into any openings. If any liquid such as water seeps into the device, have
the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
CAUTION
Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or others, or damage to
the device or other property. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following:
If you intend to use the pole socket on the subwoofer for mounting a full
range speaker, please read carefully ‘‘Precautions for Pole Mounting
’’
on
page 4. Failing to observe these precautions may cause the device to fall,
and result in injury or damage to the internal components.
Always consult qualified Yamaha service personnel if the device

following precautions.
-
Choose mounting hardware and an installation location that can support the
weight of the device.
-

Before connecting the device to other devices, turn off the power for all
devices. Before turning the power on or off for all devices, set all volume
levels to minimum.
Use only speaker cables for connecting speakers to the speaker jacks. Use
of other types of cables may result in fire.
Make sure to connect and neatly tie up the speaker cable so that the cable
is not exposed to being tripped over, stepped on or inadvertently pulled.
Also avoid pinching the cable (for example, between a heavy object and
the floor). Improper handling can result in damage to the device, personal
injury or fire as well as electrical shock hazard.
Do not apply excessive input.
To prevent possible damage to the speakers or even fire, make sure to
immediately lower the input level in the following cases.
-
Feedback caused when using a microphone.
-
Continuous high sound level produced by electronic instruments.
-
Popping noises caused by turning on other equipment, or by connecting or
disconnecting system components while the amplifier is turned on.
-
Continuous high-power output of distorted signals.*
*The device may be damaged even when the output level of the power amplifier
is lower than the specified permissible input level, if distorted signals are
continuously output at high power.
When turning on the AC power in your audio system, always turn on the
power amplifier LAST, to avoid speaker damage. When turning the power
off, the power amplifier should be turned off FIRST for the same reason.
Do not operate this device for a long period of time at high volume levels
or at a level that is uncomfortable, since it is capable of producing sound
levels that could cause permanent hearing loss. If you experience any
discomfort or ringing in the ears, or suspect an hearing loss, you should
consult an audiologist.
Do not stand on the device or put your feet on it, and do not hang it from
the ceiling or any high place. Improper handling can result in damage to
the device or even personal injury.
If any unusual smell or smoke appears to be emitted from the device or
caused by it, or if there is a sudden loss of sound during use, or if the
device is dropped or damaged, discontinue using it immediately and have
it inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel.
The rubber feet included in this package can be attached to the speaker to prevent it
from sliding when it is used on a slippery surface or if the speaker cabinet moves by
vibration at a high volume. See “Dimensions” (page 29).
Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use or modifications to the device.

Connections
Neutrik Speakon NL4 plug wiring
Connect the plugs as shown below.
Be sure to use proper speaker cable – not shielded instrument or
line cable – for all speaker connections.
The Speakon jack 1+/- of INPUT side at the speaker and
barrier strip terminals should be connected in parallel. For
details, see the wiring diagram on page 29.
Precautions for Pole Mounting
A full-range speaker system can be attached to the IS1112(W) by
inserting a pole to the pole socket of the sub-woofer. When you use
a pole mount, please keep in mind the following points:
Improper handling can result in damage to the speaker or even
personal injury.
Full-range speakers that can be mounted to the IS1112(W) are
IF2108(W) and IF2208(W).
Use a pole no longer than 90cm (35.4") with an outer diameter of
35mm (1-3/8").
When pole mounting a speaker cabinet, always use two or more
people.
When pole mounting a speaker cabinet, avoid inserting your fingers
or hands between the pole socket and pole.
Make sure to keep the speaker cabinet steady with your hands until
the pole is firmly and completely inserted into the pole socket.
Suspended Installation
The strength of the suspension points on the speaker is
60 kg
per
point (maximum).
Before doing any installation or construction work, consult with an
installation expert.
When choosing the installation location, suspension wire and
mounting hardware, make sure all are strong enough to support the
weight of the speaker.
Some fittings may deteriorate over extended periods of time due to
wear and or corrosion. For optimum safety, the installation should be
checked thoroughly at regular intervals.
Using eye bolts for suspension
For optimum safety, make sure to carefully follow the precautions
below.
Use only the supplied eye bolts.
Use three or more eye bolts for suspended installations.
Install the eye bolts to multiple surfaces of the speaker, not just one
surface.
Eye bolt strength
Keep in mind that the strength of the eye bolt differs depending on
the suspension angle of the speaker. Make sure that the load for
each eye bolt is less than 740 kg when suspending at an angle of 0
degrees, and less than 185 kg at an angle of 45 degrees.
When using the eye bolts,
make sure that the
suspension angle is within the
range of 0 to 45 degrees, as
shown at right.
Do not suspend the eye bolts
as shown in the diagram at
right.

English WARNING Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of serious injury or even death from electrical shock, short-circuiting, damages, fire or other hazards. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following: Do not open Water warning • Do not open the device or attempt to disassemble the internal parts or modify them in any way. The device contains no user-serviceable parts. If it should appear to be malfunctioning, discontinue use immediately and have it inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel. • Do not expose the device to rain, use it near water or in damp or wet conditions, or place containers on it containing liquids which might spill into any openings. If any liquid such as water seeps into the device, have the device inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel. CAUTION Always follow the basic precautions listed below to avoid the possibility of physical injury to you or others, or damage to the device or other property. These precautions include, but are not limited to, the following: Location • If you intend to use the pole socket on the subwoofer for mounting a full range speaker, please read carefully ‘‘Precautions for Pole Mounting’’ on page 4. Failing to observe these precautions may cause the device to fall, and result in injury or damage to the internal components. • Always consult qualified Yamaha service personnel if the device installation requires construction work, and make sure to observe the following precautions. - - Choose mounting hardware and an installation location that can support the weight of the device. Avoid locations that are exposed to constant vibration. Make sure to use the specified hardware. Inspect the device periodically. IS1112(W) Owner’s Manual • Before moving the device, remove all connected cables. • Do not use the speaker’s handles for suspended installation. Doing so can result in damage or injury. • Do not expose the device to excessive dust or vibration, or extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunlight, near a heater, or in a car during the day) to prevent the possibility of distortion or damage to the components. • Do not place the device in an unstable position (for example, on a shaky table or on an incline) where it might accidentally fall over. (6)-4 2 • When transporting or moving the device, always use two or more people. Attempting to lift the device by yourself may damage your back, result in other injury, or cause damage to the device itself. 1/2 Connections Special Notice • Before connecting the device to other devices, turn off the power for all devices. Before turning the power on or off for all devices, set all volume levels to minimum. The rubber feet included in this package can be attached to the speaker to prevent it from sliding when it is used on a slippery surface or if the speaker cabinet moves by vibration at a high volume. See “Dimensions” (page 29). English • Use only speaker cables for connecting speakers to the speaker jacks. Use of other types of cables may result in fire. • Make sure to connect and neatly tie up the speaker cable so that the cable is not exposed to being tripped over, stepped on or inadvertently pulled. Also avoid pinching the cable (for example, between a heavy object and the floor). Improper handling can result in damage to the device, personal injury or fire as well as electrical shock hazard. Handling caution • Do not apply excessive input. To prevent possible damage to the speakers or even fire, make sure to immediately lower the input level in the following cases. - - Feedback caused when using a microphone. Continuous high sound level produced by electronic instruments. Popping noises caused by turning on other equipment, or by connecting or disconnecting system components while the amplifier is turned on. Continuous high-power output of distorted signals.* *The device may be damaged even when the output level of the power amplifier is lower than the specified permissible input level, if distorted signals are continuously output at high power. • When turning on the AC power in your audio system, always turn on the power amplifier LAST, to avoid speaker damage. When turning the power off, the power amplifier should be turned off FIRST for the same reason. • Do not operate this device for a long period of time at high volume levels or at a level that is uncomfortable, since it is capable of producing sound levels that could cause permanent hearing loss. If you experience any discomfort or ringing in the ears, or suspect an hearing loss, you should consult an audiologist. • Do not stand on the device or put your feet on it, and do not hang it from the ceiling or any high place. Improper handling can result in damage to the device or even personal injury. If you notice any abnormality • If any unusual smell or smoke appears to be emitted from the device or caused by it, or if there is a sudden loss of sound during use, or if the device is dropped or damaged, discontinue using it immediately and have it inspected by qualified Yamaha service personnel. Yamaha cannot be held responsible for damage caused by improper use or modifications to the device.
