1. Do not use the appliance for any purposes other than those

described in these instructions. Improper use of the appliance

can put the user at risk of injury.

2. Make sure that the power cord never gets wet or damp

during operation. Do not let the cord hang over the edge of

the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. Position the cord

in such a way that no one can step on it or trip over it, and it

cannot be pinched or otherwise damaged.

4. Ensure that the appliance can never come into contact with

Important cord information

This appliance has a polarized plug (one pin is wider than the oth-

er). To reduce the risk of electric shock, there is only one way this

plug is intended to ﬁt into a polarized outlet. If the plug does not

completely ﬁt into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not ﬁt,

contact a qualiﬁed electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug

in any way.

a) A short power-supply cord (or detachable power-supply cord)

is provided to reduce risks resulting from becoming entangled

in or tripping over a longer cord.

b) Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are

available and may be used if they are used carefully.

c) If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used:

The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply

cord or extension cord should be at least as great as the

electrical rating of the appliance;

Intended use

This appliance is intended exclusively for the production of yogurt

in private households.

Do not use the appliance in commercial/industrial applications.

Usage other than described in this manual is not permitted and

may cause damage or injury. No liability will be assumed for

damage caused by misuse or improper handling, the use of force,

or unauthorized modiﬁcation.

Checking package contents

This appliance comes standard with the following components:

▯ Operating instructions

Packaging materials are not children’s toys. Therefore, children must

not be allowed to play with them. There is a risk of suﬀocation!

♦ Remove all parts of the appliance and the operating instructions

from the box.

♦ Remove all packaging material and adhesives from the appli-

ance.

♦ Remove all the ﬁlms from the yogurt jars

If the delivery is incomplete or damage occurred as a result of

defective packaging or during transport, please contact the

customer service hotline (see section about "3 year limited

warranty").

Before ﬁrst use

♦ Clean all parts as described in the "Cleaning" section.

♦ Place the appliance on a dry, level surface.

♦ Ensure that the power socket is within easy reach.

Information on making yogurt

■ Yogurt is made when lactic acid bacteria, the so-called yogurt

cultures, transform the lactose in milk into lactic acid. This appli-

ance generates the ideal temperature required for the yogurt

cultures to multiply.

■ You can use whole milk, low-fat milk or skim milk to make

yogurt.

■ If you wish to use raw milk or fresh milk from a farm for your

yogurt, please heat the milk beforehand as described in the

section "Preparing the milk".

If you wish to make cream yogurt, replace some or all of the

milk with cream.

Yogurt cultures (lactic acid bacteria)

■ Living yogurt cultures are contained in store-bought natural

yogurt, home-made yogurt and yogurt powder.

■ You can buy yogurt powder from well-stocked supermarkets or

health food stores.

■ When buying yogurt, ensure that it is not pasteurized and that

the fat content stated on the container is identical to that of

the milk you are using. Otherwise, the yogurt will not set, and

water will collect on the surface.

■ You can also use your own, home-made yogurt to prepare

further batches. However, yogurt produced this way will

become thinner with each batch. Once the yogurt becomes

too thin for your liking, use fresh yogurt cultures.

Preparing the milk

If you wish to use raw milk or fresh milk from a farm to make

yogurt, you need to heat it ﬁrst in order to render other bacteria

contained in the milk harmless. These bacteria may otherwise

spoil the yogurt.

♦ Heat the milk until it is almost boiling.

♦ Just before the milk reaches boiling point, take it oﬀ the heat.

The milk must not boil, as this will yield ﬂavorless yogurt that

does not set.

♦ Wait for the milk to cool down to below 113 °F / 45 °C

before adding the yogurt cultures.

You need a thermometer to determine the exact temperature. If

you do not have a thermometer, keep in mind that the milk should

be a little warmer than lukewarm.

Making the yogurt

Yogurt can be made with cold or warm milk. The yogurt cultures

multiply faster in warm milk. Do not use milk warmer than 113 °F /

45 °C, however, as this destroys the yogurt cultures. Raw milk

or fresh milk from a farm must be prepared as described in the

section "Preparing the milk".

♦ Mix the yogurt powder (as described on the packaging) or

approx. 5 tea spoons of yogurt (with living yogurt cultures)

and 33.8 ﬂ oz / 1 liter of milk. Ideally, use a hand-held mixer.

♦ Fill the mixture into the cleaned yogurt jars 4.

♦ Close the yogurt jars 4 using the provided lids.

♦ Place the closed yogurt jars 4 in the housing 2.

♦ Place the lid 1 on the housing 2.

♦ Insert the plug into a power socket.

♦ Turn the On/Oﬀ switch 3 to the "–" position.

The On/Oﬀ switch 3 lights up.

♦ Your yogurt will reach the desired ﬁrmness after 10-12 hours.

Make sure that the yogurt is left to stand still during the maturing

phase! Do not move the appliance or any individual jars!

Otherwise, the yogurt will not set.

♦ After the maturing process concludes, turn oﬀ the appliance by

moving the On/Oﬀ switch 3 to the "0" position. The light in

the On/Oﬀ switch 3 turns oﬀ.

♦ Remove the power plug from the power socket.

♦ Refrigerate all yogurt jars 4 in order to stop the acidiﬁcation

process.

You can enjoy your yogurt on its own or add fruit, jam, chocolate

sprinkles or other ingredients. The sky is the limit!

Possible mistakes when making yogurt

The yogurt is clumpy:

■ The milk was too hot.

■ You did not stir the yogurt long enough.

■ The milk was spoiled.

Liquid collects on the surface:

■ The yogurt was left in the appliance for too long.

■ The jars were moved too soon.

■ The yogurt was not cooled suﬃciently.

The yogurt is too soft:

■ The yogurt cultures and milk had diﬀerent fat contents.

■ The maturing phase was too short.

■ The yogurt cultures were not fresh enough.

Cleaning

► Always disconnect the power plug from the power socket

before cleaning the appliance.

► Never immerse the appliance in water or other liquids!

Otherwise there is a risk of a fatal electric shock.

► Do not use aggressive, abrasive or chemical cleaning agents.

They can damage the surface and lead to irreparable damage

to the appliance.

Clean the appliance as soon as possible after use to prevent

residue from drying. Dried residue is diﬃcult to remove.

♦ Clean the housing 2 and lid 1 with a dry or slightly damp

cloth. For stubborn dirt, add a small amount of mild detergent

to the cloth.

♦ Rinse the yogurt jars 4 and their lids with warm water and

dish soap.

Ensure that no dish soap residue remains on any of the parts.

You can clean the lid 1 and the yogurt jars 4 in the dish

washer. Place the lid 1 in the upper basket of the dish-

washer and ensure that it cannot get jammed.

Storing

♦ Clean the appliance as described in the section "Cleaning".

♦ Place the cleaned, closed yogurt jars 4 inside the housing 2

and place the lid 1 on the housing 2.

♦♦♦Store the appliance in a dry and dust free location.

Disposal

Disposal of the appliance

Electric appliances may not be thrown away as part of normal

household trash. If you can no longer use your electric appliance,

dispose of it in accordance with the legal provisions applicable

in your state. This will ensure that old electric appliances are

recycled and environmental pollution is kept to a minimum.

Further information about disposal is available on the internet

at www.epa.gov.

Disposal of the packaging

Note the marking on the diﬀerent packaging materials and sepa-

rate them as necessary. The packaging materials are marked with

abbreviations (a) and numbers (b) with the following meanings:

Dispose of all packaging materials in an environmentally friendly

manner.

What does this warranty cover?

The warranty covers:

▯ Damage, breakage or inoperability due to defect.

▯ Damage not caused by normal wear and tear or failure to follow

the safety and maintenance instructions provided in the user

manual.

What is not covered by the warranty?

The warranty does not cover damage caused by:

▯ Normal wear and tear of the product, including fragile parts

(such as switches, glass, etc.);

▯ Improper use or transport;

▯ Disregarding safety and maintenance instructions;

▯ Accidents or acts of nature (e.g. lightning, ﬁre, water, etc.);

▯ Tampering with the product (such as removing cover, unscrewing

screws etc.)

Consequential and incidental damages are also not covered under

this warranty. However, some states do not allow the exclusion or

limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so this limitation

or exclusion may not apply to you.

At our discretion, product will either be refunded or replaced.

Información importante sobre el cable

Este dispositivo tiene una clavija polarizada (una patilla es más

Antes del primer uso

♦ Limpie todas las partes como se describe en la sección "Limpieza".

♦ Coloque el dispositivo sobre una superﬁcie seca y nivelada.

♦ Asegúrese de que la toma de corriente sea fácil de alcanzar.

Información sobre preparación de yogurt

■ El yogurt se prepara cuando bacterias del ácido láctico, los así

llamados cultivos de yogurt, transforman la lactosa de la leche

en ácido láctico. Este dispositivo genera la temperatura ideal

requerida para que los cultivos de yogurt se multipliquen.

■ Puede usar leche entera, leche semidescremada o leche

descremada para preparar yogurt.

■ Si desea usar leche cruda o leche fresca de granja para el

yogurt, caliéntela antes como se describe en la sección

"Preparación de la leche".

Si desea preparar yogurt cremoso, sustituya una parte o toda la

leche con crema.

Cultivos de yogurt (bacterias del ácido láctico)

■ Los cultivos vivos de yogurt están presentes en el yogurt natural

que se vende en la tienda, en el yogurt hecho en casa y en el

polvo de yogurt.

■ Puede comprar polvo de yogurt en supermercados bien surtidos

o en tiendas de alimentos saludables.

■ Cuando compre yogurt, asegúrese de que no esté pasteurizado

y que el contenido de grasa indicado en el envase sea idéntico

al de la leche que está usando. De lo contrario, el yogurt no

cuajará y se acumulará agua en la superﬁcie.

■ También puede usar su propio yogurt hecho en casa para

preparar más lotes. Sin embargo, el yogurt producido en esta

forma se hará más delgado con cada lote. Una vez que el

yogurt sea demasiado delgado para su gusto, use cultivos de

yogurt nuevos.

Preparación de la leche

Si desea usar leche cruda o leche fresca de granja para preparar

yogurt, necesita calentarla primero para hacer inocuas otras

bacterias que contiene la leche. De otra forma , estas bacterias

podrían echar a perder el yogurt.

♦ Caliente la leche hasta que casi hierva.

♦ Justo antes de que alcance el punto de ebullición, retírela del

calor. La leche no debe hervir, ya que esto producirá yogurt

sin sabor que no cuaja.

♦ Espere a que la leche se enfríe a menos de 113 °F / 45 °C

antes de agregar los cultivos de yogurt.

Necesita un termómetro para determinar la temperatura exacta.

Si no tiene un termómetro, tenga en cuenta que la leche deberá

estar un poco más caliente que solo tibia.

Preparación del yogurt

El yogurt puede prepararse con leche fría o tibia. Los cultivos de

yogurt se multiplican más rápido en leche tibia. No use leche más

caliente que 113 °F / 45 °C, ya que los cultivos de yogurt se des-

truyen. La leche cruda o la leche fresca de granja deben prepa-

rarse como se indica en la sección "Preparación de la leche".

♦ Mezcle el polvo de yogurt (como se describe en el envase) o

aproximadamente 5 cucharaditas de yogurt (con cultivos de

yogurt vivos) y 33.8 ﬂ oz / 1 litro de leche. De manera ideal,

use una batidora de mano.

♦ Vierta la mezcla en los tarros de yogurt limpios 4.

♦ Tape los tarros de yogurt 4 con las tapas incluidas.

♦ Coloque los tarros de yogurt cerrados 4 en la carcasa 2.

♦ Coloque la tapa 1 en la carcasa 2.

♦ Inserte la clavija en una toma de corriente.

♦ Cambie el interruptor de encendido/apagado 3 a la posición

"–". El interruptor de encendido/apagado 3 se enciende.

♦ El yogurt alcanzará la ﬁrmeza deseada después de 10 a

12 horas.

¡Asegúrese de dejar el yogurt reposar durante la fase de madura-

ción! ¡No mueva el dispositivo ni los tarros individuales! De lo

contrario, el yogurt no cuajará.

♦ Una vez que termine el proceso de maduración, cambie el

interruptor de encendido/apagado 3 a la posición "0" para

apagar el dispositivo. La luz del interruptor de encendido/

apagado 3 se apaga.

♦ Desconecte la clavija de la toma de corriente.

♦ Refrigere todos los tarros de yogurt 4 para detener el proceso

de acidiﬁcación.

Puede consumir el yogurt solo o agregar fruta, mermelada,

chispas de chocolate u otros ingredientes. ¡No hay límites!

Posibles errores al preparar yogurt

El yogurt está grumoso:

■ La leche estaba demasiado caliente.

■ No mezcló el yogurt el tiempo suﬁciente.

■ La leche estaba echada a perder.

Hay acumulación de líquido en la superﬁcie:

■ El yogurt se dejó en el dispositivo demasiado tiempo.

■ Los tarros se movieron demasiado pronto.

■ El yogurt no se enfrió lo suﬁciente.

El yogurt está demasiado blando:

■ Los cultivos de yogurt y la leche tenían diferente contenido de

grasa.

■ La fase de maduración fue demasiado corta.

■ Los cultivos de yogurt no eran lo suﬁcientemente nuevos.

Limpieza

► Siempre desconecte la clavija de la toma de corriente antes

de limpiar el dispositivo.

► ¡Nunca sumerja el dispositivo en agua u otro líquido!

De lo contrario, existe el riesgo de descarga eléctrica.

► No use agentes de limpieza agresivos, abrasivos o químicos.

Estos pueden dañar la superﬁcie y causar daños irreparables

al dispositivo.

Limpie el dispositivo lo más pronto posible después de usarlo

para prevenir que los residuos se sequen. Los residuos secos

son difíciles de remover.

♦ Limpie la carcasa 2 y la tapa 1 con una tela seca o ligera-

mente humedecida. Para suciedad difícil, agregue una pequeña

cantidad de detergente suave a la tela.

♦ Enjuague los tarros de yogurt 4 y las tapas con agua tibia

y jabón para trastes.

Asegúrese de que no queden residuos de jabón en ninguna

de las partes.

Puede limpiar la tapa 1 y los tarros de yogurt 4 en la

máquina lavaplatos. Coloque la tapa 1 en la canastilla

superior de la máquina lavaplatos y asegúrese de que

esta no se atore.

Almacenamiento

♦ Limpie el dispositivo como se describe en la sección "Limpieza".

♦ Coloque los tarros de yogurt 4 limpios y cerrados dentro de

la carcasa 2 y coloque la tapa 1 en la carcasa 2.

♦♦♦Guarde el dispositivo en un lugar seco y libre de polvo.

Eliminación

Eliminación del dispositivo
