Before throwing away an old appliance: Ensure that component parts are replaced with like components and that servicing is done by factory authorized service personnel, to minimize the risk of possible ignition due to incorrect parts or improper service. • Remove the door or lid. • Leave the shelves in place so that children cannot easily climb inside. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) whose physical, sensory or mental capabilities may be different or reduced, or who lack experience or knowledge, unless such persons receive supervision or training to operate the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This appliance must be grounded. In the event of an electrical short circuit, grounding reduces the risk of electrical shock by providing an escape wire for the electrical current. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. This appliance is equipped with a power cord that has a grounding wire with a grounding plug. The power cord must be plugged into an outlet that is properly installed and grounded. If the outlet is a standard 2-prong wall outlet, it is your obligation to have it replaced with a properly grounded 3-prong wall outlet. The serial rating plate indicates the voltage and frequency the appliance is designed for. WARNING: Keep ventilation openings, in the appliance enclosure or in the built-in structure, clear of obstruction. WARNING: Do not use mechanical devices or other means to accelerate the defrosting process, other than those recommended by the manufacturer. WARNING - Improper use of the grounding plug can result in a risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician or service agent if the grounding instructions are not completely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded. WARNING: Do not damage the refrigerant circuit. WARNING: Do not use electrical appliances inside the food storage compartments of the appliance, unless they are of the type recommended by the manufacturer. DO NOT USE AN EXTENSION CORD Do not connect your appliance to extension cords or together with another appliance in the same wall outlet. Do not splice the power cord. Do not under any circumstances cut or remove the third ground prong from the power cord. WARNING EXPLOSION HAZARD Risk of fire or explosion due to puncturing refrigerant tubing. Do not use sharp objects to aid in defrost. Please handle with care. Keep flammable materials and vapors such as gasoline away from the refrigerator. Only use nonflammable cleaner. If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similar qualified person in order to avoid hazard. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS! 2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS LOCATION FEATURES • Two people should be used when moving the appliance. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. • Remove interior and exterior packaging prior to installation. Wipe the outside of the appliance with a soft, dry cloth and the inside with a lukewarm wet cloth. Lid Handle Cabinet Control Panel Defrost Drain Ventilation Cover (Not pictured; on right side of unit.) • Place the appliance on a floor that is strong enough to support it when it is fully loaded. There are two wire baskets supplied with this appliance. • Do not place the appliance in direct sunlight or near sources of heat, such as a stove or heater, as this can increase electrical consumption. Extreme cold ambient temperatures may also cause the appliance to perform improperly. There are four rollers installed on this appliance. 1 2 • Do not use the appliance near water, for example, in a wet basement or near a sink. 3 • This appliance is intended for indoor household use only. It is not designed for outside installation, including anywhere that is not temperature controlled (garages, porches, vehicles, etc.). 4 5 • Before connecting the appliance to a power source, let it stand upright for approximately 6 hours. This will reduce the possibility of a malfunction in the cooling system from handling during transportation. IMPORTANT NOTE • This appliance is 165 cm (65 inches) wide by 83.5 cm (32.9 inches) high by 73 cm (28.8 inches) deep. Make sure that you leave the minimum amount of space between the appliance and all surrounding walls and vents. The freezer lid may be difficult to open immediately after closing it. This is normal and is due to the pressure difference between the cold interior of the freezer and the warm air that has just entered the freezer when the lid was opened. The pressure will equalize within a few minutes. • Allow 12.7 cm (5 inches) of space between the back, sides and top of the appliance and all adjacent walls. If the lid is especially difficult to open, wait 5 minutes to allow the pressure to equalize and then try again. • This appliance is intended for free-standing installation only and is not intended to be built into a cabinet or counter. Building in this appliance can cause it to malfunction. The interior dimensions of this appliance are: 150.4 cm (59 inches) wide by 65 cm (25.6 inches) high by 54.5 cm (21.5 inches) deep. 3 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS TEMPERATURE SELECTION The temperature of the appliance can be adjusted by turning the thermostat dial. To achieve the maximum cooling temperature quickly: • For best results, the appliance should be empty. Power • Turn the temperature control knob to “5” on the dial. “1” is the warmest temperature setting, “5” is the coldest temperature setting. 3 Run 4 • The temperature range of the appliance is approximately -12°C (10.4°F) to -30°C (-22°F). 2 • The temperature inside the appliance can vary based on ambient room temperature, the frequency that the lid is opened and the amount of fresh food that has recently been added to the unit. O FF 5 1 • Allow the appliance to run at the coldest setting for 3 - 4 hours. • When maximum cooling is achieved, turn the control knob to the desired setting. The setting “3” should be satisfactory for home use. Tips when storing fresh food • To stop the cooling function, turn the control knob to the “OFF” position. • Place fresh food close to the side walls to encourage faster freezing. Indicator Lights • The freezing capacity of this appliance is 5 Kg (10 Lbs.) in 24 hours. • Red LED: Indicates that the appliance is connected to a power source. • Do not overload the appliance as this can affect performance. • Green LED: Indicates that the compressor is working. • Do not freeze large quantities of fresh food at the same time. 4 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS DEFROSTING 1 This appliance should be defrosted approximately twice a year or when a 6 mm (1/4 inch) layer of frost has formed. Turn the appliance control knob to the "OFF" position and unplug the power cord. Remove all contents and leave the lid open. Follow the instructions below: 1. The interior defrost drain is located on the inside floor of the cabinet. Remove the rubber cover from the defrost drain. Defrosted water will flow into the hole and out through the exterior defrost drain cap. See Figure 1. 2 2. The exterior defrost drain cap is located on the front of the cabinet. Gently pull out the exterior drain cap approximately 20 - 25 mm until the water hole is visible. See Figure 2. 3. Twist the exterior drain cap so that the arrow points downward. See Figure 3. 4. Place a bucket or pan under the drain cap to catch defrosted water. Check the appliance regularly during defrosting to ensure that the water is not overflowing. 3 5. When all water has been drained, twist the drain cap until the arrow is pointing upwards and then push inward until it is flush with the cabinet. See Figure 4. 6. Replace the rubber cover in the interior defrost drain. After defrosting is complete, set the temperature control to maximum for 2 to 3 hours before returning to the desired temperature setting. 4 IMPORTANT Never use electrical appliances during defrosting. Do not use pointed or sharp objects to remove frost as this can damage the refrigerant lines. If these lines are accidentally pierced it will render the freezer inoperable and void the manufacturer’s warranty. 5 CARE & MAINTENANCE CLEANING ENERGY SAVING TIP Ensure the appliance is unplugged before cleaning. The appliance should be located in the coolest area of the room, away from heat producing appliances, and out of direct sunlight. Do not overload the unit or block any ventilation openings. • To clean the inside of the appliance, use a soft cloth and a solution of a tablespoon of baking soda to one quart of water or a mild soap solution or some mild detergent. MOVING • Clean the outside with a soft, damp cloth and some mild detergent. • Remove all items. • It is important to keep the area where the lid seals against the cabinet clean to ensure a tight seal. Clean this area with a soapy cloth. Rinse with a damp cloth and let dry. • Tape the lid shut. • Be sure the appliance stays secure in the upright position during transportation. Also protect the outside of the appliance with a blanket or similar item. Note: Do not use cleaners containing ammonia or alcohol on the appliance. Ammonia or alcohol can damage the appearance of the appliance. Never use any commercial or abrasive cleaners or sharp objects on any part of the appliance. • If the appliance is placed on its back or side during transportation, upon reaching the destination, allow it to remain in its operating position for 6 hours to avoid damage to internal components. POWER FAILURE Most power failures are corrected within a few hours and should not affect the temperature of your appliance if you minimize the number of times the door is opened. If the power is going to be off for a longer period of time, take the proper steps to protect your contents. DISPOSAL This appliance may not be treated as regular household waste, it should be taken to the appropriate waste collection point for recycling of electrical components. For information on local waste collection points, contact your local waste removal agency or government office. Note: Wait 3 to 5 minutes before attempting to restart the refrigerator if operation has been interrupted. Disposal of this appliance should be in accordance with federal and local regulations. VACATION • Short vacations: Leave the appliance operating during vacations of less than three weeks. • Long vacations: If the appliance will not be used for several months, remove all items and turn off the appliance. Defrost, clean and dry the interior thoroughly. En aucun cas, couper ou retirer la troisième broche du cordon d’alimentation. Pour atteindre rapidement la température de refroidissement maximale: • Pour de meilleurs résultats, l’appareil doit être vide. • Tournez le bouton de contrôle de la température à “5” sur le cadran. “1” est le réglage de température le plus chaud, “5” est le réglage de température le plus froid. Indicateurs lumineux • Placez près des aliments frais aux parois latérales pour favoriser la congélation plus rapide. • LED rouge: indique que l’appareil est connecté à une source d’alimentation. • La capacité de congélation de cet appareil est de 5 Kg (10 Lbs.) en 24 heures. • LED verte: indique que le compresseur fonctionne. • Ne pas surcharger l’appareil car cela peut affecter les performances. • Ne pas congeler de grandes quantités de nourriture fraîche en même temps. 12 CONSIGNES D’UTILISATION DÉGIVRAGE 1 Cet appareil doit être dégivré environ deux fois par an ou lorsqu’une couche de givre de 6 mm (1/4 de pouce) est formé. Tournez le bouton de commande de l’appareil sur la position “OFF” et débranchez le cordon d’alimentation. Retirez tous les contenus et laissez le couvercle ouvert. Suivez les instructions ci-dessous: 1. Le drain de dégivrage intérieur est situé sur le plancher intérieur de l’armoire. Retirez le couvercle en caoutchouc du drain de dégivrage. L’eau dégivrée coule dans le trou et sort à travers le bouchon de vidange de dégivrage extérieur. Voir la figure 1. 2 2. Le bouchon de vidange de dégivrage extérieur est situé à l’avant de l’armoire. Retirez délicatement le bouchon de vidange extérieur d’environ 20 à 25 mm jusqu’à ce que le trou d’eau soit visible. Voir la figure 2. 3. Si ces lignes sont accidentellement percées, cela rend le congélateur inopérant et annulera la garantie du fabricant. 13 SOINS ET ENTRETIEN NETTOYAGE Assurez-vous que l’appareil est débranché avant de nettoyer une partie de l’appareil. • Pour nettoyer l’intérieur de l’appareil, utilisez un chiffon doux et une solution d’une cuillère à soupe de bicarbonate de soude à un quart d’eau ou une solution de savon doux ou un détergent doux. • Nettoyez l’extérieur avec un chiffon doux et humide et un peu de détergent doux. • Il est important de garder la région de scellement de la porte sur l’armoire propre. Nettoyez avec un tissu savonneux, rincez le région et puis séchez. Remarque: N’utilisez pas de produits nettoyants comprenant de l’ammoniaque ou de l’alcool sur l’appareil. CONSEIL RELATIF AUX ÉCONOMIES D’ÉNERGIE L’appareil doit être situé dans la zone la plus fraiche de la pièce, loin des appareils de production de chaleur et hors de la lumière directe du soleil.
