It instructs you how to safely and easily set up, operate and

maintain your machine. Please be sure that you, and any other

persons who will operate the machine, carefully follow the

DANGER: This machine was built to be operated according to the safe operation practices in

this manual. As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the

operator can result in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating fingers, hands,

toes and feet and throwing debris. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could

result in serious injury or death.

Training 8.

1. Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the

machine and in the manual(s) before attempting to

assemble and operate. Keep this manual in a safe place for

future and regular reference and for ordering replacement

parts.

2. Be familiar with all controls and their proper operation.

Know how to stop the machine and disengage them

quickly.

3. Never allow children under 16 years of age to operate this

machine. Children 16 and over should read and understand

the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual

and on the machine and be trained and supervised by an

adult.

4. Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper

instruction.

Keep bystanders, helpers, pets, and children at least 75 feet

from the machine while it is in operation. Stop machine if

anyone enters the area.

Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area.

Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless

and deadly gas.

Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts or in the

feeding chambers and discharge opening. Contact with

the rotating impeller can amputate fingers, hands, and

feet.

Never attempt to unclog either the feed intake or

discharge opening, remove or empty bag, or inspect and

repair the machine while the engine is running. Shut the

engine off and wait until all moving parts have come to a

complete stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground

it against the engine.

Preparation

1. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to

be used. Remove all rocks, bottles, cans, or other foreign

objects which could be picked up or thrown and cause

personal injury or damage to the machine.

2. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles during

operation and while performing an adjustment or repair,

to protect your eyes. Thrown objects which ricochet can

cause serious injury to the eyes.

3. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and close-fitting

slacks and shirts. Loose fitting clothes or jewelry can be

caught in movable parts. Never operate this machine

in bare feet or sandals. Wear leather work gloves when

feeding material in the chipper chute.

4. Before starting, check all bolts and screws for proper

tightness to be sure the machine is in safe working

condition. Also, visually inspect machine for any damage at

frequent intervals.

5. Maintain or replace safety and instructions labels, as

necessary.

SafeHandling0f Gas01ine

To avoid personal injury or property damage use extreme care

in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can occur when

gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite.

Wash your skin and change clothes immediately.

a. Use only an approved gasoline container.

b. Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck

or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place

containers on the ground away from your vehicle

before filling.

c. When practical, remove gas-powered equipment

from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground.

if this is not possible, then refuel such equipment on

a trailer with a portable container, rather than from a

gasoline dispenser nozzle.

d. Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel

tank or container opening at all times until fueling is

complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open device.

Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other

sources of ignition.

Never fuel machine indoors.

Never remove gas cap or add fuel while the engine

is hot or running. Allow engine to cool at least two

minutes before refueling.

h. Never over fill fuel tank. Fill tank to no more than 1/2

inch below bottom of filler neck to allow space for

fuel expansion.

i. Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely.

j. If gasoline is spilled, wipe it off the engine and

equipment. Move unit to another area. Wait 5

minutes before starting the engine.

k. To reduce fire hazards, keep machine free of grass,

leaves, or other debris build-up. Clean up oil or fuel

spillage and remove any fuel soaked debris.

I. Never store the machine or fuel container inside

where there is an open flame, spark or pilot light

as on a water heater, space heater, furnace, clothes

dryer or other gas appliances.

Operation

Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts or in the

feeding chambers and discharge opening. Contact with

the rotating impeller can amputate fingers, hands, and

feet.

Before starting the machine, make sure the chipper chute,

feed intake, and cutting chamber are empty and free of all

debris.

Thoroughly inspect all material to be shredded and

remove any metal, rocks, bottles, cans, or other foreign

objects which could cause personal injury or damage to

the machine.

4. If it becomes necessary to push material through the

shredder hopper, use a small diameter stick. Do not use

your hands or feet.

5. If the impeller strikes a foreign object or if your machine

should start making an unusual noise or vibration,

immediately shut the engine off. Allow the impeller to

come to a complete stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire,

ground it against the engine and perform the following

steps:

a. Inspect for damage.

b. Repair or replace any damaged parts.

c. Check for any loose parts and tighten to assure

continued safe operation.

6. Do not allow an accumulation of processed material to

build up in the discharge area. This can prevent proper

discharge and result in kickback of material through the

feed opening.

7. Do not attempt to shred or chip material larger than

specified on the machine or in this manual. Personal injury

or machine damage could result.

8. Never attempt to unclog either the feed intake or

discharge opening while the engine is running. Shut

the engine off, wait until all moving parts have stopped,

disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the

engine before clearing debris.

9. Never operate without the shredder hopper, chipper chute,

or chute deflector properly attached to the machine.

Never empty or change discharge bag while the engine is

running.

10. Keep all guards, deflectors and safety devices in place and

operating properly.

11. Keep your face and body back and to the side of the

chipper chute while feeding material into the machine to

avoid accidental kickback injuries.

12. Never operate this machine without good visibility or light.

13. Do not operate this machine on a paved, gravel or non-

level surface.

14. Do not operate this machine while under the influence of

alcohol or drugs.

15. Muffler and engine become hot and can cause a burn. Do

not touch.

If situations occur which are not covered in this manual, use

Maintenance&Storage

Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper

operation regularly.

Check bolts and screws for proper tightness at frequent

intervals to keep the machine in safe working condition.

Also, visually inspect machine for any damage and repair,

if needed.

and make certain the impeller and all moving parts have

stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it

against the engine to prevent unintended starting.

Do not change the engine governor settings or overspeed

the engine. The governor controls the maximum safe

operating speed of the engine.

Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as

necessary.

Follow this manual for safe loading, unloading,

transporting, and storage of this machine.

Never store the machine or fuel container inside where

there is an open flame, spark or pilot light such as a water

heater, furnace, clothes dryer, etc.

Always refer to the operator's manual for proper

instructions on off-season storage.

If the fuel tank has to be drained, do this outdoors.

Observe proper disposal laws and regulations for gas, oil,

etc. to protect the environment.

Donotmodifyengine

To avoid serious injury or death, do not modify engine in any

way. Tampering with the governor setting can lead to a runaway

engine and cause it to operate at unsafe speeds. Never tamper

with factory setting of engine governor.

NoticeRegardingEmissions

Engines which are certified to comply with California and federal

EPA emission regulations for SORE (Small Off Road Equipment)

are certified to operate on regular unleaded gasoline, and

may include the following emission control systems: Engine

Modification (EM) and Three Way Catalyst (TWC) if so equipped.

SparkArrestor

_ ARNING: This machine is equipped with an

internal combustion engine and should not be used

on or near any unimproved forest-covered,

brushcovered or grass-covered land unless the

engine's exhaust system is equipped with a spark

arrester meeting applicable local or state laws (if

any).

If a spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective

working order by the operator. In the State of California the

above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public

Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws

apply on federal lands.

nearest engine authorized service dealer or contact the service

AverageUsefulLife

According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission

(CPSC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),

this product has an Average Useful Life of seven (7) years, or 60

hours of operation. At the end of the Average Useful Life, buy

a new machine or have the machine inspected annually by an

authorized service dealer to ensure that all mechanical and

safety systems are working properly and not worn excessively.

Failure to do so can result in accidents, injuries or death.

NOTE:This Operator's Manual covers several models. Snow

thrower features may vary by model. Not all features in this

manual are applicable to all snow thrower models.

Assembly

Positioning the UpperHandle

1. Making sure not to pinch the cable in the process, pivot the

upper handle into the operating position as illustrated in

Fig. 3-1 until it clicks into place.

2. Tighten the wing knobs to secure the handle in place.

See Fig. 3-1.

Assemblingthe DischargeChute

For shipping reasons, the snow thrower has been packaged with

the upper chute pivoted all the way down. To pivot it upward,

proceed as follows:

1. Remove the wing knob, flat washer and carriage bolt from

the lower chute. See Fig. 3-2.

Pivot the upper chute upward over the lip on the lower

chute so that there is no gap between the upper chute and

the lower chute.

Secure with the hardware just removed. Refer to Fig. 3-3.

FuelAndOilMixture

Your snow thrower is equipped with a two-cycle engine that

requires a mixture of gasoline and two cycle oil at a ratio of 50:1.

Refer to the engine operator's manual for detailed instructions

regarding the mixture of oil and gasoline for your snow thrower's

engine.

FuelFill-Up

WARNING! Use extreme care when handling

gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Never fuel the machine

indoors or while the engine is hot or running.

Extinguish cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other

sources of ignition.

1. Check fuel level and add if necessary. Follow related

instructions in the separate engine manual packed with

your snow thrower.

NOTE:A plastic insert may have been placed into the fuel tank to

prevent dirt and debris from entering the tank during assembly.

Remove this insert before attempting to fill with fuel.

Adjustments

ChuteAssembly

The pitch of the chute assembly controls the angle at which the

snow is thrown.

1. Loosen the wing knob found on the left side of the chute

assembly and pivot the upper chute upward or downward

to the desired pitch. Retighten the wing knob before

operating the snow thrower.

2. Position the chute assembly opening by using the Chute

Handle to throw the snow in the desired direction. See Fig.

3-4.

ElectricStarterButton

Activating choke control closes the choke plate on carburetor

and aids in starting engine. Refer to the engine manual packed

with unit for more detailed instructions.

Pressing the electric starter button engages the engine's electric

starter when plugged into a 120V power source

ElectricStarterOutlet

Requires use of a two-prong outdoor extension cord and a 120V

power source/wall outlet.

Primer

Pressing primer forces fuel directly into engine's

carburetor to aid in cold-weather starting. Refer to

engine manual packed with unit for more detailed

instructions.

Ignition Key

Ignition key must be present, inserted in key

switch, and in the "ON/RUN" position for engine

to start.

RecoilStarter

The starter handle is used to manually start the engine.

SparkPlugAccess

Remove spark plug cover to access spark plug.

Auger

When engaged, the augers rotation draws snow into the auger

housing and throws it out the discharge chute. Rubber paddles

on the augers also aid in propelling the unit as they come in

contact with the pavement.

AugerControl

Located on the upper handle, the auger control handle is used

to engage and disengage drive to the auger. Squeeze the control

handle against the upper handle to engage auger; release it to

disengage.

ChuteAssembly

Rotate the discharge chute to the left or right using the chute

handle.The pitch of the discharge chute controls angle at which

the snow is thrown. Loosen the wing knob on the side of the

discharge chute before pivoting the discharge chute upward or

downward. Retighten the knob once the desired position has

been achieved.

ShavePlate

The shave plate maintains contact with the pavement as

the snow thrower is propelled, allowing snow close to the

pavement's surface to be discharged.

GasolineCap

Remove the gas cap to add fuel. This machine runs on a mixture

of fuel and oil. Do NOT operate the snow thrower without first

reading the engine operator's manual for instructions regarding

proper fuel and engine oil.

SECTION4 -- CONTROLS AND FEATURES 9

Operation

BeforeStarting

i_ll WARNING! Read, understand and follow all

instructions and warnings on the machine and in

this manual before operating.

NOTE: For complete and detailed engine starting, stopping and

storing instructions, it is recommended that you read the engine

manual also included with this unit.

1. The spark plug wire was disconnected for safety. Attach

the spark plug wire to the spark plug before starting.

Starting the Engine

1. To avoid carbon monoxide poisoning, make sure the

engine is outdoors in a well-ventilated area.

2. Insert the ignition key into the slot. Turn key to ON position.

3. Now follow the instructions below as it pertains to your

machine.

ElectricStarter

WARNING! The electric starter must be used with

a properly grounded two-prong receptacle at all

times to avoid the possibility of electric shock.

Follow all instructions carefully prior to operating

the electric starter.

The electric starter is equipped with a grounded two-wire

power cord and a plug. It is designed to operate on a 110

volt AC household current.

2. Move the Choke Control to the "Full" position.

3. Push the Primer three (3) times, making sure to cover the

vent hole when pushing.

4. Connect the power cord to the switch box on the dash

panel. Plug the other end of the power cord into a three-

prong 110-volt, grounded, AC receptacle.

5. Push the starter button to crank the engine.

6. When engine starts, release starter button, and move

choke gradually to 1/2Choke until engine runs smoothly.

Next move the Choke to OFF. If engine falters, move choke

immediately to FULL and then gradually to 1/2then to OFF.

7. Disconnect the power cord. Always unplug from the outlet

first, and then from the snow thrower.

Re(oilStarter

Move the choke lever to FULL choke position (cold engine

start).

If the engine is warm, place the choke in OFF position

instead of FULL.

Push the Primer three (3) times, making sure to cover the

vent hole when pushing.

If the engine is warm, push the primer button only once.

NOTE: Always cover the vent hole in the primer button

when pushing. Additional priming may be necessary for

first start if temperature is below 15 degrees Fahrenheit.

Grasp the starter handle and pull the rope out slowly, until

it pulls slightly harder. Let the rope rewind slowly.

Pull the starter handle rapidly. Do not allow the handle to

snap back. Allow it to rewind slowly while keeping a firm

hold on the starter handle.

As the engine warms up and begins to operate evenly,

rotate the choke lever slowly to the 1/2Choke position.

When the engine begins to run smoothly, move the choke

to the OFF position. If the engine falters, return to FULL

choke, then slowly move to 1/2then OFF position.

Stopping the Engine

1. Run the engine for a few minutes before stopping to help

dry offany moisture on the engine.

2. To stop the engine, turn the ignition key to the OFF/STOP

position

3. Remove the ignition key and store it in a safe place.

4. Wipe all the snow and moisture from the area around the

engine.

NOTE: Excessive upward pressure on the handle will result

in premature wear on the rubber auger blades which

would not be covered by warranty.

_ WARNING! Muffler, engine and surrounding areas

become hot and can cause a burn. Be careful and do

not touch when hot.

Engagingthe Augers

1. Engage the auger by squeezing the auger control against

the upper handle. Release to stop the augers.

Engagingthe Drive

Lift up slightly on the handle to allow the rubber paddles

on the auger to contact the pavement and propel the snow

thrower forward. Pushing downward on the handle will

raise the augers offthe ground and stop forward motion.

Maintenance&Adjustments

Engine

Refer to the Tecumseh Engine Manual packed with your machine

for all engine maintenance.

ShavePlate

WARNING! Before Servicing, repairing or

inspecting the snow thrower, disengage the auger

control. Stop the engine and remove the key to

prevent unintended starting.

To check the adjustment of the shave plate, place the

machine on a level surface. The wheels, shave plate and

augers should all contact level surface. Note that if the

shave plate is adjusted too high, snow may blow under the

housing. If the shave plate wears out excessively, or the

unit does not self-propel, the shave plate may be too low

and needs to be adjusted.

NOTE: On new machines or machines with a new shave

plate installed, the augers may be slightly off the ground.

To adjust, tip the snow thrower back so that it rests on the

handle. Loosen the four lock nuts and bolts which secure

the shave plate to the housing. See Fig. 6-1. Move the shave

plate to desired position and retighten the nuts and bolts

securely.

Control Cable

As a result of both the control cable and the auger drive belt

stretching due to wear, periodic adjustments may be necessary.

If the auger seems to hesitate when rotating, proceed as follows:

The upper hole in the control handle provides for an adjustment

in cable tension. To adjust, disconnect the end of control cable

from the bottom hole in the control handle and reinsert it in the

upper hole. Insert the cable from the outside as shown in Fig. 6-2.

Test the snow thrower to see if there is a noticeable difference.

ChuteAssembly

Refer to the Assembly and Set-up section for instructions on

adjusting the chute assembly.

Maintenance

Lubrication

Lubricate the pivot points on the control handle and the

extension spring at the end of the control cable with a light oil

once every season and before storage of the snow thrower at the

end of the season.

Off-SeasonStorage

If the snow thrower will not be used for 30 days or longer, follow

the instructions below.

Store the equipment in a clean, dry area.

If storing the snow thrower in an unventilated area,

rustproof the machine using a light oil or silicone to coat

the snow thrower.

3. Clean the exterior of the engine and the snow thrower.

Service

ReplacingBelt

Remove the belt cover by removing five hex screws. See

Fig. 7-1.

Remove the belt by grasping it from the bottom of the

auger pulley and pulling outward.

NOTE: Push down on the idler puller to release the belt

from under the belt keeper. See Fig. 7-1.

To replace the belt follow these instructions and refer to Fig. 7-2:

1. Push down on the Idler pulley.

2. Position the belt on top of the auger pulley, under the belt

keeper.

3. Route the belt around the engine pulley.

4. Push the belt over the bottom of the auger pulley.

5. Reinstall the belt cover removed earlier.

ReplacingAugerPaddles

The snow thrower auger's rubber paddles are subject to wear

and should be replaced if any signs of excessive wear are present.

i_ (:::AUTON: Do NOTallow the auger's rubber

paddles to wear to the point where portions of the

metal auger itself can come in contact with the

pavement. Doing so can result in serious damage to

your snow thrower.

To change the rubber paddles, proceed as follows:

1. Remove the existing rubber paddles by unthreading the

self-tapping screws which secure them to the auger. See

Fig. 7-3.

2. Secure the replacement rubber paddles to the auger using

the hardware removed earlier.

ReplacingShavePlate

The shave plate is attached to the bottom of the auger housing

and is subject to wear. It should be checked periodically. There

are two wearing edges and the shave plate can be reversed.

1. Remove the four carriage bolts and hex lock nuts which

attach it to the snow thrower housing.

2. Install new shave plate, making sure the heads of the

carriage bolts are on the inside of the housing.

3. Adjust the shave plate as instructed on page 11.Refer to

Fig. 6-1.

4. Tighten securely once adjusted.

_ ELIGRO: Esta mSquina est5 diser_ada para ser utilizada respetando las normas de seguridad

contenidas en este manual. AI igual que con cualquier tipo de equipo motorizado, un

descuido o error por parte del operador puede producir lesiones graves. Esta mSquina es

capaz de amputar dedos, manos y pies y de arrojar objetos extraflos con gran fuerza. De no

Capadtad6n

1. Lea, entienda y cumpla todas las instrucciones incluidas en

la m_quina y en los manuales antes de montarla y utilizarla.

Guarde este manual en un lugar seguro para consultas

futuras y peri6dicas, asi como para solicitar repuestos.

2. Familiaricese con todos los controles y con el uso adecuado

de los mismos. Sepa c6mo detener la m_quina y desactivar

los controles r_pidamente.

3. No permita nunca que los niflos menores de 14aflos

utilicen esta m_quina. Los niflos de 14 aflos en adelante

deben leer y entender las instrucciones de operaci6n y

normas de seguridad contenidas en este manual, yen la

m_quina ydeben set entrenados y supervisados pot un

adulto.

4. Nunca permita que los adultos operen esta m_quina sin

recibir antes la instrucci6n apropiada.

5. Los objetos arrojados por la m_quina pueden producir

lesiones graves. Planifique el patr6n en el que va air

arrojando nieve para evitar que la descarga de material se

realice hacia los caminos, los observadores, etc.

6. Mantenga a los observadores, ayudantes, mascotas y niflos

por Io menos a 75 pies de la m_quina mientras la misma

est_ en funcionamiento. Detenga la m_quina si alguien se

acerca.

7. Sea precavido para evitar patinarse o caerse especialmente

cuando opera la m_quina en reversa.

8. Preparativos

Inspeccione minuciosamente el _rea donde utilizar_ el equipo.

Saque todos los felpudos, peri6dicos, trineos, tablas, cables y

otros objetos extraflos con los que podria tropezar o que podrian

set arrojados pot la barrena / impulsor.

1. Para protegerse los ojos utilice siempre anteojos o

antiparras de seguridad mientras opera la m_quina o

mientras la ajusta o repara. Los objetos arrojados que

rebotan pueden producir lesiones oculares graves.

2. No opere la m_quina sin la vestimenta adecuada para

estar al aire libre en invierno. No utilice alhajas, bufandas

largas u otras prendas sueltas que podrian enredarse en las

partes m6viles. Utilice un calzado especial para superficies

resbaladizas.

Use un prolongador y un tomacorriente de tres cables con

conexidn a tierra para todas las m_quinas con motores de

encendido el_ctrico.

4. Ajuste la altura de la caja del tomacorriente para limpiar la

grava o las superficies con piedras trituradas.

5. Desengrane todas las palancas de control antes de arrancar

el motor.

6. Nunca intente realizar ajustes mientras el motor est.1

en marcha excepto en los casos especificamente

recomendados en el manual del operador.

7. Deje que el motor y la m_iquina se adapten a la

temperatura exterior antes de comenzar a sacar la nieve.

Manejosegurode [agasoHna

Para evitar lesiones personales o daffos materiales tenga mucho

cuidado cuando trabaje con gasolina. La gasolina es sumamente

inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar explosiones. Si se

derrama gasolina encima o sobre la ropa se puede lesionar

gravemente ya que se puede incendiar. L_ivese la piel y c_imbiese

de ropa de inmediato.

a. Utilice s61o los recipientes para gasolina autorizados.

b. Apague todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y otras

fuentes de combusti6n.

c. Nunca cargue combustible en la m_iquina en un

espacio cerrado.

d. Nunca saque la tapa del combustible ni agregue

combustible mientras el motor est,1 caliente o en

ma rcha.

e. Deje que el motor se enfr[e pot Io menos dos

minutos antes de volver a cargar combustible.

f. Nunca Ilene en exceso el dep6sito de combustible.

Llene el tanque a no m_is de 1/2pulgada pot debajo

de la base del cuello de Ilenado dejando espacio

para la dilataci6n del combustible.

g. Vuelva a colocar la tapa de la gasolina y ajustela

bien.

h. Limpie el combustible que se haya derramado sobre

el motor y el equipo. Traslade la m_iquina a otra

zona. Espere 5 minutos antes de encender el motor.

i. Nunca almacene la m_iquina o el recipiente de

combustible en un espacio cerrado donde haya

fuego, chispas o luz piloto (pot ejemplo, hornos,

calentadores de agua, calefactores, secadores de

ropa, etc.).

j. Deje que la m_iquina se enfrie pot Io menos 5

minutos antes de guardarla.

k. Nunca Ilene los recipientes en el interior de

un vehiculo o cami6n o caja de remolque con

recubrimientos pi_isticos. Coloque siempre los

recipientes en el piso y lejos del vehiculo antes de

Ilenarlos.

I. Si es posible, retire el equipo a gasolina del cami6n o

remolque y II&nelo en el suelo. Si esto no es posible,

Ilene el equipo en un remolque con contenedor

port_itil, en vez de desde una boquilla dispensadora

de gasolina.

m. Mantenga la boquilla dispensadora en contacto

con el borde del dep6sito de combustible o con la

abertura del recipiente en todo momento, hasta

terminar la carga. No utilice un dispositivo de

apertura/cierre de boquilla.

Funcionamiento

1. No ponga las manos o los pies cerca de las piezas

rotatorias, en la caja de la barrena /impulsor o en el

montaje del canal de descarga. Hacer contacto con piezas

giratorias puede resultar en la amputaci6n de manos o

pies.

2. La palanca de control de la barrena /impulsor es un

dispositivo de seguridad. Nunca evite su funcionamiento.

De hacerlo la operaci6n de la m_iquina es riesgosa y puede

ocasionar lesiones.

3. Las palancas de control deben funcionar bien en ambas

direcciones y regresar autom_iticamente a la posici6n de

desengrane cuando se las suelta.

SECTION 2 -- J_EDIDAS IMPORTANTES DE SEGURIDAD

4. Nunca opere la m_iquina si falta un montaje del canal o si

el mismo est,1 daffado. Mantenga todos los dispositivos de

seguridad en su lugary en funcionamiento.

5. Nunca encienda el motor en espacios cerrados o en una

zona con poca ventilaci6n. Elescape del motor contiene

mon6xido de carbono, un gas inodoro y letal.

6. No utilice la m_iquina bajo la influencia del alcohol o las

drogas.

7. El silenciador y el motor se calientan y pueden causar

quemaduras. No los toque. Mantenga a los niffos alejados.

8. Sea sumamente precavido cuando opere la m_iquina sobre

una superficie con grava o cuando la cruce. Mant_ngase

alerta por si se presentan peligros ocultos o tr_insito.

9. Tenga cuidado cuando cambie de direcci6n o cuando

opere la m_iquina en pendientes.

10. Planifique el patr6n en el que va air arrojando nieve para

evitar que la descarga de material se produzca hacia las

ventanas, las paredes, los autom6viles, etc. y evitar asi

posibles daffos materiales o lesiones producidas pot los

rebotes.

11. Nunca dirija la descarga hacia los niffos, los observadores

o las mascotas ni deje que nadie se pare delante de la

m_iquina.

12. No sobrecargue la capacidad de la m_iquina tratando de

sacar la nieve muy r_ipidamente.

13. Nunca opere esta m_iquina sin buena visibilidad o

iluminaci6n. Siempre debe estar seguro de que est,1 bien

afirmado y sujetando firmemente las manijas. Camine,

nunca corra.

14. Corte la corriente a la barrena / impulsor cuando transporte

la m_iquina o cuando la misma no est,1 en uso.

15. Nunca opere la m_iquina a alta velocidad de

desplazamiento sobre superficies resbaladizas. Mire hacia

abajo y hacia atr_is y tenga cuidado cuando vaya marcha

atr_is.

16. Si la m_iquina comenzara a vibrar de manera anormal,

detenga el motor, desconecte el cable de la bujia y p6ngala

de manera que haga masa contra el motor. Inspeccione la

m_iquina minuciosamente para vet si est,1 daffada. Repare

todos los daffos antes de encender y operar la m_iquina.

17. Desengrane todas las palancas de controly detenga el

motor antes de dejar la posici6n de operaci6n (detr_is de

las manijas). Espere a que la barrena / impulsor se detenga

pot completo antes de destapar el montaje del canal o

realizar ajustes e inspecciones.

18. Nunca ponga las manos en las aberturas de descarga o

de recolecci6n. Utilice siempre la herramienta de limpieza

que se adjunta para destapar la abertura de descarga. No

destape el montaje del canal mientras el motor est,1 en

funcionamiento. Antes de destaparlo, apague el motor

y permanezca detr_is de las manijas hasta que todas las

partes m6viles se hayan detenido.

19. Use s61o uniones y accesorios aprobados pot el fabricante

(pot ejemplo, pesas para las ruedas, cadenas para los

neu m_iticos, cabinas, etc.).

20. Para encender el motor, jale de la cuerda lentamente hasta

que sienta resistencia, luegojale r_ipidamente. El repliegue

r_ipido de la cuerda de arranque (tensi6n de retroceso) le

jalar_i la manoy el brazo hacia el motor m_is r_ipido de Io

que usted puede soltar. El resultado pueden ser huesos

rotos, fracturas, hematomas o esguinces.

21. Si se presentan situaciones que no est_in previstas en este

manual, sea cuidadoso y use el sentido comun. P6ngase en

contacto con Asistencia al Cliente para solicitar ayuda y el

nombre del distribuidor de servicio m_is cercano.

MantenimientoyAlmacenamiento

Nunca altere los dispositivos de seguridad. Controle

peri6dicamente que funcionen correctamente. Remitase a

las secciones de mantenimiento y ajuste de este manual.

Antes de realizar la limpieza, reparar o revisar la m_iquina,

desengrane todas las palancas de control y detenga el

motor. Espere a que la barrena /impulsor se detenga

por completo. Desconecte el cable de la bujia y p6ngalo

haciendo masa contra el motor para evitar que se encienda

accidentalmente.

Controle frecuentemente que todos los pernos y tornillos

est_n bien ajustados para comprobar que la m_iquina se

encuentra en condiciones seguras de funcionamiento.

Adem_is, haga una inspecci6n visual de la m_iquina para

verificar si est,1 daflada.

No cambie la configuraci6n del regulador del motor

ni acelere demasiado el mismo. El regulador del motor

controla la velocidad m_ixima segura de funcionamiento

del motor.

5. Las placas de raspado y las zapatas antideslizantes que se

usan con la m_iquina quitanieve se desgastan y se daflan.

Para proteger su seguridad, verifique frecuentemente

todos los componentes y reempLicelos s61o con partes

de los fabricantes de equipos originales (OEM). "iEI uso

de piezas que no cumplen con las especificaciones del

equipo original puede resultar en rendimiento inadecuado

adem_is de poner en riesgo la seguridad!"

6. Revise las palancas de control peri6dicamente para

verificar que engranen y desengranen adecuadamente y

ajustelos si es necesario. Consulte la secci6n de ajustes de

este manual del operador para obtener instrucciones.

7. Mantenga o reemplace las etiquetas de seguridad e

instrucciones segOn sea necesario.

8. Respete las normas referentes a la disposici6n correcta y las

reglamentaciones sobre gasolina, aceite, etc. para proteger

el medio ambiente.

9. Antes de almacenar la m_iquina enci6ndala unos minutos

para sacar la nieve que haya quedado en la misma y para

evitar asi que se congele la barrena / impulsor.

10. Nunca almacene la m_iquina o el recipiente de combustible

en un espacio cerrado donde haya fuego, chispas o luz

piloto como por ejemplo, calentadores de agua, hornos,

secadores de ropa, etc.

11. Consulte siempre el manual del operador para obtener

instrucciones adecuadas para el almacenamiento fuera de

temporada.

12. Verifique frecuentemente la linea de combustible, el

tanque, el tap6n, y los accesorios buscando rajaduras o

p6rdidas. Reemplace de ser necesario.

13. No d6 arranque al motor si no est,1 la bujia de encendido.

Nomodifique el motor

Para evitar lesiones graves o la muerte, no modifique el motor

bajo ninguna circunstancia. Si cambia la configuracidn del

regulador el motor puede descontrolarse y operar a velocidades

inseguras. Nunca cambie la configuracidn de f_ibrica del

regulador del motor.

Avisoreferidoa emisiones

Los motores que est_in certificados y cumplen con las

regulaciones de emisiones federales EPAy de California para

SORE (Equipos pequeflos todo terreno) est_in certificados para

operar con gasolina comOn sin plomo y pueden incluir los

siguientes sistemas de control de emisiones: Modificaci6n de

motor (EM) y catalizador de tres vias (TWC) si est_in equipados de

esa manera.

Guardachispas

ADVERTENCIA:ESTA m_iquina est,1 equipada

con un motor de combusti6n interna y no debe

ser utilizada en o cerca de un terreno agreste

cubierto por bosque, malezas o hierba excepto si el

sistema de escape del motor est,1 equipado con un

amortiguador de chispas que cumpla con las leyes

locales o estatales correspondientes, en caso de

haberlas.

Si se utiliza un amortiguador de chispas el operador Io debe

mantener en condiciones de uso adecuadas. En el Estado

de California las medidas anteriormente mencionadas son

exigidas pot ley (Articulo 4442 del Cddigo de Recursos POblicos

caracterfsticas t6cnicas de la m_quina quitanieve pueden variar

Montaje

Colocad6nde lamanija superior

1. Gire la manUa superior hasta la posici6n de operaci6n,

como se ilustra en la Fig. 3-1 hasta que quede en su lugar,

cuidando de no pellizcar el cable en el proceso.

2. Apriete las perillas a mariposa para ajustar la manija en su

lugar como en la Fig. 3-1.

M0ntaje del canalde descarga

Pot razones de envio, la m_quina quitanieve ha sido embalada

con el canal superior girado completamente hacia abajo. Para

girarlo hacia arriba proceda de la siguiente manera:

1. Saque la perilla a mariposa, la arandela plana y el bul6n del

carro del canal inferior. Vea la Fig. 3-2.

2. Gire el canal superior hacia arriba sobre el borde del canal

inferior de manera que NO quede ningun espacio entre el

canal superior y el inferior.

3. Asegurelo con los herrajes que acaba de quitar.

Mezclade combustible yaceite

La m_quina quitanieve est_ equipada con un motor de dos ciclos

que necesita una mezcla de gasolina y de aceite de dos ciclos

en una proporci6n de 50:1. Consulte el manual de operaci6n del

motor para conocer las instrucciones completas en Io referente

a la mezcla del aceite y la gasolina para el motor de la m_quina

quitanieve.

i_ IADVERTENCIA! Tenga mucho cuidado al trabajar

con gasolina. La gasolina es sumamente inflamable

y sus vapores pueden causar explosiones. Nunca

agregue combustible a la m_quina en interiores ni

mientras el motor est_ caliente o en

funcionamiento. Apague cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y

otras fuentes de combusti6n.

Cargue el motor con gasolina y aceite como se indica en el

manual de operaci6n Tecumseh para motores que viene

embalado pot separado con su m_quina quitanieve. Lea las

instrucciones con atenci6n.

NOTA: Un relleno pl_stico se pudo haber colocado en el dep6sito

de gasolina para evitar que la suciedad y la ruina entren en

el tanque durante la asamblea. Quitar este relleno antes de

procurar Ilenar del combustible.

M0ntaje del canal

La inclinaci6n del montaje del canal controla el _ngulo con el

que se arroja la nieve.

I. Afloje la perilla a mariposa que se encuentra del lado

izquierdo del montaje del canal y gire el canal superior

hacia arriba o hacia abajo hasta alcanzar la inclinaci6n

deseada. Vuelva a ajustar la perilla a mariposa antes de

poner la m_quina quitanieve en funcionamiento.

2. Posicione la abertura del montaje del canal con la manija

del canal para arrojar la nieve en la direcci6n deseada. Vea

la Fig. 3-4.

Cubierta de ia bujia

Saque la cubierta de la bujia para acceder a la bujia.

_arrena

Cuando est_ engranada, la rotaci6n de la barrena dirige la nieve

dentro de la caja de la barrena y la arroja hacia afuera porel canal

de descarga. Las paletas de caucho de las barrenas tambi6n

ayudan a impulsar la unidad al ponerse en contacto con el

pavimento.

Manijadecontrol de ia barrena

La manija de control de la barrena est.1 ubicada en la manija

superior y se usa para engranar y desengranar la transmisi6n de

la barrena. Apriete la manija de control contra la manija superior

para engranar la barrena, afl6jela para desengranarla.

Mentajedei canal

Haga rotar el montaje del canal hacia izquierda o derecha

usado la manija del canal. La inclinaci6n del montaje del

canal controla el _ingulo con el que se arroja la nieve. Afloje

la perilla a mariposa que se encuentra en el costado del

montaje del canal antes de girarlo hacia arriba o hacia

abajo. Vuelva a ajustar la perilla despu_s de alcanzar la

posici6n deseada.

Plataderaspado

La placa de raspado hace contacto con el pavimento a medida

que se impulsa la m_iquina quitanieve, permitiendo que se

descargue la nieve que est,1 cerca de la superficie del pavimento.

Sigatodas las instrucciones cuidadosamente antes

de operar el arrancador el_ctrico.

1. Elarrancador el_ctrico est_ equipado con un cable de

alimentaci6n y un enchufe de tres terminales conectados a

tierra y est_ diseffado para operar con corriente dom_stica

de 110voltios.

2. Ponga el control del cebador en la posici6n "Full".

3. Presione tres (3) veces el bot6n del cebador, asegur_ndose

de cubrirel orificio de ventilaci6n cuando empuja.

4. Conecte el cable de alimentaci6n a la caja del interruptor

en el tablero de instrumentos. Enchufe el otto extremo

del cable de alimentaci6n en un recept_culo de CAy 120

voltios con tres terminales conectados a tierra.

5. Presione el bot6n del arrancador para arrancar el motor

con la manivela.

6. Cuando el motor arranca, suelte el bot6n arrancador y

mueva el cebador gradualmente a la posici6n 1/2hasta que

el motor funcione uniformemente. Ponga la palanca del

cebador en la posici6n OFF(apagado). Siel motor falla,

mueva el cebador inmediatamente a la posici6n FULLy

luego gradualmente a1/2y luego aOFF.

7. Desconecte el cable de alimentaci6n. Siempre desconecte

primero del enchufe, y luego de la m_quina quitanieve.

Arrancadorde retroceso

1. Mueva la palanca del cebador a la posici6n FULL

(encendido con el motor en frio).

2. Siel motor est_ caliente, ubique el cebador en la posici6n

OFFen lugar de FULL.

3. Presione tres (3) veces el bot6n del cebador, asegur_ndose

de cubrir el orificio de ventilaci6n cuando presiona.

4. Siel motor est_ caliente, presione el bot6n del cebador una

sola vez.

NOTA:Siempre cubra el orificio de ventilaci6n en el bot6n

cebador cuando Io presiona. Tal vezdeba cebar la m_quina

m&s para el arranque inicial si la temperatura es menor a 15

grados Fahrenheit.

5. Tome la manija del arrancador y tire de la soga lentamente

hasta que quede un poco m_s tirante. Deje que la soga se

enrolle lentamente.

6. Tire de la manija del arrancador r_pidamente. No permita

que la manija tironee. Permita que se enrolle lentamente

mientras sujeta firmemente la manija del arrancador.

1. Mientras el motor secalienta y comienzaafuncionar

uniformemente, gire la palanca del cebador lentamente

hacia la posici6n 1/2.Cuando el motor comienza a funcionar

regularmente, mueva el cebador a la posici6n OFF.Si

el motor falla, vuelva a la posici6n FULL,luego mueva

lentamente a 1/2luego a la posici6n OFF.

Detenci6ndeimotor

1. Deje el motor encendido durante algunos minutos antes de

detenerlo para ayudar a secar toda la humedad del motor.

2. Para detener el motor, gire la Ilave de encendido en sentido

contrario alas agujas del reloj hasta la posici6n OFF/STOP.

3. Retire la Ilave de encendido y gu_rdela en un lugar seguro.

4. Limpie toda la nieve y la humedad del _rea alrededor del

motor.

_ ADVERTENCIA! El silenciador, el motor y las

zonas que los rodean se calientan y pueden causar

quemaduras. No los toque.

Procedimientoparaengranarlasbarrenas

1. Paraengranar las barrenas y comenzar a quitar la nieve,

apriete el control de la barrena contra lamanija superior.

Suelte para detener las barrenas.

NOTA: EnIo posible, descargue la nieve en la direcci6n del

viento. Recubra ligeramente cadatrayecto previamente

despejado.

Procedimiento paraengranar ia transmisi6n

1. Sieleva la manija, la goma de la barrena impulsar_ la

m_quina quitanieve hacia adelante. Si presiona lamanija

hacia abajo, elevar_ la barrena del suelo y detendr_ el

avance la m_quina.

NOTA: Demasiada presi6n hacia arriba sobre la manija har_

que la barrena de caucho sedesgaste prematuramente.

iADVERTENCIA! Antes de realizar tareas de

mantenimiento, reparaci6n o inspecci6n en la

m_quina quitanieve, desengrane el control de la

barrena. Apague el motor y retire la Ilave para evitar

el encendido accidental del motor.

de raspad0

Para verificar el ajuste de la placa de raspado, ubique la

unidad sobre una superficie nivelada. Tanto las ruedas

como la placa de raspado y las barrenas deben hacer

contacto con la superficie nivelada. Observe que si la

placa de raspado est_ demasiado alta la nieve puede

volar debajo de la caja. Si la placa de raspado se desgasta

excesivamente, o la unidad no se autopropulsa, es posible

que la placa de raspado est& demasiado baja y debaser

ajustada.

NOTA: En las unidades nuevas o en las que tienen una

placa de raspado nueva las barrenas pueden estar un poco

separadas del suelo.

Para ajustarlas, incline la mkquina quitanieve hacia atrks

hasta que quede apoyada sobre la manija. Afloje las cuatro

tuercas y pernos de seguridad que fijan la placa de raspado

a la caja. Vea la Fig. 6-I. Mueva la placa de raspado hacia la

posici6n deseada y vuelva a apretar las tuercas y los pernos

bien ajustados.

Es posible que necesite realizar ajustes peri6dicos debido al

estiramiento del cable de control y de la correa de transmisi6n

ocasionados por el desgaste.

Si la barrena parece titubear mientras gira, haga Io siguiente:

El agujero superior de la manija de control tiene en cuenta el

ajuste de la tensi6n del cable. Para realizar el ajuste, desconecte

el extremo del cable de control del agujero inferior de la manija

de control e ins6rtelo en el agujero superior como se muestra en

la Fig. 6-2. Pruebe la m_quina quitanieve para ver si se logra una

diferencia apreciable.

Mantenimiento

Lubricad6n

Lubrique los puntos de giro de la manija de control y del resorte

de extensi6n del extremo del cable de control con un aceite

liviano una vez por temporada y antes de almacenar la m_quina

quitanieve al final de la temporada.

Almacenamient0 fuera detemp0rada

Si no se va a usar la m_quina quitanieve durante 30 dias o m_s,

siga las siguientes instrucciones de almacenamiento.

I. Almacene el equipo en un _rea despejada y seca.

2. Si almacena la m_quina en un lugar m_l ventilado, debe

realizarle un tratamiento antioxidante cubri_ndola con un

aceite ligero o silicona, especialmente cualquier

NOTA:Tire hacia abajo la polea Ioca para soltar la correa de

debajo del guardacorrea. Vea la Fig. 7-1.

Para instalar la correa de reemplazo, proceda de la siguiente

manera: Vea la Fig. 7-2:

1. Tire hacia abajo la polea Ioca.

2. Ubique la correa encima de la polea de la barrena, debajo

del guardacorrea.

3. Coloque la correa alrededor de la polea del motor.

4. Empuje la correa pot encima de la base de la polea de la

barrena.

5. Vuelva a instalar la cubierta de la correa que sac6

anteriormente.

Reemplazodeiaspaletasde iabarrena

Las paletas de caucho de la barrena de la m_quina quitanieve

se desgastan y se las debe cambiar si se presentan signos de

desgaste excesivo.

PRECAUCION:NO permita que las paletas de

caucho de la barrena se desgasten hasta el punto en

que partes de la barrena met&lica misma toquen el

pavimento. Si esto sucede la m_quina quitanieve

puede daharse seriamente.

Para cambiar las paletas de caucho proceda de la siguiente

manera:

1. Saque las paletas de caucho ya existentes para Io cual

desenrosque los tornillos autorroscantes que las unen a la

barrena. Vea la Fig. 7-3.

2. Ajuste las nuevas paletas de caucho a la barrena usando los

herrajes que sac6 anteriormente.

Reemplazode ia plata deraspado

La placa de raspado est_ adosada al rondo de la barrena y sujeta

a desgaste. Se la debe controlar peri6dicamente. La placa de

raspado tiene dos bordes de desgaste y se la puede invertir.

1. Quite los cuatro pernos del carro y las tuercas de seguridad

hexagonales que la sujetan a la caja de la m_quina

quitanieve.

2. Instale una nueva placa de raspado, asegur_ndose de que

las cabezas de los pernos del carro queden en el interior de

la caja.

3. Coloque la placa de raspado como se indica en la p_gina 11.

4. Vea la Fig. 6-1.Una vez colocada, ajuste bien.
