WARNING: The unit is suitable for grounded RECEPTACLE USE ONLY. GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS: This heater is for use on 120 volts. The cord has a plug as shown at A in Figure 2. An adapter as shown at C is available for connecting three-blade grounding-type plugs to two-slot receptacles. The green grounding lug extending from the adapter must be connected to a permanent ground such as a properly grounded outlet box. The adapter should not be used if a three-slot grounded receptacle is available. SPECIAL ATTENTION: The use of an extension cord is not recommended. However, if it is absolutely necessary, be sure that the extension cord is (1) rated for at least 15 Amps; (2) UL Listed; (3) as short as possible (long cords can overheat, as well as trip circuit breakers); (4) not used for operating more than one appliance at a time. equipped with a safety auto shut-off and a safety thermal fuse. If the unit experiences excessive heat, the safety auto shut-off will cycle the heater/fan off, but the power indicator light will continue to glow, indicating that the unit is plugged in and switched on. If this occurs, turn the unit off and unplug it immediately, and check for any objects that may be restricting airflow through the heater/fan. To permit the safety devices to cool and reset, allow a cool-down period of at least 10 minutes before plugging in and switching the unit back on. The Heater/Fan will then resume normal operation. The safety auto-shut off device is also designed to operate if the heater is tipped over, front or back, and the airflow is blocked. FROST WATCH FEATURE: Select heat setting. Leave the adjustable thermostat on the MIN setting. Heater/fan will remain Off unless the temperature approaches freezing (41°F). If this occurs, the heater/ fan will cycle On automatically. HOW TO USE CARE AND CLEANING This appliance is for HOUSEHOLD USE ONLY. It may be plugged into any 120-volt, 60Hz AC electrical outlet (ordinary household current). Do not use any other type of outlet. CHOOSING A LOCATION FOR HEATER/FAN This heater is intended for use on a flat, stable surface, such as a floor, tabletop, shelf or workbench in a location where the airflow through the inlet and exhaust openings will not be obstructed. Keep all combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, paper, clothes and curtains at least 3 feet away from heater. Do not use in wet or moist locations, e.g., bathrooms or laundry areas, or in areas where paint or other flammable or volatile liquids are used or stored. CAUTION: Be sure that no other appliances are plugged into the same circuit with this heater/fan. A circuit overload could occur. HOW TO USE THE HEATER: Set the heater on a firm, flat and level surface and adjust angle. To adjust angle, make sure heater is unplugged and power switch is in the OFF position. Loosen the angle adjustment knob, adjust heater to the desired angle, and then retighten the knob to secure in place. With the power switch in the OFF position and the thermostat control set at LO (minimum heat setting), plug cord into electrical wall outlet. Turn power switch and set at FAN, LO or HI. Turn the thermostat control and set it from LO (minimum heat setting) to HI (maximum heat setting). The power indicator light will illuminate when the heater is plugged in and operating. NOTE: If the power switch is set at FAN, the fan will start immediately. (No heating will occur in the FAN only mode.) If the power switch is set to operate at LO or HI, set the thermostat control at HI (maximum heat setting) until the desired temperature is reached; then carefully lower the heat setting until the heater turns off. Heater will automatically cycle on and off to maintain that temperature level. SPECIAL FEATURES OF THIS HEATER FAN POWER INDICATOR LIGHT: To show that unit is switched on and operating, this Heater/Fan is equipped with a power indicator light that illuminates whenever the heater is plugged in and rotary switch is turned on in any position. It will continue to glow even if the thermostat has cycled and the heating elements are off. PTC CERAMIC AUTO SHUT-OFF SAFETY DEVICE: This Heater/Fan is This appliance requires little maintenance and contains no user serviceable parts. Do not try to fix it yourself. Refer it to qualified service personnel if servicing is needed. (For repair parts, refer to the model number on the label located on the heater.) TO CLEAN: Always switch OFF and disconnect the cord from the electrical outlet before cleaning heater. Accumulated dust may be removed from the heater with a soft cloth or vacuum cleaner using the dusting brush attachment. Interior dust can often be removed by using a vacuum cleaner in its blower mode with a crevice attachment. Heater may also be cleaned with a cloth that has been moistened with a solution of mild detergent and water. Dry the case thoroughly with a soft, dry cloth before operating the unit. CAUTION: DO NOT immerse heater in water or allow water to drip into the heater housing, as this could create an electric shock hazard. TO STORE: When storing heater during the off season, be sure to store it in a dry area. Wrap the power cord into a neat package. The power cord should not be in contact with sharp edges, and it should not be compressed by heavy objects. REMEMBER: Portable electric heaters are designed for space heating or as a supplementary heat source. They are not intended to be the main source of heat. El calentador automáticamente se encenderá y apagará para mantener el nivel de la temperatura. CARACTERISTICAS ESPECIALES DE ESTE CALENTADOR/VENTILADOR LUZ INDICADORA DE ENCENDIDO: Para mostrar que la unidad está encendida y en funcionamiento, este Calentador/Ventilador está equipado con una luz indicadora de encendido que se ilumina cada vez que el calentador es enchufado y el interruptor rotativo es movido a cualquier posición. Esta continuará iluminada aún si el termostato ha dejado de funcionar y los elementos de calentamiento están apagados. DISPOSITIVO DE APAGADO AUTOMATICO DE CERAMICA PTC: Este Calentador/Ventilador está equipado con un apagado automático y un fusible térmico de seguridad. Si la unidad se calentara excesivamente, el apagado automático de seguridad apagará el calentador/ventilador pero la luz de encendido continuará iluminada, indicando que la unidad está enchufada y encendida. Si esto ocurriera, apague la unidad y desenchúfela inmediatamente y revise cualquier objeto que pueda estar restringiendo la salida de aire a través del calentador/ventilador. DISPOSITIVO FROST WATCH: Seleccione una posición de calentamiento. Deje el termostato ajustable en la posición Bajo (LO). El Calentador/ Ventilador permanecerá apagado a menos que la temperatura llegue al grado de congelamiento (41° F). Si esto ocurriera, el calentador/ ventilador se encenderá automáticamente. PRECAUCION: NO sumerja el calentador en agua o deje que agua penetre en la caja del motor del calentador, ya que esto podría causar un corto circuito. PARA GUARDAR: Cuando guarde la unidad, asegúrese de guardarla en un área seca. Enrolle el cordón en forma ordenada. El cordón no debe estar en contacto con objetos afilados y no deberá ser comprimido por objetos pesados. No lo use en áreas donde gasolina, pinturas u otros líquidos volátiles o inflamables puedan estarse usando o guardarse. ■ Evite el uso de un cordón de extensión ya que el uso de éste podría resultar en un sobrecalentamiento en el cordón y causar peligro de fuego. Sin embargo, si se debe usar un cordón de extensión, que sea de una medida mínima de 14 AWG y uno clasificado de no menos de 1500 vatios. IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following. “DO NOT COVER” on heater/fan. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surface. Unplug and let heater cool down for at least 5 minutes before moving it. Use handles, if provided. ■ To reduce the risk of fire, keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes and curtains at least 3 feet (0.9m) from the front, sides and rear of the heater. ■ Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids, and whenever the heater is left operating. Avoid leaving an operating heater unattended. ■ Always unplug from electrical outlet (receptacle) whenever heater is not in use. ■ To disconnect heater, turn control to OFF, then remove plug from outlet (receptacle).
