outlet. To disconnect, turn all controls to “OFF”;

remove plug from outlet.

12. Avoid skin contact with moving blades.

13. Check for tangles or kinks in the cord. If the

cord does become tangled during use, turn unit off

and straighten cord before operating.

OPERATING

INSTRUCTIONS

This appliance is intended for household use.

Use on Alternating Current (120V AC 60Hz)

only. This appliance has a polarized plug (one

blade is wider than the other). As a safety

feature, this plug will fit in the outlet only one way.

If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the

plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electri-

cian. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature.

Your new Conair Haircut Kit has everything you

need to achieve professional haircuts at home. Its

powerful high torque motor clipper, with high car-

bon stainless steel blades for long-lasting cutting

precision, features a new 5-position adjustamatic

taper control. Whatever hair length you set the

lever for, the clipper will automatically cut all hair

in that section at the desired length. Also included

are 9 attachment combs for different hair lengths

(including left and right ear taper combs), barber

scissors, a styling comb with angled teeth, a barber

comb with straight teeth, a full-length barber cape,

a case for easy storage, 3 styling clips to assist you

in cutting longer hair styles, a neck brush and a 28

minute step-by-step How-to DVD filled with styling

tips and techniques in both English and Spanish. It

also comes with lubricating oil, a cleaning brush

and a blade guard for easy maintenance and pro-

tection of the clipper blades.

THE CONAIR GUIDE

TO CUTTING HAIR AT HOME

Before you start:

1. Inspect your clipper. Make sure it’s free of hair

and dirt, properly oiled, and running smoothly.

2. Place cape around the neck of the person getting

a haircut.

3. Seat the person so that his or her head is at

your eye level.This gives you greater visibility

and control.

4. First, comb hair until it’s tangle-free. Then hold

clipper in a comfortable grip. Now you’re ready

to cut.

MEDIUM TO LONG CUT

To begin with, cut only a small amount

of hair until you become used to the length each

attachment leaves the hair. Try the longest attach-

ment comb and put the taper control in the high-

est setting. If you want a shorter cut, you can then

use shorter combs.

• Short attachment comb (number 1) cuts hair to 1/8".

• Medium-Short attachment comb (number 2) cuts hair

to 1/4".

• Medium-Long attachment comb (number 3) cuts hair

to 3/8".

• Long attachment comb (number 4) cuts hair to 1/2".

• Long attachment comb (number 5) cuts hair to 5/8".

• Long attachment comb (number 6) cuts hair to 3/4".

• Long attachment comb (number 7) cuts hair to 7/8".

• Left ear attachment comb lightly tapers over left ear.

• Right ear attachment comb lightly tapers over

right ear. These combs make this part of the

haircut easier.

Attach combs by hold-

ing them teeth up, then

snapping them onto the

bottom of the clipper

blade.

To remove comb attach-

ments, place index

finger and thumb as

illustrated; then pull out

and up.

NOTE: Never push or shove the clipper through

the hair to make it move more quickly.

Professional experience shows that the clipper

works most efficiently when it cuts through

the hair at its own speed.

To begin cutting hair:

1. The hair should be combed in its natural

direction.

2. Using the largest attachment comb, trim sides

from the bottom upward. Hold

clip per lightly against the hair

with teeth of the attachment

comb pointing up ward, yet flat

against the head.

Gradually lift the clip per

upward and outward through

the hair, trimming just a little at a time.

Repeat around sides and back of head.

If you want hair to be even

shorter:

A) Apply more pressure to

the head with the attach-

ment comb that is in place.

This takes a little practice,

of course.

B) Just switch to a shorter

attachment comb.

Remember, it’s better to

leave too much hair than

too little. For longer hair

on top, use the barber

comb and lift hair on the

top of the head, cutting

over the comb, or hold the

hair between the fingers

and cut to desired length.

Always working from the

front to the back of the

head, gradually cut the

hair shorter by reducing

the space between the comb or fingers and the

head. Comb often to check for uneven strands,

and to get rid of trimmed hair.

OUTLINING

Outlining requires no attachments. Comb

hair into the desired style. Position the

clipper between the sideburns and the ear (see

below), making sure the corner edge of the

blade is against the hairline. With the outline of

the hair as your guide, slowly move the clipper

over, around and behind the ears. For the back

of the neck and the sideburns, hold the clipper

upside down (see above) and, holding it against

the skin at the length desired, move the clipper

downward.

STOP. COMB. CHECK.

For best results, do as the professionals do: comb

hair often, and check clipping results as you

comb. This way you avoid uneven sides, bangs,

neckline, etc.

SHORTCUTS TO PERFECT

FLAT TOPS, CREW CUTS, ETC.

Always cut from the back of the neck to the

crown, using the longest comb setting. Hold the

comb attachment flat against the head and slowly

move the clipper up through the hair. Use the

same technique for the sides, cutting from the

bottom to the upper side of the head.

For the front to the crown, cut the hair against

the direction in which it grows, then even it up

with the sides.

For a flat top, use the flat comb, not the attach-

ment comb. Just cut hair on top of the head over

flat comb (see above).

To taper hair down to the neckline, use attach-

ment comb #1. Comb hair and check for uneven

spots. Outline sideburns and neck areas (see

“Outlining”).

USER MAINTENANCE

CARE OF YOUR CLIPPERS

MAINTENANCE OF THE BLADE

This clipper comes with a removable blade set.

To remove the blades follow

these steps:

1. Hold the front part of the

clipper with your thumb

pressing on the blade and

place another hand against

the blade. (see fig. 1)

2. When pressing the

blade forward, the blade is

detached. (see fig. 2)

TO REPLACE BLADES:

1. Set the Taper Control

Button to lowest position

“1” (see fig. 3)

2. Place the blade onto the

clipper body by inserting

the “Blade Tongue” down

below the “Lock Tap”.

(see fig. 4)

3. Snap the blade down

into following position. The

blade is now fixed onto the

clipper body. (see fig. 5)

SPECIAL OIL

Always apply oil to the blades before, during or

after use. This will ensure maximum cutting per-

formance. Hold clipper away from your body in a

downward position and apply oil on the front and

sides of the cutter blade. Wipe excess oil off with

a soft, dry cloth.

To maintain the blades of your Conair

clipper, oil

them after every three or four haircuts. Gently

place a few drops of oil on the teeth of the blades,

using the special Conair

oil included with your set.

Turn the clipper on for

a minute, then turn

off. This light, natural

oil was formulated

specifically for the Conair high speed clipper.

Be cause it is the right oil to use, it will not slow

down the blades. Never use any other product.

There is no substitute for Conair oil.

Any other servicing should be performed by an

authorized service representative or that the

appliance has no user serviceable parts. The

product is for household use. Do not pull, twist, or

wrap line cord around appliance.

ADJUSTABLE 5 DETENT

TAPER CONTROL

The Conair taper control is positioned at the back

of the unit so you can hold the clipper in your

hand and adjust the lever at the same time...while

you’re clipping. This taper control eliminates the

need in some situations for an attachment comb,

because it lets you gradually adjust the closeness

of the cut. For the closest cut and the shortest hair,

push taper control up as far as it will go to level

#5. To increase cutting length, slowly push control

down. If you push to the lowest position level #1, it

will leave hair about the same length as the short

attachment comb.

Because a different cutting edge is used in each

setting, the taper lever lengthens the life of your

blades. Packed-in hair can slow down any clipper.

To remove it without removing the blades, take

your cleaning brush and brush the hair from the

blades. If you do this after every clipping, espe-

cially with heavy hair cutting, the blades should

remain free of cut hair. If clipper stops cutting and

this action doesn’t help, try loosening the blades

to remove the hair.

If clipper stops cutting, check to see if there

is a clump of hair lodged between the blades.

If that is the problem, unplug the clipper and

then loosen the blades to remove the hair.

This clipper has a detachable blade that

makes cleaning easy. Just push up on the

top of the blade and it will pop off easily.

Remove any loose hair with the cleaning

brush provided and then place blade back

in position. To secure properly, line up the

base of the blade with the lower back of the

clipper. Push down into place until you hear

a snap to know it’s locked in place.

If the clipper stops cutting but does not stop

running, you will need to check the blades.

NOTE:

Never pull on the clipper cord. Never

twist or wrap the cord around the

clipper. To store your clipper, lay it flat with

the cord coiled up, then place in cylinder.

GUÍA DE CONAIR PARA CORTAR

EL CABELLO EN SU CASA

Antes de empezar:

1. Inspeccione el aparato para asegurarse que

esté libre de cabello y polvo, que esté lubricado y

que funcione correctamente

2. Coloque una toalla o una capa de barbero

alrededor del cuello de la persona a quien le va a

cortar el cabello

3. Siente a la persona de manera que su cabeza

esté al nivel de sus ojos para mayor visibilidad y

control

4. Desenrede el cabello, luego coja la cortadora

confortablemente en su mano. Ya está listo para

empezar.

CORTES MEDIANOS A LARGOS

Empiece por cortar poco cabello, hasta acostum-

brase al cortado de cada peine accesorio. Use el

peine accesorio más largo para empezar, luego

use peines accesorios más cortos para acortar

el cabello.

• El peine accesorio corto (No.1) corta el cabello a 1/8”

(3mm)

• El peine accesorio mediano-corto (No.2) corta el cabello a

1/4” (6mm)

• El peine accesorio mediano-largo (No.3) corta el cabello a

3/8” (9mm)

• El peine accesorio largo (No.4) corta el cabello a 1/2”

(13mm)

• El peine accesorio largo (No.5) corta el cabello a 5/8”

(16mm)

• El peine accesorio largo (No.6) corta el cabello a 3/4”

(19mm)

Para ensamblar el

peine accesorio, sos-

téngalo cabeza arriba y

engánchelo en la parte

inferior del filo de la cor-

tadora.

Para quitar el peine

accesorio, cójalo entre

los dedos índice y pul-

gar, tal como se ve en

la ilustración, y jale el

peine hacia arriba y

afuera.

NOTA: Nunca empuje la cortadora para que

corte más rápidamente. La experiencia profe-

sional demuestra que funciona mejor cuando

corta a su propia velocidad.

Empezar el corte de cabello:

1. Peine el cabello en la dirección de su creci-

miento natural.

2. Empiece el recorte a un lado de la cabeza,

usando el peine accesorio

más largo, y cortando de abajo

hacia arriba. Sostenga la cor-

tadora ligeramente contra el

cabello con los dientes del

peine apuntando hacia arriba

y plano contra la cabeza. Pase

la cortadora en el cabello gradualmente hacia

arriba y hacia fuera, cortando un poco cada vez.

Repita al otro lado y atrás

de la cabeza.

Si quiere un corte de

cabello aún más corto:

A) Aplique más presión

con el peine accesorio.

Esto necesita al principio

un poco de práctica.

B) Cambie el peine

accesorio por uno más

corto. Recuérdese que es

mejor dejar demasiado

cabello que muy poco.

Si quiere dejar el cabello

más largo encima de

la cabeza, use el peine

de barbero o sus dedos

para levantar el cabello y

corte a lo largo deseado.

Trabaje siempre de adel-

ante por atrás de la cabeza y corte el cabello poco

a poco, reduciendo el espacio entre sus dedos o

el peine y la cabeza. Peine con frecuencia para

verificar que no haya mechones disparejos y para

eliminar el cabello cortado.

CONTORNEO

El contorneo no requiere accesorios. Peine

el cabello en el estilo deseado. Coloque la

cortadora entre las patillas y la oreja (véase

el dibujo) y asegúrese que la esquina de la

cuchilla se encuentre contra el nacimiento

del pelo. Mueva la cortadora lentamente

sobre, alrededor y por atrás de las orejas,

siguiendo la forma del cabello. Para cortar

el pelo en la nuca y las patillas, sosten-

ga la cortadora al revés (véase el dibujo),

colóquela contra la piel al nivel deseado y

muévala hacia abajo.

DETÉNGASE. PEINE. VERIFIQUE

Para resultados óptimos, siga el ejemplo de los

profesionales: peine el cabello con frecuencia

y verifique los resultados mientras peine. Esto

evitará tener lados, flequillos o líneas de nuca

disparejos.

PERFECTOS CORTES CON

CORONILLAS PLANAS, CORTES

MILITARES ETC.

Siempre corte el cabello desde la parte trasera

de la nuca hacia la coronilla, usando el peine

accesorio más largo. Sostenga el peine contra

la cabeza y mueva la cortadora lentamente en el

cabello hacia arriba. Use la misma técnica para

los lados, cortando desde abajo hasta la parte

superior lateral de la cabeza.

Para la parte delantera, corte el cabello en la

dirección contraria a la del crecimiento natural del

cabello, luego iguale los lados.

Para una coronilla plana, use un peine plano en

vez de un peine accesorio, y corte el cabello

encima del peine (véase el dibujo).

Para cortar el pelo en la nuca y en las patillas,

use el peine accesorio No.1 (Véase la sección

“Contorneo”).

1. Sostenga la cortadora

delante hasta desencajarlas

dora en la posición más baja

“1” (Fig.3)

2. Inserte la lengüeta negra

del juego de cuchillas en la

hendidura de la cortadora

(Fig.4)

3. Apriete el juego de cuchillas

para sujetarlo (Fig.5)

ACEITE ESPECIAL

Para mantener las cuchillas de su cortadora en

condición óptima, lubríquelas después de tres o

cuatro cortes de cabello, aplicando unas cuantas

gotas de aceite lubricante en los dientes de las

cuchillas. Encienda

la cortadora durante

un minuto, luego

apáguela. El aceite

lubricante fue

específicamente diseñado para las cortadoras de

alta velocidad de Conair®. Porque es el aceite

adecuado, no reducirá la velocidad de las cuchillas.

Nunca use otro aceite para lubricar su aparato. No

hay ningún substituto al aceite de Conair.

BOTÓN DE AJUSTE DEL RECORTE

CON 5 POSICIONES

Su cortadora está equipada con un botón de ajuste

del recorte, ubicado en la parte trasera del aparato,

el cual le permite controlar lo largo del recorte a

medida que corta el cabello.

En algunos casos, el botón de ajuste del recorte le

permite cortar el cabello más corto o más largo, sin

necesidad de usar un peine accesorio. Para un corte

más corto, mueva el botón hacia arriba. El nivel más

corto es el nivel 1. Para un corte más largo, mueva

el botón lentamente hacia abajo. El nivel más largo

es el nivel 5. El ajuste más largo dejará el cabello tan

corto como el peine accesorio corto No.1.

Usar el botón de ajuste del recorte prolonga la

vida útil de las cuchillas, puesto que nunca usan

el mismo ángulo para cortar. Su cortadora puede

perder velocidad si recortes de cabello están

trabados en las cuchillas. Para limpiarlas sin tener

que removerlas, use el cepillo de limpieza provisto.

Hacer esto después de cada uso, especialmente

cuando se corta mucho cabello, mantendrá las

cuchillas en condición óptima. Si la cortadora deja

de funcionar, y que esto no soluciona el problema,

desenchúfela y afloje las cuchillas para limpiarlas.

Si la cortadora deja de cortar, pero sigue funcio-

nando, inspeccione las cuchillas. Cámbielas si

están embotadas. Puede pedir nuevas cuchillas

por correo, mandando un cheque o un giro postal

de $6,50US (incluye gastos de envío y manejo) a la

dirección más abajo.

Because a different cutting edge is used in each setting, the taper lever lengthens the life of your blades. Packed-in hair can slow down any clipper. To remove it without removing the blades, take your cleaning brush and brush the hair from the blades. If you do this after every clipping, especially with heavy hair cutting, the blades should remain free of cut hair. If clipper stops cutting and this action doesn’t help, try loosening the blades to remove the hair. If clipper stops cutting, check to see if there is a clump of hair lodged between the blades. If that is the problem, unplug the clipper and then loosen the blades to remove the hair. This clipper has a detachable blade that makes cleaning easy. Just push up on the top of the blade and it will pop off easily. Remove any loose hair with the cleaning brush provided and then place blade back in position. To secure properly, line up the base of the blade with the lower back of the clipper. Push down into place until you hear a snap to know it’s locked in place. If the clipper stops cutting but does not stop running, you will need to check the blades.
