Enhanced Features
The new BAZOOKA* incorporates the latest advances in taper
technology and ergonomic design to improve the speed, quality and
efficiency of the professional drywall finisher.
EASY GRIP CONTROL TUBE. The new BAZOOKA control tube has
been lengthened 2 ½” making tall tape cuts easier than ever. The
control tube is more comfortable to hold and handle because the glide
wheels are now recessed into flanges at each end of the tube. The
flanges act as stops for your hands, requiring much less grip-force to
operate the cutter, which means less fatigue for you. The control tube
also has a lanyard attachment point making it easy to cut the tape on
even the highest joints.
QUICK-CHANGE TAPE BAIL. The new BAZOOKA has a quick-
change tape bail that locks into place, making it easy to change tape
rolls without having to put the taper down. Best of all, there are no loose
parts to misplace or re-install. To change tape rolls, grasp the tape
retainer wire near the end of the spool post and depress it down and out
through the retainer slot. Swing the retainer wire up and out of the way,
change tape rolls, sliding the new roll fully onto the spool post. Swing
the retainer wire back down, and guide it into the retainer slot. It’s that
simple!
NO HASSLE CABLE CHANGES. The new BAZOOKA has an
improved plunger stop to simplify cable changes. The metal and
exposed screw heads have been replaced with a smooth, rounded,
plastic plunger stop that is easy to remove and re-install. To remove the
plunger stop, lift the locking tab and twist the stop ¼ turn counter-
clockwise. After twisting, pull the stop off the taper and complete the
cable change following the normal procedure (see Cable Replacement).
To re-install, align the guide tabs to the slots and slide the stop into the
taper end, twisting ¼ turn clockwise. Continue twisting until the tab
snaps into place, locking the assembly together. If oriented correctly,
very little force should be required to install the stop. Changing a cable
has never been easier!

Blade Replacement
1. Hold the key ring, pull down and turn key ring 90 degrees. Let the key
ring slide into the cutter spring tube.
2. Pull the cutter chain until cutter block and blade are clearly in view.
3. Loosen the cutter block screw and remove the used blade. For
safety purposes, always use a pair of pliers to handle the blade.
4. Insert a new blade. Tighten the screw, making sure the blade does
not protrude through the bottom of the cutter block.
5. Pull the cutter block back into the taper head channel.
6. Pull the key ring down to the end of the spring tube. Turn it 90
degrees and lock it into the original position.
7. Pull down on the control tube to make sure the blade travels freely
through the taper head channel.
Cable Replacement
1. Remove all the mud from the BAZOOKA.
2. To remove the plunger stop, lift the locking tab and twist the stop ¼
turn counter-clockwise. After twisting, pull the stop off the taper.
3. Remove the cover plate by taking out the top screws and loosening
the side and bottom screws. Gently pull the cover plate up and out to
remove it. Close the gate valve and force the piston down with a thin
piece of wood or a flattened piece of corner bead.
4. Loosen the screw on the cable drum and remove the end of the cable
from the drum.
5. Remove the cable from the piston by removing the nut from the
slotted stud.
6. Clean the slotted stud of any mud, then thread the cable through the
nut while holding it, and place the end of the cable into the slot.
Screw the nut onto the slotted stud and tighten to secure the cable to
the piston.
7. Drop the loose end of the cable into the tube followed by the piston.
Re-install the plunger stop by aligning the guide tabs to the slots, and
sliding the stop into the taper end, twisting ¼ turn clockwise.
Continue twisting until the tab snaps into place, locking the assembly
together. If oriented correctly, very little force should be required to
install the stop.
8. Make sure the slot in the cable drum is clean and insert the loose
end of the cable and tighten the screw.
9. Wind the cable onto the cable drum by turning the drum key
clockwise.
10. Replace the cover plate and tighten all screws.
Tape Advancement Assembly
Holding onto the tape advancement assembly, loosen the screw and
remove the tape advancement needle. Slide the entire assembly to the
bottom of the tape guide. Push the new needle through the hole and out the
bottom so that the point of the needle protrudes 1/16 inch through the tape
in the slide. Hold the support assembly and tighten the screw. Insert tape
through the tape guide and check for proper advancement of the tape.
General Maintenance
The new BAZOOKA must be washed with a brush and water (or a water hose) after each use. Pay close attention that all
joint compound is flushed from under the cover plate and the tape advance mechanism. Complete the clean-up by lightly
oiling all wear points. Use Ames

TUBO DE CONTROL DE FÁCIL MANEJO. El tubo de control ha sido extendido
a 2 ½ “ pulgadas, permitiendo que los cortes de cinta de altura sean más fáciles
que nunca. El tubo es más confortable de sostener y maniobrar porque las
ruedas que se deslizan ahora están suspendidas en los bordes a cada lado del
tubo. Los bordes actúan como topes para sus manos, requiriendo menor fuerza
para operar el cortador de cinta, implicando menos fatiga para usted. Además el
tubo de control tiene un cordón de accesorio que hace que el corte de la cinta en
los puntos de mayor altura sea más fácil.
CAMBIO RÁPIDO DE CINTA. El nuevo BAZOOKA tiene una barra que se
asegura en su sitio, esto hace fácil el cambio de los rollos de cinta sin tener que
poner el aplicador de cinta en el suelo. Lo mejor de todo, es que no hay partes
sueltas que se pueden perder o tengan que volver a instalar. Para cambiar los
rollos de cinta, sujete el cable de contención del aplicador cerca del final del
carrete y pulse hacia abajo y afuera a través de la ranura de contención. Mueva
el cable de contención hacia arriba y afuera, cambie los rollos de cinta,
deslizando totalmente el nuevo rollo en el poste del carrete. Mueva el cable de
contención hacia abajo otra vez y guíelo hacia la ranura de retención. ¡Es muy
simple!
CAMBIO DE CABLES SIN PROBLEMAS. El nuevo BAZOOKA tiene una argolla
de plástico (plunger stop) que simplifica el cambio de cables. Las cabezas de
tornillos de metal expuestas han sido reemplazadas con una argolla de plástico
(plunger stop), suave y redondeada, que es fácil de remover y de instalar. Para
remover la argolla de plástico (plunger stop), levante el seguro y enrosque el tope
en ¼ en dirección en contra de las manecillas de reloj. Después de enroscar,
hale la argolla y termine de cambiar el cable siguiendo los procedimientos
normales. (Vea Reemplazo del Cable). Para volver a instalar, alinee los
tabuladores guía en las ranuras y deslice la argolla al final de la encintadora,
enroscando en ¼ en dirección a las manecillas del reloj. Continúe enroscando
hasta que la argolla encaje en su sitio, asegurando todo el ensamblaje. Si ha sido
orientado de la manera correcta, se requerirá muy poca fuerza para instalar la
argolla. ¡Cambiar el cable nunca ha sido más fácil!

Reemplazo de la Cuchilla
1. Sujete el anillo de la llave, hale hacia abajo y gire la llave en 90 grados. Deje
que el anillo de la llave se deslice en el tubo para cortar.
2. Hale la cadena del cortador hasta que el tope del cortador y la cuchilla estén a
la vista.
3. Desajuste el tornillo del tope del cortador y remueva la cuchilla usada. Por
motivos de seguridad siempre utilice alicates para agarrar la cuchilla.
4. Inserte la nueva cuchilla. Ajuste el tornillo, asegurándose que la cuchilla no
sobresalga de la parte inferior del cortador.
5. Hale el tope del cortador hacia atrás dentro del canal de la cabeza del
aplicador de cinta.
6. Hale el anillo de la llave hacia abajo hasta el final del tubo del resorte. Gírelo
90 grados y asegúrelo en la posición original.
7. Hale hacia abajo en el tubo de control para asegurarse que la cuchilla se
mueve fácilmente a través del canal de la cabeza del aplicador de cinta.
Reemplazo del Cable
1. Remueva todo la mezcla de la BAZOOKA.
2. Para remover la argolla de plástico (plunger stop), levante el seguro y
enrosque la argolla ¼ en dirección en contra de las manecillas del reloj.
Después de enroscar, hale la argolla de la encintadora.
3. Remueva la tapa de la cubierta sacando los tornillos y desajustando los
tornillos del lado y de abajo. Suavemente hale la tapa de la cubierta hacia
arriba y retírela. Cierre la válvula y fuerce el pistón hacia abajo con un pedazo
delgado de madera.
4. Desajuste el tornillo en el tambor del cable y retire el final del cable del tambor.
5. Retire el cable del pistón al remover la tuerca del tornillo encajado.
6. Limpie el tornillo de cualquier mezcla remanente, luego pase el cable por la
tuerca mientras la sostiene y coloque el final del cable en la ranura. Atornille la
tuerca con el tornillo encajado y ajuste para asegurar el cable al pistón.
7. Deje caer la parte suelta del final del cable dentro del tubo seguido del pistón.
Instale de la nuevo argolla de plástico (plunger stop) al alinear los tabuladores
de guía con las ranuras y mueva la argolla hacia el final de la encintadora,
enroscando ¼ en dirección de las manecillas del reloj. Continúe enroscando
hasta que el tabulador encaje en su sitio, asegurando todo el ensamblaje. Si
ha sido orientado de la manera correcta, se requerirá muy poca fuerza para
instalar la argolla.
8. Asegúrese de que la ranura en el cable del tambor esté limpia e inserte el final
del cable suelto y asegure el tornillo.
9. Gire el cable en el tambor del cable al girando la llave del tambor en dirección
de las manecillas del reloj.
10. Reemplace la tapa de la cubierta y ajuste todos los tornillos.
Ensamblaje de Avance de la Cinta
Sosteniendo el ensamblaje de avance de la cinta, desajuste el tornillo y remueva la
cinta de la aguja de avance. Mueva todo el ensamblaje hacia la parte inferior de la
guía de la cinta. Inserte la nueva aguja a través del orificio (hueco) y hacia fuera de la
parte inferior para que la punta de la aguja sobresalga 1/16 pulgada a través de la
cinta en el deslizador. Sostenga el ensamblaje de soporte y asegure el tornillo.
Inserte la cinta en la guía de la cinta y verifique el avance apropiado de la cinta.
Mantenimiento General
El nuevo BAZOOKA debe ser lavado con un cepillo y agua (o una manguera de agua) después de cada uso. Preste
atención y verifique que toda la mezcla salga del mecanismo avanzado de la cinta y la placa que cubre. Complete la
limpieza aplicando ligeramente aceite en todos los puntos de uso. Utilice aceite Ames® BAZOOKA Oil o cualquier aceite
ligero para máquinas.
