Getting Started
Channel Scan™
Three types of channel scan are offered:
• Auto Scan (AS)
• Preprogrammed Scan (PS)
• Operator Selectable Scan (OSS)
To turn scan on,
turn the radio on and:
• AS- rotate the channel selector to the preprogrammed scan channel.
• PS- and OSS- place the ABC switch in the C position.
In AS and PS radios, the priority channel is preprogrammed and is not user programma-
ble. In OSS radios, the priority channel is user programmable and is the channel that the
channel selector knob is on.
To temporarily delete a nuisance channel
from the scan list, press SB1 when locked on
to that channel. The channel is put back into the scan list upon turning scan off and re-
entering into scan.

refer to your operating instructions manual.

Install the antenna, battery, and belt clip.

urn the radio on (or off), by using the On/Off Volume con-
trol.
T
o monitor and adjust volume, press side button 3 (SB3,
monitor button) and adjust the On/Off Volume control for a
comfortable listening level.
T
o receive:
turn the radio on, select the desired channel, and monitor for
activity. Selecting a blank channel causes an error tone.
T
o transmit:
turn the radio on, select the desired channel, and monitor for
activity. When clear, press the PTT (LED lights red) and speak
into microphone area. Release PTT to receive.

PTT-ID is a per-channel feature. An ID code is sent each time the PTT is pressed.

mergency Alarm is a per-radio feature. An emergency code is
t
ransmitted when the emergency button is pressed. The emer-
g
ency alarm cancels when:
• the PTT is pressed,
• the emergency button is long pressed, or
• when the radio is turned off.

Call Alert™
is a per-radio feature. Your radio acts like a pager. When a call alert (page) is
received, four beeps sound and the LED flashes green until the PTT is pressed or SB3 is
pressed and released.
Voice Selective Call
radios receive a voice message.... a one-time two-beep tone sounds
and the green LED lights. At the end of the voice message the radio returns to normal
operation.
Repeater Access
equipped radios transmit a code one of two ways; automatically prior to
data and voice transmission, or manually by pressing SB2. A sidetone is generated and an
acknowledge alert tone is received.
Quik-Call ll™ Decode Signalling
Quik-Call ll is a per-radio feature enabled on a per-channel basis and offered as individual
call, group call, and dual call.
To activate Quik-Call, turn the radio on and place the ABC switch in the A position (if so
programmed) or rotate the channel selector to the channel programmed for Quik-Call ll.
When a page is received, the green LED flashes and an alert tone is emitted.The radio
resets to the signalling muting state automatically (if programmed for auto reset) or when
the monitor button is pressed.
Touch-Code™ DTMF
A DTMF programmed radio can transmit and receive phone calls through the public tele-
phone system.
• Calling with Auto Access: Press the phone key, listen for the dial tone, and dial using
the keypad. Press the phone key to hang up.
• Calling with Manual Dial: Press the phone key to enter the phone mode. Enter any
required access code using the keypad. Enter the deaccess code to hang up.
Repeater Talkaround
Transmit DIRECT (portable-to-portable), bypassing the repeater, or transmit in the
REPEAT mode, through a repeater for increased range. This feature can be programmed to
the ABC switch (DIRECT on one position and REPEAT on another position), or to selected
channels.
Smart PTT
With this feature enabled, your radio:
• will not transmit on a busy channel, or
• will not transmit on a busy channel with PL/DPL squelch code other than your own.
Pressing the PTT on a busy channel causes a continuous alert tone until the PTT is
released, (no transmission occurs).
PAC•RT
Radios with PAC•RT communicate through a vehicular repeater to a mobile base station.
To activate PAC•RT,
turn the radio on and place the ABC switch in the A position (if so
programmed) or rotate the channel selector to the channel programmed for PAC•RT.
With PAC•RT selected, all messages are communicated portable-to-base. In other posi-
tions of the ABC switch, or on other selected channels, the radio transmits and receives
portable-to-portable.

• Rastreo preprogramado (PS)

Para activar el rastreo,
encender el radio y:
• AS: hace girar el selector de canal hasta el canal preprogramado
• PS y OSS: ubicar el interruptor ABC en la posición C.
En los radios AS y PS, el canal prioritario está programado
y no lo puede programar el
usuario.
En los radios CSS, el canal prioritario es programado por el usuario
y es el
canal donde se instala la perilla del selector de canal.
Para borrar momentáneamente un canal con interferencia
de la lista de rastreo, pulsar
SB1 cuando se fija automáticamente en ese canal. El canal vuelve a la lista de rastreo apa-
gando y reingresando a rastreo.

Funciones de señalización
Stat-Alert
MR
ID-PTT
es una función por canal. Se envía un código ID cada vez que se pulsa el PTT.
Call Alert
MR
es una función en la que el radio actúa como un voceador. Cuando se
recibe
una alerta de llamada (voceo), se escuchan cuatro tonos cortos y el LED emite una luz
verde hasta que se pulsa el PTT o se pulsa y se suelta el SB3.

Instalar la antena, batería y presilla de la correa
Encender (o apagar) el radio usando el control de volu-
men encendido/ apagado.
Para monitorear y regular el volumen, pulsar el botón
lateral 3 (SB3, botón monitor) y regular el control de vol-
umen encendido/ apagado para el nivel de audición
deseado.
Para recibir, encender la radio, seleccionar el canal
deseado y monitorear la actividad. La selec- ción de un
canal en blanco provoca un tono de error.
Para transmitir, encender la radio, seleccionar el canal
deseado y monitorear la actividad. Una vez despejada,
pulsar el PTT (el LED enciende una luz roja) y hablar en
dirección al micrófono. Soltar el PTT para recibir.

Botón de
emergencia
La alarma de emergencia es una función por radio. Se trans-
mite un código de emergencia cuando se pulsa el botón de
emergencia. La alarma de emergencia se anula cuando:
• se pulsa el PTT,
• se pulsa prolongadamente el botón de emergencia o
• cuando se apaga el radio.
Los radios con llamada selectiva
de voz reciben un mensaje de voz. Se escuchan dos
tonos cortos de una sola duración y el LED emite una luz verde. Al final del mensaje de
voz, el radio vuelve a la operación normal.
Los radios equipados con acceso al repetidor
transmiten un código en una de dos for-
mas: automáticamente antes de la transmisión de información y de la voz o manual-
mente al pulsar SB2. Se genera un tono local y se recibe un tono de alerta de acuse de
recibo.
Señalización de descodificación
Quik-Call ll
MR
La llamada rápida II es una función por radio habilitada para cada canal por separado y
está disponible como llamada individual, llamada de grupo o llamada doble.
Para activar la llamada rápida II,
encender el radio y ubicar el conmutador ABC en la
posición A (si está programado así) o hacer girar el selector de canal hasta el canal progra-
mado para llamada rápida II. Al recibir un voceo, el LED enciende una luz verde inter-
mitente y se emite un tono de alerta. El radio se reconfigura automá-ticamente en el
estado de señalización enmudecida
(si está programado para autoconfiguración) o al
pulsar el botón monitor.
DTMF de Touch-Code
MR
Un radio programado en DTMF puede transmitir y recibir llamadas telefónicas a través del
sistema de telefonía pública.
• Llamada con acceso automático: pulsar la tecla del teléfono, escuchar el tono de mar-
car y marcar el número en el teclado. Pulsar la tecla del teléfono y colgar.
• Llamada con marcación manual: pulsar la tecla del teléfono para ingresar al modo de
teléfono. Ingresar el código de acceso requerido utilizando el teclado. Ingresar el
código de desacceso para colgar
Repeater Talkaround
Transmitir en modo DIRECT (de un radio portátil a otro), omitiendo el repetidor, o en
modo REPEAT, a través de un repetidor, para aumentar el radio de acción. Esta función se
puede programar en el interruptor ABC (DIRECT en una posición y REPEAT en la otra), o
para seleccionar canales.
PTT inteligente
Con esta función habilitada, el radio:
• no transmitirá en un canal que está ocupado o
• no transmitirá en un canal que está ocupado con el código silenciador PL/DPL que
no sea el suyo.
Al pulsar el PTT en un canal ocupado aparece un tono de alerta continuo hasta que se
suelta el PTT (no se produce transmisión alguna).
PAC•RT
MR
Los radios con PAC•RT se comunican a través de un repetidor vehicular a una estación de
base móvil.
Para activar el PAC•RT,
encender el radio y ubicar el conmutador ABC en la posición A
(si está programado así) o hacer girar el selector de canal al canal programado para
PAC•RT. Con el PAC•RT seleccionado, todos los mensajes se comunican de un radio
portátil a uno de base. En otras posiciones del conmutador ABC o en otros canales selec-
cionados, el radio transmite y recibe mensajes de un radio portátil a otro.
