Important safety notices
Before setting up and using the device, please read these instructions care-
fully and thoroughly.
• Keep this user manual in a safe place so that it can be accessed by
other users at all times.
• Do not use the device if it is obviously damaged.
• Only use the device in locations where 2.4 GHz radio technology is
permitted.
• The device and in particular the power supply unit are only intended
for operation in dry indoor areas. Operation is only guaranteed within
room temperatures of 5°C to 35 °C.
• Keep the product, packaging and accessories away from children
and pets to avoid accidents.
• Always handle the device and accessories carefully and do not place
them in dirty or dusty areas.
• Clean the transmitter and receiver regularly. For hygienic reasons,
also clean the soft silicone earbuds regularly. Replace the earbuds for
the ones available as accessories.
• Paints and furniture polishes can chemically attack the transmitter‘s
rubber feet and cause surface damage to your furniture.
• Use only the provided power supply unit to power the transmitter.
• In the event of several days‘ absence, we recommend unplugging the
power supply unit from the mains electricity socket.
Attention:
Your receiver can be set to a very high volume. To protect your own hear-
ing or the hearing of people with regular hearing capabilities, especially
children, from damage caused by excessive volume, please observe the
following instructions:
1. Set the receiver to a low volume level before using it.
2. During use, adjust the volume to a level that is comfortable for you.
3. If you have a pacemaker, please check with your physician or the man-
ufacturer of the pacemaker before using this product.
4. If you use other medical devices, use the device only in accordance
with the safety instructions of your physician or the manufacturer.

Safety notes on the lithium-ions rechargeable
battery
The battery used in the “earis XS” is a lithium-ions battery manufactured in
accordance with the latest standards and safety regulations. Misuse or im-
proper treatment can damage the battery, in which case the Humantechnik
Group assumes no liability.
In extreme cases there is a risk of:
- development of heat
- development of fire
- explosion
- smoke or gas emission
• Do not expose the battery to temperatures above 70°C, e.g. by sun-
light or throwing it into fire.
• Do not expose the battery to water and condensation.
• Do not short-circuit the battery.
• Do not disassemble or deform the battery.
• Store the device / battery in a cool and dry place at room tempera-
ture.
• Only use the chargers provided for the battery.
• When not in use for a prolonged time, recharge the battery in the unit
regularly (every 6 months for approx. 1 hour).
• Charge the battery only at an ambient temperature of 10 °C to 40 °C.
• If the device is obviously defective, do not recharge the battery.
• Refer to the information regarding warranty and disposal.

Connecting the transmitter to an audio source
Turn off the audio source before connecting the transmitter. Place the
transmitter near the audio source. Do not place the transmitter in the imme-
diate vicinity of thick reinforced concrete walls and other radio-transmitting
devices, as the transmission range could be reduced.
You have several possibilities to connect “earis XS” to a sound source (e.g.
TV, stereo set etc.).
Check the options of connection of your audio source.

Connecting the transmitter to digital-out
(S/PDIF / Toslink)
For best audio quality, connect the transmitter to your audio source using
the Toslink optical (digital) cable.
Please note that the digital input can only transmit audio sources in PCM /
Stereo standard.
Refer to the manual of the connected audio source to learn how to set up
the digital output.

Audio playback is not possible if a combined digital signal (bitstream) is
used. The status LED on the transmitter will flash twice, with a pause in
between, if there is no usable digital signal input.
Remove the protective caps on the two Toslink connectors on the cable.
Plug the Toslink optical cable into the transmitter‘s Digital In connector and
connect it to your audio source. The analog/digital switch on the transmit-
ter‘s left side must be set to “Digital”.
Connecting the transmitter to RCA sockets
Good audio quality can be achieved by connecting the transmitter to your
audio source using the analogue audio connection lead.
Plug the supplied audio connection cable into the transmitter‘s blue “An-
alog In” socket. Connect the RCA adapter cable audio connection lead.
Plug the RCA connectors into the RCA sockets of your audio source. Make
sure that the white connector is connected to the white socket of the audio
source and the red connector is connected to the red socket of the audio
source.
The analogue/digital switch on the transmitter‘s left side must be set to
“Analog”
Connecting the transmitter to a headphone jack
socket
Plug the supplied audio connection lead into the transmitter‘s blue “Analog
In” socket. Plug the audio connection lead into the headphone jack of your
audio source.
Set the volume of your sound source to a medium level, where possible.
There are TV sets that mute the speakers when devices are connected to
their headphone jack. On some television sets, this automatic muting can
be turned off via the TV settings menu. Alternatively, use another option for

connection. The analog/digital switch on the transmitter‘s left side must be
set to “Analog”.
Connecting the transmitter to a SCART socket
The SCART adapter is not included in the scope of delivery and can be
purchased from a specialist dealer.
Plug the supplied audio connection lead into the transmitter‘s blue “Analog
In” socket. Connect the SCART adapter with the audio connection lead.
Plug the SCART adapter into the SCART socket of your audio source. The
analog/digital switch on the transmitter‘s left side must be set to “Analog”.

Powering the transmitter
Connect the power supply unit to the transmitter with the yellow “5V DC
1.5A” power socket. Then plug the power supply unit into an electrical
mains outlet.
Using the rechargeable battery
Insert the supplied battery into the receiver, until it clicks into place (the
battery only fits one way)
Charge the receiver completely and without interruption before first use. A
complete charge will take about 2 hours.
The battery status on the receiver lights up red when the battery level is low.
When system is in use and the battery in the receiver is low, the status LED
on the receiver flashes RED constantly, and you will hear a beep every 30
seconds. After a few minutes, the receiver will automatically switch off.
To charge the battery, place the receiver in the charging dock of the Trans-
mitter. The LED bar must point upwards, magnets keep the receiver in the
correct charging position.
The charging status LED on the front of the receiver will illuminate red, the
charging status LED will switch to green when the battery is fully charged.

We recommend that you always place the receiver in the charging dock of
the transmitter when the system is not in use, this will always keep the bat-
tery in optimum condition. The intelligent charging circuit within the system
will prevent overcharging of the battery.
The second battery can be charged in the transmitter, additional batteries
are available from your dealer.
The replacement battery can be inserted into the charging slot on the right
side of the transmitter, please remove the cover over the charging slot.
The battery only fits one-way, extreme force is not required to insert it into
the transmitter.
During charging, the charging status LED for the spare battery lights up red
when the battery is fully charged this indicator changes to green.
We recommend that you swap the batteries once a week, this exercises
the batteries and allows them to reach their maximum lifespan.
Earbuds
As supplied, the larger silicone earbuds are fitted to the receiver‘s speaker
arms. If these buds are not comfortable for you, you will find a pair of small-
er earbuds in the delivery.
To change the earbuds, gently pull them off the speaker arms.
Then carefully insert the other two earbuds. Make sure that the earbuds fit
well and firmly.
From time to time, remove the earbuds from the receiver and clean them
with mild soapy water. Dry the earbuds thoroughly before replacing them.
In case of heavy soiling or damage, you should replace the earbuds. Re-
placements are available from your specialist dealer.

Using “earis XS”
Attention:
Your receiver can be set to a very high volume. To protect your own hear-
ing or the hearing of people with regular hearing capabilities, especially
children, from damage caused by excessive volume, please observe the
following instructions:
1. Set the receiver to a low volume level before using it.
2. During use, adjust the volume to a level that is comfortable for you.
3. Do not expose yourself to high volume for an extended amount of time.
Using the “earis XS” underchin receiver
To use “earis XS”, proceed as follows:
1. Switch your audio source on (e.g. TV). If “earis XS” is connected via
the headphone jack, you should set the volume of the sound source
to a medium level. This is not necessary if “earis XS” is connected via
Toslink or RCA.
2. The receiver switches on automatically when spreading the speaker
arms. Use the volume control on the receiver to adjust the volume to
a low level to protect your hearing. A low level of volume is indicated
when only a few LEDs on the volume indicator are lit. The more LEDs
on the volume indicator light up, the higher the set volume.
3. Adjust the earbuds so that they sit comfortably and without pressure
directly in front of your auditory canals. Look for the markings “L” and
“R” on the top of the speaker arms. The large silver volume wheel
should face forward for easy operation. Put the receiver on. The green
status LED at the top of the receiver indicates whether the receiver is
switched on.
4. The white status LED on the transmitter lights up white as soon as
the transmitter is in contact with the receiver and a transmission is
established.
5. Adjust to the desired volume.
6. When you remove the receiver, it is automatically switched off. We
recommend to always return the receiver to the transmitter‘s charging
dock so that the battery is always charged. If no audio signal reaches
the transmitter for more than 15 minutes, it will switch off automatically.

Audio source selection
You have the possibility to connecting a maximum of 2 audio sources to
the transmitter, for example an analogue stereo system and a digital TV
set. Use the “Analog/Digital” input selection switch on the left side of the
receiver to select the desired audio source.
Adjusting the volume
Use the silver volume control on the front of the receiver to easily adjust the
desired volume by turning it. The LED bar indicates the set volume. A low
level of volume is indicated when only a few LEDs on the volume indicator
bar are lit. The more LEDs on the volume indicator light up, the higher the
set volume.
Adjusting the balance
The balance control allows the volume distribution between the right and
left ear. Adjust the balance so that you hear equally well in both ears.
The balance control is located on the rear side of the receiver and can be
turned with the help of a coin.

Set listening profile for sound improvement
With our hearing profiles you have the possibility to find an optimal setting
for your hearing sensation. You can choose the most comfortable profile for
you from 5 sound profiles. The set profile is saved.
The following profiles can be selected:
1. strong sound alteration in the low frequency range
2. minor sound alteration in the low frequency range
3. no change
4. minor sound alteration in the high frequency range
5. strong sound alteration in the high frequency range
1. Press the tone control button on the top of the transmitter to select the
desired profile. You can identify the set profile on the transmitter by the 5
sound profile indicator LEDs.
You can connect a maximum of two receivers to one “earis XS” transmitter.
The transmitter calculates the sound profile, while the adjusted sound pro-
files are stored in the receiver.
The transmitter always calculates the set sound profile of the receiver that
is switched on first.

Pairing transmitter and receiver
For “earis XS” to function properly, transmitter and receiver must be paired.
As a rule, this has already been done during production and is carried out
as a standard on delivery.
However, if you want to use another receiver or perhaps have to replace
one later, it must first be paired with the transmitter.
A maximum of 2 receivers can be used simultaneously with one transmitter.
There are 2 possibilities to pair a receiver with the transmitter:
1. When inserting a receiver into the charging dock of the transmitter for at
least 15 seconds, the according receiver and the transmitter will be paired
automatically.
2. Press and hold the tone control button until the status LED on the front
of the transmitter starts flashing rapidly.
Underchin receiver: Wear the underchin receiver to switch it on.
Press the function button on the top of the receiver until the flashing status
LED on the transmitter lights up constantly. This indicates that transmitter
and receiver are now paired.

Important notes
The equipment is designed for listening within domestic environments.
Other uses are outside the scope of use for this product. Damage or con-
taimination caused to the equipment, caused by use not in accordance
with these instructions, is excluded from the warranty.
The devices are not waterproof and should be kept away from all liquids.
Do not place them near any heat sources. Do not place any items on top
of the devices which may cause them to malfunction.
Warranty
“earis XS” is a highly reliable product. Should a fault occur, contrary to
proper use, please refer to the troubleshooting guide. If this does not re-
solve the problem, please contact your retailer or the manufacturer directly
for further help before returning any items.
The warranty covers free repair as well as free return shipment, where ap-
plicable.
We recommend to return the items in the original packaging, so please
keep it for the length of the warranty period.
This warranty does not cover misuse, improper handling or attempted re-
pair by unauthorised persons (broken device seal). Warranty repairs will
only be carried out if proof of purchase is provided to the retailer or man-
ufacturer.
Always specify the product number in any event.

Environmental information / disposal
Disposal of used electrical and electronic devices (to be applied in coun-
tries of the European Union and other European countries with a
separate collection system for these devices).
The symbol on the product or on its packing indicates that this
product must not be treated as normal household waste, but that it must
be returned to a recycling point of acceptance for electrical and electronic
devices or that it must be disposed in a Yellow Bin. You protect the envi-
ronment and the health of your fellow man by contributing to the correct
disposal. Environment and health are endangered by incorrect disposal.
Material recycling helps to reduce the consumption of raw materials.
Additional information about recycling of this product can be obtained from
your community, the municipal disposal companies or the shop where you
bought the product.
Battery
The provided batteries can be recycled. Please dispose of the bat-
tery through battery containers or a specialist shop.
Please dispose only discharged batteries to guarantee environmen-
tal protection.

Conexión del transmisor a una fuente de audio
Apague la fuente de audio antes de conectar el transmisor. Coloque el
transmisor cerca de la fuente de audio. No coloque el transmisor cerca de
paredes gruesas de hormigón reforzado ni otros dispositivos de trasmisión
por radio, ya que se podría reducir el alcance de trasmisión.
Usted tiene varias posibilidades para conectar “earis XS” a una fuente de
sonido (p. ej., TV, equipo estéreo, etc.).
Compruebe las opciones de conexión de su fuente de audio.

Conexión del transmisor a salida digital
(S/PDIF / Toslink)
Para una mejor calidad de audio, conecte el transmisor a su fuente de
audio usando el cable óptico Toslink (digital).
Observe que la entrada digital únicamente puede trasmitir fuentes de audio
en estándar PCM/Estéreo.
Consulte el manual de la fuente de audio conectada para aprender cómo
configurar la salida digital.

La reproducción de audio no es posible si se usa una señal digital combi-
nada (bitstream). El led de estado en el transmisor destellará dos veces,
con una pausa entremedio, si no hay entrada de señal digital utilizable.
Retire las tapas protectoras de los dos conectores Toslink del cable.
Enchufe el cable óptico Toslink en el conector de entrada digital del trans-
misor y conéctelo a la fuente de audio. El conmutador analógico/digital en
el lado izquierdo del transmisor debe ponerse en “Digital”.
Conexión del transmisor a tomas RCA
Usando el cable de conexión de audio analógico se puede lograr una bue-
na calidad de audio conectando el transmisor a la fuente de audio.
Enchufe el cable de conexión de audio suministrado a la toma azul de “En-
trada analógica” del transmisor. Conecte el cable de conexión de audio de
cable adaptador RCA. Enchufe los conectores RCA en las tomas RCA de
la fuente de audio. Asegúrese de que el conector blanco se conecta a la
toma blanca de la fuente de audio y el conector rojo se conecta a la toma
roja de la fuente de audio.
El conmutador analógico/digital del lado izquierdo del transmisor debe po-
nerse en “Analógico”.
Conexión del transmisor a la toma de auriculares
Enchufe el cable de conexión de audio suministrado a la toma azul de “En-
trada analógica” del transmisor. Enchufe el cable de conexión de audio a la
toma de auriculares de la fuente de audio.
Ponga el volumen de su fuente de sonido en un nivel medio, si es posible.
Hay aparatos de TV que silencian los altavoces cuando se conectan dis-
positivos a su toma de auriculares. En algunos aparatos de televisión, este
silenciamiento automático se puede desactivar por medio del menú de
configuración de la TV.

Como alternativa, use otra opción para la conexión El conmutador analó-
gico/digital del lado izquierdo del transmisor debe ponerse en “Analógico”.
Conexión del transmisor a la toma SCART
El adaptador SCART no esta incluido en el contenido de la entrega y puede
ser adquirido de un distribuidor especializado.
Enchufe el cable de conexión de audio suministrado a la toma azul de
“Entrada analógica” del transmisor. Conecte el adaptador SCART con
el cable de conexión de audio. Enchufe el adaptador SCART en la toma
SCART de la fuente de audio. El conmutador analógico/digital del lado
izquierdo del transmisor debe ponerse en “Analógico”.

Alimentación del transmisor
Conecte la fuente de alimentación al transmisor con la toma de alimenta-
ción amarilla de “5V CC 1,5A”. Luego enchufe la fuente de alimentación a
una toma de la red eléctrica.
Uso de la batería recargable
Inserte la batería suministrada en el receptor con la inclinación orientada
hacia arriba hasta que haga clic en su sitio.
Cargue el receptor completamente y sin interrupción antes de usarlo por
primera vez.
Una carga completa al 100 % tarda alrededor de 2 horas.
El estado de la batería en el receptor se ilumina en rojo cuando el nivel de
la batería es bajo.Cuando la batería esté baja, el led de estado del receptor
destella y se oye un pitido cada 30 segundos. Luego, tras unos minutos, el
receptor se apaga automáticamente.
Para cargar la batería, coloque el receptor en la estación de carga del
transmisor. La barra de ledes debe apuntar hacia arriba. Unos imanes
mantienen el receptor en la posición de carga correcta.
El led de carga en la parte frontal del transmisor comienza a iluminarse
en rojo. El led de estado de carga cambia a verde cuando la batería está
totalmente cargada.

Le recomendamos que coloque siempre el receptor en la estación de car-
ga del transmisor si no usa el dispositivo. Esto mantiene la batería en con-
dición óptima de funcionamiento en todo momento. El circuito de carga
inteligente del receptor impide una sobrecarga de la batería.
La batería adicional puede cargarse en el transmisor. Puede adquirir bate-
rías adicionales en su distribuidor.
La batería de repuesto se puede insertar en la ranura de carga del lado
derecho - en primer lugar retire la tapa que cubre la ranura de carga.
Asegúrese de que el borde delantero inclinado apunte hacia arriba e in-
serte la batería sin forzarla. Durante la carga, el led de estado de carga
de la batería de repuesto se ilumina en rojo y cambia a verde cuando está
totalmente cargada. La batería está así lista para usar.
Le recomendamos que cambie las pilas una vez a la semana. De este
modo, ambas pilas se utilizan con regularidad y alcanzan su máxima vida
útil.
Intrauriculares
Tal y como vienen, los intrauriculares de silicona más grandes se ajustan
a los brazos de altavoz del receptor.Si estos intrauriculares no le resultan
confortables, en el suministro encontrará un par de intrauriculares más pe-
queños.
Para cambiar los intrauriculares, tire suavemente de ellos para sacarlos de
los brazos del altavoz.
Luego inserte cuidadosamente los otros dos intrauriculares. Asegúrese de
que los intrauriculares encajen bien y firmemente.
De vez en cuando, retire los intrauriculares del receptor y límpielos con
agua ligeramente jabonosa. Seque los intrauriculares minuciosamente an-
tes de volver a colocarlos.
En caso de que estén muy manchados o dañados, los intrauriculares de-
ben ser sustituidos. Hay recambios disponibles en su distribuidor especia-
lizado.

Cómo usar el “earis XS”
Atención:
Su receptor se puede poner a un volumen muy alto.Para proteger sus
oídos o los oídos de personas con audición normal, especialmente niños,
deldaño provocado por un volumen excesivo, tenga en cuenta las siguien-
tes instrucciones:
1. Ponga el receptor a un nivel de volumen bajo antes de usarlo.
2. Cuando lo use, ajuste el volumen a un nivel que le sea cómodo.
3. No se exponga a un volumen alto durante mucho tiempo.
Uso del receptor bajo la barbilla “earis XS”
Para usar “earis XS”, proceda de la siguiente manera:
1. Si el “earis XS” está conectado a través de la hembrilla para auricula-
res, debe ajustar el volumen de la fuente de audio a un nivel medio.
Esto no es necesario cuando “earis XS” está conectado a través de
Toslink o RCA.
2. El receptor se enciende automáticamente cuando se extienden los
brazos de altavoz.Use el control de volumen del receptor para ajustar
el volumen a un nivel bajo para proteger sus oídos.Cuando en el indi-
cador de volumen únicamente se iluminan unos pocos ledes se indica
bajo nivel de volumen.Cuantos más ledes se iluminan en el indicador
de volumen, más alto es el volumen.
3. Ajuste los intrauriculares de modo que queden confortablemente y sin
presión directamente en sus canales auditivos.Busque las marcas “L”
y “R” en la parte superior de los brazos de altavoz.La gran rueda pla-
teada de volumen debe orientarse hacia delante para usarla fácilmen-
te.Colóquese el receptor.El led de estado verde de la parte superior del
receptor indica si el receptor está encendido.
4. El led de estado blanco del transmisor se ilumina en blanco tan pronto
como el transmisor está en contacto con el receptor y se establece
una trasmisión.
5. Ajuste el volumen que desee.
6. Cuando se retira el receptor, se apaga automáticamente.Recomenda-
mos devolver siempre el receptor a la estación de carga del transmisor
de modo que la batería siempre esté cargada. Si no llega señal de
audio al transmisor durante más de 15 minutos, se apagará automá-
ticamente.

Selección de la fuente de audio
Es posible conectar un máximo de 2 fuentes de audio al transmisor, por
ejemplo un sistema estéreo analógico y un aparato de TV digital. Use el
conmutador de selección de entrada “Analógico/Digital” del lado izquierdo
del receptor para seleccionar la fuente de audio que desee.
Ajuste del volumen
Utilice el control de volumen plateado de la parte delantera del receptor
para ajustar fácilmente el volumen que desee. La barra de ledes indica
el volumen establecido. Cuando en la barra indicadora de volumen úni-
camente se iluminan unos pocos ledes se indica bajo nivel de volumen.
Cuantos más ledes se iluminan en el indicador de volumen, más alto es el
volumen.
Ajuste del balance
El control de balance permite la distribución de volumen entre el oído de-
recho y el izquierdo. Ajuste el balance de modo que oiga igualmente bien
en ambos oídos.
El control de balance está ubicado en el lado trasero del receptor y puede
girarse con la ayuda de una moneda.

Establezca un perfil de escucha para mejorar el sonido
Con nuestros perfiles auditivos usted tiene la posibilidad de encontrar un
ajuste óptimo para su sensación auditiva. Puede elegir el perfil más cómo-
do para usted entre 5 perfiles de sonido. Se graba el perfil de set.
Se pueden seleccionar los siguientes perfiles:
1. alteración fuerte de sonido en el rango de frecuencias bajas;
2. alteración menor de sonido en el rango de frecuencias bajas;
3. sin cambio;
4. alteración menor de sonido en el rango de frecuencias altas;
5. alteración fuerte de sonido en el rango de frecuencias altas.
1. Pulse el botón de control de tono de la parte superior del transmisor
para seleccionar el perfil deseado. Se puede identificar el perfil establecido
en el transmisor mediante los 5 ledes indicadores de perfil de sonido.
A un transmisor “earis XS” se puede conectar un máximo de dos recepto-
res.El transmisor calcula el perfil de sonido, mientras los perfiles de sonido
ajustados se almacenan en el receptor.
El transmisor siempre calcula el perfil de sonido establecido del receptor
que se enciende primero.

Emparejamiento de transmisor y receptor
Para que “earis XS” funcione correctamente, transmisor y receptor deben
estar emparejados. Por norma, esto ya se ha hecho durante la fabricación
y se entregan emparejados por defecto.
Sin embargo, si desea usar otro receptor o quizá tiene que sustituirlo más
adelante, en primer lugar debe ser emparejado con el transmisor.
Con un transmisor se pueden usar simultáneamente un máximo de
2receptores.
Hay 2 posibilidades de emparejar un receptor con el transmisor:
1. Al insertar un receptor en la base de carga del transmisor durante al
menos 15 segundos, el receptor y el transmisor correspondientes se em-
parejarán automáticamente.
2. Mantenga pulsado el botón de control de tono hasta que el led de esta-
do en la parte delantera del transmisor empiece a destellar rápidamente.
Receptor bajo la barbilla: Póngase el receptor bajo la barbilla para encen-
derlo.
Pulse el botón de función en la parte superior del receptor hasta que el
led de estado destellando en el transmisor se ilumine constantemente.
Estoindica que transmisor y receptor están ahora emparejados.

Notas importantes

ticos. Otros usos están fuera del ámbito de uso de este producto. Los da-
ños o contaminación provocados al equipo o que hayan sido provocados

de su uso apropiado, consulte la guía de solución de problemas. Si no se
resuelve el problema, contacte con su vendedor o directamente con el
fabricante para obtener ayuda adicional antes de devolver ningún artículo.
La garantía cubre una reparación gratuita así como envío de devolución
gratuito, cuando corresponda.
Se recomienda devolver los artículos en el embalaje original, así que guár-
delo durante todo el periodo de garantía.
Esta garantía no cubre un mal uso, un manejo inapropiado o un intento
