Getting ready
Location
Sinceaturntableandthesoundofarecordareeasilyaectedbyvibration,youshouldplacetheunitonalevelsurface
that is extremely stable.
Placetheturntablesucientlyfarfromyourspeakersystemsothatitwillnotbeaectedbysoundpressureorvibration.
CAUTION
Ifyouneedtoliftorrelocatetheunit,makesurethattwoormorepeoplewilldoso.

Do not attempt to rotate the feet. Otherwise, they might be damaged.

Install the sub platter onto the center
spindle.
NOTICE
Do not apply force to the center spindle when
you install the sub platter onto the center
spindle. Otherwise, the center spindle might
be damaged.

Install the belt around the sub platter
and pulley.
Makesurethatthebeltisnottwisted.
Rotatethesubplatterclockwisetoensurethatthe
belt will be well seated.

Screw the handles into the platter,
and then lift the platter by holding the
handles.
CAUTION
Takecarenottodroptheplatter.Droppingit
mightcauseinjury,ordamagetheunit.

Install the platter onto the center
spindle.
Removethehandlesfromtheplatter.

Place the turntable mat on the platter.
Note
• You can use the rubber or felt turntable mat.
• The side of the rubber turntable mat with a dent
in the center should face upward.

Attach the dial cover to the PITCH
ADJUST.

Attach the counter weight to the
tonearm.
Withthemarkingsonthecounterweightfacing
you,slideitontothebackendofthetonearm.
Note
Depending on the weight of the cartridge, install
thelargeorsmallcounterweight.Forinformation
about acceptable cartridge weights for each
counterweight,refertothe“Specications”
section on page 28.

Installing a cartridge
Acartridgeisnotincludedwiththisproduct.Followthe
stepsbelowtoinstallacommercially-availablecartridge
into the head shell.

Refer to the instruction manual for the cartridge.

Adjusting the stylus pressure
Adjustthetonearmsothattheappropriatestyluspressure
will be applied to the record.

Remove the tonearm from the arm
rest and move it slightly towards the
record.

Takecarethatthestylusdoesnotcontactany

Turn the counter weight so that the
tonearm will be horizontal.

Adjusting the tonearm height
If the tonearm and the record are not in parallel when you
lowerthestylusontotherecord,youwillneedtoadjust
thetonearmheight.Followthestepsbelow:

Return the tonearm to the arm rest and
set it securely in position.

Use the hexagonal wrench to loosen
the VTA adjustment screw.

ThetonearmissecuredbytheVTA
adjustmentscrew.Beforelooseningthescrew,
gently support the entire tonearm with your
hand so that it will not fall.

Move the tonearm up and down to
adjust its height so that the tonearm
and record will be in parallel.

Use the hexagonal wrench to tighten
the VTA adjustment screw and secure
the tonearm.

Turning the power on
Press the POWER button on the top panel of the unit to turn on the power to the unit.

Playing a record
Starting the record
CAUTION
Ifyoustarttoplayarecordwithoutrstsuciently
loweringthevolumeofyouramplier,aloudsound
might occur when the tip of the stylus contacts the
record. This could in some cases cause hearing loss
andmightdamageyouramplierandspeakers,sobe
suretolowerthevolumeofyouramplierrst.

Place the record on the platter.
If you are playing a 45 rpm record, use the 45 rpm
adaptor.

Press the speed button repeatedly
to select the rotation speed that is
appropriate for the record.
The speed indicator for the selected speed will
light up.

Press the START/STOP button.
The platter starts to rotate.
Thespeedindicatorwillbeashinguntilthe
selected speed is reached.

Raise the lift lever.
5
Move the tonearm to the playback
position of the record.
6
Lower the lift lever.
The tonearm is lowered, and the record begins to
play.

Pausing the record
Ifyouraisetheliftlever,thetonearmriseandplayback
pauses.Whenyoulowertheliftlever,playbackresumes.

Raise the lift lever.

Checking the speed
Tocheckandadjustthespeed,followthestepsbelow.

Connect the strobe light to the STROBE
jack on the rear panel of the unit.

Place the stroboscopic disc on the
platter.
3
Press the speed button repeatedly to
select the rotation speed.
4
Press the START/STOP button.
The platter starts to rotate and the strobe light
turns on.
5
Shine the strobe light onto the
stroboscopic disc.
6
Use the PITCH ADJUST to adjust the
speed.
RotatethePITCHADJUSTinthe+or−direction
untiltherelevantherringboneringonthe
stroboscopic disc appears to be stationary.
Note
• YoucanusethePITCHADJUSTtoadjustthespeed
while the record is being played.
Foradjustmentstepsandrange,refertothe
“Specications”sectiononpage28.
• Theadjustedspeedwillberetainedafterthepowerto
theunitisturnedo.
• The stroboscopic disc and strobe light included in the
packageshouldbeusedonlyforthisunit.Whenyou
checkthespeed,usebothofthemtogether.
Care
Caring for this unit
Wipetheunitwithasoftdrycloth.Ifthenishofyour
unitispianoblack,werecommendusingacleaningcloth
made for pianos. Do not use chemicals such as benzine or
thinner, since they might damage the surface.
Caring for the record stylus
The tip of the record stylus is extremely delicate. Handle
it with care so that it is not damaged. If dust should
adhere to the tip of the stylus, use a soft pointed brush to
wipeitostartingatthebaseofthestylusandmoving
towardthetip,oruseacommercially-availablecleaner
made for that purpose.

Before you clean or perform maintenance on the unit or
stylus,besuretoturnothepowertotheunit.
Caring for records
Dirtadheringtoarecordcancauseskipsornoise.Usea
commercially-availablerecordcleanertoremovedirt.

Replacing the belt

Preparación
Ubicación
Debido a que el giradiscos y el sonido de un disco se ven afectados con facilidad por la vibración, debería colocar la
unidad en una supercie plana que sea extremadamente estable.
Coloque el giradiscos lo sucientemente lejos del sistema de altavoces para que no se vea afectado por la presión o
vibración acústica.
ATENCIÓN
Si necesita levantar o cambiar de ubicación la unidad, asegúrese de hacerlo entre dos o más personas.
AVISO
No intente girar las patas. De lo contrario, podrían resultar dañadas.

Instale la correa alrededor del subplato
y la polea.
Asegúrese de que la correa no se retuerza.
Gire el subplato hacia la derecha para garantizar
que la correa se asiente correctamente.

Enrosque los ganchos en el plato
y, a continuación, levante el plato
sujetando los ganchos.
ATENCIÓN
Evite dejar caer el plato. De lo contrario,
se pueden producir lesiones o daños en la
unidad.

Instale el plato sobre el eje central.
Retire los ganchos del plato.

Coloque el tapete de giradiscos sobre
el plato.

• Puede utilizar el tapete de giradiscos de goma o

• La cara del tapete de giradiscos de goma con

Acople la cubierta de selector sobre el
elemento PITCH ADJUST.

Acople el contrapeso al brazo
fonocaptor.
Con las marcas del contrapeso orientadas hacia
usted, deslícelo sobre el extremo trasero del brazo
fonocaptor.
Nota
En función del peso del cartucho, instale el
contrapeso grande o pequeño. Para obtener
información sobre los pesos de cartucho
aceptables para cada contrapeso, consulte la
sección “Especicaciones” en la página 52.

Este producto no incluye un cartucho. Siga los pasos

Ajustes
Ajuste de la presión de aguja
Ajuste el brazo fonocaptor de modo que se aplique al
disco la presión de aguja adecuada.

Retire el brazo fonocaptor del soporte
del brazo y muévalo ligeramente hacia
el disco.

Evite que la aguja entre en contacto con
cualquier parte de la unidad.

Gire el contrapeso de modo que el
brazo fonocaptor quede horizontal.

Ajuste de la altura del brazo
fonocaptor
Si el brazo fonocaptor y el disco no están paralelos al
bajar la aguja sobre el disco, deberá ajustar la altura del
brazo fonocaptor. Siga los pasos siguientes:
1
Vuelva a colocar el brazo fonocaptor
en el soporte del brazo y fíjelo en
posición.
2
Utilice la llave hexagonal para aojar el
tornillo de ajuste de VTA.

AVISO
El brazo fonocaptor está jado mediante el
tornillo de ajuste de VTA. Antes de aojar
el tornillo, sostenga con cuidado el brazo
fonocaptor completo con la mano para evitar
que se caiga.

Mueva el brazo fonocaptor hacia arriba
y hacia abajo para ajustar su altura
de modo que el brazo y el disco estén
paralelos.

Utilice la llave hexagonal para apretar
el tornillo de ajuste de VTA y jar el
brazo fonocaptor.

Pulse el botón POWER en el panel superior de la unidad para encender la alimentación.

Reproducción de un disco
Puesta en marcha del disco
ATENCIÓN
Si empieza a reproducir un disco sin bajar primero
lo suciente el volumen de su amplicador, se
puede producir un sonido fuerte cuando la punta de
la aguja entre en contacto con el disco. Esto podría
en algunos casos provocar pérdida de audición y
dañar el amplicador y los altavoces, por lo que
debe asegurarse de bajar el volumen del amplicador
primero.

Coloque el disco sobre el plato.
Si reproduce un disco de 45 rpm, utilice el
adaptador de 45 rpm.

Pulse el botón de velocidad varias
veces para seleccionar la velocidad
de rotación que sea adecuada para el
disco.
El indicador de velocidad seleccionada se
iluminará.
3
Pulse el botón START/STOP.
El plato empieza a girar.
El indicador de velocidad parpadeará hasta que se
alcance la velocidad seleccionada.

Levante la palanca elevadora.
5
Mueva el brazo fonocaptor a la
posición de reproducción del disco.
6
Baje la palanca elevadora.
El brazo fonocaptor baja y comienza la
reproducción del disco.

Pausa del disco
Si levanta la palanca elevadora, el brazo fonocaptor se
eleva y la reproducción se pone en pausa. Al bajar la
palanca elevadora, la reproducción se reanuda.
Detención del disco

Levante la palanca elevadora.

Vuelva a colocar el brazo fonocaptor en
el soporte del brazo.

Baje la palanca elevadora.
4
Pulse el botón START/STOP.
El plato deja de girar.
Nota
El brazo fonocaptor no se eleva automáticamente cuando
el disco termina de reproducirse.

En caso necesario
Comprobación de la
velocidad
Para comprobar y ajustar la velocidad, siga los pasos
siguientes.
1
Conecte la luz estroboscópica a la toma
STROBE del panel trasero de la unidad.
2
Coloque el disco estroboscópico sobre
el plato.
3
Pulse el botón de velocidad varias
veces para seleccionar la velocidad de
rotación.
4
Pulse el botón START/STOP.
El plato empieza a girar y la luz estroboscópica se
enciende.
5
Enfoque la luz estroboscópica sobre el
disco estroboscópico.
6
Utilice el elemento PITCH ADJUST para
ajustar la velocidad.
Gire el elemento PITCH ADJUST en la dirección
+ o − hasta que el anillo en espiga relevante del
disco estroboscópico parezca estar estático.
Nota
• Puede utilizar el elemento PITCH ADJUST para ajustar
la velocidad mientras se reproduce el disco.
Para ver los pasos y el rango de ajuste, consulte la
sección “Especicaciones” en la página 52.
• La velocidad ajustada se mantendrá cuando se apague
la unidad.
• El disco estroboscópico y la luz estroboscópica
incluidos en el paquete solo se deben utilizar con esta
unidad. Al comprobar la velocidad, utilice ambos
juntos.
Cuidados
Mantenimiento de esta unidad
Limpie la unidad con un paño suave y seco. Si el acabado
de la unidad es Piano Black, se recomienda utilizar
un paño de limpieza especíco para pianos. No utilice
productos químicos como bencina o disolventes, ya que
podrían dañar la supercie.
Mantenimiento de la aguja para disco
La punta de la aguja para disco es extremadamente
delicada. Debe manipularla con cuidado para evitar
dañarla. Si se adhiere polvo a la punta de la aguja, utilice
un cepillo de punta suave para limpiarla empezando por
la base de la aguja y avanzando hacia la punta, o bien
utilice un limpiador disponible en tiendas destinado a este
n.
Nota
Antes de limpiar o realizar el mantenimiento de la unidad
o la aguja, asegúrese de apagar la unidad.
Mantenimiento de los discos
Si se adhiere suciedad a un disco puede provocar saltos
o ruido. Utilice un limpiador de discos disponible en
tiendas para eliminar la suciedad.

Sustitución de la correa
En determinadas circunstancias, la correa puede
desgastarse o romperse. En tal caso, sustituya la correa.
Para obtener una correa de repuesto, póngase en
contacto con su centro Yamaha de atención al cliente o
concesionario autorizado más cercano.
Nota
Antes de sustituir la correa, apague la alimentación de
la unidad y los dispositivos conectados, y desconecte el
cable de alimentación de la unidad de la toma de CA.

Resolución de problemas
Si la unidad deja de funcionar correctamente, compruebe los siguientes puntos.
Si al realizar la acción correspondiente no se soluciona el problema, o si encuentra un problema que no aparece en esta
lista, pulse el botón POWER situado en el panel superior de la unidad para apagar la alimentación. Luego desconecte el
cable de alimentación y póngase en contacto con su centro Yamaha de atención al cliente o concesionario autorizado más
cercano.
