Es muy importante conservar este libro de instrucciones junto al aparato por si fuera necesario con-
sultarlo. Si el aparato se vendiese o transfiriese a otra persona, acuŽrdese de entregarlo junto con Žl
para que el nuevo propietario conozca el funcionamiento de la m‡quina y sus advertencias.
En caso de que este aparato, dotado de cierre magnŽtico, sustituya uno con cierre autom‡tico, acon-
sejamos que la cerradura de este œltimo quede inservible, antes de deshacerse de Žl. As’ se evitar‡
que los ni–os, jugando, puedan quedarse encerrados dentro, con grave peligro de sus vidas.
Estas advertencias han sido redactadas para su seguridad y para la seguridad de los dem‡s. Le rog-
amos, por lo tanto, leerlas atentamente antes de instalar y utilizar el aparato.
Seguridad
¥ Desenchufar el aparato antes de efectuar
cualquier operaci—n de limpieza y mantenimiento
(como la sustituci—n de la bombilla de ilumi-
naci—n en los aparatos que la poseen).
¥ Este aparato ha sido proyectado para ser usado
por adultos. Por lo tanto, tener cuidado que los
ni–os no se acerquen para jugar con Žl.
¥ Es peligroso modificar o intentar modificar las
caracter’sticas de este aparato.
¥ Quitar siempre el enchufe de la toma de corriente
antes de efectuar cualquier operaci—n de limpieza o
manutenci—n (como la substituci—n de la bombilla en
aquellos aparatos que la tienen).
¥ No consumir nunca los cubitos de hielo reciŽn
sacados del congelador ya que podr’an provocar
quemaduras.
¥ Estos aparatos son pesados. Tener cuidado en
los desplazamientos.
¥ Este aparato contiene hidrocarburos en el cir-
cuito refrigerante; por lo tanto el mantenimiento y
la recarga deben ser efetuados exclusivamente
por personal autorizado de la empresa.
¥ Este aparato no contiene en el circuito refrig-
erante y en el aislamiento, gases refriger-
antes nocivos para el ozono. El aparato no
debe ser eliminado junto con los deshechos
urbanos y chatarras. Se debe evitar el da–o
del circiuto refrigerante, sobre todo en la
parte posterior cerca del intercambiador.
Las informaciones sobre los centros de
recepci—n son suministradas por las autori-
dades municipales.
¥ Prestar la m‡xima atenci—n durante las
operaciones de desplazamiento para no
da–ar las partes del circuito refrigerante a fin
de evitar las posibles salidas de l’quido.
¥ El aparato no debe ser colocado cerca de ter-
mosifones o cocinas a gas.
¥ Evitar la exposici—n prolongada del aparato a
los rayos solares.
¥ La parte posterior del aparato debe recibir
una circulaci—n de aire suficiente y se debe
evitar cualquier da–o al circuito refrigerante.
¥ Solamente para los congeladores (excluidos
los empotrados): su mejor ubicaci—n es el
s—tano.
Asistencia
¥ Cualquier modificaci—n que eventualmente fuese
necesaria a la instalaci—n elŽctrica domŽstica
para poder instalar el aparato tiene que ser real-
izada s—lo por personal competente.
¥ Para eventuales intervenciones dirigirse a un
Centro de Asistencia TŽcnica autorizado y exigir
las piezas de repuesto originales.
¥ En caso de necesitar reparaciones no intentar
hacerlas personalmente. Las reparaciones efec-
tuadas por personas no competentes pueden
provocar da–os. Ponerse en contacto con el
Centro de Asistencia m‡s cercano y emplear
s—lo repuestos originales.
Uso
¥ Los frigor’ficos y/o congeladores domŽsticos
est‡n destinados s—lo a la conservaci—n y/o con-
gelaci—n de alimentos.
¥ Las mejores prestaciones se obtienen con tem-
peraturas ambiente comprendidas entre +18¡C y
+43¡C (Clase T); +18¡C y +38¡C (Clase ST);
+16¡C y +32¡C (Clase N); +10¡C y +32¡C (Clase
SN); la clase de pertenencia est‡ indicada en la
placa matr’cula situada en la c‡mara al lado del
caj—n verduras.
Atenci—n: en caso de temperaturas ambiente
diferentes de las indicadas para la clase clim‡ti-
ca a la cual pertenece este producto, es preciso
observar las indicaciones siguientes: cuando la
temperatura ambiente desciende por debajo del
valor m’nimo puede suceder que la temperatura
de conservaci—n en el vano congelador no estŽ
garantizada; por lo tanto, se aconseja que se
consuman a lo m‡s pronto los alimentos pre-
sentes en su interior.

Importante: en caso de que el cable de
alimentaci—n se da–e, deber‡ ser sustituido con
un cable especial. Ambos cables pueden ser
solicitados al fabricante o al Servicio de
asistencia.
¥ Si el aparato es transportado en forma horizontal
es posible que el aceite contenido en el
compresor pase al circuito refrigerante. Esperar
por lo menos dos horas antes de poner en
marcha el aparato para dar tiempo a que el
aceite regrese al compresor.
Protecci—n del
ambiente
Este aparato no contiene en el circuito refrige-
rante y en el aislamiento, gases refrigerantes
nocivos para el ozono. El aparato no debe ser
eliminado junto con los deshechos urbanos y
chatarras. Se debe evitar el dano del circinto
refrigerante, sobre todo en la parte posterior
cerca del intercambiador. Las informaciones
sobre los centros de recepci›n son
suministradas por las autoridades municipales;
Los materiales usados en este aparato marcados
con el simbolo son reciclables.
¥ Los productos que hayan sido descongelados no
se tienen que volver a congelar
¥ Seguir atentamente las indicaciones del
fabricante para la conservaci—n y/o congelaci—n
de los alimentos.
¥ En todos los aparatos de refrigeraci—n y congelaci—n
existen superficies que se cubren con escarcha.
Segœn el modelo, la escarcha puede ser eliminada
autom‡ticamente (desescarche autom‡tico) o
manualmente. No intentar nunca quitar la escarcha
con un objeto puntiagudo ya que se podr’a da–ar
irremediablemente el evaporador. Utilizar para ello
s—lo el rascador de pl‡stico que se suministra con el
aparato. Por el mismo motivo no despegar nunca las
cubetas del hielo con un cuchillo o cualquier otro
objeto puntiagudo.
¥ No colocar en el compartimiento de la baja
temperatura (congelador o conservador) bebidas
gaseosas que podr’an explotar.
Instalaci—n
¥ El aparato se calienta considerablemente en la
proximidad del condensador y del compresor, por lo
tanto hay que verificar que el aire pueda circular
libremente alrededor del mismo. Una ventilaci—n
insuficiente puede causar un mal funcionamiento y
da–os al aparato. Seguir cuidadosamente las
instrucciones que se dan para la instalaci—n.
Por motivos de seguridad la ventilaci—n debe ser
efectuada como se indica en la respectiva figura.
Atenci—n: mantener las aperturas para la
ventilaci—n libres de cualquier obst‡culo.
¥ Una vez instalado el aparato verificar que no estŽ
apoyado sobre el cable de alimentaci—n.

Refrigerac’on de alimentos y bebidas
Para utilizar de la mejor manera el compartimiento
refrigerante, es necesario:
¥ no introducir comidas calientes o l’quidos en en
evaporac’on;
¥ tapar o envolver los alimentos, especialmente si
son arom‡ticos;
¥ no colocar sobre las rejillas papeles, cartones o
pl‡sticos que obstaculicen la circulac’on del aire.
Limpieza de las partes internas
Antes del empleo limpiar todas las partes internas
con agua tibia y jab—n neutro, a fin de eliminar el
caracter’stico olor de nuevo y secarlas luego
cuidadosamente.
No emplear detergentes o polvos
abrasivos que podr’an da–ar las
superficies.
USO
Puesta en marcha
Introducir el enchufe en la toma de corriente. Abrir la
puerta del refrigerador y girar el mando del
termostato, en sentido horario hasta una posici—n
distinta de la posici—n ÇOÈ (parada). El aparato se
pone en marcha.
El funcionamiento del aparato se interrumpe al girar
el mando en la posic’on ÇOÈ.
Regulaci—n de la temperatura
La temperatura se regula automatic‡mente y puede
ser aumentada (menos fr’o) girando el mando hacia
los nœmeros m‡s bajos o bien se puede disminuir
(m‡s fr’o) gir‡ndolo hacia los nœmeros m‡s altos.De
todos modos, la colocaci—n del mando se determina
teniendo en cuenta que la temperatura interna
depende:
¥ de la temperatura ambiente;
¥ de la frecuencia de aperatura de la puerta;
¥ de la cantidad de alimentos conservados;
¥ de la colocaci—n del aparato.
La posici—n intermedia es generalmente la m‡s
indicada.
Importante:
En las posiciones de m‡ximo fr’o, con
temperatura ambiente elevada, el
funcionamiento puede ser continuo, con
consiguiente formaci—n de escarcha en la parte
posterior del compartimiento; en tal caso es
necesario girar el mando a una posici—n de
menor fr’o, a fin de consentir la eliminac’on
autom‡tica de la escarcha y, como
consecuencia, obtener un consumo menor de
energ’a elŽctrica.

After having reversed the opening direction of
the doors check that all the screws are properly
tightened and that the magnetic seal adheres to
the cabinet. If the ambient temperature is cold
(i.e. in Winter), the gasket may not fit perfectly to
the cabinet. In that case, wait for the natural
fitting of the gasket or accelerate this process by
heating up the part involved with a normal
hairdrier.

Fasten the appliance with the four provided screws.

Producci—n de cubitos de hielo
El congelador lleva una cubeta para la producci—n
de hielo suficientes para les necesidades familiares.
Llene esta cubeta con agua inasta les 3/4 partes y
col—quela en los compartimientos de congelaci—n
r‡pida. Si el agua que hay en su zona tiene muchas
sales minerales (especialmente caliza), se aconseja
utilizar agua mineral sin gas para la producci—n de
los cubitos de hielo. Los cubitos de hielo pueden
sacarse f‡cilmente de la cubeta con una ligera
torsi—n. No utilice nunca instrumentos met‡licos
para despegar les cubetas del congelador.
Congelaci—n de los alimentos
frescos
El compartimento est‡ previsto para la
conservaci—n durante largo tiempo de alimentos
congelados y para la congelaci—n de alimentos
frescos. El poder de congelaci—n es indicada en la
Tarjeta Matr’cula.
Para la congelaci—n de los alimentos no es
necesario variar la posici—n del mando del
termostato respecto a la que tiene habitualmente en
el funcionamiento normal. Sin embargo, si se quiere
obtener una congelaci—n m‡s r‡pida de los
alimentos, girar el mando del termostato hacia la
posici—n de fr’o m‡ximo. Con el mando en dicha
posici—n, la temperatura del compartimento
refrigerante puede descender por debajo de 0¡C. Si
ocurriere esso, volver a poner el mando del
term—stato a una posici—n que permita una
temperatura menos baja en el frigor’fico.
Conservaci—n de los alimentos
congelados
Cuando se enciende el congelador por primera vez,
o despuŽs de un per’odo largo de inactividad, poner
el mando termostato en la posici—n de m‡s fr’o, y
esperar unas dos horas antes de introducir los
alimentos por conservar, luego girar el mando en la
posici—n de funcinamento normal.
Importante
Si en caso de descongelaci—n accidental, por
ejemplo cuando falta la corriente, el per’odo de
interrupci—n supera el valor indicado en la tabla
de los datos tŽcnicos, bajo el concepto Òtiempo
de aumentoÓ ser‡ necesario consumir los
alimentos en breve tiempo o cocinarlos
inmediatamente y despuŽs volver a congelarlos
(cuando se habr‡n enfriado.
Descongelaci—n de los alimentos
congelados
Antes de utilizar los alimentos congelados, se
pueden descongelar en el frigor’fico (carne,
pescado, etc.) o a temperatura ambiente (los otros
alimentos), depende del tiempo disponibile para la
operaci—n. Los alimentos congelados
confeccionados en porciones poque–as o
separadas pueden cocinarse directamente sin tener
que descongelarlos; en este caso, naturalmente, el
tiempo de cocci—n necesario ser‡ algo m‡s largo
que el habitual.

Ubicaci—n estantes de la
contrapuerta
Para permitir el almacenamiento de alimentos de
varias dimensiones, se pueden colocar les repisas a
diferentes alturas. Procedan de esta manera:
Empujen la repisa en el sentido de la flecha inasta
cuando no estŽ libre y volverla a colocar a la altura
deseada.
Los s’mbolos indican diferentes tipos de productos congelados.
Las cifras indican el tiempo de conservaci—n en meses para cada tipo de producto congelado. La validez del
valor m‡ximo o m’nimo establecido del tiempo de conservaci—n de los productos congelados depende de la
calidad y de la preparaci—n de ellos antes de ser congelados. El valor m’nimo corresponde a v’veres con un
elevado porcentaje de grasa.

gu’as que consienten poner las rejillas a distintas
alturas.

Fitting door panels
The door panel size must be 1-2mm less than that
of the door and the maximum thickness must be
4mm.
With the refrigerator door closed, loosen the screws
from the removable side of the frame and remove
the frame. Loosen the remaining screws.
Slide in the door panel and push it completely in.
Refit the frame and tighten all the screws.
Door reversibility
The appliance is supplied with the right or the
left door opening. To change the opening
direction of the door proceed as in the following
instructions before installing it.
Right hand door opening
1. Remove the pin (1 ), the pivot (2) from the
appliance.

Left hand door opening
1. Remove the right and left pins (1) and pivots (2).
2. Remove the upper door. Unscrew the middle
hinge and the small hole plugs, and screw them
in on the opposite side.
3. Straighten the safety washer (4) of the lower right
hinge. Remove the pin (5) and the pivot (6).
Insert the washer (contained in the
documentation pack) under the left hinge and
use a hand tool (e.g. a screwdriver) to bend it.
Remove the hinge top on the right and screw it in
on the opposite side.

CONSEJOS
Consejos para refrigeraci—n
Para un correcto uso aconsejamos:
Carne: debe ser envuelta en saquitos de pl‡stico y
colocada en el espacio situado sobre los cajones
verdura.
En esta posic’on la carne puede ser conservada
al m‡ximo por 1 a 2 dias.
Alimentos cocinados , platos fr’os, etc. tienen
que conservarse bien cubiertos y se pueden colocar
en cualquier bandeja del frigor’fico.
Fruta y verdura: una vez lavada, ha de colocarse
en el caj—n (cajones) inferior.
Mantequilla y queso: deben colocarse en los reci-
pientes adecuados o envueltos en hojas de
aluminio o politileno, a fin de evitar el contacto con
el aire.
Leche embotellada: bien tapada, en la contropuerta.
Bananas, papas, cebollas y ajo, si no est‡n
confeccionados, no se deben colocar en
frigor’fico.
Consejos para congelaci—n
¥ Todos los productos por congelar tienen que ser
frescos y de buena calidad.
¥ Los alimentos por congelar tienen que estar
confeccionados en porciones suficientes al
consumo familiar, para que puedan utilizarse en
una sola vez.
¥ Las confecciones peque–as permiten una
congelaci—n m‡s r‡pida y uniforme. No hay que
olvidar que una vez descongelados, la calidad de
los alimentos se deteriora r‡pidamente.
¥ Los alimentos con bajo contenido de grasas se
conservan mejor que los que tienen mucha
grasa. La sal (alli donde se encuentre) reduce la
duraci—n de la conservaci—n.
¥ Los alimentos por congelar tienen que
encerrarse en bolsitas impermeables al aire o en
recipientes especiales. Cierre cuidadosamente
les bolsitas o los recipientes sacando todo el aire
de su interior.
¥ No meta nunca en el congelador botellas o latas
de bebidas gaseosas: podrian explotar.
¥ No introduzca nunca alimentos o liquidos
calientes. No llene demasiado les bolsitas o los
contenedores con tapa de los alimentos por
congelar.
¥ No consuma ciertos productos apenas sacados
del congelador (cubitos de hielo, etc.) porque la
temperatura muy baja podria causar
quemaduras.
¥ Ponga la fecha de congelacidn en cada bolsa o
contenedor para controlar los tiempos de
conservaci—n.
¥ No abra nunca la puerta del congelador ni
introduzca nuevos alimentos si est‡ en curve la
fase de congelaci—n r‡pida.
Consejos para conservaci—n de
alimentos congelados
¥ Controle siempre la fecha de preparaci—n
indicada sobre los alimentos congelados
comprados en las tiendas y respete los
vencimientos.
¥ No abra la puerta del congelador muy a menudo
y dŽjela abierta s—lo el tiempo indispensable. Los
aumentos innecesarios de temperatura reducen
considerablemente la duraci—n de conservaci—n
de los alimentos.
¥ Controle que todas les confecciones de
alimentos congelados estŽn intactas; de no
estarlo los alimentos podr’an estropearse. Si les
confecciones presentan signos de humedad o
est‡n hinchadas, quiere decir que los alimentos
no tran sido conservados correctamente y por lo
tanto el producto ha perdido parte de su calidad
de origen.
¥ Cuando se compran alimentos congelados, es
aconsejable llevar una bolsa termoaislante. Se
recomienda, asimismo adquirirlos al finalizar sus
compras.
¥ EnvuŽlvalos en papel de peri—dico y mŽtalos en
el congelador en cuanto llegue a su casa.
¥ Controle con atenci—n el producto al comprarlo
ya que los alimentos que se tran descongelado,
aun s—lo parcialmente, no tienen que volver a
congelarle sino que tran de ser consumidos
antes de transcurridas 24 horas.

Electrical connection
Before plugging in, ensure that the voltage and
frequency shown on the serial number plate
correspond to your domestic power supply. Voltage
can vary by ±6% of the rated voltage.
For operation with different voltages, a suitably sized
auto-transformer must be used.
The appliance must be earthed.
The power supply cable plug is provided with a
contact for this purpose.
If the domestic power supply socket is not earthed,
connect the appliance to a separate earth in
compliance with current regulations, consulting a
specialist technician.
The Manufacturer declines all responsibility if
the above safety precautions are not observed.
This appliance complies with the following
E.E.C. Directives:
- 87/308 EEC of 2/6/87 relative to radio interference
suppression.
- 73/23 EEC of 19.2.73 (Low Voltage Directive) and
subsequent modifications;
- 89/336 EEC of 3.5.89 (Electromagnetic
Compatibility Directive) and subsequent
modifications.
INSTALLATION
Location
The appliance should be installed well away from
sources of heat such as radiators, boilers, direct
sunlight etc.
For building into kitchen units follow the special Ò
Building-inÓ instructions given.
Attention
It must be possible to disconnect the appliance from
the mains power supply; the plug must therefore be
easily accessible after installation.

MANUTENCIîN
Desenchufar siempre el aparato antes de
proceder a cualquier operaci—n de
limpieza.
Este aparato contiene hidrocarburos en el circuito
refrigerante; por lo tanto el mantenimiento y la
recarga deben ser efectuados exclusivamente por
personal autorizado por la empresa.
Limpieza peri—dica
Limpiar el interior con agua templada y bicarbonato
y las partes exteriores esmaltadas con cera a la
silicona; limpiar el condensador y el motocompresor
con un cepillo o un aspirador.
Esta operaci—n mejorar‡ el funcionamiento con el
consiguiente ahorro de energia.
Temporadas largas de inactividad
Durante los per’odos en los cuales el aparato no
estŽ funcionando observar las siguientes
precauciones:
¥ desenchufarlo;
¥ sacar todos los alimentos;
¥ limpiar cuidadosamente el interior y todos los
accesorios.
¥ Dejar las puertas entornadas para facilitar la
circulaci—n del aire, a fin de evitar la formaci—n
de olores desagradables.
L‡mpara de iluminaci—n
Se puede acceder a la l‡mpara de iluminaci—n del
compartimento refrigerante efectuando las
siguientes operaciones:
¥ desatornillar el tornillo de fijaci—n del
cubrel‡mpara,
¥ desenganchar la parte m—vil como se indica en
la figura.
Si con la puerta abierta la luz no se
enciende, controlar que estŽ bien
enroscada; si el defecto no se corrige,
cambiar la bombilla con otra de igual
potencia.
La potencia m‡xima se indica en el difusor

Desescarche
La escarcha del evaporador de la cuba refrigerante
se elimina autom‡ticamente a cada interrupci—n del
motocompresor.
El agua de la escarcha derretida, mediante un canal
adecuado, se recoge en un peque–o dep—sito
colocado en la parte posterior sobre el motocom-
presor del aparato.
Se recomienda limpiar peri—dicamente el orificio de
desagŸe de la escarcha derretida, situado en la
parte central del adecuado canal›n de la cuba
refrigerante, para evitar que el agua desborde sobre
los alimentos conservados en el frigor’fico.
Utilice para ello el respectivo limpiador que se en-
cuentra introducido en el orifcio de desagŸe.
En el congelador en cambio, habr‡ que eliminar la
escarcha cada vez que se haya formado un gran
espesor (de unos 4 mm).
Durante esta operaci—n no es necesario ni
desenchufar el aparato ni sacar los alimentos
contenidos en la cuba.

However, when the ice becomes very thick on the
inner liner, complete defrosting should be carried out
as follows:
1. pull out the plug from the wall socket or turn the
thermostat knob to the ÇOÈ setting;
2. remove any stored food, wrap it in several layers
of newspaper and put it in a cool place;
3. leave the door open;
4. when defrosting is completed, dry the interior
thoroughly;
5. turn the thermostat knob back to the required
setting or replace the plug in the power socket.
After two or three hours, reload the previously
removed food into the compartment.
Important:
Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost
from the evaporator as you could damage it.
Do not use a maechanical device or any artificial
means to speed up the thawing process other
than those recommended by the manufacturer.
A temperature rise of the frozen food packs,
during defrosting, may shorten their safe
storage life.
CUSTOMER SERVICE AND SPARE PARTS
If the appliance is not functioning properly, check
that:
¥ the plug is firmly in the wall socket and the mains
power switch is on;
¥ there is an electricity supply (find out by plugging
in another appliance);
¥ the thermostat knob is in the correct position.
¥ If there are water drops on the bottom of the
cabinet, check that the defrost water drain
opening is not obstructed (see ÒDefrostingÓ
section).
¥ If your appliance is still not working properly after
making the above checks, contact the nearest
service centre.
To obtain fast service, it is essential that when you
apply for it you specify the model and serial number
of your appliance which can be found on the
guarantee certificate or on the rating plate located
inside the appliance, on the bottom left-hand side.

COMO ACTUAR SI EL APARATO NO FUNCIONA
Si el aparato presentase anomal’as ser‡ oportuno
controlar:
¥ Que estŽ bien enchufado y que el interruptor de
la instalaci—n elŽctrica estŽ conectado.
¥ Que no haya un corte de energ’a elŽctrica.
¥ Que el mando del termostato se encuentre en su
posici—n correcta.
¥ Si el compresor funciona sin interrupci—n,
verificar que el termostato no se encuentre en
una posici—n
¥ Adem‡s si el aparato hace demasiado ruido
verificar que los costados no estŽn en contacto
con muebles que pueden causar ruidos o
vibraciones y que la unidad refrigerante no vibre.
¥ Si se ven restos de agua en el fondo del
refrigerador comprobar que el orificio de
desagŸe de la escarcha derretida no estŽ
obturado (ver c‡pitulo Desescarche).
DespuŽs de hacer las verificaciones anteriores, si la
anomal’a persiste, llame al Centro de Asistencia
TŽcnica m‡s cercano.
Es importante en el momento de llamar
proporcionar la referencia del modelo y el
nœmero de matr’cula del aparato indicados en el
certificado de garant’a o en la tarjeta matr’cula.
Recomendamos no utilizar utensilios met‹licos
para quitar la escarcha a fin de evitar dahos
graves al aparato.
En el caso que se formara una espesa capa de
hielo, ser‡ necesario descongelar totalmente el
aparato, procediendo de la manera siguiente:
1. Colocar el mando del termostato en posici—n
Ç0È, o desenchufar el aparato.
2. Envolver los alimentos congelados en varios
papeles de diario y colocarlos en un lugar muy
fresco.
3. dejar la puerta abierta;
4. una vez terminado el desescarche secar
cuidadosamente el compartimento congelador;
5. girar el mando del termostato en la posici—n
deseada o volver a enchufar el aparato. DespuŽs
de dos o tres horas de funcionamiento el aparato
est‡ de nuevo listo para la conservaci—n de los
alimentos ultracongelados.
Importante
No utilice nunca cuchillos u objetos met‡licos para
quitar la escarcha acumulada. El aumento de
temperatura sobre la superficie de los alimentos
congelados puede disminuir la duraci—n de la
conservaci—n.

Interior light
The light bulb inside the refrigerator compartment
can be reached as follows:
- unscrew the light cover securing screw.
- unhook the moving part as shown in the figure.
If the light does not come on when the
door is open, check that it is screwed into
place properly. If it still does not light up,
change the bulb.
The rating is shown on the light bulb
cover.
Defrosting
Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator
of the refrigerator compartment every time the motor
compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost
water drains out through a trough into a special
container at the back of the appliance, over the
motor compressor, where it evaporates.
It is important to periodically clean the defrost
water drain hole in the middle of the refrigerator
compartment channel to prevent the water
overflowing and dripping onto the food inside.
Use the special cleaner provided, which you will
find already inserted into the drain hole.
The freezer compartment, however, will become
progressively covered with frost. This should be
removed with a plastic scraper, whenever the
thickness of the frost exceeds 4 mm. During this
operation it is not necessary to switch off the power
supply or to remove the foodstuffs.
Never use sharp metal tools to scrape off frost
from the evaporator as you could damage it.

MAINTENANCE
Unplug the appliance before carrying out
any maintenance operation.
Warning
This appliance contains hydrocarbons in its cooling
unit; maintenance and recharging must therefore
only be carried out by authorized technicians.
Periodic cleaning
Clean the inside with warm water and bicarbonate of
soda.
Rinse and dry thoroughly.
Clean the condenser (black grill) and the
compressor at the back of the appliance with a
brush or a vacuum cleaner. This operation will
improve the performance of the appliance and save
electricity consumption.
Periods of non-operation
When the appliance is not in use for long periods,
take the following precautions:
remove the plug from the wall socket;
remove all food;
defrost and clean the interior and all accessories;
leave the door ajar to allow air to circulate to prevent
unpleasant smells.

Hints for freezing
To help you make the most of the freezing process,
here are some important hints:
¥ the maximum quantity of food which can be
frozen in 24 hrs. is shown on the rating plate;
¥ the freezing process takes 24 hours. No further
food to be frozen should be added during this
period;
¥ only freeze top quality, fresh and thoroughly
cleaned, foodstuffs;
¥ prepare food in small portions to enable it to be
rapidly and completely frozen and to make it
possible subsequently to thaw only the quantity
required;
¥ wrap up the food in aluminium foil or polythene
and make sure that the packages are airtight;
¥ do not allow fresh, unfrozen food to touch food
which is already frozen, thus avoiding a rise in
temperature of the latter;
¥ lean foods store better and longer than fatty
ones; salt reduces the storage life of food;
¥ water ices, if consumed immediately after
removal from the freezer compartment, can
possibly cause the skin to be freeze burnt;
¥ it is advisable to show the freezing-in date on
each individual pack to enable you to keep tab of
the storage time;
HINTS
Hints for refrigeration
Useful hints:
Meat (all types): wrap in polythene bags and place
on the glass shelf above the vegetable drawer.
For safety, store in this way only one or two days
at the most.
Cooked foods, cold dishes, etc..: these should be
covered and may be placed on any shelf.
Fruit and vegetables: these should be thoroughly
cleaned and placed in the special drawer(s)
provided.
Butter and cheese: these should be placed in
special airtight containers or wrapped in aluminium
foil or polythene bags to exclude as much air as
possible.
Milk bottles: these should have a cap and should
be stored in the bottle rack on the door.
Bananas, potatoes, onions and garlic, if not
packed, must not be kept in the refrigerator.
Hints for storage of frozen food
To obtain the best performance from this appliance,
you should:
¥ make sure that the commercially frozen
foodstuffs were adequately stored by the retailer;
¥ be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferred
from the foodstore to the freezer in the shortest
possible time;
¥ not open the door frequently or leave it open
longer than absolutely necessary.
¥ Once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly and
cannot be refrozen.
¥ Do not exceed the storage period indicated by
the food manufacturer.
¥ do not put carbonated liquids (fizzy drinks,
etc.) in the freezer compartment as they may
burst.

Positioning the door shelves
To permit storage of food packages of various sizes,
the door shelves can be placed at different heights.
To make these adjustments proceed as follows:
Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows
until it comes free, then reposition as required.
Freezing Calendar
The symbols show different types of frozen goods.
The numbers indicate storage times in months for the appropriate types of frozen goods. Whether the upper or lower
value of the indicated storage time is valid depends on the quality of the foods and pre-treating before freezing.
Movable shelves
The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a
series of runners so that the shelves can be
positioned as desired.

Thawing
Deep-frozen or frozen food, prior to being used, can
be thawed in the refrigerator compartment or at
room temperature, depending on the time available
for this operation.
Small pieces may even be cooked still frozen,
directly from the freezer: in this case, cooking will
take longer.
Ice-cube production
This appliance is equipped with one or more trays
for the production of ice-cubes. Fill these trays with
water, then put them in the freezer compartment.
Do not use metallic instruments to remove the
trays from the freezer.
Storage of frozen food
When first starting-up or after a period out of use,
before putting the products in the compartment let
the appliance run for at least two hours on the
coldest setting, then turn the thermostat knob to the
normal operating position.
Important
In the event of accidental defrosting, for example
due to a power failure, if the power has been off
for longer that the value shown in the technical
characteristics chart under Òrising timeÓ, the
defrosted food must be consumed quickly or
cooked immediately and then refrozen (after
cooling).
Freezing fresh food
The 4-star compartment is suitable for
long term storage of commercially frozen food, and
for freezing fresh food.
To freeze fresh foods it is not necessary to change
the setting of the thermostat knob.
However, for a quicker freezing operation, turn the
thermostat knob to the coldest setting; but
remember that, in this condition, the refrigerator
compartment temeprature might drop below 0¡C.
If this occurs reset thermostat knob to a warmer
setting.
Important
Do not put carbonated liquids (fizzy drinks, etc.) in
the freezing compartment as they may burst.
Water ices, if consumed immediately after removal
from the freezing compartment, can possibly cause
the skin to be freeze burnt.
Remember that, once thawed, frozen food deterio-
rates rapidly.

Cleaning the interior
Before using the appliance for the first time, wash
the interior and all internal accessories with luke-
warm water and some neutral soap so as to remove
the typical smell of a brand-new product, then dry
thoroughly.
Do not use detergents or abrasive
powders, as these will damage the finish.
Operation
Insert the plug into the wall socket.
Open the refrigerator door and turn the thermostat
knob, clockwise, beyond the ÇOÈ (STOP) position.
The appliance will start to operate.
Temperature regulation
The temperature is automatically regulated and can
be increased to achieve a higher temperature
(warmer) by rotating the thermostat knob toward
lower settings or reduced (colder) rotating the knob
towards higher settings.
However, the exact setting should be chosen
keeping in mind that the temperature inside the
refrigerator depends on:
¥ room temperature;
¥ how often the door is opened;
¥ the quantity of food stored;
¥ location of appliance.
A medium setting is generally the most suitable.
Important
If the ambient temperature is high or the
appliance is fully loaded, and the appliance is
set to the lowest temperatures, it may run
continuously causing frost to form on the rear
wall. In this case the dial must be set to a higher
temperature to allow automatic defrosting and
therefore reduced energy consumption.
USE
Fresh food refrigeration
To obtain the best performance:
¥ do not store warm food or evaporating liquids in
the refrigerator;
¥ do cover or wrap the food, particularly if it has a
strong flavour.
¥ Position food so that air can circulate freely round
it.

Use

(class N); +10¡C and +32¡C (class SN). The
class of your appliance is shown on its rating
plate.
Warning: when the ambient temperature is not
included within the range indicated for the class
of this appliance, the following instructions must
be observed: when the ambient temperature
drops below the minimum level, the storage
temperature in the freezer compartment cannot
be guaranteed; therefore it is advisable to use the
food stored as soon as possible.
¥ Frozen food must not be re-frozen once it has
been thawed out.
¥ ManufacturersÕ storage recommendations should
be strictly adhered to. Refer to relevant
instructions.
¥ The inner lining of the appliance consists of
channels through which the refrigerant passes. If
these should be punctured this would damage
the appliance beyond repair and cause food loss.
DO NOT USE SHARP INSTRUMENTS to scrape
off frost or ice. Frost may be removed by using
the scraper provided. Under no circumstances
should solid ice be forced off the liner. Solid ice
should be allowed to thaw when defrosting the
appliance. See defrost instructions.

¥ Do not place carbonated or fizzy drinks in the
freezer as it creates pressure on the container,
which may cause it to explode, resulting in
damage to the appliance. Do not use a
mechanical device or any artificial means to
speed up the thawing process other than those
recommended by the manufacturer. Never use
metal objects for cleaning your appliance as it
may get damaged.
Installation
¥ During normal operation, the condenser and
compressor at the back of the appliance heat up
considerably. For safety reasons, minimum
ventilation must be as shown in the relevant
Figure.
Attention: keep ventilation openings clear of
obstruction.
¥ Care must be taken to ensure that the appliance
does not stand on the electrical supply cable.
Important: if the supply cord is damaged, it must
be replaced by a special cord or assembly
available from the manufacturer or its service
agent.
¥ There are working parts in this product which
heat up. Always ensure that there is adequate
ventilation as a failure to do this will result in
component failure and possible food loss. See
installation instructions.
¥ Parts which heat up should not be exposed.
Wherever possible the back of the product should
be against a wall.
¥ If the appliance has been transported horizontally,
it is possible that the oil contained in the
compressor flows in the refrigerant circuit. It is
advisable to wait at least two hours before
connecting the appliance to allow the oil to flow
back in the compressor.
Environment Protection
This appliance does not contain gasses which
could damage the ozone layer, in either its
refrigerant circuit or insulation materials. The
appliance shall not be discarded together with
the urban refuse and rubbish. Avoid damaging
the cooling unit, especially at the rear near the
heat exchanger. Information on your local
disposal sites may be obtained from municipal
authorities. The materials used on this appliance
marked by the symbol are recicable.
