Asphyxiation Hazard

FUEL GAS ODOR
LP gas and natural gas have man‑made odorants
added specifically for detection of fuel gas leaks.
If a gas leak occurs you should be able to smell the
fuel gas. Since Propane (LP) is heavier than air you
should smell for the gas odor low to the floor. ANY
GAS ODOR IS YOUR SIGNAL TO GO INTO IMMEDIATE
ACTION!
•Donottakeanyactionthatcouldignitethefuelgas.
Donotoperateanyelectricalswitches.Donotpull
anypowersupplyorextensioncords.Donotlight
matchesoranyothersourceofflame.Donotuseyour
telephone.
• Theapplianceshouldbeinspectedbeforeeachuse.
Frequentcleaningmayberequired.Thecontrol
compartments,burnerandcirculatingairpassagewaysof
theappliancemustbekeptclean,seeMAINTENANCE.
• DONOTusethisheaterifanyparthasbeenunderwater.

leak,keepoutofalllowareas.
•Useyourneighbor’sphoneandcallyourfuelgas
supplierandyourfiredepartment.Donotre-enterthe
buildingorarea.
•Stayoutofthebuildingandawayfromtheareauntil
declaredsafebythefirefightersandyourfuelgas
supplier.
•FINALLY,letthefuelgasservicepersonandthe
firefighterscheckforescapedgas.Havethemairout
thebuildingandareabeforeyoureturn.Properly
trainedservicepeoplemustrepairanyleaks,checkfor
furtherleakages,andthenrelighttheapplianceforyou.
ODOR FADING ‑ NO ODOR DETECTED
•Somepeoplecannotsmellwell.Somepeoplecannot
smelltheodoroftheman-madechemicaladdedto
propane(LP)ornaturalgas.Youmustdetermineifyou
cansmelltheodorantinthesefuelgases.
•Learntorecognizetheodorofpropane(LP)gasand
naturalgas.Localpropane(LP)gasdealerswillbemore
thanhappytogiveyouascratchandsniffpamphlet.
Useittobecomefamiliarwiththefuelgasodor.
•Smokingcandecreaseyourabilitytosmell.Being
aroundanodorforaperiodoftimecanaffectyour
sensitivitytothatparticularodor.Odorspresentin
animalconfinementbuildingscanmaskfuelgasodor.
•The odorant in propane (LP) gas and natural gas
is colorless and the intensity of its odor can fade
under some circumstances.
•Ifthereisanundergroundleak,themovementofgas
throughthesoilcanfiltertheodorant.
•Propane(LP)gasodormaydifferinintensityatdifferent
levels.SincePropane(LP)gasisheavierthanair,there
maybemoreodoratlowerlevels.
• Always be sensitive to the slightest gas odor. Ifyou
continuetodetectanygasodor,nomatterhowsmall,
treatitasaseriousleak.Immediatelygointoactionas
discussedpreviously.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
• Thisheaterissafeforindooruseinsmallrecreational
enclosureshavingmeansforprovidingcombustionair
andventilation,suchasenclosedporches,cabins,fishing
huts,trailers,tenttrailers,tents,truckcapsandvans.
Itmaybeusedforemergencyindoorheatingwhen
connectedtoadisposable1lb.propanecylinderand
forindooruseincommercialenclosures,havingmeans
forprovidingcombustionairandventilation,suchas
constructiontrailersortemporaryworkenclosures.
Note:Theheatercanbeusedoutdoors,butmayexperence
nuisanceshutoffsduetocertainwindconditions.
• Whentheheateriscoldoratroomtemperature,it
willtakeafewminutesfortheburnertiletoturn
brightorange.Thisisnormalandtheheaterisworking
properly.Ifburnertileisvisiblyflaming,turnheateroff
andcallaqualifiedservicetechnician.
• Whentheunitislit,thereshouldbeaboutaquarter
inchborderaroundthetilethatwillnotturnbright
orange.Thisisnormal.
• Whenoperatingtheheaterforthefirsttime,thetop
areaofthereflectormaydiscolor.Thisisalsonormal
andisnoreasonforconcern.
• Theprotectivegrillonthefrontofthisheateriscoated
withaspecialhigh-temperatureresistantpaint.When
theheaterisusedforthefirsttime,thegrillmaygiveoff
noticeablesmokeorfumes.Thisisnormalandwillnot
occurduringsubsequentuses.Thefumesarenotharmful.
• When operating the heater at altitudes over 7,000
FT. above sea level, the unit may not burn as bright
as in lower altitudes. This is normal. At higher
altitudes, the heater may shut off. If this happens,
provide fresh air, wait 5 minutes and re‑light. Due
to local atmospheric conditions heater may not re‑
light.
• Operatingtimewillvarydependingontheheatersetting
andthesupplycylindersize.Upto3to6hoursona1
lb.cylinder.Upto48to110hoursona20lb.cylinder
(basedon“HI”and“LO”settings).Duetotheproperties
ofLPgas,runtimescanbesignificantlyreducedwhen
operatingcontinuouslyattemperaturesbelow20ºF.Use
ofa20lb.tankisrecommendedintheseconditions.
• Whenmovingheaterwhenlitorbumpingheaterset-
tingitdown,thetipoverswitchmayshutoffheater.If
thishappens,re-light.

Visuallyinspectthe
pilotflameand
burnerperiodically
duringuse.The
pilotflameshould
beblueincolor
(notyellow)andwillextendbeyondthethermocouple.The
flamewillsurroundthethermocouplejustbelowthetip,
seeFigure5.
Aslightyellowflamemayoccurwherethepilotflame
andmainburnerflamemeet.Theburnershouldbebright
orange(withaslightbluecoloraroundtheborder,ared-
orangehazethatisvisibleontheceramictileisacceptable)
andwithoutanoticeableflame.Ablueflamethatrollsout
atthetopoftheceramictileindicatesanaccumulationof
dust,lintorspiderwebsinsidethecasingassemblyand
mainburnerassembly.Ifthepilotisyellowortheburner
hasanoticeableflame,cleaningmayberequired.Usethe
followingproceduretoinspectthecasingassemblyand
mainburnerassembly.
Itisnecessarytoperiodicallychecktheburnerorificeand
burnerventuritubetomakesuretheyareclearofinsects/
nestsorspiderwebsthatmayaccumulateovertime.A
cloggedtubecanleadtoafire.
1 Allowheatertothoroughlycoolbeforeperformingany
maintenance.
2 Removedisposable1lb.cylinderfromheaterorturn
OFFgassupplyatremotecylindervalve,anddisconnect
hosefromheater.
3 Remove(4)fourscrewsthatsecuretherearcoverto
theHeater.
4 Pivotcoveroutwardfrombottom.Releasefrom2top
clips.Setaside.
5 Remove(4)fourburnerretainingscrewsandfuelline
fromburnerassembly.Removeburnerassemblyfrom
backofhousing.
6 Inspectinteriorofcasingassemblyforaccumulation
ofdust,lintorspiderwebs.Ifnecessary,cleaninterior
ofcasingassemblywithavacuumcleanerorapplyair
pressure.Donotdamageanycomponentswithincasing
assemblywhenyouarecleaning.
7 Inspectandcleanmainburnerorifice(threadedinto
orificeholder).Orificeholderisattachedtotheburner
assemblyventuriwith(2)twoscrews.
8 Inspectandcleanpilot(mountedtobracket)byusinga
vacuumorapplyairpressurethroughtheholesinthe
pilotindicatedbythearrowsinFigure5.
WARNING:Neveruseneedles,wires,orsimilar
cylindricalobjectstocleanthepilottoavoiddamaging
thecalibratedorificethatcontrolsthegasflow.
9 Applyairpressure(max.30psi.)intoceramictileof
burnerassemblyandtheventuritube(ref.item#16)to
removedust,lintorspiderwebs.
10Reassemblemainburnerorificeholderontotheburner
assembly.
11 Reinstallburnerassemblyintotheheaterhousing
12 Reinstallfuellineandcheckforleaks.
13 Installheaterbackcover.
TROUBLESHOOTING INFORMATION:
If Spark electrode does not produce spark.

INFORMACIÓN GENERAL:
• Estecalentadoresseguroparaelusodeinteriorenpequeños
recintosrecreacionales,teniendomediosparaproporcionarel
airedecombustiónylaventilación,comopórticosincluidos,
cabinas,chozasdepesca,remolques,remolquesdetiendade
campaña,tiendasdecampaña,gorrasdecamiónyfurgonetas.
Puedeserutilizadoparalacalefaccióndeemergenciainterior
cuandoestáconectadoauncilindrodepropanodesechable
1lbyparausoeninterioresenrecintoscomerciales,quetiene
mediosparaproporcionarairedecombustiónylaventilación,
talescomolaconstrucciónderemolquesorecintosdetrabajo
temporal.

experimentarcerradosfastidioenciertascondicionesdel

• Cuandoelcalentadorestáfríooatemperaturaambiente,
elazulejodelquemadordemoraráunospocosminutosen
tornarseanaranjadobrillante.Estoesnormalyelcalentadorestá
funcionandocorrectamente.Sielazulejodelquemadortiene
llamasvisibles,apagueelcalentadoryllameauntécnicode
reparacióncalificado.
• Cuandolaunidadestáencendida,debehaberunbordede
aproximadamente6,35milímetrosalrededordelazulejoqueno
setornaráanaranjadobrillante.Estoesnormal.
• Cuandoopereelcalentadorporprimeravez,esposiblequeel
áreasuperiordelreflectorsedecolore.Estotambiénesnormaly
noesmotivodepreocupación.
• Cuando ponga en funcionamiento el calentador a altitudes
superiores a los 2.133,6 M sobre el nivel del mar, es posible
que la unidad no queme de forma tan brillante como en
altitudes más bajas. Esto es normal. A altitudes más altas,
es posible que el calentador se apague. Si esto sucede,
suministre aire puro, espere cinco 5 minutos y encienda de

• Para apagar el calentador, corte el propano del tanque de
suministro, deje que el calentador consuma el propano en
la línea de suministro hasta que se apague, luego presione
levemente la perilla de control hacia adentro y gírela en
sentido horario hasta la posición “OFF” (apagado).
• PRECAUCIÓN:Despuésdeapagarelcalentador,larejillaprotectora
permanecerácaliente.Dejeenfriarporcompletoantesdeguardar.
• Cuandonoestéenuso,sedebeapagarelgasdelcilindrode
suministrodegasPL.Comosemencionóanteriormente,deje
queelcalentadorconsumaelpropanoenlalíneadesuministro
hastaqueseapague.CuandoelcilindrodesuministrodegasPL
noestádesconectadodelcalentador,tantoelcalentadorcomo
elcilindrodebenalmacenarseenelexterior,enunespaciobien
ventilado,fueradelalcancedelosniños,ynodebealmacenarse
enningúnedificio,garajenienningunaotraáreacerrada.

ysinunallamamuynotable.Unallamaazulquesobresaledela
partesuperiordelazulejodecerámicaindicaunaacumulaciónde
polvo,pelusasotelarañasdentrodelensambledelacarcasaydel
quemadorprincipal.Sielpilotoesamarillooelquemadortieneuna
llamanotable,esposiblequeseanecesariaunalimpieza.Utilicelos
siguientesprocedimientosparainspeccionarelensambledelacarcasa
ydelquemadorprincipal.Esnecesariorevisarperiódicamenteelorificio
delquemadoryeltuboventuridelquemadorparaasegurarsedeque
estánlibresdeinsectos,nidosotelarañasquepuedenacumularsecon
eltiempo.Untuboobstruidopuedegenerarunincendio.

2 Retireelcilindrodescartablede0,45kgdelcalentadoroapague
(coloqueenOFF)elsuministrodegasenlaválvuladelcilindro
remoto,ydesconectelamangueradelcalentador.
3 Quite(4)cuatrotornillosqueaseguranlatapatraseraal
Calentador.
4 Tapadepivoteexternadefondo.Liberaciónde2clipssuperiores.

9 Apliqueaireapresiónenelazulejodecerámicadelensambledel

elpolvo,pelusaotelarañas.
10 Asegúresequeelensambledelazulejodelquemadoresté
completamenteubicadocontraelreflector.
11 Deslicecuidadosamenteelensambledelquemadorenelensamble
delacarcasaasegurándosedecentrarlapestañadelreflectorconla
aberturadelacarcasaymantengaensulugarmientrasenroscael
tornillodelensambledelquemadoralaparteinferiordelcalentador.
12 Instalandenuevolalíneadecombustibleycompruebanagujeros.
13 Instalanelcalentadoratráscubren.
INFORMACIÓN SOBRE LA SOLUCIÓN DE

Elelectrododechisparoto–sustituyeODS(SensordeReduccióndeOxígeno).
• Esposiblequeelcabledelencendedornoestéconectadoalelectrodo
dechispas,esposiblequeelconductordetierranoestéconectadoal
armazón-conéctelo.
• Elcabledelencendedorestádañado-reemplácelo.
• Elencendedorpiezotienefallas-reemplácelo.
Si el electrodo de chispas produce una chispa pero el piloto no
enciende.
VERIFIQUE SI
• Nohayflujodegasalcalentador–instaleuncilindrodescartableo
conectelamanguerayenciendalaválvulaenelcilindroremoto.
• Laposición“PILOT”(piloto)noestácorrectamentealineada–girela
perilladecontroldelgashastalaposición“PILOT”(piloto)ypresione.
• Sielpilotoestábloqueadoportelarañasosuciedad-limpieelpiloto,ver
laseccióndeMANTENIMIENTO.
Si la llama del piloto no permanece prendida cuando suelta la
perilla.
VERIFIQUE SI
• Laperilladecontrol,enposición“PILOT”(piloto),noestátotalmente
presionadaonohasidopresionadaeltiemposuficientecomopara
purgarelairedelaslíneas.
• Lallamadelpilotonorodealatermocupla-limpieelpiloto,verla

cuadrados(porejemplo:unaaberturade7,62cmx7,62cm).

denuevo.
