Your Warranty

Your system comes with a warranty. Make sure you re-

ceive the warranty registration card and proof of purchase

from your dealer indicating the product was installed by

an authorized Directed dealer. Please validate it online at

www.prodregister.com/directed or complete and return the warranty

registration card.

Getting Started

Due to transit and storage time prior to your purchase, the battery

charge may have depleted. To ensure proper operation, check the

battery level and connect the battery charger if not fully charged.

Charging the remote control:

1. Plug the AC adapter into a 110V AC outlet. Insert the mini-USB

connector into the mini-USB port located on the side of the

remote control. The text ﬁeld will display

CHARGE

to indicate

the remote control is charging (The remote remains operational

while charging and can command the system).

Feature Description

Internal Antenna Used for transmitting and receiving information

Display Status screen - the upper portion of the display contains status

icons for the System, Remote Start and Remote Control.

Text field - the lower portion of display - shows the Clock,

Runtime or Temperature during Remote Start, as well as

Command confirmations, Page messages and programming

menus

Command buttons (4) Used to perform Locking, Unlocking, auxiliary channel and

remote start commands

Function button Used to access function levels for commands, configura-

tion menus for programming, Car Selection, and to request

reports.

Mini-USB Port The battery charger plugs into this port.

Control Center

The Control Center, typically located on the upper part of the front

windshield sends and receives commands or messages to and from

your system. It consists of:

s The In-vehicle system antenna, for 2 way communication.

s The Status LED, as a visual indicator of the system’s status.

s The Control button, for placing the system into Valet Mode*and

to perform the Emergency Override* operation.

System Status

Locked: The system is locked.

Locked: The system is Locked in Valet.

Unlocked: The system is Unlocked.

Unlocked: The system is Unlocked in Valet.

Remote Start

Remote start is active, the engine is running.

Timer mode is On; Remote Start is On.

Note: When the icon is without an arrow head: Timer mode is

enabled: Remote Start is Off

Manual Transmission Start mode is enabled, the engine can

Using your System

Commands and Conﬁrmations

Commands, Basic or Advanced, are used to activate system features

and are performed by pressing one of the Command buttons. Basic

commands control the most often used and remote start features while

Advanced commands control more specialized features and request

reports. Conﬁrmations for Basic or Advanced commands are indi-

cated ﬁrst by horn honks and parking light ﬂashes, and then by Text,

Icons and beeps or tones on the remote control. A description of each

feature conﬁrmation is found in the online guide.

Performing Commands

Perform Basic commands by pressing one of the command buttons

while in the Direct Access level. Direct access is available while the

text ﬁeld displays the Clock, Temperature or Runtime. Perform Ad-

vanced commands by pressing one of the command buttons after ac-

cessing one of the Function Levels. Function Levels are available when

the text ﬁeld displays LEVEL 1,2,3 or 4.

system normally.

If the door was open when locking, you are notiﬁed of an active zone

immediately after locking the system. The horn in the vehicle “honks”

again. The 2-way remote control sounds a short “error” tone, and the

LCD displays the door icon.

Note: the optional door input and horn honk must be connected for

the system to give notiﬁcation.

To Lock and Panic

Press and hold

The system Locks (or Locks in Valet) and, after 2 seconds, sounds

the horn and ﬂashes the parking lights. The

cuit will also automatically activate 10 seconds after remote starting if

the temperature is below 55°F.

Conﬁguring your System

You can customize the way the Responder LC remote communicates

information and adjust a variety of system features in the Main Menu.

Navigating menus and options

Navigating menus and features, changing options, and exiting are

performed using the remote control buttons. The following instructions

discuss how to access and conﬁgure the settings.

s To access menus, set options, and to perform actions that are

displayed in the text ﬁeld, use the

button.

s To scroll the menu lists in the text ﬁeld use the

Access menu items

1. Press and hold the button for 8 seconds, the remote will beep

Battery Information (1-Way)

The 1- way companion remote is powered by one 3V coin cell lithium

battery (P/N CR-2032).

Battery Information (Responder LC)

The remote control is powered by an internal rechargeable battery

that can be serviced only through an authorized Directed dealer.

Warnings! NEVER connect the supplied AC adapter

to products other than the Responder LC remote con-

trol. It is a high current device designed speciﬁcally for

rapid charging of the Responder LC battery and may

cause severe damage or explosion when connected to

any other products.

Battery Disposal

Directed cares about the environment. If you need to dis-

pose of the battery, please do so in accordance with your

municipal requirements for battery disposal or return to Di-

rected.

Installation

Due to the complexity of this system, installation of this product must only be

performed by an authorized Directed dealer. If you have any questions, ask

your retailer or contact Directed directly at 1-800-753-0600.

Remote Start Capable

When properly installed, this system can start the vehicle via a command

signal from the remote control transmitter. Therefore, never operate the system

in an enclosed area or partially enclosed area without ventilation (such as a

garage). When parking in an enclosed or partially enclosed area or when

having the vehicle serviced, the remote start system must be disabled using the

installed menu wheel. It is the user’s sole responsibility to properly handle and

keep out of reach from children all remote control transmitters to assure that the

system does not unintentionally remote start the vehicle. THE USER MUST IN-

STALL A CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR IN OR ABOUT THE LIVING AREA

ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE. ALL DOORS LEADING FROM ADJACENT LIV-

ING AREAS TO THE ENCLOSED OR PARTIALLY ENCLOSED VEHICLE STOR-

AGE AREA MUST AT ALL TIMES REMAIN CLOSED. These precautions are the

sole responsibility of the user.

Manual Transmission Vehicles

Remote starters on manual transmission vehicles operate differently than

those with automatic transmission because you must leave your car in neutral.

You must read this Owner’s Guide to familiarize yourself with the proper proce-

dures regarding manual transmission remote starters. If you have any questions,

ask your authorized Directed dealer or contact Directed at 1-800-753-0600.

Before remote starting a manual transmission vehicle, be sure to:

s Leave the vehicle in neutral and be sure no one is standing in front or

behind the vehicle.

s Only remote start on a ﬂat surface

s Have the parking brake fully engaged

WARNING! It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure the parking/emer-

gency brake properly functions. Failure to do so can result in personal injury or

property damage. We recommend the owner have the parking / emergency

brake system inspected and adjusted by a qualiﬁed automotive shop biannu-

ally.

Use of this product in a manner contrary to its intended mode of operation may

result in property damage, personal injury, or death. (1) Never remotely start

the vehicle with the vehicle in gear, and (2) Never remotely start the vehicle

with the keys in the ignition. The user must also have the neutral safety feature

of the vehicle periodically checked, wherein the vehicle must not remotely start

while the car is in gear. This testing should be performed by an authorized

Directed dealer in accordance with the Safety Check outlined in the product

installation guide. If the vehicle starts in gear, cease remote start operation im-

mediately and consult with the authorized Directed dealer to ﬁx the problem.

After the remote start module has been installed, contact your authorized dealer

to have him or her test the remote start module by performing the Safety Check

outlined in the product installation guide. If the vehicle starts when performing

the Neutral Safety Shutdown Circuit test, the remote start unit has not been

properly installed. The remote start module must be removed or the installer

must properly reinstall the remote start system so that the vehicle does not start

in gear. All installations must be performed by an authorized Directed dealer.

OPERATION OF THE REMOTE START MODULE IF THE VEHICLE STARTS IN

GEAR IS CONTRARY TO ITS INTENDED MODE OF OPERATION. OPER-

ATING THE REMOTE START SYSTEM UNDER THESE CONDITIONS MAY

RESULT IN PROPERTY DAMAGE OR PERSONAL INJURY. YOU MUST IMME-

DIATELY CEASE THE USE OF THE UNIT AND SEEK THE ASSISTANCE OF

AN AUTHORIZED Directed DEALER TO REPAIR OR DISCONNECT THE IN-

STALLED REMOTE START MODULE. DIRECTED WILL NOT BE HELD RESPON-

SIBLE OR PAY FOR INSTALLATION OR REINSTALLATION COSTS.

This product is designed for fuel injected vehicles only. Use of this

product in a standard transmission vehicle must be in strict accordance

with this guide.

This product should not be installed in any convertible vehicles, soft or

hard top with a manual transmission. Installation in such vehicles may

pose certain risk.

Interference

All radio devices are subject to interference which could affect proper

performance.

Upgrades and Batteries

Any upgrades to this product and/or installation of batteries must be

performed by an authorized dealer. Do not attempt to perform any

unauthorized modiﬁcations to this product.

Water/Heat Resistance

This product is not designed to be water and/or heat-resistant. Please

take care to keep this product dry and away from heat sources. Any-

damage from water or heat will void the warranty.

Limited lifetime consumer warranty

Directed Electronics. (“Directed”) promises to the original purchaser to repair or replace

(at Directed’s election) with a comparable reconditioned model any Directed unit (hereaf-

ter the “unit”), excluding without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters, the associated

sensors and accessories, which proves to be defective in workmanship or material under

reasonable use during the lifetime of the vehicle provided the following conditions are

met: the unit was purchased from an authorized Directed dealer, the unit was profession-

ally installed and serviced by an authorized Directed dealer; the unit will be professionally

reinstalled in the vehicle in which it was originally installed by an authorized Directed

dealer; and the unit is returned to Directed, shipping prepaid with a legible copy of the

bill of sale or other dated proof of purchase bearing the following information: consumer’s

name, telephone number and address; the authorized dealers name, telephone number

and address; complete product description, including accessories; the year, make and

model of the vehicle; vehicle license number and vehicle identification number. All com-

ponents other than the unit, including without limitation the siren, the remote transmitters

and the associated sensors and accessories, carry a one-year warranty from the date of

purchase of the same. ALL PRODUCTS RECEIVED BY DIRECTED FOR WARRANTY REPAIR

WITHOUT PROOF OF PURCHASE FROM AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WILL BE DENIED.

This warranty is non-transferable and is automatically void if: the unit’s date code or serial

number is defaced, missing or altered; the unit has been modified or used in a manner

contrary to its intended purpose; the unit has been damaged by accident, unreasonable

use, neglect, improper service, installation or other causes not arising out of defects in

materials or construction. The warranty does not cover damage to the unit caused by

installation or removal of the unit. Directed, in its sole discretion, will determine what con-

stitutes excessive damage and may refuse the return of any unit with excessive damage.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT ALLOWED BY LAW, ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING

BUT NOT LIMITED TO EXPRESS WARRANTY, IMPLIED WARRANTY, WARRANTY

OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND WARRANTY OF

NON-INFRINGEMENT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, ARE EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED;

AND DIRECTED NEITHER ASSUMES NOR AUTHORIZES ANY PERSON OR ENTITY

TO ASSUME FOR IT ANY DUTY, OBLIGATION OR LIABILITY IN CONNECTION

WITH ITS PRODUCTS. DIRECTED DISCLAIMS AND HAS ABSOLUTELY NO LIABILITY

FOR ANY AND ALL ACTS OF THIRD PARTIES INCLUDING ITS AUTHORIZED

DEALERS OR INSTALLERS. DIRECTED SECURITY SYSTEMS, INCLUDING THIS UNIT,

ARE DETERRENTS AGAINST POSSIBLE THEFT. DIRECTED IS NOT OFFERING A

GUARANTEE OR INSURANCE AGAINST VANDALISM, DAMAGE OR THEFT OF THE

AUTOMOBILE, ITS PARTS OR CONTENTS; AND HEREBY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY

LIABILITY WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LIABILITY FOR THEFT,

Introducción

Debido al tiempo de tránsito y almacenamiento con anterioridad a su

compra, la carga de la batería puede haberse consumido. Para ase-

gurarse un funcionamiento adecuado, veriﬁque el nivel de la batería

y conecte al cargador si la carga no está completa.

Carga del control remoto:

1. Enchufe el adaptador de CA a una salida de CA de 110V.

Inserte el conector mini USB al puerto de mini USB que se

encuentra en el lateral del control remoto.

Uso del sistema

Comandos y conﬁrmaciones

Los comandos, ya sean Básicos o Avanzados, se usan para activar

las funciones del sistema y se llevan a cabo presionando uno de los

botones de Comando. Los comandos Básicos controlan las funciones

de seguridad y de encendido remoto más utilizadas mientras que

los comandos Avanzados activan funciones más especializadas y

solicitan informes. Las conﬁrmaciones de los comandos Básicos y

Avanzados se indican primero a través de sonidos de la bocina y

parpadeo de las luces de estacionamiento y, luego, mediante Texto,

Íconos y pitidos o tonos en el control remoto. Las siguientes secciones

sobre Comandos básicos describen la conﬁrmación de cada función.

Activación de comandos

Active los comandos Básicos presionando uno de los botones de

comando mientras se encuentra en el nivel de Acceso Directo. El

acceso directo se encuentra disponible mientras el campo de texto

muestra el Reloj, la Temperatura o el Tiempo de Ejecución. Active los

comandos Avanzados presionando uno de los botones de comando

luego de acceder a uno de los Niveles de Función. Los Niveles de

Función se encuentran disponibles cuando el campo de texto muestra

NIVEL 1, 2, 3 o 4.

Si se abre la puerta al realizar el bloqueo, se lo notiﬁca de una zona

activa inmediatamente luego de bloquear el sistema. La bocina del

vehículo “suena” nuevamente. El control remoto de 2 vías emite un

tono corto de “error” y el LCD muestra el ícono de puerta.

Importante: La señal proveniente de las puertas y el sonido de la

bocina son opcionales y deben estar conectados para que el sistema

proporcione una notiﬁcación.

Para Bloqueo y Pánico

Presione y mantenga

El sistema se Bloquea (o se Bloquea en modo Valet) y, luego

de 2 segundos, suena la bocina y parpadean las luces de es-

Información de la Batería (1 vía)

El control complementario de 1 vía se alimenta a través de una bat-

ería de celda de litio en forma de moneda de 3V (N° de parte CR-

2032).

Información sobre la batería (Responder LC)

El control remoto Responder LC se alimenta a través de una batería

interna recargable cuyo mantenimiento sólo puede realizarlo un distri-

buidor autorizado de Directed.

¡Advertencia! NUNCA conecte el adaptador de CA

provisto a otro producto que no sea el control remoto

Responder LC. Es un dispositivo de alta corriente dis-

eñado especíﬁcamente para la carga acelerada de

la batería del Responder LC y puede causar daños

graves o explosiones al conectarse a cualquier otro

producto.

Disposición de la Batería

Directed se preocupa por el medioambiente. Si necesita

desechar la batería, hágalo conforme a los requisitos de su

municipio con respecto a la disposición de baterías o retór-

nela a Directed.

Instalación

Debido a la complejidad de este sistema, sólo un distribuidor autorizado por

Directed puede llevar a cabo la instalación de este producto. En caso de

Apto para el encendido remoto

Cuando se instala adecuadamente, este sistema puede poner en marcha un

vehículo a través de una señal de comando desde un transmisor de control re-

moto. Por lo tanto, nunca opere el sistema en un área cerrada o parcialmente

cerrada sin ventilación (como por ejemplo, una cochera). Cuando estacione

en un área cerrada o parcialmente cerrada o cuando realice un mantenimien-

to a su vehículo, se debe deshabilitar el sistema de encendido remoto a través

de la rueda del menú instalada. Es responsabilidad exclusiva del usuario

manejar con propiedad y mantener fuera del alcance de los niños todos los

transmisores de control remoto para asegurarse de que el sistema no encienda

el vehículo de forma remota involuntariamente. EL USUARIO DEBE INSTALAR

UN DETECTOR DE MONÓXIDO DE CARBONO DENTRO O ALREDEDOR

son responsabilidad exclusiva del usuario.

Vehículos con transmisión manual

Los dispositivos de encendido remoto en vehículos con transmisión manual

funcionan de forma diferente que aquellos en vehículos con transmisión au-

tomática ya que debe dejar su automóvil en punto muerto. Debe leer este

Manual del usuario para familiarizarse con los procedimientos adecuados

con respecto a los dispositivos de encendido en vehículos con transmisión

manual. En caso de querer realizar alguna consulta comuníquese con el

distribuidor autorizado de Directed o con Directed al 1-800-753-0600.

Antes de realizar el encendido remoto en un vehículo con transmisión manual,

asegúrese de:

s Dejar el vehículo en punto muerto y asegurarse de que nadie se encuen-

tre parado delante o detrás del vehículo.

s Sólo realice el encendido sobre una superﬁcie lisa.

s Tenga el freno de estacionamiento completamente colocado

¡ADVERTENCIA! Es responsabilidad del usuario asegurarse de que el freno

de estacionamiento/de emergencia funcionen adecuadamente. No prestar

atención a este hecho puede genera lesiones personales o daños materiales.

Recomendamos que el usuario haga inspeccionar y austar el sistema de fre-

nado de estacionamiento/de emergencia por un taller caliﬁcado al menos

dos veces al año.

Luego de instalar el módulo de encendido remoto, comuníquese con el dis-

stalación del producto. Si el vehículo se enciende mientras se lleva a cabo

la prueba del Circuito de apagado de seguridad en punto muerto, no se

instaló la unidad de encendido remoto de forma adecuada. Se debe quitar

el módulo de encendido remoto y el instalador debe volver a instalarlo de

modo tal que el vehículo no arranque en cambio. Todas las instalaciones debe

llevarlas a cabo un distribuidor autorizado de Directed.

EL FUNCIONAMIENTO DEL MÓDULO DE ENCENDIDO REMOTO CUAN-

DO EL VEHÍCULO ESTÁ EN CAMBIO ES CONTRARIO A SU MODO PRE-

VISTO DE OPERACIÓN. OPERAR EL SISTEMA DE ENCENDIDO REMOTO

BAJO ESTAS CONDICIONES PUEDE GENERAR DAÑOS MATERIALES O

LESIONES PERSONALES. DEBE DETENER INMEDIATAMENTE EL USO DE LA

UNIDAD Y BUSCAR LA ASISTENCIA DE UN DISTRIBUIDOR AUTORIZADO

POR DIRECTED PARA QUE REPARE O DESCONECTE EL MÓDULO DE EN-

CENDIDO REMOTO INSTALADO. DIRECTED NO SERÁ RESPONSABLE NI

PAGARÁ LOS COSTOS DE INSTALACIÓN O RE-INSTALACIÓN.

Este producto se encuentra diseñado para vehículos con inyección

de gasolina solamente. El uso de este producto en un vehículo con

transmisión estándar debe cumplir en forma estricta con este manual.

Este producto no debe instalarse en vehículos convertibles, con techo

rígido o rebatible con transmisión manual. La instalación en dichos

vehículos puede acarrear un cierto riesgo.

Interferencia

Todos los dispositivos de radiofrecuencia están sujetos a interferencia

lo cual podría afectar el rendimiento adecuado.

Mejoras y baterías

Sólo un distribuidor autorizado por debe llevar a cabo mejoras a

este producto o la instalación de baterías. No intente llevar a cabo

ninguna modiﬁcación no autorizada sobre este producto.

Resistencia al agua/calor

Este producto no se encuentra diseñado para ser a prueba de agua

o calor. Tome las medidas necesarias para mantener el producto seco

y lejos de fuentes de calor. Cualquier daño generado por el agua o

calor hará caducar la garantía.

Garantía Limitada De Por Vida Para El Consumidor

Directed Electronics. (“Directed”) le promete al comprador original que reparará o

reemplazará (a elección de Directed) con un modelo comparable reacondicionado,

cualquier unidad de Directed (en lo adelante, la “unidad”), excluyendo, pero sin limi-

tarse a la sirena, los transmisores a remoto y los sensores y accesorios conexos, que

demuestre estar defectuosa en cuanto a su mano de obra o materiales bajo un uso

razonable durante la vida útil del vehículo, siempre que reúna las siguientes condicio-

nes: La unidad se compró de un comerciante autorizado de Directed; la unidad fue

instalada y mantenida profesionalmente por un comerciante autorizado de Directed;

un comerciante autorizado de Directed reinstalará la unidad profesionalmente en el

vehículo en el cual fue instalada inicialmente, y la unidad se devuelve a Directed, con

los gastos de envío pagados por anticipado, junto con una copia legible del compro-

bante de venta u otra prueba fechada de la compra, con la siguiente información: el

nombre, número de teléfono y dirección del consumidor; el nombre, número de teléfono

y dirección del comerciante autorizado; una descripción completa del producto, inclui-

dos los accesorios; el año, la marca y el modelo del vehículo; el número de licencia

del vehículo y el número de identificación del vehículo. Todo otro componente que no

sea la unidad, incluyendo, pero sin limitarse a la sirena, los transmisores a remoto y

los sensores y accesorios conexos, conllevan una garantía de un año a partir de la

fecha de compra de los mismos. TODO PRODUCTO QUE DIRECTED RECIBA PARA SU

REPARACIÓN BAJO LA GARANTÍA QUE NO TENGA PRUEBA DE COMPRA DE UN

COMERCIANTE AUTORIZADO, SERÁ RECHAZADO. Esta garantía no es transferible y

se cancela automáticamente si: el código de fecha o el número de serie de la unidad ha

sido alterado, desfigurado o no existe; la unidad ha sido modificada o utilizada de una

manera contraria al propósito deseado; la Unidad ha sido dañada accidentalmente, por

el uso inadecuado de la misma, por descuido, servicio incorrecto o instalación inadec-

uada, o por otras causas que no tengan su origen en algún defecto en sus materiales o

mano de obra. Esta garantía no cubre daños a la unidad causados por su instalación

o desmontaje. Directed podrá, a su entero juicio, determinar lo que constituye un daño

excesivo, y podrá rehusar la devolución de cualquier unidad con daños excesivos.

O ENTIDAD ALGUNA ASUMA EN NOMBRE DE ELLA, NINGÚN DEBER, OBLIGACIÓN

O RESPONSABILIDAD RELACIONADA CON SUS PRODUCTOS. DIRECTED DENIEGA

Y ABSOLUTAMENTE NO ES RESPONSABLE POR CUALESQUIERA ACTOS DE

TERCEROS, INCLUIDOS SUS COMERCIANTES O INSTALADORES AUTORIZADOS. LOS

SISTEMAS DE SEGURIDAD DE DIRECTED, INCLUSO ESTA UNIDAD, SON UN FACTOR

DISUASIVO CONTRA POSIBLES ROBOS. DIRECTED NO ESTÁ OFRECIENDO UNA

GARANTÍA O SEGURO CONTRA VANDALISMO, DAÑO O ROBO DEL AUTOMÓVIL,

RECLAMACIÓN CONTRA DIRECTED DEBERÁ LIMITARSE ESTRICTAMENTE AL PRECIO

DE COMPRA DE LA UNIDAD DE UN COMERCIANTE AUTORIZADO DE DIRECTED.

DIRECTED NO SE RESPONSABILIZARÁ POR DAÑOS NI PERJUICIOS, INCLUYENDO,

PERO SIN LIMITARSE A DAÑOS Y PREJUICIOS EMERGENTES, INCIDENTALES, DAÑOS

AL VEHÍCULO, DAÑOS POR PÉRDIDA DE TIEMPO, PÉRDIDA DE INGRESOS, PÉRDIDA

COMERCIAL, PÉRDIDA DE OPORTUNIDAD ECONÓMICA. Y OTRAS SIMILARES. NO

OBSTANTE LO ANTERIOR, EL FABRICANTE OFRECE UNA GARANTÍA LIMITADA PARA

REEMPLAZAR O REPARAR EL MÓDULO DE CONTROL, SUJETO A LAS CONDICIONES

DESCRITAS ANTERIORMENTE. ESTA GARANTÍA ES INVÁLIDA SI LA UNIDAD NO

SE COMPRÓ EN DIRECTED O MEDIANTE UN COMERCIANTE AUTORIZADO DE

UN USO ARBITRARIO DE LA MISMA, POR NEGLIGENCIA, CASO FORTUITO,

DEFECTO EN LOS MATERIALES O EN LA MANO DE OBRA.
