Sunbeam Products, Inc. doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions or if in Canada, Sunbeam Corporation (Canada)
Limited doing business as Jarden Consumer Solutions (collectively “JCS”) warrants that for a period of two years from
the date of purchase, this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship. JCS, at its option, will
repair or replace this product or any component of the product found to be defective during the warranty period.
Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or component. If the product is no longer available,
replacement may be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your exclusive warranty. Do NOT
attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or mechanical functions on this product. Doing so will void this warranty.
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of initial retail purchase and is not transferable.
Keep the original sales receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance. JCS dealers, service centers,
or retail stores selling JCS products do not have the right to alter, modify or any way change the terms and conditions of
this warranty.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage resulting from any of the following: negligent use or
misuse of the product, use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the operating instructions, disassembly,
repair or alteration by anyone other than JCS or an authorized JCS service center. Further, the warranty does not
cover: Acts of God, such as fire, flood, hurricanes and tornadoes.
What are the limits on JCS’s Liability?
JCS shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages caused by the breach of any express, implied or
statutory warranty or condition.
Except to the extent prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranty or condition of merchantability or fitness for
a particular purpose is limited in duration to the duration of the above warranty.
JCS disclaims all other warranties, conditions or representations, express, implied, statutory or otherwise.
JCS shall not be liable for any damages of any kind resulting from the purchase, use or misuse of, or inability to use
the product including incidental, special, consequential or similar damages or loss of profits, or for any breach of
contract, fundamental or otherwise, or for any claim brought against purchaser by any other party.
Some provinces, states or jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages

The estimated run time for this humidifier is based on average room conditions. The
actual run time of your humidifier is dependent on numerous variables such as:
1. Air exchange in the room where the humidifier is placed.
2. Room construction where the humidifier is placed.
3. Temperature of the room where the humidifier is placed.
4. Humidity levels in the room where the humidifier is placed.
5. Movement of occupants and the opening and closing of doors in the room where
the humidifier is placed.

1. Run your unit on the lowest setting.
2. If your unit has electronics, set it to your desired humidity level. The unit will turn
on and off, which will extend the run time.
3. Fill the tank all the way full, place it on the base, let the water empty into the base
until it stops bubbling, then refill the tank full again. This ensures maximum water
capacity and will extend run time.

18. La humedad excesiva en un cuarto puede causar
condensación de agua en las ventanas y en algunos
muebles. Si sucede esto, apague el humidificador.

aire pasa por 6 filtros de mecha cargados de humedad,
los que retienen los minerales y depósitos del agua. El
aire húmedo resultante es dirigido nuevamente al

NOTA: Este sistema de humidificación proporciona una salida
de humedad fría e invisible. Es normal que no se vea el vapor.
NOTA: Un nivel de humedad menor al 20% puede ser
nocivo e incómodo. El nivel de humedad recomendado es

INSTRUCCIONES PREVIAS AL USO

2. Elija un lugar para su humidificador, en una

que el filtro de mecha esté colocado en su lugar.

COMO LLENAR EL TANQUE DE AGUA
NOTA: Este humidificador almacena aproximadamente 1
galón de agua en su tanque y base. El humidificador
producirá hasta 2 galones de humedad en un período de 24
horas, dependiendo de la temperatura y humedad del cuarto.
1. Asegúrese de que el humidificador esté en OFF
(Apagado) y desenchúfelo del tomacorriente.
2. Quite el tanque de agua levantándolo por el asa, al
tiempo que lo mantiene en posición vertical (Ver Figura 2).

Debe tomar precauciones básicas de seguridad siempre

cuarto cerrado puede resultar en excesiva humedad).

16. Este humidificador requiere mantenimiento diario y
semanal para funcionar correctamente. Refiérase a

17. NUNCA use detergentes, gasolina, limpiavidrios, limpiador
de muebles, diluyente de pintura u otro solvente

INSTRUCCIONES DE ALMACENAMIENTO
Si no usará su humidificador por dos o más días ó porque
es el fin de estación, siga las siguientes instrucciones:
1. Limpie y seque bien el humidificador según se detalla
anteriormente en la sección: instrucciones de
mantenimiento semanales.
2. Deje secar completamente el humidificador antes de
guardarlo. No lo guarde con agua en su interior.
3. No almacene la unidad con la tapa puesta.
4. Deseche el filtro de mecha. No lo almacene con el
filtro puesto.
5. Almacene la unidad en un lugar frío y seco.
INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA Y
MANTENIMIENTO
Los humidificadores brindan confort, añadiendo humedad
en los ambientes secos. Para obtener un mayor beneficio
del humidificador y evitar que el producto se malogre,
siga todas las instrucciones de mantenimiento
cuidadosamente. Si no sigue las pautas de cuidado y
mantenimiento recomendadas, los microorganismos
pueden crecer in el agua dentro del humidificador.
MANTENIMIENTO DIARIO
1. Antes de limpiar, asegúrese de que el humidificador esté
en OFF (Apagado) y desenchúfelo del tomacorriente.
2. Levante el tanque y la cubierta del humidificador.
Quite el filtro y colóquelo en el lavamanos o bañera
ya que el mismo liberará agua cuando no esté
ubicado en el humidificador.
3. Lleve la base y el tanque al lavamanos, quite el filtro
de mecha, luego drene y enjuague bien la base y el
tanque para quitar cualquier sedimento o suciedad.
Seque las partes con un trapo suave o toallita de papel.
(NO use utensilios de metal para limpiar o limpiadores
abrasivos)
4. Coloque nuevamente el filtro en los soportes del
filtro, reemplace la cubierta, luego llene nuevamente
el tanque con agua fría de la canilla, según se detalla
en las instrucciones de llenado del tanque.
MANTENIMIENTO SEMANAL
Para quitar la escama:
1. Repita los pasos 1,2 y 3 detallados anteriormente
2. Limpie la base llenándola parcialmente con vinagre
blanco no diluido (una taza de 8oz.), o utilizando
Cleanse Clean
®
de Holmes. Deje que la solución
repose por unos 20 minutos, limpie todas las
superficies interiores con un cepillo de cerda suave.
3. Humedezca un paño en vinagre blanco no diluido y
páselo por toda la base para quitar toda la escama.
4. Enjuague con agua tibia para quitar la escama y la
solución de vinagre blanca antes de comenzar a

Para desinfectar la base y el tanque del
humidificador:
1. Llene el tanque con 1/2 cucharadita de blanqueador

3. Gire la tapa del tanque ubicada en la parte inferior
del tanque en sentido anti-horario y llene el tanque
de agua con agua pura y fría.
No lo llene con agua tibia ya que puede
producir filtraciones.
4. Luego de llenar el tanque, reemplace la tapa del
mismo girando firmemente en sentido horario y luego
reemplace el agua del tanque en la base. El tanque
comenzará inmediatamente a vaciarse en la base.
5. Enchufe el cable de corriente en un tomacorriente de
120 voltios AC.
INSTRUCCIONES DE USO
1. Gire la perilla de potencia a la regulación deseada,
LOW (I) ó HIGH (II).
2. Cuando haya alcanzado el nivel de humedad
deseado, puede girar la perilla de potencia a un nivel
más bajo a fin de disminuir el porcentaje de humedad.
NOTA: Espere al menos 30 minutos para que el filtro
absorba completamente el agua y para que la unidad
emita la máxima humedad.
3. Usted debe llenar nuevamente el tanque cuando esté
vacío y no haya casi agua en la base. El ventilador
continuará andando para ayudar a que el
humidificador se seque. Apague y desenchufe la
unidad. Por favor, siga las instrucciones diarias de
limpieza antes de volver a llenar el tanque de agua.
4. Vuelva a llenar el tanque según se detalla en la
sección: Indicaciones previas al uso.
Si planea no usar su humidificador por dos o más días,
asegúrese de drenar el agua residual del tanque de agua,
de la base y del filtro de mecha a fin de evitar la

REEMPLAZO DE LOS FILTROS
Durante el uso normal de la unidad, los minerales y

Después de 60 minutos de haber estado funcionando la

Cuando la aguja esté en el área CAMBIAR, significa que la

18. Excessive humidity in a room can cause water
condensation on windows and some furniture. If this
happens, turn the humidifier OFF.
19. Do not use humidifier in an area where humidity
level is in excess of 50%. Use a hygrometer,
available at your local retailer or through the
manufacturer, to measure the humidity.
20. DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or
mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void
your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user
serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed
by qualified personnel only.
21. Never place housing under water flow or immerse in
liquids.
22. Do not plug in the cord with wet hands: electric shock
could result.
23. Do not pour water in any openings other than the
water tank.
24. To prevent damage to surfaces, do not place
humidifier under overhanging surfaces.
25. NEVER operate unit without water in the tank.
26. Do not move unit after it has been used until unit
cools completely.
27. Use both hands when carrying full tank of water.

Cord and Plug Installation Safety Instructions
The length of cord used on this appliance was selected to
reduce the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping
over a longer cord. If a longer cord is necessary an
approved extension cord may be used. The electrical
rating of the extension cord must be equal to or greater
than the rating of the humidifier. Care must be taken to
arrange the extension cord so that it will not drape over
the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by
children or accidentally tripped over.
HOW COOL MIST WORKS
Your Holmes
®
Cool Mist humidifier draws dry air through
the rear air intake grill area. This air is then passed
through a moisture–laden wick filter, which retains the
minerals and deposits in the water. The resulting moist air
is directed back into the room from the top air grill.
NOTE: This humidification system provides a cool,
invisible moisture output. It is normal not to see the mist.
NOTE: A humidity level below 20% can be unhealthy
and uncomfortable. The recommended humidity level is
between 40%-50%.
PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Be sure the humidifier is switched OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2. Select a location for your humidifier, on a flat
surface, about 4" away from the wall. Do not place
your humidifier on furniture or under an
overhanging surface; a floor location that will not be
damaged by moisture is best.
3. Remove the water tank by holding the tank handle
and lifting straight upward (see Figure 2).
4. Remove the main housing by lifting straight upward.
Check to see that the wick filter is properly in place.
Replace the humidifier housing.
FILLING THE WATER TANK
NOTE: This humidifier holds about 1 gallon of water in
the tank and humidifier base. The humidifier will produce
up to 2 gallons of moisture over a 24-Hour period,
depending on the room humidity and temperature.
1. Be sure the humidifier is switched OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2. Remove the tank from the base by holding the
handle and lifting straight up (see Figure 2).

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric

stoves, radiators, and heaters. DO locate your
humidifier on an inside wall near an electrical outlet.
The humidifier should be at least 4” away from the
wall for best results.
5. NEVER place humidifier in an area where it is
accessible to children. NEVER use humidifier in a
closed room, particularly where a child may be
sleeping, resting, or playing (a closed room may
result in excessive humidity).
6. WARNING: Do not attempt to refill humidifier
without first unplugging the unit from its electrical
outlet. Failure to heed this warning may cause
personal injury. Be sure to unplug the unit by pulling
on the plug and not the cord.
7. Never place anything over moisture outlet when the
unit is running.
8. NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
9. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord
or plug, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has
been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return
appliance to manufacturer for examination, electrical
or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
10. Use appliance only for intended household use as
described in this manual. Any other use not
recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire,
electric shock, or injury to persons. The use of
attachments not recommended or sold by the
manufacturer may cause hazards.
11. DO NOT use outdoors.
12. Always place humidifier on a firm, flat, level surface.
A waterproof mat or pad is recommended for use
under the humidifier. NEVER place it on a rug or
carpet, or on a finished floor that may be damaged
by exposure to water or moisture.
13. DO NOT allow the Moisture Outlet to directly face the
wall. Moisture could cause damage, particularly to
wall paper.
14. Humidifier should be unplugged when not in use.
15. NEVER tilt, move, or attempt to empty unit while it is
operating. Shut off and unplug before removing the
water tank and moving the unit.
16. This humidifier requires daily and weekly
maintenance to operate appropriately. Refer to daily
and weekly cleaning procedures. Use only cleaners
and additives recommended by the manufacturer.
17. NEVER use detergents, gasoline, glass cleaner,
furniture polish, paint thinner, or other household
solvents to clean any part of the humidifier.
1. Be sure the humidifier is switched OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2. Remove the tank and main housing to access the
base tray.
3. Discard the old filter and follow weekly cleaning
instructions.
4. Insert a new filter into the filter support in the base.
5. Replace the main housing and then the tank.
6. Repeat Operating Instruction steps.
It will take about 30 minutes for the humidifier to reach
maximum output.
NOTE: You can purchase replacement filters (model
HWF62) at a local retailer, by calling 1-800-546-5637,
filling out the accessory card, or by visiting
www.holmesproducts.com. It is recommended that a
replacement filter is purchased for uninterrupted use.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
If your humidifier will not be in use for two days or more,
or at the end of the season follow these instructions.
1. Clean and dry the humidifier thoroughly as per the
Weekly Maintenance instructions above.
2. Let the humidifier dry completely before storing. Do
not store with water inside the base.
3. Do not store with the reservoir cap in place.
4. Throw away the wicking filter. Do not store with wick
filter in place.
5. Store in a cool dry location.
CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Humidifiers provide comfort by adding moisture to dry
indoor air. To get the most of the benefit from the
humidifier and avoid product failure, follow all maintenance
instructions carefully. If the recommended care and
maintenance guidelines are not followed, micro-organisms
may be able to grow in the water within the humidifier.
DAILY MAINTENANCE
1. Before cleaning, be sure the humidifier is switched
OFF and disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2. Lift off the tank and the housing of the humidifier.
Remove filter and place in sink or tub as the filter
will release water when not in the humidifier.
3. Carry the base and the tank to the sink, remove the
wick filter, then drain and rinse the base and tank
thoroughly to remove any sediment and dirt. Wipe
clean and dry with a clean soft cloth or paper towel.
(DO NOT use metal cleaning utensils or abrasive
cleaners)
4. Put the filter back in the filter supports, replace the
housing, then refill the tank with cool tap water as
instructed in filling the water tank instructions.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
Remove scale:
1. Repeat steps 1-3 above.
2. Clean the base by partially filling the base with one
8-oz cup of undiluted white vinegar, or by using
Cleanse Clean
®
by Holmes. Let solution stand 20
minutes, clean all interior surfaces with a soft brush.
3. Dampen a cloth with undiluted white vinegar and
wipe out entire base to remove scale.
4. Rinse with clean warm water to remove scale and the
white vinegar solution before beginning to disinfect
the tank.
To Disinfect Humidifier base and Tank:
1. Fill tank with 1/2 teaspoon of chlorine bleach and
1/2 gallon of water.
2. Let the solution stand for 20 minutes, swishing every
few minutes. Wet all surfaces.
3. Empty the tank after 20 minutes, and rinse well with
water until the bleach smell is gone. Dry with a clean
cloth or paper towel.
4. Refill the water tank with cool water; replace the
housing and the water tank. Repeat ALL Operating
Instructions.
Please DO NOT attempt to open or repair the
humidifier. Please see the Warranty for Service
Instructions or call consumer service at
1-800-546-5637.
3. Twist off the tank cap located on the bottom of the
tank by turning counter clockwise and fill the water
tank with cool, fresh water.
Do not fill with warm water as this may
cause leaking.
4. After filling the tank, replace the tank cap by firmly
turning clockwise and then replace the water tank on
the base. The tank will immediately begin to empty
into the base.
5. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn the Power knob to the desired setting, LOW (I)
or HIGH (II).
2. When the desired humidity level is reached the power
knob can be set to a lower setting to reduce the
humidification rate.
NOTE: Allow up to 30 minutes for the filter to fully
absorb water and the unit to produce the maximum
moisture output.
3. When the water tank is empty and the water in the
base is almost empty, you need to refill the tank. The
fan will continue to run to help dry the humidifier.
Switch off and unplug the unit. Please follow the Daily
Cleaning instructions before refilling the water tank.
4. Refill the tank as directed in the Pre-Operating
Instructions.
If you do not plan to use the humidifier for two or more
days, make sure any residual water is drained from the
water tank, base and wick filter to prevent algae or
bacteria growth.
REPLACING THE FILTERS
Through normal use, waterborne minerals and sediment
become trapped in the wick filter. The harder your water,
the greater the amount of minerals in the water, and the
more often you will need to change your filter.
You will be able to monitor the life of the filter in your
humidifier by checking the FilterCheck
®
Indicator. When
the unit is off, the FilterCheck
®
Indicator will read in the
OFF position. After 60 minutes of use, FilterCheck
®
Indicator (refer to fig. 3 for close-up of indicator) will
move from the OFF position and indicate your filter
condition. A brand new filter will register in the GOOD
section. After frequent use of your humidifier, the
FilterCheck
®
Indicator will let you know when the filter
needs to be changed.
When the needle is in
the CHANGE section,
this means the
proper amount of
moisture is not
getting into your air
due to the excessive
minerals and sediment that have become trapped on your
filter. At this point, you should replace your filter. It is
important to change your filter as indicated to obtain
stated performance level.
To replace the filter, follow the steps below.
