GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

It's important to read and understand these instruc-

tions fully before using tool. Failure to follow these

instructions may result in electric shock, ﬁre and/or

serious personal injury.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

WORK AREA

Keep your work area clean and well lit. Accidents may

result from cluttered benches and dark areas. Do not

operate power tool in explosive atmospheres, such as

in the presence of ﬂammable liquids, gases or heavy

thick dust. Power tools create sparks, which may

ignite such substances. Keep bystanders, children and

visitors away while operating tool. Such distractions

can cause loss of control.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

• This power tool is equipped with a polarized plug that

will ﬁt in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug

does not ﬁt fully into the outlet, reverse the plug and

try again. If it still does not ﬁt, contact a qualiﬁed

electrician to install a polarized outlet. Do not attempt

to change the plug in any way.

• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as

pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. The risk of

electric shock increases from body contact with such

grounded surfaces.

• Don’t expose power tool to rain or wet conditions.

Water also increases the risk of electric shock.

• Do not abuse the cord, such by using it to carry the

power tool or pulling on it to remove the plug from

the outlet. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp

edges or moving parts. Immediately replace cord if

damaged to avoid risk of electric shock.

PERSONAL SAFETY

• Stay alert and use common sense when operating

power tool. Do not use tool if tired or under the

inﬂuence of drugs, alcohol or medication. Operating

power tools under such conditions may result in

serious injury.

• Dress properly, do not wear loose clothing or jewelry.

Avoid getting clothing, jewelry and gloves caught in

moving parts.

• Avoid accidental starting by making sure switch is

turned OFF before plugging cord in to the outlet. Do

not carry tool while ﬁnger is on the ON/OFF switch or

when tool is plugged in.

• Remove adjusting keys or wrenches before turning

the tool ON. A wrench or key that is left attached to a

rotating tool part may result in personal injury.

• Do not overreach while handling tool. Keep proper

footing and balance at all times to maintain proper

control in unexpected situations.

• Use recommended safety equipment at all times

during use.

TOOL USE AND CARE

• Use clamps or another practical alternative to secure

and support the workpiece to a stable platform.

Holding the work by hand or against the body is

unstable and may lead to loss of control.

• Do not force tool by using it for unacceptable applica-

tions. The correct tool will do a better and safer job at

the rate it was designed.

• Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn ON

or OFF. Any tool that cannot be controlled with

the switch is dangerous and must be repaired or

replaced.

• Disconnect the plug from the power source before

making any adjustments, changing accessories or

storing the tool. Such preventive safety measures

reduce the risk of starting the tool accidentally.

• STORE IDLE TOOLS OUT OF REACH FROM

CHILDREN and other untrained persons. Power tools

are dangerous in the hands of the unfamiliar.

• Maintain tools with care, keeping cutting tools sharp

and clean. Properly maintained tools with sharp

cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to

control.

• Check for misalignment, binding of moving parts,

breakage of parts or any other condition that may

affect the operation of the tool. If damaged, have the

tool serviced before using.

IMPORTANT: POORLY MAINTAINED TOOLS CAN

CAUSE ACCIDENTS.

SPECIFIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

DANGER! KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM CUTTING AREA

AND BLADE. KEEP BODY POSITIONED TO EITHER

SIDE OF THE BLADE, BUT NOT DIRECTLY IN LINE

WITH THE BLADE.

• Do not reach underneath the work. The guard cannot

protect the body from the blade below the work.

• Never hold work piece being cut in hands or across

legs. It is important to support the work properly to

minimize body exposure, blade binding or loss of

control.

• Hold tool with an insulated, gripping surface when

performing an operation where the cutting tool may

come in contact with hidden wiring or its own cord.

• When ripping, always use a rip fence or straight edge

guide. This improves the accuracy of the cut and

reduces the chance of blade binding.

• Always use blades correct in size and shape. Blades

that do not match the mounting hardware of the tool

will run eccentrically, causing loss of control.

• Never use damaged or incorrect blade washers or

bolts. The blade washers and bolts are especially

designed for the tool to ensure optimal performance

and safety of operation.

CAUSE AND OPERATOR PREVENTION OF KICKBACK

• Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched, bound

or misaligned blade, causing the uncontrolled tool to

lift up and out of the work piece toward the operator.

When the blade is pinched or bound tightly by the

kerfs closing down, the blade stalls and the motor

reaction drives the unit rapidly back toward the

operator.

• If the blade becomes twisted or misaligned in the

cut, the teeth at the back edge of the blade can dig

into the top surface of the wood causing the blade to

climb out of the kerfs and jump toward operator.

• Kickback is the result of tool misuse and/or incorrect

operating procedures or conditions and can be

avoided by taking proper precautions.

• When blade is binding, or when interrupting a cut

for any reason, release the trigger and hold the saw

motionless while in contact with the material until

the blade comes to a complete stop. Never attempt

to remove the saw from the work or pull the saw

backward while the blade is in motion, for a kickback

may occur. Investigate and take corrective actions to

eliminate the cause of blade binding.

• When restarting the tool in the work piece, center

the blade in the kerfs and check that the teeth of the

blade are not engaged into the material. If blade is

binding, it may walk up or kickback from the work

piece once the tool is restarted.

• Support large panels to minimize the risk of blade

pinching and kickback. Large panels tend to sag

under their own weight. Supports must be placed

under the panel on both sides, near the line of cut

and near the edge of the panel.

• Do not use dull or damaged blades. Unsharpened or

improper blades may produce narrow kerfs causing

excessive friction, blade binding and kickback.

• Blade depth and bevel-adjusting locking levers must

be tight and secure before making a cut. If the blade

adjustment shifts while cutting, binding and kickback

may occur.

• Use extra caution when making cuts into walls or

other blind areas. The protruding blade may cut

objects that can cause kickback.

OR TURBO BLADES. USE ONLY CONTINUOUS RIM

BLADES WITH TOOL. KEEP HANDS AWAY FROM AND

TO THE SIDE OF THE BLADE. CONTACT WITH THE

BLADE WILL RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY.

TOOL PRECAUTIONS

• Make sure tool is connected to the correct voltage as

marked on nameplate.

• Always wear hearing protection, safety glasses and

dust mask.

• Never touch the moving parts or blade during use.

• Never start a tool when its rotating components are

in contact with the work piece.

• Check the blade carefully for any damage before use.

If blade is cracked or damaged, replace immediately.

• Never lay a tool down before its moving parts have

come to a complete stop.

• Keep the cord away from the cutting area and

position it so that it will not get caught on the work

piece.

• Never attempt to cut with the tool held upside down

in vise. This will lead to serious injury.

• Be sure motor has reached maximum speed before

cutting.

• It is extremely dangerous to point the cutting surface

toward any person.

• Lead from lead-based paints

• Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other

masonry products

• Arsenic and chromium from chemically-treated

lumber

Your risk from these exposures varies, depending on

how often you do this type of work. To reduce your

exposure to these chemicals: work in well ventilated

area, and work with approved safety equipment, such

as those dust masks that are speciﬁcally designed to

ﬁlter out microscopic particles.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

DIAMOND BLADE INSTALLATION AND REMOVAL

WARNING! BEFORE INSTALLING OR REMOVING

BLADE, TURN THE POWER SUPPLY OFF. FAILURE TO

DO SO MAY RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL STARTING OF

THE TOOL, WHICH MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY.

• To remove the blade, grip the outside ﬂange with a

box wrench and turn the socket wrench clockwise.

• To install the blade, mount the blade and secure it by

gripping the ﬂange with a box wrench and turning the

socket wrench counterclockwise.

TRIGGER (ON/OFF)

Your tool starts and stops by depressing and releasing

the trigger. Depressing the trigger starts the tool.

Releasing the trigger stops the tool.

DEPTH OF CUT

Loosen the wing nut on the angle plate and move the

base up or down to the desired depth, then secure the

base by tightening the wing nut.

ANGLE OF CUT

Loosen the wing nut on the depth guide and move the

tool body to the desired angle, then secure the body by

tightening the wing nut.

OPERATING

Place the tool base on the work piece without making

contact with the blade. Start to smoothly move the tool

after turning it ON to reach maximum speed. Move the

blade slowly forward until the cut is complete and to

keep the cutting line straight.

REMOVING AND INSTALLING BLADE

Always ensure the tool is switched OFF and unplugged

before removing or installing the blade. To remove the

blade, grip the outside ﬂange with a box wrench and

turn the socket wrench clockwise. To install, follow the

removal procedures in reverse.

REPLACING CARBON BRUSHES

Remove and check the carbon brushes regularly.

Replace when the carbon brushes are worn to about

6mm or less. Keep the carbon brushes clean to ensure

unrestricted movement in the holder. Both carbon

brushes should be replaced at the same time. Use a

screwdriver to remove the brush caps and to replace

the worn carbon brushes. Secure the brush caps after

inserting new brushes.

INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD GENERALES

Es importante leer y comprender estas instrucciones

completamente antes de usar la herramienta. En caso de

no seguirlas, pueden ocurrir choques eléctricos, incendios

y/o graves lesiones personales.

GUARDE ESTAS INSTRUCCIONES.

ÁREA DE TRABAJO

Mantenga el área de trabajo limpia y bien iluminada. Los

bancos de trabajo desordenados y las zonas oscuras

pueden ser causa de accidentes. No opere la herramienta

eléctrica en atmósferas explosivas (por ejemplo, en

presencia de líquidos inﬂamables, gases o nubes de polvo

densas). Las herramientas eléctricas generan chispas,

que pueden encender dichas sustancias. Mantenga a

los observadores, los niños y los visitantes alejados de

las herramientas en funcionamiento. Las distracciones

pueden provocar una pérdida del control.

SEGURIDAD ELÉCTRICA

• Esta herramienta eléctrica está equipada con un enchufe

polarizado que sólo puede insertarse en un tomacor-

riente del mismo tipo, de una sola manera. Si el enchufe

no puede ser insertado completamente en el tomacor-

riente, inviértalo y pruebe nuevamente. Si aún así no

puede insertarlo, comuníquese con un electricista

caliﬁcado para que instale un tomacorriente polarizado.

No intente modiﬁcar el enchufe de ninguna manera.

• Evite el contacto del cuerpo con superﬁcies conectadas a

tierra, tales como tuberías, radiadores, hornos eléctricos

y refrigeradores. El riesgo de choque eléctrico aumenta

SEGURIDAD PERSONAL

USO Y CUIDADO DE LA HERRAMIENTA

• Utilice abrazaderas o algún otro método adecuado para

asegurar y sostener la pieza de trabajo sobre una plataforma

estable. El hecho de sostener la pieza con la mano o contra el

cuerpo signiﬁca una condición inestable y puede conducir a la

pérdida del control.

• No fuerce la herramienta utilizándola en aplicaciones inacept-

ables. La herramienta correcta realiza el trabajo de la manera

mejor y más segura, a la velocidad adecuada.

• No utilice la herramienta si el interruptor no la ENCIENDE

o no la APAGA. Cualquier herramienta que no pueda ser

controlada por el interruptor es peligrosa y debe ser reparada

o reemplazada.

• Desconecte el enchufe de la fuente de alimentación antes

de realizar cualquier ajuste, cambiar accesorios o guardar la

herramienta. Estas medidas de seguridad preventivas reducen

el riesgo de poner en marcha la herramienta accidentalmente.

• GUARDE LAS HERRAMIENTAS QUE NO ESTÉN EN USO

• Mantenga las herramientas en buenas condiciones, y las

herramientas de corte aﬁladas y limpias. Las herramientas

con bordes de corte aﬁlados, adecuadamente mantenidas,

tienen menor probabilidad de atascarse y son más fáciles

de controlar.

• Compruebe que la herramienta no tenga desalineaciones,

que sus piezas móviles no estén atascadas y que no tenga

piezas rotas o alguna otra condición que pueda afectar su

funcionamiento. Si está dañada, hágala reparar antes de

usarla.

IMPORTANTE: LAS HERRAMIENTAS CON MAL MANTEN-

IMIENTO PUEDEN PROVOCAR ACCIDENTES.

INSTRUCCIONES DE SEGURIDAD

ESPECÍFICAS

¡PELIGRO! MANTENGA LAS MANOS ALEJADAS DE

LA ZONA DE CORTE Y DE LA HOJA. MANTENGA

EL CUERPO A UN LADO DE LA HOJA, Y NO

DIRECTAMENTE FRENTE A ELLA.

• No se estire para alcanzar la zona debajo del área de

trabajo. El protector no puede proteger al usuario de la

porción de la hoja ubicada bajo el área de trabajo.

• Nunca sostenga en las manos o en las piernas una

pieza de trabajo que está siendo cortada. Es importante

sostenerla de manera adecuada, para minimizar la

exposición del cuerpo, el atascamiento de la hoja y la

pérdida de control.

• Al realizar operaciones en las cuales la herramienta de

corte pueda entrar en contacto con cables ocultos o

con su propio cable, sostenga la herramienta con una

superﬁcie de agarre aislada.

• Al cortar a lo largo de la veta de la madera, utilice

siempre canales o bordes de guía. De esta manera

aumenta la precisión del corte y se reduce la posibilidad

de que la hoja se atasque.

• Utilice siempre hojas del tamaño adecuado cuya forma

corresponda al eje motriz. Las hojas que no coincidan

con el sistema de montaje de la herramienta girarán

excéntricamente, lo que produce pérdida de control.

• Nunca utilice arandelas o pernos dañados o incorrectos.

Las arandelas y los pernos de la hoja están diseñados

especialmente para la herramienta, a ﬁn de asegurar un

rendimiento adecuado y garantizar la seguridad de la

operación.

CAUSAS Y PREVENCIÓN DEL MOVIMIENTO DE

REACCIÓN

• La reacción de una herramienta es un movimiento

repentino como consecuencia de una hoja retenida,

inmovilizada o mal alineada. Hace que la herramienta se

levante y salga de la pieza de trabajo, impulsada hacia

el operador. Cuando la hoja es retenida o inmovilizada

fuertemente por estrechamiento del canal de corte, la

hoja se sacude y la reacción del motor impulsa la unidad

rápidamente hacia atrás, hacia el operador.

• Si la hoja se retuerce o queda desalineada con respecto

al canal de corte, los dientes del borde posterior de la

hoja pueden penetrar en la superﬁcie superior de la

madera y hacer que la hoja salga del canal y salte hacia

el operador.

• La reacción de la herramienta es consecuencia del mal

uso de la misma, y/o de no seguir los procedimientos

operativos correctos o no trabajar con las condiciones

adecuadas, y pueden evitarse tomando las precauciones

correspondientes.

• Cuando la hoja se atasca o si el corte se interrumpe

por cualquier motivo, suelte el gatillo y sostenga la

sierra inmóvil mientras se encuentre en contacto con

el material, hasta que la hoja se detenga por completo.

No intente nunca retirar la sierra del área de trabajo o

tirar de ella hacia atrás mientras la hoja se encuentre

en movimiento, pues podría ocurrir un movimiento de

reacción. Investigue las causas del atascamiento de la

hoja y tome las medidas necesarias para evitarlo.

• Al continuar trabajando con la herramienta en la pieza,

centre la hoja en el canal de corte y compruebe que

los dientes de la hoja no estén en contacto con el

material. Si la hoja se atasca, puede ascender o tener un

movimiento de reacción desde la pieza de trabajo una vez

que la herramienta vuelva a ponerse en marcha.

• Los paneles grandes deben ser sostenidos para

minimizar el riesgo de inmovilizar la hoja y de reacción

de la herramienta. Los paneles grandes tienden a

combarse por su propio peso. Es necesario colocar

soportes bajo los paneles, a ambos lados, cerca de la

línea de corte y junto a los bordes del panel.

• No utilice hojas gastadas o dañadas. Las hojas sin ﬁlo y

las hojas incorrectas pueden producir canales de corte

muy angostos y causar un exceso de fricción, atasca-

miento de la hoja y reacción de la herramienta.

• Las palancas de traba que gradúan la profundidad de la

hoja y su ángulo deben estar ajustadas y ﬁrmes antes de

iniciar el corte. Si el ajuste de la hojacambia durante el

corte, la hoja podría atascarse y la herramienta tener un

movimiento de reacción.

• Tenga mucho cuidado al realizar cortes a ciegas en

paredes u otras zonas sin visibilidad. La hoja sobresale

PRECAUCIONES PARA LA HERRAMIENTA

• Asegúrese de que la herramienta esté conectada al

voltaje adecuado, el cual se indica en la chapa de

identiﬁcación.

• Utilice siempre protección para los oídos, lentes de

seguridad y máscara contra polvo.

• Nunca toque las piezas móviles o la hoja durante el uso.

• Nunca ponga en marcha una herramienta cuando sus

componentes rotativos se encuentren en contacto con la

pieza de trabajo.

• Revise la hoja cuidadosamente para comprobar que no

tenga daños antes del uso. Si la hoja está ﬁsurada o

dañada, reemplácela de inmediato.

• Nunca apoye una herramienta antes de que sus piezas

móviles se hayan detenido por completo.

• Mantenga el cable alejado del área de corte y ubíquelo de

modo que no sea atrapado por la pieza de trabajo.

• Nunca intente cortar con la herramienta sostenida en

posición invertida en una morsa. Esto provocará lesiones

graves.

• Asegúrese de que el motor haya alcanzado su máxima

velocidad antes de comenzar el corte.

Algunos ejemplos de estas sustancias

químicas son:

• Plomo derivado de pinturas a base de plomo.

• Sílice cristalino de los ladrillos, cementos y otros tipos de

productos de albañería.

• Arsénico y cromo de madera tratada con sustancias

químicas.

El riesgo de exposición a éstas situaciones varía,

dependiendo de cuantas veces se hace este tipo de

trabajo. Para reducir el contacto con estas sustancias

químicas: trabaje en lugares bien ventilados y con equipos

aprobados para la protección, como mascarillas para

el polvo que son diseñadas especiﬁcamente para ﬁltrar

partículas microscopias.

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN

INSTALACIÓN Y REMOCIÓN DE LA HOJA DE

DIAMANTE

¡ADVERTENCIA! ANTES DE INSTALAR O RETIRAR LA

HOJA, APAGUE LA FUENTE DE ALIMENTACIÓN. EN CASO

CONTRARIO, LA HERRAMIENTA PUEDE PONERSE EN

MARCHA ACCIDENTALMENTE, Y PROVOCAR LESIONES-

GRAVES.

• Para retirar la hoja, sujete la brida externa con una llave

de tubo y gire la llave de cubo hacia la derecha.

• Para instalar la hoja, móntela y asegúrela sujetando la

brida con una llave de tubo y girando la llave de cubo

hacia la izquierda.

GATILLO (ENCENDIDO/APAGADO)

La herramienta se pone en marcha y se detiene

oprimiendo y soltando el gatillo. Al oprimirlo, la

herramienta arranca. Al soltarlo, la herramienta se detiene.

PROFUNDIDAD DE CORTE

Aﬂoje la tuerca de aletas en la placa angular y retire la

base subiéndola o bajándola hasta obtener la profundidad

deseada. Luego, asegúrela ajustando la tuerca de aletas.

ÁNGULO DE CORTE

Aﬂoje la tuerca de aletas en la guía de profundidad y

desplace el cuerpo de la herramienta hasta obtener el

ángulo deseado. Luego, asegure el cuerpo ajustando la

tuerca de aletas.

OPERACIÓN

Coloque la base de la herramienta sobre la pieza de trabajo

sin hacer contacto con la hoja. Después de ENCENDER la

herramienta, comience a moverla suavemente hasta que

alcance la velocidad máxima. Desplace la hoja lentamente

hacia adelante hasta completar el corte, para mantener la

línea de corte recta.

REMOCIÓN E INSTALACIÓN DE LA HOJA

Asegúrese siempre de que la herramienta esté APAGADA

y desenchufada antes de retirar o instalar la hoja. Para

retirar la hoja, sujete la brida externa con una llave de tubo

y gire la llave de cubo hacia la derecha. Para instalarla,

siga los procedimientos de remoción en orden inverso.

REEMPLAZO DE LAS ESCOBILLAS

Retire las escobillas y revise su condición periódicamente.

Reemplácelas cuando estén gastadas y midan 6mm o

menos. Manténgalas limpias para que puedan moverse sin

restricciones dentro del soporte. Ambas escobillas deben

reemplazarse al mismo tiempo. Utilice un destornillador

para quitar las tapas de las escobillas y reemplazar las

escobillas gastadas. Asegure las tapas después de insertar

escobillas nuevas.

• No intente realizar ningún ajuste mientras la herramienta

esté funcionando.

• Siempre retire el cable eléctrico de la fuente de

alimentación antes de cambiar piezas, lubricar la

herramienta o al trabajar en la unidad, para evitar la

posibilidad de lesiones graves.

• Mantenga la herramienta eliminando el polvo acumulado.
