Replace any damaged label. • • • USING THE TOOL • • • • Always wear eye protection when operating or performing maintenance on this tool. Power tools can vibrate in use. Vibration, repetitive motions, or uncomfortable positions may be harmful to your hands and arms. Stop using any tool if discomfort, tingling feeling or pain occurs. Seek medical advice before resuming use. Guard Against Electric Shock. Prevent body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces. For example; pipes, radiators, ranges, refrigerator enclosures. Don’t Abuse Cord. Never carry tool by cord or yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heat, oil, and sharp edges. • • • • invite injuries. Consider work area environment. When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry, high or locked up place, out of reach of children. Don’t force tool. It will do the job better and more safely at the rate for which it was intended. Use the right tool. Do not force a small tool or attachment to do the job of a heavy–duty tool. Do not use a tool for a purpose for which it is not intended. Example: Do not use a screwdriver as a drill. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. They can be caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non–skid footwear are recommended when working outdoors. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. The use of other than genuine Ingersoll–Rand replacement parts may result in personal injury, decreased tool performance and increased maintenance, and may invalidate all warranties. Have your tool repaired by a qualified person. This electric tool is in accordance with the relevant safety requirements. Repairs should only be carried out by qualified persons using original spare parts, otherwise this may result in considerable danger to the user. FAILURE TO OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS COULD RESULT IN INJURY. USING THE TOOL (Continued) • • • • • • • • • Secure work. Use clamps or a vise to hold work. Operators often need both hands to perform job functions. Don’t overreach. Keep proper footing, balance, and a firm grip on the tool at all times. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and if damaged, have them repaired by an authorized service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches are removed from tool before turning it on. Avoid unintentional starting. Don’t carry tool with finger on switch. Do not drop or abuse the tool. Whenever a tool is not being used, position the Power Switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the power cord. Stay alert. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate tool when you are tired. Check damaged parts. Before further use of the tool, a guard or other part that is damaged should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by • • • • • • • • an authorized service center unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this operation manual. Have defective switches replaced by an authorized service center. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Do not drop or abuse the screwdriver. Whenever changing a bit, make certain the Forward/Reverse Switch is in the “OFF” position and the tool is unplugged. Do not allow chemicals such as acetone, benzene, thinner, ketone, trichloroethylene or other similar chemicals to come in contact with the screwdriver housing as damage will result. Do not operate the Forward/Reverse Switch when the motor is running. Whenever a tool is not being used, move the Forward/Reverse Switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the screwdriver. The use of any accessory or attachment other than recommended in this manual can present a risk of personal injury. OPERATION • • Do not drop or abuse the Controller. Whenever a Controller is not being used, position the Power Switch to the “OFF” position and unplug the power cord. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS TOOL. All repairs and maintenance of the Controller and its cord must be performed by an authorized servicenter. Contact sales office listed on last page of this form. WARNING INDOOR USE ONLY. 2 GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS The Controller should be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electric shock. The controller is equipped with a three–conductor cord and three–prong grounding–type plug to fit the proper grounding–type receptacle. The green (or green and yellow) conductor in the cord is the grounding wire. Never connect the green (or green and yellow)wire to a live terminal. If your unit is for use on less than 150V, it has a plug that looks like that shown in Figure A. An adapter (see Figure B) is available for connecting Figure A–type plugs to 2–prong receptacles. The green colored rigid grounding strap extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as to a properly grounded outlet box. If there is any doubt, have a qualified electrician check connections. Extension Cords Use only 3–wire extension cords that have 3–prong grounding–type plugs and 3 pole receptacles that accept the controller’s plug. MISE EN SERVICE DE L’OUTIL • • • Exploiter, inspecter et entretenir toujours cet outil conformément aux réglementations (locales, départementales, fédérales et nationales) en vigueur pour les outils électriques tenus/commandés à la main. Inspecter périodiquement les cordons d’alimentation, et, en cas d’endommagement, les faire réparer par un centre d’entretien autorisé. Inspecter périodiquement les rallonges et les remplacer en cas d’endommagement. Ne retirer aucune étiquette. Remplacer toute étiquette endommagée. • • • • UTILISATION DE L’OUTIL • • • • Porter toujours des lunettes de protection pendant l’utilisation et l’entretien de cet outil. Ne jamais exposer les outils électriques ou les chargeurs à l’eau. Assurer un éclairage adéquat de la zone de travail. Ne jamais utiliser l’outil dans des atmosphères explosives ou inflammables. Tenir les personnes et les enfants éloignés. Ne jamais laisser du personnel non autorisé se servir ou toucher l’outil ou le cordon. Ranger les outils non utilisés. Lorsqu’ils ne sont pas utilisés, les outils doivent être rangés dans un endroit sec et fermé hors de portée des enfants. Ne pas forcer l’outil. Il effectuera sa tâche plus efficacement et en toute sécurité s’il est utilisé à sa vitesse normale. Utiliser l’outil correct. Ne jamais forcer un petit outil ou accessoire à effectuer la tâche d’un outil à usage intensif. Ne pas utiliser un outil pour une tâche autre que celle pour laquelle il a été conçu. Par exemple, ne pas utiliser une visseuse comme une perceuse. Porter les vêtements appropriés. Ne pas porter de vêtements flous ou des bijoux. Ils peuvent être attrapés par les pièces en mouvement. Des gants en caoutchouc et des chaussures antidérapantes sont recommandés pour les travaux à l’extérieur. Porter un filet protecteur pour retenir les cheveux longs. NOTE L’utilisation de rechanges autres que les pièces d’origine Ingersoll–Rand peut causer des blessures personnelles, réduire les performances de l’outil et augmenter l’entretien, et peut annuler toutes les garanties. Utiliser des brides ou un étau pour fixer les pièces. Les opérateurs ont souvent besoin de leurs deux mains pour effectuer leur travail. Ne pas se pencher en avant. Conserver une position stable et équilibrée, et tenir fermement l’outil à tout moment. Entretenir les outils avec soin. Pour obtenir des performances optimales et sûres, tenir les outils propres. Observer les instructions de lubrification et de changement d’accessoires. Inspecter périodiquement les cordons d’alimentation, et, en cas d’endommagement, les faire réparer par un centre d’entretien autorisé. Inspecter périodiquement les rallonges et les remplacer en cas d’endommagement. Tenir les poignées sèches, propres et exemptes d’huile et de graisse. Retirer les clés de réglage. Prendre l’habitude de vérifier que toutes les clés de réglage et de serrage sont enlevées de l’outil avant de le mettre en marche. Éviter toute mise en marche accidentelle. Ne pas transporter l’outil avec un doigt sur l’interrupteur. Ne pas laisser tomber ou maltraiter l’outil. A chaque fois qu’un outil n’est pas utilisé, placer l’interrupteur d’alimentation à la position “ARRÊT” et débrancher le cordon d’alimentation. Rester alerte. Etre attentif pendant le travail. Ne pas prendre de risque. Ne pas utiliser l’outil en cas de fatigue. Vérifier les pièces endommagées. Avant tout autre usage de l’outil, un carter de protection ou tout autre composant endommagé doit être vérifié pour s’assurer qu’il remplira correctement son rôle. Vérifier l’alignement des pièces mobiles, le grippage des pièces en mouvement, la cassure des pièces, leurs fixations et toute autre condition qui pourrait affecter le fonctionnement de l’outil. Sauf indication contraire • • • • • • • • dans ce manuel, tout carter ou autre composant endommagé doit être réparé ou remplacé par un centre d’entretien autorisé. Faire remplacer les interrupteurs défectueux par un centre d’entretien autorisé. Ne pas utiliser l’outil si l’interrupteur n’assure pas correctement la mise en marche ou l’arrêt. Ne pas laisser tomber ou maltraiter la visseuse. A chaque fois qu’un embout est changé, vérifier que le commutateur de marche avant/marche arrière est à la position “ARRÊT” et que l’outil est débranché. Ne jamais laisser des produits chimiques tels que l’acétone, le benzène, les diluants, la cétone, le trichloréthylène ou d’autres produits similaires, entrer en contact avec le corps de la visseuse sous peine d’endommagement. Ne pas actionner l’interrupteur marche avant/marche arrière lorsque le moteur est en marche. Lorsqu’un outil n’est pas utilisé, placer l’interrupteur marche avant/marche arrière à la position “ARRÊT” et débrancher la visseuse. L’utilisation d’accessoires ou d’équipements autres que ceux recommandés dans ce manuel peut présenter des risques de blessure personnelle. FONCTIONNEMENT • • Ne pas laisser tomber ou maltraiter le contrôleur. MISE EN SERVICE DE L’OUTIL L’outil doit être branché sur prise de terre pour protéger l’opérateur contre tout choc électrique. Le contrôleur est équipé d’un cordon d’alimentation à 3 conducteurs et d’une prise à 3 broches avec mise à la masse qui se connecte dans une prise femelle avec broche de mise à la masse. Le conducteur vert (ou vert et jaune) du cordon est le conducteur de mise à la masse. Ne jamais connecter le conducteur vert (ou vert et jaune) à une borne sous tension. Si votre unité est destinée à une alimentation inférieure à 150 volts, elle aura une prise comme celle illustrée à la Figure A. Un adaptateur (voir Figure B) est disponible pour connecter les prises du type de la Figure A à des prises femelles à deux broches. La bande rigide de couleur verte de mise à la masse sortant de l’adaptateur doit être connectée à une masse permanente, comme par exemple un boîtier de sortie correctement mis à la masse. Hará mejor el trabajo y de manera más segura utilizándola al régimen para el que ha sido proyectada. Use la herramienta conveniente. No fuerce una herramienta o accesorio pequeño a hacer el trabajo de una herramienta pesada. No conviene usar una herramienta para un fin distinto del previsto. Ejemplo: No debe usarse un destornillador como taladro. Use ropa adecuada. No use ropa suelta ni joyería, pues pueden ser atrapadas por piezas en movimiento. Se recomienda usar guantes de goma y calzado antideslizante cuando se trabaje al exterior. Si se lleva el pelo largo conviene contenerlo cubriéndose la cabeza. NOTA El uso de piezas de recambio que no sean auténticas de Ingersoll–Rand puede dar lugar a que se sufran lesiones, se reduzca el rendimiento de la herramienta y aumenten los cuidados de mantenimiento necesarios, así como la anulación de toda garantía. Encargue las reparaciones a una persona capacitada. Esta herramienta eléctrica está construida de conformidad con los requisitos pertinentes en materia de seguridad. Las reparaciones sólo deben ser efectuadas por personal capacitado empleando repuestos de origen, pues de lo contrario el usuario queda expuesto a riesgos considerables. No utilice la herramienta cuando esté cansado. Compruebe si hay piezas estropeadas. Antes de seguir usando la herramienta, una guarda u otra pieza que esté estropeada conviene comprobar con atención que funcionará debidamente y realizará su función prevista. Comprobar la alineación de las piezas móviles y constatar si hay agarrotamiento de elementos móviles, rotura de piezas, su montaje, y cualesquiera otras condiciones que puedan afectar a su funcionamiento. Una guarda u otra pieza cualquiera que esté estropeada debe • • • • • • • • repararse debidamente o ser sustituída por un centro de servicio autorizado a no ser que se indique otra cosa en alguna parte de este manual. Encarge a un centro de servicio autorizado que sustituya interruptores que estén defectuosos. No use la herramienta si el interruptor no conecta ni desconecta. No deje caer el atornillador ni abuse de él. Siempre que cambie un útil, asegúrese de que el conmutador de cambio del sentido de rotación está puesto en “OFF” y que la herramienta está desenchufada. Disconnect electrical power cord from outlet before performing any maintenance or repairs on this Controller. Do not attempt to repair this Controller unless you are a qualified electrician. * or equivalent, desolder Forward/Reverse Switch (2C) from Control Base and remove Forward/Reverse Switch from Control Base Switch Plate. Transformer DISASSEMBLY 1. Unsolder wires from Transformer (4). Cover 1. 2. 3. 4. Note the location and colors of wires for reassembly purposes. Remove Torque Knob (21) by using miniature screwdriver to loosen slotted setscrew in the side of the knob. Using small Phillips screwdriver, remove the four Cover Screws (6H). Remove Cover (1A) by using thin blade screwdriver to pry back of Cover away from locking tabs on back of Chassis Assembly (6A). See below. Lift Cover from Chassis Assembly (6A). 2. 3. 4. Remove Transformer Screw Nuts (6K) and Transformer Screw Washers (6J). Remove green ground wire. Lift Transformer from Chassis Assembly. Receptacle 1. DISASSEMBLY OF COVER 2. Using small Phillips screwdriver, remove three Receptacle Screws (5B) form Receptacle (5A), Spacer (5C) and Chassis Assembly. Pull Receptacle out of Chassis Assembly, remove heat shrink tubing, unsolder wires and remove Receptacle. Fuse Holder Assembly 1. 2. Remove heat shrink tubing from two yellow wires and unsolder wires from Fuse Holder (7A). IMPORTANT: NOTE WIRE ROUTING FOR REASSEMBLY PURPOSES. Loosen and remove locknut from fuse Holder and remove Fuse Holder from Chassis Assembly. Cord Assembly 1. (Dwg. TPD1061) 2. 3. Control Base 1. 2. Unsolder and remove wires from Control Base. Using Pincer Insertion Tool or flat blade screwdriver, remove Cord Stop (6L) form back of Chassis Assembly. Remove Cord Assembly. ASSEMBLY Power Switch Cord Assembly 1. 1. 2. * Remove Power Switch Screw Nuts, Power Switch Screw Washers, and Power Switch Screws (2K) and unsolder post of Power Switch (2B) from Control Base. Lift Power Switch from Control Base Switch Plate (2A), remove shrink wrap tubing and unsolder wires from Power Switch. Trademark of Duratec Corporation 2. 3. 18 Insert Cord Assembly leads through hole in rear of Chassis Assembly and using Pincer Insertion Tool, insert Cord Stopper into hole in Chassis Assembly. Attach green ground wire to Transformer Screw with Transformer Screw Washer and Transformer Screw Nut. Solder white wire to Transformer terminal. MAINTENANCE SECTION 4. 5. 6. Cut 3” long pieces of shrink wrap tubing, slide it over black lead from Cord Assembly and yellow wire from Power Switch. Solder black and yellow wires to connection on Suppressor leads. Tighten locknut to secure Fuse Holder. Cut two small pieces of heat shrink tubing and slide one piece of tubing over each yellow wire. Solder yellow wires to connections on Fuse Holder using same locations as when disassembled. See Wiring Diagram. Slide heat shrink tubing over soldered connection and heat shrink. 3. 4. 5. 6. Solder wires to Receptacle using same locations as when disassembled. See Wiring Diagram. Slide heat shrink tubing over soldered connections and heat shrink. Insert Receptacle into hole in Chassis Assembly, align spacer, and secure in place with Receptacle Screws. 2. 1. 2. 3. 4. Carefully solder wires to proper connections on Control Base. See Wiring Diagram. Attach Control Base to Left Side Plate (3A) with Control Base Screws. Attach control Base to Right Side Plate (3B) separating Suppressor from Control Base with Suppressor Spacers and Suppressor Screws. Cover 1. Forward/Reverse Switch 1. Pull yellow Power Switch wires through Control Base and Control Base Switch Plate. Cut two small pieces of heat shrink tubing and slide one piece of tubing over each yellow wire. Solder wires to Power Switch in same location as when disassembled. Slide heat shrink tubing over soldered connection and heat shrink. Place Power Switch in Control Base Switch Plate making sure that post on Power Switch fits into hole in Control Base Assembly. Attach Power Switch to Control Base Switch Plate with Power Switch Screws, Power Switch Screw Washers and Power Switch Screw Nuts. Solder post of Power Switch to bottom of Control Base. use care to avoid damage to Control Base. Control Base Transformer 1. Solder Forward/Reverse Switch posts to bottom of Control Base. Use care to avoid damage to Control Base. 2. Place Forward/Reverse Switch in Control Base Plate, making sure that posts on bottom of Switch fit into holes in Control Base. Be sure that switch orientation is correct. 3. 4. 19 Align post on front of Cover with hole in front of Chassis Assembly. Snap Cover in place over locking tabs at back of Chassis Assembly. Secure Cover with the four Cover Screws. Replace Torque Knob. TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE TROUBLE Screwdriver does not rotate PROBABLE CAUSE SOLUTION Blown Fuse (7B) Replace Fuse. Defective Fuse Holder Assembly (7A) Use voltmeter set at 0–250 volts AC to check voltage at T3 and F2. Reading should be 115 volts AC. If no reading, replace Fuse Holder Assembly. Defective Cord Assembly (8) Use Voltmeter set at 0–250 volts AC to check voltage at T3 and C1. Reading should be 115 volts AC. If no reading, replace Cord Assembly. Defective Power Switch (2B) Use voltmeter set at 0–25 volts AC to check voltage at T3 and F1. Reading should be 115 volts AC. Turn Switch on and off. If no reading, replace the Power Switch. Use voltmeter set at 0–50 volts AC to check voltage at T4 and T5. Reading should be 24 volts AC. If no reading, replace Transformer. Defective Transformer (4) Defective wiring between Transformer and Control Base (2E) Use voltmeter set at 0–50 volts AC at 3 and 4. Reading should be 24 volts AC. If no reading, repair wiring. No power from Control Base Use voltmeter set at 0–2.5 volts DC to check voltage at 5 and 6. Reading should be 1.75 volts DC. If no reading, replace Control Base. Defective Pilot Lamp Repeat above procedure. If there is reading of 1.75 volts DC and Lamp does not light, replace Lamp. Screwdriver will not rotate when Forward/Reverse Switch (2D) is in Reverse position. Defective Control Base With Forward/Reverse Switch in Reverse position, use voltmeter set at 0–50 volts DC at 7 and 8. Reading should be 22 volts DC. If no reading, replace Control Base. With Switch in Forward position, reading should be 0. Screwdriver will not rotate when Forward/Reverse Switch (2D) is in Forward position. Defective Control Base With Forward/Reverse Switch in Forward position, use voltmeter set at 0–50 volts DC at 7 and 9. Reading should be 22 volts DC. If no reading, replace Control Base. With Switch in Reverse position, reading should be 0. Faulty auto cycle Defective Auto Switch Replace Control Base. Pilot Lamp (2H) does not light.
