Battery pack
If the batlery pack is mishandled, the balt_'ry pack can burst, cause a fire or ev_.n ch_.mical
burns. Observe the following caulions.
• Do not disassemble.
• Do not crush and do not expose the battery pack to any shock or force such as
hammering, dropping or stepping on it.
• Do not short circuit and do not allow metal objects to come into contact with the battery

• Do not expose to high temperature above 60°C (I 40°F) such as ill direct sunlight or in a

Battery charger
Even it the ( HAR(-;E lamp is not lit. tile b¢,ttc'ry clmrgcr is not disconnc, ctcd lbom the AC
power source (mains) as long as it is connected to tile wall outlet (wall socket). If some
trouble occurs while using tile battery charger, immediately shut off tile power by
disconnecting tile plug from tile wall outlet (wall socket).

About water-proof, dust-proof, and
shock-proof performance of the camera
This camera is equipped to be water-proof, dust-proof and shock-proof.
Damage caused from misuse, abuse or failure to properly maiutaiu the camera
is not covered by the limited warranty.
• This camera is water-prooffdust-proof equivalent to IEC60529 IP58. The
camera is operable up to a water depth of 3 m for 60 minutes.
• Do not directly subject the camera to flowing water such as tap water.
• Do not use in hot springs.
• Use the camera in the recommeuded operating water temperature range of
10°C to +40°C (14°F to 104°F).
• Conlimning to MIL-STD 810F Method 516.5-Shock standards, this product
has passed lesti_lg when dropped from a height o[ 1.5 Ill above a 5-cm thick
plywood board".
:"Depending on use conditions and circumstances, no guarantee is made regarding
damage to, malfunction of, or the water=proof perlormance of this camera.
• As for dust-proof/shock-proof performance, there is no guarantee that the
camera will not become scratched or dented.
• Sometimes water-proof performance is lost if the camera is subjected to a
strong shock such as from being dropped. We recommend the camera be
inspected at an authorized repair shop R_r a fee.
• Accessories supplied do not meet water-proof, dust-proof, and shock-proof
specifications.
Notes before using the camera under/near water
• Make sure that no foreign llnatter such as sand, hair, or dirt gets inside tile
battery/memory card cover or multi-connector cover. Even a small amount
of foreign matter may lead to water entering the camera.
• Confirm that the sealing gasket and its
mating surfaces have not become scratched.
Even a small scratch may lead to water
entering the camera. If the sealing gasket or
its matiug surfaces become scratched, take
the camera to an authorized repair shop to
have the sealing gasket replaced li_)ra fee.
• If dirt or sand gets on the sealing gasket or (_) Sealing gasket
its mating surfaces, wipe the area clean with @ Surface contacting the
a soft cloth that will not leave behind any sealing gasket
fibers. Do net use a sharp-pointed
implemeut to prevent the sealing gasket and
its matiug surfaces from becoming scratched.

• Do not open/close the battery/memory card cover or multi-connector cover
with wet or sandy hands or near water. There is a risk this will lead to sand or
water getting inside. Before opening the cover, perform the procedure
described in "Cleaning after using the camera under/near water".
• Open the cover with the camera completely dry.
• Always confirm that the battery/memory card cover and multi-connector
cover have been securely locked.
Notes on using the camera under/near water
Do not subject the camerz_ to shock such as from jumping into v_:_ter.
Do not open and close the battery/memory card cover or multi-connector
cover while under/near water.
Use a separately available housing (Marine Pack) if' going more than
3 meters under water.
This camera sinks in water. Place your hand through the wrist strap to
prevent the camera from sinking.
Faint, white, circular spots may appear in under-water flash photos due to
reflections off of floating objects. This is not a malfunction.
Select _ (Underwater) in Scene Selection to shoot underwater with less
distortion.
If water drops or other foreign matter is present on the lens, you will be
unable to record clear images.
Cleaning after using the camera under/near
water
• Alv_z_ys clean the camera with wz_ter after use
within 60 minutes, and do not open the battery/
memory card cover before cleaning is finished.
Sand or water may get inside places where it
cannot be seen. If not rinsed, water-proof
perlbrmance will be degraded.
• Allow the camera to sit in pure water poured into a cleaning bowl for more
than 5 minutes. Then, gently shake the camera, press each button, slide the
zoom (W/T) lever or the lens cover inside the water, to clean away any salt,
sand or other matter lodged around the buttons or the lens cover.
• After rinsing, wipe away water drops with a soft cloth. Allow the camera to
dry completely in a shady location with good ventilation. Do not blow dry
with a hair dryer as there is a risk of deformation and/or degraded water-
proof performance.
• This camera is constructed to drain water. Water will drain from openings
around the (-)N/OFF (Power) button, zoom (W/T) lever, and other controls.
After removing from water, place the camera on a dry cloth for a while to
allow water to drain.
• Bubbles may appear when the camera is placed under water. This is not a
malfunction.

• The camera body may become discolored if it comes in contact with
sunscreen or suntan oil. If the camera does come ill contact with sunscreen or
suntan oil, quickly wipe it clean.
• Do not allow the camera to sit with salt water inside or on the surl3ce. This
may lead to corrosion or discoloration, and degradation of water-proof
performance.
• To maintain the water-proof performance, we recommend that once a year
you take the camera to your dealer, or to an authorized repair shop, to have
the sealing gasket of the battery/memory card cover, or of the multi-
connector cover replaced for a fee.

Notes on using the camera
Changing the language setting
The scrcen language can be changed if' necessary.
To change the language selling, touch _, then select _ (Settings)
?_" (Main Settings) -"'+ [Language Setting].
Internal memory and memory card back up
Do not turn off the camera, remove the battery pack, or remm, e the memory
card while the access hunp is lit. Otherwise, the internal memory data or the
memory card may be damaged. Be sure to make a backup copy to protect your
data.
On database files
When you insert a memory card without a database file into the camera and
turn on the power, part of the memo W card capacity is used to automatically
create a database file. It may take some time until you can perform the next
operation.
Notes on recording/playback
• To ensure stable operations of the memory card, v_e recommend that you use
this camera to format any memory card being used with this camera lk)r the
first time. Note that formatting will erase all data recorded on the memory
card. This data cannot be restored. Be sure to back-up any important data to a
PC or other storage location.
• Before you star1 recording, make a trial recording to make sure that the
camera is working correctly.
• Do not aim the camera at the sun or other bright light. It may cause the
malfunction of the camera.
• Do not use the camera near a location that generates strong radio waves or
emits radiation. Otherwise, the camera may not properly record or play back
images.
• If moisture condensation occurs, remove it belk)re using the camera.
• Do not shake or strike the camera. It may cause a malfunction and you may
not be able to record images. Furthermore, the recording media may become
unusable or image data may be damaged.
• Clean the flash surface before use. The heat of flash emission may cause dirt
on the flash surface to become discolored or to stick to the flash surface,
resulting in insufficient light emission.

Notes on the LCD screen
• The LCD screen is manufactured using extremely high-precision technology
so over 99.99% of the pixels are operational for effcctive use. However,
some tiny black and/or bright dots (white, red, blue or green) may appear on
the LCD screen. These dots are a normal result of the manufacturing process,
and do not affect the recording.
• Do not press against the LCD screen. The screen may be discolorcd and that
may cause a malfunction.
Please use Sony genuine accessories
If"you use accessories manufactured by companies other than Sony, this could
cause a camera trouble.
• Using other manufacturers' camera cases with magnets could cause a power
supply trouble.
On camera's temperature
Your camera and battery may get warm due to continuous use, but it is not a
malfunction.
On the overheat protection
Depending on tile camera and battery temperature, you may be unable to
record movies or the power may turn off automatically to protect the camera.
A message will be displayed on the LCD screen before the power turns off or
yOU call no longer record movies.
On image data compatibility
• Tile camera conforms vdth DCF (Design rule for Camera File system)
universal standard established by JEITA (Japan Electronics and Information
Technology Industries Association).
• Sony does not guarantee that the camera will play back images recorded or
edited with other equipment, or that other equipment will play back images
recorded with the camera.
Warning on copyright
Television programs, fihns, videotapes, and other materials may be
copyrighted. Unauthorized recording of such materials may be contrary to the
provisions of the copyright laws.
No compensation for damaged content or recording failure
Sony cannot compensate for failure to record or loss or damage of recorded
content due to a malfunction of the camera or recording media, etc.

Charging the battery pack
Insert the battery pack into the
battery charger.
• You can charge the battery even when it is
partially charged.

3 When charging is finished, disconnect the battery

Charging time
• The table above shows the time required to charge a fully depleted battery pack at
a temperature of 25°C (77°F). Charging may take longer depending on conditions
of use aud circumstances.
• Connect tile battery charger to the nearest wall outlet (wall socket).
• When charging is finished, disconnect tile power cord (mains lead) from tile wall
outlet (wall socket), and remove tile battery pack from the battery charger.
• Be sure to use the battery pack or tile battery charger of the genuine Sony brand.

Memory card that you can use
The following memery cards arc conlpatible with this cmnera: "Memory Stick
PRO Due" media, "Memory Stick PRO-HG Due" media, "Memory Stick
Duo" media, SD memory cards and SDHC memory cards. MultiMediaCard is
net compatible.
In this manual, the term "Memory Stick Due" media is used to refer to
"Memory Stick PRO Duo" media, "Memory Stick PRO-HG Due" media and
"Memory Stick Due" media.
When rccerding movies, it is recommended that yeu use the following
memory cards:

To remove the memory card
Access lamp Make sure that the access htmp is net lit,
then push the memory card in once.

• Never remove the memory card/the battery pack whell the access lamp is lit. This
may cause damage to data or the memory card.
When there is no memory card inserted
Images are stercd in the camera's internal memory (approximately 45 MB).
To copy images from the internal memory to a memory card, insert a memory
card in the camera, then touch _ -_ _,_ (Settings) -_ _ (Memory Card

Checking the remaining battery charge
A remaining charge indicator appears on th,,."LCD screen.

• It takes about one minute until the correct remaining charge indicator appears.
• The remaining charge indicator may not be correct under certain circumstances.
• When [Power Save] is set to [Standard] or [Stamina], if you do not operate the
camera for a certain period of time while the power is on, the LCD screen becomes
clark, then the camera turns off automatically (Auto power-off function).
• To keep clean battery pack terminal and prevent short-circuiting, place the battery
pack in a plastic bag, etc. when carrying and storing to isolate it from other metal
objects, etc.

1Turn on your computer, and insert the CD-ROM
(supplied) into the CD-ROM drive.
2 Click [Cyber-shot Handbook].

Cleaning the camera surface
Clean the c'mnera surli_ce with _ sol: cloth slightly moistened with water, then wipe
tire surface with a dry cloth. To prevent damage to the finish or casing:
Do not expose tire camera to chemical products such as thinner, benzine, alcohol,
disposable cloths, insect repellent, suuscreen or insecticide.
Do not touch the camera with any of tire above on your hand.
Do not leave the camera in contact with rubber or vinyl lor a long time.
On operating temperatures
Your cmnera is designed for use under tire temperatures between 10°C and +40°C
(14°F and 104°F). Shooting in extremely cold or hot places that exceed this range is
not recommended.
On the internal rechargeable backup battery
This c'_mlel'ah_lsan internal rechargeahle b_ttery lor l'aaintaining the &_te _md time
and other settings regardless of whether tire power is on or off.
This rechargeable battery is continually charged as long as you are using the camera.
However, if you use the camera lot only short periods, it discharges gradually, and if
you do not use the camera at all lor about one mouth it becomes completely
discharged, lu this case, be sure to charge this rechargeable battery belore using the
camera.
However, even if this rechargeable hattery is not charged, you can still use tire
camera, but the date and time will not be indicated.

Acerca del rendimiento a prueba de
agua, a prueba de polvo, y a prueba de
golpes de la camara
Esta cfimara est:i equipada para ser a prueba de agua, a prueba de polvo y a
prueba de golpes. Los dafios ocasionados por un uso indebido, abuso o pot no
realizar el mantenimiento debido a la cfimara no est_1n cubiertos por la garantfa
limitada.
• Esta cfimara es a prueba de agua/a prueba de polvo equivalente a IEC60529
IP58. La cfimara se puede utilizar en una profundidad de hasta 3 m durante
60 rain (minuto).
• No someta la cfimara directamente a agua corriente tal como al agua del
grifo.
• No la utilice en balnearios de aguas termales.
• Utilice la cfimara en el tango de temperatura de agua recomendado de 10°C
a +40°C
• En coni'ormidad con los est_1ndares MIL-STD 81 OF Method 516.5-Shock,
este producto ha pasado las pruebas cuando se ha dcjado caer de una altura
de 1_5 m encima de un tablero de madera contrachapada de 5 cm de espesor '.

Notas antes de utilizar la camara bajo/cerca del agua
• Asegtlrese de que no entre materia extrafia tal como arena, pelos, o suciedad
dentro de la tapa de la baterfa/tarjeta de memoria ni de la tapa del conector
mtiltiple, lncluso una pequefia cantidad de materia extrafia puede Jar lugar a
que entre agua en la c_hnara.
• Confirme que la junta de sellado y sus
superficies de acoplmniento no se han
rayado. Incluso un pequefio arafiazo puede
Jar lugar a entrada de agua en la cfimara. Si
la junta de sellado o sus superl]cies de
acoplamiento se rayan, lleve la cfimara a un
taller de reparacidn autorizado para que le
sustituyan la junta de sellado, pagando por (_) Junta de seilado

• Si entra suciedad o arena en la junta dc de la junta de sellado
sellado o sus superficies de acoplamiento,
limpie el firea con un patio suave que no dcje
ning6n tipo de fibras. No utilice un implemento puntiagudo para evitar que la
junta de sellado y sus superficies de acoplamiento se rayen.
• No abra/cierre la tapa de la baterfa/tarjeta de memoria ni la tapa del conector
mfiltiple con las manos mojadas o manchadas de arena ni cerca del agua.
Existe el riesgo de que esto dd lugar a que la arena o el agua entre en la
cfimara. Antes de abrir la tapa, realice el procedimiento descrito en
"Limpieza de la cfimara despuds de utilizarla bajo/cerca del agua".
• Abra la tapa con la cfimara completamente seca.
• Confirme siempre que la tapa de la baterfa/tarjeta de memoria y la tapa del
conector m61fiple han sido bloqueadas firmemente.

• No someta la c_hnara a golpes tales como saltando al agua.
• No abra y cierre la tapa de la baterfa/tarjeta de memoria ni la tapa del

• Utilice una envoltura (caja marina) disponible por separado siva a
sumergirse m_1sde 3 m b_tio el agua.
• Esta cfimara se hunde en el agua. Pase la mano a travds de la correa para
mufieca para evitar que la cfimara se hunda.
• Es posible que aparezcan puntos circulams blancos ddbiles en }i.>tostomadas
bajo el agua con }'lash debido al reflcjo de objetos flotantes. Esto no es un
fallo de funcionamiento.
• Seleccione _ (Submarino) en Seleccidn escena para tomar im_igenes b@)
el agua cola menos distorsidn.
• Si hay gotas de agua u otra material extrafia en el objetivo, no podr5 grabar
im_igenes claras.

Limpieza de la camara despues de utilizarla _______ /
bajo/cerca del agua
• Limpie sit:mpre la c:hnara con agu:t despuds de
utilizarla antes de transcurrir 60 min (minuto), y
no abra la tapa de la baterfidtarjeta de menloria
antes de terminar de limpiarla. La arena y el agua "___
pueden entrar en lugares donde no se pueden vet.
Si no se enjuaga, el rendimiento a prueba de agua se deteriorar_L
• Dcje la c_hnara en agua dulce vertida dentro del cuenco de limpieza durante
mils de 5 rain (minuto). Despuds, sacuda suavemente la c:imara, pulse cada
botdn, deslice la palanca del zoom (W/T) o la tapa del objetivo demm del
agua, para limpiar cualquier rcsto de sal, arena o materia retenida alrededor
de los botones o la tapa del objetiw).
• Despuds de enjuagarla, limpie las gotas de agua con un patio suave. Deje que
la c:imara se seque completamente en un lugar a la sombra con buena
ventilacidn. No sople aire con un secador para el pelo porque existe el riesgo
de que se pmduzcan deformaciones y/o que el rendimiento a prueba de agua
se deteriore.
• Esta cfimara est_ fabricada de flmna que drene el agua. El agua se drcnarfi
pot las aberturas alrededor del botdn ON/OFF (Alimentacidn), palanca del
zoom (W/T), y otros contmles. Despuds de sacarla del agua, ponga la cfimara
sobre uu patio seco durante un rato para permitir que el agua se drene.
• Es posible que aparezcau burbujas cuando la cfimara sea puesta bajo el agua.
Esto no es un fallo de funcionamiento.
• Es posible que el cuerpo de la c_hnara pierda color si entra en contacto con

• Limpie la superficie del flash antes de ulilizarlo. E1 calor de la emisidn del
flash podr:i hacer clue la suciedad en la superficie del flash se descolore o se
adhiera en ella, ocasionando una insuficiente emisidn de luz.

Notas sobre la pantalla LCD
• La pantalla LCD est_i fabricada utilizando tecnologfa de muy alta precisidn
por lo que mils del 99,99% de los pfxeles son operativos para uso efcctivo.
Sin embargo, es posible que aparezcan algunos pumos diminutos negros y/o
brillames (blancos, rojos, azules o verdes) en la pantalla LCD. Estos puntos
son un resultado normal del proceso de fabricacidn, y no afectan a la
grabacidn.
• No presione la pantalla LCD. La pantalla podr_i decolorarse y eso podrfa
ocasionar un llnal funcionamiento.
Por favor, utilice accesorios Sony genuinos
Si utiliza accesorios fabricados por compafifas distintas dc Sony, podr_1
ocasionar un problema en la c_imara.
• La utilizacidn de fundas de c_imara de otros fabricantes con imanes podrfi
ocasionar un problema de suministro de alimentaci6n.
Acerca de la temperatura de la c_imara
La c_hnara y la baterfa pueden calentarse debido a una utilizacidn continua,
pero esto no es un del_cto de funcionamiento.
Acerca de la proteccion contra el recalentamiento
Dependiendo de la temperatura de la c_hnara y de la baterfa, es posiblc que no
pueda grabar pelfculas o que la alimentacidn se desconecte automfiticamente
para proteger la c_imara.
Se visualizar_i un mensaje en la pantalla LCD antes de que se desconecte la
alimentaci6n o ya no podr_i grabar pelfculas.
Acerca de la compatibilidad de los datos de imagen
• La c:hnara cumple con la norma universal DCF (Design rule for Camera File
system) establecida pot la JEITA (Japan Electronics and hfformation
Technology Industries Association).
• Sony no garantiza que la c:hnara pueda reproducir imfigenes grabadas o
editadas con otro equipo, ni que otros equipos puedan reproducir imfigenes

tarjetas de memoria SD y SDHC. MultiMediaCard no es compatible.
En este manual, el tdrmino "Memory Stick Duo" se utiliza para rel)rirse a

otros ajustes independientemente de si la alimentacidn estgi conectada o
desconectada.
Esta baterfa recargable se carga contimmmente siempre que estfi utilizando la
cMnara. Sin embargo, si utiliza la cahnara solamente din'ante cortos perlodos se
descargaM gradualmente, y si no la utiliza en absoluto durante un rues se descargaM
completamente. En este caso, asegfirese de cargar esta baterfa recargable antes de
utilizar la cahnara.
Sin embargo, aunque esta bater/a recargable no estd cargada, aOn podrfi utilizar la
cghnara, pero la fecha y la hora no se indicaMn.
