maintain your machine. Please be sure that you, and any other

persons who will operate the machine, carefully follow the

Important Safe Operation Practices

Training

1. Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the

machine and in the manual(s) before attempting to

assemble and operate. Keep this manual in a safe place for

future and regular reference and for ordering replacement

parts.

2. Be familiar with all controls and their proper operation.

Know how to stop the machine and disengage them

quickly.

3. Never allow children under 14 years of age to operate this

machine. Children 14 and over should read and understand

the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual

and on the machine and be trained and supervised by an

adult.

4. Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper

instruction.

5. Keep the area of operation clear of all persons, particularly

small children and pets. Stop machine if anyone enters the

area.

Preparation

1. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to

be used. Remove all stones, sticks, wire, and other foreign

objects which could be tripped over and cause personal

injury.

2. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and close fitting

slacks and shirt. Loose fitting clothes or jewelry can be

caught in moving parts. Never operate this machine in bare

feet or sandals.

3. Disengage clutch levers and shift (if provided) into neutral

(“N”) before starting the engine.

4. Never leave this machine unattended with the engine

running.

5. Never attempt to make any adjustments while engine is

running, except where specifically recommended in the

operator’s manual.

Safe Handling of Gasoline:

To avoid personal injury or property damage use extreme care

in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can occur when

gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite.

Wash your skin and change clothes immediately.

• Use only an approved gasoline container.

• Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck

or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place

containers on the ground away from your vehicle

before filling.

11. After striking a foreign object, stop the engine, disconnect

the spark plug wire and ground against the engine.

Thoroughly inspect the machine for any damage. Repair

the damage before starting and operating.

12. Disengage all clutch levers (if fitted) and stop engine

before you leave the operating position (behind the

handles). Wait until the tines come to a complete stop

before unclogging the tines, making any adjustments, or

inspections.

13. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area.

Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless

and deadly gas.

14. Muffler and engine become hot and can cause a burn. Do

not touch.

15. Use caution when tilling near fences, buildings and

underground utilities. Rotating tines can cause property

damage or personal injury.

16. Do not overload machine capacity by attempting to till soil

too deep at too fast of a rate.

17. If the machine should start making an unusual noise or

vibration, stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire

and ground it against the engine. Inspect thoroughly for

damage. Repair any damage before starting and operating.

18. Keep all shields, guards, and safety devices in place and

operating properly.

19. Never pick up or carry machine while the engine is running.

20. Use only attachments and accessories approved by the

manufacturer. Failure to do so can result in personal injury.

21. If situations occur which are not covered in this manual, use

care and good judgement. Contact Customer Support for

assistance and the name of you nearest servicing dealer..

Maintenance & Storage

1. Keep machine, attachments and accessories in safe

working order.

2. Allow a machine to cool at least five minutes before

storing. Never tamper with safety devices. Check their

proper operation regularly.

3. Check bolts and screws for proper tightness at frequent

intervals to keep the machine in safe working condition.

Also, visually inspect machine for any damage.

4. Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, stop the engine

and make certain the tines and all moving parts have

stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it

against the engine to prevent unintended starting.

5. Do not change the engine governor settings or over-speed

the engine. The governor controls the maximum safe

operating speed of engine.

6. Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as

necessary.

7. Follow this manual for safe loading, unloading,

transporting, and storage of this machine.

8. Always refer to the operator’s manual for important details

if the machine is to be stored for an extended period.

• When practical, remove gas-powered equipment

from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground.

If this is not possible, then refuel such equipment on

a trailer with a portable container, rather than from a

gasoline dispenser nozzle.

• Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel

tank or container opening at all times until fueling is

complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open device.

• Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other

sources of ignition.

• Never fuel machine indoors.

• Never remove gas cap or add fuel while the engine

is hot or running. Allow engine to cool at least two

minutes before refueling.

• Never over fill fuel tank. Fill tank to no more than ½

inch below bottom of filler neck to allow space for

fuel expansion.

• Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely.

• If gasoline is spilled, wipe it off the engine and

equipment. Move unit to another area. Wait 5

minutes before starting the engine.

• To reduce fire hazards, keep machine free of grass,

leaves, or other debris build-up. Clean up oil or fuel

spillage and remove any fuel soaked debris.

• Never store the machine or fuel container inside

where there is an open flame, spark or pilot light

as on a water heater, space heater, furnace, clothes

dryer or other gas appliances.

Operation

1. Do not put hands or feet near rotating parts. Contact with

the rotating parts can amputate hands and feet.

2. Do not operate machine while under the influence of

alcohol or drugs.

3. Never operate this machine without good visibility or light.

Always be sure of your footing and keep a firm hold on the

handles.

4. Keep bystanders away from the machine while it is in

operation. Stop the machine if anyone enters the area.

5. Be careful when tilling in hard ground. The tines may catch

in the ground and propel the tiller forward. If this occurs,

let go of the handle bars and do not restrain the machine.

6. Exercise extreme caution when operating on or crossing

gravel surfaces. Stay alert for hidden hazards or traffic. Do

not carry passengers.

7. Never operate the machine at high transport speeds on

hard or slippery surfaces.

8. Exercise caution to avoid slipping or falling.

9. Look down and behind and use care when in reverse or

pulling machine towards you.

10. Start the engine according to the instructions found in this

manual and keep feet well away from the tines at all times.

9. If the fuel tank has to be drained, do this outdoors.

10. Observe proper disposal laws and regulations for gas, oil,

etc. to protect the environment.

11. According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission

(CPSC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),

this product has an Average Useful Life of seven (7) years,

or 130 hours of operation. At the end of the Average Useful

Life have the machine inspected annually by an authorized

service dealer to ensure that all mechanical and safety

systems are working properly and not worn excessively.

Failure to do so can result in accidents, injuries or death.

Notice Regarding Emissions

Engines which are certified to comply with California and federal

EPA emission regulations for SORE (Small Off Road Equipment)

are certified to operate on regular unleaded gasoline, and

may include the following emission control systems: Engine

Modification (EM), Oxidizing Catalyst (OC), Secondary Air

Injection (SAI) and Three Way Catalyst (TWC) if so equipped.

Spark Arrestor

WARNING! This machine is equipped with an

internal combustion engine and should not be used

on or near any unimproved forest-covered,

brushcovered or grass-covered land unless the

engine’s exhaust system is equipped with a spark

arrestor meeting applicable local or state laws (if

any).

If a spark arrestor is used, it should be maintained in effective

working order by the operator. In the State of California the

above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public

Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws

apply on federal lands.

A spark arrestor for the muffler is available through your

nearest engine authorized service dealer or contact the service

department, P.O. Box 361131 Cleveland, Ohio 44136-0019.

Assembly & Set-Up

Assembly

References to the right and left side of tiller are determined from

behind the equipment in the operating position.

Recommended Tools for Assembly

• ⁄“ wrench

• Clean oil funnel

• Motor oil. Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for oil

specifications and quantity required.

Tines

The tines must be installed correctly to insure proper operation.

See below for the proper tine installation:

1. The tines must be installed in the correct location and the

correct order. Each tine is marked as follows:

• A1 — Inner LH Tine

• A2 — Outer LH Tine

• B1 — Inner RH Tine

• B2 — Outer RH Tine

NOTE: Images and descriptions of tine installation are referenced

from the FRONT of the tiller.

2. Use two clevis pins and two cotter pins from the manual

bag. From the FRONT of the tiller install the inner LH tines

(A1) onto the inner left side of the shaft. Install the inner RH

tines (B1) onto the inner right side of the shaft. See Figure

3-1.

3. Use two clevis pins and two cotter pins from the manual

bag. From the FRONT of the tiller install the outer LH tines

(A2) onto the outer left side of the shaft. Install the outer

RH tines (B2) onto the outer right side of the shaft. see

figure 3-2.

NOTE: The outer tines can be placed in either of the two

outside holes. The inner hole is for a 22” tilling width and

the outer hole is for a 24” tilling width.

Handle

The handle is tilted down and packaged loose for shipping

purposes. To attach the handle, proceed as follows:

1. Remove the bolts, washers and nuts from the chain case

bracket. See Figure 3-5.

2. Place the handle into position and secure with the

previously removed hardware. See Figure 3-5.

3. Remove the handle adjustment crank from the handle. See

Figure 3-6.

4. Rotate the handle upward and secure it in place with the

handle adjustment crank. See Figure 3-6.

Wheel Assembly & Depth Stake Assembly

1. Remove the remaining clevis pin and cotter pin from the

manual bag, install the wheel assembly into the chain case

bracket as shown in Figure 3-3.

2. Remove the two screws from the bracket in the chain case.

See Figure 3-4.

3. Insert the horizontal bracket into the chain case brackets

and secure the depth stake assembly in place with the

screws just removed in step 1. See Figure 3-4.

NOTE: The depth stake can be placed at various positions.

For setup purposes it is suggested that the depth stake

be assembled with the stake just above or level with the

ground surface. See the Operation section for instructions

on setting the tilling depth and adjusting the depth stake.

5. When the handle is in place, insert the clutch cable into the

cable guide on the handle as shown in Figure 3-7.

Adjustments

Wheels

The tiller is shipped with the wheels adjusted so that the

machine sits level. The wheels need to be adjusted to meet

your tilling needs before operation. This adjustment is made by

removing the clevis pin from the chain case bracket and raising

the wheels to the desired height. See Figure 3-8.

Depth Stake

The depth stake can also be adjusted to set to control the tilling

depth. To raise or lower the depth stake, remove the clevis pin

and cotter pin place the depth stake in the desired position and

reinstall the hardware. See Figure 3-8.

NOTE: See the Operation section for more information.

Clutch Cable Adjustment

Before operating the tiller the adjustment of the forward clutch

cables must be checked.

1. Disconnect and ground the spark plug wire against the

engine.

2. Adjust the forward clutch cable by loosening the hex nut.

See Figure 3-9.

3. Turn the cable collar section one or two turns to increase or

decrease tension on the cable. See Figure 3-9.

4. Retighten the lock nut against the cable collar. See Figure 3-9.

5. With the forward engagement handle in the neutral (released)

position, pull the starter rope several times. The tines should

not turn.

6. If they turn adjust the forward clutch cable to release

tension using the previous steps in this section.

7. Check again for correct tension on the cable.

8. After tilling, if the tines stop moving, re-adjust the cables.

Set-Up

Gas & Oil Fill-Up

Service the Engine with gasoline and oil as instructed in the

separate Engine Operator’s Manual packed with your tiller. Read

the instructions carefully.

WARNING! Use extreme care when handling

gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Never fuel the machine

indoors or while the engine is hot or running.

Clutch Lever

The clutch lever is located upper right hand arm of the handle.

Squeezing the lever against the handle engages the tine drive.

Release the lever to stop the tines.

Depth Stake

The depth stake acts as a brake for the tiller and controls the depth

and speed at which the machine will operate.

Tines

The tines are used to cultivate, furrow and prepare your garden

for seeding.

Handle Adjustment Crank

The handle height may be adjusted. Loosen the crank to change

the position. Tighten the crank when the desired height is

achieved.

Operation

Starting & Stopping the Engine

WARNING! Read, understand, and follow all the

instructions and warnings posted on the machine

and in this manual before operating.

WARNING! Be sure no one is standing in front of

the tiller while the engine is running or being

started.

1. Make sure that the tine clutch control is disengaged and

refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for engine starting

and stopping instructions.

Setting the Depth

Wheels Forward

Place the wheels so that they are forward (nearest to tines) for

shallow tilling, cultivating and transport. See Figure 5-1.

Place the wheels so that they are toward the rear (closest to depth

stake) for deep tilling and cultivating. See Figure 5-2.

Depth Stake

The depth stake acts as a brake for the tiller and controls the depth

and speed at which the machine will operate. Remove the clevis

pin and cotter pin to raise or lower depth stake and adjust the

tilling depth. See Figure 5-3.

Cultivating Procedures

For cultivating, a 2-3” depth is desirable. The tine width can

be reduced to 13” by removing the outer tines completely

from the tiller. See the Maintenance & Adjustments Section for

instructions on removing the tines.

When laying out plant rows, be sure to allow enough width to

permit cultivation between the rows. In growing corn or similar

crops, check-row planting will permit cross cultivation and

practically eliminate hand hoeing. See Figure 5-5.

Other Uses

The tiller has many uses other than tilling and cultivating a

garden. One of these is the preparation of lawn area for seeding.

The tiller will prepare a deep seed bed which will be free of hard

untilled spots, allowing a better stand of grass to grow. The tiller

is very useful for loosening hard soil for excavation with a shovel;

no tedious handwork will be necessary. Your tiller may be used

for mixing compost in the pile or for mixing it with the soil in

your garden. This should be done after the soil has been broken

to the full working depth. The compost should be worked in to

a depth of 6-7”. This may be done by working the length of the

garden and then by making separate passes across its width. The

addition of decayed organic matter will substantially increase

the fertility of your garden. For proper decaying action, fertilizer

should be applied and worked in with the mulch materials.

Breaking up leaves and straw and mixing it with several inches of

soil allows proper aeration of the plant root system and retards

the growth of weeds.

Handle Pressure

Further control of the tilling depth and travel speed can be

obtained by variation of pressure on the handles.

A downward pressure on the handles will reduce the working depth

and increase the forward speed. An upward pressure on the handles

will increase the working depth and reduce the forward speed.

The type of soil and working conditions will determine the actual

setting of the depth stake and the handle pressure required.

Transporting & Storing the Tiller

To transport and store the tiller move the throttle to the stop

position. Pivot the depth stake away from ground up between

wheels. See Figure 5-3.

Using the Tiller

Your tiller is designed for seed bed preparation, cultivating,

furrowing and mulching.

Tilling Procedure

When tilling, leave approximately 8” of untilled soil between the

first and second tilling paths, then make the third path between

the first and second. See Figure 5-4.

In some soils, the desired depth is obtained the first time over

the garden. In other soils, the desired depth is obtained by going

over the garden two or three times. Passes should be made

across the length and width of the garden alternately. Rocks

which are turned up should be removed from the garden area.

WARNING! Disconnect the spark plug wire and

ground it against the engine before performing any

repairs.

Refer to the separate Engine Operator’s Manual for engine

maintenance instructions.

Tines

Clean the underside of the tine shield after each use. The dirt

washes off the tines easier if rinsed off immediately instead of

after it dries. Always towel dry the tiller afterwards and apply a

light coat of oil or silicone to prevent rusting or water damage.

NOTE: Never use a “pressure washer” to clean your tiller.

Water can penetrate tight areas of the tiller and its chain

case and cause serious damage to machine.

Lubrication

Pivot Points

Remove the belt cover and lubricate all the pivot points and

linkages at least once a season with light oil. Keep the belts free

of lubrication.

Tine Shafts

Remove the tine assemblies and lubricate the tine shafts at least

once a season.

Wheel Shafts

Remove the wheel assemblies and lubricate the axle shafts at

least once a season.

Chain Drive

The chain drive is pre-lubricated and sealed at factory.

Adjustments

Cable Adjustment

Refer to the Assembly & Set-Up section of this manual for

instructions on adjusting the clutch cable.

Tines

Tilling Width

With the outer tines installed, the working width of the machine

is 24”. This width may be reduced to 22” by removing the clevis

and cotter pins, sliding each outer tine inward toward the center

of the tiller and re-securing the pins in the holes provided. The

width can also be reduced to 13” by removing the outer tines

completely. See Figure 6-1.

Tine Inspection

The bolo tines will wear with use and should be inspected

at the beginning of each tilling season and after every 30

operating hours. The tines can be replaced either individually

or as a complete set. See the Replacement Parts section for tine

identification and part numbers.

With use, the tines will become shorter, narrower and pointed.

Badly worn tines will result in a loss of tilling depth, and reduced

effectiveness when chopping up and turning under organic matter.

Refer to Figure 6-2 for the following tine procedures.

Removing/Installing a Single Tine

1. With the engine shut off and the spark plug wire

disconnected, remove the two hex screws (⁄-16 x 1.00)

and hex lock nuts (⁄-16) that attach a single tine to a tine

holder. If needed, use penetrating oil on the nuts.

2. When installing a single tine, be sure to position it so that

its cutting edge (sharp) will enter the soil first as the tiller

moves forward.

Removing/Installing a Tine Assembly:

1. A tine assembly consists of eight tines mounted on a tine

holder.

2. If removing both tine assemblies, mark them “left” and

“right” before removal. Remove the hex screw (⁄-16 x 1.75)

and flange lock nut (⁄-16 ) that secure the tine assembly to

the tine shaft. If necessary, use a rubber mallet to tap the tine

assembly outward off the shaft.

3. Before reinstalling the tine assembly, inspect the tine

shaft for rust, rough spots or burrs. Lightly file or sand, as

needed. Apply a thin coat of grease to the shaft.

4. Install each tine assembly so that the cutting (sharp) edge

of the tines will enter the soil first when the tiller moves

forward. Secure the tine assembly to the tine shaft using

the screw and locknut.

Off-Season Storage

If the tiller will not be used for a period longer than 30 days, the

following steps should be taken to prepare the tiller for storage.

1. Clean the exterior of the engine and the entire tiller

thoroughly. Lubricate the tiller as described in the

lubrication instructions.

2. The use of pressure washers is not recommended for

cleaning your tiller. They may cause damage to electric

components, spindles, pulleys, bearings or the engine. The

use of pressure washers will result in shortened life and

reduce serviceability.

3. Refer to the Engine Operator’s Manual for correct engine

storage instructions.

4. Wipe tines with oiled rag to prevent rust.

5. Store tiller in a clean, dry area. Do not store next to

corrosive materials, such as fertilizer.

NOTE: When storing any type of power equipment in

an unventilated area or metal storage shed, care should

be taken to rustproof the equipment. Using a light oil or

silicone, coat the equipment and especially any springs,

bearings, and cables.

Belt Replacement

Your tiller has been engineered with a belt made of special

material (Kevlar Tensile) for longer life and better performance. It

should not be replaced with an off-the-shelf belt. Order all belts

through you authorized service dealer.

1. Disconnect and ground the spark plug wire against the engine.

2. Remove the belt cover from the left side of the tiller by

removing the two hex washer screws and the lock nut and

washer. See Figure 7-1.

3. Remove the idler pulley bolt and move the belt from under

the idler pulley keeper. See Figure 7-2.

4. Using a ⁄” wrench, remove the hex screw securing the belt

keeper to the engine. See Figure 7-3.

5. Remove the belt.

6. To install the new belt, follow the instructions in reverse

order and refer to Figure 7-4. Be sure to place the wider side

of the belt away from the engine and transmission pulleys.

NOTE: Upon reassembly, make certain that the idler pulley

keeper is as shown in Figure 7-2. Take note of the notch

on the bottom of the keeper and the alignment when

reassembling with the replacement belt.

FEDERAL and/or CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT

YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS

MTD Consumer Group Inc, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and for those products certified for sale in the state of

California, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) are pleased to explain the evaporative emission control system (ECS) warranty on your

2015-2016 small off-road equipment (outdoor equipment). In California, new outdoor equipment must be designed, built and equipped to

meet the State’s stringent anti-smog standards (in other states, outdoor equipment must be designed, built, and equipped to meet the U.S. EPA

small off-road spark ignition engine regulations). MTD Consumer Group Inc must warrant the ECS on your outdoor equipment for the period of

time listed below, provided there has been no abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance of the outdoor equipment.

Your ECS may include parts such as fuel tanks, fuel lines, fuel caps, valves, canisters, filters, vapor hoses, clamps, connectors, and other

associated emission-related components.

Where a warrantable condition exists, MTD Consumer Group Inc will repair your outdoor equipment at no cost to you including diagnosis,

parts, and labor.

MANUFACTURER’S WARRANTY COVERAGE:

This emission control system is warranted for two years. If any emission-related part on your outdoor equipment is defective, the part will be

repaired or replaced by MTD Consumer Group Inc.

OWNER’S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the outdoor equipment owner, you are responsible for performance of the required maintenance listed in your owner’s manual. MTD

Consumer Group Inc recommends that you retain all receipts covering maintenance on your outdoor equipment, but MTD Consumer Group Inc

cannot deny warranty solely for the lack of receipts.

As the outdoor equipment owner, you should however be aware that MTD Consumer Group Inc may deny you warranty coverage if your

outdoor equipment or a part has failed due to abuse, neglect, improper maintenance, or unapproved modifications.

You are responsible for presenting your outdoor equipment to MTD Consumer Group Inc’s distribution center or service center as soon as

the problem exists. The warranty repairs should be completed in a reasonable amount of time, not to exceed 30 days. If you have a question

regarding your warranty coverage, you should contact the MTD Consumer Group Inc Service Department at 1-800-800-7310 or at

http://support.mtdproducts.com.

GENERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY COVERAGE:

MTD Consumer Group Inc warrants to the ultimate purchaser and each subsequent purchaser that the outdoor equipment is: (1) designed,

built, and equipped so as to conform with all applicable regulations; and (2) free from defects in materials and workmanship that cause the

failure of a warranted part for a period of two years.

The warranty period begins on the date the outdoor equipment is delivered to an ultimate purchaser or first placed into service.

Subject to certain conditions and exclusions as stated below, the warranty on emission-related parts is as follows:

1. Any warranted part that is not scheduled for replacement as required maintenance in the written instructions supplied is warranted for

the warranty period stated above. If the part fails during the period of warranty coverage, the part will be repaired or replaced by MTD

Consumer Group Inc according to subsection (4) below. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty will be warranted for the

remainder of the period.

2. Any warranted part that is scheduled only for regular inspection in the written instructions supplied is warranted for the warranty period

stated above. Any such part repaired or replaced under warranty will be warranted for the remaining warranty period.

3. Any warranted part that is scheduled for replacement as required maintenance in the written instructions supplied is warranted for the

period of time before the first scheduled replacement date for that part. If the part fails before the first scheduled replacement, the part

will be repaired or replaced by MTD Consumer Group Inc according to subsection (4) below. Any such part repaired or replaced under

warranty will be warranted for the remainder of the period prior to the first scheduled replacement point for the part.

4. Repair or replacement of any warranted part under the warranty provisions herein must be performed at a warranty station at no charge

to the owner.

5. Notwithstanding the provisions herein, warranty services or repairs will be provided at all of our distribution centers that are franchised to

service the subject engines or equipment.

6. The outdoor equipment owner will not be charged for diagnostic labor that is directly associated with diagnosis of a defective, emission-

related warranted part, provided that such diagnostic work is performed at a warranty station.

7. MTD Consumer Group Inc is liable for damages to other engine or equipment components proximately caused by a failure under

warranty of any warranted part.

8. Throughout the off-road engine and equipment warranty period stated above, MTD Consumer Group Inc will maintain a supply of

warranted parts sufficient to meet the expected demand for such parts.

9. Any replacement part may be used in the performance of any warranty maintenance or repairs and must be provided without charge to

the owner. Such use will not reduce the warranty obligations of MTD Consumer Group Inc.

10. Add-on or modified parts that are not exempted by the Air Resources Board may not be used. The use of any non-exempted add-on or

modified parts by the ultimate purchaser will be grounds for disallowing a warranty claim. MTD Consumer Group Inc will not be liable to

warrant failures of warranted parts caused by the use of a non-exempted add-on or modified part.

WARRANTED PARTS:

The repair or replacement of any warranted part otherwise eligible for warranty coverage may be excluded from such warranty coverage

if MTD Consumer Group Inc demonstrates that the outdoor equipment has been abused, neglected, or improperly maintained, and that

such abuse, neglect, or improper maintenance was the direct cause of the need for repair or replacement of the part. That notwithstanding,

any adjustment of a component that has a factory installed, and properly operating, adjustment limiting device is still eligible for warranty

coverage. Further, the coverage under this warranty extends only to parts that were present on the off-road equipment purchased.

The limited warranty set forth below is given by Troy-Bilt LLC with

respect to merchandise purchased and used in the United States

and/or its territories and possessions (“Troy-Bilt”).

This warranty is in addition to any applicable emissions warranty

provided with your product.

Troy-Bilt warrants this product (excluding its Normal Wear Parts,

Transmission, and Attachments as described below) against

defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years

commencing on the date of original purchase by the first purchaser

of such product and will, at its option, repair or replace, free of

charge, any part found to be defective in materials or workmanship

(“Warranty Period”). This limited warranty shall only apply if this

product has been used for non-commercial purposes and has been

operated and maintained in accordance with the Operator’s Manual

furnished with the product, and has not been subject to misuse,

abuse, commercial use, neglect, accident, improper maintenance,

alteration, vandalism, theft, fire, water, or damage because of other

peril or natural disaster. Damage resulting from the installation or

use of any part, accessory or attachment not approved by Troy-Bilt

for use with the product(s) covered by this manual will void your

warranty as to any resulting damage.

Normal Wear Parts are warranted to be free from defects in material

and workmanship for a period of thirty (30) days from the original

date of purchase. Normal wear parts include, but are not limited to

items such as: batteries, belts, blades, blade adapters, tines, grass

bags, wheels, rider deck wheels, seats, snow thrower skid shoes,

friction wheels, shave plates, auger spiral rubber and tires.

Transmission — Troy-Bilt warrants the transmission (including

all gears, shafts and housings) against defects in material and

workmanship for the life of the tiller, to the original purchaser only,

commencing on the date of original purchase or lease.

Attachments — Troy-Bilt warrants attachments for this product

against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one

(1) year, commencing on the date of the attachment’s original

purchase or lease. Attachments include, but are not limited to items

such as: grass collectors and mulch kits.

HOW TO OBTAIN SERVICE: Warranty service is available, WITH

PROOF OF PURCHASE, through your local authorized service dealer.

Registering your product is not a requirement to obtain warranty

service. To locate the dealer in your area, check your Yellow Pages,

This limited warranty does not provide coverage in the following

cases:

a. Log splitter pumps, valves, and cylinders have a separate

one- year warranty. Routine maintenance items such as lubricants,

filters, blade sharpening, tune-ups, brake adjustments, clutch

adjustments, deck adjustments, and normal deterioration of the

exterior finish due to use or exposure.

b. Service completed by someone other than an authorized

service dealer.

c. Troy-Bilt does not extend any warranty for products

sold or exported outside of the United States and its respective

possessions and territories, except those sold through Troy-Bilt’s

authorized channels of export distribution.

d. Replacement parts that are not genuine Troy-Bilt parts.

e. Transportation charges and service calls.

f. Troy-Bilt does not warrant this product for commercial

use.

No implied warranty, including any implied warranty of

merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, applies after

the applicable period of express written warranty above as to the

parts as identified. No other express warranty, whether written or

oral, except as mentioned above, given by any person or entity,

including a dealer or retailer, with respect to any product, shall bind

Troy-Bilt. During the period of the warranty, the exclusive remedy is

repair or replacement of the product as set forth above.

The provisions as set forth in this warranty provide the sole and

exclusive remedy arising from the sale. Troy-Bilt shall not be liable

for incidental or consequential loss or damage including, without

limitation, expenses incurred for substitute or replacement lawn

care services or for rental expenses to temporarily replace a

warranted product.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental

or consequential damages, or limitations on how long an implied

warranty lasts, so the above exclusions or limitations may not apply

to you.

In no event shall recovery of any kind be greater than the amount

of the purchase price of the product sold. Alteration of safety

features of the product shall void this warranty. You assume the risk

and liability for loss, damage, or injury to you and your property

and/or to others and their property arising out of the misuse or

inability to use the product.

This limited warranty extends to the original purchaser (i.e, the

first purchaser of a new product) and to a succeeding owner of the

product for non-commercial use for the duration of the warranty

beginning from the original date of purchase by the first purchaser

of such product. In the event that the original date of purchase by

the first purchaser of the product is indeterminable, the Warranty

Period shall be established as twenty-eight (28) months from the

product’s date of manufacture, as determined by Troy-Bilt. In no

event shall a product’s warranty extend beyond the established

Warranty Period.

HOW STATE LAW RELATES TO THIS WARRANTY: This limited

warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have

other rights which vary from state to state.

Capacitación

Preparativos

1. Inspeccione minuciosamente el área donde utilizará el

equipo. Quite las piedras, palos, alambres y otros objetos

extraños con los que se pueda tropezar y provocar lesiones

personales.

2. Utilice zapatos de trabajo resistentes, de suela fuerte, así

como pantalones y camisas ajustados. Las prendas sueltas

3. Antes de arrancar el motor, desenganche las palancas del

embrague y desplácelas (en caso de haber) a la posición

neutral (“N”).

5. Tenga cuidado cuando labre tierras duras. Los dientes

pueden clavarse en la tierra e impulsar la cultivadora

hacia adelante. Si esto ocurre, suelte el manubrio y deje la

máquina libre.

6. Sea sumamente precavido cuando opere la máquina sobre

una superficie con grava o cuando la cruce. Manténgase

transporte pasajeros.

7. Nunca utilice la máquina a altas velocidades de

desplazamiento sobre superficies duras o resbaladizas.

8. Tenga cuidado para evitar resbalar o caerse.

9. Mire hacia abajo y hacia atrás y tenga cuidado cuando se

desplace en marcha atrás o cuando jale de la máquina hacia

usted.

10. Arranque el motor de acuerdo con las instrucciones del

Mantenimiento y Almacenamiento

1. Mantenga la máquina, los aditamentos y accesorios en

condiciones de funcionamiento seguro.

2. Deje que la máquina se enfríe por lo menos cinco minutos

antes de guardarla. Nunca altere los dispositivos de

seguridad. Controle periódicamente que funcionen

correctamente.

3. Controle frecuentemente que todos los pernos y tornillos

estén bien ajustados para comprobar que la máquina se

encuentra en condiciones seguras de funcionamiento.

Además, haga una inspección visual de la máquina para

verificar si está dañada.

Para evitar lesiones personales o daños materiales tenga mucho

cuidado cuando trabaje con gasolina. La gasolina es sumamente

inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar explosiones. Si se

derrama gasolina encima o sobre la ropa se puede lesionar

gravemente ya que se puede incendiar. Lávese la piel y cámbiese

de ropa de inmediato.

a. Utilice sólo los recipientes para gasolina autorizados.

b. Nunca llene los recipientes en el interior de

un vehículo o camión o caja de remolque con

recubrimiento plástico. Antes de llenarlos, coloque

siempre los recipientes en el suelo y lejos del

vehículo.

c. Cuando sea factible, retire el equipo a gasolina del

camión o remolque y llénelo en el suelo. Si esto

no es posible, llene el equipo en un remolque con

un contenedor portátil, en vez de hacerlo con una

boquilla dispensadora de gasolina.

d. Mantenga la boquilla de llenado en contacto con el

borde del depósito de combustible o con la abertura

del recipiente en todo momento, hasta terminar

la carga. No utilice un dispositivo de boquilla de

apertura/cierre.

e. Apague todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y otras

fuentes de combustión.

f. Nunca cargue combustible en la máquina en un

espacio cerrado.

g. Nunca saque la tapa de la gasolina ni agregue

combustible mientras el motor está caliente o en

marcha. Deje que el motor se enfríe por lo menos dos

minutos antes de volver a cargar combustible.

h. Nunca llene en exceso el depósito de combustible.

Llene el tanque no más de ½ pulgada por debajo

de la base del cuello del tapón de carga, para dejar

espacio para la expansión del combustible.

i. Vuelva a colocar la tapa de la gasolina y ajústela bien.

j. Limpie el combustible que se haya derramado sobre

el motor y el equipo. Traslade la máquina a otra zona.

Espere 5 minutos antes de encender el motor.

k. Para reducir el riesgo de incendio, mantenga la

máquina limpia de pasto, hojas y de acumulación

de otros residuos. Limpie los derrames de aceite o

combustible y saque todos los residuos embebidos

en combustible.

l. Nunca guarde la máquina o el recipiente de

combustible en un espacio cerrado donde haya

fuego, chispas o luz piloto, como por ejemplo de

calentadores de agua, calefactores de ambientes,

hornos, secadores de ropa u otros aparatos a gas.

Funcionamiento

1. No coloque las manos ni los pies cerca de las piezas

giratorias. El contacto con la piezas giratorias puede resultar

en la amputación de manos o pies.

2. No utilice la máquina bajo la influencia del alcohol o las

drogas.

3. Nunca opere esta máquina sin buena visibilidad o

iluminación. Siempre debe estar seguro de que está bien

afirmado y sujetando firmemente las manijas.

4. Mantenga a los transeúntes alejados de la máquina mientras

la misma está en funcionamiento. Detenga la máquina si

alguien se acerca.

4. Antes de limpiar, reparar o inspeccionar la máquina,

detenga el motor y asegúrese de que los dientes y todas

las partes móviles se hayan detenido. Desconecte el cable

de la bujía y póngalo haciendo masa contra el motor para

evitar que se encienda accidentalmente.

5. No cambie la configuración del regulador del motor ni lo

opere a sobrevelocidad. El regulador del motor controla la

velocidad máxima de funcionamiento seguro del motor.

6. Mantenga o reemplace las etiquetas de seguridad e

instrucciones según sea necesario.

7. Siga las instrucciones de este manual para cargar,

descargar, transportar y almacenar de manera segura esta

máquina.

8. Si la máquina se va a almacenar por un período

prolongado, consulte siempre el manual del operador para

ver los detalles importantes que sean necesarios.

9. Si debe vaciar el tanque de combustible, hágalo al aire

libre.

10. Respete las normas referentes a la disposición correcta de

residuos y las reglamentaciones sobre gasolina, aceite, etc.

para proteger el medio ambiente.

11. Según la Comisión de Seguridad de Productos para el

Consumidor de los Estados Unidos (CPSC) y la Agencia

de Protección Ambiental de los Estados Unidos (EPA),

este producto tiene una vida útil media de siete (7) años

ó 130 horas de funcionamiento. Al finalizar la vida útil

media, adquiera una máquina nueva o haga inspeccionar

anualmente esta unidad por un distribuidor de servicio

autorizado para cerciorarse de que todos los sistemas

mecánicos y de seguridad funcionan correctamente y no

tienen excesivo desgaste. Si no lo hace, pueden producirse

accidentes, lesiones o la muerte.

Aviso referido a emisiones

Los motores que están certificados y cumplen con las

regulaciones de emisiones federales EPA y de California para

SORE (Equipos pequeños todo terreno) están certificados para

operar con gasolina común sin plomo y pueden incluir los

siguientes sistemas de control de emisiones: Modificación de

motor (EM) y catalizador de tres vías (TWC) si están equipados de

esa manera.

Amortiguador de chispas

ADVERTENCIA! Esta máquina está equipada con

un motor de combustión interna y no debe ser

utilizada en un terreno agreste cubierto por bosque,

malezas o hierba ni cerca del mismo excepto que el

sistema de escape del motor esté equipado con un

amortiguador de chispas que cumpla con las leyes

locales o estatales correspondientes (en caso de

haber).

Si se utiliza un amortiguador de chispas el operador lo debe

mantener en condiciones de uso adecuadas. En el Estado

de California las medidas anteriormente mencionadas son

exigidas por ley (Artículo 4442 del Código de Recursos Públicos

de California). Es posible que existan leyes similares en otros

estados. Las leyes federales se aplican en territorios federales.

Puede conseguir el amortiguador de chispas para el silenciador

a través de su distribuidor de mantenimiento de motores

Montaje

Dientes

Los dientes deben instalarse correctamente para asegurar un

funcionamiento adecuado. Véase más abajo para la correcta

1. Los dientes se deben instalar en la ubicación correcta y el

orden correcto . Cada diente está marcado de la siguiente

manera:

1. Retire el restante horquilla pin y la chaveta de la bolsa

manual, instalar el conjunto de la rueda en el soporte de

caja de la cadena, como se muestra en la Figura 3-3.

2. Retire los dos tornillos del soporte en el caso de la cadena.

3. Inserte el soporte horizontal en los soportes de caja de la

cadena y asegurar el conjunto de la estaca de profundidad

en su lugar con los tornillos que acaba de sacar en el paso 1.

NOTA: La estaca de profundidad se puede colocar en varias

posiciones . Para los propósitos de configuración se sugiere

que la estaca de profundidad puede montar con la estaca

justo por encima o a nivel con la superficie del suelo. Vea la

sección de Operación para obtener instrucciones sobre la

configuración de la profundidad de labranza y el ajuste de

la estaca de profundidad.

Manija

El manija está inclinado hacia abajo y se envasa suelta para

Ajustes

Ruedas

El timón se entrega con las ruedas ajustadas para que la máquina

esté nivelado. Las ruedas deben ajustarse para satisfacer sus

necesidades de labranza antes de la operación. Este ajuste

se realiza mediante la eliminación del pasador de horquilla

del soporte de caja de cadena y levantar las ruedas a la altura

deseada. Vea Figura 3-8.

Estaca de profundidad

La estaca de profundidad también se puede ajustar para ajustar

para controlar la profundidad de labranza. Para subir o bajar la

estaca de profundidad , retire el pasador de chaveta y el pasador

de horquilla lugar la estaca de profundidad en la posición

deseada y vuelva a instalar el hardware. Vea Figura 3-8.

Cable del embrague de ajuste

Antes de utilizar la caña de timón del ajuste de los cables de

embrague hacia adelante se debe comprobar.

1. Desconecte el cable de la bujía contra el motor.

2. Ajuste el cable del embrague de marcha adelante,

aflojando la tuerca hexagonal. Vea Figura 3-9.

3. Girar la sección de collar cable de una o dos vueltas para

aumentar o disminuir la tensión en el cable. Vea Figura 3-9.

4. Vuelva a apretar la tuerca de seguridad contra el collar de

cable. Vea Figura 3-9.

5. Con el mango de compromiso hacia adelante en la posición

neutral (liberado), tire de la cuerda de arranque varias veces.

Los dientes no deben girar.

6. Si se vuelven ajustar el cable del embrague hacia adelante

para liberar la tensión utilizando los pasos anteriores en

esta sección.

7. Compruebe de nuevo para la tensión correcta en el cable.

8. Después de labrar, si los dientes dejan de moverse, reajuste

los cables.

Preparar

La gasolina y el aceite de relleno

Atender el motor con gasolina y aceite como se indica en

el manual del operador del motor que se entrega con la

cultivadora. Lea las instrucciones cuidadosamente.

¡ADVERTENCIA! Tenga mucho cuidado al

manipular la gasolina. La gasolina es altamente

inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar

explosiones. Nunca agregue combustible a la

máquina en interiores o mientras el motor está

caliente o en marcha.

La palanca de embrague está situada brazo superior derecha

la trabaja y controla la profundidad y la velocidad a la que la

máquina va a funcionar.

Dientes

Los dientes se utilizan para cultivar, surco y preparar su jardín

para la siembra.

La altura del manillar se puede ajustar. Afloje la manivela para

cambiar la posición. Apriete la manivela cuando se alcanza la

altura deseada.

Funcionamiento

Arranque y detención del motor

ADVERTENCIA! Lea, comprenda y siga todas las

instrucciones y advertencias que se encuentran en la

máquina y en este manual antes de operarla.

ADVERTENCIA! Asegúrese de que nadie se

motor está funcionando o en proceso de arranque.

1. Compruebe que el control del embrague de los dientes

esté desenganchado y consulte el Manual de operación del

motor para instrucciones sobre cómo arrancar y detener el

motor.

Establecimiento de la profundidad

Retén hacia adelante

Coloque el retén de las ruedas de manera que las ruedas estén

hacia delante (punto más cercano a los dientes) para labranza

superficial, cultivo y transporte. Vea la Figura 5-1.

Retén hacia atrás

Coloque el retén de las ruedas de manera que las ruedas están

hacia atrás (punto más cercano a la estaca de profundidad) para

labranza profunda y cultivo. Vea la Figura 5-2.

La estaca de profundidad funciona como un freno de la

cultivadora y controla la profundidad y la velocidad a la cual

funciona la máquina. Retire la chaveta de horquilla y el broche

de horquilla para subir o bajar la estaca de profundidad. Vea la

Figura 5-3.

Procedimientos para realizar tareas de labranza

Es deseable una profundidad de dos a tres pulgadas para realizar

la labranza del terreno. El ancho de labranza se puede reducir a

13 pulgadas extrayendo los dientes exteriores completamente

de la cultivadora. Consulte la sección Mantenimiento y ajustes

para leer las instrucciones para retirar los dientes. Cuando trace

las hileras de plantación, asegúrese de dejar un ancho suficiente

para poder cultivar entre las hileras. Cuando cultive maíz o algún

cultivo similar, el control de las hileras de la plantación permitirá

el cultivo transversal y prácticamente eliminará la azada manual.

Otras aplicaciones

La cultivadora tiene muchas aplicaciones además de la de

labranza y cultivo de un jardín. Una de ellas es la preparación

del área para la siembra. La cultivadora preparará un lecho

de siembra profundo que no tendrá puntos duros sin labrar,

permitiendo una mejor afirmación del césped para el

crecimiento. La cultivadora es muy útil para aflojar suelos

duros y prepararlos para su excavación mediante una pala.

No es necesario realizar ninguna tediosa labor manual. La

cultivadora se puede usar para mezclar abono en acopio o para

mezclarla con el suelo del jardín. Esto se debe realizar después

de haber roturado el terreno en la totalidad de la profundidad

de trabajo. El abono se debe trabajar a una profundidad de

seis o siete pulgadas. Esto se puede realizar trabajando a lo

largo del jardín y luego haciendo varias pasadas separadas

transversales. El agregado de materia orgánica descompuesta

aumenta significativamente la fertilidad del jardín. Para una

adecuada acción de descomposición se debe aplicar fertilizante

y se debe trabajar con los materiales de abono. La mezcla de

hojas rotas y paja con varias pulgadas de suelo permite una

adecuada aireación del sistema de raíces de las plantas y retarda

el crecimiento de malezas.

Presión de las manijas

Se puede obtener un mayor control de la profundidad de la

labranza y de la velocidad de recorrido variando la presión sobre

las manijas. La presión hacia abajo sobre las manijas reduce

la profundidad del trabajo y aumenta la velocidad de marcha

directa. La presión hacia arriba sobre las manijas aumenta

la profundidad del trabajo y reduce la velocidad de marcha

directa. El tipo de suelo y las condiciones de trabajo determinan

la configuración real de la estaca de profundidad y la presión

requerida de las manijas.

Transporte y almacenamiento de la cultivadora

Para transportar y almacenar la cultivadora mueva el regulador

a la posición ‘stop’ (detención). Gire la estaca de profundidad

desde el terreno hacia arriba entre las ruedas. Vea la Figura 5-3.

Uso de la cultivadora

La cultivadora es una máquina diseñada para preparar, labrar,

abrir surcos y abonar los lechos de siembra.

Procedimiento para realizar la labranza

Durante la labranza, deje aproximadamente 8 pulgadas de suelo

sin labrar entre la primera y la segunda sendas de labranza,

luego realice una tercera senda entre la primera y la segunda,

Figura 5-4. En algunos suelos se puede obtener la profundidad

deseada la primera vez que se trabaja en el jardín. En otros

suelos, la profundidad deseada se obtiene pasando dos o tres

veces sobre el terreno del jardín. Las pasadas se deben realizar en

forma alternada a lo largo y a lo ancho del jardín. Las rocas que se

encuentren se deben retirar del área del jardín.

Mantenimiento y Ajustes

ADVERTENCIA! Desconecte el cable de la bujía y

tierra contra el motor antes de realizar cualquier

reparación.

Mantenimiento

Motor

Consulte el manual del operador del motor para obtener

instrucciones de mantenimiento del motor.

Dientes

Limpie la parte inferior del protector de dientes después de

cada uso. La suciedad se lava los dientes más fácil si se enjuaga

inmediatamente y no después de que se seque. Siempre toalla

seca el timón después y aplique una capa delgada de aceite o

silicona para evitar daños en la oxidación o el agua.

NOTA: Nunca use una “lavadora de presión” para limpiar su

timón. El agua puede penetrar en espacios reducidos de la

caña del timón y su caso de cadena y causar graves daños a la

máquina.

Lubricación

Puntos de pivote

Quite la cubierta de la correa y lubricar todos los puntos de giro

y los vínculos al menos una vez por temporada con aceite ligero.

Mantenga las correas sin lubricación.

Tine Ejes

Retire los conjuntos de dientes y lubricar los ejes de dientes por

lo menos una vez por temporada.

Los ejes de la rueda

Quite los conjuntos de rueda y lubricar los semiejes al menos una

vez por temporada.

Cadena de transmisión

El mando de la cadena está pre-lubricado y sellado en la fábrica.

Ajustes

Ajuste de cable

Consulte la sección de este manual Asamblea y Configuración

para ver las instrucciones sobre el ajuste del cable del embrague.

Dientes

Con los dientes exterior instalado, el ancho de trabajo de la

máquina es de 24”. Esta anchura se puede reducida a 22” por el

movimiento de la horquilla y pasadores, correderas cada diente

exterior hacia el interior del centro de la caña del timón y volver

a asegurar los pasadores en los orificios. La anchura también

se puede reducir a 13“ mediante la eliminación de los dientes

exteriores completamente. Vea la Figura 6-1.

Dientes Inspección

Los dientes bolo se desgasta con el uso y deben ser

inspeccionadas al inicio de cada temporada de cultivo y después

cada 30 horas de funcionamiento. Los dientes pueden ser

reemplazados individualmente o como un conjunto completo.

Vea la sección de piezas de repuesto para la identificación de

púas y los números de parte.

Con el uso, los dientes se hacen más cortos, estrechos y

puntiagudos. Dientes muy desgastados se traducirá en una

pérdida de profundidad de labranza, y la reducción de la eficacia

al cortar y convertir en materia orgánica.

Consulte la Figura 6-2 para los procedimientos siguientes de púas.

Desmontaje / instalación de un único de dientes

1. Con el motor apagado y desconectado el cable de la bujía,

quite los dos tornillos de cabeza hexagonal (⁄-16 x 1.00)

y las tuercas hexagonales de bloqueo (⁄-16) que se unen

un solo diente a un titular de dientes. Si es necesario, use

aceite penetrante de las tuercas.

2. Cuando se instala un solo diente, asegúrese de que la

posición de modo que su punta (en punto) entrará en

el suelo por primera vez como el timón se mueve hacia

adelante.

Desmontaje / instalación de un conjunto de dientes:

1. Un conjunto de dientes está formado por ocho dientes

montados sobre un soporte de dientes.

2. Si la eliminación de los dos conjuntos de dientes, marcarlos

“izquierda” y “derecha” antes de la extracción. Retire el

tornillo hexagonal (⁄-16 x 1,75) y la brida de la tuerca de

seguridad (⁄-16) que fijan el conjunto de dientes en el eje

de dientes. Si es necesario, utilice un mazo de goma para

aprovechar el conjunto de dientes hacia afuera del eje.

3. Antes de reinstalar el conjunto de dientes, inspeccione

el eje de púas para el óxido, asperezas o rebabas.

Ligeramente archivo o arena, según sea necesario. Aplique

una capa fina de grasa en el eje.

4. Instale cada conjunto de dientes para que la corte (en

punto) el borde de los dientes que penetran en el suelo

por primera vez cuando el timón se mueve hacia adelante.

Asegure el conjunto de dientes en el eje de púas con el

tornillo y la tuerca.

Fuera de temporada de almacenamiento

Si la caña no se utiliza durante un período superior a 30 días, los

siguientes pasos deben tomarse para preparar la caña para el

almacenamiento.

1. Limpie el exterior del motor y el timón todo a fondo.

Lubrique el timón tal como se describe en las instrucciones

de lubricación.

2. El uso de limpiadores a presión no se recomienda para

la limpieza de su timón. Pueden causar daños a los

componentes eléctricos, engranajes, poleas, rodamientos o

el motor. El uso de limpiadores a presión se acortará la vida

útil y reducir la capacidad de servicio.

3. Consulte el manual del motor para corregir las

instrucciones de motor de almacenamiento.

4. Limpie los dientes con un trapo aceitado para prevenir la

oxidación.

5. Tienda timón en un lugar limpio y seco. No almacenar cerca

de materiales corrosivos, como los fertilizantes.

NOTA: Cuando almacene cualquier tipo de equipo motorizado

en un área sin ventilación o galpón de depósito metálico, se debe

tener cuidado con el equipo a prueba de herrumbre. El uso de un

aceite ligero o silicona para recubrir el equipo y especialmente

con los resortes, rodamientos, cables y.

Servicio

Cambio de correa

El diseño de la cultivadora incluye una correa de material especial

(Kevlar Tracción) que le proporciona mayor duración y mejor

rendimiento. No se la debe cambiar por una correa cualquiera.

Pida todas las correas a través de su distribuidor de servicio

autorizado.

1. Desconéctelos y haga masa con el cable de la bujía contra el

motor.

2. Retire la cubierta de la correa desde el lado izquierdo de

5. Retire la correa.

6. Para instalar la nueva correa, siga las instrucciones en orden

inverso y consulte la Figura 7-4. Asegúrese de colocar el

lado más ancho de la correa lejos de las poleas del motor y

de transmisión.

NOTA: Al volver a armar, asegúrese de que el guardacorreas

SUS DERECHOS Y OBLIGACIONES EN CUANTO A LA GARANTÍA

MTD Consumer Group Inc, la Agencia de Protección Medioambiental de los Estados Unidos (EPA), y para aquellos productos certificados

para su venta en el estado de California, el Departamento de los Recursos del Aire de California (CARB) se complacen en explicar la garantía

que evaporativo sistema de control de emisiones (ECS) de su equipo (equipos de exteriores) de encendido por chispa para todo terreno,

pequeño, de exteriores del año 2015-2016. En California, los nuevos motores de equipos de exteriores deben estar diseñados, construidos y

equipados para cumplir con las estrictas normas antipolución del Estado (en otros estados, equipos de exteriores deben ser estar diseñados,

construidos y equipados para cumplir con las regulaciones de motores de encendido por chispa para todo terreno pequeños de la Agencia de

Protección Medioambiental de los Estados Unidos, (EPA). MTD Consumer Group Inc. debe garantizar el sistema de control de emisiones (ECS)

de su motor de equipos de exteriores por el período de tiempo indicado más abajo, siempre y cuando no exista uso incorrecto, negligencia o

mantenimiento inadecuado de equipos de exteriores.

Su ECS puede incluir piezas tales como el los depósitos de combustible, las líneas de combustible, los tapones de combustible, las válvulas,

contenedores, filtros, mangueras de vapor, abrazaderas, conectores y otros componentes afines relacionados con las emisiones.

Donde exista una condición cubierta por la garantía, MTD Consumer Group Inc. reparará de equipos de exteriores sin costo alguno incluyendo

el diagnóstico, las piezas y la mano de obra.

COBERTURA DE LA GARANTÍA DEL FABRICANTE:

Este sistema de control de emisiones se garantiza por el término de dos años. Si alguna pieza relacionada con las emisiones de su motor de

equipos de exteriores es defectuosa, MTD CONSUMER GROUP INC. reparará o sustituirá dicha pieza.

RESPONSABILIDADES DEL PROPIETARIO SEGÚN LA GARANTÍA:

En su carácter de propietario de equipos de exteriores, usted es responsable del mantenimiento requerido que se especifica en el manual del

propietario. MTD Consumer Group Inc le recomienda que conserve todos los recibos que cubren el mantenimiento de equipos de exteriores,

obstante lo cual MTD Consumer Group Inc no podrá denegar el cumplimiento de la garantía únicamente por la falta de los recibos.

Como propietario de equipos de exteriores, usted debe saber que MTD Consumer Group Inc. puede denegar la cobertura de la garantía si

su equipos de exteriores o una pieza del mismo fallan debido a uso incorrecto, negligencia, mantenimiento indebido o a modificaciones no

aprobadas.

Usted es responsable de presentar su equipos de exteriores al centro de distribución o servicio técnico de MTD Consumer Group Inc. tan pronto

como aparezca el problema. Las reparaciones cubiertas por la garantía se deben llevar a cabo en un lapso razonable que no exceda de 30

COBERTURA DE LA GARANTÍA DE EMISIONES GENERALES:

MTD Consumer Group Inc garantiza al comprador final y a cada comprador subsiguiente que el equipos de exteriores: está diseñado,

construido y equipado de modo de cumplir con todas las regulaciones aplicables y que se encuentra libre de defectos de materiales y de

fabricación que pudieren causar la falla de una pieza garantizada idéntica, en todos los aspectos materiales a la pieza descripta en la solicitud

de certificación de MTD Consumer Group Inc.

El período de garantía comienza en la fecha de entrega del equipos de exteriores al comprador final o en la fecha en que la máquina se pone en

funcionamiento por primera vez. El período de garantía es de dos años.

Sujeto a ciertas condiciones y exclusiones que se indican a continuación, la garantía de las piezas relacionadas con las emisiones es la siguiente:

1. Cualquier pieza garantizada que no esté programada para ser reemplazada como parte del mantenimiento requerido en las instrucciones

escritas suministradas se garantiza por el período de garantía arriba mencionado. Si la pieza falla durante el período de cobertura de la

garantía, la misma será reparada o reemplazada por MTD Consumer Group Inc. de acuerdo con el párrafo (4) a continuación. Cualquier

pieza reparada o reemplazada según la garantía se garantizará por el resto del período de garantía.

2. Cualquier pieza garantizada que esté programada solamente para inspección regular en las instrucciones escritas suministradas se

garantiza por el período de garantía arriba mencionado. Cualquier pieza reparada o reemplazada según la garantía se garantizará por el

resto del período.

3. Cualquier pieza garantizada que esté programada para reemplazo según el mantenimiento requerido de conformidad con las

instrucciones escritas suministradas, se garantiza por el período de tiempo anterior a la primera fecha de reemplazo programada para esa

pieza. Si la pieza falla antes del primer reemplazo programado, la misma será reparada o reemplazada por MTD Consumer Group Inc. de

acuerdo con el párrafo (4) a continuación. Cualquier pieza reparada o reemplazada bajo garantía se garantizará por el resto del período

anterior al primer reemplazo programado puntual para esa pieza.

4. La reparación o el reemplazo de cualquier pieza garantizada de conformidad con las disposiciones de la garantía que aquí se estipula se

deben realizar en un centro de garantía sin costo alguno para el propietario.

5. No obstante las disposiciones que aquí se estipulan, los servicios o reparaciones bajo garantía se suministrarán en todos nuestros centros

de distribución bajo franquicia de mantenimiento para los motores o equipos en cuestión.

6. El propietario de equipos de exteriores no deberá pagar el trabajo de diagnóstico directamente asociado con una pieza garantizada

defectuosa en relación con las emisiones, siempre y cuando dicho trabajo de diagnóstico se realice en un centro cubierto por la garantía.

7. MTD Consumer Group Inc es responsable por daños causados a otros componentes de motores o equipos derivados de la falla bajo

garantía de cualquier pieza garantizada.

8. Durante la totalidad del período de garantía del motor y equipo para todo terreno arriba mencionado, MTD Consumer Group Inc

mantendrá un suministro

de piezas bajo garantía suficiente para satisfacer la demanda esperada de tales piezas.

9. Cualquier pieza de reemplazo se podrá usar para el cumplimiento del mantenimiento o las reparaciones bajo garantía y se suministrarán

sin cargo para

el propietario. Dicho uso no reducirá las obligaciones de garantía de MTD Consumer Group Inc.

10. No se podrán usar piezas adicionales ni modificadas que no estén exentas de acuerdo con el Departamento de los Recursos del Aire

(Air Resources Board). El uso de cualquier pieza adicional o modificada no exenta por el comprador final será causal de invalidez de los

reclamos bajo garantía. MTD Consumer Group Inc no tendrá responsabilidad por la garantía de fallas de piezas garantizadas que fueren

causadas por el uso de una pieza adicional no exenta

o modificada.

PIEZAS GARANTIZADAS:

La reparación o el reemplazo de cualquier pieza garantizada que de otro modo pudiese estar cubierta por la garantía podrá ser excluida de

tal cobertura de garantía si MTD Consumer Group Inc demuestra que el equipos de exteriores es objeto de uso incorrecto, negligencia o

mantenimiento inadecuado, y que tal uso incorrecto, negligencia o mantenimiento inadecuado fue causa directa de la necesidad de reparación

o reemplazo de dicha pieza. No obstante lo antedicho, cualquier ajuste de un componente con un dispositivo de limitación de ajuste instalado

en fábrica y que funcione adecuadamente, podrá ser cubierto por la garantía. Además, la cobertura bajo esta garantía se extiende solo a piezas

que estuvieron presentes en y equipo todo terreno adquiridos.

Están cubiertas las siguientes piezas con garantía para emisiones (de corresponder):

1. Sistema de medición de combustible

• Bomba de combustible

• Depósito de combustible

2. Control evaporativo

• Manguera de combustible

• Abrazaderas de la manguera de combustible

• Tapón del combustible atado por correa

• Caja de carbono

• Líneas de vapor

GARANTÍA LIMITADA DEL FABRICANTE PARA

La siguiente garantía limitada es otorgada por Troy-Bilt LLC respecto de

mercadería adquirida y utilizada en los Estados Unidos, sus posesiones y

territorios (“Troy-Bilt”).

Esta garantía complementa cualquier garantía contra emisiones vigente

que se suministre con su producto.

“Troy-Bilt" garantiza este producto (excluidas sus Piezas con Desgaste

Normal, la Transmisión y los Accesorios según se describe más abajo)

contra defectos en los materiales y la mano de obra durante un período

de dos (2) años a partir de la fecha de compra original por el primer

comprador de dicho producto y, a discreción, reparará o reemplazará,

sin costo alguno, cualquier pieza que presente defectos en los

materiales o la mano de obra ("Período de la Garantía"). Esta garantía

limitada sólo se aplicará si el presente producto se ha usado para

fines no comerciales y se ha utilizado y mantenido de acuerdo con las

instrucciones del Manual del Operador que se entrega con el producto y

no ha sido objeto de uso indebido, mal uso, uso comercial, negligencia,

accidente, mantenimiento inadecuado, modificación, vandalismo, robo,

incendio, inundación o daños debidos a otro peligro o desastre natural.

Los daños que resulten de la instalación o el uso de piezas, accesorios

o aditamentos no aprobados por Troy-Bilt para usar con los productos

incluidos en este manual anularán la garantía en lo que respecta a esos

daños.

Se garantiza que las piezas con desgaste normal están libres de

defectos en los materiales y en la mano de obra por un período de

treinta (30) días a partir de la fecha de compra original. Las piezas

sujetas a desgaste normal incluyen, entre otras, componentes como:

baterías, correas, cuchillas, adaptadores para cuchillas, dientes, bolsas

para césped, ruedas, rueditas de la plataforma del tractor, asientos,

zapatas antideslizantes, ruedas de fricción, placas de raspado, gomas

helicoidales y neumáticos.

Transmisión — Troy-Bilt garantiza la transmisión (incluidos todos los

engranajes, ejes y alojamientos) contra defectos en los materiales y la

mano de obra durante la vida útil de la cultivadora, para el comprador

original solamente, a partir de la fecha de alquiler o compra original.

Accesorios — Troy-Bilt garantiza los accesorios para este producto

colectores de césped o kits de abono.

Esta garantía limitada no suministra cobertura en los siguientes casos:

a. Los cilindros, las válvulas y las bombas de la máquina

rompetroncos tienen una garantía separada de un año. Los elementos

de mantenimiento de rutina como por ejemplo lubricantes, filtros,

afiladores de cuchillas, puesta a punto del motor, ajustes de frenos, del

embrague o de la plataforma, y el deterioro normal del acabado exterior

debido al uso o la exposición.

b. Servicio realizado por otra persona distinta al distribuidor

autorizado para el mantenimiento.

c. Troy-Bilt no extiende ninguna garantía para los productos

vendidos o exportados fuera de los Estados Unidos y sus posesiones y

territorios respectivos, excepto para aquellos vendidos a través de los

canales autorizados de distribución de exportaciones de Troy-Bilt.

d. Los repuestos que no son piezas originales de Troy-Bilt.

e. Gastos de transporte y llamadas por servicios técnicos.

f. Troy-Bilt no garantiza este producto para uso comercial.

No se otorgan garantías implícitas, incluidas las garantías implícitas

de comerciabilidad o de adecuación para un propósito determinado,

después del período de garantía escrita expresa aplicable antes

mencionada para las piezas ya identificadas. Ninguna otra garantía

expresa, sea oral o escrita, excepto la mencionada anteriormente,

extendida por personas físicas o jurídicas, incluidos los distribuidores o

los minoristas con respecto a los productos, obligará a Troy-Bilt. Durante

el plazo de la garantía el único recurso es la reparación o el reemplazo

del producto como se indicó precedentemente.

Las disposiciones de esta garantía cubren el recurso de reparación

única y exclusiva que surge de la venta. Troy-Bilt no se hará responsable

de las pérdidas o los daños indirectos o emergentes, incluyendo sin

limitación, los gastos incurridos para sustituir o reemplazar los servicios

de mantenimiento del césped, o los gastos de arrendamiento con el

Algunos estados no permiten la exclusión o limitación de los daños y

perjuicios incidentales o directos, ni las limitaciones sobre la duración

de las garantías implícitas, por lo que las exclusiones o limitaciones

antes mencionadas pueden no ser de aplicación en su caso.

En ningún caso se obtendrá una compensación mayor al monto

del precio de compra del producto vendido. La modificación de las

características de seguridad del producto anulará esta garantía. Usted

asume el riesgo y la responsabilidad por las pérdidas, daños o lesiones

personales o materiales propios o de terceros que surjan del uso

indebido o la incapacidad de usar este producto.

Esta garantía limitada se extiende al comprador original (es decir: el

primer comprador de un producto nuevo) y a al propietario siguiente

del producto para uso no comercial durante el período de garantía

a partir de la fecha original de compra por el primer comprador del

producto. En caso de que la fecha original de compra por el primer

comprador del producto fuese indeterminable, el período de garantía

se establecerá como veintiocho (28) meses a partir de la fecha de

fabricación del producto, según lo determine Troy-Bilt. En ningún caso

la garantía del producto se extenderá más allá del período de garantía

establecido.

CÓMO AFECTA LA LEGISLACIÓN ESTATAL A ESTA GARANTÍA: Esta

garantía limitada le otorga derechos legales específicos, pero además

usted podría gozar de otros derechos que varían de acuerdo a su lugar

de residencia.
