped. If you notice any smoke or unusual noises or smells,

switch off the device immediately, remove the batteries and unplug the

mains adapter from the power socket. In these cases, you must not

continue to use the device until it has been checked by a specialist. All

repair work should only be carried out by qualified technicians. Never

open the housing of the device. Clean the device using a clean, dry cloth

and never use abrasive liquids. Do not try to open the housing of the

device, as this will void your guarantee.

In the case of battery leakage, the device must be cleaned by a specialist.

6.2. Stand

On the back of the device there is a stand (21), which can be used to

stand the multi-band radio in a tilted position. To do this, pull out the stand

(21).

7. Before Initial Use

You can choose whether to run the device on the supplied AA batteries

(D) (Mignon, LR6) or using the optional mains adapter (not included in the

package). The mains adapter must meet the defined specifications; see

section titled ‘Specifications.’

Do not run the device on batteries while it is connected to

the mains adapter. Remove them before attaching the

device to the mains adapter.

7.1. Inserting the batteries

Unplug the mains adapter’s power cable if it is connected. Open the

battery compartment (20) on the back of the device by sliding the battery

compartment lid in the direction of the arrow and removing it. Insert the

batteries with the correct polarity (see the + and - markings), as shown in

the following diagram. The polarity is marked on the batteries and on the

battery compartment. When inserting the batteries, ensure that the fabric

strip is underneath the batteries. This makes it easier to remove the

batteries when you need to change them. Now place the lid back on the

battery compartment (20) and slide it in the opposite direction to the

arrow.

If your screen (7) signals that the battery level is low (30), the batteries

have almost run out of charge. Swap them out for new batteries of the

same type, as fully drained batteries have an increased risk of leaking. If

they do leak, this may damage the device.

Remove the batteries when not using the device for a

prolonged period of time.

7.2. Connecting the mains adapter

Open the battery compartment (20) on the back of the device if you

previously placed batteries in the compartment. Insert the connector from

the mains adapter into the connector socket (19) of the multi-band radio

(A). Plug the mains adapter into an easily accessible mains plug socket.

8. Initial Use

8.1. Switching the device on and off

To switch on the device, briefly press the POWER/SLEEP button (8) once.

When switched on, the screen (7) displays the frequency and the

frequency band that the radio is tuned to:

FM Frequency modulation

MW Medium wave

SW Shortwave

To switch off the device, briefly press the POWER button (8) again. When

switched off, the screen (7) displays the current time.

8.2. Setting the time

The time can only be altered when the radio is switched off. If it is on,

press the POWER button (8) to switch it off. Note that the multi-band radio

returns to standby mode when it is not used for approx. five seconds.

Previous settings are stored.

 First, press the TIME/MEM button (15). By pressing the UP (6) or

DOWN (14) buttons, you can choose between 12- or 24-hour time

format. Confirm your settings by pressing the TIME/MEM button (15)

again.

 The hour indicator now flashes. By pressing the UP (6) or DOWN (14)

buttons, you can set the current time in hours. You can also push and

hold the respective button to change the numbers more quickly. Confirm

your settings by pressing the TIME/MEM button (15).

 The minute indicator now flashes. By pressing the UP (6) or DOWN

(14) buttons, you can set the current time in minutes. You can also push

and hold the respective button to change the numbers more quickly.

Confirm your settings by pressing the TIME/MEM button (15).

 The time has now been set.

 If you have chosen the 12-hour time format, the screen (7) will display

the PM icon (22) during the hours after midday.

The time must be adapted if you travel to another time zone.

8.3. Light-up screen

Every time a button is pressed, the screen lights up for approximately 5

seconds and then the light switches off.

8.4. Setting the volume

By pressing the VOL- (4) and VOL+ (13) buttons, you can change the

volume in accordance with your preferences. The settings range from a

minimum volume level of 00 to a maximum volume level of 16. When

being used as a loudspeaker, the device starts at the volume that it was at

when last switched off.

In order to avoid hearing damage due to excessive volume, the volume

settings for use with earphones are regulated as follows:

 When the volume reaches level 08, the volume warning icon (24)

begins to flash. You can now only increase the volume further if you

confirm the volume warning by briefly pressing the LOCK button (9).

 If the volume level during use as a loud speaker was set as higher than

level 08 and earphones were then inserted during use as a radio, the

volume will jump back to level 08. By pressing the VOLUME+ button

(13) again, the volume warning icon will begin to flash (24). You can

now only increase the volume further if you confirm the volume warning

by briefly pressing the LOCK button (9).

 If the volume level during use as a loud speaker or with earphones was

set as higher than level '08' and the device was then switched off, if it is

switched on again while earplugs are inserted, the volume will jump

back to level 08. By pressing the VOLUME+ button (13) again, the

volume warning icon will begin to flash (24). You can now only

increase the volume further if you confirm the volume warning by briefly

pressing the LOCK button (9).

8.5. Setting the reception sensitivity

If you wish to use the device in normal mode, slide the DX/LOCAL

selection switch (17) to the DX position.

If you only wish to receive stations with a high field strength, slide the

DX/LOCAL selection switch (17) to the LOCAL position. This is

recommended if, for example, you wish to receive a weak local station

that stronger national stations are blocking out.

8.6. Choosing a station

In order to achieve the best possible signal, pull out the telescopic aerial

(1) to its maximum length. The telescopic aerial (1) can be rotated. In this

way, the reception can be optimized.

The shortwave band SW is divided into nine sub-bands, SW1 to SW9

(see section titled 'Specifications'). To select individual sub-bands, now

press the BAND button (11) and select the SW band. Now press the

BAND button (11) for about approx. two seconds, until the SW icon

flashes on the screen. You can now use the UP (6) or DOWN (14) buttons

to select the SW sub-bands. When the SW icon (7) is no longer flashing

on the screen, you can begin searching for stations.

8.7. Automatic station scanning with auto-store function

The most convenient way of searching for and saving stations is the

automatic station scanning function with automatic channel saving (auto-

store function).

 Switch the device on.

 Next, choose the desired frequency band by pressing the BAND button

(11).

 Press the TIME/MEM button (15) for about three seconds to start

automatically scanning for stations. Automatic station scanning always

begins with the lowest frequency. PRESET (33) is displayed on the

screen and SCAN (32) is flashing.

 The multi-band radio (A) will now scan the entire frequency range for

stations with a strong signal. As soon as a station with a strong signal is

found, the frequency display briefly freezes on the screen (7) and the

memory location (35) that it is stored in will be briefly displayed on the

screen.

 The first 20 stations found will be stored directly in memory positions 1

to 20.

If all 20 memory locations are filled, the search will stop. The station

stored under memory location 1 is played.

Please note this will overwrite memory locations that are

already in use.

8.8. Manually scanning for stations:

 Switch the device on.

 Next, choose the desired frequency band by pressing the BAND button

(11).

 To begin the search in the direction of your choice, press the UP (6) or

DOWN (14) button for about one second. The search will stop at the

next station that is found and the frequency will be displayed on the

screen (7).

8.9. Setting stations manually

Instead of using the station search, you also have the option of configuring

stations manually. This makes it possible to find weaker stations as well. To

do this, proceed as follows:

To increase or decrease the frequency by one step, briefly press either the

UP (6) or DOWN (14) button respectively. The spacing of the steps varies

depending on the frequency band selected. It is >>0.1 MHz for FM,

>>10 kHz for MW, and >>0.005 MHz for SW.

8.10. Manually saving stations

It is possible to save 20 stations or frequencies per frequency band. To do

this, proceed as follows:

 Find a station that you would like to save.

 Briefly press the TIME/MEM button (15).

 The previously chosen memory location (35) and PRESET (33) are

displayed on the screen (7).

 Use the M- (2) or M+ (3) buttons to choose the memory location in

which you wish to store your station.

 Press the TIME/MEM button (15) to finish saving.

Please note this will overwrite memory locations that are

already in use.

8.11. Finding stored stations

 To go to a station that you have previously saved, use the M- (2) or M+

(3) buttons to choose the memory location in which your chosen station

is stored.

When replacing the batteries, the time settings are lost but

any saved stations will be retained.

8.12. Playback in stereo

Playback can only be in stereo quality when earphones are attached.

When this is the case, the STEREO icon (34) appears on the screen (7).

8.13. SLEEP timer

With the SLEEP timer, you can set a time between ten and 90 minutes,

after which your multi-band radio (A) will automatically switch off. This can

be set in intervals of ten minutes. Proceed as follows:

 Press the POWER button (8) to switch it off.

 Press the POWER button (8) for about one second, until a signal tone

sounds and the number 90 (for 90 minutes) appears on the screen (7).

 Now press the POWER button (8) until the desired number of minutes

has been reached (e.g., 40). Each time the POWER button (8) is

pressed, the duration until the radio switches off is reduced by ten

minutes.

 The multi-band radio (A) will now switch on and will switch off

automatically after the previously selected time (e.g., 40).

 The SLEEP icon (25) is visible on the screen (7) when the SLEEP timer is

activated.

 While the SLEEP timer is activated you can still change the frequency

band, begin scanning for stations, access saved stations and set the

volume.

 You can cancel the activated SLEEP timer by switching off the device.

8.14. Setting the alarm time

You can adjust the alarm time at any time. Ensure that the clock has been

set to the correct time. The alarm time can only be altered when the radio

is switched off. If it is on, press the POWER button (8) to switch it off.

Please note that the device will automatically return to default mode if no

button is pressed for approx. three seconds.

 Briefly press the ALARM button (12). The ALARM icon (27) displays the

currently selected alarm time on the screen (7).

 Now press the TIME/MEM button (15). The hour indicator now flashes.

By pressing the UP (6) or DOWN (14) buttons, you can set the alarm

time in hours. You can also hold down the buttons to move more quickly

through the numbers. Confirm your settings by pressing the TIME/MEM

button (15).

 The minute indicator now flashes. By pressing the UP (6) or DOWN

(14) buttons, you can set the alarm time in minutes. You can also hold

down the buttons to move more quickly through the numbers. Confirm

your settings by pressing the TIME/MEM button (15).

 By now pressing the UP (6) or DOWN (14) button, you can then select

whether you want the buzzer or radio to play when the alarm goes off.

Choose RAD for radio or BUZ for buzzer. Confirm your settings by

pressing the TIME/MEM button (15).

The alarm time has now been set.

8.15. Activating the alarm

When you have set the alarm time, you can activate the alarm function as

follows:

 Briefly press the ALARM button (12) with the device switched off. The

preset alarm time is displayed briefly, the ALARM icon (27) appears on

the screen, and the alarm is enabled.

 At the time the alarm was set for, the device will switch on automatically,

at the same frequency that it was last tuned to and in the same

frequency band. However, if you chose the BUZ alarm setting, you will

be woken up by the buzzer instead.

Please note that the alarm tone (radio or buzzer) will only

be played over the earphones if they are plugged in.

 To switch off the alarm sound, press the POWER button (8) or press the

SNOOZE button (5) to delay the alarm for about five more minutes. The

ALARM icon (27) flashes. If you previously selected the buzzer as the

alarm tone, you can switch on the radio during the snooze period.

Once the five minute snooze period if over, the alarm sound will switch

on again. If you press the BAND button (11) during the five minute

snooze period, the SNOOZE function will be deactivated but the alarm

function will remain activated.

 Press the ALARM button (12) again to disable the alarm. The ALARM

icon (27) is no longer shown on the screen.

ou can still use the device as normal when the alarm

function is activated. Please note:

 Radio alarm:

The automatic alarm will turn the radio on at the

same frequency that it was last tuned to, in the same

frequency band, and at the previously set volume.

 Buzzer alarm:

The automatic alarm will always be at a pre-set

volume. This volume cannot be changed.

8.16. Activating/disabling the button lock

Press the LOCK button (9) for about a second in order to activate the

button lock on the multi-band radio. The LOCK icon (26) will now flash on

the screen. Any further actions require the button lock to be deactivated

again by pressing and holding the LOCK button (9) again for about one

second. The LOCK icon (26) will no longer be flashing on the screen (7).

8.17. Connecting the earphones

So that you do not damage your hearing, reduce the volume to the lowest

level before you connect the earphones. You can then adjust the volume to

the required level. See also the section titled ‘Setting the volume.’

Do not use any earphones other than the SWE 200 A3 pair supplied.

Using other earphones can lead to harmful sound pressure levels.

Take care when using earphones. Listening at full volume for

prolonged periods can damage the user's hearing.

You can connect the SWE 200 A3 earphones supplied (C) to the

earphone socket (18). When the earphones are inserted, the loudspeaker

(16) is automatically switched off and the volume is automatically

reduced.

8.18. Storing the device when not in use

If you will not be using the device for a prolonged period of

time, remove any batteries that you may have inserted.

Keep the device in a cool, dry place. To protect it from dust,

we recommend storing it in the case (B) supplied.

9. Troubleshooting

The device will not switch on

 The batteries may be empty; replace with new batteries.

 Check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity.

Observe the marking on the battery housing and on the batteries. See

also the section titled ‘Inserting the batteries.’

 Check that the optional mains adapter is connected.

No radio reception, poor radio reception

 Pull out the telescopic aerial (1) as far as it will go and ensure it is

correctly oriented.

 Configure the station correctly. It may be necessary to start a new

search.

 Check that the DX/LOCAL selection switch (17) is in the correct

position. See also the section titled ‘Setting the reception sensitivity.’

No sound despite the device being switched on

 Check the volume settings.

 If a set of earphones are connected, the in-built loudspeaker is

switched off.

I cannot use the controls on the device

 Check whether the button lock is activated.

entrega el receptor de radio multibanda a otra persona, no olvide incluir

2.1. Uso previsto

Este receptor pertenece a la familia de aparatos de electrónica de

consumo y sirve para recibir y escuchar emisoras de radio. También se

puede utilizar como reloj y despertador. Solo está permitido su uso

personal, nunca con fines industriales o comerciales. Este aparato no se

puede utilizar en zonas con clima tropical. El fabricante declina cualquier

responsabilidad relacionada con los daños o las fallas que puedan

resultar de las modificaciones realizadas directamente por el usuario.

Utilice solo los accesorios indicados por el fabricante. Respete las normas

aplicables en cada caso a escala nacional o las leyes del país en el que

se utilice el aparato.

Tenga en cuenta que en cada país existen normativas locales distintas

sobre las bandas de frecuencias que se pueden captar libremente. La

información captada fuera de las bandas de frecuencias autorizadas no

1. Utilice solamente los auriculares (C) suministrados con el aparato, de

tipo: SWE 200 A3. Utilizar unos auriculares distintos puede generar una

presión acústica perjudicial para la salud.

2. No utilice los auriculares suministrados (C), de tipo: SWE 200 A3 con

otros aparatos de reproducción de audio.

No utilice los auriculares (C) a todo volumen. Pueden dañarle el oído y

molestar a los que le rodean. Aun cuando el aparato ha sido diseñado

para garantizar que nunca deje de percibir el ruido ambiental, ajuste el

volumen del sonido de manera que pueda seguir oyendo los sonidos de

su entorno.

En situaciones peligrosas que requieran toda su atención (por ejemplo, al

circular en un vehículo, trabajar en una máquina u otras situaciones), el

sonido puede afectar su capacidad de atención o provocar que no

perciba lo que pasa a su alrededor. En estas situaciones no debe utilizar

 El aparato siempre debe disponer de una ventilación suficiente (no lo

coloque en libreros, sobre una alfombra, sobre una cama o en

cualquier lugar donde las ranuras de ventilación queden tapadas; deje

al menos 4 in / 10 cm de separación en cada lado).

 El aparato no debe entrar en contacto con agua que pueda salpicar o

gotear, ni con fluidos agresivos, y no se debe utilizar cerca del agua.

En especial, se deberá evitar sumergir el aparato en líquidos. Tampoco

deje recipientes llenos de líquido, como jarrones o bebidas, sobre el

aparato o junto a él.

 No debe haber fuentes de peligro de incendio sobre el aparato o junto

a él (por ejemplo, velas encendidas).

 No deben penetrar cuerpos extraños en el interior del aparato.

 El aparato no debe estar sometido a variaciones excesivas de

temperatura ya que, de lo contrario, la humedad se puede condensar y

producir cortocircuitos. Sin embargo, cuando el aparato haya estado

sometido a fuertes variaciones de temperatura, espere a que alcance la

temperatura ambiente antes de ponerlo en funcionamiento (unas 2

 Se debe prestar particular atención cuando el receptor de radio

multibanda es utilizado por niños o personas con limitaciones físicas,

sensoriales o mentales o es utilizada cerca de ellos.

 Mantenga también fuera de su alcance las películas de plástico del

empaque. Existe peligro de asfixia.

 Para limpiar el receptor de radio multibanda no lo sumerja nunca ni lo

ponga bajo el chorro de agua.

 Si se chorrean las baterías, retírelas para evitar daños al receptor de

radio multibanda, El líquido de las pilas que se haya chorreado se

puede limpiar con un paño seco y absorbente. Utilice para ello unos

guantes apropiados para evitar cualquier contacto con la piel. En caso

de contacto con la piel o con los ojos, hay que lavar y enjuagar la

parte afectada inmediatamente con agua abundante y consultar a un

médico.

 Asegúrese siempre de instalar las baterías correctamente, tomando en

cuenta las marcas «+» y «-» en la batería y en el aparato.

 Siempre reemplace el juego completo de baterías a la vez,

asegurándose de no mezclar baterías viejas y nuevas, o de distintos

tipos.

 Retire las baterías agotadas del equipo para evitar posibles daños por

fugas.

 Nunca elimine las baterías en el fuego, excepto en condiciones de

incineración controlada. (De lo contrario, se puede provocar una

explosión.)

 Nunca intente recargas las baterías primarias, ya que esto puede

provocar que se chorreen, un incendio o una explosión.

sobrecalentamiento, fugas o explosión.

 Mantenga las baterías fuera del alcance de los niños, en especial las

conexiones dentro de los límites del cilindro trunco, como se define en

la figura 1.

Reparación, mantenimiento y limpieza

Será necesario reparar el aparato cuando haya sufrido daños, por

ejemplo, si la carcasa o el alimentador están dañados, si han entrado

líquidos o cuerpos extraños en su interior o cuando el aparato haya

estado expuesto a la lluvia o a la humedad. También será necesario

repararlo cuando no funcione perfectamente o se haya caído. Si detecta

humo, ruidos u olores extraños, desenchufe inmediatamente el aparato y

extraiga las pilas o retire el alimentador de la toma de corriente. En estos

casos, no se deberá volver a utilizar el aparato hasta que un técnico

especializado lo haya revisado. Encargue los trabajos de reparación

únicamente a técnicos cualificados. No abra nunca la carcasa del

aparato. Limpie el aparato con un paño limpio y seco, y nunca con

líquidos agresivos. No intente abrir la carcasa del aparato. De lo

contrario, se anulará la garantía.

Si el líquido de las pilas se derrama, un técnico especializado deberá

limpiar el aparato.

6.2. Pie de soporte

En la parte posterior del aparato hay un pie de soporte (21) con el que se

puede colocar el receptor de radio multibanda de manera oblicua.

7. Antes de poner en funcionamiento el aparato

Puede utilizar el aparato con las baterías que se incluyen (D) de tipo AA

(Mignon, LR6) o el alimentador opcional (no se incluye). El alimentador

debe contar con las especificaciones correspondientes que se señalan en

el capítulo «Datos técnicos».

No utilice ambos modos de alimentación al mismo tiempo.

de la flecha y retirándola. Coloque las baterías con los polos

correctamente orientados (tenga en cuenta los símbolos + y -), tal como se

muestra en la imagen inferior. El polo de las baterías viene indicado como

símbolo en las propias pilas y en el compartimento para las mismas. Al

colocar las baterías, asegúrese de que la cinta de tela quede debajo de

ellas. De esta forma las puede retirar más fácilmente cuando las

reemplace. Vuelva a colocar la tapa del compartimento de las baterías

(20) y deslícelo hacia arriba en dirección contraria a la flecha hasta que

encaje.

Si en la pantalla (7) ve el indicador de batería baja (30), significa que las

pilas están casi agotadas. Cámbielas inmediatamente por otras baterías

nuevas del mismo tipo, ya que las baterías agotadas tienen mayor riesgo

de chorrearse. Las baterías chorreadas pueden dañar el aparato.

Extraiga las baterías cuando no vaya a utilizar el aparato

durante un periodo de tiempo prolongado.

7.2. Conectar un alimentador

Retire las baterías del compartimento (20) en la parte posterior del

aparato, en caso de que haya baterías colocadas. Conecte el conector

del alimentador en la conexión (19) del receptor de radio multibanda (A).

A continuación, conecte el alimentador a una toma de corriente de fácil

acceso.

8. Puesta en funcionamiento

8.1. Encender y apagar el aparato

Para encender el aparato, pulse brevemente el botón «POWER» (8) una

vez. Cuando la radio está encendida, la pantalla (7) muestra la

frecuencia sintonizada, así como la banda de frecuencias:

FM Frecuencia modulada

MW Onda media

SW Onda corta

Para apagar el aparato, pulse de nuevo brevemente el botón «POWER»

(8). Cuando la radio está apagada, la pantalla (7) muestra la hora

actual:

8.2. Configurar la hora

La hora solamente se puede configurar cuando el aparato está apagado.

En caso de que esté encendido, apáguelo con el botón «POWER» (8).

Tenga en cuenta que el receptor de radio multibanda regresar a modo en

espera cuando transcurren 5 segundos sin ser operado. Los ajustes

realizados se almacenan.

 Presione el botón «TIME/MEM» (15). Al presionar los botones «UP»

(6) o «DOWN» (14) se puede seleccionar el formato de 12 o 24

horas. Confirme la selección presionando otra vez el botón

«TIME/MEM» (15).

 La indicación de horas parpadeará. Seleccione las horas correctas

presionando los botones «UP» (6) o «DOWN» (14). Para que las cifras

avancen más deprisa, puede mantener presionado el botón

correspondiente. Confirme la selección presionando el botón

«TIME/MEM» (15).

 La indicación de minutos parpadeará ahora. Seleccione los minutos

correctos presionando los botones «UP» (6) o «DOWN» (14). Para

que las cifras avancen más deprisa, puede mantener presionado el

botón correspondiente. Confirme la selección presionando el botón

«TIME/MEM» (15).

 Ya ha terminado de configurar el reloj.

 Si ha elegido el formato de 12 horas, en la pantalla (7) aparecerá el

símbolo «PM» (22) para las horas de la tarde.

Deberá cambiar la hora si viaja a otra zona horaria.

8.3. Iluminación de la pantalla

Cada vez que presione un botón, la pantalla se iluminará durante unos 5

segundos y luego volverá a apagarse.

8.4. Ajustar el volumen

Presionando los botones «VOL-» (4) y «VOL+» (13) puede ajustar el

volumen a su gusto. Se puede ajustar desde el nivel «00» (volumen

mínimo) hasta el nivel «16» (volumen máximo). En modo de altavoces, al

encender el aparato, se utilizará el nivel de volumen que se ajustó la

última vez.

A fin de evitar daños a la audición por volumen excesivo, el ajuste de

volumen en modo con auriculares está reglamentado de la siguiente

forma:

 Cuando el ajuste de volumen llega al nivel «08», empezara a

parpadear en la pantalla el símbolo de advertencia por volumen (24).

Podrá seguir aumentando el volumen si previamente confirma la

advertencia de volumen presionando brevemente el botón «LOCK» (9).

 Cuando el volumen en modo de altavoces es mayor al nivel «08», y

luego en funcionamiento continuo se conectan los auriculares, el

volumen regresa de inmediato al nivel «08». Si vuelve a presionar el

botón «VOLUME +» (13), comenzará a parpadear el símbolo de

advertencia por volumen (24). Podrá seguir aumentando el volumen si

previamente confirma la advertencia de volumen presionando

brevemente el botón «LOCK» (9).

 Cuando el volumen en modo de altavoces o auriculares es mayor al

nivel «08», y se apaga el aparato, al volver a encenderse el volumen

regresa al nivel «08» si están conectados los auriculares. Si vuelve a

presionar el botón «VOLUME +» (13), comenzará a parpadear el

símbolo de advertencia por volumen (24). Podrá seguir aumentando el

volumen si previamente confirma la advertencia de volumen

presionando brevemente el botón «LOCK» (9).

8.5. Definir la sensibilidad de recepción

Desplace el selector «DX/LOCAL» (17) a la posición «DX» si desea

utilizar el aparato con el modo normal.

Desplace el selector «DX/LOCAL» (17) a la posición «LOCAL» si

solamente desea sintonizar emisoras con intensidades de campo

elevadas. Es recomendable utilizarlo, por ejemplo, cuando la potente

señal de una emisora suprarregional se superpone a la señal débil de la

emisora local que desea escuchar.

8.6. Seleccionar una emisora

Para garantizar la mejor recepción posible, despliegue completamente la

antena telescópica (1) antes de sintonizar una emisora. La antena

telescópica (1) se puede girar. Así podrá conseguir una recepción

óptima.

La banda de la onda corta («SW») se subdivide en 9 subbandas, de la

«SW1» a la «SW9»; véase el capítulo «Datos técnicos» a este respecto).

Para seleccionar cada una de las subbandas, presione primero el botón

«BANDA» (11) y seleccione la banda «SW». Presione el botón «BAND»

(11) durante unos dos segundos, hasta el símbolo «SW» parpadee en la

pantalla. Con los botones «UP» (6) o «DOWN» (14) se puede

seleccionar las subbandas «SW». Si ya no parpadea en la pantalla (7) el

símbolo «SW», puede continuar con la búsqueda de emisoras.

8.7. Búsqueda automática de emisoras con la función Auto-

Store

La manera más cómoda de buscar emisoras y guardarlas es la búsqueda

automática de emisoras con guardado automático (función Auto-Store).

 Encienda el aparato.

 En primer lugar, seleccione la banda de frecuencias deseada con el

botón «BAND» (11).

 Presione el botón «TIME/MEM» (15) durante unos 3 segundos para

iniciar la búsqueda automática de emisoras. La búsqueda automática

siempre empieza por las frecuencias más bajas. En la pantalla se

enciende «PRESET» (33) y parpadea «SCAN»“ (32).

 El receptor de radio multibanda (A) examinará toda la banda de

frecuencias en busca de emisoras con buena señal. En la pantalla (7)

se detiene brevemente la indicación de frecuencias tan pronto como

encuentra una emisora con señal suficiente, y se muestra brevemente la

memoria (35) en donde está almacenada esta emisora.

 Las primeras 20 emisoras que encuentre se guardarán directamente en

las memorias 1 a 20.

Cuando las 20 memorias estén ocupadas, terminará la búsqueda. Se

escuchará directamente la emisora guardada de la memoria 1.

Tenga en cuenta que es posible sobrescribir las memorias

ya guardadas.

8.8. Búsqueda manual de emisoras

 Encienda el aparato.

 En primer lugar, seleccione la banda de frecuencias deseada con el

botón «BAND» (11).

 Presione el botón «UP» (6) y «DOWN» (14) durante un segundo para

empezar la búsqueda en la dirección escogida. La búsqueda se

detendrá al encontrar una emisora y la frecuencia de la misma se

mostrará en la pantalla (7).

8.9. Sintonización manual de emisoras

Además de la búsqueda de emisoras, también tiene la posibilidad de

sintonizar emisoras manualmente. De este modo es posible encontrar

emisoras con señal débil. Para hacerlo, proceda de la siguiente manera:

Presione brevemente los botones «UP» (6) y «DOWN» (14) para reducir

o aumentar la frecuencia un intervalo. Los intervalos son distintos en

función de la banda de frecuencias y son en «FM»>>0.1MHz; en

«MW»>>10KHz y en «SW»>>0.005MHz.

8.10. Guardar emisoras manualmente

Puede guardar 20 emisoras o frecuencias en cada banda de frecuencias.

Para hacerlo, proceda de la siguiente manera:

 Busque la emisora que desea guardar.

 Presione brevemente el botón «TIME/MEM» (15).

 En la pantalla (7), parpadeará la última memoria seleccionada (35) y

«PRESET» (33).

 Con los botones «M-» (2) o «M+» (3), seleccione la memoria en la que

desea guardar la emisora.

 Presione el botón «TIME/MEM» (15) para que se guarde.

Tenga en cuenta que es posible sobrescribir las memorias

ya guardadas.

8.11. Acceder a emisoras guardadas

 Para acceder a una emisora guardada anteriormente, seleccione la

memoria de la emisora guardada que desee con los botones «M-» (2)

y «M+» (3).

Cuando se cambian las baterías, la hora configurada se

pierde, pero no las emisoras guardadas.

8.12. Reproducción en estéreo

La reproducción de una emisora con calidad estéreo solamente es posible

si se utilizan auriculares. En ese caso, en la pantalla (7) aparecerá el

símbolo «STEREO» (34).

8.13. Temporizador de apagado automático (SLEEP)

Con el temporizador de apagado automático (SLEEP) puede definir un

tiempo (entre 10 y 90 minutos) para que una vez haya transcurrido el

receptor de radio multibanda (A) se apague automáticamente. Se pueden

elegir valores con intervalos de 10 minutos. Para hacerlo, proceda de la

siguiente manera:

 Apague el aparato con el botón «POWER» (8).

 Presione el botón «POWER» (8) durante un segundo, hasta que suene

una señal y en la pantalla (7) aparezca la cifra 90 (durante 90

minutos).

 Presione el botón «POWER» (8) las veces necesarias hasta ver los

minutos deseados (por ejemplo, 40). Cada vez que presione el botón

«POWER» (8), el tiempo para el apagado automático se reducirá 10

minutos.

 El receptor de radio multibanda (A) se encenderá y se apagará

automáticamente una vez transcurridos los minutos que haya definido

(por ejemplo, 40).

 En la pantalla (7) se puede ver que el temporizador de apagado

automático está activado por el símbolo «SLEEP» (25).

 Aunque haya un temporizador de apagado automático activado,

podrá cambiar de banda de frecuencias, iniciar la búsqueda de

emisoras, acceder a emisoras guardadas y ajustar el volumen.

 Puede cancelar el temporizador de apagado automático apagando el

aparato usted mismo.

8.14. Configurar la hora del despertador (alarma)

Tiene la posibilidad de configurar un despertador. Asegúrese de que la

hora esté correctamente configurada. La hora del despertador solamente

se puede configurar cuando el aparato está apagado. En caso de que

esté encendido, apáguelo con el botón «POWER» (8). Tenga en cuenta

que el aparato regresará automáticamente al modo estándar si no se

presiona ningún botón durante 3 segundos.

 Presione brevemente el botón «ALARM» (12). En la pantalla (7) se

mostrará el símbolo «ALARM» (27) y el despertador actual.

 Presione ahora el botón «TIME/MEM» (15). La indicación de horas

parpadeará. Seleccione las horas presionando los botones «UP» (6) o

«DOWN» (14). Para que las cifras avancen más deprisa, puede

mantener presionados los botones. Confirme la selección presionando

el botón «TIME/MEM» (15).

 La indicación de minutos parpadeará ahora. Seleccione los minutos

presionando los botones «UP» (6) o «DOWN» (14). Para que las cifras

avancen más deprisa, puede mantener presionados los botones.

Confirme la selección presionando el botón «TIME/MEM» (15).

 Al presionar los botones «UP» (6) o «DOWN» (14) también tiene la

posibilidad de configurar si quiere que suene la radio o un zumbido

con la alarma. Seleccione «RAD» para radio o «BUZ» para un

zumbido. Confirme la selección presionando el botón «TIME/MEM»

(15).

Ya ha terminado de configurar el despertador.

8.15. Activar la función de despertador

Una vez configurada la hora del despertador, puede activar la función de

despertador así:

 En estado desactivado, presione brevemente el botón «ALARM» (12).

Se mostrará brevemente la hora de alarma configurada, aparecerá el

símbolo «ALARM» (27) en la pantalla y quedará activado el

despertador.

 A la hora definida para la alarma, el aparato se enciende

automáticamente con la última frecuencia sintonizada de la última

banda de frecuencias seleccionada. Sin embargo, si al configurar el

despertador ha elegido «BUZ», se despertará con un zumbido.

Tenga en cuenta que si están conectados los auriculares, el

sonido del despertador (radio o zumbido) solo sonará por

los auriculares.

 Presione brevemente el botón «POWER» (8) para detener el sonido del

despertador o presione el botón «SNOOZE» (5) para posponer unos 5

minutos la función de despertador. Parpadeará el símbolo «ALARM»

(27). Si previamente seleccionó el zumbido como sonido de

despertador, podrá encender la radio durante el intervalo de pausa.

Tras 5 minutos de pausa, el despertador volverá a sonar. Si durante la

pausa de 5 minutos, presiona el botón «BAND» (11), la función

«SNOOZE» se desactivará, pero la función de despertador continuará

activada.

 Para desactivar la función de despertador, presione nuevamente el

botón «ALARM» (12). Se apagará el símbolo «ALARM» (27).

unque la función de despertador esté activada, el

aparato se puede utilizar normalmente. Tenga en cuenta

lo siguiente:

 Despertarse con la radio:

El despertador se enciende automáticamente con la

última frecuencia sintonizada de la última banda de

frecuencias seleccionada y el último volumen

seleccionado.

 Despertarse con el zumbido:

El despertador se enciende automáticamente con el

volumen seleccionado. Este volumen no se puede

modificar.

8.16. Activar y desactivar el bloqueo de los botones

Presione el botón «LOCK» (9) durante un segundo para activar el

bloqueo de los botones del receptor de radio multibanda. En la pantalla

parpadeará el símbolo «LOCK» (26). Solo podrá volver a utilizar los

botones si desactiva el bloqueo de los mismos volviendo a presionar el

botón «LOCK» (9) durante un segundo. En la pantalla (7), ya no

parpadeará el símbolo «LOCK» (26).

8.17. Conectar los auriculares

Antes de conectar los auriculares, ajuste el volumen al nivel más bajo

para evitar que sus oídos puedan sufrir daños. Después podrá ajustar el

volumen al nivel que desee. Véase también el capítulo «Ajustar el

volumen» a este respecto.

Utilice solamente los auriculares SWE 200 A3 suministrados. Utilizar unos

auriculares distintos puede generar una presión acústica perjudicial para

la salud.

Tenga cuidado a la hora de utilizar auriculares. Escuchar

sonido durante mucho tiempo a un volumen elevado puede

dañar el aparato auditivo del usuario.

Puede conectar los auriculares suministrados SWE 200 A3 (C) en la

conexión para auriculares (18). Una vez que los auriculares están

conectados, el altavoz (16) se desactiva automáticamente y se reduce

automáticamente el volumen.

8.18. Almacenamiento cuando no se utiliza

Si no va a utilizar el aparato durante un largo periodo de

tiempo, extraiga las baterías (si las había colocado).

Guarde el aparato en un lugar fresco y seco.

Recomendamos utilizar la funda (B) suministrada para

guardar el aparato y protegerlo del polvo.

9. Solución de problemas

El aparato no se enciende

 Puede que las baterías estén gastadas; ponga baterías nuevas.

 Compruebe que las baterías estén correctamente colocadas

(orientación de los polos). Consulte los símbolos en el compartimento

de las baterías y en las mismas baterías a este respecto. Véase

también el capítulo «Colocar las baterías».

 Compruebe que el alimentador opcional esté enchufado a una toma

de corriente.

No recibe señales de radio, mala calidad de recepción

 Despliegue la antena telescópica (1) por completo y oriéntela

correctamente.

 Sintonice la emisora correctamente. En caso necesario, inicie de

nuevo la búsqueda de emisoras.

 Compruebe que el selector «DX/LOCAL» (17) esté en la posición

correcta. Véase también el capítulo «Definir la sensibilidad de

recepción» a este respecto.

No hay sonido pero el aparato está encendido

 Compruebe el volumen.

 Si hay unos auriculares conectados, el altavoz desactiva.

Los botones no funcionan

 Compruebe que el bloqueo de botones no esté activado.

10. Información medioambiental y eliminación

Eliminación del empaque

Separe el empaque antes de eliminarlo. Elimine el

empaque de acuerdo con el servicio de recolección

municipal.

Eliminación de aparatos usados

¡No tire el aparato usado con la basura común! Si en el

futuro ya no usara este aparato, elimínelo de acuerdo

con las normas correspondientes de su estado o país.
