The monitor is compact and easy-to-use at home, at work, and

during travel. Perfect for people who frequently monitor their

own blood pressure.

OMRON

digital blood pressure monitors use the oscillometric method

of blood pressure measurement. This means the monitor detects your

blood’s movement through your artery and converts the movements

into a digital reading. An oscillometric monitor does not need a

stethoscope so the monitor is simple to use.

Clinical research has proven a direct relationship between blood

pressure in the wrist and blood pressure in the arm. Changes in

wrist blood pressure reflect changes in arm blood pressure

because the arteries in the wrist and the arm are close to each

other. Frequently measuring the blood pressure in your wrist

will provide your physician with an accurate indication of

changes in your blood pressure.

To assure the correct use of the product basic safety measures

should always be followed including the precautions listed below:

þ Consult your physician before measuring blood pressure at

the wrist if you have any of the following conditions:

severe hypertension, severe diabetes, severe arteriosclerosis,

severe kidney disease, or vascular disease that may

compromise circulation.

þ Read all information in the instruction book and any other

literature included in the box before using the unit.

þ Contact your physician for specific information about your blood

pressure. Follow the instructions of your healthcare provider.

þ Operate the unit only as intended. Do not use for

any other purpose.

þ The unit is intended for use in measuring blood pressure and

pulse rate in adult patient population. Do not use on infants.

þ Do not use a cellular phone near the unit. It may result in

operational failure.

þ Changes or modifications not approved by Omron Healthcare

will void the user warranty. Do not disassemble or attempt to

repair the unit or components.

BEFORE TAKING A MEASUREMENT

1. Avoid eating, drinking alcohol, smoking, exercising and bathing

for 30 minutes before taking a measurement. Rest for at least 15

minutes before taking the measurement.

2. Stress raises blood pressure. Avoid taking measurements during

stressful times.

3. The cuff can be applied to your left or right wrist. Always

measure your blood pressure on the same wrist.

4. Measurements should be taken in a quiet place.

5. Position the unit at heart level throughout the measurement.

6. Remain still and do not talk during the measurement.

7. Keep a record of your blood pressure and pulse readings for your

physician. A single measurement does not provide an accurate

indication of your true blood pressure. You need to take and

record several readings over a period of time. Try to measure

your blood pressure at the same time each day for consistency.

8. Wait 2-3 minutes between measurements. The wait time allows

the arteries to return to the condition prior to taking the blood

pressure measurement. You may need to increase the wait time

depending on your individual physiological characteristics.

IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT SYMBOL ( )

When the monitor detects an irregular rhythm two or more times

during the measurement, the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol

will appear on the display with the measurement values.

An irregular heartbeat rhythm is

defined as a rhythm that varies by

less than 25% from the average

rhythm or 25% more than the

average rhythm detected while the

monitor is measuring the systolic

and diastolic blood pressure.

If the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) displays with your

measurement results we recommend you consult your physician.

BATTERY INSTALLATION

1. Press both sides of the battery cover and

lift the cover off in the direction of the arrow.

2. Install two “AAA” Alkaline Batteries in the

battery compartment, so that + (positive)

and - (negative) polarities match the polarities

of the battery compartment as indicated.

3. Replace the battery cover. Make sure the

battery cover is securely in place.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

Initial Set-Up

When the Low Battery Symbol appears on the display screen

remove all the batteries. Replace with two new batteries at the same

time. When the Low Battery Symbol blinks a brief period of usage

remains. Long life alkaline batteries are recommended.

NOTES:

• Measurement values stored in the memory will not be deleted

during battery replacement.

• After replacing the batteries, reset the date and time. Refer to page

11, Setting the Date and Time.

• Dispose of batteries according to applicable local regulations.

ADVANCED POSITIONING SENSOR

The Advanced Positioning Sensor, A.P.S.

will assure you that the

unit is in the correct position before it starts to take a measurement.

1. Press the SET button

while the power is turned

off. The Position Sensor

symbol ( ) will

appear on the display.

2. Press the MEM button to select “on” or “oFF”. Press the

START/STOP button to save this selection. When the feature

is “on” the symbols will appear on the display. The heart symbol

will begin to flash when your wrist is in the correct position.

POSITION SENSOR ALARM

The Sensor Alarm emits sound to help you place your wrist in the

correct position.

1. Press the SET button twice

while the power is turned off.

The Position Sensor Alarm

symbol ( ) will appears on

the display.

The alarm set “on 1” emits a series of blips if your wrist is too

far away from the correct measuring position and beeps slowly

once your wrist is in the correct position. When “on 2” is set the

alarm only beeps once your wrist is in the correct position.

2. Press the MEM button to select “on 1”, “on 2” or “oFF”.

WRIST MEASUREMENT SELECTION

Blood Pressure Measurements can be taken on the left or right wrist.

1. Press the SET button three (3)

times while the power is turned

off. The Right Wrist Measurement

symbol ( ) will appear on

the display.

Select “on” to measure your blood pressure using your

right wrist.

Select “oFF” to measure your blood pressure using your

left wrist.

2. Press the MEM button to select “on” or “oFF”.

Press the START/STOP button to save this selection.

SETTING THE DATE AND TIME

The Blood Pressure Monitor stores up to 90 measurement values

with the date and time. The monitor also calculates an average

reading based on the last three measurement values.

Set the monitor to the current date and time before taking a

measurement for the first time. If the current date and time is not

set, the default date and time will display. The measurement values

will be stored in the memory with the wrong date and time.

TO START THE SETTING

Press the SET button four (4) times while

the power is turned off.

The will year flash on the display.

SETTING THE YEAR

The year can be set between 2004 and 2030.

When the display reaches 2030, it will return

to 2004.

Press the MEM button to advance by increments

of one year.

NOTE: Press and hold the MEM button to increase

the values faster.

Press the SET button to set the current year.

3. SETTING THE MONTH

Press the MEM button to advance by increments of one month.

Press the SET button to set the current month.

The day flashes on the display.

The time is set using AM or PM.

Press the MEM button to advance by increments

of one hour.

Press the SET button to set the current hour.

APPLYING THE WRIST CUFF

Wrapping the wrist cuff is one of the most important points for

taking a correct measurement.

APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE LEFT WRIST

1. Roll up sleeve. Make sure your sleeve is not

rolled up too tightly on your arm. This may

constrict the flow of blood in your arm.

2. Wrap the cuff directly against your skin.

Do not apply over clothing. Place the cuff over

your left wrist with your left thumb facing upward.

3. Position the cuff leaving a clearance of approximately

1/2 to 1 inch between the cuff and the bottom of your palm.

4. Hold the bottom part of the cuff and wrap it

around the wrist so it fits comfortably and

securely around your wrist.

NOTE: Make sure the wrist cuff does not

cover the protruding part of the wrist bone

on the outside of the wrist.

5. Fold the remaining part of the wrist cuff back

out of the way.

APPLYING THE CUFF ON THE RIGHT WRIST

When taking a measurement using the right

wrist position the cuff as shown in the

illustration.

Make sure the right wrist measurement symbol

is displayed. Refer to page 10, Wrist

Measurement Selection to select “on”.

TAKING A MEASUREMENT

1. Sit comfortably in a chair with your feet

flat on the floor.

2. Press the START/STOP button.

3. Hold your arm across your chest at heart level.

Hold your elbow firmly to avoid body movement.

Sit still and do not talk or move during

the measurement.

4. Description of position sensor activity during measurement.

Adjust the height of your wrist until the position sensor alarm beeps

slowly. When the monitor senses that your arm is in the correct

position, the wrist cuff will automatically start to inflate and

measurement starts.

NOTE: If your wrist is too low or too high, the position sensor

alarm will emit a series of two short bleeps similar to

a heartbeat.

The current time is displayed and the Heart Symbol starts to flash

while the cuff is inflating.

Hold the monitor at heart level until the measurement is completed.

NOTE: To stop the inflation or measurement, push the

START/STOP button. The monitor will stop inflating, start

deflating, and will turn off.

TAKING A MEASUREMENT

5. After the monitor has detected your blood pressure and pulse

rate, the cuff automatically deflates. Your blood pressure and

pulse rate are displayed.

NOTE: The time and date of the measurement are

displayed alternately.

Press the START/STOP button

to turn the monitor off.

NOTE: The monitor will automatically turn off after two minutes.

IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT FEATURE

The irregular heartbeat feature automatically determines if the

measurement is usable.

If the measurement results are affected by irregular heartbeats but

the result is valid, the result is shown together with the Irregular

Heartbeat Symbol ( ).

If the irregular heartbeats cause the measurement to be invalid, no

result is shown. If the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) is shown

after you have taken a measurement, repeat the measurement.

If the Irregular Heartbeat Symbol ( ) is shown frequently, please

notify your doctor.

Every time you complete a measurement the monitor stores the

blood pressure and pulse rate in the memory. The Blood Pressure

Monitor automatically stores up to 90 measurement values. When 90

sets of measurement values are stored in the memory, the oldest

record is deleted to save the most recent measurement values.

The monitor also calculates an average reading based on the values

of the three most recent measurements taken. If the date and time is

not set, the measurement values will not be stored in the memory

correctly.

TO DISPLAY THE AVERAGE VALUE

1. Press the MEM button. The average value symbol will display

on the screen with the average reading.

The date and time is alternately displayed with the measurement

values.

Press the MEM button to display the measurement values

stored in the memory beginning with the most recent values to

the oldest values.

Press the SET button to display the measurement values stored

in the memory beginning with the oldest values to the most

recent values.

NOTES:

• Press the button repeatedly to display the next values.

• Press and hold the button to display the values faster.

Press the START/STOP button to turn the power off.

TO DELETE ALL VALUES STORED IN THE MEMORY

You cannot partially delete records stored in the memory. All records

will be deleted.

Press and hold the MEM button and START/STOP button

simultaneously for more than 2 seconds.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

To keep your Automatic Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor in the best condition

and protect the unit from damage follow the directions listed below:

Clean the monitor with a soft dry cloth. Do not use any abrasive

or volatile cleaners. Do not attempt to wash the cuff. Never immerse the

monitor or any components in water.

Store the monitor in a safe and dry location. Do not fold the cuff tightly.

Do not subject the monitor to extreme hot or cold temperatures, humidity

and direct sunlight. Store the monitor in the storage case when not in use.

Avoid subjecting the monitor to strong shocks or vibrations, such as

dropping the unit on the floor.

Remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for three months or longer.

Always replace all the batteries with new ones at the same time.

Use the unit consistent with the instruction provided in this manual.

Use only authorized parts and accessories.

materials and workmanship appearing within 5 years from the date of

purchase, when used in accordance with the instructions provided with the

monitor. The monitor cuff is warranted to be free from defects in materials

and workmanship appearing within one year from the date of purchase when

the monitor is used in accordance with the instructions provided with the

monitor. The above warranties extend only to the original retail purchaser.

We will, at our option, repair or replace without charge any monitor or monitor

cuff covered by the above warranties. Repair or replacement is our only

responsibility and your only remedy under the above warranties.

El monitor es compacto y fácil de usar en casa, en el trabajo y durante

sus viajes. Es perfecto para la gente que se monitorea con frecuencia la

presión arterial.

Los monitores digitales de presión arterial OMRON

utilizan el método

oscilométrico para medir la presión arterial. Esto significa que el

monitor detecta el movimiento de la sangre a través de la arteria y lo

convierte en una lectura digital. El monitor oscilométrico no necesita

estetoscopio, así que es fácil de usar.

La investigación clínica ha demostrado que existe una relación

directa entre la presión arterial de la muñeca y la presión arterial

del brazo. Los cambios en la presión arterial de la muñeca

reflejan los cambios en la presión arterial del brazo debido a la

proximidad de las arterias de la muñeca y del brazo. La medición

frecuente de su presión arterial en la muñeca les proporcionará a

1. Evite alcohol, el comer, el beber, el fumar, el ejercitar, y el

bañarse para 30 minutos antes de tomar una medición.

Descanse durante al menos 15 minutos antes de tomar la medición.

2. El estrés aumenta la presión arterial. Evite realizar mediciones

durante momentos de estrés.

3. Se puede colocar la muñequera en la muñeca izquierda o

derecha. Tome la medida de la presión arterial en la misma

muñeca siempre.

4. Las mediciones deben realizarse en un lugar tranquilo.

5. Coloque la unidad al nivel del corazón durante toda la

medición.

6. Permanezca quieto y no hable durante la medición.

7. Mantenga un registro de sus lecturas de presión arterial

y pulso para su médico. Una sola medición no proporciona una

indicación precisa de su verdadera presión arterial. Es necesario

tomar y anotar varias lecturas durante un período de tiempo.

Trate de medirse la presión arterial a la misma hora cada día.

8. Espere de 2 a 3 minutos entre mediciones. El tiempo de espera

permite que las arterias vuelvan al estado en que estaban antes

de la medición de la presión arterial. Es posible que necesite

aumentar el tiempo de espera dependiendo de sus c

Cuando el monitor detecte un ritmo irregular dos o más veces

durante la medición, el símbolo de latido cardiaco irregular

aparecerá en la pantalla con los valores de la medición.

INSTALACIÓN DE LAS PILAS

1. Oprima ambos lados de la cubierta de las pilas y

levántela en dirección de la flecha.

2. Instale dos pilas alcalinas “AAA” en el

compartimiento de las pilas, de manera que

las polaridades + (positiva) y - (negativa)

coincidan con las polaridades que se indican

en el compartimiento de las pilas.

3. Vuelva a colocar la cubierta de las pilas.

Asegúrese de que la cubierta de las pilas esté

bien colocada.

REEMPLAZO DE LAS PILAS

Configuración inicial

Cuando el indicador de batería baja aparece en la pantalla retire

todas las baterías. Cuando el símbolo de la bateria parpadea queda

un periodo breve de uso. Se recomienda usar baterías alcalinas de

larga duración.

Notas:

• Los valores de medición que se guardan en la memoria no se

borran durante el cambio de las baterías.

SENSOR AVANZADO DE POSICIÓN

El sensor avanzado de posición, A.P.S.

se asegurará de que su

unidad se encuentre en la posición correcta antes de comenzar

a tomar la medición.

1. Oprima el botón SET (ajustar)

mientras la unidad está apagada.

El símbolo del sensor de posición

2. Oprima el botón MEM (memoria) para seleccionar “on”

“on2” (encendido2) está activada, la unidad sólo emite un bip

una vez que la muñeca está en la posición correcta.

2. Oprima el botón MEM (memoria) para seleccionar “on 1”

(encendido1), “on 2” (encendido2) u “oFF” (apagado).

AJUSTE DE LA FECHA Y LA HORA

El monitor de la presión arterial almacena hasta 90 valores de

medición con la fecha y hora. El monitor también calcula una lectura

promedio basada en los últimos tres valores de medición.

Ajuste el monitor con la fecha y hora actuales antes de realizar la

primera medición. Si no se ajusta la fecha y la hora, aparecerá una

fecha y hora predeterminadas en la pantalla. Los valores de las

mediciones se almacenarán en la memoria con la fecha y hora

incorrectas.

PARA COMENZAR EL AJUSTE

Oprima el botón SET (ajustar) cuatro

COLOCACIÓN DE LA MUÑEQUERA

La colocación de la muñequera es uno de los pasos más importantes

para tomar una medición correcta.

APLICACIÓN DE LA MUÑEQUERA EN LA MUÑECA

IZQUIERDA

1. Súbase la manga. Asegúrese de que no le quede

muy apretada en el brazo. Esto puede reducir el

flujo sanguíneo del brazo.

2. Coloque la muñequera directamente sobre la

piel. No lo aplique sobre la ropa. Colóquese la

muñequera en la muñeca izquierda con el

pulgar izquierdo hacia arriba.

3. Coloque la muñequera dejando un espacio de aproximadamente

media a una pulgada (12 mm a 25 mm) entre ésta y la parte

inferior de la palma de la mano.

4. Sostenga la parte inferior de la muñequera y

envuélvala alrededor de la muñeca para que le

quede cómoda y segura.

NOTA: Asegúrese de que la muñequera no

le cubra la parte sobresaliente del

hueso de la muñeca en la parte exterior de la misma.

5. Doble la parte restante de la muñequera hacia

atrás para que no le estorbe.

COLOCACIÓN DE LA MUÑEQUERA EN LA

MUÑECA DERECHA

Cuando tome una medición utilizando la

muñeca derecha, colóquese la muñequera

como se muestra en la ilustración.

Asegúrese de que aparezca el símbolo de

medición correcto. Consulte la página 10,

“Selección de medición en la muñeca”,

para seleccionar “on” (encendido).

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

1. Siéntese cómodamente en una silla con los

pies en el suelo.

2. Oprima el botón START/STOP (inicio/paro).

3. Sosténgase el brazo sobre el pecho al nivel del

corazón. Sosténgase el codo con firmeza para evitar

movimiento corporal. Permanezca quieto y no hable

ni se mueva durante la medición.

4. Descripción de la actividad del sensor de posición durante la

medición.

Ajústese la altura de la muñeca hasta que la alarma del sensor de

posición emita un bip lento. Cuando el monitor detecte que el brazo

se encuentra en la posición correcta, la muñequera comenzará a

inflarse automáticamente y comenzará la medición.

NOTA: Si tiene la muñeca demasiado baja o alta, la alarma del

sensor de posición emitirá una serie de dos blips cortos

similares al latido cardiaco.

Aparece la hora actual y el símbolo del corazón comienza a

parpadear mientras la muñequera se infla.

Mantenga el monitor al nivel del corazón hasta completar la

medición.

NOTA: Para detener el inflado o la medición, oprima el botón

START/STOP (inicio/paro). El monitor detendrá el inflado,

iniciará el desinflado y se apagará.

CÓMO TOMAR UNA MEDICIÓN

5. Después de que el monitor le haya detectado la presión arterial y

el pulso, la muñequera comenzará a desinflarse automáticamente.

Aparece la presión arterial y pulso en la pantalla.

NOTA: La hora y fecha de la medición se

muestran automáticamente.

Oprima el botón START/STOP (inicio/paro)

para apagar el monitor.

NOTA: El monitor se apagará automáticamente

después de dos minutos.

FUNCIÓN DE LATIDO CARDIACO IRREGULAR

La función de latido cardiaco irregular determina automáticamente

si la medición se puede utilizar.

Si la medición resultó afectada por el latido cardiaco irregular pero

el resultado es válido, éste se muestra con el símbolo de latido

cardiaco irregular ( ).

Si el latido cardiaco irregular hace que la medición sea inválida,

no aparecerá ningún resultado. Si se muestra el símbolo de latido

cardiaco irregular ( ) después de que tome una medición, repita

el procedimiento.

Si el símbolo de latido cardiaco irregular ( ) aparece con

frecuencia, notifique a su médico.

Cada vez que realiza una medición, el monitor almacena los valores

de presión arterial y pulso en la memoria. El monitor de presión

arterial automáticamente almacena hasta 90 valores de medición.

Cuando se almacenan 90 conjuntos de valores de medición en la

memoria, el registro más antiguo se elimina para guardar el registro

más reciente.

El monitor también calcula una lectura promedio basada en los

valores de las tres mediciones más recientes. Si no se han ajustado

la fecha y la hora, los valores de medición no se almacenarán

correctamente en la memoria.

CUIDADO Y MANTENIMIENTO

Para mantener en buen estado su Monitor automático con muñequera

para medir la presión arterial y proteger la unidad contra daños, siga las

instrucciones que se presentan a continuación:

Limpie el monitor con un paño suave y seco. No use limpiadores abrasivos

ni volátiles. No trate de lavar la muñequera. Nunca sumerja el monitor ni

ninguno de sus componentes en agua.

Guarde el monitor en un lugar seguro y seco. No doble ajustadamente

la muñequera. No exponga el monitor a temperaturas extremas, humedad

y luz solar directa. Almacene el monitor en la cajo protectora cuando

no se use.

Evite exponer el monitor a impactos o vibraciones fuertes, como dejar

caer la unidad al suelo.

Quite las pilas si la unidad no se va a usar por tres meses o más.

Siempre reemplace todas las pilas simultáneamente con pilas nuevas.

Use la unidad de acuerdo con las instrucciones descritas en este manual.
