It instructs you how to safely and easily set up, operate and

maintain your machine. Please be sure that you, and any other

persons who will operate the machine, carefully follow the

this manual frequently to familiarize yourself with the machine,

DANGER: This machine was built to be operated according to the safe operation practices in

this manual. As with any type of power equipment, carelessness or error on the part of the

operator can result in serious injury. This machine is capable of amputating fingers, hands,

toes and feet and throwing debris. Failure to observe the following safety instructions could

result in serious injury or death.

Training 8.

1. Read, understand, and follow all instructions on the

machine and in the manual(s) before attempting to

assemble and operate. Keep this manual in a safe place for

future and regular reference and for ordering replacement

parts.

2. Be familiar with all controls and their proper operation.

Know how to stop the machine and disengage them

quickly.

3. Never allow children under 16 years of age to operate this

machine. Children 16 and over should read and understand

the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual

and on the machine and be trained and supervised by an

adult.

4. Never allow adults to operate this machine without proper

instruction.

5. Keep bystanders, pets, and children at least 75 feet from

the machine while it is in operation. Stop machine if

anyone enters the area.

6. Never run an engine indoors or in a poorly ventilated area.

Engine exhaust contains carbon monoxide, an odorless

and deadly gas.

7. Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts or in the

feeding chambers and discharge opening. Contact with

the rotating impeller can amputate fingers, hands, and

feet.

Never attempt to unclog either the feed intake or discharge

opening, remove or empty bag, or inspect and repair the

machine while the engine is running. Shut the engine off

and wait until all moving parts have come to a complete

stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against

the engine.

Preparation

1. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to

be used. Remove all rocks, bottles, cans, or other foreign

objects which could be picked up or thrown and cause

personal injury or damage to the machine.

2. Always wear safety glasses or safety goggles during

operation and while performing an adjustment or repair,

to protect your eyes. Thrown objects which ricochet can

cause serious injury to the eyes.

3. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes and close-fitting

slacks and shirts. Loose fitting clothes or jewelry can be

caught in movable parts. Never operate this machine

in bare feet or sandals. Wear leather work gloves when

feeding material in the chipper chute.

4. Before starting, check all bolts and screws for proper

tightness to be sure the machine is in safe working

condition. Also, visually inspect machine for any damage at

frequent intervals.

5. Maintain or replace safety and instructions labels, as

necessary.

SafeHandlingof Gasoline:

To avoid personal injury or property damage use extreme care

in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Serious personal injury can occur when

gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite.

Wash your skin and change clothes immediately.

a. Use only an approved gasoline container.

b. Never fill containers inside a vehicle or on a truck

or trailer bed with a plastic liner. Always place

containers on the ground away from your vehicle

before filling.

c. When practical, remove gas-powered equipment

from the truck or trailer and refuel it on the ground.

If this is not possible, then refuel such equipment on

a trailer with a portable container, rather than from a

gasoline dispenser nozzle.

d. Keep the nozzle in contact with the rim of the fuel

tank or container opening at all times until fueling is

complete. Do not use a nozzle lock-open device.

Extinguish all cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other

sources of ignition.

Never fuel machine indoors.

Never remove gas cap or add fuel while the engine

is hot or running. Allow engine to cool at least two

minutes before refueling.

h. Never over fill fuel tank. Fill tank to no more than 1/2

inch below bottom of filler neck to allow space for

fuel expansion.

i. Replace gasoline cap and tighten securely.

j. If gasoline is spilled, wipe it off the engine and

equipment. Move unit to another area. Wait 5

minutes before starting the engine.

k. To reduce fire hazards, keep machine free of grass,

leaves, or other debris build-up. Clean up oil or fuel

spillage and remove any fuel soaked debris.

I. Never store the machine or fuel container inside

where there is an open flame, spark or pilot light

as on a water heater, space heater, furnace, clothes

dryer or other gas appliances.

Operation

Do not put hands and feet near rotating parts or in the

feeding chambers and discharge opening. Contact with

the rotating impeller can amputate fingers, hands, and

feet.

Before starting the machine, make sure the chipper chute,

feed intake, and cutting chamber are empty and free of all

debris.

Thoroughly inspect all material to be shredded and

remove any metal, rocks, bottles, cans, or other foreign

objects which could cause personal injury or damage to

the machine.

4. If it becomes necessary to push material through the

shredder hopper, use a small diameter stick. Do not use

your hands or feet.

5. If the impeller strikes a foreign object or if your machine

should start making an unusual noise or vibration,

immediately shut the engine off. Allow the impeller to

come to a complete stop. Disconnect the spark plug wire,

ground it against the engine and perform the following

steps:

a. Inspect for damage.

b. Repair or replace any damaged parts.

c. Check for any loose parts and tighten to assure

continued safe operation.

6. Do not allow an accumulation of processed material to

build up in the discharge area. This can prevent proper

discharge and result in kickback of material through the

feed opening.

7. Do not attempt to shred or chip material larger than

specified on the machine or in this manual. Personal injury

or machine damage could result.

8. Never attempt to unclog either the feed intake or

discharge opening while the engine is running. Shut

the engine off, wait until all moving parts have stopped,

disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the

engine before clearing debris.

9. Never operate without the shredder hopper, chipper chute,

or chute deflector properly attached to the machine.

Never empty or change discharge bag while the engine is

running.

10. Keep all guards, deflectors and safety devices in place and

operating properly.

11. Keep your face and body back and to the side of the

chipper chute while feeding material into the machine to

avoid accidental kickback injuries.

Never operate this machine without good visibility or light.

Do not operate this machine on a paved, gravel or non-

level surface.

Do not operate this machine while under the influence of

alcohol or drugs.

Muffler and engine become hot and can cause a burn. Do

not touch.

Never pick up or carry machine while the engine is running.

If situations occur which are not covered in this manual,

use care and good judgement. Contact Customer Support

for assistance and the name of the nearest service dealer.

Maintenance& Storage

Never tamper with safety devices. Check their proper

operation regularly.

Check bolts and screws for proper tightness at frequent

intervals to keep the machine in safe working condition.

Also, visually inspect machine for any damage and repair, if

needed.

3. Before cleaning, repairing, or inspecting, stop the engine

and make certain the impeller and all moving parts have

stopped. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it

against the engine to prevent unintended starting.

4. Do not change the engine governor settings or overspeed

the engine. The governor controls the maximum safe

operating speed of the engine.

5. Maintain or replace safety and instruction labels, as

necessary.

6. Follow this manual for safe loading, unloading,

transporting, and storage of this machine.

7. Never store the machine or fuel container inside where

there is an open flame, spark or pilot light such as a water

heater, furnace, clothes dryer, etc.

8. Allow machine to cool at least 5 minutes before storing.

9. Always refer to the operator's manual for proper

instructions on off-season storage.

10. If the fuel tank has to be drained, do this outdoors.

11. Observe proper disposal laws and regulations for gas, oil,

etc. to protect the environment.

12. According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission

(CPSC) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),

this product has an Average Useful Life of seven (7) years,

or 60 hours of operation. At the end of the Average Useful

Life have the machine inspected annually by an authorized

service dealer to ensure that all mechanical and safety

systems are working properly and not worn excessively.

Failure to do so can result in accidents, injuries or death.

Donot modify engine

To avoid serious injury or death, do not modify engine in any

way. Tampering with the governor setting can lead to a runaway

engine and cause it to operate at unsafe speeds. Never tamper

with factory setting of engine governor.

NoticeRegardingEmissions

Engines which are certified to comply with California and federal

EPA emission regulations for SORE (Small Off Road Equipment)

are certified to operate on regular unleaded gasoline, and

may include the following emission control systems: Engine

Modification (EM), Oxidizing Catalyst (OC), Secondary Air

Injection (SAI) and Three Way Catalyst (TWC) if so equipped.

SparkArrestor

_ ARNING: This machine is equipped with an

internal combustion engine and should not be used

on or near any unimproved forest-covered,

brushcovered or grass-covered land unless the

engine's exhaust system is equipped with a spark

arrester meeting applicable local or state laws (if

any).

Ira spark arrester is used, it should be maintained in effective

working order by the operator. In the State of California the

above is required by law (Section 4442 of the California Public

Resources Code). Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws

apply on federal lands.

Assembly

NOTE:This unit is shipped without gasoline or oil in the engine.

Fill up gasoline and oil as instructed in the accompanying engine

manual BEFORE operating your chipper shredder.

HopperAssembly

1. Remove six hex nuts and washers from the weld studs on

the impeller housing. Do not remove the support plate. See

Fig. 3-1A.

2. Place hopper assembly into position in front of impeller

housing, aligning holes in hopper assembly collar with

weld studs. See Fig. 3-1B.

3. Slide hopper assembly onto weld studs and replace

washers and hex nuts. See Fig. 3-1C. Do not tighten

completely.

4. Lift hopper assembly up to impeller bracket assembly. See

Fig. 3-2A.

5. Slide the release rod out slightly to hook the hopper

bracket onto the rod. See Fig. 3-2B.

6. Tighten the six hex nuts that secure hopper assembly to

impeller housing and also tighten the hex nuts that secure

hopper bracket to hopper assembly.

ChuteDeflector

1. Remove the wing knobs from each side of the lower

impeller housing. See Fig. 3-3A.

2. Remove the hex lock nut, spacers, and hex bolt from the

top of the impeller housing. See Fig. 3-3B.

3. Align the chute deflector in position on the discharge

opening and insert hex bolt with spacer through hinge on

chute deflector (spacers fit inside of hinges). See Fig. 3-4A.

4. Place second spacer over hex bolt inside other hinge and

secure with hex lock nut. See Fig. 3-4B.

5. Secure both sides of chute deflector to impeller housing

using wing knobs previously removed. See Fig. 3-4C.

ChipperChute(ModelSeries460)

1. Remove the three cupped washers and hex nuts from

weld studs around the opening on the side of the impeller

housing. See Fig. 3-5A.

Remove the hex bolts, flat washers, and lock nuts from the

two holes on the upper end of the support brace. See Fig.

3-5B.

3. Align the chipper chute over the weld studs, so the slot in

the bottom of the chute is facing down. See Fig. 3-6A.

Secure chipper chute with the three cupped washers Bag

(cupped side against the chipper chute) and hex nuts

previously removed. See Fig. 3-6B. Do not tighten the nuts

at this time.

The chipper shredder was shipped with one end of the support

brace already secured to the lower frame. Loosen but do not

remove the bolts securing the brace to the frame.

5. Align the holes in the chute with the holes in the top of the

brace and attach brace to chipper chute with hardware

previously removed. The flat washers should be placed

under the bolt heads and against the inside surface of the

plastic chipper chute. See Fig. 3-7A. Tighten securely.

6. Tighten the bolts securing the support brace to the frame.

See Fig. 3-7B.

7. Tighten the three nuts on the weld studs holding the

chipper chute to the impeller housing. See Fig. 3-7C.

Place the opening of the bag completely over the chute

deflector. See Fig. 3-8A.

2. Pull on the drawstring until the bag is tight around chute

deflector opening. See Fig. 3-8B.

3. Clip drawstring back on itself, tight against chute deflector

to secure into position. See Fig. 3-8C.

Set-Up

Refer to the separate engine owner's manual for additional

engine information.

1. Add oil provided before starting unit for the first time out

of the box.

Service the engine with gasoline as instructed in the

separate engine owner's manual.

WARNING: Use extreme care when handling

gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable and the

vapors are explosive. Never fuel the machine

indoors or while the engine is hot or running.

Extinguish cigarettes, cigars, pipes and other

sources of ignition.

_ WARNING: Never fill fuel tank indoors with engine

running or until the engine has been allowed to cool

for at least two minutes after running.

ChipperChute

Allows twigs and small branches up to 3" (2" for Model Series

450) in diameter to be fed into the impeller for chipping. See Fig.

4-1.

Hopper

Allow leaves and small branches up to 1/2 diameter to be fed into

the impeller for chipping and shredding. Material can be raked

into the hopper by lowering it down to the ground.

ReleaseRod

The release rod is located on the impeller bracket assembly and it

is used to release or lock the hopper when raising or lowering.

TowBar(if Equipped)

Use the tow bar to tow the chipper shredder behind a tractor to a

job site. See Fig. 4-1.

NOTE: If your unit is not equipped with a tow bar, you may

contact Customer Support as instructed on page 2 for

information regarding price and availability.

RecoilStarter

The recoil starter is located on the engine. Pull the recoil starter

to start engine.

EngineControls

See the engine Owner/Operator manual packed with your unit

for the location and function of the controls on the engine.

Operation

WARNING: The operation of any chipper shredder

can result in foreign objects being thrown into the

eyes, which can damage your eyes severely. Always

wear the safety glasses provided with this unit or

eye shields before chipping or shredding and while

performing any adjustments or repairs.

Starting Engine

IMPORTANT: Because this manual covers several different model

units, different starting instructions may apply to your particular

engine. Some engines may have a fuel petcock, some may not.

Some engines may have On/Off switches, other may not. Some

units will utilize a choke system, while others will require priming.

These factors depend on what make and model engine comes

with your particular unit. For these reasons, please refer to the

engine operator's manual for the correct starting procedure.

Bask Starting Pr0(edure:

1. Attach spark plug wire to spark plug. Make certain the

metal cap on the end of the spark plug is fastened securely

over metal tip on the spark plug.

2. Open fuel shut-off valve (If equipped) and make sure the

On/Off switch is in the On position (if equipped).

3. Move choke control lever to CHOKE position, if equipped.

See Fig. 5-1. If the unit has a primer, prime the motor as

instructed in the engine operator's manual.

NOTE:A warm engine may not require choking or priming.

4. Move throttle control lever to FAST position (if equipped).

See Fig. 5-1.

5. Grasp starter handle and pull rope out slowly until engine

reaches start of compression cycle (rope will pull slightly

harder at this point).

NOTE:A noise will be heard when finding the start of the

compression cycle. This noise is caused by the flails and

fingers, which are part of the shredding mechanism, and it

should be expected until the impeller reaches full speed.

6. Pull rope with a rapid, continuous, full arm stroke. Keep a

firm grip on starter handle. Let rope rewind slowly.

7. Repeat the previous steps until engine starts. When engine

starts, move choke control gradually to RUN position until

the engine is running smoothly.

_ ARNING: Never run the engine indoors or in a

poorly ventilated area. Engine exhaust contains

carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly gas.

Stopping Engine

1. Move throttle control lever to STOP position (if equipped)

or push rocker switch to OFF. See Fig. 5-2.

NOTE: See your engine manual packed with your unit for

more detailed instructions.

CAUTION: Never stop the engine by moving the

choke lever into the CHOKE position. Backfire, fire or

engine damage could result.

Loweringthe Hopper

1. With one hand grasp the handle at the top of the hopper

and lift slightly.

2. With the other hand pull out on the release rod and lower

the hopper to the ground.

Shredding

Yard waste such as leaves and pine needles can be raked up in

the hopper for shredding. After material has been processed by

the shredder blade and flails, it will be forced out of the chute

deflector, and, if attached, into a debris collection bag.

Observe the following guidelines when shredding yard debris:

Never attempt to shred material other than normal yard

debris (leaves, twigs, pine cones, etc.).

Avoid shredding fibrous plants such as tomato vines until

they are thoroughly dried out. Fresh vines do not shred

well and tend to wrap themselves around the impeller and

flails.

Place reasonable amounts of debris into the hopper at a

time. Do not overload the hopper.

Allow the material in the hopper to be drawn into the

blades and shredded before adding additional debris

to the hopper. Failure to due so may result in a clogged

hopper, clogged chute deflector or a stalled engine.

IMPORTANT:The flail screen is located inside the housing

in the discharge area. If the flail screen becomes clogged,

remove and clean as instructed in the Maintenance &

Adjustments section. For best performance, it is also

important to keep the chipper blade sharp.

Chipping

Branches up to two inches (model series 450) or three inches

(model series 460) in diameter can be fed into the chipper chute.

Observe the following guidelines when chipping branches:

Keep both hands firmly on the branch as you feed it into

the chipper chute.

Never feed more than one branch into the chipper chute at

a time.

Never feed anything other than branches (or wood) into

the chipper chute.

Apply intermittent pressure (force, in short pulses) while

feeding larger branches into the chipper chute, to avoid

bogging or stalling the engine.

IMPORTANT: Never feed branches with a diameter greater

than two (2) inches (Model Series 450) or three (3) inches

(model series 460) into the chipper chute. Doing so can

result in serious damage to your unit's chipper blades, flails

or impeller.

NOTE: For best performance, always operate the unit with

sharp chipper blades. Ira noticeable loss in performance is

encountered while chipping branches, the chipper blades

should be replaced.

Emptyingthe Bag

1. Stop engine.

2. Un-clip drawstring and loosen bag from chute deflector

opening. See Fig. 5-3.

Empty bag and reattach to the discharge chute opening.

Pull on the drawstring until the bag is tight around the

chute opening and clip the drawstring tight against the

chute deflector.

Maintenance

GeneralRecommendations

Always observe safety rules when performing any

maintenance.

The warranty on this chipper shredder does not cover

items that have been subjected to operator abuse or

negligence. To receive full value from warranty, operator

must maintain the equipment asinstructed here.

Changing of engine-governed speed will void engine

warranty.

All adjustments should be checked at least once each

season,

Periodically check all fasteners and make sure these are

tight.

Lubrication

WARNING: Always stop engine, disconnect spark

plug, and ground against engine before, cleaning,

lubricating, or performing any type of maintenance

on your machine.

Lubricate the release rod and spring with light oil once a

season. See Fig. 6-1.

2. Lubricate the pivot points on the hopper with light oil once

a season.

3. Lubricate the pivot points on the chute deflector with light

oil once a season.

4. Follow the separate engine manual packed with your unit

for engine lubrication instructions.

Equipment Care

Clean the chipper shredder thoroughly after each use.

Wash bag periodically with water. Allow to dry thoroughly

in shade.

If the discharge area becomes clogged, remove flail screen

and clean as instructed below.

NOTE:Cleaning with a forceful spray of water is not

recommended as it could contaminate the fuel system.

EngineCare

Refer to the Maintenance section of the Engine Owner/Operator

manual packed with your unit. Read and follow instructions

carefully.

Check engine oil level before each use as instructed in the

separate engine manual.

Clean or replace air cleaner every 25 hours under normal

conditions. Clean every few hours under extremely dusty

conditions. To service the air cleaner, refer to the engine

manual.

The spark plug should be cleaned and the gap reset once

a season. Check engine manual for correct plug type and

gap specifications.

Clean engine regularly with a cloth or brush. Keep the

top of the engine clean to permit proper air circulation.

Remove all grass, dirt, and combustible debris from muffler

area.

Removing the Flail Screen

WARNING: The impeller's shredder blade and

chipper blades are sharp. Wear leather work gloves

to protect your hands when cleaning out the

reduction chamber.

If the discharge area becomes clogged, remove the flail screen

and clean area as follows:

1. Stop engine and make certain the chipper shredder has

come to a complete stop.

i_ WARNING:The muffler and surrounding area will

be hot if the engine has been running. Use caution

and protect your hands if working near the muffler.

Disconnect spark plug wire from spark plug and ground

against the engine.

Remove the bag and two wing knobs on each side of the

chute deflector. See Fig. 6-2A.

4. Lift the chute deflector up to keep it out of the way. See

Fig. 6-2B.

5. Remove the two hairpin clips from each clevis pin which

extend through the housing and remove pins. See Fig.

6-2C.

Remove the flail screen from inside the housing and clean

the screen by scraping or washing with water. See Fig.

6-2D.

Reinstall the screen, making certain to reassemble the flail

screen with the curve side down.

Reattach the chute deflector with the hardware previously

removed and connect the bag to unit.

SECTION 6-- MAINTENANCE & ADJUSTMENTS

WARNING; Always stop engine, disconnect spark

plug, and ground against engine before cleaning,

lubricating or doing any kind of maintenance on

your machine.

Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground against the

engine.

Remove the flail screen as instructed in the previous

section.

Remove the chipper chute by removing three hex nuts and

washers. See Fig. 7-1A.

Remove the chipper chute support brace (Model Series

460) from the frame by removing the hex bolts. See Fig.

7-1B.

5. Rotate impeller assembly by hand until you locate one of

two chipper blades in the chipper chute opening.

6. Remove the blade by removing the internal hex screws,

lock washers, and hex nuts which secure it to the impeller.

See Fig. 7-2. Retain the hardware.

NOTE: Use a 3/16" hex key (Allen) wrench on the outside of

the blade and a 1/2" box (or socket) wrench on the inside of

the impeller. Hold the Allen wrench stationary and rotate

the box (or socket) wrench to loosen the nut.

Install a replacement blade (Part No. 781-0490) with the

hardware removed earlier or sharpen.

IMPORTANT:When sharpening the blade, protect hands by

using gloves. Follow the original angle of grind and make

sure to remove an equal amount from each blade.

To replace the other blade, rotate the impeller to expose

the second blade and repeat the steps above.

NOTE:Make certain blades are reassembled with the sharp

edge facing upward. Torque hardware to 250 - 300 in. Ibs.

ShredderBlade

1. Stop the engine and make certain that all moving parts

have come to a complete stop.

2. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground against the

engine.

3. Lower the hopper assembly and block up the housing.

4. Remove the six hex lock nuts and flat washers from the

weld studs on the flail housing. See Fig. 7-3A. Retain the

hardware.

Carefully separate the hopper assembly from the impeller

assembly and remove the support plate. See Fig. 7-3B.

NOTE:When reassembling the support plate, make certain

the embossed tab faces inward towards the impeller.

Remove the two wing knobs and cupped washers that

secure the chute deflector and raise the chute.

Insert a 1/2" or 3/4" diameter pipe through the flail screen

into the impeller to keep it from turning or remove the flail

screen and insert a piece of wood into the chute opening.

8_ Remove the two internal hex screws, lock washers, and hex

lock nuts which secure the shredder blade to the impeller.

See Fig. 7-4A.

Remove the hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer to

IMPORTANT:When reassembling the shredder blade,

tighten center bolt to between 550 and 700 in.-Ibs, and the

two outside bolts to between 250 and 350 in.-Ibs.

NOTE: Use a 3/16" hex key (Allen) wrench on the outside

of the shredder blade and a 1/2" box (or socket) wrench

on the inside of the shredder blade. Hold the Allen wrench

stationary and rotate the box (or socket) wrench to loosen

the nut. Use caution when removing the blade to avoid

contacting the weld studs on housing.

IMPORTANT:When sharpening the blade, follow the

original angle of grind as a guide. It is extremely important

that each cutting edge receives an equal amount of

grinding to prevent an unbalanced blade. An unbalanced

blade will cause excessive vibration when rotating at high

speeds and may cause damage to the unit. The blade can

be tested by balancing it on a screwdriver or nail. Remove

metal from the heavy side until it is balanced evenly.

Off-SeasonStorage

When storing the chipper shredder in an unventilated or

metal storage shed, care should be taken to rustproof the

non-painted surfaces. Using a light oil or silicone, coat the

equipment, especially any springs, bearings, and cables.

Remove all dirt from exterior of engine and equipment.

Follow lubrication recommendations.

Refer to engine manual for correct engine storage

instructions.

Store equipment in a clean, dry area. Do not store in an

area where equipment is present that may use a pilot light

or has a component that can create a spark.

Preparativos

Utilice guantes de trabajo de cuero cuando alimente

material pot el canal de la cortadora.

4. Antes de encender la m_quina controle que todos los pernos

y tornillos est_n bien ajustados para comprobar que la

m_quina se encuentra en condiciones seguras de operaci6n.

Adem_s, realice una inspecci6n visual de la m_quina a

intervalos frecuentes para controlar si la misma est_ dafada.

5. Mantenga o reemplace las etiquetas de seguridad e

instrucciones segun sea necesario.

Manejo segurode ia gasolina

Para evitar lesiones personales o dahos materiales sea

sumamente cuidadoso al manipular la gasolina. La gasolina es

altamente inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar explosiones.

Se puede lesionar gravemente si derrama gasolina sobre usted

o sobre la ropa ya que se puede encender. L_ivese la piel y

c_imbiese de ropa de inmediato.

1. Utilice s61o recipientes para gasolina autorizados.

2. Nunca Ilene los contenedores en el interior de un vehiculo

o cami6n o caja de camioneta con recubrimientos

pl_isticos. Coloque siempre los recipientes en el piso y lejos

del vehiculo antes de Ilenarlos.

Retire el equipo a gasolina del camidn o remolque y II_nelo

en el piso. Si esto no es posible, entonces Ilene dicho

equipo en un remolque con un recipiente port_itil, en vez

de desde un dispensador de gasolina.

Mantenga la boquilla de Ilenado en contacto con el borde

de la entrada del tanque de gasolina o contenedor en todo

momento hasta que est_ Ileno. No utilice un dispositivo

para abrir/cerrar la boquilla.

Apague todos los cigarrillos, cigarros, pipas y otras fuentes

de combusti6n.

Nunca cargue combustible en la m_iquina en un espacio

cerrado.

Nunca saque la tapa del gas ni agregue combustible

mientras el motor est,1 caliente o en marcha. Deje que el

motor se enfrie por Io menos dos minutos antes de volver a

cargar combustible. 9.

Nunca recargue el tanque de combustible. Llene el tanque

no m_is de 1/2 pulgada pot debajo de la base del cuello del

filtro para dejar espacio para la dilataci6n del combustible.

Vuelva a colocar la tapa de la gasolina y ajustela bien.

Limpie la gasolina derramada sobre el motor y el equipo.

Traslade la m_iquina a otra zona. Espere 5 minutos antes de

encender el motor. 11.

11. Nunca almacene la m_iquina o el recipiente de combustible

en un espacio cerrado donde haya fuego, chispas o

luz piloto (pot ejemplo, hornos, calentadores de agua,

calefactores, secadores de ropa, etc.)

12. Para reducir el riesgo de incendio mantenga la m_iquina

limpia de pasto, hojas y de acumulaci6n de otros desechos.

Limpie los derrames de aceite o combustible y saque todos

los desechos embebidos con combustible.

Operad6n

1. No ponga las manos o los pies cerca de las piezas rotatorias

o en las c_imaras de alimentaci6n ni en la abertura de

descarga. El contacto con el motor rotatorio puede

producir la amputaci6n de dedos, manos o pies.

2. Antes de encender la m_iquina compruebe que el canal de

la cortadora, la toma de alimentaci6n y la c_imara de corte

est_in vacias y sin desechos.

3. Inspeccione minuciosamente todo el material que desea

triturar y saque los objetos met_ilicos, piedras, botellas,

latas u otros objetos extrahos que pueden ocasionar

lesiones o dahar la m_iquina.

Si es necesario empujar el material pot la tolva de la

trituradora use un palo de di_imetro peque_o. No utilice las

manos ni los pies.

Si el motor golpea un objeto extra_o o si la m_iquina

empieza a producir un sonido poco comOn o una vibraci6n,

apague el motor de inmediato. Deje que el motor se

detenga pot completo. Desconecte el cable de la bujia,

p6ngalo de manera que haga masa contra el motory siga

estos pasos:

a. Inspeccione la m_iquina para vet si est,1 dahada.

b. Repare o reemplace las piezas dahadas.

c. Controle si hay piezas flojas y ajustelas para asegurar

que la m_iquina funcione de manera segura y

continua.

No permita que se acumule material procesado en la zona

de descarga. El mismo puede obstaculizar la descarga

adecuada y provocar el retorno del material a trav_s de la

abertura de alimentaci6n.

No intente triturar ni picar material de mayor tamaho al

especificado en la m_iquina o en este manual. Se podrian

producir lesiones o dahos.

Nunca trate de destapar la toma de alimentaci6n o la

abertura de descarga mientras el motor est,1 en marcha.

Apague el motor y espere hasta que todas las piezas que

se mueven se hayan detenido por completo, desconecte

el cable de la bujia y p6ngalo de manera que haga masa

contra el motor antes de sacar los escombros.

Nunca opere la m_iquina sin que la tolva de la trituradora,

el canal de la cortadora o el canal deflector est_n

correctamente conectados a la m_iquina. Nunca vacie ni

cambie la bolsa de descarga mientras el motor est,1 en

marcha.

Mantenga todos los protectores, desviadores y dispositivos

de seguridad en su lugar yen buenas condiciones.

Mientras alimenta material dentro de la m_iquina

mantenga su rostro y su cuerpo detr_is y hacia un costado

del canal de la cortadora para evitar lesiones por retrocesos

accidentales.

Nunca opere esta m_iquina sin buena visibilidad o

iluminaci6n.

No opere esta m_iquina en superficies con grava.

No opere esta m_iquina estando bajo los efectos del

alcohol o de drogas.

El silenciador y el motor se calientan y pueden producir

quemaduras. No los toque.

Nunca levante o transporte la m_iquina cuando el motor

est,1 encendido.

Si se presentan situaciones que no est_in previstas en este

manual sea cuidadoso y use el sentido comun. Marque

para contactar el departamento de atenci6n al cliente y

obtener el nombre de su distribuidor m_is cercano.

Controle frecuentemente que todos los pernos y tornillos

Adem_s, realice una inspecci6n visual de la m_quina

para controlar si la misma est_ daffada y rep_rela de set

3. Antes de limpiar, reparar o inspeccionar la m_quina,

detenga el motor y compruebe que el mismo y que todas

las piezas m6viles se hallan detenido. Desconecte el cable

de la bujia y p6ngalo de manera que haga masa contra el

motor para evitar que se encienda de manera accidental.

4. No cambie la configuraci6n del regulador del motor ni

acelere demasiado el mismo. El regulador controla la

velocidad m_xima segura de operaci6n del motor.

5. Mantenga o reemplace las etiquetas de seguridad e

instrucciones segun sea necesario.

6. Siga las instrucciones de este manual para cargar,

descargar, transportar y almacenar de manera segura esta

m_quina.

7. Nunca almacene la m_quina o el recipiente de combustible

en un espacio cerrado donde haya fuego, chispas o luz

piloto como pot ejemplo, calentadores de agua, hornos,

secadores de ropa, etc.

8. Deje que la m_quina se enfrie por Io menos 5 minutos

antes de guardarla.

9. Consulte siempre el manual del operador para conocer las

instrucciones adecuadas para el almacenamiento fuera de

Si debe vaciar el tanque de combustible, h_galo al aire

libre.

Respete las normas referentes a la disposici6n correcta

y las reglamentaciones sobre gas, combustible, etc. para

proteger el medio ambiente.

Nomodifique el motor

Para evitar lesiones graves o la muerte, no modifique el motor

bajo ninguna circunstancia. Si cambia la configuraci6n del

regulador el motor puede descontrolarse y operar a velocidades

inseguras. Nunca cambie la configuraci6n de f_brica del

regulador del motor.

Avisoreferidoa emisiones

Los motores que est_n certificados y cumplen con las

regulaciones de emisiones federales EPAy de California para

SORE (Equipos pequefos todo terreno) est_n certificados para

operar con gasolina comOn sin plomo y pueden incluir los

siguientes sistemas de control de emisiones: Modificaci6n de

motor (EM) y catalizador de tres vias (TWC) si est_n equipados de

esa manera.

Guardachispas

ADVERTENCIA: Esta m_quina est_ equipada con

un motor de combusti6n interna y no debe ser

utilizada en o cerca de un terreno agreste cubierto

por bosque, malezas o hierba excepto si el sistema

de escape del motor est_ equipado con un

Montaje

NOTA: Esta unidad se envia sin gasolina ni aceite en el motor.

Llene con gasolina y aceite como se indica en las instrucciones

que se incluyen en el manual de motor adjunto ANTES de poner

en funcionamiento su cortadora trituradora.

Montaje deTolva

1. Saque seis tuercas hexagonales y arandelas de los

esp_rragos de la soldadura de la caja del motor. No saque

la placa de sost_n. Vea la Fig. 3-1A.

Coloque el montaje de la tolva en posici6n delante de la

caja del motor, alineando los agujeros del montaje del aro

de la tolva con los esp_rragos de la soldadura. Vea la Fig.

3-1B.

3. Deslice el montaje de la tolva sobre los esp_rragos de la

soldadura y vuelva a colocar las arandelas y las tuercas

hexagonales. Vea la Fig. 3-1C. No las ajuste pot completo.

4. Levante el montaje de la tolva hasta el montaje del soporte

de motor. Vea la Fig. 3-2A.

5. Deslice la varilla de liberaci6n hacia afuera levemente para

enganchar el soporte de tolva en lavarilla. Vea la Fig. 3-2B.

6. Ajuste las seis tuercas hexagonales que unen el montaje de

la tolva a la caja del motor y ajuste tambi_n las arandelas

hexagonales que unen el soporte de la tolva al montaje de

la misma.

I. Saque las perillas a mariposa de los costados de la caja

inferior del motor. Vea la Fig. 3-3A.

Saque la tuerca de seguridad hexagonal, los separadores

y el bul6n hexagonal de la parte superior de la caja del

motor. Vea la Fig. 3-3B.

Ponga en linea el canal deflector en su posici6n en la

abertura de descarga e inserte el bul6n hexagonal con el

separador a trav_s de la bisagra del canal deflector (los

separadores van dentro de las bisagras). Vea la Fig. 3-4A.

4. Coloque el segundo separador sobre el bul6n hexagonal

dentro de la otra bisagra y ajustelo con la tuerca de

seguridad hexagonal. Vea la Fig. 3-4B.

5. Ajuste ambos costados del canal deflector a a la caja del

motor utilizando las perillas a mariposa que habia sacado

anteriormente. Vea la Fig. 3-4C.

1. Saque las tres arandelas curvas y las tuercas hexagonales

de los esp_irragos de la soldadura que est_in alrededor de la

abertura en el costado de la caja del motor. Vea la Fig. 3-5A.

Saque los bulones hexagonales, las arandelas planas y

las tuercas de seguridad de los dos agujeros del extremo

superior de la traba de sost_n. Vea la Fig. 3-5B.

Ponga en linea el canal de la cortadora por encima de los

esp_irragos de la soldadura de manera que la ranura en la

base del canal mire hacia abajo. Vea la Fig. 3-6A.

4. Ajuste el canal de la cortadora con tres arandelas curvas

(con el lado curvo contra el canal de la cortadora) y con las

tuercas hexagonales que bahia sacado anteriormente. Vea

la Fig. 3-6B. No ajuste las tuercas en este momento.

La cortadora trituradora rue enviada con un extremo de la traba

de sost_n ya unido al bastidor inferior. Afloje pero no saque los

bulones que unen la traba al bastidor.

5. Ponga en linea los agujeros del canal con los agujeros de

la parte superior de la traba y una la misma al canal de la

cortadora con los elementos de ferreteria )reviamente

retirados. Las arandelas lianas deberian ser colocadas bajo

las cabezas de cerrojo y contra la superficie interior del

pl_fistico chipper tolva. Vea la Fig. 3-7A. Ajuste bien.

6. Ajuste los bulones que unen la traba de sost_n al bastidor.

Vea la Fig. 3-7B.

7. Ajuste las tres tuercas de los esp_firragos de la soldadura

que sostienen el canal de la cortadora a la caja del motor.

Coloque la abertura de la bolsa completamente sobre el

canal deflector. Vea la Fig. 3-8A.

2. Tire de la tira de extracci6n hasta que la bolsa quede

ajustada alrededor de la abertura del canal deflector. Vea la

Fig. 3-8B.

3. Vuelva a sujetar la tira de extracci6n sobre si misma,

apri6tela contra el canal deflector para que quede firme en

su lugar. Vea la Fig. 3-8C.

Refi_rase alas instrucciones del manual del motor para la

informaci6n de motor.

1. A_adir el petr61eo proporcionado antes de la unidad inicial

por primera vez de la caja.

2. Atender el motor con la gasolina como instruido en el

manual del motor.

ADVERTENClA: Tenga extremo cuidado cuando

manipule gasolina. La gasolina es altamente

inflamable y sus vapores pueden causar

explosiones. Nunca agregue combustible a la

m&quina en interiores o mientras el motor est_

caliente o en funcionamiento. Apague cigarrillos,

cigarros, pipas y otras fuentes de combusti6n.

ADVERTENClA: Nunca llene el dep6sito de

combustible dentro del correr de motor o hasta que

se haya permitido que el motor se enfrie durante al

menos dos minutos despu_s del correr.

di_metro ingresen al motor para set picadas y trituradas. Bajando

la tolva se puede rastrillar material e introducirlo dentro del

mismo.

La varilla de liberaci6n est_ ubicada en el montaje del soporte

del motor y se usa para liberar o trabar la tolva al momento de

subir o bajar.

Barraderemolque(DeSetequipado)

Use la barra de remolque para remolcar la cortadora trituradora

mediante una unidad de tracci6n hasta el lugar de operaci6n.

NOTA: Si su unidad no est_ equipada con una barra de remolque,

puede comunicarse con el servicio de Asistencia al Cliente segun

las instrucciones de la p_gina 2 para consultar informaci6n sobre

precio y disponibilidad.

Arrancadorde Retroceso

El arrancador de retroceso es Iocalizado en el motor. Tire el

arrancador de retroceso para comenzar el motor.

Funcionamiento

_[b ADVERTENCIA: AIoperar una cortadora 5.

trituradora puede ser que objetos extraflos sean

arrojados alos ojos Io cual puede daflarlos

gravemente. Utilice siempre los anteojos de

seguridad provistos con esta unidad o protectores

para ojos antes de picar o triturar el material o

mientras realiza ajustes o reparaciones.

IIVIPORTANTE:como este manual cubre varias unidades

modelas diferentes, las instrucciones iniciales diferentes pueden

aplicarse a sumotor particular. Algunos motores pueden tener 6.

un combustible petcock, unos pueden no. Algunos motores

pueden tener Interruptores, otro puede no. Algunas unidades

utilizar_n un sistema de est_rter, mientras los otros requerir_n la

preparacidn. Estosfactores dependen de Io que hace y modela 7.

el motor viene con su unidad particular. Por estos motivos,

pot favor refi6rase al manual del operador de motor para el

procedimiento inicial correcto.

Encendidodei Motor

Conecte el cable de la bujia y la manga de goma a la

misma.

Tome la manija del arrancador y tire de la cuerda hacia

afuera lentamente hasta que el motor alcance el comience

del ciclo de compresi6n (la cuerda tirar_ un poco m_s

fuerte en este punto).

NOTA: Escuchar_ un sonido cuando alcance el comienzo

del ciclo de compresi6n. Este sonido es causado pot el

descebado y los topes que son parte del mecanismo de la

trituradora yes de esperar hasta que el motor alcance la

mSxima velocidad.

Tire de la cuerda con un golpe de brazo r_pido, total y

continuo. Apriete bien la manija del arrancador. Deje que la

cuerda se enrolle lentamente.

Repita los pasos anteriores hasta que el motor se

encienda. Una vez encendido el motor mueva el control

de obturacidn gradualmente hasta la posicidn RUN(en

marcha) hasta que el motor funcione sin problemas.

_ DVERTENCIA: Nunca encienda el motor en

espacios cerrados o en una zona poco ventilada. El

escape del motor contiene mon6xido de carbono,

un gasinodoro y letal.

La v_lvula de cierre de combustible abierta (de ser

equipado) y se asegura que el Interruptor est_ en el En la

posici6n (de ser equipado). 1.

Mueva la palanca de control de obturaci6n a la posici6n

CHOKE (obturaci6n) (de ser equipado). Vea la Fig. 5-1. Si la

unidad tiene una cartilla, principal el motor como instruido f

en el manual del operaclor de motor.

NOTA: Si el motor est_ tibio la obturaci6n puede no ser

necesaria.

Mueva la palanca de control del regulador a la posici6n

FAST (de set equipado). Vea la Fig. 5-1.

Detenci6ndelmotor

El regulador de movimiento controla la palanca para PARAR

la posici6n (de set equipado) o empujar el interruptor de

rockero a LEJOS. Vea la Fig. 5-2.

NOTA: Si desea instrucciones m_s detalladas consulte el

manual del motor embaladojunto con la unidad.

PRECAUCION: Nunca detenga el motor moviendo

la palanca de obturaci6n hasta la posici6n CHOKE

(obturaci6n). Se pueden producir explosiones al

carburador, incendios o daflos al motor.

C6mobajariatoiva

1. Con una mano tome la manija que se encuentra en la parte

superior de la tolva y lev_ntela levemente.

2. Con la otra mano tire hacia afuera de la varilla de liberaci6n

y baje la tolva hasta el piso.

Triturad6n

El desecho que se acumula en los patios como pot ejemplo las

hojas y las agujas de los pinos puede set rastrillar en la tolva

para triturarlo. Despu_s de procesar el material con la cuchilla

de la trituradora y de desgranar, es empujado fuera del deflector

del canal y, si est_ instalada, hacia el interior de la bolsa de

recolecci6n de desechos.

Respete las siguientes pautas cuando triture desechos que se

acumulan en los patios:

$61o utilice la m_quina para triturar el material que se

encuentra en un patio normal (hojas, ramas, picas de los

pinos, etc.).

Evite la trituraci6n de plantas fibrosas como, pot ejemplo,

las de tomates hasta que est_n totalmente secas. Las

plantas de tomates frescas no se trituran bien y tienden a

enroscarse alrededor del motor y del desgranado.

Coloque cantidades razonables de desechos en la tolva pot

vez. No sobrecargue la tolva.

Permita que el material que se encuentra en la tolva sea

atraido hasta las cuchillas y triturado antes de agregar m_s

desechos dentro de la misma. De no hacerlo se puede

tapar la tolva, el deflector del canal o detener el motor.

IMPORTANTE: La pantalla de desgranado est_ ubicada

dentro de la caja en la zona de descarga. Si se tapa la

pantalla de desgranado, s_quela y limpiela como se indica

en la secci6n Mantenimiento Y Ajustes. Para obtener el

mejor resultado tambi_n es importante mantener afilada la

cuchilla de la cortadora.

Corte

Se puede permitir el ingreso de ramas de hasta 2" (modelo

serie 450) o 3" (modelo serie 460) de di_metro en el canal de

la cortadora. Respete las siguientes pautas para el corte de las

ramas:

Mantenga ambas manos firmemente en la rama a medida

que la coloca dentro del canal de la cortadora.

No ponga nunca m_s de una rama dentro del canal de la

cortadora por vez.

En el canal de la cortadora s61o se puede colocar ramas (de

madera).

Aplique presidn intermitente (fuerza, en impulsos cortos)

cuando coloque ramas m_s largas dentro del canal de la

cortadora para evitar inundar o ahogar el motor.

IMPORTAIVTE: Nunca coloque ramas con un di_metro

superior a dos (2) pulgadas (modelo serie 450) o tres

(3) pulgadas (modelo serie 460) dentro del canal de la

cortadora. De hacerlo se pueden da_ar gravemente las

cuchillas de corte, el desgranado o el motor de la unidad.

NOTA: Para mejores resultados, opere siempre la unidad

con cuchillas de corte afiladas. Si se produce una reducci6n

apreciable en el rendimiento mientras se cortan ramas, se

debe reemplazar las cuchillas de la cortadora.

Vadadodela boisa

1. Detenga el motor.

2. Suelte la cuerda de extracci6n y afloje la bolsa de la

abertura del canal deflector. Vea la Fig. 5-3.

Vacie la bolsa y vuelva a colocarla en la abertura del canal

de descarga. Tire de la cuerda hasta que la bolsa est6

ajustada alrededor de la abertura del canal y sujete la

cuerda apret_ndola contra el canal deflector.

RecomendadonesGenerales

Respete siempre las reglas de seguridad cuando realice

tareas de mantenimiento.

La garantia de esta la cortadora trituradora no cubre

elementos que han estado sujetos al mal uso o la

negligencia del operador. Para recibir el reembolso total

de la garantia, el operador deber_ dar mantenimiento al

equipo como se indica en este manual.

El cambio de la velocidad controlada del motor invalidar_

la garantia del motor.

Todos los ajustes deben set verificados pot Io menos una

vez en cada estaci6n.

Revise peri6dicamente todos los sujetadores y compruebe

que est6n bien ajustados.

Lubrkad6n

ADVERTENCIA: Detenga siempre el motor,

desconecte la bujia y haga masa contra el motor

antes de limpiar, lubricar o hater Ilevar a cabo

cualquier clase de mantenimiento en su m_quina.

Lubrique la varilla y el resorte de liberaci6n con aceite

liviano una vez por temporada. Vea la Fig. 6-1.

3. Lubrique los puntos de pivote del canal de descarga con

Carede Equipo

Limpie cuidadosamente la cortadora trituradora despu_s

de cada uso.

Lave la bolsa con agua peri6dicamente. Permita que se

seque bien en un sitio a la sombra.

Si se tapa la zona de descarga, s_quela la pantalla de

desgranado y limpiela como se indica abajo.

NOTA:La limpieza con un chorro de agua a presi6n no

se recomienda,ya que el sistema de combustible podfia

resultar contaminado.

Cuidad0sparael motor

NOTA: Refi_rase alas secciones de mantenimiento y operaci6n

de motor en este manual para instrucciones detalladas.

Verifique el nivel de aceite.

Limpie el filtro de aire cada 100 horas o por Io menos

una vez por temporada en condiciones normales de uso.

Limpie a intervalos de pocas horas cuando haya mucho

polvo.

Limpie la bujia y restablezca la distancia disruptiva cada 25

horas o por Io menos una vez por temporada.

Limpie el motor regularmente con un trapo o cepillo.

Mantenga limpio el sistema de enfriamiento (_rea del

soplador) para permitir la circulaci6n apropiada de aire.

Quite todo el c_sped, suciedad y residuos combustibles del

_rea del silenciador.

Extracci6nde iaPantalladeDesgranado

ADVERTENCIA: Las cuchillas de trituracidn y de

corte del motor est_n afiladas. Use guantes de

trabajo de cuero para protegerse las manos cuando

limpie la zona de descarga.

Si la zona de descarga se tapa, saque la pantalla de desgranado y

limpie la zona como se indica a continuaci6n:

1. Detenga el motor y compruebe que la cortadora

trituradora se haya detenido por completo.

ADVERTENCIA: El silenciador y la zona

circundante est_n calientes si el motor ha estado en

funcionamiento. Sea precavido y prot6jase las

manos si trabaja cerca del silenciador.

2. Desconecte el cable de la bujia y p6ngalo haciendo masa

contra el motor.

Retire la bolsa y dos perillas a mariposa a cada lado del

canal deflector. Vea la Fig. 6-2A.

4. Levante el canal deflector para mantenerlo fuera del paso.

Vea la Fig. 6-2B.

5. Saque los dos broches de horquilla de cada pasador de

horquilla que se extiende cruzando la caja y saque los

pasadores. Vea la Fig. 6-2C.

6. Saque la pantalla de desgranado del interior de la caja y

limpie la pantalla cepill_ndola o lav_ndola con agua. Vea la

Fig. 6-2D.

7. Vuelva a colocar la pantalla y asegurese de reensamblarla

con el lado curvo hacia abajo.

8. Vuelva a unit el canal deflector con los elementos de

ferreteria previamente sacados y conecte la bolsa a la

unidad.

SECCION 6-- MANTENIMIENTO Y AJUSTES

Desconecte el cable de la bujia y p6ngalo de manera que

haga masa contra el motor.

2. Saque la pantalla de desgranado conforme se indica en la

secci6n anterior.

Saque el canal de la cortadora quitando tres tuercas

hexagonales y arandelas. Vea la Fig. 7-1A.

4. Saque del bastidor la traba de sost_n del canal de la

cortadora (Modelo serie 460) quitando los bulones

hexagonales. Vea la Fig. 7-1B.

5. Gire el montaje del motor en forma manual hasta ubicar

una de las dos cuchillas de la cortadora en la abertura del

canal de la cortadora.

Para sacar la cuchilla saque los tornillos hexagonales

internos, las arandelas de seguridad y las tuercas

hexagonales que la sujetan al motor. Vea la Fig. 7-2. Guarde

los elementos de ferreteria.

NOTA: Use una Ilave hexagonal de 3/16" (Allen) en el

exterior de la cuchilla y una Ilave de tubo de 1/2" (o cubo)

en el interior del motor. Sostenga la Ilave Allen firmemente

y gire la Ilave de tubo (o cubo) para aflojar la tuerca.

Coloque una cuchilla de repuesto (Numero de pieza

781-0490) con los elementos de ferreteria que extrajo

anteriormente o afilela.

IMPORTANTE:Cuando afila la cuchilla, prot_jase las manos

utilizando guantes. Siga el _ngulo original de afilado y

asegurese de extraer una cantidad igual de cada cuchilla.

Para reemplazar la otra cuchilla, gire el motor para exponer

la seguna cuchilla y repita los pasos anteriores.

NOTA:Compruebe que las cuchillas se reensamblen con el

filo hacia arriba. Ajuste los elementos de ferreteria a 250 -

300 pulgadas libras.

_L DVERTENClA: Las cuchillas de trituraci6n y la

cuchilla de corte del motor son filosas. Utilice

guantes de trabajo de cuero para protegerse las

-- manos.

Lacuchilladelatrituradora

Detenga el motor y verifique que todas las piezas m6viles

se hayan detenido por completo.

Desconecte el cable de la bujia y p6ngalo de manera que

haga masa contra el motor.

Baje el montaje de la tolva y trabe la caja.

Saque las seis tuercas hexagonales de seguridad y las

arandelas planas de los esp_irragos de la soldadura de la

caja de desgranado. Vea la Fig. 7-3A. Guarde los elementos

de ferreteria.

Con mucho cuidado separe el montaje de la tolva del

montaje del motor y retire la placa de sost_n. Vea la Fig.

7-3B.

NOTA:Cuando vuelva a montar la placa de sost_n

compruebe que la aleta grabada mire hacia adentro hacia

el motor.

Saque las dos perillas a mariposa y las arandelas curvas que

unen el canal deflector y lewintelo.

Inserte un tubo de 1/2" o 3/4" de di_imetro a trav_s de la

pantalla de desgranado hacia el interior del motor para

evitar que el mismo gire o saque la pantalla de desgranado

e inserte un trozo de madera en la abertura del canal.

Saque los dos tornillos hexagonales internos, las arandelas

de seguridad y las tuercas de seguridad hexagonales que

sujetan la cuchilla de la trituradora al motor. Vea la Fig.

7-4A.

9. Saque el perno hexagonal, la arandela de seguridad y la

arandela plana para liberar totalmente la cuchilla de la

trituradora. Vea la Fig. 7-4B.

IMPOFtTANTE:Cuando vuelva a montar la cuchilla de

trituraci6n ajuste el bul6n central entre 550 y 700 pulgadas

libras y los dos bulones exteriores entre 250 y 350 pulgadas

libras.

NOTA: Use una Ilave hexagonal de 3/16" (Allen) en el

exterior de la cuchilla de la trituradora y una Ilave de tubo

de 1/2" (o cubo) en el interior de la cuchilla de la trituradora.

Sostenga la Ilave Allen firmemente y gire la Ilave de tubo

(o cubo) para aflojar la tuerca. Tenga precauci6n cuando

saque la cuchilla para evitar el contacto con los esp_firragos

de la soldadura de la caja.

IMPORTANTE:Cuando afile la cuchilla, siga el _ingulo

original de afilado como guia. Es de suma importancia

que cada extremo de corte sea desbastado de igual

manera para evitar que la cuchilla quede desequilibrada.

Si la cuchilla est,1 desequilibrada producir_i una vibraci6n

excesiva cuando gire a alta velocidad y puede da_ar la

unidad. Se puede probar la cuchilla balance_indola sobre

un destornillador o clavo. Saque metal del lado pesado

hasta que quede bien balanceada.

AimacenarnientoFueradeTemporada

Almacenando la cortadora trituradora en un cobertizo de

almacenaje no ventilado o met_ilico, el cuidado deberia set

tornado a inoxidable las superficies no pintadas. Usando

un petr61eo ligero o silicona, cubra el equipo, sobre todo

cualquier primavera, portes, y cables.

Quite toda la suciedad del exterior de motor y equipo.

Siga recomendaciones de lubricaci6n.

Consulte el manual del motor para conocer las

instrucciones para el almacenamiento correcto del mismo.

Equipo de tienda en un _irea limpia, seca. No almacene en

un _irea donde el equipo est,1 presente que puede usar un

piloto o tiene un componente que puede cree una chispa.
