OPERATION

Built in Electrical Safety

For your safety and protection this appliance is manufactured with a grounded

plug on its power cord. The power cord must be plugged into a properly ground-

ed receptacle. If a grounded receptacle does not exist, have one installed by a

certified electrician. Do not cut or remove the grounding prong on the power

cord plug if equipped. We recommend that this electrical circuit/ receptacle

operate under a separate breaker or fuse.

Recommended Limits of Use

Temperatures: 0 to 35ºC (32º to 95ºF).

Relative humidity: 20 to 80%.

Location of Unit

Minimum 25cm (10") distance from walls. Close all doors and windows.

Initial Start-up

Check the rating plate for the appropriate power supply needed by your unit.

Connect the dehumidifier. Ensure that one of the water collection options is work-

ing and active. Depress the ON switch.

(A) ON/OFF Switch

Depress the switch to start or stop the dehumidifier. "O" for power off, "I" for

power on.

(B) Hour Counter

The counter will accumulate and display the total running hours of the unit in

1/100 of an hour. It can not be reset to zero. No user input is required.

Depressing this button activates the condensate pump. This can be used to

empty the pump reservoir. The button must be held depressed until drain line

is clear of water, this is when pump reservoir is empty. The dehumidifier must

be switched "ON".

NOTE: Depress the switch long enough to perform the function. Prolonged

depression of the switches could harm the equipment.

(D) Hot Gas On Demand: (Red button - some models)

Depressing this button activates the hot gas defrost system. This can be used

to clear the evaporator coil of frost if required. The button must be held

depressed until the evaporator coil is cleared of frost. The dehumidifier must

be switched "ON".

NOTE: Depress the switch long enough to perform the function. Prolonged

depression of the switches could harm the equipment.

Automatic Defrost Cycle

All units are equipped with an automatically activated (thermostat controlled)

Defrost cycle to automatically defrost the evaporator coils.

Cleaning

DANGER: Electrical shock hazard. Disconnect power before cleaning.

Exterior Parts

Use a mild, non-abrasive soap and clean water solution to clean the metal cab-

inet, handles and wheels. Wipe dry.

Air Filter

Remove filter. Wash in a mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water. Air dry

before reinstalling. Torn or ripped filters should be replaced with a new filter.

Fan Motor

Does not require lubrication.

Condenser and Evaporator Coils

1. Light cleaning: Remove the air filter and

spray evaporator coil with water.

2. Heavy cleaning: Open upper door. Remove

plastic cleanout by pushing the two locking

tabs and lifting. Spray water at coils. Replace

the cleanout.

A qualified refrigeration technician must service all refrigerant leaks.

Important - If power to the unit is disconnected or unit is turned off, allow 3 minutes

before restarting the dehumidifier. This allows the internal pressures to equalize.

Storage:

Single unit: It is best to cover the unit if extended storage periods are contem-

plated. Remove all water in collection system.

Stacking Two Units: This dehumidifier can be stacked two high.

An assembled unit weighs 39 kgs (86 lbs). Position on a level surface.

HOW A DEHUMIDIFIER WORKS

The dehumidifier removes moisture from the air by passing the moist air over a

cold dehumidifying coil. The moisture condenses out of the air on this coil and then

drains from the coil into a bucket.

A dehumidifier reduces the relative humidity of the surrounding air two ways. The

removal of moisture from the air (as just described) reduces its humidity. The

relative humidity of the air is further reduced by heating as the dry air is discharged

over the condenser and out the front. The air is actually heated several degrees in

this process. It is normal for the surrounding air to slightly increase in temperature

as the dehumidifier operates.

electrical supply?

• Is there a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker? (Check the

outlet with another appliance).

• Is the Power Switch pushed to the "I" position?

• Is the water container (if used) full and requires emptying?

• Is the water level plastic float freely hanging inside bucket (if

bucket is used), or hangs freely in air (if no bucket)?

Condition - Moisture Removal Seems Insufficient

• Are the dehumidifier's vents and air filter clear of obstructions

and dirt?

• Does the location selected present sufficient airflow around

the unit?

Install one short tube. Install one handle

Slide wheel axle into wheels brackets.

Position unit on back. Remove 4 shipping

screws and discard.

Position unit with air filter up.

Install one long tube, plastic bushing

faces inward. Insert one handle screw.

Do not tighten.

Insert bent tube into long tube. Rotate

long tube to align with cabinet hole and

insert one handle screw. Do not tighten.

Insert hand axle. Insert second long tube.

Insert two handle screws. Tighten all han-

dle screws.

Position unit upright. Wait 30 minutes

before starting to allow compressor to

drain back.

WARNING: Personal injury

hazard. Do not place fingers in

ring area. Ring is spring

loaded and closes with force.

ASSEMBLY

Position unit on back. Remove 4

shipping screws and discard.

Position unit with air filter up.

Install one short tube on wheel axle.

Insert bent tube into long tube. Rotate

long tube to align with cabinet hole and

insert one handle screw. Do not tighten.

Install one short tube. Install one

handle screw and tighten.

Insert two handle screws. Tighten all

handle screws.

Install washer and lynch pin to each

wheel axle end.

Slide wheel axle into wheels brackets.

Offset to one side.

Install one long tube, plastic bushing

faces inward. Insert one handle screw.

Do not tighten.

Install bent handle on short tube.

Install one handle screw and tighten.

Insert hand axle. Insert second long tube.

Install two wheels on wheel axle.

Position unit upright.

Wait 30 minutes before starting to

allow compressor to drain back.

WARNING:

Personal injury hazard.

Do not place fingers in ring area. Ring

is spring loaded and closes with force.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The Unit is NOT working:

• Why do you believe the dehumidifier is not working?

• Is the power ON?

• Has the breaker tripped? – Reset breaker

• If in a wet area, is the unit plugged into a GFI protected cir-

cuit? – Excessive moisture will trip GFI. Remove from area.

• Is the unit being run off a generator? - Check output does

not fluctuate as the unit will not operate at low voltage.

• If using an extension cord - Is the cord of the correct

gauge for the distance run? (14 AWG up to 25’ and 12

AWG over 25’). Note: Verify voltage while unit is starting.

Start up will cause the highest current draw and largest

voltage drop. Even if plugged directly to outlet there can

be a significant voltage drop. Never assume the voltage is

ok without verifying.

• Is the unit draining? – Check the condensate receptacle.

If full, the float is up and the unit will not operate – drain

receptacle.

The unit continually ices up: Note that some ice buildup on the

evaporator coils is normal but airflow should not be blocked.

• Is the fan working? – Fan not working, check run capacitor

and fan unit.

• Is warm air blowing out the front of the unit? - No warm

air, temperature may be too low. Raise temperature with

supplementary source.

• Is the air filter clean and airflow unobstructed? – Clean

filter. Unit should have a minimum of 10” clearance all

around it.

• Dirty evaporator coils? – Clean coils.

• Defrost thermostat loose or not working? – Secure or

replace.

• Defrost timer set incorrectly or defective? – Reset or

replace.

• Temperature in the operating space is too low? - Raise

temperature with supplementary source.

Unit moves some water but not as much as expected:

• Air temperature and Relative Humidity have dropped - Check

levels with calibrated humidity meter and/or thermostat.

• Unit is in defrost cycle – Unit will start after cycle.

• Air filter dirty or airflow obstructed - Unit should have a

minimum of 10” clearance all around it. Clean air filter and

ensure adequate airflow/space around unit.

• Evaporator coils dirty – Clean coils.

• Restrictive or kinked exhaust ducting (if used) – Straighten

out ducting.

• Defrost timer set incorrectly for conditions – Reset timer.

• Defrost thermostat defective - Replace

• Refrigerant charge is low – Have unit checked by qualified

technician

• Defective compressor – Replace compressor by qualified

technician as it requires recycling of refrigerant.

Unit runs continuously for days:

• Unit is working removing water - High Relative Humidity

in space.

• Humidity or water is getting into the space – Find source

and stop it.

• Unit is undersized for space – Use larger unit or mul-

tiple units.

• Poor air movement in space – Use air movers to

increase movement.

Unit runs but does not pump water:

• Drain hose kinked or blocked – Straighten or unblock hose.

• Pump float stuck closed – Reset or replace.

• Pump not working – Check electrical operation with out-

side supply.

• Hose disconnected internally – Reconnect hose.

• Compressor capacitor bad – Check capacitor.

Fan runs but Compressor does not:

• Condensate pump not working – Check pump and float.

• Bad connection in pump circuit – Check connections.

• Bad compressor capacitor – Check capacitor.

• Defective compressor – Replace compressor by quali-

fied technician.

• Defective time delay or Thermistor – Check and/or replace.

Fan does not run. Compressor runs briefly but cycles on/off:

• Defective fan capacitor – Check capacitor.

• Loose connection in fan circuit – Check connections.

• Fan obstructed and not turning – Remove obstruction.

• Defective fan – Replace fan.

WARRANTY - ONE YEAR

This product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship

for a period of one year from the date of purchase by the original pur-

chaser. During this period, all parts and labor will be provided at no

cost. Consumable parts (ie: light bulbs and filters) are not warranted

or guaranteed for any length of time. This warranty is non transferable.

ADDITIONAL SIX YEAR WARRANTY

For a period of six years following the ONE YEAR WARRANTY compo-

nents of the sealed system are warranted against defects in material.

Parts will be supplied (freight prepaid) free of charge. Installation labor

is not covered. This warranty is non transferable.

NOTICE

1. This warranty applies only to the original purchaser and applies

only within the boundaries of CANADA and CONTINENTAL USA.

2. This is the only warranty of the dealer and Fantech Limited. for

the above mentioned product and no other warranty or condition,

expressed or implied shall apply, except where specifically

excluded by law.

3. The original purchaser should complete this warranty form and

retain it in the event warranty service is required.

4. Proof of purchase date will be required for warranty claims.

Please retain bills of sale for proof.

5. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental

or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion

may not apply to you. This warranty gives specific legal rights, and

the purchaser may have other rights which vary from state to

state. For more information regarding legal rights the purchaser

may contact the local or state consumer affairs office or the

appropriate state Attorney General.

LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY

GENERAL PROVISIONS

No warranty or insurance herein contained or set out shall apply when

damage or repair is caused by any of the following:

1. Power failure.

2. Damage in transit or when moving the appliance.

3. Improper power supply such as low voltage, defective house wir-

ing or inadequate fuses.

4. Accident, alteration, abuse or misuse of the appliance such as

inadequate air circulation in the room or abnormal operating

conditions, (extremely high or low room temperatures).

5. Fire, water, damage, theft, war, riot, hostility, acts of God such as

hurricanes, floods, etc.

Pour votre sécurité et votre protection, cet appareil comporte une fiche de terre.

L'appareil doit etre branché dans une prise mise a la terre, installé selon les

normes de sûreté régionaux. S'il n'existe pas de prise mise à la terre, faites-en

installer une par un électricien agréé. Ne coupez pas et n'enlevez pas la broche

de mise à la terre sur la fiche du cordon d'alimentation. Nous recommandons

(A) Interrupteur MARCHE / ARRÊT

Appuyez sur l'interrupteur pour mettre en marche ou arrêter le déshumidifica-

teur. « O » pour l'arrêt et « I » pour la mise en marche.

(B) Compteur d'heures

Le compteur accumulera et affichera le nombre total d'heures de fonc-

tionnement de l'appareil en 1/100 par heure. Il ne peut pas être remis à zéro.

Aucune donnée de l'utilisateur est requise.

en appuyant sur ce bouton, on active la pompe à condensats. Ceci peut servir

à vider le réservoir de la pompe. Le bouton doit être maintenu enfoncé jusqu'à

ce que la tuyauterie de vidange soit vide d'eau. C'est alors que le réservoir de

la pompe est vide. Le déshumidificateur doit être en position « ON».

NOTE: Maintenir le bouton enfoncé juste assez longtemps pour effectuer la fonction.

Un enfoncement prolongé des boutons pourrait endommager 'équipement.

(D) Gaz chaud à la demande:

(bouton rouge-optionnel) en appuyant sur ce bouton, on active le système de

dégivrage à gaz chaud. Ceci peut servir à débarrasser le serpentin 'évapora-

teur du givre au besoin. Le bouton doit être maintenu enfoncé jusqu'à ce que le

serpentin d'évaporateur soit débarrassé du givre. Le déshumidificateur doit

être en position « ON ».

NOTE: Maintenir le bouton enfoncé juste assez longtemps pour effectuer la

fonction. Un enfoncement prolongé des boutons pourrait endommager

l'équipement.

Cycle de dégivrage automatique

Tous les appareils sont équipés d'un cycle de dégivrage à déclenchement

automatique (contrôlé par thermostat) afin de dégivrer automatiquement les

serpentins de l'évaporateur.

Nettoyage

DANGER: Risque de choc électrique. Débranchez avant de nettoyer.

Parties extérieures

Utilisez une solution de savon doux, non abrasif et d'eau propre pour nettoyer

les parties du caisson en métal peint, les poignées et les roues. Essuyez-les.

Filtre à air

Enlevez le filtre. Lavez-le avec du savon doux et de l'eau tiède. Rincez avec de

l'eau propre. Laissez-le sécher à l'air libre avant de le réinstaller. Les filtres

déchirés ou endommagés doivent être remplacés par un nouveau filtre.

Moteur du ventilateur

N'a pas besoin de lubrification.

Serpentins du condensateur et de l'évaporateur

1. Nettoyage léger: Enlevez le filtre à air et

vaporisez de l'eau sur le serpentin de

l'évaporateur.

2. Nettoyage important: Ouvrez la porte

supérieure. Enlevez la porte de nettoyage en

plastique en poussant sur les deux pattes de

verrouillage et en la soulevant. Vaporisez de

l'eau sur les serpentins. Remettez la porte de

nettoyage en place.

Un technicien en réfrigération qualifié doit assurer l'entretien de toutes les fuites

de frigorigène.

Important - Si l'appareil a été debranché ou mis hors tension, attendez trois minutes

avant de remettre le déshumidificateur en marche. Cela permet aux pressions

internes de s'égaliser.

Entreposage:

Un seul appareil: Il est préférable de couvrir l'appareil si vous prévoyez de

l'entreposer pendant une période de temps prolongée. Enlevez toute l'eau dans

le système de collecte.

Empilage de deux appareils: Deux déshumidificateurs peuvent être empilés en

hauteur. Un appareil assemblé pèse 39 kg (86 lbs).

MISE EN GARDE: Risque de blessures. Utilisez deux personnes

COMMENT FONCTIONNE UN DÉSHUMIDIFICATEUR

Le déshumidificateur élimine l'humidité de l'air en faisant circuler l'air humide sur

un serpentin froid asséchant. L'humidité se condense sur le serpentin et s'égoutte

ensuite du serpentin dans un réservoir.

Le déshumidificateur réduit l'humidité relative de l'air ambiant de deux manières.

L'élimination de la vapeur dans l'air (comme nous venons de la décrire) réduit son

humidité. L'humidité relative atmosphérique est également réduite en chauffant

l'air chaud rejeté du condenseur vers l'avant de l'appareil. En fait, l'air est chauffé

DÉPANNAGE

L’unité ne fonctionne pas:

• Pourquoi pensez-vous que le déshumidificateur ne fonctionne pas?

• Est-ce que l’appareil est sous tension?

• Est-ce que le disjoncteur s’est déclenché? – Réinitialiser

le disjoncteur.

• Si l’appareil est dans un endroit humide, est-ce qu’il est

branché dans un disjoncteur de fuite de terre (DFT)?–

L’humidité excessive peut déclencher le DFT. Enlever l’appareil

de cet endroit.

• Est-ce que l’appareil est branché à une génératrice? –

Vérifiez que la sortie ne varie pas, car l’appareil ne peut pas

opérer à basse tension.

• Si vous utilisez une rallonge – Est-ce que la rallonge est du

bon calibre pour la distance nécessaire? (14 AWG jusqu’à

25pi et 12 AWG au-delà de 25pi). Note: Vérifiez la tension

pendant le démarrage de l’appareil. Le démarrage nécessi-

tera un plus grand courant et donc la plus grande baisse de

tension. Même si l’appareil est branché directement à une

prise de courant, il peut y avoir une baisse de tension sig-

nificative. Ne jamais assumer que la tension est correcte

sans vérifier.

• Est-ce que le drainage se produit? – Vérifiez le réceptacle de

condensat. S’il est plein, le flotteur est en haut et l’appareil

ne fonctionnera pas – videz le réceptacle.

L’appareil devient glacée constamment: Notez qu’un peu de glace sur

l’évaporateur est normal, mais le passage d’air ne devrait jamais être bloqué.

• Est-ce que le ventilateur fonctionne? – Si le ventilateur ne

fonctionne pas, vérifiez le condensateur du moteur ainsi que

l’appareil du ventilateur.

• Est-ce que l’air chaud sort du devant de l’appareil? - S’il n’y a

pas d’air chaud, la température ambiante est peut-être trop

basse. Augmentez la température ambiante avec une source

externe supplémentaire.

• Est-ce que le filtre à air est propre et le passage d’air

dégagé?– Nettoyez le filtre. L’appareil devrait avoir un espace

minimum vide de 10po tout autour.

• Est-ce que l’évaporateur est sale? – Nettoyez l’évaporateur.

• Est-ce que le thermostat de dégivrage est lâche ou ne fonc-

tionne pas? – Fixez le thermostat ou remplacez-le.

• Est-ce que le thermostat de dégivrage est réglé incorrectement

ou défectueuse? – Réinitialisez le thermostat ou remplacez-le.

• Est-ce que la température ambiante est trop basse? –

Augmentez la température avec une source supplémentaire.

L’appareil accumule de l’eau, mais moins que prévu:

• La température de l’air et l’humidité relative ont baissés –

Vérifiez la température et l’humidité relative avec un

hygromètre calibré et/ou un thermostat.

• L’appareil est en cycle de dégivrage – L’appareil recom-

mencera après le cycle.

• Filtre à air est sale ou le passage d’air est obstrué –

L’appareil devrait avoir un espace minimum vide de 10po tout

autour. Nettoyez le filtre à air et assurez un passage d’air

adéquat/espace vide autour de l’appareil.

• Est-ce que l’évaporateur est sale? – Nettoyez l’évaporateur.

• Conduits d’échappement restrictives ou déformés (si utili-

sés) – Redressez les conduits.

• Minuterie de dégivrage est réglée incorrectement –

Réinitialisez la minuterie.

• Minuterie de dégivrage est défectueuse – Remplacez la minuterie.

• La charge de réfrigérant est faible – Faites vérifiez l’appareil

par un technicien qualifié.

• Compresseur est défectueux – Faites remplacer le compres-

seur par un technicien qualifié car cela nécessite le recyclage

des réfrigérants.

L’appareil est en marche continuellement pendant plusieurs jours:

• L’appareil accumule beaucoup d’eau – L’humidité relative

dans l’espace est élevée.

• L’humidité ou l’eau entre dans l’espace – Trouvez la

source et arrêtez-la.

• L’appareil est trop petite pour l’espace – Utilisez un plus

grand appareil ou plusieurs appareils.

• Mauvaise circulation d’air dans l’espace – Utilisez un appareil

pour augmenter la circulation de l’air.

L’appareil fonctionne mais ne pompe pas d’eau:

• Tuyau de vidange plié ou bloqué – Redressez ou déblo-

quez le tuyau.

• Flotteur bloqué en position fermée – Réinitialisez ou

remplacez le flotteur.

• Pompe ne fonctionne pas – Vérifiez le fonctionnement

électrique de la source externe.

• Tuyau débranché à l’interne – Rebranchez le tuyau.

• Condensateur du compresseur défectueux – Vérifiez le

condensateur.

Le ventilateur fonctionne, mais non le compresseur:

• Pompe de condensats ne fonctionne pas – Vérifiez la pompe

et le flotteur.

• Mauvaise connexion dans le circuit électrique de la pompe

– Vérifiez les connexions.

• Condensateur du compresseur défectueux – Vérifiez le

condensateur.

• Compresseur défectueux – Faites remplacer le compresseur

par un technicien qualifié.

• Minuterie de délai ou thermistance défectueuse – Vérifiez et/

ou remplacez.

Le ventilateur ne fonctionne pas. Compresseur fonctionne briève-

ment mais en cycles (marche/arrêt):

• Condensateur du ventilateur est défectueux – Vérifiez le

condensateur.

• Mauvaise connexion dans le circuit du ventilateur – Vérifiez

les connexions.

• Ventilateur est obstrué et ne tourne pas – Enlevez l’obstruction.

• Ventilateur est défectueux – Remplacez le ventilateur.

Installez le tube long. prenez note: la bague

en plastique fait face au caisson. Insérez une

vis de poignée, mais ne la serrez pas.

Installez la poignée courbée sur le tube court.

Installez une vis de poignée et serrez-la.

Insérez l'axe de la poignée. Insérez le

deuxième tube long.

Installez les deux roues sur l'axe des

roues.

Mettez l'appareil debout.

Attendez 30 minutes avant de mettre en marche

afin de drainer l'huile du compresseur.

Protección eléctrica incorporada

Para proporcionarle mayor seguridad y protección esta unidad está equipada con

una toma de tierra en el cable de alimentación. El cable debe enchufarse en un

receptáculo con toma de tierra apropiada. Si no dispone de receptáculo con

toma de tierra, pida a un electricista autorizado que se lo instale. No corte o

elimine la patilla de toma de tierra de la clavija si así se suministra. Le recomen-

Colocación del aparato

Primeros pasos

la unidad en 1/100 de hora. No puede reiniciarse. No es necesaria ninguna

intervención por parte del usuario.

(Botón verde-opcional) Si se aprieta este botón se activa la bomba de conden-

sación. Puede seguir este procedimiento para vaciar la reserva de la bomba.

Debe mantenerse el botón apretado hasta que no se muestre agua en la línea

de drenaje. Esto indica que la reserva de la bomba se ha vaciado. El deshumid-

ificador debe estar encendido (ON).

NOTA: Mantenga apretado sólo el botón suficiente tiempo para completar la

operación de vaciado. Si mantiene apretados los botones más tiempo del nece-

sario podría dañar el equipo.

(D) Sistema de aire caliente:

(Botón rojo-opcional). Si aprieta este botón activará el sistema de descongel-

ación por aire caliente. Puede utilizarlo para eliminar la escarcha del serpentín

evaporador cuando sea necesario. Mantenga el botón apretado hasta que el

serpentín evaporador no tenga escarcha. El deshumidificador debe estar

encendido (ON).

NOTA: Mantenga apretado sólo el botón suficiente tiempo para completar la

operación de eliminación de escarcha. Si mantiene apretados los botones más

tiempo del necesario podría dañar el equipo.

Ciclo automático de descongelación

Todas las unidades se suministran con un ciclo de descongelación automático (contro-

lado por termostato) que descongela automáticamente las espirales del evaporador.

Limpieza

PELIGRO DE DESCARGA ELÉCTRICA. Desconecte el aparato de la corriente antes de

Partes externas

Utilice un jabón suave y no abrasivo en solución de agua clara para la limpieza

CÓMO FUNCIONA UN DESHUMIDIFICADOR

Para eliminar la humedad del aire, el deshumidificador la hace pasar por una espiral

How a Dehumidifier Works

The dehumidifier removes moisture from the air by passing the

moist air over a cold dehumidifying coil. The moisture con-

A dehumidifier reduces the relative humidity of the surrounding

described) reduces its humidity. The relative humidity of the air

is further reduced by heating as the dry air is discharged over

the condenser and out the front. The air is actually heated

DEHUMIDIFIER DÉSHUMIDIFICATEUR DESHUMIDIFICADOR Owner’s Manual IMPORTANT – P LEASE READ THIS MANUAL BEFORE INSTALLING UNIT Models / Modèles / Modelos GDC124CSS GDC124CS GDC80CS Operating Instructions 2 Guide d'utilisation 6 Instrucciones de uso 10 OPERATION AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL OPERATION Built in Electrical Safety For your safety and protection this appliance is manufactured with a grounded plug on its power cord. The power cord must be plugged into a properly grounded receptacle. If a grounded receptacle does not exist, have one installed by a certified electrician. Do not cut or remove the grounding prong on the power cord plug if equipped. We recommend that this electrical circuit/ receptacle operate under a separate breaker or fuse. Recommended Limits of Use (C) Pump Purge: (Green button - some models) Depressing this button activates the condensate pump. This can be used to empty the pump reservoir. The button must be held depressed until drain line is clear of water, this is when pump reservoir is empty. The dehumidifier must be switched "ON". NOTE: Depress the switch long enough to perform the function. Prolonged depression of the switches could harm the equipment. (D) Hot Gas On Demand: (Red button - some models) Depressing this button activates the hot gas defrost system. This can be used to clear the evaporator coil of frost if required. The button must be held depressed until the evaporator coil is cleared of frost. The dehumidifier must be switched "ON". Temperatures: 0 to 35ºC (32º to 95ºF). Relative humidity: 20 to 80%. Location of Unit Minimum 25cm (10") distance from walls. Close all doors and windows. NOTE: Depress the switch long enough to perform the function. Prolonged depression of the switches could harm the equipment. Automatic Defrost Cycle All units are equipped with an automatically activated (thermostat controlled) Defrost cycle to automatically defrost the evaporator coils. Cleaning DANGER: Electrical shock hazard. Disconnect power before cleaning. 25cm (10") Exterior Parts Use a mild, non-abrasive soap and clean water solution to clean the metal cabinet, handles and wheels. Wipe dry. 25cm (10") Air Filter Remove filter. Wash in a mild soap and water. Rinse with clean water. Air dry before reinstalling. Torn or ripped filters should be replaced with a new filter. Initial Start-up Check the rating plate for the appropriate power supply needed by your unit. Connect the dehumidifier. Ensure that one of the water collection options is working and active. Depress the ON switch. Fan Motor Does not require lubrication. Condenser and Evaporator Coils Control Panel Settings 1. Light cleaning: Remove the air filter and spray evaporator coil with water. 1 2 C D A 2. Heavy cleaning: Open upper door. Remove plastic cleanout by pushing the two locking tabs and lifting. Spray water at coils. Replace the cleanout. B A qualified refrigeration technician must service all refrigerant leaks. Important - If power to the unit is disconnected or unit is turned off, allow 3 minutes before restarting the dehumidifier. This allows the internal pressures to equalize. (A) ON/OFF Switch Depress the switch to start or stop the dehumidifier. "O" for power off, "I" for power on. Storage: (B) Hour Counter The counter will accumulate and display the total running hours of the unit in 1/100 of an hour. It can not be reset to zero. No user input is required. Stacking Two Units: This dehumidifier can be stacked two high. Single unit: It is best to cover the unit if extended storage periods are contemplated. Remove all water in collection system. Do 4 TROUBLESHOOTING The Unit is NOT working: • Why do you believe the dehumidifier is not working? • Is the power ON? • Has the breaker tripped? – Reset breaker • If in a wet area, is the unit plugged into a GFI protected circuit? – Excessive moisture will trip GFI. Remove from area. • Is the unit being run off a generator? - Check output does not fluctuate as the unit will not operate at low voltage. • If using an extension cord - Is the cord of the correct gauge for the distance run? (14 AWG up to 25’ and 12 AWG over 25’). Note: Verify voltage while unit is starting. Start up will cause the highest current draw and largest voltage drop. Even if plugged directly to outlet there can be a significant voltage drop. Never assume the voltage is ok without verifying. • Is the unit draining? – Check the condensate receptacle. If full, the float is up and the unit will not operate – drain receptacle. The unit continually ices up: Note that some ice buildup on the evaporator coils is normal but airflow should not be blocked. • Is the fan working? – Fan not working, check run capacitor and fan unit. • Is warm air blowing out the front of the unit? - No warm air, temperature may be too low. Raise temperature with supplementary source. • Is the air filter clean and airflow unobstructed? – Clean filter. Unit should have a minimum of 10” clearance all around it. • Dirty evaporator coils? – Clean coils. • Defrost thermostat loose or not working? – Secure or replace. • Defrost timer set incorrectly or defective? – Reset or replace. • Temperature in the operating space is too low? - Raise temperature with supplementary source. Unit runs continuously for days: • Unit is working removing water - High Relative Humidity in space. • Humidity or water is getting into the space – Find source and stop it. • Unit is undersized for space – Use larger unit or multiple units. • Poor air movement in space – Use air movers to increase movement. Unit runs but does not pump water: • Drain hose kinked or blocked – Straighten or unblock hose. • Pump float stuck closed – Reset or replace. • Pump not working – Check electrical operation with outside supply. • Hose disconnected internally – Reconnect hose. • Compressor capacitor bad – Check capacitor. Fan runs but Compressor does not: • Condensate pump not working – Check pump and float. • Bad connection in pump circuit – Check connections. • Bad compressor capacitor – Check capacitor. • Defective compressor – Replace compressor by qualified technician. • Defective time delay or Thermistor – Check and/or replace. Fan does not run. Compressor runs briefly but cycles on/off: • Defective fan capacitor – Check capacitor. • Loose connection in fan circuit – Check connections. • Fan obstructed and not turning – Remove obstruction. • Defective fan – Replace fan. Unit moves some water but not as much as expected: • Air temperature and Relative Humidity have dropped - Check levels with calibrated humidity meter and/or thermostat. • Unit is in defrost cycle – Unit will start after cycle. • Air filter dirty or airflow obstructed - Unit should have a minimum of 10” clearance all around it. Clean air filter and ensure adequate airflow/space around unit. • Evaporator coils dirty – Clean coils. • Restrictive or kinked exhaust ducting (if used) – Straighten out ducting. • Defrost timer set incorrectly for conditions – Reset timer. • Defrost thermostat defective - Replace • Refrigerant charge is low – Have unit checked by qualified technician • Defective compressor – Replace compressor by qualified technician as it requires recycling of refrigerant. 5 LIMITED PRODUCT WARRANTY Industrial Dehumidifier WARRANTY - ONE YEAR This product is warranted against defects in material and workmanship for a period of one year from the date of purchase by the original purchaser. During this period, all parts and labor will be provided at no cost. Consumable parts (ie: light bulbs and filters) are not warranted or guaranteed for any length of time. This warranty is non transferable. GENERAL PROVISIONS No warranty or insurance herein contained or set out shall apply when damage or repair is caused by any of the following: 1. Power failure. 2. Damage in transit or when moving the appliance. 3. Improper power supply such as low voltage, defective house wiring or inadequate fuses. 4.
