Complete shingle application on roof deck before
applying hip and ridge shingles. Hip shingles must
be applied before applying ridge shingles.
All hip and ridge shingles are applied with
an 8" exposure.
Note: If a new roof is being applied over an
existing roof, remove the old hip and ridge
shingles to obtain a level application.
Use nails only when installing this product. Nails
must be corrosion resistant, 11 or 12 gauge, with
heads at least
3
⁄8" in diameter.
Standard Fastening Pattern: One nail should be
placed 8½" back from the exposed end and ½" in
for each side edge. (Fig. I)
Application
1. Begin hip application at the eave working
toward the ridge.
Ia. Begin ridge application opposite the prevailing
wind direction. (Fig. 2)
2. Cut rst hip and ridge 8" back from the
exposed end. Use the top portion of the
shingle with sealant as the “starter” hip or
ridge shingle. (Fig. 2)
3. Install this “starter” shingle positioned at
the leading edge of the hip or ridge. Follow
Standard Fastening Pattern in Fig. I.
4. Completely cover “starter” shingle with the
8" exposed portion of the next hip and ridge
shingle. (Fig. 3)
5. Fasten each shingle through the dimensional
fold, following the Standard Fastening
Pattern in Fig. I. All nails must be covered by
succeeding shingles. Apply remaining hip and
ridge shingles in the same manner.
6. Cut nal ridge shingle from the 8" exposed
portion of a hip and ridge shingle. Cut piece
an appropriate length to the end of the ridge.

7. Standard fastening pattern: Fasten nal piece
with two nails, ½" in from each side edge and
I" in from the end of the ridge. Cover nail with
roof cement. (Fig. 4)

Hip and Ridge Shingles

Termine la aplicación de tejas en la estructura base
del techo antes de aplicar las tejas para caballetes
y cumbreras. Las tejas de caballete tienen que
colocarse antes que las tejas de cumbrera. Todas
las tejas de caballete y cumbrera se aplican con una
exposición de 8".
Nota: Si se va a colocar un techo nuevo sobre uno
ya existente, quite primero las tejas de caballete
y cumbrera antiguas para lograr una instalación
nivelada.
Utilice únicamente clavos al instalar este producto.
Los clavos deben ser resistentes a la corrosión, de
calibre 11 ó 12, con cabezas de por lo menos
3
⁄8" de
diámetro.
Esquema de jación estándar: Debe colocarse un
clavo a 8½" del extremo que esta expuesto y a ½"
del interior de ambos bordes. (Figura I)
Aplicación
1. Comience a colocar los caballetes desde el alero
y siga en forma ascendente hasta llegar a la
cumbrera.
la. Comience a colocar las cumbreras en el sentido
opuesto a la dirección del viento preponderante.

2. Corte el primer caballete y cumbrera 8" del
extremo expuesto. Utilice la porción superior
de la teja con sellado como teja de inicio para
caballetes y cumbreras. (Figura 2)
3. Coloque esta teja de inicio sobre el borde
anterior del caballete o cumbrera. Siga el
esquema de sujeción estándar de la gura I.
4. Cubra completamente la teja de inicio con las
8" expuestas de la teja siguiente de caballete y
cumbrera. (Figura 3)
5. Sujete cada teja utilizando el esquema de
sujeción estándar en la gura I. Todos los clavos
deben quedar tapados por las tejas siguientes.
Coloque las tejas de caballete y cumbrera
restantes de la misma manera.
6. Corte la teja de cumbrera nal a partir de las
8" expuestas de la teja de caballete y cumbrera.
Corte una longitud adecuada de la pieza hasta
el nal de la cumbrera. (Figura 4)
7. Esquema de jación estándar: Sujete la pieza
nal con dos clavos, a ½" de cada borde lateral y
a I" del extremo de la cumbrera. Cubra el clavo
con cemento para techos. (Figura 4)
