SAVE THIS WARRANTY INFORMATION
A. This Warranty applies only to the original purchaser of this product.
B. This Warranty applies ONLY to repair or replacement of any supplied or manufactured parts of this product that, upon inspection
by JCS/THG, LLC authorized personnel, is shown to have failed in normal use due to defects in material or workmanship. JCS/THG,
LLC will determine whether to repair or replace the unit. This Warranty does not apply to installation expenses.
C. Operating this unit under conditions other than those recommended or at voltages other than the voltage indicated
on the unit, or attempting to service or modify the unit, will render this WARRANTY VOID.
D.Unless otherwise proscribed by law, JCS/THG, LLC shall not be liable for any personal injury,
property or any incidental or consequential damage of any kind resulting from malfunctions, defects,
misuse, improper installation or alteration of this product.
E. All parts of this product excluding filters, which are covered under separate warranty, are guaranteed for a period
of 3 years as follows:
1. Within the first 30 days from date of purchase, the store from which you purchased your product should replace this
product if it is defective in material or workmanship (provided the store has in-stock replacement.) If you intend to
assert any claim in connection with the product, please follow the instructions in paragraph F.
2. Within the thirty six months from date of purchase, JCS/THG, LLC will repair or replace the product if it is defective
in material or workmanship, subject to the conditions in paragraph G.
F. If you have any other problem or claim in connection with this product, please write our Consumer Service Department.
G.IMPORTANT RETURN INSTRUCTIONS. Your Warranty depends on your following these instructions if you are returning
the unit to JCS/THG, LLC:
1. Carefully pack the item in its original carton or other suitable box to avoid damage in shipping.
2. Before packing your unit for return, be sure to enclose:
a) Your name, full address with zip code and telephone number
b) A dated sales receipt or PROOF OF PURCHASE,
c) Your $7.50 (USD) check for return shipping and handling, and
d) The model number of the unit and the problem you are having. (Enclose in an envelope and tape directly to
the unit before the box is sealed.)
3. JCS/THG, LLC recommends you ship the package U.P.S. ground service for tracking purposes.
4. All shipping charges must be prepaid by you.

If your humidifier will not be in use for two days or more, or at the end of the season follow these instructions.
1. Clean, rinse and thoroughly dry the humidifier as directed in the weekly maintenance section. DO NOT leave any
water inside the base or tray.
2. Remove the tank cap. Do not store with the tank cap in place.
3. Place the humidifier in the original carton and store in a cool, dry place.
4. Always clean the humidifier before the next season begins.
5. Order a replacement filter to start the next season.

The estimated run time for this humidifier is based on average room conditions. The
actual run time of your humidifier is dependent on numerous variables such as:
1. Air exchange in the room where the humidifier is placed.
2. Room construction where the humidifier is placed.
3. Temperature of the room where the humidifier is placed.
4. Humidity levels in the room where the humidifier is placed.
5. Movement of occupants and the opening and closing of doors in the room where
the humidifier is placed.
6. Home furnishings in the room where the humidifier is placed.

1. Run your unit on the lowest setting.
2. If your unit has electronics, set it to your desired humidity level. The unit will turn
on and off, which will extend the run time.
3. Fill the tank all the way full, place it on the base, let the water empty into the base
until it stops bubbling, then refill the tank full again. This ensures maximum water
capacity and will extend run time.

CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS
Humidifiers provide comfort by adding moisture to dry
indoor air. To get the most of the benefit from the
humidifier and avoid product failure, follow all
maintenance instructions carefully. If the recommended
care and maintenance guidelines are not followed,micro-
organisms may be able to grow in the water within the
humidifier.
DAILY MAINTENANCE
1. Before cleaning, be sure the humidifier is OFF and
disconnected from the electrical outlet.
2. Lift off the tank and the housing of the humidifier.
Remove filter and place in sink or tub as the filter will
release water when not in the humidifier.
3. Carry the base and the tank to the sink, then drain and
rinse the base and tank thoroughly to remove any
sediment and dirt. Wipe clean and dry with a clean soft
cloth or paper towel. (DO NOT use metal cleaning
utensils or abrasive cleaners)
4. Put the filter back in the filter supports, replace the
housing, then refill the tank with cool tap water as
instructed in filling the water tank instructions.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
To Remove Scale:
1. Repeat steps 1-3 above.
2. Clean the base by partially filling the base with one 8-oz
cup of undiluted white vinegar, or by using
Cleanse Clean
®
by Holmes. Let solution stand 20
minutes, clean all interior surfaces with a soft brush.
3. Dampen a cloth with undiluted white vinegar and wipe
out entire base to remove scale.
4. Rinse with clean warm water to remove scale and the
white vinegar solution before beginning to disinfect
the tank.
To Disinfect Humidifier Base and Tank:
1. Fill tank with 1/2 teaspoon of chlorine bleach and 1/2
gallon of water.
2. Let the solution stand for 20 minutes, swishing every
few minutes. Wet all surfaces.
3. Empty the tank after 20 minutes, and rinse well with
water until the bleach smell is gone. Dry with a clean
cloth or paper towel.
4. Refill the water tank with cool water; replace the
housing and the water tank. Repeat ALL Operating
Instructions.

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions
should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric
shock, and injury to persons, including the following:
1. Read all instructions before using the appliance.

The humidifier should be at least 4” away from the

closed room, particularly where a child may be
sleeping, resting, or playing (a closed room may result
in excessive humidity).
6. WARNING: Do not attempt to refill humidifier without
first unplugging the unit from its electrical outlet.
Failure to heed this warning may cause personal
injury. Be sure to unplug the unit by pulling on the
plug and not the cord.
7. Never place anything over moisture outlet when the
unit is running.
8. NEVER drop or insert any object into any openings.
9. DO NOT operate any appliance with a damaged cord
or plug, after the appliance malfunctions, or if it has
been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return
appliance to manufacturer for examination, electrical
or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
10. Use appliance only for intended household use as

12. Always place humidifier on a firm, flat, level surface.
A waterproof mat or pad is recommended for use
under the humidifier. NEVER place it on a rug or
carpet, or on a finished floor that may be damaged by
exposure to water or moisture.
13. DO NOT allow the Moisture Outlet to directly face the
wall. Moisture could cause damage, particularly to
wall paper.
14. Humidifier should be unplugged when not in use.
15. NEVER tilt, move, or attempt to empty unit while it is
operating. Shut off and unplug before removing the
water tank and moving the unit.
16. This humidifier requires daily and weekly maintenance
to operate appropriately. Refer to daily and weekly
cleaning procedures. Use only cleaners and additives
recommended by the manufacturer.
17. NEVER use detergents, gasoline, glass cleaner,
furniture polish, paint thinner, or other household
solvents to clean any part of the humidifier.
18. Excessive humidity in a room can cause water
condensation on windows and some furniture. If this
happens, turn the humidifier OFF.
19. Do not use humidifier in an area where humidity level
is in excess of 50%. Use a hygrometer, available at
your local retailer or through the manufacturer, to
measure the humidity.
20. DO NOT attempt to repair or adjust any electrical or
mechanical functions on this unit. Doing so will void
your warranty. The inside of the unit contains no user
serviceable parts. All servicing should be performed
by qualified personnel only.
21. Never place housing under water flow or immerse in
liquids.
22. Do not plug in the cord with wet hands: electric shock
could result.
23. Do not pour water in any openings other than the
water tank.
24. To prevent damage to surfaces, do not place
humidifier under overhanging surfaces.
25. NEVER operate unit without water in the tank.
26. Do not move unit after it has been used until unit cools
completely.
27. Use both hands when carrying full tank of water.

NOTE: This is an electrical appliance and requires
attention when in use.
NOTE: If moisture forms on the walls or windows of the
room, turn off the humidifier. The room already has plenty
of humidity and additional moisture may cause damage.
NOTE: DO NOT block air inlet or outlet.
Cord and Plug Installation Safety Instructions
The length of cord used on this appliance was selected to reduce
the hazards of becoming tangled in, or tripping over a longer
cord. If a longer cord is necessary an approved extension
cord may be used. The electrical rating of the extension cord
must be equal to or greater than the rating of the humidifier.
Care must be taken to arrange the extension cord so that it
will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can
be pulled on by children or accidentally tripped over.
HOW COOL MIST WORKS
Your Holmes Cool Mist humidifier draws dry air through
the rear air intake grill area. This air is then passed
through a moisture–laden wick filter, which retains the
minerals and deposits in the water. The resulting moist air
is directed back into the room from the top air grill.
NOTE: This humidification system provides a cool,
invisible moisture output. It is normal not to see the mist.
NOTE: A humidity level below 20% can be unhealthy and
uncomfortable. The recommended humidity level is
between 40%-50%.
PRE-OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Select a location for your humidifier, on a flat surface,
about 4" away from the wall. Do not place your
humidifier on furniture; a floor location that will not be
damaged by moisture is best.
2. Remove the water tank by holding the tank handle
and lifting straight upward (see Figure 1).
3. Remove the main housing by lifting straight upward.
Check to see that the wick filter is properly in place.
Replace the humidifier housing.
FILLING THE WATER TANK
NOTE: This humidifier holds about 2.25 gallons of water
in the tank and humidifier base. The humidifier will
produce up to 4 gallons of moisture over a 24-Hour period,
depending on the room humidity and temperature.
1. Push the 1Touch
®
(MODE/OFF) button for 2 seconds to
turn the unit OFF and disconnect from the electrical outlet.
2. Remove the tank from the base by holding the handle
and lifting straight up (see Figure 1).
3. Twist off the tank cap located on the bottom of the
tank by turning counter clockwise and fill the water
tank with cool, fresh water. Do not fill with warm water
as this may cause leaking.
4. After filling the tank, replace the tank cap by firmly
turning clockwise and then replace the water tank on
the base. The tank will immediately begin to empty
into the base.
5. Plug the power cord into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Your humidifier is equipped with a technologically advanced
1Touch
®
Electronic Humidistat. You can set the humidifier to
run continuously in manual mode or set the 1Touch
®
Electronic
Humidistat to your desired humidity setting. The 1Touch
®
Electronic Humidistat will automatically turn the humidifier ON
or OFF, depending on the preset comfort level. The comfort
level ranges between 35% and 55% relative humidity.
MANUAL MODE INSTRUCTIONS
1. Plug the humidifier into a 120V AC electrical outlet.
2. To start the unit, push the MODE/OFF button once for
the HI manual setting. (See Figure 1)
3. Press the button again for the LO manual setting. (See
Figure 1)
4. To stop the unit, press and hold the MODE/OFF button
for two seconds, or keep pressing the button until all
the humidity indicators are OFF.
NOTE: In Manual Mode, only the LO or HI power light will be lit.

HUMIDISTAT INSTRUCTIONS
To take advantage of the 1Touch
®
Electronic Humidistat,
press the MODE/OFF button until the speed is set in either
the HIGH or LOW setting, and the Desired Humidity is set.
When the humidity level rises above the set humidity, the
humidifier will stop. When the humidity level drops below
the set humidity, the humidifier will turn on automatically.
NOTE: When the 1Touch
®
Electronic Humidistat is set,
either the HI or LO power light and the percent humidity
light will remain lit during operation. (See Figure 1.)
NOTE: Allow up to 30 minutes for the filter to fully absorb
water and for the unit to produce moisture.
NOTE: The 1Touch
®
Humidifier has memory. This means
that when you turn the unit back on, it will be at the last
setting the humidifier was set at.
If you do not plan to use the humidifier for two or more days,
make sure any residual water is drained from the water tank,
base and wick filter to prevent algae or bacteria growth.
EXTENDED RUN TIME SETTING:
By setting you humidifier to a specific humidity level, you
are actually also extending the run time. Since the unit will
turn on and off to maintain the set humidity level, less
water will be used, so you will need to fill the unit less than
you would on manual setting.
REPLACING THE FILTER
Through normal use, waterborne minerals and sediment
become trapped in the wick filter. The harder your water,
the greater the amount of minerals in the water, and the
more often you will need to change your filter.
You will be able to monitor the life of the filter in your
humidifier by checking the FilterCheck
®
Indicator. When
the unit is off, the FilterCheck
®
Indicator will read in the
OFF position. After 60 minutes of use, FilterCheck
®
Indicator (refer to Figure 2 for close-up of indicator) will
move from the OFF position and indicate your filter
condition. A brand new filter will register in the GOOD
section. After frequent use of your humidifier, the
FilterCheck
®
Indicator will let you know when the filter
needs to be changed.
When the needle is in the light CHANGE section, this means
the proper amount of moisture is
not getting into your air due to
the excessive minerals and
sediment that have become
trapped on your filter. At this
point, you should replace your
filter. It is important to change
your filter as indicated to obtain
stated performance level.
To replace the filter, follow
the steps below.
1. Push the 1Touch
®
(MODE/OFF) button for 2 seconds to
turn the unit OFF and disconnect from the electrical
outlet.
2. Remove the tank and main housing to access the base
tray (see Figures 1 and 3).
3. Discard the old filter and follow weekly cleaning
instructions.
4. Insert a new filter into the filter support in the base
(Figure 3).
5. Replace the main housing and then the tank.
6. Repeat Operating Instruction steps.
It will take about 30 minutes for the humidifier to reach
maximum output.

16. Este humidificador requiere mantenimiento diario y
semanal para funcionar correctamente. Refiérase a los

para medir la humedad.

20. NO intente reparar o ajustar ninguna función eléctrica
o mecánica de esta unidad. El hacerlo invalidará la
garantía. La unidad no contiene partes reparables por

22. No enchufe el cable con las manos húmedas. Puede
ocasionarle una descarga eléctrica.

tanque de agua.
24. Para prevenir el daño a las superficies, no coloque el
humidificador debajo de ninguna superficie que
sobresalga por encima del mismo.
25. NUNCA haga funcionar la unidad sin agua en el tanque.
26. Una vez utilizada la unidad, no la mueva hasta que se
haya enfriado completamente.
27. Use las dos manos cuando cargue el tanque de agua.

Instrucciones de Seguridad en la Instalación del
Cable y el Enchufe
La longitud del cable de este artefacto fue seleccionada para
reducir el riesgo de enredarse o tropezarse con un cable más
largo. Si necesita usar un cable más largo, puede utilizar un
cable de extensión aprobado. La capacidad eléctrica del cable
de extensión debe ser igual o mayor que la capacidad del
humidificador. No debe permitir que el cable de extensión
cuelgue de la mesada o mesa de tal forma que pueda ser
jalado por niños o causar que alguien se tropiece.
COMO FUNCIONA EL VAPOR FRÍO
Su humidificador Holmes
®
de Vapor Frío succiona aire seco a
través de la rejilla de entrada de aire. Luego, el aire pasa por
6 filtros de mecha cargados de humedad, los que retienen los
minerales y depósitos del agua. El aire húmedo resultante es
dirigido nuevamente al ambiente por la rejilla superior.
NOTA: Este sistema de humidificación proporciona una salida
de humedad fría e invisible. Es normal que no se vea el vapor.
NOTA: Un nivel de humedad menor al 20% puede ser
nocivo e incómodo. El nivel de humedad recomendado es
entre el 40% y el 50%.
INSTRUCCIONES PREVIAS AL USO
1. Seleccione un lugar para su humidificador, en una
superficie plana, aproximadamente a 4 pulgadas de
distancia de la pared. NO coloque el humidificador en
un piso acabado o cerca de muebles ya que pueden
dañarse a causa de la humedad o el agua. Coloque la
unidad en una superficie resistente a la humedad

el filtro de mecha esté colocado en su lugar.
Reemplace la cubierta del humidificador.
LLENADO DE LOS TANQUES DE AGUA
NOTA: este humidificador almacena aproximadamente 2,25
galones de agua en el tanque y base humidificadora. El
humidificador producirá hasta 4 galones de humedad por
un período aproximado de 24 horas, dependiendo de la
humedad y temperatura del cuarto.

del tomacorriente eléctrico.
2. Quite el tanque de la base levantándolo desde su
manija (Ver Figura 1)
3. Gire la tapa del tanque ubicada en la parte inferior del
tanque en sentido anti-horario y llene el tanque de
agua con agua pura y fría. No lo llene con agua tibia
ya que puede ocasionar filtraciones.
4. Luego de llenar el tanque, reemplace la tapa del
mismo girando firmemente en sentido horario y luego
reemplace el agua del tanque en la base. El tanque
comenzará inmediatamente a vaciarse en la base.
5. Enchufe el cable de corriente en un tomacorriente de
120 voltios AC.
INSTRUCCIONES DE USO
Su termostato está equipado con un Humidistato Digital
1Touch
®
de alta tecnología. Usted puede ajustar el
humidificador para que funcione constantemente en modo
manual o puede ajustar el Humidistato Digital 1Touch
®
al
nivel de humedad deseado. El Humidistato Digital 1Touch
®
encenderá y apagará automáticamente el humidificador,
dependiendo del nivel de humedad preseleccionado. El
nivel de humedad preseleccionado se encuentra entre el
35% y el 55% de humedad relativa.
INSTRUCCIONES DEL MODO MANUAL:
1. Enchufe el humidificador en un tomacorriente de 120V CA.
2. TPara encender la unidad, presione el botón de
MODE/OFF una vez para el modo HIGH (ALTO).(Ver
Figura 1)
3. Presione el botón nuevamente para ajustar el modo
manual LO (BAJO). (Ver Figura 1)
4. Para parar la unidad, presione y mantenga apretado
el botón MODE/OFF por dos segundos, o siga
presionando el botón hasta que los indicadores de la
humedad estén APAGADOS (OFF).
NOTA: Cuando esté en modo manual (Manual
MODE), sólo la luz de “LO” o “HI” estará encendida.
INSTRUCCIONES PARA EL USO DEL HUMIDISTATO

Para obtener un mejor rendimiento del humidistato
electrónico 1Touch
®
, presione el botón MODE/OFF hasta
que la velocidad sea establecida ya sea en el modo ALTO o
BAJO, y el nivel de humedad deseado fijado. Cuando el
nivel de humedad aumente por encima del nivel fijado, el
humidificador se apagará. Cuando el nivel de humedad
disminuya, el humidificador se encenderá automáticamente.
NOTA: Cuando se ajusta el modo del humidistato electrónico
1Touch
®
, la luz HI o LO y la luz que marca el porcentaje de
humedad permanecerán encendidas durante el
funcionamiento de la unidad. (Ver Figura 1.)
NOTA: Permita hasta 30 minutos para que el filtro absorba
totalmente el agua y para que la unidad emita humedad.
NOTA: El humidificador 1Touch
®
tiene una memoria. Esto
implica que cuando usted enciende nuevamente la unidad,
ésta mostrará el último modo fijado.
Si no tiene planeado usar el humidificador por dos o más
días, asegúrese de drenar toda agua residual que quede
en el tanque de agua, la base y el filtro de mecha; de este
modo, podrá prevenir el crecimiento de algas o bacterias.
PROLONGACIÓN DEL TIEMPO DE OPERACIÓN:
Programando el humidificador para un nivel de humedad,
en realidad se prolonga el tiempo de operación. La unidad
se apagará y encenderá automáticamente para mantener
ese nivel de humedad, consumiendo menos agua; por lo
que se le tendrá que rellenar de agua menos veces que en
la operación manual.
REEMPLAZO DE LOS FILTROS
A través del uso normal, los minerales y sedimentos del
agua quedan atrapados en el filtro de mecha. Cuanto más
dura sea su agua, más cantidad de minerales posee, y
necesitará cambiar el filtro más frecuentemente.
Usted podrá controlar el estado
del filtro de su humidificador
mediante el indicador FilterCheck
®
.
Cuando la unidad está apagada, el
indicador del FilterCheck
®
estará
en la posición OFF. Luego de que la
unidad haya estado funcionando
por 60 minutos, el indicador
FilterCheck
®
(para ver un primer
plano del indicador, refiérase a la Figura 2) se moverá de
la posición OFF e indicará la condición de su filtro. Un filtro
nuevo se indicará dentro del área (BUENO/ GOOD). Luego
de usar su humidificador varias veces, el indicador del
FilterCheck
®
le avisará cuando debe reemplazar el filtro .
Cuando la aguja esté en el área (CAMBIAR/ CHANGE),
significa que el aire no está recibiendo la cantidad
adecuada de humedad debido a la cantidad de minerales
y sedimento acumulados en su filtro. En ese momento,
debe reemplazar el filtro. Es muy importante reemplazar
el filtro como se indica para obtener los niveles de
rendimiento especificados.
Siga los pasos a continuación para cambiar el filtro.
1. Presione el botón 1Touch
®
(MODE/OFF) por 2
segundos para apagar la unidad y desenchúfela del
tomacorriente.
2. Quite el tanque y la cubierta principal para acceder a
la bandeja de la base (Ver Figuras 1 y 3)
3. Deseche el filtro viejo y siga las instrucciones de
limpieza semanales
4. Inserte un nuevo filtro en el soporte del filtro ubicado
en la base (Figura 3)
5. Reemplace la cubierta principal y luego el tanque
6. Repita los pasos detallados en la sección: instrucciones
de funcionamiento

INSTRUCCIONES DE LIMPIEZA Y MANTENIMIENTO
Los humidificadores brindan confort, añadiendo humedad
en los ambientes secos. Para obtener un mayor beneficio
del humidificador y evitar que el producto se malogre, siga
todas las instrucciones de mantenimiento cuidadosamente.
Si no sigue las pautas de cuidado y mantenimiento
recomendadas, los microorganismos pueden crecer in el
agua dentro del humidificador.
MANTENIMIENTO DIARIO
1. Antes de limpiar, asegúrese de que el humidificador
esté APAGADO (OFF) y desenchúfelo del tomacorriente.
2. Levante el tanque y la cubierta del humidificador.
Quite el filtro y colóquelo en el lavamanos o bañera ya
que el mismo liberará agua cuando no esté ubicado en
el humidificador.
3. Lleve la base y el tanque al lavamanos, luego drene y
enjuague bien la base y el tanque para quitar
cualquier sedimento o suciedad. Seque las partes con
un trapo suave o toallita de papel. (NO use utensilios
de limpieza de metal o limpiadores abrasivos)
4. Coloque nuevamente el filtro en los soportes del filtro,
reemplace la cubierta, luego llene nuevamente el
tanque con agua fría de la canilla, según se detalla en
las instrucciones de llenado del tanque.
MANTENIMIENTO SEMANAL
Para quitar la escama:
1. Repita los pasos 1,2 y 3 detallados anteriormente
2. Limpie la base llenándola parcialmente con vinagre
blanco no diluido (una taza de 8oz.), o utilizando
Cleanse Clean
®
de Holmes. Deje que la solución
repose por unos 20 minutos, limpie todas las
superficies interiores con un cepillo de cerda suave.
3. Humedezca un paño en vinagre blanco no diluido y
páselo por toda la base para quitar toda la escama.
4. Enjuague con agua tibia para quitar la escama y la
solución de vinagre blanca antes de comenzar a
desinfectar el tanque.
Para desinfectar la base y el tanque del
humidificador:
1. Llene el tanque con 1/2 cucharadita de blanqueador
clorado y 1/2 galón de agua.
2. Deje reposar las partes en la solución durante 20
minutos, removiéndolas de vez en cuando. Humedezca
todas las superficies.
3. Vacíe el tanque después de 20 minutos, y enjuague
bien con agua hasta que el olor del blanqueador haya
desaparecido. Seque con un paño limpio o toallita de papel.
4. Llene nuevamente el tanque de agua con agua fría;
reemplace la cubierta y el tanque de agua. Repita
TODAS las instrucciones de funcionamiento.
NO intente abrir o reparar el humidificador . Por
favor, vea la garantía para las instrucciones de
reparación o llame al servicio del consumidor al
1-800-5-HOLMES.
