Any multimeter claimed to be defective during the warranty period should be returned with proof of purchase to an authorized Wavetek Meterman Service Center or to the local Wavetek Meterman dealer or distributor where your multimeter was purchased. Any implied warranties arising out of the sale of a Wavetek Meterman multimeter, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the above stated one (1) year period. It is recommended for use with local level power distribution, appliances, portable equipment, etc, where only smaller transient overvoltages may occur, and not for primary supply lines, overhead lines and cable systems. ■ Do not exceed the maximum overload limits per function (see specifications) nor the limits marked on the instrument itself. ■ Exercise extreme caution when: measuring voltage >20V // current >10mA // AC power line with inductive loads // AC power line during electrical storms // current, when the fuse blows in a circuit with open circuit voltage >600 V // servicing CRT equipment. ■ Inspect DMM, test leads and accessories before every use. E • Familiarización con el instrumento: 1) Pinza del transformador: Diseñada para captar la corriente alterna que fluye por el hilo. 2) Palanca de apertura de la pinza: Presione sobre esta palanca para abrir la pinza del transformador. La pinza se cierra de nuevo al liberar la presión. 3) Pantalla digital: visualizador LCD de 3 1/2 dígitos (lectura máxima 1999), punto decimal, indicadores de AC~ y unidades. 4) Selector de función: Selecciona entre ACV, ACA o continuidad ( ). 5) Tecla de retención de datos: (HOLD) Congela la lectura en todas las funciones y escalas. Libere siempre HOLD antes de tomar una nueva medida. 6) Muñequera: Evita que el instrumento se caiga de las manos mientras se está usando. 2) Terminales de entrada: La punta de prueba negra se conecta siempre a la entrada “COM”, y la roja a la entrada “+“, para medir ACV y continuidad. La pince ferme quand la pression est relachée. 3) Affichage Digital: LCD 3 1/2 digits (1999 points), point décimal, AC~ (ca) et annonciateurs d’unités. 4) Sélecteur: Sélectionne Vca, Aca, ou continuité ( ). 5) Bouton Data Hold: Maintient la lecture pour toutes fonctions et gammes. Désactivez HOLD pour prendre de nouvelles mesures. 6) Boucle: Maintient l’appareil pendant la mesure. 7) Entrées: Pour les mesures de tension alternative et de continuité, connectez toujours le cordon de mesure noir à l’entrée COM, et le rouge à l’entrée “+”. MEASURING PROCEDURES AC Current Measurement ∂ Set the slide switch to A~ position. ∑ Open spring-loaded clamp by pressing lever on left side of meter. ∏ Position clamp around wire or conductor and release clamp lever. Make sure that the clamp is entirely closed. The clamp must be positioned around only one conductor. If it is placed around two or more current carrying conductors, the reading is FALSE. π Read the measured value on the display. AC Voltage Measurement ❶ Set the slide switch to V~ position. ❷Connect black test lead to the “COM” terminal and the red test lead to the “+’’ terminal. Connect probe tips to circuit and read value. – 6 – AC38.Man.08.00 9/11/00 8:28 PM Page 10 Continuity Measurement ❶ Set the slide switch to position. ❷ Connect black lead to COM terminal and red lead to “+” terminal. ❸ Make sure that power to circuit under test is off. Connect test leads to circuit. ❹ Buzzer sounds if resistance is less than 300Ω. Data Hold When measuring in tight locations or dimly lit areas, you can push the Data Hold button to “freeze” the measurement reading for later viewing. Don’t forget to press the button again in order to release Data Hold when taking a new measurement. D • Meßvorgänge Wechselstrommessung ❶ Wahlschalter auf A~ stellen. ❷ Zange durch Drücken des Hebels öffnen. ❸ Zange um Stromleiter bringen und schließen (durch Loslassen des Hebels). Stellen Sie sicher daß nur ein Kabel in der Zange ist und daß die Zange gut geschlossen ist. Bei mehreren Kabeln in der Zange währe die Messung falsch. π Meßwert ablesen. Wechselspannungsmessung ❶ Wahlschalter auf V~ stellen. ❷ Schwarzes Meßkabel mit COM und rotes mit “+” verbinden. Meßspitzen mit Schaltkreis verbinden (parallel mit Spannungsquelle) und Meßwert ablesen. Durchgangsmessung ❶ Wahlschalter auf stellen. ❷ Schwarzes Meßkabel mit COM und rotes mit “+” verbinden. ❸ Strom vom Meßkreis abschalten und Meßkabel verbinden. ❹ Akustisches Signal wenn Widerstand <300Ω. Meßwertspeicher (Data Hold) Beim Messen in engen Räumen oder bei unzureichender Beleuchtung erlaubt die “Data Hold” Taste den Meßwert für spätere Ablesung festzuhalten. Data Hold Taste erneut drücken (lösen) um eine neue Messung vorzunehmen. E • Procedimientos de Medida Medida de Corriente CA ❶ Ponga el conmutador deslizante en la posición A~. ❷ Abra la pinza de resorte, presionando sobre la palanca situada en el lado izquierdo del medidor. ❸ Rodee el hilo o el conductor con la pinza y suelte la palanca para cerrarla. Asegúrese de que la pinza queda completamente cerrada. La pinza debe rodear un solo conductor. Si se coloca rodeando dos o más conductores con corriente, la medida será FALSA. ❹ Lea el valor de la medida. Medida de Tensión CA ❶ Ponga el conmutador deslizante en la posición V~. ❷ Conecte la punta de prueba negra al terminal “COM” y la roja al terminal “+“. Conecte las puntas de prueba al circuito. ❹ El zumbador suena si la resistencia es menor de 300 Ω. Data Hold Cuando se está midiendo en áreas de difícil acceso o mal iluminadas, el botón Data Hold permite ”congelar” la lectura obtenida para visualizarla posteriormente. Libere siempre HOLD antes de tomar una nueva medida. F • Procédures de Mesure Mesure de Courant Alternatif ❶ Placez le sélecteur sur A~. ❷ Ouvrez la pince en poussant sur le levier. ❸ Placez la pince autour du conducteur et fermez la (en relachant le levier). Assurez-vous que la pince est complètement fermée et qu’elle ne contient qu’un conducteur. Si elle en contient plusieurs, la mesure est faussée. ❹ Lisez la valeur sur l’afficheur. Mesure de Tension Alernative ❶ Placez le sélecteur sur V~. ❷ Connectez le cordon noir à l’entrée COM et le rouge à l’entrée “+”. Connectez les pointes de touche au circuit (en parallèle avec la source de tension) et lisez la valeur. Mesure de Conituité ❶ Placez le sélecteur sur . ❷ Connectez le cordon noir à l’entrée COM et le rouge à l’entrée “+”. ❸ Coupez l’alimentation du circuit à mesurer, connectez les pointes de touche au circuit. ❹ Le signal sonore retentit avec R <300Ω. Maintien d’affichage (Data Hold) Quand vous mesurez dans des endroits restreints, ou avec un éclairage insuffisant, la touche “Data Hold” vous permet de maintenir la valeur sur l’afficheur pour une lecture ultérieure. D • Fehlersuche/Reparatur Bei Problemen bitte folgendes prüfen: ❶ Batterieladung, ❷ Meßprozedur ❸ Einen bekannten Stromwert mit der Zange prüfen.❹ Meßkabel prüfen (Spannungs-und Durchgangsmessung). Mit Ausnahme des Batteriewechsels sollte jede Reparatur der Stromzange nur durch eine Wavetek-anerkannte Servicestelle vorgenommen werden. Das Gehäuse kann mit einer milden Seifenlösung gereinigt werden. Vor Gebrauch gut trocknen lassen. E • Reparación y Mantenimiento Si observa alguna anomalía en el medidor, haga lo siguiente para identificar la causa del problema: ❶ Compruebe la pila. ❷ Repase las instrucciones de manejo por si hubiera cometido algún error. ❸ Aplique la pinza a una corriente de valor conocido. Compruebe la continuidad de las puntas de prueba (tensión y continuidad). Excepto la sustitución de la pila, cualquier otro trabajo de reparación debe realizarse en un Centro de Servicio autorizado o por personas cualificadas para la reparación de este tipo de instrumentos. Para limpiar el panel frontal y la carcasa puede utilizar una solución suave de detergente y agua. Aplíquela en poca cantidad con un paño suave y deje que se seque bien antes de utilizar el medidor. F • Dépannage/Réparation En cas de problèmes: ❶ Vérifiez le chargement de la pile. ❷ Vérifiez le mode d’emploi. ❸ Mesurez une valeur de courant connue. ❹ Vérifiez les câbles de mesure (tension et continuité). A part le remplacement de la pile, toute réparation ne doit être effectuée que par un centre de services agréé par Wavetek. Le boîtier peut être nettoyé avec une savonnée douce. Laissez secher complètement avant utilisation. Battery Replacement – 13 – AC38.Man.08.00 9/11/00 8:28 PM Page 17 The meter is powered by a two 1.5V button batteries (LR44). ❶ Turn meter off. Disconnect and remove the test leads. ❷ Position the meter face down. Remove battery door. ❸ Replace batteries; note polarity. ❹ Replace door. D • Batteriewechsel Das Gerät wird durch zwei 1.5V Knopfbatterien (LR44) betrieben. ❶ Gerät abschalten und Meßkabel entfernen. ❷ Gerätevorderseite nach unten legen. Deckel des Batteriefachs abheben. ❸ Batterien ersetzen (Polarität beachten). ❹ Deckel anbringen. E • Sustitución de la Pila El medidor se alimenta con dos pilas de botón de 1.5 V (LR44). ❶ Apague el medidor. Desconecte y retire las puntas de prueba. ❷ Ponga el medidor boca abajo. Quite la tapa de las pilas. ❸ Cambie las pilas observando la polaridad. ❹ Vuelva a poner la tapa. Enlevez le couvercle du compartiment des piles. ❸ Remplacez les piles (notez la polarité). ❹ Replacez le couvercle. All multimeters returned for warranty or non-warranty repair or for calibration should be accompanied by the following information or items: company name, customer’s name, address, telephone number, proof of purchase (warranty repairs), a brief description of the problem or the service requested, and the appropriate service charge (for nonwarranty repairs). Please include the test leads with the meter. Service charges should be remitted in the form of a check, a money order, credit card with expiration date, or a purchase order made payable to Wavetek Meterman or to the specific service center.
