This thermometer is a high-quality product incorporating the latest technology and tested in

accordance with international standards. With its unique technology, the product can provide

a stable, accurate reading with each measurement. The thermometer performs a self-test

every time it is switched on for accurate measurement.

Indications for Use/Intended use

The Braun® BNT300 Non-contact forehead thermometer is a non-sterile, reusable, clinical

thermometer intended for the intermittent determination of human body temperature in

a touch and no touch mode using the center of the forehead as the measurement site on

people of all ages in a home use environment.

Please read these instructions carefully before using this product and keep the instructions

and the thermometer in a safe place.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS

Keep out of reach of children under 12 years.

NEVER use the thermometer for purposes other than those for which it has been intended.

Please follow the general safety precautions when using on children.

NEVER immerse the thermometer into water or other liquids (not waterproof). For cleaning

and disinfecting please follow the instructions in the “Care and cleaning” section.

DO NOT store this thermometer in temperature extremes below -13 °F or over 131 °F (below

-25 °C or over 55 °C ) or in excessive humidity (above 95% non-condensing relative humidity).

If this thermometer is stored in a location that is cooler or warmer than where it will be used,

allow it to acclimate to the room temperature for 10 minutes before taking a measurement.

DO NOT use the thermometer if there are signs of damage on the scanner or on the

thermometer itself. If damaged, DO NOT attempt to repair the product.

NEVER insert a sharp object into the scanner area or any other open surface on the

thermometer.

This thermometer consists of high-quality precision parts. DO NOT drop the instrument.

Protect it from severe impact and shock.

This thermometer is intended for household use only.

Use of this thermometer is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your physician.

Temperature elevation may signal a serious illness, especially in neonates and infants,

or in adults who are old, frail, or have a weakened immune system. Please seek professional

advice immediately when a temperature elevation occurs on persons that are:

• Neonates and infants under 3 months (Consult your physician

immediately if the temperature exceeds 99.4 °F [37.4 °C])

• Individuals over 60 years of age (Fever may be blunted or absent in older individuals)

• Individuals having diabetes mellitus or a weakened immune system (e.g., HIV positive,

cancer chemotherapy, chronic immunosuppressant treatment, splenectomy)

• Individuals who are bedridden (e.g., nursing home patient, stroke, chronic illness,

paraplegia, quadriplegia, surgical recovery)

• A transplant recipient (e.g., liver, heart, lung, kidney)

This thermometer is not intended for newborn pre-term babies or small-for-gestational age

newborn babies (birth to 4 weeks of age). Pre-term is dened as babies born before 37 weeks

of gestation. Small-for-gestational-age is dened as a baby, born at 37 weeks or later, with a

weight below the 10th percentile for newborn babies of the same gestational age.

This thermometer is not intended to interpret hypothermic temperatures. If the device

displays a temperature of 97.5 °F (36.4 °C) or less with an LED backlight color of green or

white, and the individual is exhibiting atypical symptoms or behaviors, contact your

physician or health care professional.

DO NOT allow children to take their temperature unattended.

Please consult your physician if you see symptoms such as unexplained irritability, vomiting,

diarrhea, dehydration, changes in appetite or activity, seizure, muscle pain, shivering, sti

neck, pain when urinating, etc., even in the absence of fever.

Even in the absence of fever, those who exhibit a normal temperature may still need to receive

medical attention. People who are on antibiotics, analgesics, or antipyretics should not be

assessed solely on temperature readings to determine the severity of their illness.

How does Braun Sensian™ Non-contact forehead work?

The Braun Sensian™ Non-contact forehead thermometer measures infrared energy radiated

from the skin at the center of the forehead area. This captured energy is collected through the

sensor and converted to an oral equivalent temperature value.

The Braun Sensian™ Non-contact forehead thermometer has been clinically tested

and proven to be safe and accurate when used in accordance with its operating

instruction manual.

Color-coded fever guidance

Color-coded fever guidance helps you to better understand the meaning of your child’s

temperature with the color indicated on the display. The screen displays a green, yellow,

or red backlight depending on the temperature reading. 10 audible beeps indicate

temperatures above 99.4 °F (37.4 °C).

It is important to note that an individual’s temperature may be impacted by age, gender

or medical condition, or by factors such as ambient temperature, time of day, medications

taken or the temperature measurement site1.

How to use your Braun Sensian™ Non-contact

forehead thermometer

Remove cap

Power on

Press and release the power button once.

Backlight will come on and the start up

sequence starts.

When the device is ready and correctly

positioned, a horizontal line of dashes

(“---”) will appear on the screen.

Position correctly with

Position thermometer on or up to 1” (2.5 cm)

away from the center of the forehead, just

between the eyebrows.

For non-contact readings, the yellow guidance

light will show you where you are aiming.

If the eyebrow area is covered with hair,

sweat or dirt, please clean the area

beforehand to improve the reading

accuracy. It is important to hold the

thermometer and the forehead steady

during measurement. Movement will

impact the temperature reading.

Take temperature

Press the temperature button (you can press and hold the

button or press and release it). When the device is placed

correctly, the screen displays a dashed line animation while

it takes a reading. After the animation sequence (under 2

seconds), the display shows the temperature. The appropriate

backlight color is displayed on the screen and the conrmation

beep is heard.

If the device is positioned too far away from the forehead, it will

prompt you to move closer by displaying the letters “Fwd.”

Slowly move the device toward the forehead until the dashed

line animation starts and a reading is displayed.

Read temperature

Remove the device and read the

temperature.

For no backlight and green backlight

readings, you will hear a single long

beep for 2 seconds. For yellow and red

backlight readings, you will hear 10

short beeps.

Press the power button to turn o. Device will also shut o

automatically after 60 seconds of no use.

Before storing the thermometer, attach the protective cap to prevent

dust and debris from accumulating on the sensor.

Temperature taking hints

It is important to know each individual’s normal temperature when they are well. This is the

only way to accurately diagnose a fever. Take multiple readings when healthy to determine

normal temperature.

A child’s normal temperature can be as high as 99.9 °F (37.7 °C) or as low as 97.0 °F (36.1 °C).

Be sure to note this unit reads 0.9 °F (0.5 °C) lower than a rectal digital measurement.

An individual must be inside for 30 minutes before taking a measurement.

Note: The thermometer and Individual should be in the same ambient temperature

for at least 10 minutes.

ALWAYS hold the thermometer and the forehead steady when taking a reading.

DO NOT move the thermometer until you hear the nal beep.

Nursing mothers should not take a temperature measurement on themselves or have their

temperature measured by another individual while or immediately after nursing a baby,

as nursing can aect body temperature.

Individuals should not drink, eat, or be physically active before/while taking the

measurement. Remove hats and wait 10 minutes before taking a measurement.

Before taking a measurement, remove dirt or hair from the forehead area. Wait 10 minutes

after cleaning before taking a measurement.

ALWAYS take the temperature exactly as directed. Temperature results may vary if positioned

in the wrong location.

For individuals measuring their own temperature, it is recommended to use the “touch”

option instead of “no touch.”

In the following situations it is recommended that three temperatures in the same location

be taken and the highest one taken as the reading:

• Newborn infants in the rst 100 days.

• Children under three years of age with a compromised immune system and for whom

the presence or absence of fever is critical.

• When the user is learning how to use the thermometer for the rst time until he/she has

familiarized himself/herself with the instrument and obtains consistent readings.

General precautions:

• Remove any sweat prior to measuring with a dry cloth.

• Avoid any cooling or warming cloths on the forehead for at least 30 minutes prior to

measurement.

• Remove blankets and pillows away from the head and face prior to measurement.

• DO NOT take temperature measurements over scar tissue, open sores, or abrasions.

• Keep the measurement sensor and lens clean. Avoid directly touching the sensor or lens.

• ALWAYS store the thermometer with the protective cap in place to prevent dirt and

scratches from damaging the device.

• Make sure to remove the protective cap before taking a measurement and to put the cap

back on after using the thermometer.

How to change temperature

How to change between sound and

silent mode

The Braun Sensian™ Non-contact forehead thermometer

allows you to silence the beeps on the thermometer to

avoid waking a sleeping child. To use this feature, slide

the switch to the silent mode position and take a

temperature reading. An icon will appear on the screen

to show that the thermometer is in silent mode.

Calibration

The thermometer is initially calibrated at the time of manufacture.

If this thermometer is used according to the use instructions, periodic

re-adjustment is not required. If at any time you question the accuracy,

please contact Consumer Relations.

Care and cleaning

The thermometer should be cleaned in between uses, as necessary.

Use an alcohol swab or cotton swab moistened with alcohol (70% Isopropyl) to clean

the thermometer casing and the measuring scanner area. Ensure that no liquid enters

the interior of the thermometer.

Never use abrasive cleaning agents, thinners or benzene for cleaning and never soak the

device in water or other cleaning liquids. Wait 10 minutes after cleaning before taking a

temperature measurement.

Make sure to replace the protective cap after use to prevent scratches or damage to

the thermometer.

Never insert a sharp object into the scanner area or any other open surface on the

thermometer.

Clean scanner area before each use or as needed.

Replacing the batteries

The Braun Sensian™ Non-contact forehead thermometer comes with 2 AAA batteries.

Replace with 2 new AAA batteries when the ashing battery symbol appears on the LCD screen.

To change the batteries, slide open the battery cover and remove batteries. Replace the batteries

being sure to align properly as indicated inside the battery compartment. Remove the batteries

from the device if it will not be used for an extended period of time in order to avoid damage to

the thermometer resulting from a leaking battery.

To protect the environment, dispose of the product and empty batteries at

appropriate collection sites according to national or local regulations.

Do not mix alkaline, standard, or rechargeable batteries.

Errors and troubleshooting

El termómetro de frente Sin Contacto Sensian™ de Braun mide la

energía infrarroja irradiada por la piel en el centro del área de la frente.

Esta energía capturada es recolectada a través del sensor y convertida

a un valor de temperatura oral equivalente.

El termómetro de frente Sin Contacto Sensian™ de Braun

ha sido clínicamente probado y demostrado de ser

seguro y preciso cuando se utiliza conforme a su manual

de instrucciones.

Guía de ebre codicada por colores le ayuda a entender mejor el signicado de

la temperatura de su hijo con el color indicado en la pantalla. La pantalla

muestra una luz verde, amarilla o roja dependiendo de la lectura de

temperatura. 10 señales sonoras indicarán las temperaturas por encima de

99.4F (37.4C).

Es importante tener en cuenta que la temperatura del paciente puede ser

afectada por la edad, género o condición médica, o por factores como la

temperatura ambiente, hora del día, medicamentos tomados, o el lugar de

medición de temperatura3.

Posicione correctamente con

PositionCheck™

Coloque el termómetro sobre o a una distancia

máxima de 2.5 cm (1pulgada) del centro de la

frente, justo entre las cejas.

Cuando el termómetro esté listo y sobre

o a una distancia de 2.5 cm (1 pulgada) de la

frente. Aparecerá una línea horizontal de

guiones (“---”) en la pantalla.

Para las lecturas Sin Contacto, la luz de

guía amarilla le indicará hacia dónde

está apuntado.

En caso de que la zona de las cejas esté

cubierta de cabello, sudor o suciedad, por

favor limpie previamente la zona para mejorar

la precisión de la lectura. Es importante

mantener el termómetro y la frente estables

durante la medición. El movimiento afectará

la lectura de la temperatura.

Encender

Presione y suelte el botón de encendido

una vez. La luz de fondo se encenderá e

iniciará la secuencia de arranque.

Alistar

Cuando el dispositivo está listo y

correctamente colocado, una línea

horizontal de guiones (“---”) aparecerá

en la pantalla.

Tomar la temperatura

Presione el botón de temperatura (puede mantener

presionado el botón o presionar y soltarlo). Cuando el

dispositivo se coloca correctamente, la pantalla muestra

una animación de línea de guiones mientras toma una

lectura. Después de la secuencia de animación (menos de

2 segundos), la pantalla muestra la temperatura. El color

apropiado de luz es mostrado en la pantalla y se escucha

la señal sonora de conrmación.

Leer temperatura

Retire el dispositivo y lea la temperatura.

Para lecturas sin luz o con luz verde, escuchará

una señal sonora larga durante 2 segundos.

Para lecturas con luz amarilla y roja, escuchará

10 señales sonoras cortas.

Para repetir

Vaya al paso 3.

Apagar

Presione el botón de encendido para apagar. El dispositivo también se apagará

automáticamente después de 60 segundos sin uso.

Si el dispositivo se coloca demasiado lejos de la

frente, le indicará que se acerque al mostrar las

letras “Fwd.” Mueva lentamente el aparato hacia la

frente hasta que inicie la animación de guiones y se

muestre una lectura.

Sugerencias para tomar la temperatura

Es importante saber la temperatura normal de cada individuo cuando está sano. Esta es la

única manera de diagnosticar con precisión la ebre. Para determinar la temperatura

normal, tome varias lecturas cuando esté sano.

La temperatura normal de un niño puede ser tan alta como 99.9 °F (37.7 °C) o tan baja

como 97.0 °F (36.1 °C). Asegúrese de tomar en cuenta que esta unidad lee 0.9 °F (0.5 °C)

más bajo que una medición digital rectal.

Un individuo debe estar en interiores durante 30 minutos antes de tomar una medición.

Nota: El termómetro y el individuo deben estar en la misma temperatura ambiente

durante al menos 10 minutos.

SIEMPRE mantenga el termómetro y la frente estables al tomar una lectura.

NO mueva el termómetro hasta que escuche el pitido nal.

Las madres lactantes no deben tomar una medición de temperatura en sí mismas o que

otro individuo les realice la medición de temperatura mientras o inmeditamente después

de amamantar a un bebé, ya que la lactancia puede afectar la temperatura corporal.

Los individuos no deben beber, comer, o estar físicamente activos antes/mientras realiza

la medición. Retire el sombrero y espere 10 minutos antes de realizar una medición.

Antes de realizar una medición, retire la suciedad o el cabello de la zona de la frente.

Espere 10 minutos después de lavar el área de la frente antes de tomar una lectura.

SIEMPRE tome la temperatura exactamente como se indica. Los resultados de la

temperatura puede variar si se coloca en el lugar equivocado.

Para personas que miden su propia temperatura, se recomienda utilizar la opción “con

contacto” en lugar de “sin contacto.”

En las siguientes situaciones se recomienda que se tomen tres temperaturas en el mismo

lugar y se tome la más alta como la lectura:

• Bebés recién nacidos en los primeros 100 días.

• Niños menores de tres años de edad con un sistema inmunológico comprometido y

para quienes la presencia o ausencia de ebre es crítica.

• Cuando el usuario está aprendiendo a usar el termómetro por primera vez hasta que se

haya familiarizado con el instrumento y obtenga lecturas consistentes.

Precauciones Generales:

• Retire el sudor con un paño seco antes de realizar la medición.

• Evite los paños de enfriamiento o calentamiento en la frente durante al menos 30

minutos antes de la medición.

• Retire las sábanas y almohadas de la cabeza y la cara antes de la medición.

• NO realice mediciones de temperatura sobre tejido cicatrizal, llagas abiertas o

abrasiones.

• Mantenga limpios el sensor de medición y el lente. Evite tocar directamente el sensor

o el lente.

• SIEMPRE guarde el termómetro con la tapa protectora en su lugar para evitar que la

suciedad y los raspones dañen el dispositivo.

• Asegúrese de retirar la tapa protectora antes de tomar una medición y volver a

colocarla después de utilizar el termómetro.

Cómo cambiar la temperatura

entre °F y °C

Abra el compartimiento de baterías y retire las

baterías.

El interruptor ˚C / ˚F se encuentra en el

centro del compartimiento de la batería.

Deslice el interruptor de ˚C a ˚F para establecer

la escala de temperatura deseada.

Vuelva a colocar las baterías y cierre la puerta de

las baterías.

Cómo cambiar entre el modo

silencioso y de sonido

El termómetro de frente Sin Contacto Sensian™ de Braun

permite silenciar las señales sonoras del termómetro para

evitar despertar a un niño dormido. Para usar esta función,

deslice el interruptor a la posición de modo silencioso y

tome una lectura de temperatura. Aparecerá un ícono en

la pantalla para mostrar que el termómetro está en modo

silencioso.

Calibración

El termómetro es calibrado inicialmente en el momento de fabricación. Si este

termómetro se usa de acuerdo con las instrucciones de uso, no es necesario el

reajuste periódico. Si en cualquier momento se cuestiona de la exactitud, por favor

contacte Servicio al Consumidor.

Errores y Solución de Problemas

Situación

Cuando reste 20% de la vida de

la batería, la pantalla parpadea el

símbolo de advertencia de

batería baja. El dispositivo

todavía puede trabajar hasta

que se agote por completo la

vida de la batería.

Cuidado y Limpieza

El termómetro debe limpiarse entre usos, según sea necesario.

Use alcohol o un hisopo de algodón humedecido con alcohol (70% Isopropílico) para

limpiar la carcasa exterior del termómetro y el área del escáner de medición.

Asegúrese de que ningún líquido entre en el interior del termómetro. Nunca use para

limpiar agentes de limpieza abrasivos, disolventes o benceno y nunca sumerja el

dispositivo en agua u otros líquidos de limpieza. Espere 10 minutos después de la

limpieza antes de tomar una medida de temperatura. Asegúrese de volver a colocar

la tapa protectora después de su uso para evitar rasguños o daño al termómetro.

Nunca inserte un objeto punzante en el área del escáner o cualquier otra supercie

abierta en el termómetro.

Limpie el área del escáner antes de cada uso o según sea necesario.

Reemplazar las baterías

El termómetro de frente Sin Contacto Sensian™ de Braun vienen con 2 baterías AAA.

Reemplace con 2 baterías AAA nuevas cuando aparezca parpadeando el símbolo de

batería en la pantalla LCD. Para cambiar las baterías, deslice la tapa de las baterías y

retírelas. Reemplace las baterías asegurándose de alienar correctamente como se

indica en el interior del compartimiento. Si no se usa por largos períodos de tiempo,

retire las baterías del producto para evitar daños en el termómetro resultantes de

una batería derramada.

Para proteger el medio ambiente, deseche el producto y las baterías

usadas en sitios de recolección adecuados según las regulaciones

nacionales o locales.

No mezcle pilas alcalinas, estándar o recargables.
