New Product Announcement: HDMI Cables No matter how strong any family or series of AudioQuest cables is, there are always new frontiers to be explored and opportunities to upgrade performance and ergonomics do arise. As a running change, Forest HDMI’s solid Long-Grain Copper conductors will be changed to solid 0.5% silver conductors. Another running change will have Carbon, Vodka, Coffee, and the top-of-the-line Diamond HDMI cables updated to include AudioQuest’s proprietary Noise-Dissipation System (NDS) technology. Last, all of AudioQuest’s HDMI cables will begin to ship with new plugs that are shorter and prettier, making for an even better-looking cable that is easier to connect to displays and source components. High-frequency digital audio and video signals travel primarily on the surface of the conductors, and Forest’s solid silver-plated copper conductors eliminate strand-interaction distortion and deliver many of the sonic benefits of 100% silver conductors at a fraction of the cost for sound that’s more involving, more 3D and just plain more fun. Never forget that HDMI is the audio interconnect of the 21st century, and that sound matters in all applications. Typical cable shield systems absorb and then drain noise and RF energy to component ground, modulating and distorting the critical “reference” ground plane. AudioQuest’s NDS uses alternating layers of metal- and carbon-loaded synthetics to “shield the shield,” absorbing and reflecting most of this energy before it reaches the layer attached to ground. Expect Carbon, Vodka, Coffee, and Diamond HDMI to deliver sound with even blacker backgrounds, better detail and superior dynamic contrast than ever before. While all AudioQuest HDMI plugs will migrate to the new, more ergonomic design, the other crucial performance features of AudioQuest HDMI cables will remain the same. All AudioQuest HDMI cables feature Ethernet Internet connectivity and Audio Return Channel, and all deliver 100% of the data required for today’s 120Hz/240Hz/600Hz HD displays. AudioQuest HDMI cables up to 10 meters in length are High Speed with Ethernet, compatible with 4K Ultra HD and 1080p 3D video. All AudiQuest HDMI cables honor the fact that HDMI is an audio cable as well as a video cable; all signal conductors are controlled and labeled for directionality for the best sonic performance, including those dedicated to the Audio Return Channel feature. Forest 0.5% silver with new plugs is available and shipping now in select lengths. The new HDMI plugs will appear soon on Pearl, and will phase in to the rest of the HDMI line in the coming months.
